please explain to me what the deal is with chonny jash i am fascinated

oh my friend you have olled away the rock the tomb has been unsealed,

Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium is a cover album of Tally Hall songs, in the same way Everything Everywhere All At Once is about a woman trying to do her taxes. the full thing is available on youtube and spotify. even solely superficially, it's super interesting, because it's not like, karaoke over the song's musical track, it's like. Redone. new sounds. same song, same tune, but still completely reupholstered. if you like jhariah or will wood, this is like tally hall if you seasoned it to make it sound like them.

HOWEVER.

the instrumentals are NOT the only thing that changed-- he also REWRITES THE LYRICS. he's a VERY clever lyricist, even if hes still definitely drawing from the original. but in doing so he's creating an underlying story, and in tying it all together it starts becoming clear.

CCCC is about Chonny Jash, the artist in question, going through such a bad mental health episode that he manages to split his brain in three. be aware, it's not explicitly anything-- it could be about plurality, it could be about depersonalization, or it could just be a metaphor about self conflict. but the bottom line is, where there was once one there is now THREE, and none of them want to be here.

the bulk of the album is the three of them singing and songwriting and arguing with each other. Mind Electric is the left brain, the logical side, and the only one with a distinctive voice-- he has a distinctly robotic, modulated voice. he also talks like a disney villain.

his counterpart is Heart Acoustic! the right brain, the emotional side, and the most visually distinctive of the three-- he's the chap with the blindfold and the wings and he's a bit of a miserable mess. if mind is the voice in your head who berates you for not getting things done, heart is the voice in your head panicking about the long term impact.

that being said: neither of them are inherenty the Good Guy or the Bad Guy. they are equals, and they cannot lives without each other, and they are constantly committing war crimes. the first thiiiird? of the album is the two of them bitching and bitching and bitching and

number three is my favorite and he shows up in like the last half of the album: the Soul Eclectic. you can't really argue if Heart or Mind are id or superego, but Soul is unquestionably the ego in the triad. he moderates and also keeps Heart and Mind from killing each other. and plays guitar. he's skrunkly

that being said. it is about a depressive episode. all three of them kind of want to die. Soul is absolutely not opposed to it. they have explicitly discussed this. i cannot emphasize enough, the entire album is about an absolute mental low, and that's kind of what keeps it interesting. the three of them are one person at his absolute worst, and they are so filled with loathing for the Others that is really just kind of... loathing of the self. take all of that on top of the fact they are in a time loop.

the three of them are trapped in an infinite cycle of dissolution and reconstitution. they will always eventually synthesize and make it out of the misery pit only to fall back apart into the same patterns and arguments and PEOPLE. they cant catch a break man!!!!!!

What’s up folks, I just reblogged one of my really old posts about trying to get people to read my novel drafts. But here’s a shiny new one so I can pin this to the front!

So I originally posted these works on Inkitt and Inkshares, but Inkitt is most likely a scam that is often described as “a shittier version of Wattpad.” Inkshares is POSSIBLY a scam, but also an extremely new and experimental website even if it wasn’t, so I decided to move these drafts to Wattpad in hopes that a more established website had more people to read them.

Moonflowers is in-progress and The Crocodile God is completed, but I’ll just let people know that both “Moonflowers” and “The Crocodile God” are built on a LOT of outdated knowledge where Tagalogs/Filipinos all had tattoos and that Mayari is a Tagalog goddess. In “The Crocodile God,” I draw from a lot of Maori/Pacific mythology as well, and I’m not sure if I should keep that aspect in there.

If these ever make it to Draft 2 stage, there’s gonna be a lot of changes.

Summary: When Alima Song's parents vanish for no reason, she eventually thinks that they're dead, so she moves from her home in California to the tourist town of Cloncarrig, Ireland to get away from her grief. Aside from issues with the Fair Folk, she gets to know some Malachy Bray and his friends, finds a job, a house, and adopts a stray dog.

Unknown to most people, the dog is Ned Song, her cursed but very much living father. He and her mother Lucy have not been killed--they "just" got kidnapped and cursed by the Wild Hunt, who are also the ones that keep trailing Alima after she moved.

The Irish gods do not enjoy thinking about why a whole gang of fairies are messing with the Song family, but since their leader is a force of nature, they'll have to start improvising their help.

i need to talk about falspar before i explode

okay so here’s the guy we’re talking about plus information that will be important going forward:

number 1. he is genderfluid and uses any pronouns but primarily he/him

number 2. he is aro/pan (but he doesn't know the aro part for a while)

number 3. autism adhd and a healthy dose of rejection sensitive dysphoria

without further ado, here is my lore dump

(also: warnings for child neglect and drug use)

for the sake of structuring my thoughts i'm gonna pull from a couple songs that have been fueling all this. i know it's cliche to have mother mother in character playlists but you have to trust me okay. because it's ball cap and touch up and the album they're from is dear to my heart

let's talk about astrals. in case you thought otherwise, this is going to be very headcanon-heavy so i'm opening with my hardest hitter and that's astral reproduction.

option 1: mitosis. can only be performed once due to the unstable nature of void creatures

option 2: random birth as a result of the random collision of light matter particles in space

in the case of option 2, the newborn usually just drifts around until they get caught in a planet's orbit and pulled to the ground. in the case of either option, they imprint on the first creature they see. only really a problem for option 2.

falspar here is option 2. he landed on mekkai before the whole planet became industrialized, which happened gradually during his time there. (additional note before i forget to put it anywhere: mekkai's vernacular is derivative of german because german is like 'the science language.' he grows up speaking both common and this yet-to-be-named vernacular.) when he's eventually found, he ends up in foster care because astrals live for a really long time and most species on mekkai aren't able to take care of someone for that long. he has no memory of whoever he may have imprinted on, but it never mattered to him that much.

(even if it's always felt like something was missing.)

so here's my first pull from ball cap:

this stanza feels to me like it's from the perspective of a child. it feels like they're trying to fit in, or trying to understand why they struggle to fit in.

here's where some of that stuff i mentioned earlier comes in. all of it, actually, even if he didn't quite know all of it yet. 1, trans kid. astrals are born genderless and some ID otherwise later on. i imagine mekkai to be somewhat similar to human society, being so technologically advanced. something about colonialism and forcing the gender binary and now in the current day our young astral is very confused why everyone is trying to assign him an arbitrary label for something he doesn't have. of course it's too early for him to really question anything, but the confusion is always there.

2, welcome to my obligatory "you are aromantic" segment. wanna know how annoying it is to be aro in a romance-focused society? extremely! and that shit sticks with you forever unfortunately so you really have to try and unlearn it! this comes in more later and i'll talk about it then, but similar to point 1 there's the inkling that something is wrong, even if he doesn't know what just yet.

and 3, neurodivergent. here's where i insert my 'astrals are like cats' headcanon and tell you all astrals are autistic and there's nothing you can do to stop me. anyway, this is the bit that ties to this lyric the most at this point. yknow when you feel different and don't know why? or you do know why, and you're even more conscious about how you're just not like everyone around you? that's what this line is to me. reaching to understand your peers, but ultimately extending your arms and finding nothing in your grasp, just empty sky.

so, he starts not really fitting in anywhere. nowhere feels right. no one seems interested in him. he's loud, excitable, enthusiastic, but it seems to scare people off more than it invites them in. he moves between families a lot for the first few decades because, again, no one on mekkai is really equipped to deal with a kid who ages and matures ten times slower than the average person on the planet. this makes schooling especially bad--how do you even compensate for something like that? moving him up each year is far too fast, keeping him in the same grade for ten years is pointlessly excessive. it's complicated and he gets through it, but not without a lot of struggle. completing work always feels like a fight.

moving on: remember how awful it is being in your early to mid-teens? we're there now and all three things i mentioned before have only begun weighing on him more now that he's starting to understand them. societal pressure rolls around again! sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll being ostracized by your peers for not following the norm!

we can scratch that first one off the list because aro + terrified of emotional intimacy. the aro thing isn’t a problem but it is certainly confusing and he's like the equivalent of 16 at this point and has no fucking clue what any of that means. it sure as hell doesn't make him feel better about himself. second one's easy but we'll get to that in a moment. i only put the third one there for the joke but he probably does like rock. and the fourth is basically at the forefront of his thoughts the entire time.

this is about the time where he starts noticing things. a lot to do with his current family, mostly that...they don't really seem interested in him. no one ever has. he could never really make friends because they would all grow up and move on without him. his past family members cared about him, sure, but he always knew he would have to leave eventually, so he tried not to get attached. the longer he sits on this, the more sick of it he becomes. after a while he decides he's going to get someone's attention, whether it's good attention or not.

here's where the drugs come back. it's crazy what a little brain-altering substance can do. suddenly, you have no inhibitions, no fears, and falspar ends up with some friends for the first time. or at least, with people who don't find him unbearable to be around. he's not exactly close with any of them, but at least he's not alone, right?

here's another line that's relevant for this portion:

Oh, don't you know that beauty is only skin deep? Well, baby, baby, come on and skin me

his current state is a culmination of peer pressure, the weight of societal standards, and his refusal to really be vulnerable with anyone, only able to do so with great pain. this is a very confusing, very stressful period of one's life and everything that's happened up to this point is only making things worse.

but the drugs help. at least somewhat. he's able to talk to people. he can be normal for once. he goes along with his friends, and he's happy. at least, he's pretty sure he is. what starts as regular fun after-school activities starts to turn into some not-so-legal ones. but they're still pretty fun, he'll admit. the thrill practically gives him the same high as a smoke.

when his family hears, they aren't happy. falspar is, though. they start keeping a closer eye on him, making sure he gets home on time, and while he's still sneaking out with his friends from time to time, it's nice to know someone is wondering what he's doing.

it was nice for a while, at least. what he isn't ready for is after he became a legal adult, they asked him to leave. well, 'asked' is a gentle way to put it.

he manages to get ahold of a few closer friends who graduated recently and were living together in the next town over, and they invite him to stay with them. he's stressed at first, afraid of being a burden, finding a job as soon as possible to help out. after a few months, he gets more comfortable, and then...

freedom. for the first time, he doesn't feel...obligated to be one way or another. he works and helps around the house, and in the evening he and his friends hang out and smoke and play games and for once, he's happy. he really, really is, and the morning he wakes up and realizes it he decides it's time for a change. he cuts his hair and picks out a new name and he's finally started to understand himself.

i haven't said anything about touch up yet, so here's a bit from the bridge that i'm about to rip into:

I forget that I can remember when I was young, climbing up fences Scraping my knees, dirt on my cheeks Not one makeover queen bone in me

there's a stark contrast between falspar's younger self and who he becomes as he grows up. to address this stanza directly, there's the obliviousness that comes with being a child. there's no bigger picture, there's no pressure to be someone you're not, to pretend to be like the people around you for their approval. maybe something was off, but what did it matter? those problems seem so small now.

as he gets older, in comes the confusion, the isolation, the self-loathing. something was wrong, something, even if he didn't know exactly what, and it was excruciating. there had to be an answer, right? yet no matter how much he searched and fought, he could never find one.

and then, escaping all that, and being allowed to breathe freely. you have other problems now, sure, but all that weight is gone. somehow just the idea of being an 'adult' now opens up so many doors, and for the first time in, hell, maybe his entire life, falspar looks in the mirror and smiles back at the person he sees in it.

the repetition of the line "All my makeup, it has washed off" has two meanings in this context. the first, and more positive, being that he's able to do...anything, really. he can relax. unmask. he doesn't have to perform for anyone. he can remove the paint and be himself and for once he's not going to be forced to conform. it doesn't matter what other people think, you are alive, why shouldn't he be able to live authentically?

the second relates to his younger self again. this whole song feels like the buildup to a breakdown, eventually coming to a close with the constant repeat of "I need a touch up/give me the touch up," and one finally slam on the guitar, the exhausting aftermath playing out as it slowly fades to nothing. losing that mask is devastating, he can't be seen without it, he'll be cast out again, discarded, abandoned, and he can't let that happen, not now, not after everything. and once it's over, he's left alone, in the dark, too afraid to turn to anyone no matter how badly he wants to.

okay. this is getting really long and i'd love to add how he gets to the gsa here, but i think i've said enough. i'm done with the song analysis at this point, too, so i'll have to talk about it some other time.

YEESH feels good to get all that out of my system. if you've made it to the end of this, thank you so much for reading. it means a lot. can you tell i really really like this guy?

182 Days of TPN - Day 180

Chapter 180: "Your Everything"

I can understand how the demon god says he can't kill Emma or any of her family due to the promise she just made, but what if he physically wasn't capable of doing so regardless? Sure, right after the reveal He mentions how He "doesn't intend to" which gives the implication that He could, but what if, despite all the power He has to change the space around him, people's fate and whatever else, He's actually harmless? It would be kinda a letdown if we spent all that time worrying for our girl's life for nothing, but I'd still be grateful. It would make some sense as to why he has the other demons harvest food for him instead of obtaining it Himself, aside from the fact he's a literal god who's well respected by them.

Let the real pain begin! Maaann, it sucks that we've come this far into the story and watched these precious kids endure such hardships and yet once they all achieve their goal, the stress and drama just keeps on coming! At the end of the day, I can appreciate the high stakes of the reward and how greatly it effects Emma and her family, but that blank look on her face always breaks me.

Demon god may take Emma's memories but I'm about to take Him out with a good whack to the head courtesy of Barbara's spiked bat.

We know Emma cares way more about her family than herself, so hearing that they can all safely cross over to the human world and be free is obviously the best kind of news she can hear, but damn honey, that sad smile makes me wanna cry.

Like Ayshe, it's a shame that Alex is introduced to us so late in the story because there's a whole lot more I wanna learn about him aside from what he tells Emma and what we can deduce from the photos he has hanging up on his wall. There's no possible way he could've been introduced earlier in the story, since arriving in the human world was the shared dream of all the cattle children, but I wish this arc lasted longer so we could've at least seen more of his growing relationship with Emma.

Aahh, she's trying so very hard to remember anything about her life. I hate seeing her look so defeated. Whenever our Emma felt lost or down in the past, she would have her family around to help her or even resort to that famous optimism of hers to get her mind back on track, but she's really got nothing right now. Yeah she eventually gets to a point where she feels better about her situation as we see her spend more time with Alex in this new life during this chapter, but such sad expressions don't look good on our normally cheerful leader.

As much as I love how Emma kept all the photos Ray once gave her this entire time, I hate how they've become completely distorted by the price of the reward. Demon god just keeps landing more critical hits on my heart. I do have to wonder if the WM pen still works at all or not though. Her and Alex had to be a little curious about a pen that doesn't work like an actual pen. But yeah, seeing a young teenager with a gun that size is definitely a red flag. Luckily Alex finally learns from Emma's family the reason why she had it in offscene026 (which isn't an extra page from the manga but can't recall where it's from exactly), along with all the other odd and impressive skills she retained because she was one of the cattle children, but until then the poor man believed she was an escaped child solider or secret agent, which doesn't seem too farfetched considering everything else that's happened in the story.

I'll never get used to seeing Emma without her ID. That 63194 is iconic damn it, whether on her neck or in song form! But bless Alex for being such a kind gentleman and practically adopting Emma without question. Undoubtedly one of the best parents of the series and quite literally the only one that's safe from any possible death threats (the one perk to being introduced so late I suppose). I also love all the patterns he has on his clothes and around the house.

Although I love the jacket she wears at the end of this chapter and the next, along with the outfit that's briefly shown at the start of the epilogue which gives me serious GP outfit vibes, Emma looks real good wearing all these cute patterns. I'm assuming these clothes once belonged to Alex's daughter and it's sweet he shares them with Emma.

I think I rambled on a little bit with this idea back during ch101 about the necklace and because of it resembling the dragon's eye (that's supposedly capable of seeing through everything), it managed to nullify the consequences of the reward, which is why Emma was capable of seeing her family in her dreams and eventually cause her to reunite with them by being sorta sentient in a way since it slipped off her neck.. somehow. Anyway, not really relevant to any of that, but the larger blanket on her bed always reminded me of a giraffe pattern which obviously suits our girl so well.

Having all her most important people call out to her and not remember a single soul, including herself, ugh.. I wish to lay down and sob.

As if the whole memory loss situation didn't already upset me enough already, let's add Emma crying in her sleep to the list.

I'm slow in realizing this, but this is probably the same church that was shown in Alex's photos.

Loneliness truly is a horrible feeling, but at least they can comfort each other. While I'm certain both of them would love to reconnect with their respective families again, having one person by your side is a whole lot better than no one at all.

As long as you keep your family and friends in your heart, they'll always be with you, so While Alex doesn't necessarily need to stay in one place to remember them, I understand that being around a familiar place where he shared countless memories with them would allow him to remember everyone easier. It's sweet of him to still be concerned of Emma's family a month later despite her having trouble thinking about them in the first place.

I get annoyed at myself whenever I say I'm gonna do something then forget the exact thing I planned to do just minutes after, so I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must be for Emma to remember nothing of her previous life. Well, I everything that doesn't directly relate to her family or the demon world anyways, such as firing a gun, her athleticism and all her habits, but to hell with the demon god. This reward is still so cruel.

Mhhhmm her optimism has slowly but surely been returning to her as well, just not in the way we would've wanted/expected. Even though I would love for her to remain hopeful that she could meet or remember her family someday, I'm proud of her that she decides not to dwell on her losses anymore and begins living a happier life.

The absolute joy I felt upon seeing Ray, Gilda and Phil being so close to finally finding our girl.. aaahh it just makes you wanna jump into the panel and shout at them to TURN THE HELL AROUND.

Favorite panel/moment:

I got this far and realized I actually chosen three different scenes, so.. I'm gonna cheat. Of course, I love this quick dream scenario of what Emma's life could've looked like had she arrived in the human world alongside her entire family without any compensation, as her number is still visible on her neck here. I also just really love everyone's different outfits! And I'm once again only noticing now that the patterns on Emma's shorts and the hood part of her shirt match the pattern that Alex had on his original jacket.

Remember way back at the end of ch1 when Emma declares that she wouldn't cry anymore? Yeah, well, obviously this Emma doesn't recall that promise to herself and proceeds to let out an impressive amount of tears while shattering my heart in the process. Aahhh, this is another moment I'm glad that was never animated because hearing all that emotion in her voice would surely make me cry along with her. And I praised the anime's use of a sunrise during the end of their interpretation of the ch122-123 balcony scene, so even though this chapter came first, I do enjoy how the rising sun has sorta become a symbol that restores Emma's optimism because it's shortly after this breakdown that she starts to act like her old self again.

Lastly, Alex giving Emma a head pat. I desperately wished this would've caused her to remember all the head pats Ray gave her in the past, or at the very least spark some kind of deja vu feeling, but alas, we weren't that lucky.

So I originally posted these works on Inkitt and Inkshares, but Inkitt is most likely a scam that is often described as “a shittier version of Wattpad.” Inkshares is POSSIBLY a scam, but also an extremely new and experimental website even if it wasn’t, so I decided to move these drafts to Wattpad in hopes that a more established website had more people to read them.

Moonflowers is in-progress and The Crocodile God is completed, but I’ll just let people know that both “Moonflowers” and “The Crocodile God” are built on a LOT of outdated knowledge where Tagalogs/Filipinos all had tattoos and that Mayari is a Tagalog goddess. In “The Crocodile God,” I draw from a lot of Maori/Pacific mythology as well, and I’m not sure if I should keep that aspect in there.

If these ever make it to Draft 2 stage, there’s gonna be a lot of changes.

First of all: Thank you very much, I really appreciate all of your input on the current rammstein situation and I’d totally say I agree!

The situation is fucked.

I just want to add some of my thoughts about all of this, if that’s ok:

Let’s start with: I hate it here.

I hate what this debate does to the bigger image of the band: they are in the process of becoming a tool to express hate towards women and the general idea of feminism. There are misogynists, fans of this red pill ideology ‘defending’ Till by simply calling the women who came forward with allegations slurs. And there are fanaccounts sharing these videos like “go watch it, big recommendation” … you’re like ten seconds in and the dude in the video calls a woman “bitch”/“hoe” because he has ‘evidence’ that she might be lying? Shut up, Sherlock and maybe let some professional investigator do their job?

Who do they think they’re helping with that? It’s ridiculous, really embarrassing and not helpful at all imho.

This antifa-incident now also gives a lot of rather right winged people (Nazis lol) the opportunity to slide in the comment section of posts about it and spread hate of the political left as a whole and force their ideas of “the lefts being the new facists” on everyone. This connection is also very nice for all those journalists out there who love discussing rammstein as nazis! And also veeeery nice for the current political situation in Germany! much wow. I’m so done. (Also quick advice to all the activists out there: if you feel like vandalism, maybe rather write ‘no stage for Nazis’ on some buildings that are owned by ‘Alternative für Deutschland’?)

(These right winged accounts also really often show their homophobia - which I find quite ironic given the fact that rammstein eg waved pride flags in poland and their guitarists kissing on stage like every concert now but ok)

Id def consider myself somewhere on the spectrum of the political left and I also think that one can (and should) read rammsteins appearance in their political songs in this context.

My point being: there are now a lot of people interested in rammstein who seem to actually have nothing in common with their world view? It just makes me really uncomfortable and I hope that once this is over they’ll loose their interest in the band again.

I’ve been to three rammstein concerts and one of Lindemanns shows - until now everything was ok and we met some nice people. (Even tho the Lindemann Show was a rather weird, unique experience in general but that’s sth different) .. all in all I’d say my (female passing) friends and I were having a good time and everything was ok.

But with all of this, with the chance that the amount of these kinds of really bad people being interested in rammstein and as a result maybe also attending the concerts is growing - I might be afraid of going to another one (if there will be another tour?) and no, not because of Till Lindemann.

In general, though, I share a lot of your concerns. Situations such as this one are tricky because what is ultimately the dealings between two people and their own feelings/experiences of the matter gets submitted to the greater public for their judgement. Politics, laws, personal morals and agendas all get dumped in one big pot to boil over and eventually fester. It is all very confusing...and then out pops something nasty. In this case, the misogynistic right wing.

Frankly, I am not surprised that the right-wing has found a little nest within the Rammstein fandom. I do not say that because I believe Rammstein harbours any sympathies with that ideology - I like you firmly believe them to be a left-leaning band - but simply because people's media literacy skills are in general....ah, how to say this politely?....ah yes, they are fuckin' shit.

Rammstein is a band that rewards those willing to look deeper; those who love satire and those who simply have a good sense of humour. Unfortunately, they also appeal to those who really like when things go BANG.

Now, I also like when things go bang, don't get me wrong - pure sensation can never be underrated in terms of art. However, its a matter of aesthetics versus text. A reasonable person would conclude that these can't be separated: their interaction, whether it be complimentary or contrasting, creates the meaning. In the case of Rammstein, however, there exists a neat line, formed due to the language barrier between the band and the general audience.

This barrier has benefitted Rammstein - I believe they would not have gotten so far if their content was in English, for instance, but it means there are too many who only see "the picture".

The hardness. The hypermasculinity. The violence. The sexual imagery. The stoicism. The evocation of fascism. And all without the crucial framing of the lyrics.

Even when the satire should be self-evident, many miss the cue. Take Links 234 as an example: a song which functions as a politically rally for the left, specifically against the right, and was constructed in response to a reactionary media who sought controversy and not understanding, has ended up as a right-wing marching song in many minds.

It is very frustrating

Even more frustrating is deciding how to deal with this....

Argue with every idiot you see on the internet? Now, that's a Sisyphean task.

Leave the fandom altogether? Well, that feels like a different kind of defeat.

Realistically speaking, there is no silver bullet. One decides what is best for themselves. Personally, I feel no fear participating in the fandom as a queer AFAB person. Reality is different from the online spaces and I have never felt uncomfortable at their concerts, and when online, the block button is a blessing. I have no idea how this recent controversy is going to change the demographic of the Rammstein fandom, but I know I ain't going to fuckin budge to leave space for some Nazi twat. All I can say is, I hope this situation is resolved quickly, and I hope all Nazis die in a fuckin' fire.

ok idk maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I want to hear your thoughts:

“All Those Years Ago” is kind of…tasteless, right? Like, he’s using a melody that he had already written and then there’s all that religious stuff? idk, like it doesn’t really feel all that heartfelt to me which I didn’t expect from George. Good tune though.

Hmmmm. Okay so, I do largely agree with this (agree about the Religion Stuff being a bad call—but personally don't really see the issue with him using a pre-written melody), and its how Ive felt about the song for awhile now. Not sure if its an unpopular opinion or not though, since I don't see enough discussion surrounding the song to say (I do however know that at least a few other people on here also feel the same way about it).

What bugs me about him bringing up religion in the song is that it kind of hijacks Johns death in order to spread a message about God, which feels disrespectful to me tbh. If John had consistently been a very religious person, I don't think Id really have an issue with this because it would have probably been what he'd wanted. But Johns theism tended to waver, with him going through different theistic phases. So its kind of clear that he was essentially agnostic, and while there were periods of his life where he was more dedicated to certain religions, he tended to outgrow them eventually.

Which is why I find it annoying that George would write something like "They've forgotten all about God / He's the only reason we exist / Yet you were the one that they said was so weird / All those years ago". He's taking the image of someone who was ambiguous and unsure about religion, and then using his death to send a message which is kind of, dare I say, irrelevant.

I would like to clarify though that I don't think George did this with a mal-intent or to consciously try and make Johns image align perfectly with his own beliefs. Most likely scenario is that he probably just got a bit too passionate and swept away by his religious beliefs. It is still just an aspect to the song though—which is otherwise a BOP—which I personally find uncomfortable.

@idontwanttospoiltheparty has a different take on the song though, so if you want to read a counter argument to my own here's a message she sent me once on it:

I have to say, I feel like All Those Years Ago gave me like….kind of clarity on what I think George thought of John, like in the end. But maybe I'm going off the rails with over-interpreting.

So I just think to him John was…like someone who was basically his partner in his transition like into his spirituality. Like the person who saw him through that, and despite them being estranged he always valued him as yeah….this person who accompanied him on a crucial part of his journey.

Like it sort of comes through in the song with how much he focuses both on like You Were So Much Smarter Than Everyone You Got It and specifically how it's "all those years ago", he remembers him mostly for how they were a long time ago.

And there's an interesting part of the song — so like, it seems like George was relatively unbothered by John's death as a concept, but bothered by the violence and unnaturalness of it — and I think some of the weird God ranting is because he's remembering like all the times he thinks John was mistreated and saying it's because other people don't get it.

Like it does actually all feel related to me in a way? Very loosely.

And I find it interesting cause he plays into the whole Martin Luther Lennon trope which only half existed by That Point, but I wouldn't think George would be insincere and yeah, I think he's talking about something far more personal that happens to sound a lot like the Jean Jacket narrative.

dramatica act 1 brief summary crosspost

its an adaptation of journey to the west but dont worry too much about it.

wataru plays the human monk sanzo, hokuto plays the monkey goku, nagisa is the dragon gyokuryu, shu is the pig hakkai & natsume is the kappa gojo

this summary was written for a specific conversation so its missing a lot of details id add otherwise. i wanna do a proper one eventually, im just backing up this version for now LMAO

sanzo frees goku from 500 years in prison under a mountain. after some conviction he gets him to follow along on his mission which is the journey to the west (specifically india), this involves putting like a headband on goku that sanzo can use to inflict pain on him by reciting a sutra to control goku (who does not want to do this)

they convince the other characters who follow along much easier. its very important to me to note that natsume has a rap song and is a rapping kappa

the fight and defeat ginkaku and kinkaku (also played by shu and natsume, theres a LOT of costume changes)

essentially after a timeskip of several years, the journey nears its end. they are attacked by human bandits. sanzo tells the others explicitly not to kill any humans. goku accidentally kills a human & is essentially banished from their travelling group.

the group (minus goku) settles down to rest bc sanzo got injured, they split to scrounge for supplies. sanzo, now alone, is attacked by a shapeshifter pretending to be first goku, then, when goku eventually shows up, the others

goku rescues sanzo and is let into the group. um he has a whole song about how true freedom for him means that hes choosing to be shackled to sanzo.

THE ACTUAL BIG SPOILERS HAPPEN HERE:

the group reaches the border of india but gojo receives a vision of some sort of "fire related disaster"

the fire-related disaster turns out to be some sort of volcanic eruption followed by gyokuryu, in a different costume, now addressed as "gyumaou" by sanzo attacking the other.

sanzo claims gyumaou's family was slaughtered by goku, when he walked the path of evil, and he is now attempting to exact his revenge

gyumaou is very clearly gyokuryu, under mind control

reveal: sanzo is attempting to bring the journey to a premature end, after some fighting the reason for it is revealed as well: if everyone perishes on this journey, they will be forced into reincarnation to attempt to finish it once again due to the importance of their mission, with everyone but sanzo losing their memories. sanzo has done this a LOT of times.

the group manages to defeat sanzo by essentially causing a giant explosion, killing all of them, but goku gets one chance to talk to sanzo again, essentially convincing him that like... clinging to memories like this and being unable to let go is NOT good & that he wants to be able to keep his memories rather than relive the entire journey over and over again

their conversation ends, the blast catches all of them. scene end.

when the lights come back we are back in gokus prison in the mountain, mirroring the opening scene of the play with a few changes; goku manages to remember a few things sanzo told him during their journey and is. overall abit more enthusiastic than before abt starting this journey. and thats basically where it ends

I’m still insane about FRAME btw. They’re doing a “rewrite” of Great Comet of 1812 with more crime.

Eventually Arashi scraps the whole thing and just writes it herself with Leo composing, but Anzu has the original play on her phone as a gift from the main cast as a thank you.

The cast is as follows: Natasha is Shu, Pierre is Tsumugi, Anatole is Ibara, Sonya is Yuzuru, Hélène is Rinne, Marya is Niki (because he’s gone gray), Fedya is Kohaku, Andrey is Keito (unwillingly), Bolkonsky is Eichi, Mary is Wataru and Balaga is Madara.

They’re doing this play in the dead of winter, so we get a lot of shots of the cast covered in snow/shivering in their costumes. Madara gets mild frostbite. Tori sets a chair on fire for warmth after asking Eichi and his sister for advice. Ibara has a mental breakdown on the bleachers they’re using for the audience. Wataru is having the time of his LIFE.

Yesterday in the midst of the queen dying tumblr frenzy i just read the first paragraph and short circuited i could not handle reading more lest i fucking die. You combined my. You combined my favorite musical (well it's a tie with Thrill Me but whatever) and my biggest hyperfixation *shakes you by the shoulders* im sooo normal.

Although i do think you just reinvented the Dramatica circle no? With a few extra characters and some missing (honestly i prefer this group but shh)

Wataru as Mary and Eichi as old Bolkonksy is killing me. I am listening to their song rn and im actually dead on the floor, Wataru would have so much fun. In the "where are my glasses??" meltdown halfway through the song Eichi would make direct eye contact with Keito in the wings, that's 80% of the reason he accepted the role. The fact that Keito is playing his son is even better. Eichi vs Shu here is like. War 2.0

Pierre as Tsumugi................no words. I expect you mightve seen the time last month when i had a breakdown cuz i kinned his first song too much to be healthy for a 20 yo. Moving on,

Madara as Balaga is just correct, he'd have the time of his life. But for Dolokhov, i kind of want Hiyori to play him. Is that ok? I think the ibara-hiyori-rinne trio would be funny.

I also think having Rei play Marya would be funnier, but yknow what would be just insane? Mika playing her. Ill give you a minute to think about how this would flip their dynamic and relationship like a tornado. No one would survive. Theyd have to swap 2 weeks into the production mika and yuzuru's roles just so theyd make it to opening night. Also Mika singing Sonya Alone would destroy me, go listen to it Now and tell me he wouldnt have flashbacks to Shu's breakdown in the the war. Id add lyrics to prove my point but itd just have to be the whole song cuz it just fitssss anyway anyway im sooo normal about this.

Marinette

• She was devastated when she heard the news about Adrien running away.

• Her devastation got worse when Chat Noir was announced missing.

• She began to go days without sleep searching for Adrien and Chat. She only stopped doing it as much once her parents, Alya and Nino sat her down for an intervention.

• As Ladybug she constantly tries to call Chat only to ever receive static.

• She would keep a look out for Chat during patrols and during akuma/sentimonster battles.

• Blames herself for pushing her partner away. If only she hadn't been so secretive. If only she trusted him more. That's why he ran, wasn't it? He ran. He wasn't missing. He ranaway.

° You know the Gary Come Home song from Spongebob? She plays that on loop while looking at compilations of Chat Noir, asking him to come home. Some people have caught sight of her, the music loud enough that they can hear and get an idea as to what she's feeling.

• Part of her is in denial about Chat running away. It was the most logical thing. But she still wanted to believe he didn't leave willingly. That he was kidnapped or forced to live with family outside of Paris, Europe even.

° This is also connected to the fact he took his miraculous with him. Chat didn't quit. He just...wasn't active and she was worried for the worse. She didn't want to face her Kitty as an enemy. It's one to do it when he's under an akuma's influence and in an alternate timeline. But if he became her enemy, free of Shadowmoth's control in any shape or form, she wasn't sure what she'd do. Especially if she had to revoke the miraculous from him.

• Found comfort in Kagami, which eventually led to the two of them becoming a couple.

• During the final battle, when Gabriel was revealed to be Shadowmoth, she demanded he tell her where Adrien was. Thinking maybe, just maybe, the runaway story was a cover up to make people sympathize with him. Adrien didn't runaway and was actually in London with his aunt and cousin.

° It was one of the few things Gabriel didn't lie about. Adrien did runaway. Not like it mattered. He fully expected Adrien to return from where ever he ran to once he made his wish to bring back Emilie. Ladybug felt no remorse when she decided to knock him out cold and hand him to the police. She had two people she cared about to find.

• She cried when Viperion called a team meeting just to reunite everyone with Chat Noir.

° She was outright sobbing when she asked if Adrien was okay, and rather than give her a "yes" or a "no" as Chat Noir, Adrien dropped his transformation and told her he was better than okay.

Nino

• Asks himself if he ever did anything to push Adrien into running away.

• Doesn't know who to blame or who to be angry at. Himself? Adrien? Gabriel?

• He considered giving up on being Carapace.

° He felt like he messed up. Not only did he reveal his and Alya's secret IDs, but he pushed his friend away when he got akumatized and he hurt Chat Noir as well. Why? Because he was jealous? Alya was allowed to have friends. Adrien was trying to make him see that. And yet...

• Was livid when Gabriel was revealed to be Shadowmoth. And when Ladybug told him what he told her, he was absolutely furious.

• Since Luka is the one who's able to go the farthest out to search for Adrien, Nino often calls him to ask if he's found Adrien.

• Can't bring himself to delete Adrien's number despite it no longer being in service.

• When Adrien returns with Luka and a whole ass circus, Nino pulls him aside and struggles to tell him everything. From how sorry he is, to how mad he was, to how much he missed his best friend.

• He almost didn't accept his miraculous back after everything. He felt like the last time he used his hero identity it just led to bad things.

° Yes, Ladybug was upset he revealed things. Yes, she was mad he knew Alya was still in action. But she needed more help than ever now. She was giving him one final chance to set things right, and Nino swore that when Adrien and Chat returned, they would find their friend has become a better hero. One that wouldn't hurt his friends over something like blind jealousy.

Gabriel

• Acted like he was hurting when he learned Adrien ranaway, but he was genuinely furious about it.

• Made Lila the new face of his brand.

• He didn't say anything, on the chance of it backfiring on him, but he believed Chat Noir left with Adrien. He believed he helped Adrien runaway and was keeping him away, and thus, kept away the miraculous of the cat.

• Tries everything he can to make sure Amelie and Felix don't come to Paris to "support" him and "be there" for him. They show up anyways.

° He's very suspicious of Felix in particular. He (Felix) keeps making passive aggressive comments about Adrien finally running away and how he wished he had been able to help his favorite cousin in doing so.

• Outright told Ladybug it was Chat Noir's fault Adrien was able to runaway. That the mangy cat took his son and decided to runaway with him as to ensure he wouldn't get both Miraculous. And how he was an utter fool, thinking it would work. Because he had to be watching their "final" showdown. And when he saw her in trouble, he would come running.

° He was in prison when news about Adrien's return to Paris came to light. He thought maybe Adrien decided to step in his place. That, while finding out in the worst way, he realized he could take Ladybug's and Chat Noir's miraculous and make the wish to bring back Emilie. Imagine his shock when he learns Adrien has given up everything he's had. And how him being in Paris isn't a permanent thing. How he's found happiness in a circus of all things.

Akuma Class

• Mix of emotions when the news broke out.

• Lila took the opportunity to use it as a way of making others believe she tried to talk Adrien out of running. She wasn't that successful.

• Max, Markov and Kim are the ones who end up finding Adrien's phone.

° Max and Markov tried to salvage what they could of it, but there was nothing to save from it.

• No one sits in Adrien's old seat.

° Marinette snapped when Lila tried once. Nino wasn't happy about it either. They both made it very clear that the seat was to be empty either until: Adrien was found, or they were no longer a part of the same homeroom.

• Alya uses the Ladyblog to ask people if they've seen either Adrien or Chat Noir.

• Miss Bustier does her best to support her students. She knows they're all worried for their friend and promises to keep an eye out as well for Adrien.

• Lila, much like Gabriel, was pissed that Adrien ranaway. However, she figured that him running away meant their deal was officially broken.

° It was, as she learned when she got a package sent to her. Alya gave it to her, saying it showed up at her house with a note that it was for Lila. One final gift from one Adrien Agreste that was to be opened in school. Not waiting for even a second, Lila ripped open the box just to be met with an explosion of glitter and confetti. And a sole note that read:

"You made a deal with my cousin. You should be happy to know that the deal is off.

However, I offered one to him that was much more appealing. From now on, I'll be the one dealing with you.

And trust me, when I'm done with you, you'll wish your deal with my cousin was still in tact.

• Lila became weary of packages sent to her. She'd never met Felix in person, but after telling Gabriel, she knew he was someone who'd likely stand in her way. Which was unfortunate, since he looked like Adrien, she could have tried and forced him into pretending he was Adrien and that he returned because he missed what they had.

° She soon realized that Felix not only allied himself to his cousin, but to one Marinette Dupain-Cheng as well. While it was clear to her that they weren't friends, it was also clear to her that they both hated her and would rather team up against her than fight each other.

• The girls help Marinette get rid of photos of and gifts she made for Adrien. Having them made her feel worse, so she decided to get rid of almost everything. Only really keeping photos where Adrien was with her and their friends.

• The class isn't sure what to think about the alliance between Marinette and Felix, but they've come to accept seeing him once in a while.

° They also accept that Felix won't say if knows where Adrien is. Just that he's here to "support" his uncle and to keep up his part of a deal he made with his cousin. It sucks, but Felix's loyalty is to Adrien and Adrien alone. So if he doesn't want to be found, he's not going to say anything.

That doesn't mean he's actively trying to stop them from searching. They can, and if Adrien decides to come back, he won't make him leave again.

having been here from the very beginning i think my fave aru sekai series lore is that

• despite it very clearly being a series (it is. it IS i can prove it to u) hiiragi magnetite has never addressed it as such. the fan art tag on twitter is aru sekai bijutsuten However it was chosen via poll and was a listener created tag. hiiragima themself has yet to say anything about it being a series. if u ask them a question (for example when i asked if the charas have names) they wont correct u & know what ur talking about but nope. they dont talk about the content of the songs outside of the songs at all

• possibly not aru sekai but we'll see eventually- they decided to make a song thats one second for every like they got. theyre currently making a song thats 70,000 seconds long (like 19 &1/2 hours). they have the file name saved so that "seconds" is replaced with "illness" which sounds the same in jpn

• the content is so fucking specific every time i see other people try to translate it theyre like "this was so confusing". they are so right but also i promise u it gets 2% easier when u know the songs are related

• sena yuta does the art for the main aru sekai series songs. asa is the other illust. even tho asa tends to do art for nonseries songs (nadenna, uni, rasshaina) marshall maximizer & canon are absolutely part of the series & i cant believe i keep seeing people over look this. the motif is RIGHT THERE. canon says aru sekai de in THE FIRST LINE whats not clicking

• many songs have context as text flashed for a frame in the video background! as of right now aru sekai soushitsu, kyuuyaku hankagai, shuuen touhikou, unplanned apoptosis, marshall maximizer, canon (this ones in code) have text. oumen mokushiroku, kugutsu ashura, laboratory do not. (if u want to get technical oumen has the ou kanji to say its part of the aru sekai shoushitsu order but theres no new information in it)

• all of the songs except for kugutsu ashura & laboratory have the "nami no ne no yume wo miyou" melody from aru sekai shoushitsu worked in somewhere. if u dont believe me ill get u time stamps if u ask. those two songs dont have it but im telling u its thematic, they ARE part of the series, but i cant only really theorize on what it means until we get more songs & content

• hiiragima once said "if u dont know how to read the title of kugutsu ashura you can just call it ashura" this is especially funny bc they always put furigana for their titles in their descriptions.

• they actually do a good job of getting characterization across once u get past the technical language they use. some of them are a lot more obvious than others (unplanned apoptosis. i think this girls so funny bc its so different from everything else) but theres a lot u can get from the word choice/play once ur used to all the weird science (?) terms. sena yuta's art also does an AMAZING job of getting their characters down in a single drawing. u can tell so much from the art for real. this is a whole essay in itself im stopping here for now

• all the characters have names!!!!!! i would know i asked directly & they responded they said yes the characters have names but theyre waiting for the right moment to reveal them. every day this torments me both bc i would like to call her by name instead of saying tenshi everyday and also bc i know this means they have plot significance & im not ready to handle that

• so far all the charas in the songs are girls but if i remember correct the bg text in some songs (shoushitsu & maximzier i think? id have to double check) refers to there being at least one guy in there somewhere.

• this is just a personal note but none of these people have basic lab safety i mean look at their outfits. if the world wasnt ending they die anyway wearing that esp the laboratory chara but i digress

• in general the series is ur "the world is ending and we need to find a way to stop it from ending"typical story i guess. not only plays on destruction of the world but also destruction of the self. its not ur lighthearted easy to handle voca series if u want that may i suggest honeyworks or perhaps last notes mikagura school suite instead

• we dont have a timeline. i can tell u from context the songs arent being posted in chronological order. i have no idea what the order is ive made a guess before but its just a guess.

• theres a paragraph in shoushitsu about a swampman & hilarious as it sounds it actually describes exactly whats going on. both about how the world functions in that no two attempts are the same but also that people who lose their "self" are also The Same But Not. which is interesting to know its so thought out considering the time between songs & how hiiragima claims to just be doing whatever they want. its very cohesive. somehow.

• i have no idea why the english titles of the songs are like that on youtube. i dont know if they did that themself or not but i for one refuse to acknowledge that shuuen touhikou is called "blade" over there. girl what how did we get there u just lost soo much connotation doing that. i want to say the swords arent even a main part of the song but i dont think i can actually. anyway the "eng" titles on yt dont exist to me

• the theme used to be 5 kanji title songs were the main songs and katakana with the first repeating (ex MArshall MAximizer) were more like. sub or context songs. and then we have like canon & laboratory so idk if those are just another type of song along with the others or if they decided they didnt want to follow that anymore. i need more info but still something to note. the kanji songs also used to be sections of shoushitsu (kyuu, shuu, ou, fuu, mei, juu, mou, ei) but then, again, kugutsu ashura threw me off so [vague confused gesturing]

• rain. thats all i need to say really. very few songs that dont have rain or the color blue in it somewhere & that's absolutely intentional.

• i saw sena yuta say something about flower language in regards to the laboratory art but i never saw if they elaborated and my friend whos into flower language was having a time trying to pin point what flower it was so for now another mystery unsolved
