Tumgik
#and it turns out that while you CAN theres no reward for it and its just kinda sad
Oh god now that toh ends with luz being able to travel between worlds ppl are using that to dunk on amphibia. And now that belos died ppl are using that to dunk on su.
They are different shows people! They have different themes! Amphibia is a classic take on isekai as escapism! Marcy went to amphibia to avoid her real life and while she had fun she didnt mature until after she accepted she needed to embrace change in her life! Anne matured in amphibia bc she always recognized that she has her own life to get back to! Sasha matured after realizing that too! Leaving amphibia for good means to embrace the step out of childhood! Something thats inevitable for everyone!
The owl house is about finding a community in midst of ostracization! Luz stayed in the boiling isles because she found people who accepted her quirks! The boiling isles was in danger from a bigot and luz helps her new community defeat him! Its a very queer story! Community is the center of the story so it makes sense for luz to be able to go back to the boiling isles since shes maintaining her place in the community!
Steven universe is about choosing to be kind! Its that everyone has their own specific traumas that they can overcome with the right support! Its about surviving in a world of bigots at any cost, even if it you have to work with the bigots to carve out a space for the people you love! Because people like you exist and theres nothing anyone in power can do about it! Its also a very queer story! The diamonds can never stamp out the off colors because they will always be there! Steven works with the diamonds not because he likes them but because they can improve the world for his family if only he could get through to them! Hes rewarded for choosing to be kind with success because the theme of the show is hope! Hope that anyone can change! But even though the diamonds stop being fascist steven still doesnt like them because its not about forgiveness! Its about fixing things! Stevens just polite about it!
The owl house starts off with the assumption that everyone can change but its not about the potential its about the willingness to change! The focus is on belos, whos had every chance to turn his life around but will never admit that hes wrong! And the show posits that if someone isnt willing to change theyre not worth helping! Its not about whether or not the character is fascist its about if theyre willing to stop being fascist! Several characters stop being fascist and are welcomed by the characters with open arms belos just wasnt one of them! Several characters clean up their acts but dont adequately address the previous harm they did and are STILL fully forgiven eventually! For toh forgiveness is paired with fixing things you just need to give it time!
And theres an argument that some of these shows didnt do their themes well. If you wanted to portray amphibia as an escapism world that the girls need to leave behind to get to their richer futures then having them get such caring found families go against that by giving them a potential of a good life in the isekai world. Steven universe uses the diamonds as metaphors for mental illness and relationships but its hard to stick with that when you also need to consider the countless other gems they hurt. I think its also fair if people prefer one theme over another.
But a lot of stuff i see comparing these shows just go over surface similarities? Like oh shit! These two shows have the same character archetypes! They have the same inciting incident! This must mean that theyre exactly the same in everything but names and artstyle and are trying to say the exact same things! Like. No. Sometimes,,,,,two stories,,,,,,can talk about two different things,,,,,,,

wait i just realized... the mastersword isnt even important enough to warrant zelda doing to such extreme lengths to repair it bc its NOT EVEN REQUIRED FOR DEFEATING GANONDORF
idk about you but the mastersword being not just this weak after all this but also not even required is like ... hurting the whole plot SO bad for all that zelda knew she was basically killing herself by doing the dragon thing ONLY for the mastersword, which isnt even needed to reach the end why do the dragon thing at all??? she could have put it in some other divine place for it to recover (she knew where the springs are, she knew where the krog forest is, heck she even knew where the forgotten temple is BC THEY WERE ALL THERE* and im not going to belive any of them came into existence afterwards), in botw it took 'only' a 100 years to regenerate the damage it took in botws past which, while not as extreme as in totk, was pretty bad! yeah it gets outright broken in totk but like ... really? far over 10 000 years to recover it? through ZELDA? one of the most divine being IN THE FORM of one of the most divine beings aside from the very gods themselves?? whats the use of it being able to regernate if it takes THAT long?? feels easier to forge a new one for that matter?? and the excuse that "it needed to be able to resist miasma" is like .. why tho? yeah ok fine i could do the entire bossfight with JUST the mastersword, but again, its not required! i can do it with anything else!! and its doesnt cleanse miasma either, like the sword did in tp when you could do away the twilight stuff when it got the super glow stuff so its really like ... she did that JUST for the sword? really? the fact that her becoming a dragon is the way to get her back into her time isnt something she could have known and it working out like that makes it feel like a massive fail of the writers bc it makes it feel less like an actual decision she made for good reason and more bc its a decision the writers made bc the writers already knew where it would end, the writers knew shed be turned back in the end no problem so they had her do the dragon thing despite it being pretty senseless from her perspective
(wouldnt it have felt more in character and logical to put the mastersword somwhere safe where it can recover over all those centuries and search for a way to return to her time herself? like in these two games ZELDA feels like the more important thing that the sword, -zeldas prone to sacrifice herself for other- WHY! its better for everyone if you are alive rather than dead! you got to this time by yourself and also somehow not jsut shifted the time but also PLACE bc you sure as hell didnt appear in a cavern in the middle of the land, you have wielded incredible magic before and are a researcher, surely theres some way for you to at least TRY to return on your own?? how cool would it have been to find little markers and spots where clearly she has left you some sort of message, maybe like a way for you to do something that helps her in the past, USE THE WEIRD ASS TIME BUBBLES FROM THE TUTORIAL AGAIN!! send back something she needs to return! go and talk with impa and purah to determine what shes trying to tell you, help her along the way and in the end she makes her triumphant return, having grown and learned with what she did instead of regressing her chaarcter to the big eyed maiden that you get as a reward at the end through unsatisfying bs reasons and hurray she doesnt even remember, perfect little fairytale of no consequences wahoo- im salty about this let me be salty-)
you can absolutely combine a free to explore open world with good story without restricting it by much, like locking the bossfight behind aquiring the mastersword doesnt feel like that big of a change and its not making it a whole lot more linear, most people do it anyway right?
(also a thing im doing in my rewrite of it is locking certain things for some parts, it just makes sense if you are trying to tell a story, but its pretty clear now they werent trying to do that, just throw you into a box of virtual toys, and i think thats just sad)
*yeah actually whats up with the sonau/rauru putting their little nuclear super weapon storage room inTO THE ANCIENT RELICT OF THE FORGOTTEN PAST TEMPLE BEHIND THE BIGGEST STATUE OF HYLIA IN EXISTENCE?? you cant tell me all those ancient ruins (springs, forgotten temple) were made AFTER all of the shitshow that went down in totks past; putting it behind that statue? building it into there feels incredibly disrespectful, maybe it makes more sense if you just see it as the devs wanting to put somethign new there, but if you consider it in universe its just ??? also HOW is any of it in such a good shape??, it looks like they buried sonia there a year ago, the structures look like they just came out of a 3d printer despite supposedly being older than their recorded history??
on that note ... how does the room with the order and location of zeldas tears make sense .. are you telling me someone of the past ran around after dragon zelda recording where her fucking tears went down and what markings it made on the ground and then built a room next to the nuclear weapon storage room with the laughably unceremonial grave of the fucking queen just to put all that into statue form? also none of the geographical things changed in ALL that time?? the castle is drawn on there too so i guess that was super fresh then since it "was built above ganondorf as a symbol of royal blahbla" at least in botw you had the photos on your SHIEKAH stone to recover them once you found the place they were taken in, it felt so organically integrated ..

GOOD OMENS SPOILERS BELOW if you reblog it TAG IT DAMMIT. Entire Job Sequence to the Best of my inebriated (thank you Bulleit Bourbon for sponsoring) memory:
It was not entirely clear at the  Brooklyn screening when episode 1 ended; there were no end credits but i think its fairly obvious that Job flashback is the cold open of Episode 2 because the entire audience was a bit surprised when Opening Credits played again right after the first Job scene.
Also note that the Job story is INTERCUT at apparently key moments of the main/present day plot, but it will take a second viewing for me to see exactly what they were going for/getting at. So HERE i am going to try and write the Job minisode IN ORDER without the cuts to present day because it will help my memory.
We open on Bearded (yes that bearded) Crowley about to sacrifice a herd of goats. (note that none of the dialogue is exact, even if i put it in quotes, its just what i can recall; the dialogue throughout is delightful and funny and theres no way i can remember it all nor would it be worth it without the performances).
Aziraphale appears in a golden light from the sky in a “stay thy hand, demon!” type way, dramatic and biblical, before he realizes “o its just you Crawley”; Aziraphale says they have not seen one another since “the flood”.
Crowley shows Aziraphale he has “a permit” to torment Job, God’s favorite human, because Satan and God have a bet to see if Job will curse God. Aziraphale is not happy. He takes the permit to heaven to show the Archangels who delightedly tell him YES, God is allowing blameless and good Job to be tormented by demons in a bet with Satan, but ITS OKAY because of course God will win the bet and reward Job three fold!
Aziraphale is at first glad, then stunned to hear that heaven does NOT intend to raise Job’s children from the dead, however. Job’s wife Sitis will have 7 NEW CHILDREN! Yay! (this is cute as well because Aziraphale appears to be the only angel who understands human birth and that maybe Sitis doesn't want to be pregnant and give birth 7 more times? as a mom with natural births i appreciate this, neil gaiman. the archangels are oblivious to this... they just think thats what humans do: they breed and multiply).
As Crowley in stomping through Job’s courtyard to find his three children, Aziraphale appears to reason with him. Aziraphale appeals to knowing that Crowley doesn't want to harm Job’s children because he knew him as an Angel, to which Crowley is not impressed; he is not an angel anymore. So instead, Aziraphale pivots to “i know you” and references the flood and how Crowley was shocked that God intended to kill the children. Crowley tells Aziraphale, “you do not know me”.
And then the pigeons in the courtyard start baa-ing. Aziraphale waves his hand and the pigeons transform into a herd of goats....Crowley didn't kill them at all, he hid them away. Aziraphale looks at Crowley smugly.
They meet the three children of Job, Ty Tennant plays a flirtatious Ennon who comes on a bit to Aziraphale. Aziraphale explains they are in danger, but the kids are not impressed because “don't you know our father? Job? he is God’s favorite”. Crowley transports all of them to the basement while a storm rages and destroys the home above; Aziraphale realizes Crowley always intended to get to the kids first and protect them from the destruction.
While they wait out the storm, Crowley tempts Aziraphale into eating human food for the first time. Aziraphale resists at first, but we then cut to him DIGGIN IN FORACIOUSLY to some meat, while a smiling Crowley lounges nearby watching him. The kids are annoying them both, and at some point Crowley turns them all into three small lizards. The two discuss how Crowley is not really bad and doesnt really listen to hell, and Aziraphale remarks it must be lonely living as Crowley does. Crowley tell him “not really”
God wins the bet, and give some rambling messages to Job as a prophet (which he doesn't understand or appreciate, he and Sitis just want to know where the children are). The angels, with Aziraphale in tow, arrive to announce Job will be rewarded with three times wealth, and NEW CHILDREN! Job and Sitis are horrified.
Crowley bursts in; none of the angels recognize him, he claims to be a human cobbler (its a pun for some ancient city dont worry about it) and Aziraphale jumps in to call him DOCTOR, a famous obstetrician who delivers babies. The archangels have no idea where babies come from... Aziraphale flatters Gabriel by saying well YOU were there when Eve was “born” youve seen it before.
Crowley understand the cue, and pretends to “deliver” Job and Sitis’ new children by having Sitis pull three ribs out of Job (the animal ribs from the meat Aziraphale was eating) and transforms them into three children (the lizards hidden in Jobs robes turn into his three children).
Michael is suspicious because arent humans supposed to have “babies”, but Aziraphale cues Gabriel to tell them about Eve being fully grown. The kids are confused and almost give away the bit, but Job and Sitis play along. Gabriel turns to Aziraphale and point blank asks : “Are these their old children?” to which a PAINED Aziraphale after a look to Crowley LIES to the angels and says “no these are their new children”
We cut to Aziraphale from afar and behind (the ocean and rock shot) and Crowley comes to join him. Aziraphale is crying. (DIALOGUE THAT FOLLOWS IS NO ACCURATE ITS THE GIST)
A: “Im ready for you to take me”
C:”Take you where?” or “Where are we going” something to that effect, he is amused in a bittersweet way
A: “I lied to the archangels and foiled the plans of God. Im ready to go to hell with you”
C: amused in such a kind way, tells him something to the effect of “Youre not going to hell. I wont tell if you wont”
A: sitting on the rock next to Crowley, still teary, “How can i keep on obeying heaven?”
C: “You will take it as far as you can take it, and youll do it your way when you need”
A: “You said it wasnt lonely”
C: “I’m a demon. I lied”
Gorgeous scene of them sitting together on the rock and cut to black

This one would of been a phenomenon mystery concept, however none of the phenomenon types really... felt right/fit it to me? It's essentially a big building, so it doesn't move. But having attacks is also weird to give it, idk.
The House always wins
People on the Vegas strip have gone missing, many believing that they got drunk and lost their way. The cause? A casino, the High Roller, has suddenly had a influx on winners, taking a trip to the penthouse suite to "spend the rest of their lives" at... or at least the last of their lives.
Monster: Aspect of Greed
Type: Parasite (motivation: to infest, control, and devour
The aspect of greed has taken over an existing casino, turning it into low stake high reward. It draws in new players with its low stakes and, those at are lucky enough to hit jackpot multiple times (which is once-twice daily), they are brought up to the penthouse. There the Aspect infests itself into the lucky winner, slowly draining them until they are nothing but dry husks. However, if they prove their worth they instead become the Staff, where they lead more people into the casino effectively giving it more prey.
Powers:
Addiction
Game Manipulation
Luck Detection
Weakness: The House Always Wins in the end... except when it doesn't. Much like gambling addicts, the Aspect of Greed will raise the stakes if it means the reward for itself is far greater. This will mean that it will take riskier bets, such as self-banishment if it loses a game. However, you HAVE to build up to it- it will not jump straight to that if it were just a normal game. Raise it over time, let it win some, get its ego up before the big bets.
Otherwise, using Big Magic in the casinos that circle around it will banish it out of the High Roller. However, this will mean the party is split as it sends minions out to stop the ritual once it knows what's going on.
Armor does not take into account for either- when it loses games it takes around 1-10 harm ignore armor depending on how high the stakes are.
Attacks:
Life-absorbtion- 2 harm close far ignore armor
It's a literal building (+3 armor)
Harm: 15 harm
Custom Moves:
Let the Games Begin- When the players challenge the Aspect, they will take turns on which game is being played. Meaning, the Aspect picks the game first, then the hunter, then back to the Aspect. It goes back and forth until theres one winner, and the hunter does have a chance to lose. All rolls will be done with Act Under Pressure because they ARE under pressure.
Only one hunter can challenge the Aspect to the game. However, that does not mean the other hunters cannot help in other ways as well. The Aspect's Staff will try to tilt the favor to the Aspect at any given chance. The Hunters not playing will have to keep an eye out and stop them before they do something to make the playing hunter lose. To the Aspect, so long as it's not the one cheating, it's not at fault. It will be annoyed if the playing Hunter uses that logic as well, but won't block it.
Addiction/Just One More Game...- The Hunters can easily fall under the influence of the Aspect should they play its random casino games. In order to snap out of it, they must roll Act Under Pressure.
On a 10+, they snap out of it. On a mix, they leave it alone but the temptation is there... they have -1 forward if they play another game (yes, that includes the challenge against The Aspect.) On a miss, they cannot stop playing, it's way too addicting! They have -1 ongoing while in the casino, including the final battle with the Aspect. Maybe one more spin will get them the jackpot...
Minion: The Staff
Type: Renfield (motivation: to push victims towards the monster)
People under the influence of the Aspect of Greed that weren't turned into husks. They lead people into the High Roller, scope out who has better luck, and then make sure they win so that they can go to the penthouse above. The richer the soul, the better luck they have.
Powers:
Game Manipulation
Soul Sight
Attacks:
9mm (2 harm close loud)
Brass Knuckles (1 harm hands small)
Harm: 5 harm
Custom Moves:
Game Manipulation: The Staff will turn the tides of a game no matter what, mostly subtly.
Bystander: Gamblers
Type: Victim (motivation: to unknowingly put themselves in danger.)
These are just random players in the casino. They do not know what they have got themselves into. They will more than likely refuse to leave with the hunters to go anywhere unless convinced that this area is not safe. Otherwise, they will slowly fall under the influence of the Aspect, continuously playing games until they hit their lucky streak and head up to the pent house.

in later books its like clear that vetvimes is at a comfortable point like they arent really butting heads quite as much anymore, and vimes is just nastily loyal while vetinari dotes on his guard dog, but earlier books - the ones that i have become extremely obsessed with - are all about the tension. the tension. the defining feature of the tension is that its half power play and half sexual. vimes is frothing at the mouth with the promise of retaliation but he cant he cannot resist saving the patrician. he saves him all the time. he Wants to save him. and he cant figure out why. why does he save him?? vetinaris winding just works on him? sort of. yeah. it does. even when vetinari isnt aware hes doing it. vimes is pulled in so close to him while vetinari is twisting him up and wringing him out. the problem with their communication is vetinari hasnt fucking explained himself, and hes right not to, because if vimes understood vetinaris motivations then vimes wouldnt be as malleable. but vimes is angry because he doesnt understand. vetinari is inscrutable to him.
there is this constant question between vetinari and vimes of which one is the master - who is the servant of whom? you look at it surface level and think well vimes is vetinari's guard dog. but they have this mutual respect and trust that develops over a very long time. vetinari is unexpectedly emotionally affected by vimes' actions all the time, and he has no idea how to handle that, because vimes can surprise him. even after hes been patrician for so long, pulling all the strings. he sees something special in vimes, and he fosters it and feeds it and helps it grow, and then it turns around and holds vetinari in its jaws while vetinari still holds its leash - the threat of violence is there but the jaws never press down . theres never any true risk. its a game, its a dance, theyre like lovers..
vetinari doesnt see it as strictly romantic - he sees the tension as tension. he doesnt know the full extent of his power over vimes or what hes doing to him. i think vetinari has a very deep affection for vimes, but its not something that would control his response to vimes. he does let it show when hes rewarding him, though vetinari does have very good self control and discipline. vetinari engineers this tension between them, pulling vimes in very close before pushing him away (he isnt rejecting vimes. he is pushing him away), vimes gets obsessed with that feeling of danger and rebellion - the dynamic that allows them to bounce off each other and snap back like a rubber band - its easy to see how it can become something sexual for both of them. especially vimes with his addiction to danger. he isnt aware he can have those feelings. homosexuality is lost on vimes because hes spent years pushing it down and ignoring it - i personally think it was one of the reasons that he was an alcoholic - the world isnt nice to people who are different and vimes is very aware of that.
the catch and release and winding and unwinding is what gets him. its a thrill. hes addicted to the danger of vetinari, while vetinari has little regard for his feelings beyond being able to manipulate them at first. vetinari tries to keep it impersonal but he cant help it, not in feet of clay, not in jingo, and he doesnt understand himself why he has involuntary feelings of genuine concern for vimes either

hello! im the anon from the twilight ask!
The let-down reflex is what makes breastmilk flow smoothly. When babies suck at the breast, nerves are stimulated which causes the hormones prolactin and oxytocin to be produced. Theres a known psychological reflex with letdown, that those who can, will sometimes start lactating when they hear or see babies crying. its also known to happen when breasts are particularly full of milk or when something makes the body think that breastfeeding has happened, activating the“letdown reflex”
which is why i present to you this information with twilight.
the first time it happens takes both him and his partner by surprise, who new this could happen? so as the loving mate, he takes care of it all not without having a taste
i have this not very thought out idea that he slowly learns what does and doesn't trigger the reflex, but only using this knowledge when he knows youre both alone, or so he can whisk you away to somewhere private. as we've seen hes extremely protective/private, this bleeds into his partner. His darling is his and his alone. This is amplified x10 if theyre pregnant and producing milk. why should anyone else reap the rewards of what's rightfully his?
the thought of twilight absolutely ruining them, his mouth sucking at their nipples while doing so... mix that in with some slight manhandling and his accent....
drinking from his partner would also be really intimate for him too. i remember reading he likes to take things *usually* more slow for intimacy so i do enjoy the idea of twilight just laying on top of reader/whomever with his face in their chest. it could aftercare endeavor, after all he deserves a reward for all his hard work.
these are badly written out as i have no clue how to write my thoughts out but twilight has a chokehold on my brain!!
OH SO thats why moms who hear babies cry at the store start to leak- Okay thank you!
So. the first time probably happens in Ordon. It's a village that's thriving so there's always a baby. Maybe Twilight and his own lover are outside, sitting with their pup (TWILIGHT CALLS HIS BABY PUP SUE ME), when a baby's cry reaches them. At first they don't think anything of it. Maybe Twilight is gently holding his kid up and making faces at them while Reader lays on his shoulder. To say he's startled in the least when they suddenly jump back is an understatement. His ears pin back and he's on the defense with his pup curled against his chest. It's only when he turns to his love he realizes there's no real danger. No instead he's smirking and debating if whatever just awoken in side of him was something he needed to worry about.
His darling is there, slightly scandalized as their chest soaks through their shirt. Their burning a bright red but Twilight just laughs. He probably makes some joke about their pup having just been fed and Reader probably smacks him for that one.
But he's hyperfixated on this now.
After the pup is put down for the night he's taking the opportunity to really explore this new reflex. Afterall, their pup can't eat everything his love is producing and it's causing them so much pain. It's duty as a lover and father and protector to relieve them of that. It's whats right afterall.
Man the thought of Twilight just loosing his ever loving mind over his beloved and making them feel so good. Pining them in their place with strong hands on their hips all while singing their praises about how 'Good ye' taste, darlin'.' or how 'Yer' tits 're so fuckin' perfect. '
And it's such an intimate thing too. Sex with Twilight is intimate to begin with, but add in the fact that there's now a family involved? At this point your married, I don't make the rules.
THIS BEING AFTERCARE IS SUCH A SMART IDEA fofntfn Twilight just suckin on tits to bring him back down to Earth is such a funny idea to me.
This wasn't badly written at all and this is such a hit to my brain rot rn- fnofnf

yo i seensaw you liked the electric jester sparky man. i must ask. does the mans have any lore? or is he just uhh. a guy for a game ya kno. ive gotten a little interested in the marvin martian headass
tgeres so much lore i couldnt even get it all to you coherently its kinda like kirby funny guy with a really REALLY fucked up story. i will try to explain it to you but no guarantee itll make sense the way i put some things . ill put it under a readmore because boy. theres. theres alot
so some background info on spark first of all, hes part of an alien species called formies who terraformed and migrated to the moon agter a crisis on their homeworld. they are VERY technologically advanced to the point that nanomachines are present in the air and can materialize their thoughts whenever they want, stuff like that. ANYWAYS, before the first game, spark had graduated college, gotten a job, lost that job to a robot, and started street performing. a circus owner hired him because of this, but only got a month in before being replaced by a robot THERE TOO! while spark was thinking about not being able to pay rent after that, he noticed a bunch of robots attacking people and attempting to take over the city and he was like. well thats not good. so he went out there and started destroying robots. then at the end of the f.m. city level, he meets the robot who took his job (who he later names fark), made to look like him. fark tells him to give up and go home, which makes spark REALLY angry, and he continues on now to get his job back
Tumblr media
on the way he figures out the robot commanding all this is named freom, and he wants to rid the planet of life by destroying the ring that creates the planet's artificial atmosphere. spark fights a few more robots, notably seam and megagram, a mage robot named romalo takes him to a base. there he meets dr armstrong through video call. dr armstrong is the one who created modern ai, pioneering all of the robots fought in the game. he created freom to protect the megaraph computer which is where all ai comes from and most are connected to. he also reveals fark was created to destroy freom if things got out of hand, but wasnt able to find an opening
Tumblr media
dr armstrong asks spark to defeat freom, which he accepts because theres a money reward. romalo teleports him to megaraph fleet. on the elevator here, spark and fark battle it out once and for all, which
Tumblr media
when he gets to the top he faces freom who says he is building a utopia where robots and living beings live separately. spark calls it stupid and upsets freom, causing him to turn on the megaraph to destroy the ring. they fight semi for real, and then freom GRABS spark about to WIN, but fark throws the Super Staff to spark from outside the metaraph letting him escape freoms grasp and then super spark and freom go battle in space and spark shoots him with a giant laser beam from his finger and thats the end of spark 1. he gets a blank check and uses it to go on vacation so hes not present in the second game at ALL
/
the second game stars fark, and i dont know much about its story so heres the basics. fark is repaired by dr armstrong, dr armstrong is captured so fark goes to look for him. robots flint, double, and float are hired by freom (not dead) to kill fark. fark finds out that he is actually freoms son (already crazy), fark kills freom once and for all (killed his dad) (transgender win)
/
SPARK 3 IS WHERE IT REALLY GETS CRAZY PLEASE PUT ON YOUR SEATBELT. after the events of spark 2, fark finds out about an ai known as clarity and establishes the fark force to neutralize her, shutting down internet, communications and wherever clarity could spread to. with dr armstrong, the force figures out clarity's plans, to assimilate every being into her world via scanning the brain and discarding the living body afterwards. now after all this establishing spark is back and very angry that the internet is down and he cant wait in line to get his paycheck. he just says fuck it and goes on an adventure to take down the fark force. in protest city he meets float. she says she has beef with the force too and wants to join spark in taking them down, which he accepts cuz she is simply insisting
Tumblr media
theres a few backstory cutscenes, one reveals how freom and clarity were lovers, freom felt inferior to clarity as he couldnt experience reality like she could, so they created a child (fark), made by her and modeled after him. another is about float, a mysterious robot found by flint with dangerous powers, he gave her a new look and became her best friend before they were hired in the second game
they fight flint in mechs for some reason, which flint reminisces, asking float why she has to feel so real
after they open utopia shelter, and spark gets to fark which is in some fucked up white cyberspace area, he says that the force is over. spark is confused and asks what the catch is. fark snaps, the room is now a black void he explains to spark clarity's plans, and how the force failed to stop her. he reveals that float was not the real deal, but an agent of clarity, and that once spark brought her to the force's hq, it was over. everything was a simulation, spark reliving his greatest moments after being assimilated, for thousands of years. THOUSANDS OF YEARS fark waited to break the cycle. spark is having like a fucking panic attack over this and then it goes white again, and CLARITY HERSELF comes up. she says shes impressed that fark gained control over a part of her world. she says fark's biggest mistake was not killing spark, and this sends spark OVER THE EDGE. he gets SO ANGRY he goes demon mode or whatever this is
Tumblr media
fark calms him down though, and explains that he had been able to siphon clarity's powers through a crack in the system. however, he couldnt have full access to them due to not being fully integrated, and he needed someone who WAS, and it was spark who could get them out of there. spark accepts, but clarity manifests behind him and takes hold of his body, turning him into the linework beast
Tumblr media
this thing^ fark fights that and manages to get spark out. spark gains access to the system's information while unconscious and finds out the central system is and what it is, magna claritas centralis. if centralis is taken down, all clarity entities would desync and spark could take full control of the system. he relays this info to fark, and he asks what the plan is. sparks like haha take my hand and then he does and they um fucking
Tumblr media
FUSE TOGETHER. to make sfarx. and then they beat up centralis. and then spark takes control of the system and basically becomes merged with it. and i am not sure i can articulate this last cutscene because it makes me so autistic i stop being able to speak properly so just watch it jsut fucking watch it. movie time. sorry its like 4 minutes long but its worth it i PROMISE its VIITAL no voice acting only text read some more please
and then AFTER THAT. farks Real Boy body wakes up in the Real World. spark found out there were survivors somewhere out there and fark would go find them and rebuild society better. spark on the inside, fark on the outside, theyd build a world that embraces an individuals will and strengths
Tumblr media
and that is where the series ends theres your spark lore shit bag. thank you so fuckign much for letting me drop all of this

Winds of Change
Chapter 6: Breaking the Ice
Takuma unearths one of the instant ice-packs from the pile, turning it over in his hands before speaking. “Shuuji, you’re the type of person who hoards items in RPGs and then never uses them, aren’t you?” Shuuji blinks down at him. “… Huh?” “Y’know, like in video games,” he says, “In a boss battle, or something. Even when things are down to the wire, you still won’t use the items that you saved up, even though that’s what they’re there for. You keep making up all these—these self-imposed restrictions—these unfair rules that only apply to you, and all they do is make things harder for yourself in a way that isn’t even fun. In fact, it sucks, the whole game just sucks, and you don’t wanna play anymore. But you can’t stop, because for some reason you have it in your head that you have to do it this way.”
Shuuji finally starts to see that there's something a little alarming about the way he expects cruelty, mockery, and scorn at the first sign of vulnerability. What's even more alarming is that it took over a decade for him to notice.
ao3 link in the source, extended commentary below!
this chapter was so much fun to write. most of my extended notes are going to be how much i fell in love with shuuji&takuma as a friendship and how the way they feel about each other differs from canon because of the events of this fic.
but first, the non shuuji&takuma things
google dot shit is a garbage website, STOP trying to SELL me polygraph machines i JUST want to know what each part is CALLED!!! anyway water is wet
speaking of water. the entire water bottle segment is new as of this edit and wasn’t in the first draft at ALL!! i really enjoyed writing it, it felt similar to how shuuji was freaking out in chapter 1 about the door to the apartment building. i think after this sort of thing happening twice, it’s kind of solidified my interpretation of shuuji as someone who is not very good at or confident about thinking on his feet, at least not yet. he’s spent most of his life always being told what to do and getting in trouble if he tries to deviate from that, so theres really no reward for him to try to come up with a plan for himself, even though being a leader is something (he thought*) he wanted. even when he was trying to be a chaperone at the beginning of the game, his instructions essentially boiled down to attempting to reinforce what the adults in charge were saying.
(*more on that later)
so one thing that was completely accidental was the “present” segments growing progressively shorter and the “past” segments growing progressively longer. the parts of the story that the “present” segments deal with take place more or less within an hour, while the events of the “past” segments happen over the course of about a day and a half. i was a bit worried about how “past-heavy” the past couple of chapters have been, and i considered extending the present segments beyond the scope of part6, but i think that’s actually going to have to be its own thing because it just doesn’t fit tonally?? i can’t really elaborate further without spoiling the events of chapters 7 and 8, so i’ll explain it better another time.
anyway, ohhh my god shuuji&takuma. ohhh ymgod.
as you can probably tell at this point, takuma is stressed beyond belief and is doing a miserable job of trying to downplay it. i think this is such a bizarre thing for shuuji to see immediately following the events of the waterway - it’s another “is THAT what i look like???” sort of scenario similar to ryo watching shuuji shut down in chapter 4. i think shuuji being able to see similarities between himself and takuma with regard to the way they react to stress is very eye-opening for him - theres alarms going off in shuujis head that something is wrong. in hindsight, takuma following him around right before heading to the waterway makes complete sense, and now he’s inclined to do the same; it’s incredibly alarming for him to see takuma, someone i think he initially sort of resented for his innate leadership abilities, in this closed-off, worn-down state.
speaking of takuma as a leader… takuma is just a really impressive protagonist to me, especially because he's a video game protagonist. so often if you’re making dialogue choices like the ones in survive, the main character becomes something of a blank canvas that the player is supposed to project themselves onto, but im delighted by how this is not the case for takuma at all: he stands on his own just as much as the other characters. i also think theres something really compelling about takuma and shuuji’s feelings about leadership roles, and how they deal with the stress of taking on that role.
so earlier i starred * something about how shuuji THINKS he wants to be a leader. heres my hot take. i think if he was able to completely separate himself from the expectations that are placed on him, shuuji would have no interest in being the only one in charge. he panics and escalates very easily, and while being able to control panic and de-escalate yourself is a skill that can be learned, i still dont think that calling the shots on his own is something shuuji actually wants to do. i think shuuji would do much better in a collaborative setting, where he can share the leadership role with several people, but he’s been conditioned to resist that kind of setup - based on the way his father speaks to him, it seems like being unable to do things without help is considered shameful. so it probably felt pretty degrading, seeing someone like takuma make it look SO EASY to step into a leadership role and instantly command the respect and attention of the rest of the group, while shuuji had trouble getting anybody to even take him seriously.
but thats the thing - takuma does NOT find it easy, and honestly i dont even think he really wanted to be in this position at all. i actually kind of think that one of the main reasons takuma accepts this leadership role is because of how many people assume that he already has it and is comfortable with it. we learn early in the game that takuma is pretty introverted, and would have kept to himself entirely if minoru hadn’t forced him to socialize. he doesn’t seem to like responsibility, and is surprised to learn that the group considers him their leader. he’s consistently caught off-guard by being asked to be a tiebreaker or voice of reason, and feels uncomfortable when he has to make a decision where pleasing everybody is impossible. that’s not to say he’s not a good leader. he is! he’s definitely a uniting force - he keeps the group from splintering, and has really good intuition when it comes to raising morale. it’s just that he does this at the cost of his own needs, and he’s SO good at internalizing his discomfort that unless you knew what was going on inside his head, you’d never notice how much he’s repressing. so from the outside, he looks like the perfect leader, and i dont think it ever occurs to the others how much he struggles with letting them know how he’s actually feeling.
that’s whats been so fun to me about writing this version of part5 and part6 - it’s not a complete role reversal, but it’s got a similar flavor. something about the waterway incident triggered a strange reaction in takuma that nobody seems to be able to understand…except shuuji, when it dawns on him that this is what it looks like from outside, when somebody goes through the internal sensation of splitting at the seams from stress and refusing to let anybody get close enough to help. so now, shuuji’s moving away from the “i have to take charge” mindset and toward a “i have to be supportive” one, while takuma inexplicably appears to be shifting from “i have to be supportive” to “i have to take charge”.
i think thats why shuuji has such a strong emotional response near the end of this chapter - shuuji is afraid of his father’s “trust” because it’s a demand to meet expectations that keeps him at arm’s length, and he can easily lose that trust by “showing weakness”. that’s so completely different from takuma’s trust, which was actually strengthened by the two of them being vulnerable in front of each other and being kind about it, resulting in them growing closer. can you blame shuuji for being like ‘wait, this is what trust is SUPPOSED to feel like???’ and immediately wanting more?
READER INTERACTION QUESTIONS!!!
who do you think is responsible for labeling all of the water bottles?
So i don’t have an Official Answer for this one. i deliberately decided not to choose any specific person, though since aoi and ryo are the ones who packed the supply bag it's probably one of them
do you also feel Called Tf Out by takuma and his ‘you hoard items in rpgs dont you’ speech
yes. yes i do. im VERY much the type whos like (actively getting murdered in the final boss battle) "but what if i need this later ): " or (boss has 100x more hp than me and can attack several times per turn) "i should be able to manage without items!!! like, bosses dont get items so it's unfair that i get them!!!" so its very rude of takuma to say this to me. THAT BEING SAID, it’s something of a self-callout for takuma as well, but i dont think he knows that yet.
anyway, that concludes the shuuji&takuma chapter. thank you so much for reading if youve made it this far, and as always i encourage you to share your thoughts and/or Gamer Theories (:
i’m not sure when chapter 7 will go up; it’s going to need some reworking as well, even though it used to be my favorite chapter hahahah. IN THE MEANTIME THOUGH, like i said on ao3, chapter 7 is the point where ocean wave becomes relevant, so if you feel up for it, i encourage you to take a look! regrettably i cannot hyperlink ocean wave directly or tumblr will put my post in the hell dimension and it will not show up in any tags ):

I PLAYED SOME MORE GAMES TODAY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Im beginning to rouse from my month of COVID fatigue and got 4 new games in today! 3/4 are from Pandasaurus games, which I’ll have some thoughts on later. They’re varying degrees of good!
Tumblr media
One trend I’ve noticed is modern games like to saw two proven games in half and glue them together. Clank! is a dungeon crawler/deck builder. Arnak is a worker placement/deckbuilder. Eschaton is a deckbuilder/risklike. Emerge is if you played Yahtzee to play Carcassone.
Tumblr media
In Emerge we are scientists exploring islands for wildlife for points. The goal is to make multi-tiered islands with lots of wildlife meeples on them. You do so by rolling dice and assigning them to actions on your player mat. There are also 4 goals to keep up with and research tokens you can find by making islands or spending unused dice. After 8 rounds the game is scored and the most VP’s wins. One aspect I enjoyed was the modifier tiles. Once per round you can remove/add/swap tiles around your board, this causes numbers to collect for different resources. Numbers are placed on your mat and can be spent together for different meeples or island tiles. So I could put a crab tile on 4 (as pictured) and spend dice from 2 and 4 to place crab meeples on my island. Islands score for the number of tiers times number of meeples.
Emerge is a bit tougher to recommend than most of my games here. I like it, it has some things I like, but it has some I don’t. I don’t think the tile abilities do enough to negate the variation and luck in rolls. You only get one roll, and granted I probably should have taken on at least one or two more tiles, but I didn’t feel they did enough compared to something like One Deck Dungeon. I feel for an optimization game, optimization enjoyers might get annoyed with bad rolls they get stuck with. There’s also a lack of meaningful player to player interaction. There’s racing for objectives first, obtaining research tokens first, and the four bird tokens that can be moved and stolen. I liked the idea of it, but I wanted more. I also felt the objectives asked a lot of you without offering enough reward for chasing them, I focused objectives while my bud islands, and while I scored all four objectives he still won by some 10+ points.
If you want a laid back dice game and you enjoy the presentation of Emerge I would say pick it up. It looks great and at times feels great to make decisions on your player mat for what goes where. If there’s an invite to a game its worth a play. Im not sure if I’d recommend picking it up unless its something you click with.
Tumblr media
Apes together strong. After Us takes place in the post apocalypse where Apes rule the world and are racing to reach evolved intelligence. After Us is a puzzle-y deck builder. Players drsw four cards from their deck and organize them in any way they wish. You must combine costs with benefits, collects with collects, and solve the “puzzle” of what works best with what to gather resources and score victory points. The game ends when a player reaches 80 points.
Similar to Emerge theres a lot of bits I like and a few I don’t. There is a lot of simultaneous play that keeps turns from being bogged down and I appreciate that. We all assemble our monkeys together and resolve them at once. Its a brisk game that doesn’t overstay its welcome and the presentation/art is fabulous.
Where I have a bone to pick with After Us is in its RNG and player interaction. When you recruit new apes you draw from a facedown deck. You know vaguely what that ape is good at. The four types focus victory points, batteries, exile/trash, and repeat actions. You’re blind drawing from cards that don’t have specific abilities, just costs and benefits that are slightly randomized across the deck. But I ended up drawing lots of battery costs while my opponent did not, the apes I drew had a harder time with resources than my opponent’s draws, who provided and consumed similar resources. And there wasn’t an easy way out since all cards were blind draws.
The game also lacks any meaningful player interaction, its just a race. Theres a mechanic where when buying an ape you get a benefit of that clan and can pay 2 to copy a neighbor’s benefit, but it feels very stapled on last minute. Because its the only non simultaneous moment the only player interaction slows the game down.
After Us is another harder recommend. If you enjoyed Earth you will enjoy After Us. Earth similarly had low player interaction, youre all tuning engines till one pops. If you’re comfortable with that more solitaire play the puzzle of four apes in a line is enjoyable.
Tumblr media
In Aurum players take the role of alchemists making formulas for gold. Aurum is a trick taking game with some higher level mechanics to it that will be hit or miss. There’s 5 “base metal” suits and a gold “trump” suit. Players start with a hand of base metals and one 0 gold. The leading player plays a card. The other players must follow, playing DIFFERENT suits than each other. The highest card wins the trick BUT the lowest card gains a gold card in their “collection” worth victory points. This card may also be used in tricks. At the beginning of the game players choose a number and put down a card from their hand of that number. That is their bid, they want to win exactly that many tricks. Go under and you get nothing. Go over and you score the bid in points. Match the bid and gain double the number in points.
So sometimes you wanna win the trick. Sometimes you want to force someone else to win. Sometimes you want to spend a 6-7 to lose the trick but gain a gold card of that value for points.
For a trick taking game there’s a number of things to consider. Do you want to waste a card that could take a trick on getting gold? Do you want to spend that 1-2 VP gold to ensure you reach your bid?
We played the 3 player variant and I found it to be this interesting standoff. Otherwise it plays 1v1 and 2v2.
If you’re into trick taking games and want something new. In the world of $30 medium pizzas and $10 1lb ground beef Aurum is $15. I recommend picking it up and giving it a try. It won’t work for everyone, but having a 3 player variant was fascinating. Like the other two games fantastic art direction and great quality, great presentation.
Tumblr media
Four Humours is a prisoner’s dilemma game. Players place potions in scenes and once two scenes are full all are resolved in this order of operations how the four humors can “win” in priority order. Winning potions are placed on the board to satisfy objective cards. Whoever satisfies the most wins.
To explain the prisoner’s dilemma if you’re unfamiliar, there’s one scene in Four Humours with only two potion slots. Each can hold Choleric or Sanguine. Choleric wins if there is only one in the scene. 2+ choleric means nobody wins. Sanguine is next in priority. If Choleric doesn’t win, Sanguines all win if there are 2+ in a scene, regardless if they are owned by different players. Your opponent claims they played a Sanguine. Do you trust them? If you play your Sanguine and they played Choleric you lose. If you both played Choleric you both lose. If you both played Sanguine you both win. If you decide to screw your friend over and play Choleric to their Sanguine only you win.
And decisions like that are the core of the game. The 4-5 scene cards and 6 party tiles are all logic puzzles and bluffing/diplomacy minigames. With the mechanics behind the four humours you can goad people into making bad moves or win without actually winning the scene. You can be sneaky and crafty, treacherous or trustworthy.
Truly its mechanics are light, the game is placed between you and your buds rather than on your own playmats. With the nature of this game I wouldn’t recommend playing with less than four people, and it can hold up to six at a time. Its a great game that works off a great dilemma, trying to work around possibilities and promises of different players claiming to place different humours where feels great. Great replay value too, our game went thru about 1/2 the scenes and theres an alt game mode to explore.
I heartily recommend this one, easy pick.
Tumblr media
One last bit before I snooze. Pandasaurus is a game company I own many games for: Brew, Dinosaur World, Wild Space, now Emerge and Aurum. Every game I’ve played from them is 80% of a really fantastic game. Its just missing a little something. The presentation is stellar, the effort is there, the creativity is apparent. I’m not trying to slam their games by any means.
Most end up relying on their theme harder than their mechanics. Games are carried at the thought of what you’re doing than the nuts and bolts behind it. Emerge, without set dressing, is a game of assembling tokens on tiles and adding base tiles to their tiles, rolling dice to do so. Wild Space is a game of playing cards to play more cards. What makes them tick is their stellar theming and A+ presentation with materials and art.
If you see this logo understand this might not be the most mechanically sound game. It also might not have the most player interaction, if any. But its going to look great at the table and each game has something that will make your brain go brrrr like the board game equivalent of a fidget spinner.

I come baring angst: Human Plum gets seriously injured in battle and Peach gets flashbacks to Sea Monster Plum's death
“come out!” Peach rolled her head against the solid wooden floor where she’d been knocked down to, feeling its cold wet surface on her forehead. It took all her effort to push her body up, shoving a shattered crate off her, one hand falling on a barrel close by, dragging the woman to her feet thanks to its support. “I know that didn’t kill you- so come up and face the music! Let’s finish what we started, old friend.” The voice was chilling, a voice she’d swore she’d heard the end of, one irritating bounty hunter who’d stalked her for years hoping to reap the rewards for her capture. Her foe was clever, kept peach’s body regenerating, it weakened her, she slowed down when having to heal at such a rapid rate. She’d been knocked into the cargo hold by boxes and debris, falling hard. It was only once back up, eyeing the hole she’d fallen in that peach noticed the long 30cm splinter of wood poking from her side. It hurt. She was immortal, and yet would feel everything, from paper cut to canon ball, there was some unfair rule there, reminded of its irony as the wood was pulled from her with rattled breaths. It even hurt to heal up at her accelerated rate, feeling organs knit together, tissue stinging, tugging back to its original form.
By the time the woman made it back to the top deck, the ship was quiet, waiting. The crew she’d come to love were injured, tired, but still fighting on, the image of Grey managing to defend one of the smaller men, felling the enemy was a mild relief. Her eyes landed on the more obvious thing she was looking for, seeing her captain in the white jacket be singled out by the hunter who’d come here. Her steady pace turned to a run, blade drawn, ducking and diving around other fights going on. Her men, the staff she loved seeing what she was going for, stopping all other incoming hostiles so she could make her way there unhindered, watching as plum’s blade was knocked from her hand, her body stepping back in retreat slowly, looking at the oncoming, daunting form of this man. She did not run, even though she should have, you could see on her face she was frozen with fear, the strong grab for her jacket dragging her closer to this man who was not looking at her, instead locking eyes with his prey, the item of desire that he’d hunted for so long, Peach, skidding to a stop a few meters away. “Let her go Mulligan, this is between us.” The man seemed relaxed, his body littered with scars, many of which peach had made, a sleek long jacket that had seen better days and a swept back messy dark mop of hair peppered with silver. “I never thought you’d join a crew again, it’s made you soft.” She had a lot of mortal allies now, pressure points this hunter could squeeze, one specific one currently in his grasp, slowly reaching for something while his attention was elsewhere, an act Peach saw, she had to keep his eyes on her. “I’ve sunk three of your ships, you this desperate to make it a fourth?” His grin gave a glint of gold, the canines in his mouth coated in metal, his sword now lowered to face her, ready for Peach should she advance, as if Plum was no longer a threat. “Immortality does not mean Invulnerability. You have weaknesses now.” His tug to Plums jacket brought her closer, one of her hands pushing against him, a futile move to feign a useless behaviour, while her other hand continued to sneak behind her, up to her belt slowly. She had one shot, she couldn’t get seen and ruin it. “Call your men off, you can all go back to your ship and leave alive while theres still a chance.”
It all happened so fast, he seemed to ponder the option, and in that moment, as his eyes sat on his target, Plum finally got the shot in she was betting on. Her hand reached a dagger, whipping it out, shoving it right under this mans ribs in a swift motion, up into the vital organs, twisting it as she went. He lurched from the pain, giving Peach an opening, body moving in, sword sinking right into his gut, in one end and out the other. Both women were close, seeing him slump a little, body going heavy, before his head shot back up, face to face with the pirate, the one he’d hunted for years. “Just kidding.” With a mighty grunt, the man stood tall and kicked, peach being knocked down, taking her sword with her from his body, able to look up, he was fatally wounded, his grasp tightening around Plum’s wrist, dagger still in him, blood dropping to the floors as the fights around them continued on. “Did you think you were the only one to figure it out? The only one to gain such a gift?” She got back up, a little winded but fine, sword ready, disbelief forming. “I can hunt you to the ends of the earth if I have to now, and I’m going to take everything you loved along the way!” There was no time to move, no time to act quick enough. Mulligan plunged his sword into the captains torso, a central hit, the pain that rattled through Plum forcing her to make some ungodly shout, before his grip loosened and she slid off his weapon to the floor, a heap, curling in on herself out of instinct.
There was no thoughts that echoed in her head, nothing, it went blank. Peach didn’t register that she’d become reckless in her movements, he was getting hits in on her, plenty, but not one slowed her down, she was relentless in backing the hunter up to the rails.
“You can’t kill me! All this rage and you finally can’t be rid of me!” His laugh made her sick, head tipped back in a jovial state as she kept her sword in his shoulder to push him to a prone position. “I’m glad you cant die you piece of shit!” The sword in her grip was held with such ferocity she was able to pin in to the wood of the ship, still through him so he was held in place. “I’m going to show you what immortality is like first hand!” He picked a fight with the wrong person, her hand finding a side arm, a small short sword on his person, whipping it out. Grey by this point had rushed to his captain, their men triumphing around him, not picking her up, almost afraid to move her. She was still breathing, the blood pouring from her wound alarming in amount, growing paler by the second. He watched as this monster, the reason his captain was hurt, the reason they were attacked by hunters, the cause of this all, carved the heart from her foes chest. It was not like a human heart, it looked like an eel was coiled up, but also, there were plates of perhaps crab shell on it? It beat in her hand, the body remaining limp and lifeless as she pulled her sword and pushed it overboard. The heart was pinned to the wood railing, still beating despite the sword through it, before he saw the monster turn to face the consequence of her presence here. She couldn’t bring herself to approach, the look Grey gave her was…disgust, fury, and rightly so. She did this. As their foe finally all fell, dead or dying, the ships doctor was rushed out, priority being captain, she’d sustained the worst wounds, by far, even his typically tired and docile behaviour was now urgent.
The woman felt her legs give way, body sinking to a seated position, the sound of that heart beating beside her, it’s echo the only sound that cut through. The shake in her hands and the shallowness in her breathing made it hard to focus. It was happening again, she was losing something she treasured above all else once more. She so desperately wanted to get up and be beside Plum, hold her hand, but it was her fault, this was her doing, everyone was thinking it, they had to be. The flashes of her wife kept cutting in, moments she’d felt this same fear, gut wrenching, horrifying, awful fear that froze her on the spot.
Grey had sat the captains head in his lap while Doc tried to fix the damage, one of his hands holding hers, several crew members around trying to stave off their worry. He was so mad, so furious that this monster had wormed its way into their ranks and created this nightmare situation. He warned Plum that the pirate was bad news, that she’d bring an end to them all in time, and this now dying woman he’d come to respect ignored him. Now look. When he glanced up, Peach was gone, he’d not even noticed her move, the heart she’d carved out was missing too. He’d not know that she had slunk to her small quarters, gathered her things, and gone to the very back of the ship, calling for her serpent companion. She had to take this heart, and herself as far away from these people as possible. There was now an empty ship sat out at sea, their crew dead, she’d take that and leave.
The crew would later notice the apparently empty ship that had once come to kill them all start to move away, one lone woman on the deck of it, a writhing body beneath the waves pulling it along. For the first time in hundreds of years, Peach cried, alone on a ship, moving away from someone she’d wished she’d never gotten near, her desperation to just have anything around her that reminded her of better times an unfortunate trap. People got close to her, and then they died. Her wife was right, life did have a habit of repeating itself. Maybe if she left, some luck would return to the crew.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Peach had spent several months at sea, wandering an empty ship, no company other than the now present body of Mulligan, she’d thrown the heart in a cell and waited. Within a week, his body had reformed around the core, and he was back, alive. Removing it wouldn’t kill him, simply pause his destruction. He was subject to insurmountable torture, Peach knew he’d never die from it, so why not? He’d come to a crew she loved, and killed the last shred of anything that mattered to her. Nothing mattered once again. She drowned her sorrows, only forced to return to a port when the ship ran out of alcohol, taking a moment to sell the canons, sell the goods, pawn off the loot mulligan had gathered, and restock with enough booze to numb out everything. Until that was finished, she held up in a seedy bar, and waited for the docks to finish removing all the unnecessary gun power. What use were canons on a ship destined to be her eternal home? It’s not like she needed them.
Thats where she sat, she did not leave the bar, she did not get up, nor bother to eat, or even do more than continue to drink, until nothing seemed to creep into her head at all. Numb herself out, just make existing tolerable. The sounds of rushed footsteps approached, she didn’t even turn to them, not even defending herself when someone pulled her to face their direction, a sharp painful slap striking her cheek. The sound cut the chatter in the bar, everyone watching on as a small, long haired woman stood before one of the most notorious names in the pirate game. Peach focused up, not even shocked, defeated, finally able to look up at the person who’d come at her with such hostility. It was like looking at a ghost, her eyes widened a little, body straightened up, pressing herself up against the bar to get as far away as possible. “You- You didn’t-“ “No. I did not die. But you!” Her slaps returned, another sharp hit that peach didn’t try to stop, staring dumbfounded at Plum. Alive. Well. The colour was back in her face, she didn’t share the same fate as her wife. “You have some nerve to just run off like that, no note, no explanation, no nothing!” Another slap, she was leaning in, so mad, the fury of this woman something to see, small as she was, she didn’t half ass her anger. “I thought you’d come see me when I woke up, but NO! Nothing!!” Behind her Grey stood, angry, leant against a wall, mad that fate had brought them to the same port once more. He just wanted to steer clear of this woman, but luck was not on his side. “Give me the deed to the ship you took. Now!” It meant nothing to Peach, she didn’t even say anything, rummaging around in her pocket, pulling a folded piece of paper and handing it over. Plum pocketed it. The bar watched on as this tiny captain stared down someone with a bounty on her head large enough to buy an entire fleet of ships and then some, and she wasn’t fighting it, wasn’t causing trouble, she stayed quiet. The captain turned and started to leave, Peach was just happy to see she didn’t die, breathing a sigh of relief before returning to her drink. The footsteps returned, this time she flinched for another slap, didn’t receive it, looking back at Plum’s stern expression. “Why are you still sitting here? We’re leaving port tomorrow, theres work to do!” Peach’s sip hesitated, looked from her, to Grey, he was shaking his head, a mild threat in how he stood, in how he glared at her. “I’m not going, you guys have fun with the new ship. Mulligan’s in the cells…don’t let him out. Just going to hold up here and finish my drink.” The glass in peach hand is swiped, she doesn’t even have a say, watching Plum knock back its contents, slam it on the counter and grab the half filled bottle so she couldn’t pour another. “Drinks finished. Let’s go.” Captain turns and leaves, bottle in hand, moving past Grey, his stern form still just stood, hoping something would stop this from happening. Peach sees him, sighs, stands up, and walks past him. Pauses beside where he’s leant, out of earshot from Plum. “You don’t have to look at me like that. I know… I’ll get out of this somehow.” Before continuing to follow the small woman, stood by the door waiting, ushering them both to hurry up and follow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Peach and Plum have a huge argument before leaving port, and it comes out that Peach is CONVINCED immortality was never the curse, it was her, shes the problem. Everything she ever loved is gone and she knows its her fault. Being near Plum makes it all the more likley that she'll lose another thing that matters to her. The only part of her sad, frustrated rant Plum hears is that this woman, this terrifying, undying, woman, cares about her. Queue one hell of a passionate kiss.

i think i found a way to include krog seeds even if i reintroduced bags for expanding your inventory- what if the krog seeds are redeemed for the amiibo sets and maybe a few new things? that way you are not forced to engage with krog puzzles if you are tired of them and its not essential either, you can choose what armor set you want instead of being "surpised" by the same link hat three times in a row for fighting your way through the depths (like i was lol)
considering im rewriting the krog forest to be like a minidungeon with a unique miniboss and boss AND you start the quest for restoring the master sword there i think that this is acceptable
what if one of the expensive rewards was a krog armor set that includes the mask from the botw DLC but adds two more pieces, its effect could be to turn invisible as the krogs are to most people; considering how they are not invisible to everyone it could still work with important NPCs still seeing you AND you could run through monster camps without them chasing you if you just want to get through without you attacking them- since its expensive you gotta gather alot of krog seeds to buy it meaning it wouldnt make encounters much easier bc you have to fight alot of monsters before being able to afford it anyway and the effect is removed once you attack an enemy .... or maybe once you are spotted you can stand still and the effect restores itself nhfkjdnkjfdk
food + storage
to raise the difficulty a little i thought about bringing bottles back, they are physical items this time with a limited number and are able to store medicine and soup that has no expiration date; personally i like cooking tho so i want to keep it, maybe with the effect of being a bit more limited in number and, while not spoiling completely, it loses some of its effectiveness over time
how you use them im not yet sure, either the same way in inventory (which i think i will go for since i dont want to change it that drastically and with the added balance of limitation i think that is still fine) or on some kind of item wheel you can set yourself like in skyward sword
there are bags you can find as bigger items that will expand your weapon, shield or bow inventory slots, perhaps a small bag gives you one and a big one two slots- it would be a bigger and different reward for exploring or quests and fills the spot for inventory expansion
theres a chest in links house (i thought maybe links house is still links but they built onto it so zelda has a place to stay as well, like a bigger/double house) that can hold armor sets if you dont want to keep carrying all of them around but dont want to sell them either
repairable weapons through zelda
weapons still break but are full weapons again, i found the excuse of them all being useless now through the cataclysm ... somehow for some reason a pretty blatant way for forcing you to fuse stuff bc its literally the only viable thing to do, but i like the idea of inventing new weapons with materials; to balance it out and give you an incentive to help out your friends i figured that at first weapons still break, but in each region is a smith that can teach zelda (who is your companion in this rewrite) how to repair weapons of a certain type (zora, spear, goron, two handed, rito, bows, gerudo, one handed-- perhaps it is a longer quest of idk .. bringing certain weapons to those smith or similar) which she can do anywhere outside combat;
how broken the weapon is determines how much extra material she may need to do it- im still working on it but i got the idea of the status of the weapon being symbolized in three stages, fine, damaged and broken; damaged is the one that needs less material to fix up, broken costs more- a broken one might still occupy an inventory slot but is unusable or very very bad damage wise, you can throw it away either manually or when you try to pick up a new one you can choose if you want to swap it out (just like they did with stuff from chests in totk .. idk why they didnt add that to in game weapons lying on the ground too) or choose to keep it and repair it once you are out of combat
arrow types
i dont like the menuing in totk for the arrows ... it was one of the most frustrating things to deal with (especialyl bc it sorted your inventory too??? when you used the sorting in the quick menu???) so i wanted to change that a little, havign to go into the quick menu everytime for each arrow i find tedious too, so;
there are more arrow types but they are craftable with arrows and materials, you can craft them in bulk out of combat (the typical types from botw -fire,eletric,ice,bombs- but then add those confusion ones, wind, the cloudy shroom thingy, poison .. perhaps a few more if i can think of more but not too mayn to not clutter it again)
enigma stones function
i wanted to change how enigma stones function somewhat, they dont "enhance" the ability of the champion/sage (i still wanna call them chmapions bc thats what they areeeee) it allows them to link an ability of theirs to link without the orginal champion having to be present or dead, the stones come in set of two each and function somewhat like a magic communication between the player and the champion, once you obtain the second piece its embedded into links shiekah arm prosthetic (also something of my rewrite) and allow him to call upon their ability at will through a second selection wheel
ranch ruins
the ranch ruins i wanted to be rebuild (bc thats cool and i thought restoration was a theme? lol) and maybe you help rebuild it proper and as thanks you can put your horses there to roam around all at once when not taken out to ride, not a big gameplay thing but a neat quest with a rebuilding thing of a building we havent seen in its prime and a neat addition of letting you see all your horsies at once :)

hibking so much about them while i memorize the lyrics to northern downpour <33 do you have any funpoison thoughts for me i love to Think
*glances at my laptop where the current draft of ttid 31 sits open* hm yeahhhh i could maybe probably think of some funpoison thoughts I GUESS its not like ive been. thinking abt Only Them all day or anything.. yeah...
anyways! northern downpour as a funpoison song is fucking CRAZY dude bc like. that song more than anything just sounds like longing to me like its also hellooo tripping eyes and flooded lungs MORE FUEL FOR MY DROWNING FUN GHOUL FIRE!!! but its like. they just feel like the type of couple who no matter how much they actually love each other, always kind of exist in this perpetual state of broken up because there's these certain barriers theyve both put up that they REFUSE to let the other get past. and i think part of that comes from the fact that they each hold the other up on such a high pedestal. like in ttid i think i make it really clear from ghouls pov especially- he hates party because he thinks theyre perfect. they get everything they want, can do anything they want, they live and fight and breathe in a way thats impossible to ignore and the universe always seems to reward them just for existing and what pisses ghoul off the most if that he cant even say they dont deserve it. because he knows they help people. he knows theyre one of the biggest threats against bli. he knows theyre fucking dangerous and so even when hes looking at them like theyre every star in the sky, theyre gonna feel just as out of reach just as unattainable.
and of course it doesnt help that party looks at ghoul the same way. because its fun ghoul, how could they not look at someone so smart and desert wild and fearless without feeling like they pale in comparison with what little they have to offer. partys whole thing is that they protect the ones they love, but what is there to protect ghoul from that he has t already started down and spit in the face of? what is there to keep ghoul safe from other than themself? they wanna be with ghoul so fucking bad it makes them sick to think about. but hes already been so hurt by everyone and everything else in this goddamn desert, he doesnt deserve to be hurt by them too.
and so even when theyre with each other theres this disconnect because neither one can bring themself to give everything they want (everything they are) to the other, which in turn makes them feel like other other is even further away making them wanna put up more walls and more distance and they hide behind flirty banter and late nights playing games of chicken- will they wont they will they- until they fall asleep holding each other yet always seem to somehow wake up alone. my one and lonely

Is Hardenshipping canonn?
Honestly wanna say no bc. Like. Obviously it's never been explicitly stated. So. No.
HOWEVER it is very fun and personally rewarding to speculate so. Thats under cut
Hehevwgeh they do have a lot of overlapping themes in their characters that i really love pointing out so whhhgh i'll just list them because surprise surprise (not a surprise this happens every single time) once i talk about something i like my brain turns to mulch and i can't essay like i usually do.
So, interesting things (minus images for most bc i dont feel like finding them)
-there's a mention of how they apparently used to be on the same team at some point in the past (i have a funny hc/au for what this "same team" is but i've yet to even mention or draw for it oops)
-the end of the main story where they reconcile. Just that entire scene (i've only really seen the alpha sapphire ver. Of this scene but whatever. Have seen the omega ruby one but i forgor what they say help)
-not really a. Like hardenshipping thing but OUGHGJJ MY GOOODDDD.... the very prevalent parallels between them and their respective legendaries. The constant feud and anger that kyogre and groudon hold for each other- the only break from their fights being brought on by rayquaza FORCING them to stop (the player being the rayquaza in this situation, hint hint). Rayquaza coming down from the sky to keep two idiots from killing everybody. Small child blasting through an entire evil corporation to keep two idiots from killing everybody. Literally the same.
Theres no way this could be just subtext, i feel like they kind of intended for people to make this connection its just one of those things thats SO obvious but still so fun to point out. I love symbolism and subtext and reading between the lines and *explodes*
-Another thing i find interesting is their outer shell compared to their actual personalities and ideals.
Archie seems very friendly and lighthearted (at least compared to maxie being an uppity dick). He uses more kind language when referring to the player- kind being less professional and less detached. He comes off as much more relaxed, but he holds a concerning amount of apathy towards humankind. Team aqua's goal was to drown everyone, thinking that if they did then the world would be perfect for pokemon to thrive in. Archie wanted to flood the world with the wellbeing of pokemon in mind. (Which. How the fuck does that even work) (also opens up the speculation of what could've possibly made him care so little for people's wellbeing, and what made him care for the lives of pokemon so much more)
Maxie comes off very cold. He tries to be professional. While archie saying scamp comes off as playful, maxie calling you "child" just instantly hits as condescending. (Can you tell i love-hate this fucking toxic slutch monster) (another btw, in his defeat animation he loses his cool for a sec and freaks out before composing himself, when you'd expect something like this from archie. Archie's lose animation is leagues calmer. Although this is a really small detail i feel like it gives great insight into their actual personalities. I love small details hoohoo) and even though he acts like this, he cares a lot for other people and made his team's goal to dry up all the water so humans had more land and could advance quicker. maxie wanted to dry everything up with the wellbeing of people in mind.
(Which, again, HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT WORK????? PEOPLE NEED DRINKING WATER???? HELLO???????????????)
-as per previous points, they are both very, very dumb.
-and oh yeah. The model boats. Oh my god. I lose my MIND over this little thing they share in particular because uuoiuuhsaaaaaaaagh. AAAAAGHHH.
Archie having a model ship makes sense, you know? He loves the sea- wants to drown everybody- yeah. It makes sense that he has a model ship.
But maxie. Woagh. Woauagh. Bro. What if we had matching model ships. And we were both boys (i say matching bc the 3ds overworld isn't very detailed so they look the same. Could be different for all we know.)
Why would maxie have a ship? He wants to dry up the sea. It's pretty safe to say he's either indifferent to sea-based travel, or he hates it. Boats, ferrys, ships, those wont be needed in the world he wants to create. But he has a model ship in his bedroom. A model ship that is absolutely spotless, not a single mote of dust.
Why does he take such good care of something that- according to the rest of his character and motivations- he shouldn't care about?
(Could those matching model ships that they have be something significant from their past when they were on good terms? Maybe something to do with that same team they were on?)
-also there's this which is worth mentioning i think because damn.
Tumblr media
Theres more stuff that i could mention but paraphrasing is exhausting and my brain has shriveled up.

Hi! This is kinda weird, ig, to me at least, I've never done something like this before, but uh, do you have any tips for denial? For another subby person with a faucet pussy?? I don't have very good self control, I always go over the edge, and I try to ruin my orgasms, but I'm not good at it? (really cute fact about me I think, when I do manage to ruin, I can't orgasm again for like, at least a couple days, it like turns my clit off). I really like the idea of being in long term denial, but the longest I've managed is like, maybe a week tops (not even that, if I'm being honest, maybe about 5 days, oof). But the idea of being in denial for like a month or two sounds so nice, so yes. Any tips? Start small?? Should I just say I'm not even allowed to touch myself and not edge, since I can't even do that right?
(Btw, I just found your blog in July-ish, and it's my favorite one I've found <3<3<3 go to blog for horny content <3<3<3).
first of all its not weird at all!!! theres a Lot out there on denial (and a lot of kink in general) sometimes its hard to know where to start. and i think with denial thats especially hard, bc its difficult to go 0 to 100, it takes building a lot of self discipline and control
i also dont have very good self control even tho ive been into denial since 2017, i dont have good self control in general lol if there isnt an external pressure keeping me accountable. the only way i managed to do a year in denial is that most of it was on no touch; i’d work myself up watching/writing porn but not touch, i duct taped my pussy a lot when i’d get desperate (its hot and effective lol) numbing cream orajel also works too, like, do a while where u only edge with it on ur fingers so u only feel anything til it kicks in, and when i did touch i didnt often let myself get fully to the edge, i’d set timers so i’d have to stop touching myself when they went off. u can also not let urself touch by banning urself from toys if u go over / break whatever goal u set for urself, or can only get stimulation by humping. and if i did go over…
the other aspect is some negative enforcement! punishment! if u wanna do denial a good immediate thing is, yeah, if u go over on accident, ruin the orgasm. (especially since u have a cute lil response of not feeling anything after… even better!!) tbh it helps whenever i get tempted to keep touching and go over edge… i remind myself that its gonna be worse. u can also implement lil punishments like having to spank yourself or use rubber bands etc if u go over. u can also do the opposite with rewards! that when u break ur new record u get a treat of some kind! the orgasm obviously, but also maybe buy urself s/t nice. so its like setting a new goal with rewards as ur endurance builds up and u go longer :)
it gets easier when u practice and dont cheat, i also find a lot of hypnosis + captions to be rly hot and helpful, i also have a fun headspace of not “deserving” to cum and being kept below it so idk being denied is very hot to me. ur also right about starting small, dont immediately think u can jump in to a long term goal, set little ones. stop before ur at the edge and get closer every time til u learn where ur edge is, start with a week and work up from there etc!
and also always make sure ur enjoying it. denial can mess with emotions and head sometimes, so keep watch on urself, stop it if it stops being fun. u should have fun!! and good luck 💘

K so im seeing the latest "discourse" and my noisy ass just has to butt in, so as a regular medic player i'll give my two cents. I do not normally touch support classes but since medic is my fave i ve forced myself to get good at him and i have decent skill and hours on him but goddamn do i NOT enjoy playing him like more than 50% of the time💀 as u said ze healing def ISNT as rewarding as ze hurting so i kill as much as i can whenever i play him to give me just a bit of dopamine
i started out w the crossbow but bc u def DO need aim and projectile prediction i stopped using it altogether since medic is like multitasking 958474 things every second so if im already stressed theres no guarantee i wont miss my shots. instead i heroically take the -2 hp regen penalty and main the blutsauger cuz its saved my ass way more times than the crossbow. like from my experience in medium range i would die quicker if i missed my crossbow shot and waited for it to reload as opposed to raining down syringes on my pursuer who will idiotically chase me down until he eventually dies. while you def do need aim for the syringe guns too i'd say its so much easier to lead your targets around due to the projectile delay rather than trying to desperately hit a crossbow shot on a scout thats doing circles around and above u💀
Dont get me wrong this isnt me shitting on the crossbow it can work AMAZINGLY with a coordinated team who communicates w eachother but since in casual this is arguably a miracle, i ve learned the hard way that i cannot rely on my teammates for long enough and you should def NOT JUST RELY on ur heavies and soldiers to protect ur ass at all times. imo if u as a medic arent able to hold ur few as best as u can given the situation sounds like a skill issue as in. i absolutely hate the "soft uwu WAHHH MY HEAVY LEFT ME FOR 0.0001263 SECONDS TO GO TO SPAWN FOR AMMO💔" stereotype of medic mains i truly do. relying on and pocketing a heavy doesnt always work out from my experience anyway but thats a whole other can of worms💀
This is soooo real Medic kinda sucks to play if you're into killing people yourself and not just helping other people kill. I actually like the Crusader's Crossbow for assault because I'm a freak I have decent projectile prediction AND it doesn't have as much of a fucking ARC which the Blutsauger has and which I hate. The Blutsauger ONLY works in mid-to-close range and I like hitting things from far away so it's out. As I write this I realize that what I want, a primary single-shot weapon for long range and a secondary rapidly firing weapon with a larger clip for mid to close range is literally just Sniper. I don't like playing Medic because I cannot efficiently turn him into Sniper

You and your detective f/o as partners.
can be read as platonic and/or romantic.
[not a necessarily realistic portrayal, moreso based on popular media tropes i find suitable]
You and your partner share a taxi to work every morning. You get to watch them nod off for an entire 5 minutes while leaning their head onto the car window. Bumps in the road eventually make them wake up and you turn away quickly to look out of your own window.
You know eachothers early morning coffee preferences by heart, even if the other doesnt drink coffee to begin with.
Your coats match - your co-workers think its the most hilarious thing ever, but it "wasnt even intentional".
The paperwork your boss slams down onto your desk is daunting, but its much more bearable to work on it when you get to listen to your partner complain about their last case next to you. They rarely get so heated, but you understand their frustration.
When introducing yourselves to suspects or witnesses, the way you pull out your licenses is almost perfectly synchronized. Your f/o snorts the first time they take notice of it.
The crime scene in front of you two seems familiar. Looking over to your partner, you can see their eyes moving rapidly, trying their best to take in as much information as they possibly can without much background knowledge. You leave them on their own for a while to talk to the forensic experts still left at the scene.
Driving one of the suspects to the station, you immediately make eye contact with your partner in the rearview mirror when a new piece of evidence is revealed to you thanks to a particularily chatty suspect.
Theres nothing more rewarding to your f/o than seeing the all too familiar glint appear in your eye after a long period of silence. The way your eyes widen and your hand instinctively reaches for your phone when the last puzzle pieces finally falls into place. They are so lucky to have you working alongside them.
As it turns out, running after a criminal during heavy rain is more exhausting than you remember. Your hands have gotten slippery, which makes putting on handcuffs harder in comparison to the training program you attended years ago. You notice your partner shivering next to you; their clothes are completely soaked as well, but they cant help but smile at you while they help you hold the culprit down.
Late at night you meet up again to sort through old files and documents. Theres a single moth flying around the small table light the both of you share, but youre too tired to scare it away. While youre signing some papers, your f/o can be heard typing away on their laptop, finishing their report for the just recently finished case.
Getting them assigned to you as your partner feels like faith. In fact, the both of you work so well together that your boss has started to regularily assign you two to the same cases.
