a/n: hi 😘 currently i'm still figuring out my next long fics and stuff so here's some drabbles that i fortunately squeeze out of my brain. i realised i don't have many jake fics despite him being bias 😭 i'm sorry for that </3 so here's one greatly inspired by hey violet's guys my age 💓 + my current fav jake pics. hope you enjoy this one! please leave a feedback and reblogs are appreciated!

Going out to a party shouldn’t be a bad idea, right?

Maybe the first mistake was agreeing to an invite from your friends to a random party in the club, believing their claims that you should put yourself out there more after your break up. As much as you hate to admit it, they weren’t exactly wrong, especially when you stay cooped up in your room all day.

It has been months since the break up and you haven’t seen him since then. All because he was immature and didn’t want to grow up, which prompted the imminent break up. Well, there you were now, by your friends in a club you were unfamiliar with, dressed in something low-cut that they had picked out, and it surely worked out as you were gaining attention from people around.

A few drinks in later, you were starting to loosen up, feeling the need to dance and fuck around more. So, that was exactly what you did.

Stumbling through the crowd and getting on the dancefloor was already tiring, but somehow that wasn’t stopping you from anything. The dim lights and loud music completely made you unaware that someone was approaching from behind, until you felt a presence close to your back and you spun around.

Wow.

Despite the fact that it was hard to make out his face entirely, something about him and his aura screamed hotness. You could still tell how he looked vaguely. Prominent cheekbones, hair styled up, alluring eyes and the key point of it all, his lips.

From the looks of it, he doesn't seem to be your age either. He was most definitely older. Adding to the spice of it all, he seemed expensive. Hell, the cologne he wore alone smelled like something out of your budget.

Dressed in a simple button up, the chains and rings decked out on him simply added to his attractiveness. Gosh, he was the opposite of your ex. Now that you know, guys your age only disappoint you, so what's stopping you from having fun this one time?

Okay, so you weren’t about to get yourself a restraining order either. He was just too irresistible. Although you were screaming at yourself internally, you held yourself back, instead, you let him come to you. And boy, he definitely did.

Almost too naturally and smoothly, he moved closer to you, snaking an arm around your waist while you threw your arms around his neck. You didn’t say anything and he only took it as a sign to continue.

“Hey,” he said by your ear, miraculously loud enough for you to hear. “I’m Jake,”

Usually, you might've thought it was lame, but maybe it was your semi-drunken state or simply his pretty face that gave you a green pass.

"Hi," you answered back rather meekly. "I'm Y/N,"

"Y/N," he echoed, eyes glinting in the dark. "Want to get out of here?"

Crazily and insanely you were for following him to his car, letting him drive you to an abandoned spot and sneak to the backseat. It was probably the Aussie accent and blond hair that got you.

It didn't take long before you let him kiss you, feeling the flames bursting in your abdomen. The way he kissed was deep and feverish; dirty but gentle enough. Slowly, you felt his hand trace up your thighs and it made the hairs on your skin stand.

You had to admit, you've never felt this way with your ex before. From the kiss to the touches, it was different.

Guys your age don't know how to touch you.

The night eventually ended late but still, he went out of his way to drop you home, watching you get in safely before driving off. In a daze, you thought that was it, your potential lover was gone, but then you felt an uncomfortable prickly feeling in your chest area.

Reaching into your bra, you pulled out a piece of paper. One that had been slipped in discreetly moments ago when you were completely unaware.

That was exactly what you did the next day. Even if it took you half a day and lots of pacing across your room, you managed to work up the guts to text him. Biting your nails in anxiety until his reply appeared.

Luckily, he was a nice guy who was equally humourous over text.

It wasn't long before you started calling each other. From one phone call turned into frequent calls that eventually included facetimes.

Soon, this thing going on between you two progressed rather quickly but steadily. Him asking you out on a date was inevitable and you gladly let him take you out on one.

It might've been a simple dinner that allowed you and him to get to know one another more, but throughout the whole night, he was nothing but a gentleman. First, it was him opening the car door for you that shocked you. No one has done this for you, your ex doesn't even have his own car to begin with. Then, it was him letting you hold his arm when going up staircases since you were in heels. Lastly, he even paid for dinner when you were against it, yet he didn't want to listen to your arguments.

This treatment was a little foreign to you, because simply, guys your age don't know how to treat you.

Days turned into months and you two naturally got closer, too close. Jake eventually asked you to be his girlfriend, to which you accepted and he even brought you out to celebrate, making sure to attack you with kisses while he was at it.

Despite being busy with work, he always made time for you. Tight schedules? He'd loosen some time up in between for you. Overtime in the office and not getting dinner together? He'd call you just to eat together over the screen. If there was one thing about Jake, it would be him getting clingy and missing you loads.

Him always going out of his way for you made you surprised even though you had been together for almost a year. It was his consideration and effort that got you soft for him.

He wasn't like your ex. Not at all. He was completely unlike the people from your past. In a good way of course.

It was a shame. Guys your age don't know how to keep you or love you good.

The time has come where you wanted Jake to meet your parents, especially since you've already met his.

It was unfortunate that his schedule kept clashing and your mother has been on your wits end trying to get a glimpse of the guy you've been telling her about. But it was what it was and you could only tell her to be patient.

You were at home that day instead of staying over at his place, however, you were still texting Jake as per usual.

jakey: i'm omw to meet up w a business partner! i'm not sure when i'll be a back but don't stay up too late waiting, okay?

you: alrightt :( i'm over at my parents now. remember to eat and don't skip meals!!!!

jakey: yes yes ma'am. i'll let you know once the meeting is over, kay?

you: sure, drive safe!

You couldn't help but miss him at times, allowing him to fill your thoughts as you helped your mother set the table, not noticing an extra set of utensils placed.

The usual business around the house around dinner hasn't changed over time. Even when the doorbell had rang, you didn't notice it at first, until it came the second, catching you off guard. You placed down the things in your hands, shuffling awkwardly to the door after calling out for your parents before opening it.

"Jake?"

"Baby?"

What was Jake doing at the doorstep of your home? You promised to bring him over but wasn't he … busy?

"What do you mean 'baby'?" There came your father's voice, confusion laced in his tone.

"Mr L/N," Jake greeted stiffly, then the realisation dawned in his eyes. The last names, the similar features. Oh God.

"What are you doing here?" You ignored your surroundings, hissing in panic to Jake.

"F–for my business meeting,"

"Is he the guy you're dating?" Your father seemed to have also pieced it together, shock and bewilderment on his face as your mother joined his side.

"You're dating an older guy?"

There's going to be a whole explanation needed over dinner before any business is discussed.

Maybe Jake might've been an older guy but he was way more than that. He knew how to treat you, touch you, love you. Unlike guys your age.

Now you know, you're never going back.

i mEANNNNNNN like fr you guys polaroid love heeseung on concerts isn’t enough for you to already know what type of guy he isss?

as soon as he sees you in the crowd he winks at you and just waits for the great opportunity to come close to you

literally dedicating you one of their songs and is just glued to you through the whole song.

when you take out your phone to take a video of your cute boyfriend, he puts your phone down and winks again, later on he whispers that you have him as much as you want so videos are clearly needless.

he would then tell his members that you’re there and they all would look towards you and smile widely when they see you cheering for them.

he wouldn’t even try to hide the fact that he’s biased and whenever they go off stage he’s just casually walking to you and singing to you.

제이 ✶ (jay)

it was obviously a surprise for him since he was so sure that you’re at home sipping your coffee in bed. he was the happiest person on earth when he saw you.

if he was drained and tired before, you brought up his energy and strength to keep on going.

he would probably look at your direction nonstop and would pout whenever he sees your phone instead your face.

what can you do though? your boyfriend’s so fine and you just want to take pics to keep them to yourself🤷🏻‍♀️

he’d go off stage and run to you just to give you a water bottle because he’s THAT worried about you. he also wouldn’t be able to hold himself so he hugs you tightly on the way.

no bc i think he’d also just sit in front of you and sing to you so lovely with such a cute smile on his face.

would also for sure pose for your camera when he notices you’re filming him.

as tiring as the choreography gets, he’d just look at you and automatically get all the energy he needed back. he’s so happy to see you there and wants to show you his best.

he KNOWS where you’re sitting. he literally gave you the ticket and did a deep research on where to find that seat.

yk that one pass the mic choreography when he had a mission to touch the floor? so imagine him doing that but instead of touching the floor he’s literally waving and winking while looking at you.

when it’s time to go off stage he walks slowly and interacts with his fans and when he gets to you he just simply gives you a high-five with a wide smile. (just like he did with his parents😭✋🏻)

will def talk about it in one of their breaks like “i saw y/n today and i’m so happy that she’s here but all i did was just give her a high-five”

feels bad about the high five so he walks up to you again (when he WASNT supposed to do that) and sends you a flying kiss.

he was so sad at first before the concert started. he really wanted you to show up but you told him your parents are coming to town and you have to welcome them.

of course that was a lie and you even brought your parents to their concert xoxo.

at first, he didn’t even notice you and just skipped over you, since he was too busy looking around and dancing.

when niki pointed at you and told him you’re here, he got on his knees and started shedding a few tears.

walks up to you again and hugs you tightly, while the staff members are freaking out. he’d also greet your parents and will send them a big big heart.

would probably sing and will replace his part in the middle with something like “y/n’s finally here in the crowd!!” instead of actually singing his lyrics-

정원 ✶ (jungwon)

the cutest baby ever as he notices you in the crowd. starts running around the stage like that naruto run with a wide smile on his face just because he’s so happy to see you.

the members challenged him to do a cartwheel and before he does he goes like “y/n this is for you” and the whole crowd goes craaaaazy—but he failed.

laughs it off and looks at you to see any bad reaction but smiles when he sees you laughing.

wants to go off stage again to get closer to you and looks around for any staff members that could stop him—when he doesn’t see any he just runs to you while laughing mischievously.

goes in front of you on stage and asks you questions such as “did you eat?” and much more.

he’d look at you on his parts to see your reactions which honestly boosts up his confidence because you’d always look at him and tell him he’s doing a good job.

니키 ✶ (ni-ki)

he really wanted one of his favorite persons to show up, his family couldn’t attend so he was hoping you’d be there for him.

you wanted to surprise him but he’s too smart for that, he figured you’d come to the concert.

maybe that’s mainly why he’s been smiling and telling everyone you’re in the crowd before even making eye contact with you.

goes off stage and sends you tons of kisses and hearts.

you already know how mischievous he gets, when his part comes up he’s holding the mic out for you to sing, and embarrasses you in front of everyone (both of you laughed your asses off right after the concert because of that)

talks about you in one of their breaks and wouldn’t stop thanking you for showing up, “y/n came today and i couldn’t be more thankful, i gained a lot of strength because of her”

when it comes to him, he’s so gentle with kids :( he was playing with a little boy while you were standing off the camera and you swore your heart just exploded. his beautiful bambi eyes sparkling with joy as the little kid giggled at his (successful) attempts to make him laugh. hee patted the boy’s head and then suddenly looked up and sent you a wink as you try to hide, almost tripping on the cables and falling onto the staff.

but you, on the other hand. god, you’ll be the death of his. it happened on the same day, once the recording was over. and while he was having a little chit chat with others, he spotted you having the little kid from before in your arms – swaying him gently as you talked to his mom. jay had to shake heeseung’s arm to bring back his attention but that didn’t help much because all of his thoughts flew through the window. he’s a blushing mess, trying to get himself together. and he thinks you didn’t notice? maybe you didn’t see it with your own eyes but the boy’s mom asking if he’s your boyfriend made you connect the dots ;)

he knows what he’s doing… little sly fox >:( playing with his cousin and sending you wide grins… he can see the way you’re looking at them both, cheeks flushed. he pointed at you, sitting across the room. “i’m gonna marry her one day, you know?” jake hummed to his cousin and she giggled. you didn’t hear what he was saying but even if you wanted to understand, you probably couldn’t due to how you couldn’t think straight because of the view of him…

and he tasted his own medicine when his cousin approached you. you looked at him instantly but jake pretended not to pay attention. but he folded in half as soon as his cousin was sat calmly on your lap, you were doing her hair gently and layla approached you, laying next to the kid that started patting her gently. his mind was racing so fast, with the images of mini you in his arms. or mini him running around? he didn’t even feel when someone accidentally stepped on his foot. he’s whipped. even more than you.

you thought that jay didn't see your reaction. you saw the episode of willben show that your lovely boyfriend didn’t care to inform you about. when you saw jay holding ben so gently, with much care you had to stop the vid and yell into the pillow. what you didn’t realise if how jay saw it all due to his early comeback from work. you reassumed the vid, pressing your hands to your hot cheeks so they cool down a bit. even if it worked, jay saw what he wanted to see. and you were left with racing heart and the video of jay being a perfect husband material.

jay took you to a cafe on a date one day. and while he excused himself to go to the bathroom, he certainly didn’t expect to come back and see you talking to a small girl. jay was standing there, frozen and speechless due to how kind your smile was; how sweetly you were talking to the girl. suddenly you locked eyes with him and nodded, saying “yes, he’s my boyfriend. but i’m sure he won’t mind taking a picture with you”. no, he didn’t. but he couldn’t stop staring at you, instead of the camera, with a love struck expression.

jungwon truly looks like a cat. especially when he’s taken by surprise. eyes widening, lips parting slightly. he looks at you with help written all over his face when a small boy grabs his free hand. “hello there…?” jungwon asks softly and the boy looks at him, even more scared than him. jungwon realises the boy must have mistaken him for someone else. as he kneels and sends the kid the warmest smile you’ve ever seen, your heart melts on the spot. “let’s look for your parents, okay?” wonie asks and looks at you… but he notices the way you’re not focused at all. he just smiles and tugs your hand and signalises you to help. you do, obviously but your cheeks are flushed as you look at the small boy holding jungwon’s bigger hand.

as he recalled the last event with helping the little boy find his parents, he couldn’t really understand your reaction and what caused you to become a blushing blushing mess. but when then he saw you in a park, where you supposed to meet for a date, playing with a little girl and running after her with a laugh… he understood. his heart felt like it was about to explode, stomach swirling with butterflies. why did you look so cute? and… who even is that? when you suddenly picked up to girl, tickling her cheek and walking up to a woman sitting on a bench he realised it’s your friend. she pointed at him and you turned around to see stunned jungwon. meanwhile his mind was occupied with thoughts about how your possible kid might look like…

most of the stuff he does is on purpose. to tease you. but when you two had to look after his mom’s friend’s kid, he didn’t even see an opportunity how to tease you. in fact, he was kind of nervous. the two little kids were running around like crazy, it was hard to look after two of them at the same time. to when he started playing with the boy, making car engine noises he realised how silent you became. he met your eyes and smirked upon seeing your red cheeks and stare glued to him. you shook your head, looking at the girl that was saying something to you. but you still didn’t seem to focus due to how cute riki looked with the boy. he was so innocent, so pure… and it was truly heartwarming to see him act so gently towards the kid.

after a long time he managed to get the boy to sleep. he rushed to you to brag about it but he was left frozen once his eyes stumbled upon you, fast asleep on the couch, with the girl hugging you and asleep too. the cartoon you put in the back to lull her to sleep seemed to work on you two. after taking tons of pictures he’ll never show you, riki shook his head aggressively hoping the smile will come off his face (because he couldn’t control it…?) and the swirl of butterflies in his stomach will go away.

the world stopped for a moment. you went ice skating with hoon, something you always do once the season starts. and you don’t really know how this happened but once second he was holding your hand and the other he was teaching a small girl how to skate, holding her hands and skating backwards. his smile; god his smile… it was so wide, so pure. and you have to stop in your tracks to admire this absolutely heartwarming view.

hoon never really thought about this. he knew that he wanted to spend his future with you but other than that, nothing specific. but when one day you barged into their dorm with a little boy on your hands, saying that you have to watch over him for a while and you thought it will be a great idea… well, his brain shut down and he didn’t hear what you just said. one would say there was not a single thought behind his eyes as he watched you play with the kid but in reality his mind was racing like crazy – bunch of what ifs bubbling in his mind…

this little sly fox. he’s good with kids, duh; kids love him. and he know what effect he has on you (with whatever he does, though). so when once he’s playing with his two little cousins and pretends to be a guest at their tea party and lets them pamper him and put the plastic crowns on him and paint his nails… you can’t help but hide your face so he won’t see the red forming on your cheeks. he doesn’t have to, he knows. and when you overhear them taking, you melt completely ( “who’s the prettiest in the whole world, uncle sunoo?” “you two. and my beautiful girlfriend too” “she’s really pretty…” “yeah, she is” “do you love her?” “very very much! now can i have some tea?” )

then it’s your turn. sunoo sends you a cocky grin once you sit down next to him but it turns into a gentle smile once his cousins’ little hands are on you, putting crown on you and giving you the small teddy. and when one of them sits on your lap and clings onto you like a koala, the other one kicks him under the table because “it’s too rude to stare”. sunoo apologises with pink-dusted cheeks and pounding heart.

Today was Minji's last day in Korea. Jake begged you to go to the airport with them but you really had a lot of work to get done, so you said goodbye to her in your apartment and sent her off with Jake.

On the way to the airport they didn't talk too much but they did have one last conversation before she went into the gate.

"Thank you for everything Jake," Minji started. "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable the other day."

Jake sighed. "Minji.. you're a good friend and I don't want this to ruin our whole group. But please, don't think we can ever be anything more than friends.. we dated for a year in high school and that was that. I love Y/N, a lot."

Minji nodded. "Yeah yeah, it was wrong of me to try and win you back.. I understand that now. Cynthia yelled at me a lot yesterday."

Jake let out a hearty laugh. "Yeah, she's had Y/N's back this whole time.. thanks for being so understanding Minji. Again you're a good friend of mine; let's keep it that way."

"Agreed. You're proposing this December in Australia right?"

"Actually... I'm proposing next week."

Minji's eyes widened with excitement. "What, no way! What happened, why the sudden change?!"

Jake rubbed the back of his neck feeling embarrassed. "I.. haven't been the best to her recently.. actually the night you were at your grandma's.. she wanted us to take a break."

Minji gasped. "Jake.. I'm so sorry."

He shook his head. "It's okay. We talked it through, I begged her not to do this, and she agreed. So I've just been, I don't know, scared? That night really shocked me so much.. I don't think I can wait till December. I'm moving all the plans around to next week."

"Jake that'a awesome! You got the hotel and flight tickets and all?"

"Yeah yeah, everything was booked yesterday."

Just then the last announcement for Minji's flight was made. She gave one last goodbye to Jake and headed to the gate as he made his way back to his car.

Jake had never felt so guilty like he did the past two days. It was eating him up; the fact that he gave another woman more attention than he gave you; the woman that you were uncomfortable with him being around. Every time he thought about it he winced and thanked God that you didn't leave him.

You had forgiven him; Jake loved you and you never once doubted that. But he didn't care– he'd make it up to you in the best way possible.

After leaving the airport he went to the ENHYPEN dorm to tell the news about him moving up his proposal plans and assigning them their roles. He then went to the company to talk to them about his decision. They already knew you Jake was proposing in December and were fine with it, but now Jake had to tell them the slight change in plans so they could have the statement ready by next week.

Once all of that was taken care of Jake headed back to the apartment and started cleaning. It wasn't messy; how could it be? You were so good at taking care of the house, taking care of him, taking care of your relationship when he'd mess it up..

Jake sighed as he walked into the empty house. You were just at work, he knew it of course. But he couldn't imagine how distraught he'd be if every single day he came home to an empty house, knowing you would never return.

Jake started by cleaning up the guest room and guest bathroom Minji had used; putting new sheets, changing the trash, wiping down the furniture. He then went on to clean the rest of the bathrooms in the house, then tidying up the kitchen and master bedroom. Once those were taken care of he took a 10 minute break to order food, and continued on cleaning the dining room and living room.

You were exhausted, having a hard day at work yourself. You trudged up to the front door and fumbled with your keys before the door swung open revealing a very happy yet tired Jake.

"Hi baby, you're home!" he exclaimed.

You giggled and pecked his lips as you walked into the house. "Hi my love, how was your day today?" As soon as you walked further into the house you immediately realized it was sparkling; everything was sparkling. You turned to Jake in shock who was standing there expectantly. "Jake.. did you clean the house while I was gone?"

He eagerly nodded. "Did I do a good job? Actually you can't judge just from seeing this.. I cleaned the guest bedroom, our room, the bathrooms and kitchen too!"

Your eyes were still widened in shock and you slowly wrapped your arms around Jake's neck. "Baby, I appreciate it but why'd you do all of that? I would've come home and done it anyways."

He wrapped his arms around you. "It's not fair that you have to do all of it," Jake pouted. "I live here too, this is my house too. I should take on some of the household responsibilities."

"You do honey! You have your own chores and I have mine."

Jake shook his head. "I just take the trash out and pay the bills once a month Y/N. You clean and cook almost everyday.. I come home every single day and appreciate it but I don't think I say it enough so I'm sorry. I genuinely appreciate everything you do, and after doing what you do for a day, I'm fucking exhausted."

You laughed as you pulled him into a hug. "Aww, thank you Jake. Really, I appreciate this a lot."

"Of course baby.. by the way, is it too late for you to put in some vacation days for next week?"

You raised an eyebrow at him. "What are you plotting now Sim Jaeyun?"

"Nah nah nothing.. I was thinking you and I could spend a couple days in the Maldives?"

"Maldives!? Jake, are you serious!?" you squealed.

Jake smiled, relieved you were this happy. The Maldives was a dream destination for you; you had always talked about going there so why not get proposed to there?

"It's a day long flight," Jake explained. "We need two days for the flights, we'll spend 4 days there. What do you think?"

You squealed again and tightly hugged Jake, jumping into his arms. "Thank you thank you thank you!! You're the best boyfriend ever. When do we leave?"

"Friday."

You were so excited for the trip that Friday felt like it was in forever, but finally you were in the Maldives. The first night you guys slept almost immediately after getting there because you were so drained but the next day you guys were up bright and early, enjoying all that the Maldives have to offer.

Today was the last full day in the Maldives, and the two of you were enjoying some down time in your private hotel room pool. Jake glanced to check on you and saw you at the edge of the pool, furrowing your eyebrows while staring at your phone. He swam up to you and grabbed his beverage. "What's wrong baby?"

"My parents," you responded. "They're not responding! I know I have good service so I don't know why they're not answering."

Despite you not looking at Jake, he still looked away from you. He couldn't lie to you, and he knew that if he mad eye contact with you, he'd spoil everything about the proposal. "M-maybe they're just busy."

You shook your head as you tried dialing them again. "No.. it's like just past evening in my country right now, they're definitely home."

Jake knew he had to distract you before you somehow caught on. He just had to hide all of this from you for another couple hours; as tonight was the proposal.

From the minute he woke up this morning he felt like throwing up. Every single second he felt like regurgitating. You wouldn't say no right? Nah nah, you love him.. right?!

"Baby," he called out as he grabbed your phone gently from you. "It's okay, we'll check on your parents later. Maybe they tuned in early? Our parents aren't getting any younger you know."

You hummed. "Yeah yeah you're right... I'll call them first thing tomorrow morning."

Oh you definitely will.

Jake pulled you back into the middle of the pool and you guys spent more time in the pool until you felt your skin pruning. After you had come out of the shower you saw a couple of wrapped gifts laying on the bed. You looked to your boyfriend with a confused look and he just returned a smug smile.

"Open them," Jake commanded. "It's for our date tonight."

You headed to the bed and one by one opened the boxes. The first one had a beautiful pair of pencil heels covered in golden and silver sparkles. Next was a black leather handbag and the one after it had a diamond crystal heart necklace. The last box you opened had your jaw drop slack open. The dress in the box perfectly matched the shoes; it was pretty short in the front but the tulle in the back went all the way down to the floor and without wearing it, you could tell it would snatch your waist in such an alluring way. It was off the shoulder with a straight neckline and the short bit of sleeves there were drooped down to your elbows.

You caressed the sequins on the dress before turning to your boyfriend and jumping to hug him, not caring you were in just a robe. "Jake, I'm gonna cry! You're the best and this whole look is amazing! Thank you so so SO much!"

He rubbed your back as he held back a huge grin. "Anything for the love of my life." He kissed your forehead before letting you go. "Get dressed, I'm almost ready. We should head to the restaurant in an hour."

Jake had booked a reservation for the two of you at "The Cloud"; an Italian-Chinese sit down restaurant that had numerous 5-star reviews for not only the food but the fancy and romantic ambiance as well.

You two enjoyed your extremely romantic dinner; the food was tremendously good and you two just couldn't stop laughing and looking at each other with the utmost love you could hold in your eyes.

After the dinner Jake suggested a walk on the beach and you happily agreed, not wanting the night to end. You were walking hand in hand, you barefoot with your shoes in Jake's empty hands.

"Jake," you called out breaking the comforting silence.

"Yeah baby?"

You looked to him and kissed his cheek softly. "Thank you.. for everything. The last 4 days have felt so magical I just.. I can't even describe it. I really appreciate everything you've done for me, everything you've made me feel."

Jake's eyes softened as he looked at you, returning the kiss on the cheek. "Again, anything and everything for you baby. I'm just glad we're finally getting quality time alone."

You hummed. "Minji and you are good right? I didn't intend to break up a friendship."

Jake snapped his head towards you and gave you crazed look. "Baby, what are you talking about? You did nothing wrong! If my friendship with Minji would've ended it would've been because of her trying to break us up. You went through so much the last couple weeks and held everything in.. I'm so proud of you but I can't help but feel guilty because of it."

You took your free hand and caressed Jake's forearm with it. "Stop feeling guilty; you've done more than enough to make it up," you giggled.

Jake hesitated a little before biting his lip. "Well, does that mean you don't want the last surprise?"

You groaned. "Jake there's more? You've already done so much what could possibly–"

"Shh," he brought a finger up to your lip. "Let me do the talking right now." You both stopped walking and Jake let go of your hand. He placed your shoes on the sand and stood in front of you. "You trust me right Y/N?"

You vigorously nodded. "Of course Jake! With my whole life."

He gently kissed your lips before reaching into his pocket for a blue velvet box and got down on one knee making you gasp.

"Jake! I–"

"Baby," he whined. "I said let me do the talking." He waited for your nod to continue and did so with a sigh. "Okay look, truth be told I had a completely different speech prepared for this because.. actually I was planning to propose this December when we planned to go to Australia. I had this whole yacht lunch date planned and then an orchestra band and an after party.. but then the last couple weeks happened. And when you suggested we take a break, I.. I felt like my entire world collapsed."

Jake had tears threatening to fall out of his eyes as he looked up at you with so much love. "You are my entire world.. I couldn't ever imagine a life without you, and I don't think I could wait 3-4 more months to propose. This moment right here, this calm after the storm, it feels right. I want nothing more than to be with you forever. I– I can't promise that I'll always be a good husband even though I know you'll always be a good wife, and I'll apologize for that every single day that I'm alive, but I'm always going to do my very best to keep you happy. Nothing matters to me more than your happiness. Let me be the only man to make you happy forever Y/N. Please.. will you marry me?"

You didn't trust your voice as you could feel the sobs closing up your throat so you nodded, extending your left hand for Jake to slip the ring on; it fit perfectly.

He finally let the tears slip and came up from his position to hug you tight and you let him, wrapping your own arms around his form as you two sobbed. Jake kissed your head repeatedly. "Thank you baby, thank you for making me the happiest I've ever been."

You pulled back a little for the hug and kissed some of his tears away before kissing his plump lips. "I– I love you so much Jake I– thank you for everything."

Jake kissed you once again, murmuring an 'I love you too' as you two finished crying. He grabbed your shoes again and put his hand out to grab your now bejeweled one. "Shall we head back to our room, my fiancee?"

You couldn't help but break out into a smile at the new name. "Of course fiance... God I wish my mom was picking up my calls so I could tell her we're engaged..."

Jake laughed. "Your mom won't be picking up any calls for abouttt.. another 45 minutes," he reported checking his wristwatch.

You cocked your head at him. "Why? Is she not home?"

"She's on a plane.. to Korea.. your whole family is.. for the celebration party of our engagement. My parents are there by now too I think; Heeseung Hyung should've picked them up by now."

Your eyes widened. "What? You flew my parents out?!"

Jake eagerly nodded. "Yup! That's why we're heading back to Korea so early tomorrow morning; we have an engagement party tomorrow night with both of our families and closest friends. I got the guys to decorate it. They'll do fine right?"

You shook your head in disbelief at how this man could continuously sweep you off your feet. "Sim Jaeyun the man you are.. how many more times are you gonna woo me in this lifetime hmm?"

"Oh you have no idea baby."

PART 01 / PART 02

requests open !! read my rules first

normally the familiar noise of niki’s phone vibrating on the table beside his bed would be an annoyance - a reminder that it’s finally time to leave the safety and warmth of his bed and do some work for the day. but today his alarm can’t come soon enough.

jungwon and jay are already in the kitchen making breakfast together when he sits up in his bed. he can hear them bickering amongst themselves as he peels off the covers, quick to wash his face and brush his teeth in the mirror. he spends a few extra seconds checking his appearance in the reflection. it’s something he wouldn’t normally do, but it feels needed.

he pushes his bangs back as he makes his way into the living room. sunghoon is sprawled across the couch as jake sits on the loveseat across from it. he nudges sunghoon’s foot out of the way, sitting down next to him. “morning niki,” jake smiles.

“good morning.”

“when’s your date with y/n?”

“later today,” he replies, pulling his phone out to check the time. “in two hours.”

“today?” sunghoon perks up, shifting to look up at the boy. “you don’t look nervous.”

niki raises an eyebrow. “should i be?”

“no, but,” sunghoon moves to sit up fully on the couch. “you’ve liked him for a while. i figured you would be a little anxious about going on your first date.”

“why don’t you help me then? i still need to decide what to wear and how to do my hair.”

“we’d love to help,” jake smiles. “come on.”

“try this on,” sunghoon says, shoving another shirt at him. niki takes it, disappearing back behind the bathroom door momentarily to put it on.

“where are you guys going anyway?” jake asks from his position on jungwon’s bed.

“he’s taking me to a cafe,” niki replies, exiting the bathroom. he tugs at the shirt’s collar in an attempt to ease his nerves. “a cat cafe.”

“so… casual,” sunghoon notes, continuing to rummage through niki’s closet.

“why not just wear a hoodie and some jeans? it’s what you wear all the time anyway.”

“i like that idea,” niki says, tossing another sweater back at sunghoon. “it’s just a cafe date.”

sunghoon sighs as he relents. “at least accessorize with some jewelry.”

“of course.” niki grabs a hoodie out of the pile before tugging it over his head. jake sits up to brush his bangs aside and help him fix his hair.

“try this on.” sunghoon tilts his chin up to wrap a silver necklace around niki’s neck. it sits just above the neckline of the hoodie. it matches the earrings he has in. “keep the earrings too.”

niki stands up, checking himself in the mirror. he pushes his nerves down before they can overwhelm him too much. his oversized hoodie hangs loosely on his frame. he brushes his bangs back again so the strands sit nicely behind his ears. he looks like he usually does. nothing about him specifically looks like he’s about to go on a date. it’s for the better, he assumes.

“it’s 09:45,” jake’s voice interrupts his internal debate.

“i need to get going,” niki frantically searches for his phone, quickly shoving it into his pocket. “thanks for your help!” he calls as he rushes to grab a random pair of shoes. he ties the laces as fast as possible before running out of the dorm.

the clock hanging on the wall reads 10:00 exactly as niki pulls on the door handle to the cafe. a chorus of small meows and purs welcome him as he glances around in search of you. “niki!” you smile, making your way through the swarm of cats over to him. “hi.”

“hi.” he’s sure his cheeks are burning as you take his hand, leading him over to a table.

“i got you a vanilla latte,” you say, pushing the drink towards him. “i hope that’s okay.”

“it’s perfect.”

one of the cats jumps into your lap, curling into a ball against your thighs. you smile, stroking a hand against her fur. even with his poor knowledge of different cat breeds, niki can recognize it as a calico. her face and body are scattered with orange and black patches. she purs against your jeans, nuzzling closer against you.

niki can’t help the small smile that spreads across his face at the sight. the animal looks so content from her position laying against you. he breaks the brief silence when you look up at him. “the cats look so comfortable around you. do you come here often?”

“i use this place as a way to destress; if that makes sense. i don’t have the time to take care of any pets myself so i hang around here with the cats. the coffee helps too,” you chuckle. “i read somewhere that you have a dog. bisco, right?”

niki smiles a little bigger. you know about his dog. “yeah, bisco.”

“i’ve seen a few pictures. he’s cute.”

“not as cute as you.” the words leave niki’s mouth before he realizes what he just said. he all but retracts back into himself from embarrassment before you laugh.

“thank you.”

the hours slowly blend together as you and niki laugh together. your drink goes cold from how long you spend sitting around the cafe talking until you can’t ignore your hunger any longer and finally decide to get lunch. you leave the cats after a long series of pets and promises to return soon. warmth spreads through niki’s chest as one of the cats leans up to rub her face against his hand as you smile at them.

“ramen?” you ask.

“sure.”

your hands brush against each other as you walk through the seoul streets. it’s the middle of a workday but you still pass by a few stray people along the way. niki hesitantly reaches over before you finally take the initiative to take his hand into yours. you look up at him. “is this okay?”

niki squeezes your hand, intertwining your fingers together. “it’s more than okay.”

he can see you smile behind your mask as you continue guiding him through towards the restaurant. it’s exhilarating - holding your hand, making you laugh, being on a date with you. all of his nerves have faded away by now. only a soft, loving warmth remains. it’s an unfamiliar but welcome feeling that only builds the longer you spend together.

his thoughts are interrupted when he all but knocks into your body - again - when you abruptly stop. “sorry,” he whispers. you simply shake your head with a small smile, tugging him into the restaurant.

you throw your head back as you laugh, bringing a hand up to cover your face. niki can feel his own smile growing as he watches you try to calm yourself down. it’s a beautiful sound - one that he’d like to hear more often. despite having heard it through a phone screen countless times it sounds different when you’re sitting in front of him. smiling because of him.

you fall into a comfortable silence together. for a few moments it feels like the world stops. everything around you disappears, fading away into nothingness. your eyes momentarily flick from staring into niki’s down to his lips. they’re tinted an incredibly slight pink; probably the remains from a lip stain applied for a promotional stage.

“niki,” you whisper. the sun is setting around you, casting a gentle golden glow across him. his cheeks feel warm under your gaze.

“can i kiss you?” his voice is quiet - as if he’s worried that saying the words too loud will make you pull away from him forever. his deep brown eyes stare into your own as he patiently awaits your response.

it feels like hours when you nod. niki slowly leans in a little closer to you. he smiles a little, reaching up to rest a hand on your cheek, stroking his thumb against your soft skin before pulling you into a sweet kiss.

suddenly, nothing else matters. you’re no longer two famous idols who have responsibilities to go back to and fans to potentially disappoint. you let yourself forget about all of the homophobia and backlash and hate in the world. you’re just two boys kissing underneath a sunset.

niki’s face is flushed when you finally pull away. your lips are a little pink, matching niki’s. a slight breeze blows past you, rustling your hair. he raises a hand to fix it with a small smile. “can i call you mine?” you whisper.

despite niki’s still-deepening blush, he nods immediately. your smiles grow as you lean in to press another quick peck against his lips.

it’s nearly dusk by the time niki returns to the dorms. he’s still giddy as he enters, slipping off his shoes and making his way into the living room.

jay is the first to notice him, perking up in his seat. “how was the date?”

“he was gone for a while, it must’ve been good,” jungwon says.

“it was.”

sunghoon raises an eyebrow at him. “that’s all? jake-hyung and i spend all morning helping you get ready and all you tell us is that it was good?”

“come on!” sunoo nudges him as he sits down. “we’re curious.”

niki sighs, looking down at his hands. “he knew my coffee order and asked about bisco. he payed for us to get ramen together and spoiled some new parts of his comeback for me. he’s really sweet. he made me laugh all day and…” his voice drops as he plays with his fingers. “i really like him.”

“aw, you’re blushing!” heeseung teases. he reaches over to pat niki’s knee reassuringly with a smile. “i’m glad you two had a nice time together.”

“did you get a good night kiss?”

the blush on niki’s neck deepens at jake’s question. “i did,” he says, faking confidence as he sits upright. “i kissed him this time.”

“did you make it official?” sunoo asks.

niki can feel his blush deepening, though he doesn’t try to hide his face in fear of making the teasing even worse. “we did.”

“aw!”

“that’s so cute!”

“i can’t believe he’s dating already,” jay dramatically sighs, leaning back against the couch as he places a hand over his heart. “they grow up so fast.”

“when do we get to meet him?” the others pause their teasing at heeseung’s question, waiting for an answer from niki.

“i’ll ask him about it.”

the playful pats and hair ruffles immediately resume after he answers. niki laughs as they debate amongst themselves over your relationship milestones. who will say ‘i love you’ first, planning your first anniversary, more likely to propose, how it’ll happen.

he lets their words mix together in the background as he pulls out his phone, clicking on your contact. he smiles to himself as he changes your profile picture from a random image he found online to one that he took personally. you’re holding the calico cat in your arms as she cuddles into your chest while you look up at him. everything about the picture is perfect. your bright smile, the cute cat, and most of all, the memory safely locked away deep in his mind that returns each time he glances at the image.

he saves your contact, typing out a quick message.

niki smiles down at his phone. you want to see him again. a second date. the potential for another sweet kiss shared between two equally nervous boys. more memories with you. laughing until tears sting the corners of his eyes and talks that slowly transform into deep conversations.

“i was asking if he wants to meet you.” niki locks his phone, setting it down on the couch beside him. “he’ll be doing promotions at music bank in a few weeks. he said we can meet up backstage.”

“that’s a good idea,” jungwon says.

“we’re proud of you,” jake reaches through the sea of limbs to pat niki’s knee once again with a smile. “i know we tease a lot, but we’re all happy for you.”

niki’s own lips curl into a small smile as he nods. “thank you.”
