I can’t believe I went through all of Season 2 assuming Nina was the stand-in for Crowley when you actually pay attention it’s so CLEAR that she’s Aziraphale. I was tricked by her spiky, sarcastic, cynical outer shell and lulled into a false sense of security by Maggie’s bubbly optimism and wholesome goodness, because on the surface they reflect the ineffable husbands perfectly, in their personalities, their aesthetics, even many of their actions and morals. but not, and this is the real key, when it comes to their “relationship”. but those first impressions really had me damn fooled. 

I missed the blatantness of Nina’s “we’re just friends. actually we’re not friends. we barely know each other.” the same thing Aziraphale said in season 1.  the way he still struggles to quantify their friendship when Nina asks. Nina’s sarcasm when Crowley asks about rain and awnings because it worked for him (we all know it LMAO). hell, that whole convo the girls have in the rain is so AziraCrow (“I know. I’m not your type” “...You have no idea” hits so much harder the second time, help meeeee.) “Lindsay” maybe being symbolic of Heaven and Aziraphale’s toxic relationship with them and their abuse? (the handwritten text messages in red pen make me think of angry notes on paperwork, anyone else?) because Crowley has never actually cared about what Hell thinks of him, just not getting into trouble (or him or Aziraphale getting hurt). Maggie is always chasing Nina. NINA NEVER GOES IN THE RECORD STORE. Just like Crowley always goes to the bookstore, to Aziraphale, Zira NEVER WENT TO THE FLAT (apart from The Swap but that doesn’t count imo). Crowley has always chased Zira, not the other way around. Always there to rescue him, always going to him for company, always relying on their shared connection, always US. OUR SIDE. All through season one, he comes to Zira every time to work together, never trying to work alongside Hell in any way that isn’t to save their skins or Earth, while Zira hides things from Crowley because he STILL thinks Heaven is ultimately good and will do the right thing if he can just show them. fix it from the inside. 

Maggie working up the courage to finally say something, to put herself out there, while Nina is utterly oblivious and then when she does realise Maggie has feelings, becoming standoffish, putting up that barrier, fighting it, denying it, ITS SO CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE IN THAT ORDER. the way I was fooled into thinking Nina’s trust issues are Crowley because he does have trust issues ofc he does BUT Crowley has ALWAYS TRUSTED AZIRAPHALE. has always relied on him. has always been hurt when Aziraphale doesn’t immediately reciprocate the way he expects (the holy water request, the bandstand, the “off in the stars” etc). he’s always the one putting himself forward. Aziraphale has always been the one to second guess everything, to fight their connection, their similarities, their friendship. the girls really made me think it was going to be okay when they sat Crowley down, even as my inner sirens were going haywire about Metatron interfering, they were telling Crowley he just needs to open up and it’ll all work out BUT HE’S ALREADY AT THAT POINT. he may not say it, and by gosh is that part of their damn problem, but he’s always SHOWN IT. he’s not Nina who needs time to heal and recover from her broken trust, he’s always been Maggie believing it doesn’t matter, they’ll end up together in the end anyway AND I WALKED RIGHT INTO THE TRAP THAT THIS MEANT THEY WERE GOING TO BE OKAYYYYYYYYYYY

After rewatching Into the Spiderverse last week, and my third viewing of Across the Spiderverse this weekend, a bit of a crack theory has been percolating in my head. Some spoilers here, so putting this under a readmore:

I think Doc Ock has a chance of returning in Beyond The Spiderverse. A slim chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Point A: Lack Of Resolution

This is pretty obvious so I won't belabor it; despite her role as a pretty significant villain in ItSV, along with Kingpin and Prowler, the mind behind the supercollider and given a pretty fantastic reveal, she also winds up getting hit by a truck during the climax and not being heard from again. The Prowler died, Kingpin got defeated and webbed up for the police, even Tombstone was seen getting arrested and shoved in a cop car, and the other henchmen like Scorpion also got pretty conclusive defeats at the hands of the 2D spideys during the fight itself.

But with Liv, there's no real confirmation of what happened afterwards; whether she got arrested, or ran off, or the impact was fatal and her body recovered, or what; no clue. (And if she did end up shoved through the Collider and landed in another dimension, she'd be subject to the same glitching, cell decay, and eventual death as the others, without the Spider-society tech to stabilize herself.) And like, that doesn't necessarily mean anything on its own, but at the very least the principle of "didn't see the body" is in play.

(Interestingly, I remember hearing somewhere that there was a deleted scene of her intentionally jumping into the collider portal while saying the "power of the [X] in the palm of my hands!" line that later went to Spot. Though idk where I heard it, so am unsure if this is actually legit. And even if it is, it was still a scene they chose to remove from the final film, so while it could mean that intent is still there, they also could have changed their minds on the idea entirely.)

On its own, I'd be willing to accept that that's probably the last we've seen of her... but as of AtSV, it actually isn't.

Point B: Aaron Haunts The Narrative

This part has no direct connection to her, but bear with me here. If you've seen it, (I hope you have) you know that AtSV ends with the reveal that Miles wasn't sent to his home timeline/universe, but a darker parallel version where his dad is dead but Uncle Aaron is not, and is working with the parallel version of Miles as the Prowler. He does say "I'm not" when our Miles refers to him that way, but the impression I got is that he's halfway-retired from the role but still acting as support for Miles G; the "guy in the chair" if you will.

I digress. Point is, it ends with a return for both Uncle Aaron and the Prowler identity, but this didn't come out of nowhere; all throughout the movie leading up to this, Aaron and/or the Prowler are brought up or indirectly hinted at on an honestly pretty frequent basis. Gwen's drumming recap at the beginning, the memorial grafitti on the rooftop, the Donald Glover cameo, the flash of him on the side of the building during Miles' breakdown sequence as he's rushing to get home, plus a few smaller mentions here and there. ("He takes after his uncle!" during the meeting with the guidance councilor, and a visual comparison with Uncle Ben during the "canon events" presentation, and I feel like there may be a couple others yet that I'm forgetting as well.)

The movie goes out of its way to remind you of him and his importance to Miles at every turn, and part of that is just inherently because he is so important to Miles. But it also feels like, from a writer-to-audience perspective, part of the purpose is also as a reminder; if anyone either saw ItSV but forgot most of it in the intervening time, or simply missed it altogether and for some reason decided to see AtSV first anyway, this makes sure they know exactly who and what he is, so the reveal at the end carries the full emotional weight it needs to. No matter what, you will have the proper context to appreciate Miles' reaction when Aaron steps through that door.

(Also, I just wanna say that I love that reaction in of itself; the hyperventilating panic at first, only to rush in for a tight hug. The mix of terror and comfort that comes with full awareness of both sides of him, and all the associated memories both good and bad, combined with this unexpected chance to see him (or at least a version of him) again. It's just a really great moment on that front.)

But anyway, I'm getting off track again, too many Prowler feels. ^^; What does this have to do with Doc Ock?

Point C: Aaron Isn't Alone In Haunting

This is admittedly both the key part of my theory and also the weakest one overall, so I will readily admit upfront that I may be reading too much into things, and Liv really did bow out for good in ItSV. That being said, here's my thought:

Even if a much lesser extent than Aaron, I couldn't help but notice a similar-seeming trend of brief reminders of her. On one hand, most of these can be fairly easily dismissed as simply maintaining continuity and connection with the first movie, as the bulk of them were in relation to The Spot's backstory as Jonathan Ohm; she was there for the flashback to the misplaced 42 Spider, and then seen again in a framed photo of him, when Gwen was inspecting the remains of his makeshift apartment lab. So while it's a neat inclusion, it doesn't necessarily mean anything more, right? Kingpin got mentioned too, during the Guggenheim fight with Vulture, but I'm pretty sure he isn't going to be making a comeback.

But there is one other instance that feels a bit more significant and out of place, and is what led to this theory in the first place. I mentioned this scene already in relation to the Uncle Aaron foreshadowing/reminders, but going back to it now, there is what I've dubbed the Falling Apart sequence. (From the score that plays during it.) Right after Gwen's talk with her father resolves, we cut back to Miles, swinging through the city in a desperate rush to get back home to his parents in time. (Unaware yet that this isn't his city, his home, his parents, because this isn't his universe.)

Tangential Gushing Over That Scene

It's sort of a dark parallel to the Leap Of Faith/What's Up Danger scene from ItSV, with previous bits of dialogue and past moments echoing in his mind again. There, it was all the inspiration pushing him to finally take the leap and truly become Spiderman; whereas here it's reminders of all the stress and uncertainty he's under as he races against time and possibly destiny itself, not to mention being plagued by doubts after Miguel revealed he possibly shouldn't have become Spiderman to begin with.

But what I especially love is the animation of this sequence, which on first watch I thought was stuff actually happening, but reads more on subsequent viewings like hallucinations during what's basically a panic attack. It's both gorgeous and stressful, with trains derailing and rerailing to chase Miles; the space between the skyscrapers growing narrower and more claustrophobic; and stuff like the 42 Spider, the Spot's arms, and Doc Ock's tentacles also appear briefly to hem him in even further until the end. He finally breaks free at the end, with Aaron's dying words to "just keep going" pushing him to make it the rest of the way 'home' unimpeded, a tiny bit of much-needed catharsis amidst all the overwhelming... everything else.

I really love this scene, in case it wasn't obvious.

Point C, Continued: Why Tentacle Happen?

But to get back on track, nearly everything about this sequence is mainly focused on ideas introduced in Across; the Spot, Miguel, Jefferson's predicted demise. The Spider is from the first movie, but still given extra context now; the first big exception is the reuse of Spider-Ham's line about how "the hardest part of this job is that you can't always save everyone" while images of him, Noir, and Peni appear on the glass building Miles is swinging past. Even that is still relevant to the current crisis, and their appearance there is further justified when they too properly show up again in Gwen's 'band' at the very end.

But then there's this:

The dialogue at this point is a line from Rio; while the appearance of the tentacles definitely further intensifies the claustrophobic crush of the city, it also feels like much more of a non-sequitor than even the 2D Spideys just a few shots earlier. Liv has had nothing to do with anything going on, (or at most, very indirect involvement like the displacing of the 42 Spider) has no dialogue called back to here; and heck, even in ItSV felt more like a rival to Peter B specifically instead of being especially relevant to Miles, compared to Prowler and Kingpin. So why call back to her here? It could indeed just be that the tentacles are good for adding to that entrapped feeling, but given how well-constructed the rest of the sequence was, and how deliberate animation as a process is in general, this would seem oddly careless to include so casually.

Conclusion

On the whole, I'll still readily admit that this is a pretty flimsy bit of 'evidence' (more just symbolism, really) to base a whole theory off of. Yet still, between that part of the Falling Apart sequence, the parallels to how Aaron and Miles G were foreshadowed, Liv's abrupt disappearance and lack of closure in the first film, and the knowledge that this is the first half of a split script, with all sorts of other setup in Across still awaiting payoff in Beyond, I do kinda at least feel like there may be something here.

(At the same time, the docket is already packed with a shitton of stuff that Beyond needs to be able to address and resolve, plus apparently some additional new stuff mentioned in interviews like another Gwen, Toei Spiderman, and Hobie's universe. So with all that going on, I'm not entirely sure they'd have the room for yet another returning character in amidst literally everything else.)

So while I'm not strictly counting on this to come to pass, at least for now, the basic idea is that Doc Ock got hit by that truck, fell through the collider portal and into another universe, (probably Earth 42, possibly elsewhere we may have yet to visit) and somehow found a way to stabilize her glitching to survive during the intervening time, set to make a dramatic return appearance during Beyond.

As to what role she may play, I'm not sure. I could see her making some sort of temporary truce with one of the main Spider-people for a common goal, without giving up on her evil mad science in the long run. Possibly with Miguel's group against the Spot, in exchange for freedom to keep experimenting with the Multiverse instead of getting sent back home, though I also don't think he would be willing to make that bargain unless things are truly desparate and he's fully lost the support of the rest of the Spider Society. So it could also be with Gwen or Miles, against both the Spot and Miguel; the former's more unpredictable tampering and newly eldritch nature getting in the way of her research, while the latter would of course want to put an end to her experiements and send her back home in his efforts to restore order, giving her reason to ally against.

On the other hand, her remaining entirely villainous and antagonistic would also make a lot of sense, if not moreso. If she landed in Earth 42, she could wind up as the big obstacle of the detour instead of Miles G, allowing the latter a more nuanced and dynamic role. Alternately, I could possibly see her further experimentation being connected in some way to the destruction of the universe Miguel replaced himself in, unknowingly sending him on his canon-hardliner spiral, which would certainly give her a lot more relevance to the current conflict.

But ultimately, all of that depends on whether she really would show up again, which as neat as it would be, definitely does feel like a bit of a long shot at the moment. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

LBFAD rewatch observations part 2

1. Man XLH is so brave. From day 1. She is terrified of the soldiers searching for the escaped plant spirit in Haishi but she not only saves the spirit, she also takes the time to look for the destiny book. Like imagine being that scared but doing the right thing anyway. When DFQC said she is the bravest in the 3 realms 🤌

2. "My younger brother is still as stupid and incompetent as ever". OUCH 🤣 Pre emotion DFQC is a savage. Poor Xunfeng. 😅

3. The first time he goes to rescue her because of her being in danger is also the first time he is trying to figure out how to release his soldiers. I'm just thinking about the manyyyy times he will be pulled away from doing this task because of her. "🎶Every decision made because of you🎶" ❤

4. That scene of the moon un-eclipsing to reveal DFQC > im dead. Him saying "How dare a dying person ask my name" in the most casual but also deadly way with his little head tilt > I am resurrected to die again. Dead dead dead. He is so powerful here.

5. "Is it an earthquake? Why did everyone run away scared?" My girl XLH did you not see the big handsome devil uneclipse the moon and stare daggers at everyone? She so clueless I love her 😆

Hi ABL! Thank you for all the 2023 in summary posts, I'm so excited to add some new shows to my list that I missed throughout the year. Question though, have you noticed if there is a time frame for a platform (more Viki and Gaga than YT) will keep a show up? Is it like other streaming platforms that rotate shows through quickly? Just trying to figure out if there are any shows I should prioritize before they might disappear...

Hum, I don't know. It seems like some things last forever and some last 6 moths to a year?

No clue on iQIYI because even with an account I have to back door half the time anyway. So even if they have it, they don't seem to have it for me. So if I like a thing, I tend to gank off it ASAP and never seek to rewatch there. Thus... I wouldn't notice when it's gone.

YOUTUBE

GMMTV (and other official YT) is perennial unless it gets sold over to Viki (in which case it shows up there), taken down for IP reasons (apparently) or (on one memorable occasion) is the vicim of a hack.

The grey stuff on YT tends to be taken down in waves every 6 months. Not sure on the other grey sites. Some of them can be pretty instant, like within a week or less.

Miss maas- this sh*t did not happen in the first book.

Either she legit forgot what actually happened or she changed it to spice it up for... whatever reason. Nesta already feels guilty for a lot of things, including the ones where she's not even at fault. Why the hell try to make her out to be this monster that she isn't?! For angst? So she can fill the pages, since she didn't know what else to write?! Literally, what was the point of changing that???? That whole scene was dumb anyways because it felt like Sarah wanted some badass moment, using Tamlin as a punchbag so we can all scream "OMG YASSS QUEEN".

Queen of forshadowing my ass. Her villains and ships are obvious as hell and there are plenty of plotholes left. There's a map, a clear worldbuilding, yet we've been only in the night court for 4 books. Her characters are the most powerful people in the whole universe, but need whole armies and as much as help to kill of the Hybern King. There's no logic behind the magic system either.

Best writer my ass.

okay I didn't remember that quote from acosf about Tamlin asking Nesta to take Feyre's place, but you're right, that was stated in acosf, and it NEVER HAPPENED in acotar. I just checked my ebooks to be sure. ldjalkdjaslkjdlakjslkjasd That's so fucking funny because you're right, Nesta already had enough reasons to loathe herself, and tbh she doesn't need rational, real reasons to do so, sometimes you just hate yourself lmaoooo It's not like the intervention scene where she was able to literally rewrite it from acofas to acosf, sjm just completely retconned that fact from four books ago.

I know people have a lot of fun making theories and trying to figure out the next books, but literally sjm does not plan like that. Everything revolves around who she wants to bang. She figures that out, then makes the plot fit around that, to make the banging happen. She doesn't sit there thinking about the meaning of colors, she literally said in an interview that the Valkyrie bracelet colors were just a vibe, but people are out here acting like the curtains are blue!

If she didn't leave *some* hint as to where things were going, she'd be even worse than a bad writer. She's a pantser which is totally fine, but you're right. All these little details are so freaking inconsequential, unless she decides later on that she wants them to be meaningful. Then in retrospect it's like "omg, look at this clue she left for us" when I'm willing to bet that she did it retroactively.

I do think, to her credit, the reason we're so invested is because she does the characters and their psychology well. I just rewatched my acowar reread video from 2018 (I can link it if y'all want) which I posted prior to the acofas release, and I was right about the characters. I was right about how Nesta and Elain would grieve their father and feysand having a baby soon (I said I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, despite what Feyre said.) I did say that I thought Cassian knew Mor is queer, which I haven't been proven right about - however, I am not convinced that she is executing that issue of Mor being queer particularly well.

SJM's characters are her strength, and so if I make predictions, it's based on that. Where they're at psychologically, how they are reacting to situations, who is mated, who is sad about mates, what kind of circumstances characters are in, where they want to be. If we were to break down the effort she puts into different parts of her writing, it would be like 50% characters and characterization, 45% romance, and 5% everything else (world, plot, prose).

And that's another reason why I keep insisting that trying to figure out ships based on where plots might go is... a crapshoot at best. That's not the way she prioritizes. It's always 1) the couple/who she wants to bang, and then 2) whatever she needs to write to make that happen. "There's no plot for X ship" okay well we all read acosf, right? Because plot is not her priority or concern, she can and will do whatever it takes, no matter how inconsistent or ill-defined, to get two characters banging. There are things that make more sense, characters who are more or less connected to different plots than other characters. But never underestimate her willingness to make Amren have some random ass memory of something that changes the plot completely in order to make the ship she wants to happen, happen.

Doing an Arcane rewatch finally, stuff I noticed that I missed the first time (Episode 1):

Actually understand the map made the geography make SO much more sense my god. The first time I thought Zaun was literally underneath Piltover cause of how they talk about it, which confused the hell out of me cause it also clearly is not. Realizing it's a sunken area divided by a river and some parts being underneath itself made it click

Jayce went to Zaun? Did I understand that right? I guess it would track with how his work in the early series is meant to be illegal although there wasn't a blockade there now. Also "he didn't even haggle" YEAH HE WOULDN'T

Seeing everybody pre-timeskip after having already watched through is like. Damn. I cannot protect any of you :(

I kinda like how they have you disliking Marcus from his first appearance. Worst character ever 0 stars

SO MUCH FORESHADOWING

I would have NEVER seen the lines they were drawing between Vander and Silco on my first watch but it was all there! It was all there from the beginning

It's kind of interesting to see the references to other main characters in this episode; I think it was a good call to split things up so you're not overwhelmed with new faces (I was a little; my first time) but they point out the Kirammans (hence Caitlyn) and Jayce as well.

The animation's still really pretty but it's nice being able to pay more attention to the foreshadowing and how the story plays out, for sure.

I have NO clue when they say Singed's name. I didn't know his name my first time watching and thought I'd missed it but they definitely did not say it at all this episode. Fascinated to find out when and if they say it at all lmao

Wait does that mean Jayce met every main character except Jinx? I'm pretty sure he met every main character except Jinx

OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE I ALMOST MISSED POSTING ABT BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN'S ANNIVERSARY???? im gonna get mushy here so if yall wanna skip this go for it i wont hold it against you lol but this movie means a lot to me (if u cant tell) and id just kinda like to share a little bit abt why

I remember when I first saw Brokeback, I'd been either a junior or senior in high school, and I had watched it with my ex. I literally have no clue how we got to watching it or who proposed we watch it in the first place, but I remember that even back then I had been incredibly moved by the story.

Cut to 5-6 years later, and in January of this year I'd been in the midst of a really, super dark depression thanks to some health issues that I've been dealing w for awhile now. It made it so that on top of COVID, I wasn't rly getting out of the house for anything but school, and even then doing that took a really big toll on my anxiety. So basically, from the time that the 2021 winter semester had ended for me in early December, to when school started back up again for the spring in late January, I hadn't left the house at all.

In mid January, like a week before school started back up for me, I was scrolling through Hulu, bored out of my mind and also trying to find something to occupy my time and thoughts w bc I'd been going stir crazy, and I saw that Brokeback had been listed again. I kinda lingered on it because I remember phil (@/senditothemoonn) had watched it like a month or two before and she had started talking abt it in our group chat and posting quotes abt it and stuff, and it had been awhile since I'd seen it so I was like hey! What the hell! Lets give it a watch, its time I watch it again anyways.

And like. Something happened to the world for me after that viewing. It was like it had blown apart, and when it came back together it was completelty rearranged for me.

I'm not entirely sure why that time around the movie has such a deep, DEEP impact on me when I had seen it before, and had been very touched by it back then. I think its partly that a. I never used to watch movies with subtitles, and so before I realized that I probably have issues with the way my mind processes sound, a lot of movie dialogue just kinda. Didn't get internalized by me for some reason? Even now when I rewatch old faves that I haven't seen with subtitles, I'm always astounded by what the hell theyre saying because I had never rly picked up on it before, lol.

And like...I mean if you've seen the movie then you already know this, but their accents and dialect are kinda hard to get through. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Heath as Ennis. Which isn't in any way a jab at him, I think every part of his performance is super thoughtful and well-crafted and every acting choice he makes serves the character in only positive ways. But when you already have issues processing audio, and when you have a character who's jaw is perpetually cleched so tight that the words literally have to "fight" their way out of his mouth, its just like. Not the best combination lol.

And so this time around when I saw the movie, I saw it with subtitles and it opened up a new dimension of the film to me. Honest to God, the first time I watched the movie, I had no idea that the shirts at the end were so signifigant because Jack had stolen Ennis'. I guess the first time I saw it, I didn't catch the part where Ennis talks about having left his damn shirt up there, and Jack just kinda shrugs it off and changes the subject. When I saw that moment this time, it didn't really strike me as anything important until the movie got to the end and you realize that Jack had kept the shirts all those long 20 years and UGH. I literally remember screaming with tears in my eyes, thats what happened to the shirt! There they are! And then when I saw that Ennis had put his shirt over Jack's to hang together on his closet door for the rest of his life? Dead. Dead, I was literally stabbed in the heart 50 million times and killed dead. I'd never made those connections before and now that I had I like. got it, yanno? I got why this was an oscar winner, and why people were sk devastated by its best picture loss. Not that I hadn't before, but it just hit so much harder.

So yeah, the subtitles probably had a lot to do w why its stayed lingering in my mind for a long while, but I also think its because in a few ways it kind of spoke to me and made me think about my health issues and the self-imposed quarantine that I'd put myself through for the better part of a year at that point.

To me, the whole story is about regret, about not taking the chances we have while we have them and having to learn to live with knowledge of the things we didn't let ourselves do and the memories we didn't let ourselves make.

I hadn't seen a lot of my family for awhile at that point because I just didn't want to be out of my house, and its only been recently that I realized how much life I've missed out on living for a good year and a half-ish or so. And like yeah, I have a reason, my health issues and super aggressive anxiety have kinda put me through the ringer. But I dunno like. I kind of empathized and related to Ennis' character in a really odd way, because he also let his fear control what he did and especially what he did not do, and for that, he ended up living a half-life and missed his chance of getting to spend his time with the person he loved the most.

For me, the fear of regret is one of my biggest motivators in doing literally anything. I've realized I don't want to end up like Ennis, isolating myself from my loved ones and missing out on the chance for love and life because of some issues I have. And I mean its not like they're not real issues. Just like the fears that motivated Ennis' actions, theyre very real concerns. But since seeing the movie, I've been a lot more proactive about seeing doctors and trying to get this shit fixed up, because I don't want to end up wasting my life away. I wanna find my Jack, and I wanna be happy, and I wanna live.

As an old Big Time Rush fan who recently went to a concert and is remembering all my previous fics and getting sucked back into the fandom, I would just like to complain very quickly about the lack of distinction AO3 users seem to have between the Big Time Rush (TV show) and Big Time Rush (band) tags.

I'm probably not the first or only person to complain about this, but I'm 99% certain that one was intended for RPF and one was intended for fic based on the show only. Tagging both for your show fic only confuses and makes it harder for people trying to search specifically for RPF, AND for people wanting to exclude RPF, for that matter. Because now if you want to hide anything featuring the actual real life band members, without missing out on any show fics, you have to type all their names in the exclude box, and who has the time for that?

Everyone was panicking. The Avengers had just received a ransom video showing Tony in the hands of some HYDRA kidnappers. They were currently rewatching it, hoping to find some clues to where HYDRA was keeping Tony, as JARVIS couldn't locate him.

"What'cha watching?" a voice over Steve's shoulder said, startling him.

Behind him stood Tony. Steve couldn't do anything other than gawk at Tony, who, other than a few scrapes and bruises, looked completely fine.

"I guess you didn't want to wait for us to rescue you," Bucky remarked.

Tony grinned. "Where would be the fun in that?" he said.

Hi I need help I keep hearing that the Adrien is a sentimonster theory is confirmed but I'm caught up on the show now so I must be missing something if that's true can you tell me what episode so I can rewatch it?

I think there have been a few clues to this but I can't put it so well together (ill try anyways) and I don't remember most of the episode's names so pardon moi and sorry if my english bad >-<

So first of all the Adrien being perfect talk - well, he's getting called that a lot. and so do sentimonsters! like Sentibug from the episode "Ladybug", which showed us that sentimonsters can look like humans and have their own free will and think and feel on their own.

his mother being dead/in coma from using the peacock miraculous that put her in this snow white situation (idk if this has been confirmed 100% in canon but it's obviously the case). Why was she using it? how often? what did she create with that? maybe a SON??????????? kinda sus if you ask me.

next, we all seen this klimt knockoff in Gabriel's office. Now this isn't my take, I've read this theory by someone who isn't on instagram anymore. The lady on the original painting is Adele Bloch-Bauer who died at 44 years old. Before that she also struggled to carry three pregnancies. This could be a parallel to Emilie and suggest what she needed the peacock for.

In Felix - we are introduced to the mysterious twin rings and adrien's mysterious twin cousin. "Do you always do what your father tells you to?" says the clone. Moving on to season 4, we see a lot of clues! First in Megaleech Adrien being silenced by his father, again attention pointed towards gabe's hand with the ring and then as Adrien obediently leaves, this mf rubs the ring as if it was activated by touch or something.

Then we have the episode Gabriel Agreste, in which Felix is getting shadowmoth vibes from gabe so he goes to investigate the topic, get's threatened by sentigabriel to get poofed with a snap of fingers, just like one would get rid of a sentimonster.

Then ephemeral - we all know what went wrong there :) And obviously gabriel uses the ring again to force adrien into akumatization, making breaking free for him impossible although the poor child is trying now that episode just made me sad ;_;

Aaaand I guess the finale! We see Adrien and Felix switch roles and Gabriel loses control over his son, partly because he gave the ring that would control him to Nathalie, maybe it's because it's not really Adrien. Nathalie quickly picks up and gives the command. But it seems like Felix is only playing along

In strike back Felix is also shown to feel a connection with the sentimonsters. It feels like he knows what it's like to be them, he's sorry he's leaving them to die basically. He also desperately wants the peacock miraculous.

To summarize, both Adrien an Felix seem to be sentimonsters. Has it been officially confirmed in canon? No. Did we get enough clues to treat it as canon? I'd say yes. Just like we all knew who Luka's and Juleka's father was before Crocoduel. Also Astruc is posting on twitter about this like crazy, trying to get the fans to understand sentimonsters better but oF coUrSe he's not confirming any theory there :)

So apparently there was some special LeoFiat episode I didn't know about and I actually don't know if it's uptodate or not. I think it came out yesterday (or today) but I could be wrong. Anyway, I watched it and I can just say: it was hella boring. I know TharnType was boring too but I forgot how boring it was and how uninteresting LeoFiat are. Now, I'm not quite sure if I will even bother about "Don't say no". This special surely didn't catch my attention.

So, for you who hasn't watched: you didn't miss anything. I'm gonna briefly sumarize it.

We start of with Leo's voice in the background and him sitting on a sofa reminiscing about how their friendship slowly changed into a relationship. Right at the beginning, we a get Fiat's most creepy and fake smile ever.

Then there are basically just flashbacks of TharnType season 2, so if you forgot about some parts, then you have the chance to rewatch, otherwise, it's a lot to skip. First it's about Fiat injuring his knee, so Leo hurries home. But as soon as Type showed up as well, I cringed a lot. Just barely seeing those scenes was enough for me to remember the shitshow TharnType season 2 was with all its way-too-stretched conflict and weak plot and bad dialogue and cringey editing..

We also get a flashback of the following scene. I still don't have any clue about what is going on here.

This is not the only time Fiat claims to be seeking Leo's attention by treating him the worst way you could possibly treat a friend.

At this point, I was like "Fiat you don't deserve Leo at all". I forgot how annoying his whining is and how bad they act. At least, they don't seem as toxic... yeah, well, until this happens:

I still can't bear this scene. They f***ing tortured Fiat and Leo was WATCHING and still, Fiat will never know Leo was part of the plan. He still thinks Leo saved him and I- arg. Mame, what have you done?

It's still very odd, Fiat doesn't seem to have any trauma and even apologizes to Leo whilst Leo should be the one doing so.

The scene was especially cringey because Fiat was like "I'm sorry" and Leo was like "No, I'm even more sorry" so, Fiat was like "I'm so sorry, you can't imagine" and then Leo was like "No, I'm the most sorry here" and so on.

Even this special episode alone is so wrong at so many points... The fact Leo slept with Fiat after this very traumatizing experience, gives me goosebumps and I think it's really disgusting. He wants Fiat to sleep but Fiat doesn't want to and asks for Leo's warmth and embrace which is totally fine at this point. But then they kiss? And after a few seconds, Leo starts to undress which just seemed out of context and misplaced. Probably the worst first sex scene I've seen so far. The mood wasn't there at all.

And then we get the last scene with this ending which probably looked better in the writer's heads than it actually turned out.

So far, so good. I skipped a lot. Many scenes were already familiar and they just added a few. It's just extremely boring mostly. Even when it could be exciting or cool or something, the mood drops because of the bad dialogue and pauses between the lines.

Also if they want to think they made love (and here, why did this person used made love but not have sex?! What does it change in their mind from CT's "fade to black moment"? Where is written C and A shared their matching/mutual feelings? That's right, Nowhere. So why they made love but CT just had sex?!) they can. Everyone is free to have an headcanon in the end.(3/3)

Deep breath. Let them say whatever they want because literally everything is proving them wrong.

The ultimania, that they usually shake at us like a bible, has both the clotiscrew tunnel and Tifa’s resolution listed front and centre. Tifa and Cloud’s impressive words relate more to each other than any of their quotes have before. The in game messages from the devs hidden in posters and graffiti that we can only see when Tifa’s in our party and Aerith isn’t, all tell us that we aren’t imagining things. In fact, the devs want us to go all out there and think of the biggest gestures we can -- despite Cloud and Tifa not even being a couple yet -- and then go one extra. They want us to go over scenes and remember things that are said and make those connections.

It’s why Tifa keeps going on about connections. She never did that in OG. Ever. We need to look for the connections that tell the hidden story in part one because OG’s story for Cloti was hidden during Midgar. We didn’t see it because the devs at the time made a bigger deal about making the audience love Aerith. Anything Cloti was downplayed and that’s the metaphor in this disc for them, too. That’s the metaphor of their romance in OG. That we had to follow the clues and build the big picture.

Which, ykno, sucks because having to dig for gold is hard work, but that’s also one of the hints in the graffiti the devs left, so it’s not like they didn’t anticipate us needing to make an effort.

I’m betting that the rest of the game won’t be so sneaky about them. I’m hopeful, anyway, especially since my biggest vote is for established cloti content and not just endgame cloti. I wanna see them beyond the point they get together because that’s where they’re most fun.

I’ve got so many smaller posts that showcase things one step at a time. Put it together and basically:

Chapter 3: Cloud and Tifa flirt, agree to go on a date (Cloud is thirsty af and Tifa knows it because she teases him). The date is canon and did happen, even if some people try to argue against it because there’s dialogue callbacks in other chapters that reference stuff that happened during it. Chapter 4: Whispers (OG fans) try to keep them apart, resulting in them missing taking each other’s hand. Chapter 5: Clotiscrew tunnel and yeah, Cloud absolutely kissed her on the cheek (the graffiti in chapter 13 reveals the hints) Chapter 5: Tifa’s embarrassed because she thinks Cloud kissed her by accident - maybe - and he agrees to not bring it up again. (”You always know just what to say”) Chapter 9: Cloud looks at Tifa in the back of that carriage like he’s seeing a goddess. Tifa is teary-eyed that Cloud’s okay. Even though he’s sent away from her, he stares longingly after the carriage until he can’t see Tifa anymore. Chapter 9: Cloud’s literally about to storm Corneo’s place when a panicked Johnny runs up screaming “Tifa!” despite Cloud having spent the last few hours messing around getting a dress for Aerith.  Chapter 11: During the double arm grab, Cloud leans towards Tifa, keeps eye contact with her, agrees with her pov, then looks surprised and smiles when she grabs his arm.  Chapter 12: Post hand catch when Tifa’s running into Cloud’s arms at the top of the pillar, she hugs him in a reversal of the clotiscrew tunnel in that she surprised him with affection.  Chapter 13: Having fallen several times and been unconscious before, Tifa wakes at the start of this chapter with her arm under her head because Cloud put it like that.  Chapter 14: Barret’s resolution, where Cloud’s reminded what being jealous feels like in connection to Tifa. He wouldn’t feel like that if he didn’t have deep feelings for her. Chapter 14: Aerith’s resolution where she tells Cloud not to fall in love with her, he looks away and expresses surprise,  and then a soft eyed look as he stares at the house, where Tifa’s sleeping. Because he’s soldier Cloud most of the time, he’s not connected to those deep feelings, so having Aerith make the connection for him is surprising news. Before he can focus on what that means (fractured psyche) she distracts him because she knows he’s not in a fit state to have that kind of revelation about himself. Her line “Even if you have it isn’t real” alludes to that fracture between Cloud’s real self and Soldier persona. Chapter 14: after the resolution where he hugs Tifa and Leslie brings up messages, Cloud looks like he wants to mention the hug, but then doesn’t because he expects Tifa wouldn’t want him to after the last time when she wanted to ignore their intimacy (chapter 5), but she does, which surprises him.  Chapter 16: Cloud physically follows Tifa’s progress down the stairway as she leaps across the lights in the Shinra building. He trips running down the rest when she falls and stays there staring at that spot as she finishes the journey over to the reception desk. He’s so shaken he doesn’t even speak until he can see her properly without the screen blocking them. After the sim: Cloud literally reorients his body to Tifa’s position whenever he can’t see her. He keeps himself in line with her so that he can reach her quickly and save her. Final battle: Cloud offers Tifa a flirty line and raises his eyebrows at her when she appears first.  The final scene of them, we can see that while his head is turned towards Barret and Aerith as they talk, his body remains in line with Tifa’s position.

So yeah, put it together and you get a much bigger picture of their slow burn relationship from the emotional side of things. And don’t forget between that there’s a lot of longing looks, and there’s probably a load of other stuff that happens I’ve not included, but this is the most recent posts I’ve had going on.

Cloud’s bias is showing, so don’t worry about what other people are saying. He might not be great with words, but his actions are yelling from the rooftops.

So it's Deceit's birthday. One year since the Lying video.

This time last year, I wasn't having a good time. On January 30th, I came home from school, walked the dog and then my mum asked if I could sit down for a moment. About 18 months after having a stroke, my Babcia had gone into hospital with pneumonia. Mum hadn't told me she'd been in hospital because she thought it wasn't that major. Guess she assumed wrong.

Normally in Poland, people will bury their dead roughly 3/4 days later. Because we live in the UK, they postponed it until Day 6 so Mum could say goodbye to her mother.

So this time exactly a year ago, I was getting ready to catch a plane in the morning. Then Thomas uploaded a new video. It was very late at night for me and I should have been sleeping in preparation for the long day I was going to have when I woke up. Still, I knew if I didn't watch it immediately, I would have to wait a week to see the new content.

And oh boy, was I glad to have seen it sooner. Joan was featured as a voice and as Roman, which was cool to see. It's clear how much Thomas loves his friends. Getting content where they collab is great.

Then the big reveal - Patton wasn't Patton. 18 minutes into the video, everyone is giving off weird vibes. Logan gets silenced and I'm figuratively on the edge of my seat because it's clear something big is about to happen. Go on, Thomas, learn something new about yourself. Please.

Boom, best theme I've heard thus far kicks in. I get my first glimpse of the slimy boi and wow, he looks amazing. I think it was Joan and Talyn who were responsible for the make-up. So shout out to them for making him look so good with his scaly half face.

Cue me being so excited about the plot twist and the episode in general that I struggle to fall asleep for a while because my mind is so busy.

Anyway, the next morning we fly to Poland. On the 5th, the priest ruins what was a nice service by bringing up his personal issues concerning my uncle. The rest of the trip, I keep out of the way while my parents discuss inheritance and help my uncle sort paperwork/legal stuff out.

All the while, I'm using Deceit to remind myself things aren't going to be this rough forever. New content from my favourite creators will come out eventually and I will laugh or smile. There are things to get excited about and look forward to. If I focused on that, the fact I missed Babcia, a man she admired ruined her funeral out of spite or that my paternal grandfather would die just 4 weeks later wouldn't weight on me quite as heavily.

Meg WTF, I've been away from tumblr since the end of skam italia basically (I dont have a blog, I just check on my fave blogs to read their opinions) I randomly came back to find out you fell into the ITSAY rabbit hole I'm so happyyyyyy I miss it so much I can't wait for March 2021.. and I'm so glad you love Teh cos twitter isn't that woke about him. My confused boy. Anyway I read all your posts about it and really, I could rewatch this show countless times, what a masterpiece.

Oh we have watched a million and one things since then, my love ❤️ hahaha

But hello! And goodness. Do you mean the end of season 4? Because that took me ages to get over. I still find myself shocked how wonderful s4 was and how much I adored Sana and how well it was all wrapped up. Oh Skam It always be just so precious to me. Such a happy place!

And LORD. Where did ITSAY come from? A friend in Japan recommended it to me. She knows me pretty well and knows I’m weak as hell for a lot that the show does, mainly that type of symbolistic metaphorical writing and also the sheer god damn beauty and that type of nuanced acting... ugh all of it. So yeah I have never really watched many shows from that part of the world as I kinda rely on recommendations (kinda wanna avoid a lot of the stuff I see that screams “made purely for people to fawn over handsome guys kissing” because that just ain’t it for me and I feel uncomfortable) and I wasn’t sure what to expect from ITSAY until about 5 minutes in and it’s just blissful. It is just a v well made tv show clearly created with a lot of care and I was heartened to see it marketed really seriously and sophisticatedly. The show feels kinda weird to me and I am all about that. Weird in terms of how refreshing and surprising some of it feels even if some is kinda stuff we have seen before - a lot isn’t. I love when characters are a little weird and strange and intriguing.

Teh is 100% that for me. He’s a weirdo and he’s emotionally stunted. I wonder if people maybe don’t click with him is because he ain’t created for easy consumption as a character. He screams, to me, a character created by LGBT+ folks for that audience, same with Oh. He isn’t easy to digest! But that’s what I love. He’s a really fascinating character because of the amount of layers you have to get through to see his truth but the way the show is created, it’s like we get to see both sides of him simultaneously mainly because the acting is so nuanced. I love how some of the shots are so telling too to add to his state of mind like the tiny moment he’s trying to charge his phone and is in emotional turmoil and he’s driving in circles on the road like he just can’t make himself go home in the opposite direction to Oh and like the moments when he just can’t express himself and just collapses all over stuff 😂 how can you not love him? He’s brilliant. He’s intense, a cry baby at times, arrogant at others! He’s silly and petty and sweet and over the top and had a fabulous array of Hawaiian shirts! His journey in self discovery with Oh, his family, Tarn, himself and his dreams is just so meaningful that by the end he LOOKS different, acts so different (that whole end montage is just ever so sweet from his perspective as he’s so relaxed and not once does he do his nervous Teh thing) and is so confident in himself and sure about many things, even in terms of his dream accepting its fundamental that it exists in his heart and as his passion more than as something to prove

I genuinely adore his character and I think BK did a fucking spectacular job at portraying a complex, loveable, tricky young LGBT+ soul. I’m always down for weird characters and complex souls who are difficult to decode and isn’t that the damn title of the show?! 😂 (well, the Thai version!). Isn’t that what Oh does and what the entire show is about? It’s the foundation of the message and the story - translating your feelings and your identity and finding someone who can maybe do that when you can’t or who will try etc - but above all, working yourself out. I can see how he’d be a little bit of a marmite character at times as early on he is a bit of a dick but the writing and acting makes complete and utter sense as to why and god do I love when writing is capable of taking characters from that to the other end of the spectrum carefully and navigating the depths of a character... and using subtext and metaphors and every possible trick in the book to manage it.

I mean, Teh uses every possible method he can to express himself and try to work himself out from actually verbalising right down to flash cards, physical movement, silence, Instagram, scent, touch, food, distance, Chinese language, hidden meanings, colour, gestures, fictional characters and double meaning. There’s no way I wasn’t going to be absolutely fond of a character like that?

How can you not adore him in that moment at sunset when he’s just staring at it crying and you can SEE the relief and gratitude and peace. Ugh makes me cry just thinking about it.

So yeah, clearly I have nothing to say about this show 😂 so glad you loved it too. I had no clue it was always intended to be 2 parts and that a second part was due until I got to the end of the last episode and saw the teaser! If the last 5 episodes are even close to being as bloody magical as the first 5 then I’m down for another 5-6 hours of being emotionally compromised! I have a lot to say about this show and I doubt anyone wants to read it but when shows get to me like this all I want to do is ramble about them which obvs happened ridiculously with Skam It s2/4 and other shows but I think it’s all been said already 😂 i must ask my mum to tell me again about her time living in Phuket because I’m certain I recognised a couple of places from her photos and it made me miss when I’d receive her home videos when I was a teenager and she lived over there 🥺

Feel free to come shout at me about the show btw. I don’t know many who have watched it and so I’m kinda shouting into a void 😂
