The fact she said "daddy I've been hit" means she must be used to gun threats and violence against her and her family. 4 year olds should be worrying about when the next cocomelon or Sesame Street episode is coming out, not whether they've been shot or not. they are children, babies for God’s sakes!
And fuck the police For taking four hours to arrive. the fact that it took these officers *FOUR HOURS* to show up just shows that we aren’t a priority to them. a child could have lost her life in those 4 hours, a mother and father could have lost their baby in those 4 hours… there’s no excuses for this!
But please explain why people want the police to be defunded and/or abolished. #AriannaDelane

There is absolutely no fucking excuse for the police to take that long. And to the "people" who thought that shooting a four year old, an innocent CHILD, was okay? It isn't. It fucking isn't. Arianna Delane could've died in the four hours the police didn't come. Parents could've lost their child in the four hours they didn't come. Fuck you all, honestly. I'm not American, so maybe it's just that the German news stations haven't talked about it, but so far I haven't seen an American person that said they talked about it. "Racism isn't a problem anymore" say that to the people who are killed because of it. The people who lost family members, friends, children because of this. To the people who are getting oppressed on a daily basis. Say that to the four year old girl who just was targeted and shot, who is now in the hospital instead of living her life, like she should be able to.

I don't want to derail any already going Ariana Delane posts, but haven't seen this brought up?
This isn't just a police failing, it is a first responder failing
Yes the police as they are now should have shown up to take statements and investigate and, if they're first, help any injured... but usually firefighters and then ems should be on the scene even before that, and are far better trained to handle situations like that
Yes the police were 4 hours late, but I think the more distressing question is why were they still the first on the scene?
#firefighters usually arrive before ems cause there are more stations than there are hospitals#so they are trained to have a certain level of first aid and stabalizing care#but according to the articles i found neither fire nor ems even showed up?#her mother! who had also been shot! had to drive them to the hospital!#ariana delane#George Floyd#blm#black lives matter#black girls matter

George Floyd's niece was shot
A 4-year-old girl is recovering after she was shot in a Houston apartment on New Year's Day. Arianna Delane's family told CBS affiliate KHOU that she is the niece of George Floyd, who was murdered by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020.
Delane was sleeping in the apartment when someone opened fire just before 3 a.m. Another child and four adults were also in the apartment at the time of the shooting.
On Tuesday, Houston police said they are investigating the incident. They do not have a suspect description or a motive for the shooting in which at least one person fired several shots into the apartment. Though the department did not name Delane, they did confirm a 4-year-old victim was shot in the torso.
"She was transported in a private vehicle to an area hospital where she underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition," the police said.
A friend of the family's told KHOU that the girl had a punctured lung, punctured liver and three broken ribs, and that she walked for the first time since the shooting on Tuesday.
Police have been criticized for their response to the incident after Delane's father, Derrick Delane, told KTRK-TV that they didn't arrive at the scene until 7 a.m., more than four hours after the shooting occurred.
"My daughter jumped up and said, 'Daddy, I've been hit' and I was shocked until I seen the blood and I realized my 4-year-old daughter was really hit," he told KTRK. "She didn't know what was going on. She was asleep."
Derrick Delane said that his daughter's mother drove her to the hospital.
Houston police chief Troy Finner said he is opening an investigation into the matter.

George Floyd’s four-year-old great niece Arianna Delane was shot at night while she was sleeping in what her father claimed was a targeted attack.
Arianna was one of the two children and four adults who were sleeping inside the second floor of their south Houston, Texas apartment when a shooter opened fire at around 3am on New Year’s day.
Arianna was sleeping in the front bedroom when gunfire broke out.
She survived the attack and is recovering after an emergency surgery for a punctured lung and liver. She also suffered three broken ribs.
Houston police in a statement said they do not know the possible motive of the firing or if the girl or other family members were targeted.
Mr Delane claimed it was a targeted shooting but did not elaborate.
“Why would my house get shot up?” he said.
“My daughter don’t know. I can’t explain that to her. As the father, you’re supposed to protect the kids.”
I hate the way they phrased this because that really is the obvious potential motive and tbh the most likely. ALSO police showed up 4 FUCKING HOURS AFTER
The family has accused the police of a delayed response and said officials did not arrive until 7am.
Houston’s police chief Troy Finner said in a statement that an Internal Affairs investigation has been launched into the late response.
“I am aware and have concerns regarding the delayed response time in this incident and have initiated an Internal Affairs investigation,” he said.
but it's okay they're doing an internal investigation. I'm sure that'll get that fixed right up!!
