SURVIVOR SERIES 2021
Summary: Shiloh Solis (OC) makes her return to WWE in an effort to assist her friend Becky Lynch against Charlotte Flair and Danika Brooks (OC), Shiloh’s old rival. She also takes a trip to the past, remembering how she got here in the first place.
Warnings: Typical wrestling violence, cursing, mention of blood, and description of injury (nothing crazy though) and I believe that’s it.
A/N: you can obviously read this in the perspective of your own descriptors (ie. your own hair, eyes, description yada yada) I am not stopping you! This is just a little info that if you wish to do that, feel free to ignore any way that I describe Shiloh. It just felt easier to me to have a character, rather it be the reader. All of my characters are usually POC though, so that’s how I will write them!
Also, feel free to tell me what you think and also comment if you would like to be added to a tag list for this series. I will be creating more writings later on but if you have requests for a series, imagine, or one-shot send them over! I do not bite :)

“HOW ARE YOU FEELING?”
“Like I’m gonna throw up.” Shiloh responded to Triple H as they stood in one of the many arena entrances. His chuckle to her response got drowned out by the crowd’s loud pop at the match taking place. “Now I feel like I’m gonna pass out.”
He shook his head at the girl before moving with her closer to her drop off point.
“You’ll be fine. You were a crowd favorite, and you probably still are. This type of crowd is light work to you.” He handed her a face mask, glasses, and a black hat with ‘THE MAN’ on it. She rolled her eyes as she took the items from him.
“Light work to Shiloh 2 years ago. The last time these people saw me I was being lifted onto a stretcher.” Triple H nodded helping her put on her hoodie.
“Yeah, but that wasn’t your fault.” He watched as she looked on at the mass of people, placing a hand on her shoulder to get her attention. “You had an army behind you then, you have an army behind you now. Trust me, you got this.”
She nodded her head, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, before putting on all the items. Once she put on the hat she bid a farewell to Triple H, moving towards the barricade near the ring.
She was disguised as a staff member of the arena, to get close to the ring and execute her attack on Danika. This moment it self has her feeling a ton of mixed emotions. But, as she looked on at the battle in front of her and hearing the crowds cheers, a smile made its way on her face. She had truly missed this, everything from the atmosphere to the bumps she would take. She loved wrestling and was grateful what Danika did—what Danika tried to do wasn’t the end of her career.
Laying her eyes on the person in her thoughts, she couldn’t help but scowl. She couldn’t help the anger of seeing her not only still wrestling, but also with a “Money in the Bank” briefcase in her hand. After all the pain she caused, pain that had been fully intentional, Vince still kept her around. Shiloh guessed cause he believed she brought something to the table. Yet, Shiloh believed Danika always showed up to the table empty handed. All she brought to the WWE was another wannabe superstar, who can’t help that they aren’t different from the next wrestler.
The fact that her and Danika were so similar was what pushed Danika over the edge. That’s what caused her injury to happen.
It was coming towards the end of 2019, and Shiloh had been on a run to gain the Women’s Tag Team Championships with her partner, Asuka. Her previous partner, Naomi, had to leave on a hiatus leaving Shiloh to recruit Asuka. The run had been successful and they were closer and closer to the championship belts, until their match against Danika and Charlotte.
The opposing team had also gotten a high chance of getting an opportunity to face off for the titles. Yet, only one team could move on, and this match would determine it.
The entrances were perfect, and the match had been set to be an interesting one. Both sides were ready for whatever could be thrown at them, and they expected a lot of damage to be dealt. Four women that were brutal forces all wanted a chance for these titles, and they weren’t letting anything stop them. Especially Danika.
After the bell had rang, the fight commenced. Tags had been alternating as the match progressed. When Charlotte was in, Asuka would tag Shiloh due to the height difference, and vice versa when Danika was tagged in. The match was like a beautifully orchestrated art piece, until the final tag of the night.
Charlotte and Shiloh were in the ring holding the ref’s attention. Charlotte held Shiloh in a front face lock before moving to her corner and tagging in Danika. The two performed in sync, Charlotte holding Shiloh in place as Danika delivered chops to her chest. Finally, Charlotte let go and placed herself on the other side of the ropes.
Danika grabbed the collapsed black haired girl by the head and hit her over and over again, causing her to fall in the middle of the ring. Asuka reached her hand out for Shiloh, but Shiloh was too occupied trying to protect her head, rather than to make an attempt to reach for the tag. Danika looks around at the crowd before lifting Shiloh to her feet. With Shiloh still in her grip, Danika takes a deep breath, before mustering up her strength to perform a Biel throw. Shiloh flies face first into the ring post, and suddenly feels a burning feeling on her forehead. She begins to feel disoriented as shouts from the crowd, referee and Asuka all mesh together.
Not understanding why her vision has become so blurry and why her ears were ringing, she reached up to touch where the burning was coming from. Once feeling something wet on her hands, she was met with crimson instead of her usually skin colored palms. She was bleeding. From what she could understand from the ref’s shouting, he had just disqualified Danika and Charlotte. What Shiloh learned later on after the fight, was that Danika removed the padding from the turnbuckle. This resulted in Shiloh’s head injury, and the reason why Danika performed that Biel throw.
Even with the disqualification, it didn’t seem like Danika was leaving anytime soon. Danika reached down to the already injured Shiloh, and hoisted her up, tossing her over the ring post she had just hit her head on. Not able to provide a soft landing, Shiloh placed her hand out to stop the impact. She was met with pain in her wrist, and another shot of pain in her knee. And she could tell from the crowd’s reaction, it did not look good.
The match ended there in that moment as the medics on scene came to help. And those same medics later told her she had a possible concussion, a sprained wrist, and a torn ACL. But all she heard was, “You have to take an indefinite break from wrestling.”
That night changed the trajectory of a lot of things.
Asuka needed a new partner, and that resulted in the birth of the Kabuki Warriors. Her and her partner Kairi Sane proceeded to win the titles in October of that year.
Danika and Charlotte never won the titles, but they created an unbreakable alliance that ruined a lot of opportunities for others. Then Danika got pushed to the forefront, to replace the absence of Shiloh. Ironic isn’t it.
And off the screen during her recovery, Shiloh started a relationship that seemed to end as soon as it began. That relationship was with none other than Jey Uso. He had been one of her best friends, along with Jimmy and Naomi, during the time of her recovery. She obviously knew of their presence cause they worked together, but when Naomi and her were partners they were practically attached at the hip. So, her husband had to be put in the equation too, that meant her husband’s twin brother came a part of the package deal. Shiloh never opposed, she absolutely adored the twins, and after awhile wanted them to be everywhere Naomi and her went. So, the fact they would check in with her recovery didn’t surprise her. What did surprise her was the fact she had a “boyfriend” out of it.
The labels were never truly placed on their relationship, but anyone who was involved in seeing it, knew what it was. Yet, you would expect your boyfriend to at least text you a few times in the week, not once a month. Shiloh never blamed him for his unfortunate shortage of texts towards the end of their situationship. The Bloodline had just started to be created, and he was involved with Roman, and all the crazy stuff they had going on. So time was sparse, and when schedules don’t line up like they use to, texts don’t get sent as frequently either.
Shiloh was left without a career, a title, and even a “boyfriend” all in the span of a few months. With this kind of luck she expected her life to become more pathetic. But, she was wrong. In the 2 years of her absence she kept her mind and thoughts on recovery. She bettered herself and healed herself, making sure when and if she got the call to return, she was ready. Whether she got that call in 10 years or 10 days, she was ready. That call came 3 months before this current event, and here she was in the crowd like a tiger watching her prey.
Shiloh watched as Danika cheered on Charlotte from the sidelines, getting stressed out every time Becky would kick out. Danika placed her hands on her head pacing the outside of the ring. Her attention was quickly pulled again, when Charlotte performed an O’Connor Roll on Becky, holding her down for the pin. Danika began to plot, and while the ref was counting, she placed Charlotte’s hand on the ropes. The ref quickly saw Charlotte’s hand causing the count to stop. He didn’t see Danika’s involvement, making the blame shift to Charlotte. Obviously annoyed, Charlotte shoots up leaving Becky on the floor, and she begins to argue with the ref.
While this is happening, Danika uses her briefcase to hit Becky over the head. This attempt to disorient Becky goes unnoticed and Danika moves to interfere again. But as she lifts the briefcase, she is speared. The crowd roars at the spear, more excited that Danika was stopped. Danika is then throw head first into the stairs and falls to the ground along with her briefcase. All eyes are on attacker, and Shiloh takes off her disguise, and for a second worries when the crowd doesn’t react. After a pregnant pause though, the crowd pops in recognition.
“I can’t believe it, is that Andromeda?!” Michael Cole can be heard asking, using Shiloh’s nickname. Corey Graves responds from next to the older man, “Yes, it is! Just with a new look.”
With the new crowd volume and her partner laid out on the floor, Charlotte looks on shocked at Shiloh. All Shiloh does is smile before Charlotte is grabbed, and Becky performs her own O’Connor Roll into a pin. The refs count ends as quickly as it started, and Charlotte’s kick out comes to late. Becky’s music fills the already loud arena as she falls down to the mat. Charlotte pulls herself into a corner with nothing but disappointment and anger on her face. Shiloh rolls into the ring grabbing Becky’s belt and helping to her feet. She looks at Becky with a smile before grabbing her hand and raising it up. The crowd somehow gets louder.
After letting Becky bask in the glory for a bit they both finally exit the ring, walking backwards as they look at the sight of a now collected Danika and a still defeated Charlotte. Wrapping her arm around Becky’s waist in a side hug, Becky lifts her belt in the air with her other hand one more time to the crowd. Shiloh lifts her fist with her in a sign of victory.
Danika moves her eyes finally from the pair towards Charlotte, who is already glaring daggers at the Money in the Bank winner.
“Seems there’s going to be some trouble in paradise.”
“You could say that again Corey.”

A Ukrainian teen who was moved by Russian authorities from Russian-occupied Ukraine to Russia last year was told he could get drafted into Putin's pathetic army after he turns 18.
After an international outcry, Bogdan may finally be returned to Ukraine.
A 17-year-old Ukrainian who was moved from Ukraine to Russia found out recently he was facing the prospect of being conscripted into the army fighting against the country of his birth. Bogdan Yermokhin, originally from the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, tried to return to Ukraine in March but was stopped by Russian border guards. He is soon due to turn 18 and was ordered to report to a Moscow region draft centre next month. But then his plight became public knowledge and after his lawyer appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky for help, Russia appears to have had a change of heart. Russian's children's commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova announced on Friday that he would soon be taken abroad to meet his cousin, and Ukraine confirmed the plan. Bogdan Yermokhin was orphaned in 2014 and before Russia's invasion of Ukraine he lived with a foster family in the port city of Mariupol. The director of a technical college where he was studying became his legal guardian in 2021. In 2022, Mariupol was seized by Russian forces after one of the bloodiest battles of the war, and Bogdan ended up in Russia. It remains unclear how or why he was moved.
Russia has been illegally transporting Ukrainian kids from occupied territories since not long after Putin's invasion began. This is banned by international law.
[I]n March 2023, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Ms Lvova-Belova and President Vladimir Putin. The ICC said Russia's aim was "permanently removing these children from their own country." Bogdan Yermokhin was transferred first to the city of Donetsk in Russian-occupied Ukraine and later to a youth summer camp in the Moscow region with a group of 30 Ukrainian children, including one boy fostered by the children's rights commissioner herself. The teenager was eventually put in the care of a local foster family and given Russian documents. He entered a college in Russia to continue his studies and Ms Lvova-Belova also claimed that he worked in summer camp aiming to "integrate" teenagers from Russian-occupied Ukraine.
Russia is losing population and the standard of living outside a few of the larger cities is plummeting. Kidnapping kids from Ukraine is one of the few options the Putin dictatorship has to slow down population implosion.
Ms Rudnitskaya argued that he was not at risk of being sent to fight in Ukraine. "He is a student," she said, adding that "new recruits do not take part in the Special Military Operation" - using Russia's official term for its full-scale war. Maria Lvova-Belova agreed, accusing the media of "hype". Russian authorities have frequently insisted that new recruits are not sent to the front line, but the BBC has established on multiple occasions that this has in fact happened.
Yep, it's been documented that not all of the members of Putin's dismal army in Ukraine are exactly "volunteers".
In April 2023, Maria Lvova-Belova announced at a news conference that Bogdan Yermokhin had tried to return to Ukraine on his own. She said that Russian border guards had managed to stop him. "We caught him on the border with Belarus," she announced. "We managed to stop him at the last minute."
Of course. Why on earth would anybody want to remain in Russia?
After a lot of bad publicity, indicted war criminal Maria Lvova-Belova is attempting to revise the narrative on Bogdan.
In her latest remarks on social media on Friday, the children's commissioner was adamant that up until October he had wanted to stay in Russia, and that Russian authorities had done nothing against his will. "Now Bogdan's opinion on where he would like to live has changed and he plans to return to Ukraine." Before his earlier failed attempt to leave Russia in March, at least one other Ukrainian teenager from Mariupol placed in a Russian foster family succeeded in returning to Ukraine. Ukraine's human rights ombudsman, Dmitry Lubinets, said the boy, who he named Serhiy, had sought help online from Ukrainian chat bots in December 2022. Bogdan Yermokhin was also active on social media, but he stopped posting under his name in March, at around the time of his attempt to leave Russia. [ ... ]
Bogdan's Russian foster family and his former Ukrainian guardians have confirmed to the BBC that Russian authorities now consider him a Russian citizen, so he would have been obliged to serve in the army under Russian law. But under international law issuing documents in occupied territories is illegal and Ukraine condemns the practice. This became one of the grounds for the ICC's arrest warrant for Maria Lvova-Belova. As far as Ukraine and the rest of the international community is concerned, Bogdan Yermokhin remains a Ukrainian citizen, and the Russian military summons is illegal. The Russian children's commissioner denies authorities have engaged in any illegal activity and Moscow rejected claims it impedes the return of minors to Ukraine. However, its authorities insist only mothers or other close relatives can make their way to Russia in person to take their children back to Ukraine.
Hopefully Bogdan will be back home in Ukraine before long where he can recover from his ordeal in Russia.

In 2021, the website Angi, which helps homeowners find services, surveyed 2,400 contractors across different trades. Half reported that they couldn’t fill open positions, and 68 percent said it was a struggle to hire skilled workers. In a recent survey of 661 building contractors by the Associated General Contractors of America, 72 percent reported having open, salaried positions. The number one reason for all the openings: “Available candidates are not qualified to work in the industry.”
In the past, Reyes recruited workers out of high school and trained them up. But he’s reluctant to do it again. It costs his technicians time, it costs him money, and there’s no guarantee that the people he invests in will stick around because the job market is so competitive.
The workforce is also aging. Reyes said he knows of a few electricians getting ready for retirement who would like to hand over the business to their kids, but they just aren’t interested.  The way he sees it, younger people are getting lured into the tech industry with the promise of big salaries and just aren’t as interested in getting dirty underneath houses.

Russia’s military is recruiting children and teens in occupied territories of Ukraine into its Young Army program. This seeks to brainwash, militarize, and even force them into contributing to the Russian war effort against their own country, according to non-governmental organizations monitoring the group’s activities.
Through social media posts and sources on the ground in occupied regions, the NGOs have tracked the formation of the militarized children’s program, which they fear is intended to instill pro-war rhetoric into the minds of Russia’s youngest victims, and strip them of their Ukrainian identity. The NGOs believe that the invading country is preparing Ukrainian children in occupied areas for a future career in the Kremlin’s military, bringing an initiative that began seven years ago to the frontlines of the war.
Evidence gathered by Ukrainian groups suggests that the children are pressured to join the Young Army, where they are taught effectively to become Russians. Preparations are already underway to design programs to decondition these Ukrainian kids if the military is ever able to recapture the occupied territories from Russian control.
The Young Army’s Beginning
Formed in 2016 by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Young Army is a militarized organization to prepare children for careers in state and military apparatus. Over the last seven years, the Young Army has expanded throughout the Russian Federation and the regions of Ukraine it has occupied since 2014—Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea.
Through an immersive program that includes sleepaway camps, military combat training sessions, and annual competitions, the Young Army has created a generation of children and teenagers willing to risk their lives to defend their motherland. The Young Army has created centers for after-school activities, where children could meet with friends in one location, play games, and at the same time be fed governmental propaganda through interactive games and lessons. Activities mentioned in a 2021 magazine created by the Young Army include teenage girls competing in rowboat sports on a lake and homeland defense training where teenage soldiers participate in paratrooper drills. There are also photos of boys of around 8 years old holding puppies up to their chests and smiling for the camera.
“Before the invasion, the main purpose they wrote on their website is that it is patriotic education,” Crimea SOS co-coordinator Sabina Iliasov told The Daily Beast.“They talked about family, values, patriotism, what does it mean to be a patriotic citizen of your country, what are the good human features that you need to defend your country—this value that Russia and previously the Soviet Union stand for.”
No Way Out
The narrative of the Young Army changed after Russia invaded Ukraine. For the last 18 months, the group has focused on praising Russia’s Feb. 24, 2022, invasion and claims that the country is “de-Nazifying” Ukraine. According to Iliasov, the message of the Young Army shifted and Ukraine turned into Russia’s number one enemy.
“They started to compare World War II and the special military operation, saying, ‘You see, Ukraine is our enemy,’” Iliasov said.
“In that way, they try to impose that Russian identity, ideas of enemies, and good Russian policy against almost the whole world. That Ukraine is the first enemy, and other countries, the European countries and especially the U.S., all of them are enemies,” she added.
As the war has continued, Crimea SOS has been in contact with sources who have stayed in the peninsula and helped them collect information on the Young Army. They paint a picture for the NGO that is more grim than originally thought, with entire families being drawn into supporting the war, and Young Army members and their parents creating supply boxes for Russian soldiers fighting on the frontlines.
Supplies for the invaders are collected in occupied areas like the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and Crimea, and include much-needed supplies for the winter like warm clothes, hygiene products, and medicines, as well as juice boxes as a treat. In a post on Telegram, the Russian-backed “Kherson News” channel wrote that the humanitarian aid boxes are collected from the distribution sites and “Delivered by young soldiers and distributed to Russian servicemen in cooperation with their Kherson comrades.”
The boxes also included letters of support from Young Army children to Russian soldiers, what the Telegram channel adds is “according to the military, there is no greater support than children’s belief in victory over the common enemy.”
Many of these children are Ukrainians.
The Young Army boasts that it has attracted over 1 million children into its 89 centers and that thousands of members live in Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, a number that Iliasov believes includes some who were forced to join the Young Army.
“In Crimea, they create conditions that you are forced to, you have to, it is not a threat, but if your child is not in the Young Army, the attitude towards your child is different from the others,” said Iliasov.
“If you don’t support Russian occupation authority statements, you’re under threat. There were some cases where children made statements like “Slava Ukraini” (Glory to Ukraine) at school. For children, it’s just for fun, but their parents were asked to come to school and asked why your child would say that,” she added.
Whereas children in Russia apply to be part of the Young Army, Vladyslav Havrylov, researcher and scientific writer for Where Are Our People, told The Daily Beast that he, too, believes Ukrainian children are not given a choice.
“It’s part of Russian propaganda when in Russia you have some chance to apply or to not apply, but if you are a Ukrainian child in occupied territory of Ukraine, you have no choice,” said Havrylov.
“They try to re-educate, and they try to clean the Ukrainian identity of children in occupied territories, and they try to put Russian ideology to them, and it’s a main problem of this process.”
“For now, there’s not a lot of children from new occupied areas participating in this movement, but unfortunately, it is very strong, and we understand that more and more children eventually will be joining this movement,” he added.
Life in Occupied Regions
In November 2022, Kherson, a southern Ukrainian city that had been under Russian occupation since the beginning of the war, was liberated. But although parts of the wider district were freed, others have remained under Russian occupation. The NGO Almenda first discovered that the Young Army had opened a branch in Kherson in November 2022, and on Dec. 29, 2022, the Young Army’s Kherson branch launched its Telegram channel.
Since its formation, the Telegram channel has been flooded with information on the activities of the Young Army in Kherson. Some posts simply show children attending concerts by Russian musicians, but one post shows something darker: five Ukrainian teenagers standing in an open field with Russian soldiers who are showing them how to fire a gun.
The text underneath the post read, “The guys were given instructions on safety precautions, the structure of a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and each one was given cartridges to practice the skill of loading a magazine. After training, they were allowed to practice shooting with single shots and bursts from AKM and RPK at targets at the training ground.”
Almenda also discovered a Telegram channel that claims to belong to the Young Army’s Zaporizhzhia base. The channel was formed two months ago after an “open voting” system approved the council leadership of the regional branch, according to the Telegram channel. Among the activities listed in the channel are images of teenagers loading guns, shooting at targets, and putting on gas masks and personal protection equipment.
Additionally, there are images of four teenagers dressed in military uniforms marching down a street, with two holding a red and green flag that represents the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region and dozens of others standing in line to prepare for the Young Army military sports games. The channel also claims to have held classes titled “Russia is my history, on the day of the Reunification of the Zaporizhzhia region,” where children dressed in the Young Army uniform—a red beret, matching shirt, and khaki pants—smiled for the camera as they learned about Russia’s history.
The evidence Almenda has discovered has led Mariia Sulialina, the head of the NGO, to believe that the Kremlin is seeking to erase the Ukrainian identity from children’s minds and lives and make them believe they are Russian.
“When you teach children how to shoot guns and say who the enemies are, this is a serious thing. The most concerning thing that we see is that they’re trying to create a generation of people who will identify themselves as Russian and will not consider Ukraine a separate nation at all,” she said.
Sulialina added that one of the most challenging aspects of Ukraine’s post-war world, should they win on the battlefield, will be the reintegration of the children who joined the Young Army and were taught to hate their own people.
“We are preparing programs that will help to re-integrate these children because this will not be only an issue of educational gaps which they have because they are now in different educational system and they don’t learn Ukrainian language, Ukrainian history, but this will also be a thing of fighting back propaganda,” said Sulialina.
“They [Russia] are changing the identity of the smallest ones, who are the most vulnerable to this kind of propaganda. They are victims of this system, they are victims of Russian propaganda, and they should not be seen as enemies, even if some of them were militarized and started believing in propaganda,” she added.

Rivusa Recs: FitzTragedy
I have to thank @fitztragedy for so much beauty and joy that has entered my life since March of 2021 when I peeked into the Rivusa tag on tumblr and found my fandom fam. Your birthday gift this year is a rec list of all my favorite of your works!
Val and I often have different tastes in genres, but she’s taught me that the stakes don’t have to be literal life and death to be interesting or dramatic or discerning. Val’s stories excel in the quiet moments, the dialogue, the intimacies; it’s chasing after your lover in the pouring rain, it’s waking up next to someone with a stunning realization, it’s your friends having your back while also encouraging you out of your comfort zone (sound familiar? Because of Val I flew halfway around the world to meet up with friends that I met because of Rivusa, because of Val).
Love you, Val! Without further ado, here are my faves:
✨Smoking Hot (collab with @gossipqueen2000) Word Count: 6k Tags: Rivusa, side Skloom, firefighter AU, humor Summary: “AFD! Open the door!” “AFD?” “…Fire department!” “….STRIPPERS!” Rec: I think the summary captures this delightful romp quite well. Mo and Val managed to craft the story of a drunken bachelorette party WITHOUT turning all the fairies into annoying caricatures of themselves. The party’s aftermath features the Specialists as firefighters, Riven and Sky up to single guy shenanigans, led by an increasingly wearied Saul wearied by their antics. This story is an instant pick-me-up.
✨An Innocent Trust Exercise Word Count: 11k Tags: Rivusa, forced proximity, smut Summary: In order to teach the fairies and Specialists to trust and learn from each other, Farah and Saul create a school-wide exercise: fairy & Specialist partners will be literally tied up for a week. Rec: Written in the beginnings of the FTWS fandom, this fic cemented for me how much Val doesn’t let ideas go once they’re in her head. Expect fun banter, steamy smut, and worldbuilding crack treated seriously. Val takes a great premise and totally delivers. Fave exchange:
“Can’t sleep with your face this close.”
“Too distracting?”
“I just don’t wanna have nightmares.”
✨The Most Powerful Mind Fairy in Alfea Word Count: 5k (WIP) Tags: Rivusa, pre-breakup Samusa, mind fairy stuff, S2 missing scene Summary: In Season 2, Ep 4, Rosalind calls Musa “the most powerful mind fairy here.” Missing scenes that slot into canon to explain Rosalind’s opinion. Rec: This rec is a bit personal; S2 left me reeling with where a lot of characters ended up and I had a hard time feeling creative about it, but then Val swept in and dropped this fic shortly after the premiere. I love how dark Val took this one, not shying away from Rosalind using torture to weed out the students she wanted to groom. Read for a great way to fill in the gaps S2 left us with.

2021 - the situation in verdansk worsens. price keeps busy while hound undergoes intense physical therapy. they insist on helping sort through paperwork and translating intel after laswell suggests that an honorable discharge might be their best option.
2022 - hound is recovering after complications from a second surgery when general ghorbrani is assassinated and task force 141 is assigned to track down hassan zyani and several missing american bombs. they provide backup on comms as needed, filling in where laswell asks. not long after shadow company’s betrayal and the recovery of the stolen missiles in chicago, the 141 shifts its focus to makarov. hound is cleared for active duty and accompanies price on a black op in moscow. they interrogate one of makarov’s men. they plan to stage an ‘accident’, but when he threatens hound price shoots him point-blank. he and hound confess their feelings and sleep together for the first time. that christmas hound brings price home to their granddad, and soon after they convince him to get a flat together in kildare.
2023 - price is captured by makarov’s men after a mission goes sideways. hound and the rest of the 141 track him relentlessly, leading to his rescue from a not-so-abandoned gulag deep in the russian wilderness. hound tells price that they love him for the first time in the hospital afterwards. he doesn’t say it back until months later on a beautiful sunny day in a london park over leave, but they’ve both known all along.
2024 - price asks gaz to accompany him engagement ring shopping in london. after hours of searching they finally find the right one, and price proposes to hound just a few months later. gaz is asked to be the best man.
2025 - hound and price are married. they have a wonderful ceremony held in the church price grew up going to, though he’ll admit he never found much religion there until he saw hound walking towards him in white.

EXCLUSIVE: Young K sends ‘Letters with notes’ to fans in joyous return; talks about evolving as a musician, upcoming DAY6 anniversary
By Monica Yadav
“This time can’t be stopped / When the season changes / where no regrets are left / this time is aflame / followed by blooming spring / remember this time / never let it fade away / for all my life / let it be summer,” – croons singer-songwriter Young K in his pre-release track ‘Let It Be Summer’ from his full-length album Letters With Notes. As the 29-year-old multi-hyphenated musician is back from his two-year hiatus (as he was serving in the military), he compares his life to the changing seasons while expressing the desire to maintain youthful enthusiasm. The melodic pop-punk track definitely enhances the vocals of the gifted singer, who was missed from the music scene for the past two years. Over the past 8 years, Young K, birth name Kang Young Hyun, has about 160 songs copyrighted under his name. He has been the bassist, lead vocalist, and rapper in DAY6 and continues to excel as a versatile singer. He is easily one of the most valuable musicians of our time who often dabbles in different genres including rock, pop-rock, and alternative rock. Returning to the music scene after two years with Letters with notes, the 11-track album, which he was heavily involved in from scratch, sees him play with a lot of nostalgia. While ‘dreamer’ has influences of ‘60s rock-n-roll, ‘babo’ has elements of ‘60s rock with the groove of R&B; ‘waited’ has that ‘90s melodic modern rock rhythm, ‘playground’ infuses the elements of ‘60s Motown funk and rhythm and blues. He ended the song ‘Guard You’ from his 2021 album Eternal with ‘I’ll Hold You Until The End’ and begins with the same lyric in ‘nothing but’, the title track of his new album where he is unable to let go of the love. It is poetic how he uses a metaphor for the world ending in the first track whereas in his latest track, uses the same line as his world is collapsing. There is a reason Young K is called a gifted musician. He plays around with sounds and easily makes you go through varied emotions. This album takes you on a journey of different phases of love, which comes in any form, and the beauty and intricacies of it. Discharged from his military service in April 2023, Young K became the first Korean idol to join the Korean Augmentation to the United States Army (KATUSA). It is the branch of military service that requires applicants with fluency in English to a high degree and only recruits about 2,000 men every year. Between April and August, he had four months to prepare and complete the album. Addressing his fans over the three-day concert held at Kwangwoon University’s Donghae Culture and Arts Center in Nowon-gu, Seoul between September 1-3, Young K said, as per Korea Herald, “The opening to today’s set list is also the first track in my new album. While working on this song, I imagined the moment I finally stepped on stage to meet you. The first words that came to my mind were, ‘I’m nervous,’ and that’s how I started the lyrics. Then I wanted to ask if you’ve been well and eaten well. I’m so happy to be performing in front of you.” Before enlisting, Young K exclusively told Bollywood Hungama in 2021, “I learned to love more. The love My Days have shown made me think about it a lot and since I write and sing about it, I guess it was one of the biggest issues and concepts I tried to know more about. I can't say I know what love exactly is, but I did learn how to give more.” Now, as he returned, we spoke to him again and this time. He had a lot more to share about his craft and his creative process of making Letters with notes.
First and foremost Young K, welcome back. The music scene has missed you and your soothing vocals. How much have you missed releasing music for your audience?
Young K: First of all, thank you for the kind words. It's been a while, so I've waited for this moment quite a lot. As an artist, I thought it'd be important to come back with an album as soon as possible, so here it is.
Congratulations on the Letters with notes. One of the teasers said ‘6 sides of Young K’ and mentioned Hexagon. Symbolically, the hexagon also stands for harmony and balance. After your return from the military, what significance does this album hold for you and why was this an apt album title?
Young K: 'Letters With Notes' can mean the lyrics, which are literally letters that has notes. The sum of those letters turns into a song, which is an individual letter sent to the world. 11 letters all combined, the album itself became 'Letters With Notes'.
A full-length album is truly a heavy work. When did you begin to put together 11 tracks? Which was the first track and last track you worked on?
Young K: All of the recordings began after I was discharged, but I had been having ideas beforehand. So it's really hard to say when the exact album preparation began. All of the ideas were mixed up, so I don't really remember which one came first.
The pre-release pop-punk track ‘let it be summer’ truly narrates the youthful enthusiasm of life. Also, the song is so Young K, it’s great to see you back. Where do you draw the inspiration for a song like this one?
Young K: The track itself had a very powerful energy, so I wanted to narrate something that would match the vibe. I thought youth holds an explosion of feelings and emotions, so I tried comparing life to change of seasons, having summer as the most burning era.
There are 11 tracks on the album but you chose ‘nothing but’ as the main track. The blending of the '60s British sound with 80s American hard rock ballads is a truly unique way to approach the song. The song is about someone ‘unable to let go of love’. Tell me your approach regarding this track and how you decided on making it the title song.
Young K: Producer Jisang Hong and I were talking about how I tend to have a hard time letting go of things. And I guess this concept turned into a song. An example would be – sometimes me having a hard time leaving food behind even when there's no need to finish everything. After submitting all the demos, we went through a monitoring system to choose a title song. And ‘nothing but' was selected.
There are so many favourites on the album but one particular track that caught attention was ‘natural’ which signifies that you don’t have to be insecure in love. Am I right? What can you tell me about it?
Young K: The word 'natural' caught my attention for some reason, and I started thinking about what could be natural. Breathing, having a meal, the flow of time and such came to my mind. It added on to how it's natural to love, so there's no need to worry.
This album feels so personal in terms of how you go about the storytelling. When you work on an album on this scale where you have so many songs to create, what is the progression like? Is it exciting or does it get stressful?
Young K: It's always exciting and stressful at the same time. To make sure it's made at a good quality, even when it seems like it's over I feel like there has to be a point where you go through it. So I always check whether it's good to be presented or not. I'm not a perfectionist, but it's the least I can do.
Thematically, the album seems to be about different stages. What is it about “love” that excites and do you think you were able to showcase it through this full-length album?
Young K: "Love" can be in countless different forms. Love for your family, love for My Days(fans), love towards music, etc. Without love in our lives, I feel like it'd be very difficult to go on.
Are you someone deeply romantic? Is this why the majority of themes of your music reflect that emotion?
Young K: I consider myself a storyteller as I'm writing, and I guess I wish to talk about various stories from many different views. In music, I don't think I want to define that storyteller as someone in a certain way. So yes, sometimes romantic, sometimes maybe not.
Are you someone who is hyper-focused during the process of album making or someone who enjoys a good balance between work and life?
Young K: I would prefer a good balance of work and life. I don't feel like I need to be intensely focused on album-making only for a period of time, but when I am at the session, I am focused.
What do you enjoy more – songwriting or producing? Are there any times when you feel words aren’t flowing how you wanted? In those times, where do you seek inspiration from?
Young K: Whenever I get a writer's block, I take a break. Short or long. I try to refresh my mind and look around. If nothing found, I try to let my mind take me anywhere to come up with something that's adequate for the music. That's also why in my everyday life I let myself be open to all the ideas that come to me. For now, I consider myself a singer and a performer most importantly. And the rest, I'm good with anything.
The fans are so happy to see you back doing radio. That gives so much joy to everyone but also showcases your relaxed side. Are you elated to be back? Do you enjoy being on the radio?
Young K: Radio lets me look into bits of many lives. I get to communicate with lots of new people and think from different perspectives. For example, a kid says she really doesn't want to go to school. The next person says she also doesn't want to go to school, but this time, it’s coming from a teacher. Another merit would be me being able to send my voice to My Days and my parents every day. How can I not be elated?
DAY6 will complete 8 years on September 7, a day prior to my birthday, which I am always pumped about. Interestingly, the album drops in the same month. Is this month special to you? Have you ever sat back and wondered about your musical journey over the years?
Young K: Happy Birthday! From time to time I tend to look back on what I've done. I realize what I've done good, and what I’ve lacked. I learn from the mistakes and grow. The more I get to know, the more I see. Never perfected it, but it was the best that I could do.
I have often wondered if you ever had a chance to watch any content from India or heard any of the artists. If yes, what or who are they?
Young K: I'm still not quite familiar with artists from India, but I'm willing to know more! Please give me recommendations!
The last time you left a message for Indian fans of DAY6, they were extremely delighted and also praying for your safe return. Is there a message you want to leave for fans on this comeback?
Young K: I gotta say thank you for all the support. The only thing I wish for you guys is to stay healthy and happy. Hope I get a chance to visit you guys too!

WASHINGTON (AP) — With more than a year to go before the 2024 election, a constellation of conservative organizations is preparing for a possible second White House term for Donald Trump, recruiting thousands of Americans to come to Washington on a mission to dismantle the federal government and replace it with a vision closer to his own.
Led by the long-established Heritage Foundation think tank and fueled by former Trump administration officials, the far-reaching effort is essentially a government-in-waiting for the former president’s return — or any candidate who aligns with their ideals and can defeat President Joe Biden in 2024.
With a nearly 1,000-page “Project 2025” handbook and an “army” of Americans, the idea is to have the civic infrastructure in place on Day One to commandeer, reshape and do away with what Republicans deride as the “deep state” bureaucracy, in part by firing as many as 50,000 federal workers.
“We need to flood the zone with conservatives,” said Paul Dans, director of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project and a former Trump administration official who speaks with historical flourish about the undertaking.
“This is a clarion call to come to Washington,” he said. “People need to lay down their tools, and step aside from their professional life and say, ‘This is my lifetime moment to serve.’”
The unprecedented effort is being orchestrated with dozens of right-flank organizations, many new to Washington, and represents a changed approach from conservatives, who traditionally have sought to limit the federal government by cutting federal taxes and slashing federal spending.

FILE - Former President Donald Trump speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference, CPAC 2023, March 4, 2023, at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon, File)
The goal is to avoid the pitfalls of Trump’s first years in office, when the Republican president’s team was ill-prepared, his Cabinet nominees had trouble winning Senate confirmation and policies were met with resistance — by lawmakers, government workers and even Trump’s own appointees who refused to bend or break protocol, or in some cases violate laws, to achieve his goals.
While many of the Project 2025 proposals are inspired by Trump, they are being echoed by GOP rivals Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy and are gaining prominence among other Republicans.
And if Trump wins a second term, the work from the Heritage coalition ensures the president will have the personnel to carry forward his unfinished White House business.
“The president Day One will be a wrecking ball for the administrative state,” said Russ Vought, a former Trump administration official involved in the effort who is now president at the conservative Center for Renewing America.
Much of the new president’s agenda would be accomplished by reinstating what’s called Schedule F — a Trump-era executive order that would reclassify tens of thousands of the 2 million federal employees as essentially at-will workers who could more easily be fired.
Biden had rescinded the executive order upon taking office in 2021, but Trump — and other presidential hopefuls — now vow to reinstate it.
“It frightens me,” said Mary Guy, a professor of public administration at the University of Colorado Denver, who warns the idea would bring a return to a political spoils system.
Experts argue Schedule F would create chaos in the civil service, which was overhauled during President Jimmy Carter’s administration in an attempt to ensure a professional workforce and end political bias dating from 19th century patronage.
As it now stands, just 4,000 members of the federal workforce are considered political appointees who typically change with each administration. But Schedule F could put tens of thousands of career professional jobs at risk.
“We have a democracy that is at risk of suicide. Schedule F is just one more bullet in the gun,” Guy said.
The ideas contained in Heritage’s coffee table-ready book are both ambitious and parochial, a mix of longstanding conservative policies and stark, head-turning proposals that gained prominence in the Trump era.
There’s a “top to bottom overhaul” of the Department of Justice, particularly curbing its independence and ending FBI efforts to combat the spread of misinformation. It calls for stepped-up prosecution of anyone providing or distributing abortion pills by mail.
There are proposals to have the Pentagon “abolish” its recent diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, what the project calls the “woke” agenda, and reinstate service members discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.
Chapter by chapter, the pages offer a how-to manual for the next president, similar to one Heritage produced 50 years ago, ahead of the Ronald Reagan administration. Authored by some of today’s most prominent thinkers in the conservative movement, it’s often sprinkled with apocalyptic language.
A chapter written by Trump’s former acting deputy secretary of Homeland Security calls for bolstering the number of political appointees, and redeploying office personnel with law enforcement ability into the field “to maximize law enforcement capacity.”
At the White House, the book suggests the new administration should “reexamine” the tradition of providing work space for the press corps and ensure the White House counsel is “deeply committed” to the president’s agenda.
Conservatives have long held a grim view of federal government offices, complaining they are stacked with liberals intent on halting Republican agendas.
But Doreen Greenwald, national president of the National Treasury Employees Union, said most federal workers live in the states and are your neighbors, family and friends. “Federal employees are not the enemy,” she said.
While presidents typically rely on Congress to put policies into place, the Heritage project leans into what legal scholars refer to as a unitary view of executive power that suggests the president has broad authority to act alone.
To push past senators who try to block presidential Cabinet nominees, Project 2025 proposes installing top allies in acting administrative roles, as was done during the Trump administration to bypass the Senate confirmation process.
John McEntee, another former Trump official advising the effort, said the next administration can “play hardball a little more than we did with Congress.”
In fact, Congress would see its role diminished — for example, with a proposal to eliminate congressional notification on certain foreign arms sales.
Philip Wallach, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute who studies the separation of powers and was not part of the Heritage project, said there’s a certain amount of “fantasizing” about the president’s capabilities.
“Some of these visions, they do start to just bleed into some kind of authoritarian fantasies where the president won the election, so he’s in charge, so everyone has to do what he says — and that’s just not the system the government we live under,” he said.
At the Heritage office, Dans has a faded photo on his wall of an earlier era in Washington, with the White House situated almost alone in the city, dirt streets in all directions.
It’s an image of what conservatives have long desired, a smaller federal government.
The Heritage coalition is taking its recruitment efforts on the road, crisscrossing America to fill the federal jobs. They staffed the Iowa State Fair this month and signed up hundreds of people, and they’re building out a database of potential employees, inviting them to be trained in government operations.
“It’s counterintuitive,” Dans acknowledged — the idea of joining government to shrink it — but he said that’s the lesson learned from the Trump days about what’s needed to “regain control.”

[view from the cockpit of a Russian Mi-35 Helicopter which fires S-8 missiles in standoff fashion]
🇷🇺🇺🇦 🚨 UPDATE ON THE RUSSO-UKRAINIAN WAR DAY 623
Mobilization update:
Ukrainian draft moves towards the mobilization of women. According to Russian and Ukrainian sources, the need for Ukraine to replenish its ranks of soldiers has forced Kiev to look towards women to reconstitute its army. Kiev called the move "a step towards equality" while admitting the decision was made out of necessity from massive losses in this summer's Ukrainian Offensive, while at the same time the number of draft dodgers has increased enormously.
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, approximately 43'000 women currently serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a 40% increase over 2021. Prior restrictions on the roles women can play in the Ukrainian military, such as restrictions on serving as machine gunners, tank commanders and military truck drivers have been lifted while the age limits for female recruits have been lifted from 40 to 60 years of age.
The new goal will be to reach 90'000 female recruits to serve in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It should be kept in mind that at the very least, Ukraine has lost close to 300'000 male soldiers since the beginning of the Special Military Operation in February, 2022.
In the Odessa direction:
Using the type-31 missile, Russian Forces launched a significant strike on a ship in port in Odessa, doing considerable damage to the targeted ship.
In the Kherson direction:
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian Forces lost 30 soldiers, 4 armored vehicles and 3 artillery systems in the Kherson area.
I would consider this number low for the situation in Kherson, where heavy fighting, bombing and shelling continue along the Ukrainians footholds on the left bank of Dnieper.
Russian Forces may have thought this would be an effective grinding operation once the footholds were taken, however, Ukrainian Forces have managed to dig in and expand their zone of control around Krynky in recent days.
In the village of Kozatske, Russian Forces were bombing Ukrainian fortified positions on the right bank of the Dnieper, attempting to hit the Ukrainian staging grounds for further operations across the river.
Russian Forces were also bombing the left bank of Dnieper across from Tiahynka after a Ukrainian landing operation of some sort across the river in this area but the details are unclear.
According to Russian sources, up to 3 Ukrainian missiles in the Kherson area and 5 aircraft over the entirety of Ukraine were shot down by Russian Forces over the last 24-hours.
According to the sources, Russian Forces shot down an SU-27, two MiG-29, and two SU-25 Ukrainian aircraft, with at least some of the aircraft having been shot down over the Kherson region as well.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction:
According to Russian MoD, Ukrainian Forces lost 80 soldiers, 15 armored vehicles and two artillery systems.
Ukrainian Forces continued offensive operations in the vicinity of western Robotyne where Ukrainians troops have been trying to expand their zone of control using small units of one or two armored vehicles and a couple dozens soldiers to penetrate the trench networks and fortifications of Russian Forces on the western outskirts of the town.
Russian Forces heavily relied on FPV drone strikes to knock out the armored vehicles and tanks in the latest wave of Ukrainian assaults, with video evidence showing two strikes geolocated to Western outskirts of Robotyne, and third on its southwestern corner.
However, the video evidence does show that areas that had previously been under Russian control are now held by Ukrainian Forces, so some forward progress has been achieved at considerable cost.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Forces were targeting Russian soldiers in their forward positions on the northern outskirts of Novopokrovka using FPV drones, showing no progress in this direction by Ukrainian Forces south of Robotyne.Russian Forces continue bombing and shelling Ukrainian positions on the western outskirts of Verbove with no changes in territory in this area.
In the South Donetsk direction:
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian Forces lost 145 soldiers in the Southern Donetsk region, along with 9 armored vehicles and 3 artillery pieces.
Video released by Russian sources showed the successful targeting of a Ukrainian GRAD MLRS that was being used to strike high priority targets from the vacinity of Yelyzavetivka. The GRAD MLRS was destroyed in a targeted Lancet strike.
In the Vuhledar direction:
Russian ground operations continue in the direction of Vodiane, while Russian Forces continue heavily shelling Ukrainian positions in the fields north of Mykilske as part of operations pushing to the northwest towards Vuhledar with the aim of cutting the logistical supply road of the T05-24 highway.
In the Avdiivka direction:
Russian Forces were depending heavily on FPV and Lancet drones targeting Ukrainian arrivals in the fields and trench networks to the west of Avdiivka, with video evidence showing Russian Forces knocking out a Ukrainian armored personnel carrier filled with soldiers the moment it landed to unload its troops.
These latest generation of Lancet drones are capable of picking targets out and striking enemy positions without an operator.
The lifespan of soldiers in the trench networks around Avdiivka seems very short indeed, but especially so for Ukrainian Forces, as getting strategic reserves and proper equipment and munitions to Ukrainian positions in and around Avdiivka has been next to impossible since Russian Forces launched their latest operations in the area and drove deep into the Ukrainian flanks here. Russian Forces have established fire control or partial fire control over key resupply routes to the city coming from Stepove, Lastochkyne, Orlivka and Tonenke.
In the north of Avdiivka, Russian Forces continue making progress along the rail lines west of Kransohorivka and have expanded the grayzone right up to outskirts of Stepove. However, there is no evidence Russian Forces have made any serious attempts at assaulting the village.
Russian Forces are also filling out the territory under their control in the fields east of the railways and west of Kransohorivka.
Two videos published by Russian Forces also evidenced further deployment of next generation Lancets, striking armored vehicles belonging to the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine somewhere in the Ukrainian positions west of Russian-held territory in Kransohorivka and Novobakhmutovka, likely striking the supporting forces for the Ukrainian frontline positions.
In the Artemovsk direction:
According to the Russian MoD, as a result of fighting in the northern Donetsk region, Ukrainian Forces lost 235 soldiers and 7 armored vehicles.
In the northern Artemovsk area, Russian Forces expanded their zone of control over the fields south of the Berkhivka Reservoir and advancing along the rail lines towards Chasiv Yar.
Russian Forces, using an MLRS system were heavily bombing Ukrainian supporting forces for the Bohdanivka area, preventing proper reserves from entering the fight.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Forces redeployed an unknown number of soldiers from the Andriivka offensive to defend the area east of Bohdanivka where Russian Forces are advancing.
To the southwest of Artemovsk, Russian Forces have launched operations keeping pressure on Ukrainians Forces in Klischiivka and eventually forcing them to retreat from some positions on the northeastern outskirts of the village. However, no evidence has emerged for the progress being made here.
In the Kupiansk direction:
Russian Forces have redeployed the 11th Wagner Battalion Tactical Group to the area near the Dibrova-Kreminna salient.
Russian Forces were using de-mining rockets in the fields south of Dibrova in preparations for further offensive operations in this area.
No territorial changes in the Lyman sector. In the Kupiansk area, according to the Russian MoD, Ukrainian Forces lost 30 soldiers as a result of positional fighting in this region.
Ukrainian Forces continued using FPV drones in the vacinity of Yahidne to target Russian armored vehicles, with video evidence showing examples of this but few examples of Ukrainian missile and artillery usage.

There is something I want to address today that I have been sitting on for a while. I have allowed myself time to observe and digest the growing debate surrounding BTS and their possible exemption from their mandatory military service before speaking on it. Although this is a very sensitive subject, I wanted to share my thoughts on the issue not just as K-ARMY, but as a Korean in general. I know that many I-ARMY wish for BTS to be exempt from the military, solely based on the basis of the opinion that “they deserve it,” but it’s not that simple. When considering the duty of mandatory military service, one must keep in mind what it truly means to Korea to serve. It has been considered almost a right of passage to manhood for Korean men, as well as a reminder of pride in country, and all that is still at stake for the nation. It may not seem like it, but the two Koreas are still at war, as no peace treaty was ever signed. It should come as no surprise that the South wants to be prepared, because as we’ve seen with the war in Ukraine, anything can happen in the blink of an eye.
The national debate on mandatory military service and exemptions has been going on for decades, and the word “sensitive” is an understatement to the enormity of it all. Since the Alternative Military Act was first established for artists, athletes, and industry experts in order to promote national prestige and cultural development in 1973, Koreans have been divided on the fairness of alternative service. It has been a hot button issue in recent times due to the low birth rate in Korea, resulting in low numbers of soldiers. To make matters worse, the men who once would have been exempted for poor health are now forced to enlist. To top it all off, the persisting poor treatment and pay for enlisted soldiers has compounded the dissension.
Right now, BTS is at the forefront of the debate. As unfortunate as it is that BTS has to be surrounded by such controversy, it has forced the government to really heed the concerns of the nation and its continued conscription of the country’s men. To better explain the debate, it’s best to first understand the history of exemptions, and how BTS may be the catalyst for yet another change in the law. About two weeks ago, I read an in depth article that puts this into perspective. I will share the article, since I believe it would be insightful into understanding why exemptions exist, how it’s determined, and why BTS is being considered.
The debate surrounding the possible exemption of BTS took off in 2018, but it boiled over last month. As many know, the Communications Chief of HYBE had made some controversial statements that rubbed the public the wrong way. K-ARMY were upset with the CCO for seemingly putting Jin and the rest of BTS on the chopping block for the media to tear into, whereas many of the public were left with conflicting opinions on the matter and how it was being handled by BTS, HYBE, and the government. Since then, other public figures have added to the voices on either side of the isle. I will share a link that focuses on the current state of the debate, and how it has led to the military service system to be revisited and discussed.
What’s important to note is what significant changes are being discussed due to the growing debate, that of which could have a lasting positive effect on Korea. I’ve seen mentions of establishing a recruitment system, open to both men and women, that pays a respectable salary. This in turn could provide many job opportunities within the military for countless young people, who are struggling as a result of the highly competitive job market. I’ve seen it referred to as the “4th Industrial Revolution” of Korea.
Although I cannot speak for everyone, I believe that whatever conclusion is reached concerning BTS, it must be respected. However, I really do hope that the debate ends well, in favor of the betterment of the nation, not just for BTS. Only time will tell.
