like here’s the thing, right. when a work like TDP has a variety of races in it, you’re bound to have some fave characters who are white and some who are not. in my past fandoms my fave characters were a dark skinned black man, a dark skinned black woman, and a disabled, mentally ill asian man. if i didn’t have that background in writing subversive fic centred on their experiences, and seeing how their fandoms treated them with varying degrees of racism, stereotypes, and ableism - yeah, i may question my fave being the one (1) white girl amid a main trio of 2/3 boys of colour.

however

representation wise the odds are stacked that you will have more ‘white faves’ than non white faves. certain archetypes also tend to be based more in race than others

however

if you only ever love white characters, and hate the characters of colour that are canonically important or involved in their lives (harrow with viren; terry and callum with claudia; callum and ezran for rayla, etc) i will and am absolutely side eyeing you so hard & sincerely hope you do some major self reflection

Just from a design standpoint, it's very disappointing that all the folks with bright, light color schemes (Yang, Weiss, Sun, etc) are also light skinned when it would be best to make them dark skinned - Sun and Yang especially given how little representation dark skinned Asians have

By doing this, Yang would finally be free of those awful brown slops of outfits while Sun and Weiss would stop disappearing into their white clothes because ☆~contrast~☆ would finally exist

Forgive me for my dumb question, but if loki can shapeshift to any physical sex he wants, doesn't that makes him kinda intersex?

Intersex refers to naturally having unusual or mixed sex characteristics. It often is coopted to mean anything outside the ordinary genitals/in fics can jump straight to having both sides functioning.

Being a shapeshifter switching between female and male wouldn’t make him intersex. (And I feel being able to shapeshift into anything is a bit different to if someone is born intersex? In that way you could argue Loki is physically anything.)

#it’s different if Asgardians/Jotnar follow the sex binary and he was born intersex #and you could argue he could shapeshift intersex #but the regular lad Loki lady Loki switch up doesn’t make him intersex #and it’s a bit odd to use the term if it’s a typical physical presentation for his race #I think #there’s a distinction between being born intersex and being a shapeshifter I think #you could make Loki both but I wouldn’t say he’s intersex by default for being a shapeshifter #cue the meme where it’s like. would X still be popular if he was a black man.
