Ossan's love returns episode 1

alright. ossan's love has returned. time to watch and comment on this mess (derogatory & affectionate.)

for background: ossan's love was the first gay romcom to be aired on japanese mainstream tv, becoming an unexpected hit. it's wacky, it's stupid, it's chaotic, it's ridiculous, but it's also surprisingly heartfelt and did a lot for queer representation. if you can't handle ossan's love at its most chaotic (derogatory) you don't deserve it at its most chaotic (affectionate). i kinda love this show, but i kinda wouldn't recommend it to anyone haha. and now it has returned, with the original cast.

with that, let's proceed!

we start with a brawl at a gay wedding. sasuga desu.

thank god it was a dream. but unfortunately it was haruta's hatsuyume/first dream of the year and those dreams are said to predict the upcoming year lol.

verdict: genuinely loved it! the jokes are funny, the housekeeper situation is weird as hell but kinda brilliant. i like that maki & haruta are facing the same everyday problems many couples face with work, stress, time management etc. it seems to be gaga for those of you who don't speak japanese (i haven't seen the subs so i can't comment on them), but i don't know how well the humour translates if you aren't familiar with japanaese language or this genre of comedy, so i recommend it with reservations. it's a completely new story so you don't need to have watched the first season necessarily.

I went to watch both events for the Gintama Ato no Matsuri!!

The afternoon event via live-viewing in the cinemas

The evening event inside the actual venue, Ryogoku Kokugikan~

IT WAS HONESTLY THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!

(2023 is also my 15th year as a Gintama fan so what better way to celebrate than attend the matsuri!!!!)

Hihi we used the penlights inside the live-viewing theater too.. hey most of the ppl in our row were using it too okayyy😂😂 It was so much fun!!!

ofc nothing beats the experience of watching it LIVE inside Ryogoku~🥹🥹

3Z Anime announced!!!! Everyone was like majiiiii????

They kindly asked us not to post any spoilers on social media until the evening event ends, so I kept mum about it XD

Upon arriving at the Ryogoku, my friends and I took pics of our matching Sonjuku ita-bags!! 🥹🥹 (Mine is the Takasugi one hehehe)

On to the event~ (A lot of screaming and crying XD)

I already knew most of what was gonna happen since I watched the afternoon event so I thought my hype would be dampened??? But the emotions just kept flowing!!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭 (Tho ngl I wished they unveiled the 3z anime in the night event instead... I was expecting another bomb to drop actually hahahah xD)

The atmosphere inside Ryogoku... everyone's so passionate!!! You could feel the love not only from the fans but also from the seiyuu and bands as well!!! Aaaa I love Gintama and it's fandommm 🥹🥹💞💞

Never watched One Piece but the hype inside the venue and Kitadani's energy was so high it made me sing along too, idk how I managed to do it cuz I barely know the song😂😂 they went all out with this even parodying the OP of One Piece and the seiyuu mimicking the strawhat pose😂

Then the 生アフレコ went a trip down the memory lane🥹🥹 Makes me wanna rewatch everything all over again 😭

I started getting emotional when ChicoHani started singing ヒカリ証明論 (Kiheitai tapos Bansai death scene talaga..mashaket po mga mamshie...😭)

And サクラ舞う暁に..it's my fave ChicoHani song okayyy Chico shouting Matsuri ja Matsuri jaaa🌸🌸🌸 So fun to sing along with the crowd!!! Almost everyone switched their lights to pink!! one brain cell~ XD

Their surprise was the Samurai Heart cover!!! 😭😭😭

ChicoHani's gntmと出会わせてくれた song, Pride Kakumei!!! When the Honeyworks guitarist shouted "saikou da saikou" waaaa the hype!!!!! Crowd went crazy!!

Otsu-chan so cute I didn't expect the fox at all (Gintama always subverts expectations so true even for events like these x3)

Toshi always up for anything riding the Thousand Sunny Sadaharu-Eli ship hahahah And Sakaguchi-san!!! 🥹🥹

Then 生アフレコ again~!! XDDD

Surprise was KUROKO's special appearance (with Suzuken as Murasakibara and Nakai-san as Imayoshi!! Chiba-san's side comment: なんかイチャイチャする 😂😂😂😂)

SuzuKen funny he said he could hear Kensho Ono from the Kuroko mascot hahahah

plus GINCHAAAN (for the evening event)

It was so adorable how Sakaguchi-san took a pic of Gin-san and Sugita on stage... He really loves Gintama, ne (The whole cast loves Gintama!! that alone makes it so special)

Sugita's side comment: he wants Oguri Shun to join too hahahaha

DOES so cool!! Everyone switched their lights to red when DOES started their set list~

It's also no secret that Wataru-san loves Gintama sm, he mentions it in his SNS accts frequently🥹🥹 ワタルさんかっこ良かった...有難う! Crowd shouting Wataruuuu Bravo!!! XD

The SPYAIR covers gosh 😭😭😭 I almost cried listening to the Wadachi cover 😭😭😭 (I did cry when I rewatched it through Abema haha 😭😭😭)

From the band's message in the end, it was apparent that SPYAIR really wanted to attend but alas they have no vocalist yet 😭😭😭

The highlight of the event for me was Yama-chan's surprise appearance 🥹🥹 LITERAL CHILLSSSSS I mean... THE KOICHI YAMADERA...

Apparently, Yama-chan never attended events like these and Ato Matsuri was the first one. That alone just made me.....🥹🥹🥹😭😭

is Gintama that special he agreed to make an appearance 🥹🥹😭😭

Or did Higuchi-san (producer) really splurge their budget on him ahahahah

We were joking that they must have spent most of the special guest budget on Yama-chan that's prolly why no other guests appeared 😂

And gosh that man has range.... I also learned that Yama-chan voiced Donald Duck from Kingdom Hearts..!!! That's why his animal and nature dubs (from the special Matsuri manga) are on point 😂😂😂😂

He can sing too (He sang JPN version of Prince Ali and Circle of Life) and had a duet with Hirano Aya (Nobume VA) for the Yakuza game 😭

Koyasu-san was a no-show as usual (I had high hopes since he attended the Isekai Oji-san seiyuu event at Anime Japan last year) He had a voice message tho, saying his ponpon was in pain (basically he had a stomachache) 😂😂

And then there's Sugita's closing message 😭😭😭

That even though gntm has ended 4 years ago, he hasn't forgotten about Gintama

That he'll be Sakata Gintoki until he dies..no, even if he dies 😭😭😭GURL I GOT SO EMOTIONAL!!!

Then he says "Chinko"!! how very Gintoki!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

And finally the Ginpachi-sensei anime which will be part of a series of projects for Gintama's 20th anniversary (which will last until 2026!!!) I am so excited 😭😭😭😭

I Might Be Okay But I'm Not Fine At All After The All Too Well Premiere

I've been listening to Red (Taylor's Version) all day everyday now. No shame of singing it anywhere even if my sister asks, "Pwede lain na sad ato iplay? Para breather ba." (Can we play something else? A breather [from always listening to Red].)

Red is my favorite Taylor Swift album. And I'm overwhelmed that MissMaam Taylor has so many surprises for us. Are you also biased with Red, 'dam? Chos HAHAHA

I also want to say that the Phoebe Bridgers collab in RedTV is ONE OF THE BEST EVER. I LOVE IT SO MUCH THANK YOU TAYLOR HUHU

Anyway, comparing it to the 2012 version, the RedTV has cleaner mixing. Of course this is already expected but I'm super amazed of how crisp and clean the sounds are, especially in All Too Well.

In the 2012 version, the guitar strumming is so amplified. In Taylor's Version, it is now the percussions that's more prominent. Both versions are honestly good but I prefer the latter + sarap ng timpla of how well the band played the instruments and the back-up vocals too!! Solid kaayo ang musical arrangement sa Red TV and I can just imagine how hard she worked to re-record this album.

Speaking of All Too Well, it's part of my routine na to watch its short film, or if not, listen to the 10-minute version over and over again because GRABE ANG GANDA GUSTO KONG UMIYAK. This song has always been my fave TS song and I guess I'm obsessed with the short film because we were deprived of having an MV before :'-D But now Taylor's Version DELIVERS! She gave us a short film!! 😭💘

I love the direction. I love the cinematography. I love the casting. I love the acting. I love how it shows not only the shitty parts of the relationship, but also the good parts that made her ask, Are you real?

Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien were perfect for the roles. Their chemistry was unexpected yet superb. Honestly before its premiere, the actors' age difference didn't sit well with me and I doubted that they'd look good together. But they proved many of us wrong. And I think it's safe to assume that Taylor did that intentionally 😏 It's one of the many nuances in the short film that she gave attention to.

The "You called me up again just to break me like a promise. So casually cruel in the name of being honest." has always been my favorite part in All Too Well. But after watching the short so many times now, I think I have a new favorite:

"But you keep my old scarf from that very first week. Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me. You can't get rid of it cause you remember it all too well."

She perfectly used the word INNOCENCE. That part of the song is THE REMEMBERING chapter. The perfectly played drums going well with the beat? INFECTIOUS. And the throwing in of all their intimate moments and good parts of their relationship like a supercut? BEAUTIFUL 😩

I lost count how many times I've listened and watched it. I'm afraid that I'll eventually get tired from it. I hope I don't. I think I never will. 'Cause I've been listening to this song for years now and it's still one of the best. Ever.

I don't know how to end this post haha. But I guess I'll end it by saying that over the years Taylor Swift has proved to us that she is truly a songwriting genius. Yet now she also proves how equally talented she is in film writing and directing. I STAN THIS QUEEN.

OMG please watch this. Forgive it its hair? t's just a GREAT. It is an elegant little Japanese BL that stays completely true to its yaoi roots but neatly avoids all the flaws of the genre. I promise it will be such a joy and a comfort to you.

Popular first year Seiryo has a policy of going out with any girl who asks… for one week. On a lark, third year Yuzuru tests to see if that policy also applies to boys. Seiryo agrees that it does. Along the way they accidentally fall in love.

Cherry Magic (2020)

The sweetest, fluffiest, most charming bit of office-set adorable ever, given gravity by some stellar performances. The characters are utter spazzes, but so cute about it. All angst is self confidence based, nothing really distressing ever happens, but it is very low heat (practically chaste).

Adachi discovers on the mornign of his 30th birthday that he can read minds and that the most popular guy in his office, Kurosawa, has a mad crush on him.

Cherry Magic AKA 30 Years A Virgin Can Make You a Wizard AKA 30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii (2020) is indie subbed.

Restart After Come Back Home (2020)

This one is perfect if you just want a beautiful loving movie, and one that is well filmed and lyrical. The only drama is family conflict of the silent grumpy kind - will baby take over Dad’s furniture business or not? OH THE PERIL of it all. (sense my sarcasm, okay? there is NO peril)

A beautiful atmospheric movie about returning home to find yourself and finding love along the way, more romance than BL but charming.

Restart After Come Back Home AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de is indie subbed.

THAILAND

You already mentioned a lot of the ones I would recommend, but here are a few you didn’t name.

A Tale of Thousand Stars (2021)

All BL is romantic, but not all BL is a modern romance in the literary sense of the term, but 1k* is just that, an absolutely glorious slow burn romance that nods at BL but isn’t behooven to it. It’s got a great story and a killer cast.

Spoiled rich kid Tien gets a heart transplant and feels compelled to give back by pursuing a rural teaching job, he meets a gruff park ranger along the way.

1000 Stars can be found on GMMTV’s YouTube channel.

Kiss Me Again PeteKao cut (2018) + Dark Blue Kiss (2019)

Of all the origin BL couples, PeteKao are probably most of what you’re looking for. They start as a side couple in Kiss, and then are in a secret romance LTR by the time DBK rolls around.

DBK is not a traditional BL, because it’s not a traditional romance, more like an escapist soap opera. It features the perils of staying in the closest, amazingly supportive friends and family, and a morality tale on the importance of good communication. But it ends super happy.

Start with PeteKao’s 3 Part BL Cut from Kiss Me Again then move on to Dark Blue Kiss.

Great Men Academy (2019)

Gender body-swap means this isn’t technically BL but I have to suggest it because it just such a great escapist story. For body-swap it’s particularly clever and very well acted.

Love makes a wish because she has a crush on this boy. But the wish is tricky and turns her into a boy forcing her to attend the elite Great Men Academy and win her man... as a man. Unfortunately, male Love kinda falls in love with his best friend instead.

You’ll have to get this one off DramaCool or the like, unfortunately it never got wide distribution.

KOREA

Color Rush (2021)

High school set BL with a unique paranormal twist that makes this a achingly apt allegory for the queer coming out experience and one of the best BLs of all time (I will fight you on this).

Yeon Woo is a mono, born with the inability to see color until he meets his probe, his perfect match. Unfortunately once a mono find his probe he’s prone to becoming obsessed and deadly. But on his first day at a new school when that probe shows up, said probe seems a hell of a lot more obsessed with him.

Color Rush is on Viki.

Light On Me (2021)

Korea does a pitch perfect classic high school set BL with all tropes cleverly deployed to bolster one of the most riveting love triangles ever put on screen… and I don’t like love triangles! It’s pristine in both color pallet and execution.

Taekyung decides after years of self imposed social isolation that he wants friends, so he joins the student council and meets two boys who both want more than friendship.

Light On Me is on Viki.

Wish You (2020)

This i a low stakes high pining romance set in the music industry. It’s soft and subtle and achingly adorable.

It’s about a pianist who falls in love with a busker who is on his way to being the next big idol.

Wish You AKA WISH YOU: Your Melody in My Heart is on Netflix or Viki, you want the movie version.

A First Love Story (2021) and then Just Friends? (2009)

This is a double bill but they are both short. Just Friends? is only 30 minutes (its YouTube uploads are padded), watch it AFTER A First Love Story (which is 2 microfilms from Strongberry). AFLS just came out but you should watch them first as they make a great prequel to Just Friends?

Basically these deal with Korean military service and a kind of comfortable LTR relationship evolving from friends to lovers and then out of the closet.

TAIWAN

HIStory 2: Crossing the Line (2018)

Taiwan’s best example of classic BL with a sports romance foundation using some of the most typical but least offensive yaoi tropes. You know it’s Taiwan so the kisses are great but in this case it also ends well. Only trigger is that the side couple is the stepbrothers trope and some don’t like that.

Super low stakes sweetest story of the bad boy who falls hard for the senior on the volleyball team and then works to earn his love.

HIStory 2: Crossing the Line is on Viki.

Be Love In House: I Do (2021)

A cute classy office set BL with a few plot raised eyebrows, but no other concerns, plus a general sweet softness that’s pretty rare from Taiwan.

It has a story but not much of one and it kinda doesn’t matter. The leads are great and carry everything off the maximum pretty.

See You After Quarantine? (2021)

Taiwan’s answer to Gameboys is just as charming and adorable yet still as quintessentially Taiwanese as one might hope. It features a Japanese love interest and the cutest most confused disaster gay. The two have almost no actual screen time together and yet manage some truly amazing chemistry. Honestly how does Taiwan do it?

Big Troupe Announcements! Big Troupe Summer!

Hello, everyone! Lord Atos Sunhart here! For those of you who aren’t aware, Fehl had stepped down last year from Troupe related duties due to her own life becoming much more demanding, and so I returned to the director’s seat once again. I’ve been back for about a year, but we’ve kind of laid a little low since my return due to a lot of restructuring and our desire to try a few new ideas out that are coming along slowly but surely!

We have some awesome projects in the works, some of which won’t be ready for some time, and some that we’re excited to bring you much sooner! But we can’t QUITE open the curtains for a peek just yet. Before anything, I’d like to make a series of announcements about some of our projects this Summer, starting with the most important one of all:

The Troupe Is Casting!

Looking at some of the last posts made on this ye olde tumblr I guess it’s not a surprise that the troupe is indeed casting once more. In the past, it was due to not really having enough active people to pull off a large show with, but now, times have changed a bit, and we’re looking for people to make our shows even better and more frequent than ever!

What we’re looking for;

* Any race/gender/faction! Yes, we hire Alliance as well! In the era of Discord and cross faction RP, there’s no reason we have not to. Though, we are overloaded on elves at the moment and would kinda love a tauren or any Alliance character

* Obviously the character should be a good fit for the group! We’re not really looking for a serial murderer warlock who tries to sacrifice our members to the great Murloc Gods at the first chance they get. We’re not too picky here, but there are some characters that just don’t work terribly well with our concept.

* Available to take part in events during most of our performing days, which tend to be weekends, starting around 6:00 PM server. We base all our event times on server time.

* Someone who, behind the character, is friendly, patient, and above all else, mature. The clear rule of “don’t be an asshole” applies in this guild (and I’ll explain what that means below), and we have a zero drama tolerance policy. We are all adults who pay a monthly subscription to a greedy corporation to play with their toys, I think the last thing we want is to relive middle school in our 20s and 30s.

* Someone with a desire to help make memorable, exciting events for others to enjoy. While we play the part of celebrities, and being in the spotlight is a lot of fun, ultimately we want someone who, behind the character at least, does it for the enjoyment of others and not for personal gain or clout. We’re not clout chasers. We are proud of how long we’ve been performing and how hard we work, but ultimately we do this for our audience’s enjoyment.

* Communication is important! We aren’t a hardcore raiding guild, and thus we won’t be upset if you tell us you have to miss a rehearsal night or have a family emergency.. But if you know ahead of time, we really want someone who will let us know they can’t make it to an event so we can plan around it.

Furthermore, it should be said that while we normally do not require a person leave their guild to join us, this time around we’re looking for more to wear the guild tag above their heads, at least for this recruitment effort. Above all of these, the most important key point is the ‘don’t be an asshole’ policy. In the past I didn’t think it needed to be explained, but things we’ve been through in recent months compels me to explain what I mean by this; no homophobic behavior, racist behavior, transphobic behavior, harassment, pedophilia and other such illegal and morally vile behavior will be tolerated in our guild, period. But I’m sure you’re asking, what’s in it for me? Well, the benefits of working with the Tirisfal Theatre Troupe are, but not limited to;

* Being part of a near decade-old (8 years this October) guild that through thick and thin has stood the test of time!

* Working alongside some extremely talented, fun, humorous, and creative minds!

* Getting to make people smile and be a positive part of the community!

* Taco Tuesdays. This is a lie, don’t believe me.

* Helping an already fun concept become even better as we grow and adapt to the ever changing nature of this game and its community!

* Adding “Actor/Actress” to your long series of titles in your TRP Profile. Maybe somewhere between “Lord of the Dance” and “Wrecker of your Shit”! Don’t be bashful, we know you have it in there somewhere.

Anniversary Bash 2021 Officially Planned! With a Twist

Those of you who have followed us for some time are likely aware of our annual celebration we hold on the anniversary of our first major public performance! This has traditionally been held on the third Friday of every October, so that it lines up perfectly with Hallow’s End starting. While we have had on-off years, and even said in the past we would never do it again (Insert I was crazy that time meme here), it’s pretty clear that at least every other year we seem to take to it again with new ideas. Honestly, we LOVE these yearly parties, despite how much stress they put us under, and we’re going to announce it earlier this year just so people know; yes, yes there WILL be a bash this year!

Things are going to be a little different this year, though. This October will actually have 5 Fridays in it due to...well...the calendar! It conspires against us, dammit! Because the third Friday falls in place before the Hallow’s End events are set to start, we will instead be bumping it up one week to the 22nd. So, there you have it! Our Big Bash will be on the 22nd of October! We’ll be making a full announcement about it later this Summer, and honestly, I think folks are going to really like the fun we have planned for it. So if this is something you’re looking forward to early, or you just like making sure your calendar events are always filled out, please make a mark for

Hellsqueal Squeals Again, Plus Winter’s Veil In July?

This Summer we’ll be getting back to our roots and bringing Hellsqueal back for another round. The Trilogy will rise again, and you won’t want to miss it! This time we’ll be performing it for our audiences on both sides of the factional fence and making some revisions to the script, but long time fans needn’t worry! Hellscream is still the same boisterous buffoon he’s always been.

Also, we’re bringing you an interesting new concept no one has EVER thought of before! ...well, okay, that’s a lie, but Greatfather Winter needn’t send me a lump of coal in my in-game mailbox for that one! The TTT will be hosting a Winter’s Veil themed party IN JULY! Don your gaudy sweaters, get ready to meet Greatfather Winter, take part in a sled race, and get ready to watch a completely out of season showing of It’s A Wonderful Unlife! Some lucky attendees may even receive a gift! The date for this and for Hellsqueal’s trilogy are yet to be announced, but they will be unveiled very soon!

Even though we never left, it feels good to be back at full strength again and pushing hard to give everyone the quality entertainment we pride ourselves on! Keep an eye out for our announcements this Summer - we’ll be hitting not only Tumblr when an event is ready to go, but the Blizzard forums and various Discord community servers! Commissions Open

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well and this year has been more than a little crazy. However, I figure to help make the year a little easier and help out for some future plans, I’m going to be reopening commissions.

There will be 5 slots. I don’t want to overwhelm myself and I don’t want to suddenly keep a lot of people waiting in case my job situation does change. This will first come/first serve. I will only be accepting stuff via ask or tumblr messenger. That means no anons. I need to actually communicate with anyone interested in commissions.

Details Under the Read More:

Headcanons (Examples): These will cost $10.00 as a base fee. With headcanons, I try to go in depth with the concept you wish to discuss. This won’t really feature an POV of the character in question. Their point of view can be explored but it generally is done in my perspective. The $10 will buy you the first 1,500 words completely free of charge with an extra dollar for every 100 words. The word count will be rounded up if it’s over 50.

Drabbles (Example): The cost will be $15.00 as a base fee. As opposed to the head canons, the POV will now be focused solely on the character you wish to focus on. Have you wanted to see the character in a school setting? Maybe fighting crime? Perhaps doing something mundane or magical? Maybe doing some complicated fighting? I will be happy to do it. Like before, the $15 will buy the first 1,500 words, with an extra dollar for everyone 100 words. The word count will be rounded up if it’s over 50.

Character/Story Consultation: Do you require an editor or second opinion on your work of latest creation? At $10.00 for a character and $20.00 for a fan fic (per chapter), I will schedule a time with you over tumblr, discord, or google to go over your desired work of fiction or character.

Extra Costs:

Brand New Verse: If you wish me to write about a headcanon or drabble that does not exist in any media, this will cost an extra $5.00 if I accept to do this. I’m literally breaking brand new ideas and won’t try to half ass anything. This will also add another 500 words. Examples of this may include: “What sort of Pokemon lineup would Vox Machina of Critical Role have”, “What types of benders would the cast of Sailor Moon be”, or “Who would win the Hunger Games from the cast of Batman Beyond?”.

NSFW: I can accept and write NSFW, but I have full reign to also deny those requests. I do not wish to write incest, no pedophilia, and nothing illegal. This will also add another 500 words to your story. This will also cost a $5.00 charge on this.

Original Character: If you want to include an original character of your choosing into the story, I can. I will require samples and this will cost an additional $5.00 as I’m working with something a tad unfamiliar. I may also be asking you a little more often about certain actions or choices said original character might do.

General Questions:

I wish to buy multiple headcanons/drabbles from you? Can this all count as one slot?

For the time being, no. I don’t want to be unfair to you or any other potential customer so in this case, one commission equals one slot. If I finish up all the slots and wish to continue this, I may change this rule.

Can I only commission Batman Beyond from you? What if I want a headcanon or drabble about something else?

I’m happy to accommodate! I have a ton of experience in several different fandoms and I’m happy to take a stab at something if you’d like to.

What fandoms are you interested in writing?

The absolutely easiest ones I can write about as a setting or with characters would be the following: DC Comics, DCAU (DC Animated Universe), Young Justice, Marvel, MCU, Marvel Exiles, Marvel 2099, Pokemon, Digimon, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Sailor Moon, Dragonball, Naruto, One Piece, Persona, BNHA/MHA/Hero Academia, American McGee’s Alice, TMNT, Final Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons, Critical Role, Avatar: TLA/LOK, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Steven Universe, Kamen Rider, Game of Thrones, Invader Zim, The Hunger Games, The Promised Neverland, and a few odds and ends here. If you have any concerns or want to check with a fandom I may be familiar with, please don’t hesitate to ask.

If you aren’t familiar with a fandom but I’d like you to write it, will you?

It ultimately depends, but I will certainly try my best. I’ll generally read or watch as much as I can of the fandom to get a better understanding. If there’s a big learning curve (examples being watching say Supernatural or Dr. Who’s mega arcs), I may have to decline. I want to give you the best product I can and not half ass any of my work.

Will you accept any request?

No. If I feel like something is too difficult to write (EX: I’m unaware of the fandom, I’m too uncomfortable to write the material, etc) I will say no and ask if we could find a middle ground or a potential second option. If that’s impossible, then I will deny the request.

Can you do freebies?

I have to decline from doing freebies at this time.

Can you write about my original character and a canon character?

Sure. As stated earlier, I will be asking for references as much as possible if I’m totally unfamiliar with a character of your creation.

How and when do I pay for commissions?

We can sum it with these quick steps:

1) Following the requests and any questions, I will calculate the cost and email you an invoice. The invoice must be paid in full in order to proceed.

2) During said process, I will begin work immediately on your request. If the word count will go over the requested amount, I will notify you and give you the option to take a shortened story ato your desired word count or we can renegotiate to allow more words and a secondary invoice will be made. Once again, no progress will be done until the invoice is paid.

3) Once all invoices are paid, I will deliver the product to you via tumblr or via email.

What is your turnaround rate for writing?

This ultimately depends on how many commissions I have lined up as well. I do have a 50+ hour work week but I am eager to work on your story when I have time. I try to at least complete a project in 1 to 2 weeks upon beginning. If I need additional time, I will notify you of this.

Can I do anything with the story afterwards?

Absolutely. You paid for the drabble/headcanon. You can post it anywhere you’d like. Depending on how I feel about certain headcanons or drabbles and if I can post it on my blog or Ao3, I will absolutely do so.

I suddenly had an idea and wanted to change my SFW story to be NSFW or vice versa. Can this be done?

I will only allow up to 2 major changes like this. If you wish to add something, the additional charges will be done to the final payment. As stated above, I will not release the product until payment is complete. If you wish to remove charges, I will not refund you. However, I will attempt to increase the word count to make this a fairly even trade.

What would constitute a major change?

As mentioned above, changing the format of the story from SFW to NSFW or vice versa. Also included would be wishing to add new original characters. Things such as “character goes to a picnic when we agreed upon a restaurant” or requests in a similar vein would not count as a major change.

What if I have more than 2 major changes for the fic?

I’ll ask that you request a new commission.

Can I simply donate to you?

You may if you wish!

I don’t have any money but do wish to support you. How may I do that?

Why should I buy a commissions?

I have a little over 20 years of writing experience in several formats and fandoms. Aside from what you can find on the blog, I have assisted in creating unique battle scripts and plots for my own original projects and writing partners. I was wondering for a while but kept forgetting to ask: how have Dave and Rupert been? Was it hard to pick (or design) a hat when you joined since you can’t change hats after?

Actually, Henry and Ellie made that rule a little more lenient.

Yeah. The rule is now that you can't change the basic COLORS of your hat. So, you can change your hat if you want, but it has to be in the colors you chose.

As for the two of us, we've been getting along just fine. Been fighting as much as we did before we joined the Toppats, but this time we're actually enjoying ourselves.

MISSION REPORT: VERKLÄRTE NACHT, OP. 4

The seduction had been proceeding apace. Two glasses of wine with dinner, the gentle brush of a thumb over knuckles, a gleaming smile in the low light. Bond felt smugly confident that when Q led him up to his flat, he would be stripped of his clothes summarily, thrown onto the bed, and fucked right into the next morning, when he might make Q a nice omelet.

Q, flush-cheeked and purse-lipped, unlocked the door hastily, took Bond’s coat and hung it on a sleek wiry coatrack that looked more like a modern art piece than functional furniture. Bond settled back on the couch, taking in the space-age light touches of decoration scattered throughout the flat, as Q fumbled for the sound system and set his phone into a slot that immediately caused music to pulse through the flat.

Well. For a given understanding of “music.”

“Good God, what is that,” Bond spluttered. Violins screeched from the speakers.

Q sniffed. “It’s my sex playlist.”

“Are you a virgin?” Bond asked, genuinely concerned that he’d misread the situation badly. Of course Q was lovely, and older than he looked, but if he put that on whenever things got heated, surely he’d scared away his fair share of partners. “It’s customary to put on music, not noise.”

“That is music, you heathen,” Q snapped. “Schoenberg was a pioneer in atonality as a musical concept, not that I expect you to know twelve-tone technique from timbre. As a matter of fact, several studies have suggested that listening to atonal music improved bloodflow--”

“You mean it gives people headaches?”

“I mean you’re giving me a headache,” Q said.

Bond crossed the flat to the stereo in three quick strides and shut off the utterly unmelodic whatever that was currently careening out of the speakers. “What if,” he said lowly, relishing the silence--and already thinking of the favors he could extract out of Q’s neighbors-- “I just gave you head?”

Q made a noise rather less dignified than a snort, but at least he looked less miffed about having his own seduction plan derailed. “That would be a start,” he conceded, and Bond grinned. The evening was looking up.

The 2020 Tony Awards may represent a shortened Broadway season, but there is a wealth of contenders to consider for the play categories. Fall and winter on the rialto is chock full of non-musical dramas, which will make for plenty of tense races at this year’s ceremony. To help you predict which productions and performers might come out on top this year, you’ll find my best insights into the potential nominees for the play categories below.

Best Play

There are ten eligible dramas from the 2019-2020 season, which should give us five nomination slots. The two biggest conversation starters of the fall were “The Inheritance” by Matthew Lopez and “Slave Play” by Jeremy O. Harris. Both should easily land a spot. I’m also betting that Adam Rapp grabs a slot for “The Sound Inside.” He’s won acclaim for years Off-Broadway, and nominators will be eager to highlight his Broadway debut.

The final two slots could go several ways. I think the love for Tracy Letts will help propel “Linda Vista” to a nomination, even if some audiences found the main character too unlikeable. “Sea Wall/A Life,” two short plays from Simon Stephens and Nick Payne, respectively, is a possibility. But voters may opt out of rewarding one acts. “A Christmas Carol” was praised for the new adaptation by Jack Thorne and it’s engrossing visuals, but a holiday themed play has never competed in this category. “My Name is Lucy Barton” and “The Height of the Storm” seem to be remembered for star performances more than their script, and this category has increasingly been tied to the writer in recent years. So I think “Grand Horizons” by Bess Wohl will fill out the category. The play depicts marriage issues in an aging relationship in a way that isn’t often seen.

Revival of a Play

With just four contenders, this will be a three nominee category. “Betrayal” was a box office hit thanks to the star power of Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Cox. “A Soldier’s Play” features powerhouse performances and feels more “important” than the other revivals. “Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune” didn’t get the audience turnout it deserved, but the production should still make the cut thanks to two dynamite performances and the desire to honor the late Terrence McNally. That means “The Rose Tattoo,” which received a chilly reception, will get left out in the cold.

Director of a Play

The three perceived frontrunners for Best Play should easily get their directors nominated. Stephen Daldry had the most massive undertaking of the bunch with “The Inheritance,” Robert O’Hara helped chart the wild tonal shifts of “Slave Play,” and David Cromer crafted an almost uncomfortable sense of intimacy with “The Sound Inside.” They all should look out for “A Christmas Carol” director Matthew Warchus. Even if the play fails to make the top category, the massive cast and sprawling set he had to wrangle make Warchus a huge threat here. I suspect Kenny Leon will take the remaining spot for “A Soldier’s Play,” but there are several directors nipping at his heels. Leigh Silverman (“Grand Horizons”), Jamie Lloyd (“Betrayal”), and Arin Arbus (“Frankie and Johnny”) are all poised to make a surprise.

Lead Actress in a Play

Mary-Louise Parker gave a career defining performance in “The Sound Inside” and leads the pack here. She faces tough competition from Laura Linney, who is looking for her first Tony win with the solo show “My Name is Lucy Barton,” and Joaquina Kalukango, who became a critical darling for a brutally raw performance in “Slave Play.”

The final slot is a close call between Audra McDonald (“Frankie and Johnny”), Zawe Ashton (“Betrayal”), and Eileen Atkins (“The Height of the Storm”). In a close race, I’m leaning towards all time Tony Awards champ McDonald in a baity Terrence McNally role.

Lead Actor in a Play

This is a race without a clear frontrunner. “The Inheritance” has three eligible lead actors, and the big question is how many of them will get in? Andrew Burnap seems like the safest bet thanks to his explosive and tragic role, and Olivier winner Kyle Soller should also make the cut for his sympathetic performance. Samuel H. Levine played two characters which allowed him to show range. However, the role feels like it belongs in the Featured Actor race, which could push him out of contention. “Betrayal” presents a similar prediction conundrum with both Charlie Cox and Tom Hiddelston contending in this category. If only one can make it, I give a slight edge to Hiddelston. Both men were widely praised however, and nominators might just check off both names.

One contender who won’t have to worry about splitting support with costars is Ian Barford. Even if his character makes dubious choices in the play, Barford should easily land a nomination for his towering performance. If any of these contenders falter, Jake Gyllenhaal (“Seawall/A Life”), Jonathan Pryce (“The Height of the Storm”), and Michael Shannon (“Frankie and Johnny”) would make worthy nominees.

Featured Actress in a Play

Lois Smith is the early favorite here. The stage legend has never won a Tony Award, and this small but mighty role gave her the perfect opportunity to show why she’s long been treasured by New York audiences. But plenty of women had roles with more stage time than Smith this season, and could provide stiff competition. Chief among those actresses is Sally Murphy, excellent in “Linda Vista” at portraying hopeful highs and heartbreaking lows of a doomed romance. Annie McNamara should also score here for “Slave Play,” thanks to her comedic moments dealing with white guilt and a wild sex scene.

There are four major contenders, from two plays, looking to fill the remaining two slots. In “A Christmas Carol,” Tony winners Andrea Martin and LaChanze embody the Ghost of Christmas Past and Ghost of Christmas Present, respectively. It’s usually a bad idea to bet against these women when it comes to Tony nominations, but I’m going out on a limb for two performances from “Grand Horizons.” Ashley Park is quickly proving to be one of the most versatile Broadway performers and should snatch a nomination for her scene stealing work. And most pundits thought Jane Alexander would be placed in Lead Actress for this role, but now that she’s in Featured she might just have the largest role of the bunch.

Featured Actor in a Play

The expected showdown here is David Alan Grier (“A Soldier’s Play”) vs. Paul Hilton (“The Inheritance”). I have no idea who will win that close race, but safe to say I’d be shocked if either actor missed a nomination. Of course, the four men of “Slave Play” might have something to say about the race. But their chances at winning may come down to just how many of them are nominated. I’m betting that Paul Alexander Nolan (who shares the brutal final act with Joaquina Kalukango) and Ato Blankson-Wood (who is asked to do plenty of emotional heavy lifting) make the cut. James Cusati-Moyer and Sullivan Jones are certainly in the running, but it’s difficult to score four nominations in a single category.

Who takes the last slot? John Benjamin Hickey (“The Inheritance”) would make a great choice, but his role is fairly subdued for most of the play. If voters are looking for more of a scene chewer they might opt for Michael Urie or James Cromwell of “Grand Horizons” or Will Hochman for “The Sound Inside.”

Hey, hope your quarantine is going great I'm wondering, who do you think are the top 3 actors/actresses on Med and why? For me it's gotta be Rachel, Colin and Ato in no particular order. I think their acting is pretty strong! There might be some bias in my answer but their actors are part of the reason why I like their characters so much.. ehhh 😂

Brian Tee, Nick Gehfluss, and S Epatha.

Brian Tee is so different from the characters he plays. It’s like night and day. He’s all sweet and soft and caring, he’s always playing these hard-asses. But then when he has to NO ONE turns on the “I don’t want to cry but, dammit I’m crying” tears like Brian Tee and you believe him.

Nick is the same. Completely different than Will. He isn’t nearly as stupid but Nick is a total goof, he has no sense, where WIll tends to be more serious.

The range on both of them, they aren’t playing modified versions of themselves.

And S Epatha is royalty, she needs more to do because she is an excellent actress, everything feels even and real with her. No matter how small her lines she elevates every scene.

Honestly the entire cast is really great but those are my favorites.

Hey there! Hope all is well in your world. I’ve been watching Bad Buddy and of course love the series but what has me in awe each week is the music. Like everything is working on this show: script, acting and the music. A great musical score for a series or movie can really add depth to what you are watching. It feels like Bad Buddy will be a memorable one because of these factors. I feel like 2gether can be on this list; also Be Loved in House: I Do and Love Sick. My question to you is, if you were to make a list of BL series that had a great script, acting, and music which ones would be added?

Honestly, I'm not sure I'm you're huckleberry on this one. I frankly only pay attention to the music if it seriously annoys me. So my criteria is more:

is the music adding to or subtracting from my experience?

But I can give you a list based on the following criteria.

The music did not annoy me.

The acting (mains & sides) didn't make me cringe.

The script doesn't piss me off.

Shall we call these?

Top 10 BL Allrounders: Script, Acting & Sound Track

1000 Stars (Thai) - aside from the one snafu with the flute (just let China have that one, Thailand) everything about this BL is solid from story to full cast acting to music to cinematography (which you didn’t ask about but counts for a lot with me.) This is one of the few BLs I feel safe recommending to pretty much anyone who enjoys romance, because it has an incredibly low barrier to entry. (YouTube)

Restart After Come Back Home AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de (Japan) - minimal dialogue that suits this style of Japanese cinematic BL, sweeping cinematography and unobtrusive score, top tier acting. The benchmark for this kind of Bl from Japan. The only other one on this list I’m happy to suggest to anyone in my life who will sit still long enough. (indie subs)

Until We Meet Again (Thai) - the best BL story with a solid script, good acting and great chemistry all round, mostly classic music and no singing of feelings (thank fuck). Trigger warnings and blushing maiden trope are the only two aspects that keep this in the arena of BL fandom. (YouTube)

Light On Me (Korea) - great script that was given enough time to develop for a change, solid acting (little stiff on chemistry but that’s just Korea for you), and I enjoyed the OST. Refrain was a little overused but I only really noticed on a binge rewatch, so forgivable in a serial installment piece. (Viki)

HIStory 3: Trapped (Taiwan) - really good script, overacting is called for by the style but still minimal, fabulous chemistry, unobtrusive score, fast pacing, a general delight to watch. (Viki)

He’s Coming to Me (Thai) - super solid all rounder on script, acting, support cast, and score. Best, most honest coming out sequence in a Thai BL. GMMTV at its most workmanlike but also best. (YouTube)

Gameboys the series (Pinoy) - unexpectedly good script, fantastic acting, decent score (when present at all). (Netflix)

Dark Blue Kiss (Thai) - super dramatic score, established couple chemistry and snarky dialogue, solid script with one of the better faen fatals, great surrounding cast, the original GMMTV workhorse BL. (YouTube)

See You After Quarantine? (Taiwan) - short but unexpectedly suited to the length, didn’t really need more as this is tight and tidy. Adorable script in multiple languages, great acting, nice if minimal music. (Viki)

His the movie (Japan) - fantastic acting, amazingly natural support cast (even from the child actor), beautiful sparse script, lovely music, very compelling in general. (Viki)

I would also put Love Sick on this list, on account of the dialogue alone and the acting is good (if not the chemistry), although the pacing is bloated, especially in season two.

However, I would not include 2gether (Green is a fatally flawed character, not Guns fault!, but I can’t forgive the script for that). Also, while I ADORE BLIH:ID the story conceits are dumb, the dialogue is okay, but the result is still illogical or childish and confusing character motivation.)

Honorable Mention: 3 Will be Free (Thai) for story, pace, and acting.

As you can see, some of my all time favorite BLs are not on this list (We Best Love fails on script, Color Rush on chemistry, and Cherry Magic on acting - those side characters & that slapstick).

I should probubly add Blueming, My Beautiful Man, and Semantic Error to this list. In general Korea and Japan have the best production values, it’s jsut story they often fall short on.
