Whew, seeing a therapist is looking even more desirable now!

As my signature there reveals, I actually drew this sketch back in 2019. I've had it pretty much all cleaned up for a few years now, and it was one of the very last mostly-finished sketches from the before times that I had not posted yet... It was originally prompted by my and @alfafilly's comic and misc. imaginings of a Viktoria / Arpeggio cross-over, and since we haven't touched that particular subject in a while, I guess I was waiting for a "suitable time" to post this sketch.

To be more serious for a moment, 2023 has turned out to be a rather difficult year for me: being a father to an extremely busy little baby who has trouble sleeping, going 15 months now without a solid night's sleep myself, dealing with ongoing family issues, and recently a very serious health matter with my own father. It has been a challenge, to say the least.

As I'm sure many other artists feel, drawing, writing, and bringing my characters to life is more than just a hobby to me... While sketching sexy anthro Ospreys and the like doesn't sound especially profound as a form of personal expression and emotional catharsis, it is none-the-less something I deeply enjoy and an activity which nourishes my soul. It is also something I've had precious little time to do now having made the commitment to be a dad.

I am not unhappy with my choices though; I look with eager anticipation to what lies ahead as a parent, and also to what I want to do with my art as time allows... I just wish I could focus on fewer life-changing matters simultaneously, or at least get a bit more sleep.

TL;DR, Life is not static and I'm really tired.

I have so little free time these days it’s hard to do more with it than just work on @avaniacomic pages, but I really wanted to draw something seasonal this fall, and I think this piece really turned out beautifully!

StarWasp Team Wallpaper - [Suit Only]

...As opposed to the armored version here!

While I’m continuously working on the next chapter of Avania, I am happy to have finished Space!Viktoria and her alien crew! Looks like Una and Charlotte aren’t the only space privateers in the finished space pinup game now! I’m quite happy with how this all turned out, and I spent quite some time tweaking the lighting effects and such, and Viktoria has multiple pose/suit variations alone, so expect to see more than one version of this wallpaper. I couldn’t decide whether to have Viktoria wearing her pliable armor and beret or just her flight suit for this pic, so I ended up making multiple versions! If you’re wondering about the ship, that is the titular StarWasp, and is sort of a space privateer gunship version of the Osprian SeaWasp fighter aircraft Viktoria flies in her regular Avania setting. I’ll probably throw some details up about it in another pic since you can’t get that great a look at it here anyway. And if you’re wondering why Space!Viktoria has a dramatic scar sometimes, it is just another part of her outfit that she applies to give her commando look a little extra fierceness! Thanks to @alfafilly for designing both Cattiveria and Chasse (and Rozenich / Ambivian species in general)!

The aftermath of Hans and Schmitt's encounter with the mysterious man, as seen in this deluxe version of the shot from page 7 of Avania No.5. Due to the large number of smaller panels in the pages before and after this, this will wrap up the chapter as far as the "deluxe" stand-alone pictures will go, but I am still proud of the art in those scenes, so check out the comic itself if you haven't already!
