Augggggghhhhhhh, the horrors of being perceived! Social interaction! Setting up times to hang out! Waiting for people to message back! The horror! The horror!

#an old friend wants to have dinner together tomorrow and it will be fun but AUGH #said old friend used to be my boss and is like my adopted grandmother #it's complicated #and she knows my twin but doesn't know my twin is trans and she WILL ask about them and i'll have to juggle pronouns #and she's offering to take me to dinner but doesn't really know my food issues so there's a minefield #and she's like the nicest person i know but I haven't seen her in three and a half years #awkward awkward awkward #she's the most social butterfly person i know and i'm just ME #well. more than just me. horrendously awkwardly human disasterly me #and she obviously likes my disaster self or she wouldn't want to hang out. but also. gah.#she loves me. i know she does. i'm just so BAD at being SOCIAL

extremely uncomfortable moment in my human rights of gender and sexuality class today when israel was mentioned in the context of pinkwashing and we all forgot about the one israeli student in the class who derailed the whole discussion to argue that it wasn’t fair to hold israel accountable for war crimes because they are actually really nice to gay people actually, and palestine isn’t, did you know? so that propaganda tool you mentioned is actually just facts and education. and then my professor had to figure out how to convey that that was stupid and wrong without getting reported to the dean, and the rest of us were just sat there like

#i did eventually chime in with ‘sure israel is great to gay people. unless you’re a palestinian gay person’#but then immediately had to pivot to all the ways this happens in america too so she didn’t get her nationalistic feelings hurt #awkward awkward awkward #i am glad i didn’t bring up my jewish feelings on atonement when the concept came up in our discussion earlier tho #i thought about it but boy howdy am i glad i didn’t get into a ‘what does judaism think about this’ talk with her #personal

It's a declaration she had expressed to him many times over the years. To bear each other's secrets as if their lives depended on it. Wishes made on dandelions, pinky promises, and whispers kept to themselves. What words have been lost to time spent exploring the domain's highest peaks and greatest cliffs? Gentle musings about family, death, fear, and love.

As they grew older, those promises only diminished with time. Mipha was no longer the sole bearer of his secrets, nor was he for her. And at this moment, even when he reassures her, she cannot express the great pain she bears. (Even healers receive wounds.)

She can run circles around him with her words if she so chooses. The implication that the Zora Princess was anything but fine only made her want to be fine! To feign happiness and ignore any hardships one may face at a tender age.

And so, she smiles; as if every ounce of her heart were behind it. (Her eyes almost pleading for him to not inquire further.) "Thank you, Link; however, I only want to ask you about the Princess' birthday. I hope a surprise gift will eleviate some of her woes. We've ordered the finest silks from the Gerudo Region. I was hoping you would know; does she have an emerald dress yet?"

When Izzy first walked out I was worried that he would be made into a joke that the crew would laugh at

but then he started singing and the dancing began and I realized that he wasn’t meant to be a joke at all. This is the most open and happy we’ve ever seen Izzy and the show treated it that way. Not mocking him but instead celebrating this moment.

When we talk about queer representation it’s usually just focused on queer relationships, but what I love about this episode is it shows other sides of being queer. That moment where Izzy saw Wee John doing his makeup and had a realization that he wanted that too? That is what being queer means to me. The crew singing along and cheering for him? That is what being apart of the queer community means to me.

What i love about this show is that it shows queer joy, not in a sanitized way, but in away that is messy, beautiful, and without any mockery or shame.

#the fact i expected him to be made fun of just reflects how queer people are usually presented in media #i was preparing myself for an awkward scene full of secondhand embarrassment for izzy #but then it didn’t happen.
