In which horror movie would these characters be the killers?

It’s a psychological horror called Chrysalis, plastered with trigger warnings about the abuse that Alois goes through in the first act of the movie. There’s some supernatural mixed in as well, given that the boy literally conjures a demon to help him get revenge on his abuser. While Claude is the driving threat toward the soon-to-be-former Earl Trancy, the old fool doesn’t suspect that his ‘son’ has anything to do with it. … Right up until Alois steps in, requests that he make the killing blow, and, well, gets to strike the earl down. The rest of the movie is the aftermath of Alois trying to cover it all up, and Claude perhaps not being very helpful. Much of the horror, as psychological, comes from the buildup to the initial killing, as well as the effects of the abuse Alois went through after the old earl is dead. It’s dark, scary, and perhaps too real of a film.

A political, more action-like horror called The Earl, with high drama and higher stakes… and, of course, a touch of paranormal in the form of Sebastian. Unlike Alois’ film, Ciel’s doesn’t go into huge detail about his past, and it isn’t the main focus of the movie; there are some flashbacks, but it isn’t lingered on too much. The plot centers more on the world of aristocracy that Ciel is a part of, and the things he must do to put a stop to anything which needs stopped. As expected, Ciel is a tool in Her Majesty’s arsenal, and Sebastian is one of his tools. The biggest thing which marks it as a horror rather than pure action and drama is that some of Ciel’s victims are either innocent or deserve some lesser punishment than to be killed. That’s one thing his film has in common with Alois’ — the brutal honesty that the world is not fair.

A suspenseful horror called Fairground, devoid of supernatural elements, and at its core a story about how far a person will go to be loyal to their loved ones. Perhaps Freckles themself isn’t the main character, although they do have moments where they get the spotlight. They got tangled up in all this because they adore their family… because they wanted to save what they thought was left of it. The ‘father’ of the circus troupe keeps them all as puppets on a string, and all of the members got desperate with his threats. They run their circus, but after the show is over, all the first-stringers take to the shadows to kidnap children who attended the show. The Baron has given them these orders, snapping at them not to question why. All they know is that it, unfortunately, necessitates killing the parents of any child they take. Freckles is one of the most sympathetic characters, crying when they have to be the one to kill and full-on sobbing after they deliver any child to their ‘father’. The film doesn’t have a happy ending, although it does come with a sequel hook.

It’s a ‘slasher’ horror set in a university called Pretty Please, fairly typical as horror films go. The main draw for it is that there isn’t a huge body count, and it’s not quite as gory as some movies in the genre, so a lot of people recommend it as a first watch for someone just getting into horror. (Also, people recommend it for anyone who likes horror focused around LGBT+ characters!) Maurice is a too-eager-to-please, insecure bitch in sheep’s clothing who has a crush on his best friend Edgar. When a new student arrives on campus in the form of Joanne, someone Edgar takes under his wing, Maurice’s jealousy reaches a fever pitch. The most iconic scene involves Maurice, Joanne, and (according to film critics) 20+ stab wounds. The rest of the plot consists of Edgar’s other friends stumbling on clues, whereupon Maurice attempts to pick them off… and, when he tries to kill Herman, paying dearly for it. While others say the plot isn’t anything too wild, it’s still a good pick for anyone having a horror movie marathon.
