what a fantastic transition

#as much as i absolutely adore LT with all my heart there are no cartoons out there that give me such a CONSISTENT sense of raw visceral joy #than the Fleischer Popeyes #they are the epitome of fun. that’s such a vague word i know but i think it perfectly encapsulates these cartoons #not too gaudy or self absorbed. despite the fantastical nature of some plots and the gags and visuals there’s a down to earth humility as #well. it owns its simplicity very well. hearing that ‘30s jazz reach a climax as the visuals and gags and tactility and emotions get #stronger and faster in the climax of these shorts literally #gives me goosebumps! it’s an adrenaline rush #i also adore Olive Oyl. i mean i love them all. Lesbian Courtney anon, oh I am sorry about Blaineley x Courtney ship. I didn't mean to say they get to together but more of sisterhood on set of movie plot then they get their own romances like Blanineley with her own oc or another character of her age. And Courtney maybe realizing romance is wonderful, you know what is better? Being herself and having friends/mentors that actually care about her,

I just get upset sometimes that we- some- or even me sometimes make Courtney suffer a lot for the plot or so called the one! For the name of romance but the truth is we forget her agency, her Courtney self from TDI to ALL-Stars, and I think is troubling for a little girl growing up watching that since I watched as a child.

Courtney deserves better with along the other characters.

I love Courtney but I really wished she in canon or lesbian fandom Courtney been treated more better not so seen like villain without arc of growth or just disrespect so often for angst instead we shove Duncan, Gwen, Heather, Scott, and whoever to 'save her' or 'fix her and show who to care/love in general'. I like to think we or Courtney is old enough to just realize I don't need to be pity and saved. I need to grow, heal on my own as well as get comforted by someone who cares and loves me doesn't need to marry me somehow end of the day.

Courtney has a lot of range as a character but hitting Duncan and yelling like him is a no go because it not safe type of love or system to treat people, yet the writers did it as be joke. The joke which is a problem more in society standards of trauma bonding relationships or two teenagers clearly love each other but need more mental health and their parents to put more nurture into them. It shouldn't be funny but sadly this kids' cartoon were farts, throwing up, hitting, and other things are supposed to be silly haha hehe no brain thoughts but come on? Really making Courtney the villain and it states in the Duncan wiki that he is on the creators' favorites like Duncan get arc of grow and oh it's okay he can be loved but nor the crazy ex trope. I think and believe both Duncan and Courtney didn't deserve that as a couple as well as their own characters.

Heck Duncan even loved Courtney being like that with him until they chose to rewrite their characters once more just for the Duncan and Gwen situation to happen which didn't need to happen in my opinion. Because it could be better for plot if Alejandro and Tyler be rivals somehow like Tyler struggling warn the others aa well as help Heather with Alejandro trying use the girls in the plane. Then Alejandro someone blaming all on Tyler as Heather lost her other ally and somewhat male healthy friendship a long the way.

Then Courtney vs. Heather vs. Alejandro for the 3rd season, get my vision? Heather sure wants Alejandro but puts it side with Courtney who was used by Alejandro then they work together to defend him against winning!

Bam it's Heather vs. Courtney but Courtney feels hollow not really in the game in it anymore her relationship with Duncan is more stable or they couldn't save it depends on the fan I guess, her growing friendship with Gwen is rocky since she left and took Gwen out the game, and now she might win! She has that AH moment maybe money not that worth it if the game made her power hungry.

Anyway, that's my code of choice saying Courtney I love you and sorry for being a shitty write on your character at times, and all girls of total drama deserve why better that being connected to a man/boy to make them better.

Shout to lesbians and those who write lesbian Courtney I l0ve you too. But please be better to my girl Courtney... stop dragging Scott and Duncan into it?!

We got such a good reaction to last week’s “The Summoning” postcard teasing a graphic novel series that I thought it was a good bet you hadn’t read the interview with creator Elyse Castro that was done in 2017 by the Frederator development group.

Frederator Studios’ Cooper Nelson checked in with Elyse Castro, creator of “The Summoning,” the newly released GO! Cartoons short on Cartoon Hangover, to ask a few burning questions. Let’s see if her answers are equally on fire.

Elyse Castro created “The Summoning,” about Claire, a witch, and her cat Edgar, on a quest for a missing spell ingredient. When I asked her our usual opening question—“Where did you study animation?”—Elyse just chuckled.

“Can’t answer that one,” she explained, “I didn’t!”

Rebellious against the ‘usual,’ Castro, of Brisbane, Australia, is a prolific creative, with experience ranging from playwriting to comics to taxidermy—she recently gave blacksmithing a go. Below, she doles out the deets on “The Summoning,” and leads us down her windy path to cartoon-creating.

So what did you study in school?

I went to uni for theater and visual art, but halfway through got really into the culture of tattooing, and became a tattoo apprentice. My Catholic parents were horrified. I was a tattoo artist for several years, then cooled off it—partly because of a hurt wrist, partly because I was tired of people’s shit tattoo ideas.

I can imagine. So then what’d you get up to?

I was doing freelance comics, some fine art, but also studied to become a drama teacher. I was frustrated about the neglect of arts and theater education in Australia, and decided to quit harping about the problems and lend a hand to the solutions.

Do you enjoy teaching?

I love connecting with the kids. And it’s creative—I teach at an all boys school, so I often write us alternative plays to fit them better, like our own version of “Robin Hood”. It’s a lot of laughs—I love making people laugh.

Is that why you wanna make cartoons?

Oh yeah – it’s always been a big motivation for me. My biggest goal in life all through growing up, and even now, is to make my sister laugh. It isn’t too hard, she’s thinks I’m a riot. She ended up becoming a research scientist, while I’m an adult entertained by Yo Gabba Gabba.

I respect that. So then what inspired “The Summoning”?

Certainly my maniac cats [see Winston below]. And actually, a lot of experiences with my sister. Voices we’d use, stupid things we’d do. And some gross stuff. Like, the whole bit with the dandruff in “The Summoning” was based on a time that I picked a big flake of the stuff off her head. I remember it now, a nice, sunny day…

Aha, gross! Gotcha. What mattered to you while developing your own short?

I thought about what I wanted to see in a cartoon—I’m drawn to the macabre, odd stuff, like my taxidermy. I’m very crafty, always making things, which lends itself to a witch character. And tone-wise, I wanted to keep it real, even have nuggets of education. Like in “The Summoning,” I tucked in a great factoid about poo consumption in the animal kingdom.

Sounds about as educational as a Frederator show gets!

I still can’t believe I have a project with Frederator. It was my childhood dream to make a cartoon, and I’m a huge fan of Pendleton Ward and Natasha Allegri. I even got to work with Natasha, who directed “The Summoning”! I was fangirling, it was so hard to act cool.

What’re your favorite cartoons?

Definitely Daria, Ren and Stimpy, South Park, and Adventure Time.

So about the witchcraft stuff – dabble in witchcraft yourself?

Not really, but I’m very interested in paganism and witchcraft. I study it, love the history behind it. My friends and I mess around with tarot cards sometimes, but I haven’t gone farther than that… yet.

It's like, if someone who never watched adam ruins everything before took one look at its name, the blonde, glasses wearing combover having guy on the cover, and went. "oh, this guy is gonna be HORRIBLE, isnt he". and in the shows case thatd be wrong but in roommate's case, he's...he's so pathetic. he's not even the same guy at this point. (and also literally isn't. but)

He never even manages to intimidate anyone even once. not even mr beast and ninja fortnite, (part of a team called Dubious Duo) who he just. VERY much annoyed via "ruining" twitch. He also got turned into a meaty handpuppet and fused to another clone of a different character by BILL CIPHER, of all characters but then immediately fell into a hole. He got his shit beaten out of him by a 19 year old punk catboy JUST before this, too. the punk catboys name is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart BUT HE IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO THE REAL GUY. HES LITERALLY JUST. SOME RANDOM TEENAGER.

Also, extra fun facts about him include: during an event that happened on the discord, he canonically went ":3". He made his own ytp and posted it on the soundcloud account, too. he put a bunch of goofy wacky cartoon sounds in it. (his mashups use these sounds a lot outside of the ytp, too.) THE TOONAMI CARTOON NETWORK/KIDS’ WB ERA (1997-2008) ANIME SMACKDOWN WILL SOON COMMENCE!!

In this tournament we will determine which series that aired on the Toonami block from 1997-2008 that tumblr users enjoyed the most. The one you always made sure to watch or that left the biggest impression on you. And if you didn’t watch Toonami, then vote for the series you liked the best! When vote then  vote in the name of nostalgia over what series you think is best *today*. 

How was each series chosen? 

I sourced the anime included in the bracket based on the well documented Wikipedia page for Toonami. However in order to keep the bracket manageable and even the playing field some decision were made: 

Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Cardcaptors, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh [GX], and Naruto are excluded due to their overwhelming popularity, so to even the field Yuyu Hakusho will be the only series with its high level of international fame to participate. These series will be included in another bracket [TBA]. However I chose to keep Dragon Ball GT due to how polarizing it was among fans.

For the sake of simplicity series that are in some way chronologically connected will go under the same entry. For example: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Tenchin Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo are entered together Tenchi Muyo! in the bracket. Zoids: New Century and Zoids: Chaotic Century are entered together as Zoids. Transformers: Armada, Transformers: Enegron, and Transformers: Cybertron are entered together as Transformers Trilogy. Gundam is excluded from this ruling as just about every entry are stand alone stories or exist within separate canons. 

Japanese-international co-productions will be in a bracket of its own [TBA]. However an exception will be made for Voltron, G-Force, and Robotech. While technically considered adaptions because of the reworked scripts and footage, they’re re-broadcasts of early attempts at anime distribution in the US, rather than an attempt at making something for an audience who are already familiar with/fans of anime. The Transformers trilogy is also exempt from this ruling despite being produced by Hasbro as I view them the same as a Bandai produced anime.

 Hamtaro is not seeded but is in fact going up against G-Force: Guardians of Space. (I accidentally wiped the whole bracket 3 separate times while making it and i am not redoing it at this time, sorry)

Happy 20th birthday to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003!

I remember around 15 years ago, when I was at the ripe age of 5-6 years old, someone gave me a TMNT DVD for my birthday. I wasn't exactly into action shows like that at the time and pretty much hated it, but my mom told me to give it a chance and put it on for my anyway. It was this show that made me realize just how much I love superheroes.

TMNT 2003 is something special. It's the most loyal show to the original Mirage comics, for one, with literal episodes taken directly from the pages themselves. Even the first lines of the show are from the first issue! Who can ever forget Leonardo's iconic line: "He's wrong. We're not wearing costumes." I still get shivers hearing the delivery of those sentences to this day.

And let's not forget that it was this iteration that basically confirmed the TMNT multiverse in dare I say the greatest turtle movie ever released yet: Turtles Forever. Because of that movie, we know that every past iteration and future iteration is connected to one another, and, whenever one version of the story ends, we have the hope in our hearts that it might not actually be the last we'll see of those specific turtles, whether it be in future references, actual crossovers, or something else entirely.

And, of course, we can't forget that this was the first cartoon version of the turtles that apparently swore, albeit it only in some of the few comic issues of the show ever released.

Who doesn't love that? If you're a fan of 2003, by the way, you should definitely check out the comics they released of it. If not all of them, just check out issue #5. It's become one of my favorite comic books ever (of all time) just because of how absolutely raw it is. The comics really did not hold back at all.

Which, by the way, is true for the show, too! Who could ever forget iconic episodes like Same As It Never Was, which ended up literally scarring us as kids by showing a fascist, apocalyptic future that was supposedly indirectly Donatello's doing, where we had to watch three of our turtle boys literally die? I can never forget, at least. That episode gave me nightmares for a bit when I was a kid. Did I still end up watching it? Of course! I needed to see how the Shredder ended up getting defeated!

I could go on and on about this series (and I have, if you're someone I know in real life and are a victim of my ramblings of it), but I'll cut this short here for all of your sakes. I'll just end it with this: thank you, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird— and 4Kids Entertainment—for giving us a show that would stick with me for so long. I don't know where I'd be without the teenage mutant ninja turtles. It's literally the show that became my gateway to Marvel! So, instead of arguing about which version is better than which, let's take today to celebrate these idiot turtle boys for what they are: an amazing, creative story that brings us all together with one universal truth: Things Change, but that may not always be a bad thing.

Random things that came from being a sheltered child with enough introspection to come to hilarious conclusions:

My mom was pretty strict about TV shows I could watch when I was little, but I managed to watch a LOT of That 70s Show reruns behind her back. I didn’t risk this with any other show I wasn’t allowed to watch aside from the occasional episode of Billy and Mandy when I knew she wouldn’t come in, but I was willing to risk it all for this one because my 9 year old brain was (as my 24 year old brain is) crazy hyperfixated on the 70s, and seeing references to Gerald Ford and disco on TV gave me unparelled levels of dopamine. Despite this, I did not at the time, know what weed was. I don’t know when I finally made the connection that the circle was them getting high as shit, but I spent years as a child thinking that a main aspect of the show was just sometimes they would sit in a circle and be really silly and people in the 70s just did that. When I told my bf this story he asked what I thought all the smoke was and 1) both my parents smoke so I didn’t really associate it with Drugs™️ and also 2) there were so many getting crap past the radar references to smoke filled hippie vans in kids cartoons I honestly just thought fog machines where really popular in that time period.

My mom used to watch The Oprah Winfrey Show every single day, so when I didn’t have school, I would help my mom clean the living room and watch Oprah with her. One episode she had on a doctor who quizzed the audience on how much people knew about health. There was one part where she brought up sexual health and my mom fastforwarded through it and told me not to look. The only thing I saw was the phrase “how often should you have sex” and I racked my brain trying to figure out what it meant. The only thing I knew was that sex meant if you were a boy or a girl, so I eventually came to the conclusion that “having sex” meant changing from a boy to a girl or vice versa like certain fish could do. I was slightly confused that humans could do this and no one ever told me, but I assumed it was something you only learned when you’re older and my mom would tell me when she thought I was ready. Anyways I’m nonbinary now, and I blame Oprah.

My parents are both against organized religion due to their own religious trauma, but my grandma is a very devout biblical scholar, so they decided when we visited her for the holidays, I should go to the Christmas service with her to make her happy. This of course, lead to me being talked at for hours as if I knew anything about Christianity beyond vague cultural osmosis. Honestly I didn’t find it overly confusing, but I did assume that when the priest said Jesus was born in Bethlehem, that they where talking about Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and came to the conclusion that my grandma loved Jesus so much because he was born so close to where she lived and felt a connection to him because of it. Also I had zero frame of reference for when Jesus was born, and when the angel told Mary and Joseph to follow the north star, I thought that he got the idea from the underground railroad.

I watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem today.  This is the first time I’ve gone to a movie on opening weekend in a loooooooong time, but the advertising had actually gotten me pretty excited.

For perhaps the very first time in my life, it made the turtles look like actual teenagers.  Despite the name, and despite characters often calling them teens/children, the writing has almost always portrayed them as older.  The 1990 movie, which still remains my absolute favorite bit of turtles media, had Raphael’s ‘disguise’ when he goes out be a trenchcoat and fedora.  I love him, but that’s not a teenager.

It takes a lot more than just riding skateboards and using slang to make that look like anything but a grown adult.  The other cartoons and movies have also felt like adults in their own way.

But here they really felt like kids.  The actors that were chosen are all actual teens themselves, and the writing captured the impulsivity and chaos and earnestness of being young.  Not in the sense “kids are dumb, so we’ll make them idiots” which I see a lot elsewhere, but in the sense “kids make mistakes, because they’re kids.”  I’ve heard they were given a lot of room to improv, and if so then kudos all the way around because it all felt natural.

I also really loved the art style.  It’s not quite as mind-blowing as the Spider-Verse films (They changed the game) but it really managed to capture the energy and movement and also the uniqueness of all the different mutants and character designs.

The music was where things really shone through.  Again, not as mindblowing as Spider-Verse (Look, you are never going to top “What’s Up Danger?” so let’s just move on) but it was worked into the film seamlessly.  Particularly all of the rap and hip-hop, which worked in-and-of-itself but also connected back to the very origin of the turtles where they were supposed to be immersed in inner city black and hispanic culture before they were forced to change them to ‘surfer boys’.

My only criticism for the changes to the backstory is the idea to make Splinter a completely random NYC rat before touching the ooze.  Different adaptations have varied on the exact backstory, but he’s always had a prior connection to martial arts and a heritage that he passes on to the turtles.  Either as a pet of Hamato Yoshi, or Yoshi himself transformed into a rat.  Here he’s just “a rat” and he learned martial arts from watching How To videos.  That idea is pretty lacking.

I’d be interested in seeing more of this same story, and if we’re going to continue to get more reboots of classic franchises from Hollywood I wish they would all bring this level of energy and creativity to it.

Heyo, my lovelies! Another night of watching Voltron: The Third Dimension! And unlike yesterday, where I watched the episode TWICE, I just watched this one once and kept pausing it to take my notes. Made it a little easier on me. So, without further ado, let's go!

Episode two, and I still don’t trust Zarkon. And that glorified calculator is annoying. His idea of maintaining peace sucks. Damn shame Keith wants to follow his orders despite KNOWING that calculator is wrong about how to handle things. Though it is amusing that Lance practically ghosted Keith and ignored his call.

Coran mentioning that Lance’s village was destroyed by Lotor and Zarkon threw me for a loop. Was that mentioned in DotU? I actually can’t recall. And Zarkon’s timing for dropping in. Somehow that’s expected? Yet amusing. I still don’t trust him, even if he amuses me.

“I know it’s still hard for you to think of me as one of the good guys.” Good news, Zarkon, I don’t think of you as a good guy. You know why? THE LACK OF TRUST! And I don’t think that lack of trust has anything to do with the potential of me seeing this as a kid. Because I don’t know how things go and if I did see it, I don’t remember. But that lack of trust? Guys, I’m almost thirty. I’ve spent most of my life watching cartoons. This ain’t my first rodeo.

Zarkon bringing out the CD with some sort of data on it, though, is amusing. I mean, I know CDs. I REMEMBER CDs. I actually still use CDs at times. But it definitely shows how dated this show is and I love it.

Keith finishing the list of components that Lotor needs, he just sounds so done with Zarkon’s shit.

“These kids are doing the best they can.” I mean. I probably would’ve said the same thing. But I’m amused at Zarkon practically calling the pilots as kids. Only Pidge is probably still a kid. Five years later? I think he’s seventeen. Last I checked, seventeen’s still a kid.

I’m with Hunk on not expecting Zarkon as a minister of peace.

I love Lance calling Red “Kitty Cat”. It’s adorable.

Why is watching Lance plug Red in to fuel up so hilarious?

Who the hell are these pirate dudes? “Gotta get out of here while there’s still a here to get out of.” Little dialogue moments like this are brilliant and fun. Seeing the pirates dance their little victory dance is amusingly adorable, though. Even if their victory was short lived.

Okay, so, another moment of Chibi feeling dated. Lance speaking and a box showing up with his face in it as the lion flew on the rest of the screen, I am once again reminded of my days of playing Star Fox on the Super Nintendo. And it amuses me. I’ll be honest, so far, this show isn’t perfect (I mean, no Voltron show is perfect, they all have their flaws), but it’s amusing, and I like some of how they do the images and showing stuff. It’s intriguing and kinda takes me back.

“It’s a lion! I mean, it’s a space ship! I mean… I don’t know! Just shoot it!” I mean, she’s not wrong on any of that. At least she got over the panic enough to get them to shoot at the lion. Though. I’m gonna cheer for Lance still. Even if he announces his attacks. Yup. Welcome to the 90s of cheesy dialogue and attack shouts. But it’s fun. And classic.

“You better quit biting us!” “Yeah, or we’ll tell Commander Doom!” Not very threatening.

“Wow! We scared him off!” “Yeah, must be your naturally repulsive personality.” Oof. Burn. Gotta admit, I’m loving the burns in this show.

Ooh, ancient archives seems interesting. And showing the yellow lion to be in a sort of Sphinx-like structure is an interesting touch. A bit on the nose and obvious to enemies flying over, but interesting nonetheless.

The glyphs down in the archives being connected to the lions is intriguing.

Watching Lance fight, I did not expect a cannon to pop out of Red’s back. Unexpected, but definitely nifty.

“But a system is only as good as the guy running it. Which in your case means it stinks.” I mean. Lance ain’t wrong. Hopefully.

“We’ll see about that, Lion Boy.” Lotor, creativity skipped a generation, didn’t it? Or a lot of them. Can’t even come up with a good insult?

Lotor laughing sounds even more like Tim Curry than just the voice. Seriously. I can’t unhear Tim Curry.

Also. Oof on Lance being captured.

Hah! Lotor giving no fucks and ready to get the lions out and help Lance. Good on you, Princess! Don’t disobey those hearts! Screw the calculator’s orders!

Also, seeing them go to their lions. I just noticed how small the cockpits are. Wowza. That is cramped. But, it is nice seeing all the lions launch.

“Who dares fire upon my command ship?” The lions of Voltron, bitch! That’s who! Get wrecked!

Ooooooh. Maximus or whatever that guard bot was called. Intriguing that it’s being turned into a robeast. But, at least they’re not wasting too much time to form Voltron. Though seeing them as Voltron. It’s like someone just took a Voltron toy and was working with it in stop motion almost. It’s amusing. But it was probably skilled stuff for CGI in that era. So, no judgment. Just amusement.

Did Lotor just say “dream dimension”? Huh. I'm a little interested in finding out what this is.

Well then. Here we go! I survived yet another episode of V3D!

Jake's POV

When happiness plays a part in your life you begin too view the world as a different place.

Chapter 4

Once home after a wonderful night Sophie put Jake too bed, as it was the weekend he got too stay up a little later. After brushing his teeth he claimed into bed Sophie kissed him on the forehead and wished him a good night. She made her way back down stairs, Victor had just made some hot chocolate. They both sat down enjoying each others company, after finishing their drinks they two went off too bed.

The next morning Jake woke and went down stairs and put on his favourite cartoons. Sophie came down the stairs her heart warmed as she saw Jake sat watching his cartoons.

Sophie: good morning my baby

Jake: morning mummy

Sophie: what does my favourite little boy want for his breakfast

Jake: can I have chocolate cereal

Sophie: coming right up

Sophie went into the kitchen and switched on the coffee machine, while the coffee was brewing she got Jake's cereal ready. She called him into the kitchen and came running over giving her a big hug. Once Jake had finished he went too have a wash and brush his teeth.

Jake: mummy, can we go too the park today?

Sophie: I don't see why not, I'll bring us a little picnic

Jake: yay, park and picnic

Victor: someone's in a good mood

Jake: mummy said we could go too the park and bring a picnic

Victor: that sounds wonderful, it's the perfect weather for it today

While it was a little bit chilly outside that didn't stop Jake from having fun at the park. While Jake was playing Sophie and Victor got some food and drinks out placing them on the blanket, Sophie called Jake over and he came running over too them. Just as they were about too leave the park, Mark and Stacey came walking over with the two girls. Playing happy familys it was so fake you could see it a mile off.

Jake: mummy, mummy, look there is that horrible man

Sophie: it's okay Jake, let's just ignore them and go too the car

Jake: but... Look he's got little kids with him he didn't want me but wants them

Jake started too get upset tears running down his face, Victor scooped him up in his arms holding on too him.

Victor: it's okay son, your with me and mummy, we love you so very much

Sophie: daddy's right, you are our special little man

Jake started too calm down a little but was still holding on too Victor, as they were walking towards the car Mark saw them and came over. He decided too show off his new family in their faces but Victor wasn't having any of it.

Victor: why don't you just go back too your fake family and leave us alone, you walked out on this little boy now he's got someone who truly loves him.

Mark: you think you can be is dad? I'm going too fight for him too be back in my life.

Victor: just try it and see how far you get because with my connections you won't get past the first step.

Mark: who the hell do you think you are!!!

Victor: I'm a CIA agent that's who I am

Marks face dropped at what Victor had just said, he slowly walked away holding his head down. Sophie and Victor got Jake into the car they decided too take Jake for some ice cream. When they arrived home Sophie and Victor talked about moving away from duskwood. They sat Jake down and talked too him about the possible move.

Jake: I don't want too, I like it here please mummy, daddy can we stay

Sophie: what do you think dear?

Victor: Jake is settled here, why don't we see how things go and stay

Jake: yay, we don't have too move

Sophie: he does love it in duskwood

Victor: and don't worry about Mark if he tries anything he will regret it

Sophie: I just want him too stay away from us, especially Jake

Victor: I will make sure he does don't worry my love

As the time went on Victor made sure that Mark would stay away from his family he told him if he ever came near them again he would have him arrested.

As the years went on Mark kept too his word and stayed away from Sophie and Jake. Victor kept a close eye on him making sure he really was staying away, Jake was about too start high school he was a little nervous but excited. When he arrived he stood outside the building just looking at everyone going inside. Just as he was about too go in a girl bumped into him causing her too drop her books on the floor.

Jake: I'm so sorry, let me help you

MC: no, it was my fault was t looking where I was going, I'm MC

Jake: I'm Jake, nice too meet you MC

So I have a friend who is autistic. Do you have any ideas on how the Wachowski boys would deal with someone who is autistic? I know autism is a spectrum, and it varies between individuals.

Yeah, it would be hard to know how the boys would deal with someone on the spectrum, specifically because there are so many different ways it can present in any one person. It'd be impossible to cover them all.

My daughter has autism. She's 14, but emotionally is probably closer to about 7 year old. (She presents younger than her age, due to her behaviors.) She likes watching cartoons meant for younger kids, and carries around a plush or two (which ones tends to change as she cycles through her various obsessions). She's verbal, but still very hyperfixated on her own interests so conversations aren't quite as back and forth as they could be, especially if she's not interested in whatever the other person is talking about. She's interactive, but also likes to spend a lot of time doing her own thing in her room. (She's becoming quite the artist!) She loves to swing and ride her bike, and lately she's been playing a lot of Pokemon Sword on the Switch.

So I'll use her as our "new friend" for the boys.

Knuckles really likes spending time with her, mostly because she's not a motormouth like a certain brother, and doesn't use words he doesn't understand like another brother. They spend a lot of time at the park, swinging and climbing the playset. He likes how they don't have to talk, they're comfortable in the shared silence. He feels comfortable around her, and respects her honesty, no matter how blunt because she never says anything she doesn't whole-heartedly mean. But sometimes she says something so off-the-wall, yet so honest, it makes him let loose a big belly laugh. He is very protective of her, and he often holds her hand while they are out--especially near the road--to make sure she doesn't get hurt. (She isn't as attentive to her surroundings as she should be, sometimes.) Of all three boys, he's the one who connects with her the best.

Sonic loves to race with her--either while she's on her bike (and he makes sure to watch out for her) or on foot. They talk about Pokemon all the time, and draw comics together. Sometimes they play Switch games together, but she's not as good at the ones he likes, so he's content either letting her win, or helping her get better. Other times he just sits next to her as she plays. He's mostly a big blue ball of encouragement for her, but her lack of interaction sometimes frustrates him. His patience can sometimes wear thin--especially when she does nothing but talk about the one Pokemon she's obsessed with--but he's never rude or cruel. He jokes with her constantly, and loves to make her laugh.

Tails also talks Pokemon with her, and the two have a competition to make up new Pokemon critters to show each other. They have 'battles', which essentially is just the two of them yelling out moves and describing the battle until they collapse into fits of laughter in the backyard. He feels a bit of a kindred spirit with her, as she was "born different" just like him, but, being a problem solver, he wants to try and help her with anything she may struggle with. He also tries to teach her something every time they see each other, even if it's just some new fact about an animal.

I think their interactions would differ depending on the individual, but this is how I envision them interacting with my daughter.

I remember seeing one of those Video Nows when I was a kid. And I even saw one at a Goodwill store once. Normally the original Video Now does it in Black and White, but with Video Now XP, they have it in Color. But normally I do not own a Video Now like Original and XP. But I do remember as a kid using a GBA Video cartridge which lets you watch shows on your GBA. My sister and I used one like we got two Video Cartridges. We have the Strawberry Shortcake one which only has 2 episodes from the first season like Meet Strawberry Shortcake and Springtime in Strawberry Land. And we got a Cartoon Network collection Volume One which only has 4 episodes from each Cartoon, like Dexter's Lab: Dexter's Rival, Ed Edd n Eddy: Oath to an Ed, Billy and Mandy in Billy and the Bully, and a Johnny Bravo episode which I forgot the name of the episode, it's where Johnny goes to the beach and gets in love with a woman until he gets connected to a Shark and starts surfing to win the girl until the girl got back with the men he broke up with. And Johnny is now connected with the Shark which that episode is kinda silly. But Game Boy Advance Video brought me so many memories. Even though the sound quality is a little blurry but I can still listen to the sound fine.

I remember her. Back when I used to watch Happy Tree Friends, I saw Lumpy looking at a poster where it shows a contest of New Characters that are gonna be in the videos. And Lammy won so they got her with Mr. Pickles. But I wasn't a fan of the Pickle because he acts out of control murdering someone for no reason. That's why they made the episode called Bit of a Pickle.

Yeah I thought these Pizza Parlors were really good. Especially Peter Piper's. And I like your choice that you would like Bacon as toppings because I like Bacon on my pizza as well as for Ham and Sausages and pepperoni on my Pizza. It's just that I'm a big meat person when it comes to having pizza. And I bet it would be nice if we could split the halves of the pizza. Saying I get four and you get four. And that's why I adore cartoons! They always have this cute image to them but man can they go hard with the messages. And people say cartoons are just for kids. Boy! I wish adults would watch cartoons more because you get emotional messages in the most wholesome ways! There's a lot I love about Ducktales. The diversity is one. Scrooge is all around the world making connections and learning about new cultures. The generational trauma that needed to be healed. The family issue's, the way Louie didn't forgive his mother for leaving them when they were eggs. I'm pretty sure he never did forgive her but he gave her a chance to prove herself. Which I adore! Forgiveness isn't always necessary, but you can still continue a relationship.

But what I love the most about Ducktales, is how they handled Donald's anger issues. A little back story to me, I'm always the calm and shy one. The one that is always polite and helps others calm down. Unfortunately, this means I've seen people with anger issues come to me for help or as a safe haven. And I'm more than glad to be one for them. But I've been in different relationships with men who have anger issues. It's not fun and everytime they drained me dry. The most memorable thing one of them said to me, speaking from memory, "You better stop questioning why I like you or else I really will get mad." After telling him a girl called me wierd "I'm gonna kill her!" When someone made me cry, "They're going to hell." Goes off to find them. I always thought they were being sweet until I realized they can always turn their anger towards me. And one day they got so mad, they took their anger out on me. Saying things they regretted later but the damage was done.

I know anger is a part of life and an emotion that helps protect you. It's a beautiful emotion that helps you get treated the way you deserve to be treated. Anger helps you gain what you deserve in life. But it can go too far and break relationships. In Ducktales, I adore how they handled the topic! Donald was always the type to get mad at the slightest things and would blow up on anything and anyone. So to get a proper background to why he's like that, it hit home. He lost loved ones in the past and gained trust issues. So he feels like the world is against him. Finding the root to his issue was a big moment. And then the way they handled it further was fantastic. Donald took anger management and they didn't get rid of his anger. No, instead they helped him embrace that anger. They helped him use that anger to keep his loved ones and himself safe. He learned how to use his anger properly and how to let it out in healthy ways. I love that! And I wish all the people who took their anger out on me watched this show as a guide to the right direction.

I didn't know if I was going to leave my thoughts on this one because I feel like I've been talking your ear off lately but then you almost made me CRY so here I am.

I'm gonna start at the beginning.

Holla for sleepy morning nekkidness, and shower nekkidness with the flagrant use of too many bubbles. But also, wowowow so toot rottingly sweet, you weren't kidding. I need a dentist. I was grinning into my blanket the whole time.

I love love love Billy getting spoiled. I want him to have all the expensive soaps and never have to wash his own hair again. It's what he deserves. It's what we deserve.

Steve's ridiculous PJs are a great runner and I hope they continue to make their appearances when possible.

I'm so so happy he finally got to fully not feel alone!! But now he feels even lonelier because he KNOWS what he's missing. Ugh!

The Christmas movies! Christmas is my favorite holiday and I subject my house to All The Movies. The connection to some of the only happy memories Billy has of his childhood being watching Christmas movies with his mom... I'm glad he gets to continue to build new ones.

The gifts!! The blanket accidentally being the most thoughtful gift ever!! The little bit about Steve trying to wash the old one and it falling apart but now he's replaced it with a much better blanket... My heart. Him having his own hoodie now that smells like his alpha!! When my husband and I were dating, we would exchange blankets every so often to always have something that smelled like the other, and that sort of thing fits so well here, ESPECIALLY with these two. Steve doesn't have to be alone anymore.

THE NECKLACE. How dare you bring tears to my eyes! Home isn't California anymore, it's Steve now. UGH!!!! I just!!! Gah!!!

Okay so first of all, it's always so funny to me when you guys use my name in an ask because I always go "oh shit this is serious, they're calling me BY NAME" and idk. That's just funny to me.

Also there's no such thing as "talking my ear off" regarding fics? I regular text some of my readers just to be like OH MY GOD I HAD A THOUGHT and to leave super long voice memos basically rambling about nothing except super tiny details that nobody gives a shit about except for me (like what color Steve's golf shorts would be if he was playing at a summer club while Billy was the landscaper? they would be plaid with pink pinstriping)

Anyway.

I KNEW the chapter would be cavity inducing. I kept drawing out that morning wake up cuddle scene and pre-nakey shower scene and thinking "is this cheesy?" and then just kept writing because it was EXCELLENT.

Idk why I HC that Steve constantly has terrible pajamas. I think its the rich but absent parents thing. Like "oh we didn't know what to get you for your birthday, so here ,have this nice set of pajamas". Instead of getting socks for christmas Steve got pajamas so he has like a dozen pairs of Old Man Pajamas and then the occasional super fuzzy super dorky pair he buys for himself.

Christmas movies are my favorite too! Every year I watch all three Grinch movies (the OG, the Jim Carrey masterpiece and the newer cartoon one), all three Santa Claus movies, the old Rudolph and Frosty animated ones and then Die Hard (its a christmas movie!) on repeat all December long.

This year I found "Santa Jaws" which looks terrible as fuck, but involves a shark wearing a santa hat while terrorizing a local community and that just... that just seems like exactly all my favorite things so I think that's going to work its way into the rotation.

And YES Home isn't california anymore. Home is where Steve is. No matter if thats hawkins or cali or anywhere in between. It's literally basically a marriage proposal.

Yo does anyone really hate how teen dramas are based EXCLUSIVELY around high school? Like, secondary school is really fuckin shit no cap. Basis of all my trauma, insecurities, shit like dat. And i was so excited cuz id be bingin shows like victorious and icarly (which obvs were crazy ass premises for bein nickelodeon shows lmao) and be hyper excited for crazy stuff to go down. But nah, just long, grey hours of being forced in a classroom in a subject you dont like, teachers who dont like you, and people who are annoyin af. But producers were like "yo, THIS is where all the ideas and moneys are goin".

I personally never really watch reality dramas, mainly cartoons, anime, adult swim shows, sci fi, underground movies, that stuff. I just dont see the appeal in somet as mundane as family issues, or workplace shit (unless its a comedy lmao) and DEFINITELY not school stuff. Like secondary school is so borin my dayz fam. None of that crazy shit happens ever, not even in college rn (college in the uk is the last 2 years of high school). Most people are focused on revision and schoolwork cuz everyones failing and if your not failing youve got ur job. If u dont got ur job ur being normal and doin shit like hobbies, hanging out w ur mates, shit like that. We dont really have en masse parties every week cuz those take the piss. Like a 600 quid speaker got broke at a motive i was at and we all got kicked out lol. And were not that focused on doin drugs all the time cuz thats expensive af, even if u want to. Were all poor lmao.

We do talk about it alot, sure but like, i think its cuz life imitates art to a degree. Weve always been doin taboo things, but because the skins lifestyle is practically glamourised people wanna do it more. And no lie, its fun. But all the baggage attached being glamourised to... naurrr man. I know mates who are recovering from bein addicted and on tt theres ppl talkin about the health issues they got from that life. Yo like i was w people who were practically about that shit and after that sesh i never talked to them again cuz they scared me that much (was fun tho, chillin in the woods at 10pm). Eh moderation n tingz ig.

Nah u know what would be great - shows based around teens, but not in high school. Like all i wanna do is get out of college and go to uni somewhere else cuz ded city and shit place init. Its like handcuffs, even tho im in like 3+ hours most days. I just think to myself on how, compared to shows like euphoria, skins, sex education (not even a bad show just for comparison), movies like Tekkonkinkreet, city of god, smoke signals, books like wonder all hit DIFFERENT. Like DIFFERENT DIFFERENT. It is mad. These are all media which talks about tweens, teenagers, young adults but completely seperated from school. Not in the unrealistic sense either, grounded to reality, whether it be in a realistic or surreal sense. They also connect to me more and make me more interested than a majority of these high school shows out here.

For example, smoke signals, a story about two indigenous boys from the coer d'alene reservation who travel across phoenix when one of the kids dad dies to get his ashes. That movie was insanely good. INSANELY good. I felt such a connection and my nerdy ass was analysing motifs and themes real time because the composure is so good. Themes and emphasis circulate around the nature of memories, dreams, stereotypes, culture and much more in the realms of the indigenous community in the US. Its been a year since i watched but i need to watch it again. Like as someone who has had a pretty shit upbringing, been kicked out by mum, have estranged my dad for ages until i came to live at his, the concept of what makes a family, how you see your parents compared to others or the culture really hits home, especially bein 2nd gen zambian uno. Like the emphasis on parenthood and the righteousness of parents is WILD.

Another movie i also wanna talk about is city of god too. Way more darker and grittier than smoke signals, taking place in Brazil instead of the south. Its a movie about the coming of age of many youths, specifically an aspiring photographer and an evil ass villain growin up in the favelas of rio de janeiro. It explores the cultural issues of gentrification, gangs, drug abuse, crazy ass shit which is exposed to kids at a young ass age. From what i remember its narrated from the photographer, and it makes SOOO MUCH sense bro. Like the dramaticisation of characters, the loose ends, how some characters fizzle out of the story, fizzle in, even the mindset of some really reminds you that this is comin from the eyes of the few who did survive - the photographer. He literally wants to be a journalist bro, like ofc hes gonna sensationalise. Whereas the thing in euphoria, whilst it was kinda cool with rue narrating everything, especially cinematography wise, kinda didnt make much sense as it went on. Like how u know about cals childhood girl, how (hate how he got an episode and not his sister or somet). Nate defo didnt tell her lmao.

What constrasts greatly with skins n euphoria n i think what breaks euphoria is how w skins, these guys are all a friend group, at least from what i know only watchin 1st gen. Whereas with euphoria its a weak link tyin all these guys. Euphoria falls in that sense cuz these guys arent really that close and are too different to be close. Not really in personas but like, maddy in season 1 literally just knew rue cuz she od thats it bro. If they were a close friendship group i think it wouldve worked way more. Like, call me crazy, if nate was established as a mate to rue who became a massive dick as we see in season 1 it would make a lot of sense as to why rue knows so mucha bout him. Hell it would probably clue us more into why hes so villainous (love that word). Cuz in city of god, for example, the photographer was in close proximity to the lil dice (my ass finally looked up his name 😂) by literally growin up on the same neighbourhood as him and even having so much respect as to have him photograph his gang.

Man u dont understand, my fav parts in euphoria was when the girlies were having fun and just bein themselves bro. Like the maddy kat and jules trio is something so beautiful even tho short lived. Hell, its so weird how theres the lack of proper proper friendships in euphoria. Sure u get banter and them acting cool, acting sexy, but never really acting stupid or dumb, or bein embarassing around each other apart from say jules and rue in season 1. Like even adults do that, and it shows the comfort ppl got around each other. Like jules and kat knew each other from summer camp or some shit, SO MUCH couldve been done with that. Couldve been that she was a mate of kat as well as rue, the bridge between rue and maddy, cassie, kat, that type of ish uno. Theyre both pretty alt as well, couldve had an episode of them finding their people. Euphoria is hole nother hellhole i will rant abt when i care but thats just one example.

I just find it dumb how this is really wat teen life is reduced too. Sure we have sex, do drugs, party, get into bad things but not ALL the time. And i kinda hate how that is what determines "fun" really, nowadays. Most of me and my mates times is spent in waterstones for gods sake 😂 there are some good shows which are pretty balanced on all aspects like on my block, and it shows that makin teen dramas about teen life really works. Brings in a more diverse array of backgrounds, knowledge. Yo id kill to be in a writing room for a show. Thatd be sick

Okay so I mostly use the Peter / Spiderman from the 2017 cartoon aka Marvel's Spider-Man. Because this would be the same one in the same verse for the Avengers we write for.

Peter attends Horizon High but before he transferred schools he went to the same one as Nina. (Nina and Brook in the start tots au)

Tony knew Peter's identity first because of the time they meant and interacted it wasn't hard for him to connect the webs (ha!) between the spider hero kid and the awkward teen kid that both fanned over him in the same manners.

As Spidey Peter accidentally lost Cap's shield in a villain's home, HE DID GO TO THE DOOR TO ASK FOR IT BACK! but yeah that turned into a mess.

In star tots au he would for sure notice that Brook was getting bullied because...he also got bullied before he got to transfer schools. He joins Nina on the revenge for Brook quest though.

When it comes to Nina and Brook they are basically his sisters. Nina and he share interests in heros and science gadgets. Not to mention you never want to be thier target when it comes to a sassing marathon. They are both bad on thier own but when they can bounce off each other?

Peter loves getting to be a nerd in another sense with Brook. They like a lot of similar book series and have a sort of book club. They watch the movie adaptions and annoy Nina because they don't shut up about everything that was done wrong.

Not from this show but other things that I think fit well, Petes birth parents were in SHEILD as agents. But of course, died he doesn't know about the connection but a few members of the team have found out. So Peter having a spot with the team now is kind of a nice way to have something he lost. I don't plan him, ever finding out. Just a fun connection for him.

Peter often dose do a lot of solo work getting work outside of the whole avengers stuff but if he in need of help he's asking Nina and Brooke to come with him

Tony's the one who brought Spider-man in to the tower, he went around in full costume for about six months.

Nina and Brook were the first he told his identity to, likely holds more weight in the star tots au, but it was still a big moment for him. he still keeps the whole secret identity for a bit longer before feeling full comfortable with sharing it with the rest of the team

Really really really needs and wants Steve to like him to but he feels like he aint doing enough there. He feel the same towards Tony as well but least with Tony the being smart thing helps.

Pete actually has helped Nina study a lot for school. And she dose the same they are study buddies.

Peter walks on eggs shells the most around Peggy, he was raised by his Aunt May so he's good about manners. But he gets a bit nervous on how to properly be respectful to the Peggy Carter.

Brook has someone to share cursed food with because Peter is one a growing boy and already eats trash and apparently likes gross food combos u-u yes im disappointment but hey someone on Brooks side at last.
