Thanks @spicyblue
Rules: answer + tag nine (or however many) people you want to get to know better and/or catch up with!
Favorite color: Purple, it was purple even before my love of Hawkeye. Dark green is a close second.
Last Song I listened to: Legends Never Die by Reid Harvey
youtube
Last Film I watched: The Beekeeper(2024) with Jason Statham, Jeremy Irons, Josh Hutcherson and Jemma Redgrave. It was full of tropes/cliches but I still enjoyed it.
Currently reading: Besides fic I'm partly into Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan.
Currently watching: the only show with new episodes I'm watching is 9-1-1 and Doctor Who. Also rewatching Eureka, SWAT and older seasons of Doctor Who.
Currently craving: I wouldn't mind a lemon sour cream pie right now. Or matzo brei but I had it for dinner two nights already.
Coffee or tea: While I love the smell of coffee I only drink tea 99% of the time.

“The French social theorist Henri LeFebvre, writing shortly before the May 1968 student demonstrations in Paris, which catalyzed a wave of protests and strikes and brought France to a standstill, famously declared a ‘right to the city’ — a right to have a say in the shaping of the urban environment and to live in a place where use and pleasure are privileged over profit. A few decades later, the British social theorist and geographer David Harvey, amplifying the idea, argued that this right means more than simply access to urban resources: It is ‘the freedom to make and remake our cities and ourselves.’”

This is the trailer for a new documentary, “The Pollinators.” The national day of screening in the US is November 6. Here’s the link to a site that tells you where the documentary will be showing on November 6 in your area. Otherwise, the film is showing mostly at festivals and special screenings.
Here’s an excerpt from a description of the documentary from Sierra Club. The entire article is interesting, so read it if you have a moment.
The Pollinators opens under a predawn thread of red light along a highway near California’s almond orchards. Hundreds of wooden boxes, stacked like dresser drawers on the back of tractor trailers, are surrounded by a soft veil of honeybees. Bob Harvey, a beekeeper at Bob’s Bees, estimates 18,000 honeybee hives or 40 truckloads will arrive that day. Our food economy, at least $20 billion of it, relies on the movement of the managed honeybee—a domesticated import from Europe—pollinating about one-third of our entire food supply.
From the almond groves of the west to the apple orchards of Pennsylvania and the blueberry fields of eastern Canada, honeybees are shipped around the nation based on bloom time. The migration happens at night, after the bees tuck into their pale blue and white boxes for the evening. California has well over a million acres in almonds. Dave Hackenberg, of Hackenberg Apiaries, says to pollinate this area during the winter bloom requires nearly all of the US honeybee supply.
“Chemical companies figure we should eat corn, soybeans, and rice,” says Davey Hackenberg, a beekeeper at Hackenberg Apiaries, “and those don’t need to be pollinated, and that’s what they think we ought to live on. But if you like your fruits, your vegetables, your nuts, a lot of that stuff needs to be pollinated.”
Farming’s reliance on the managed honeybee is a growing problem as the honeybee population continues to decline. Samuel Ramsey, an entomologist at the University of Maryland, College Park, estimates 33 to 50 percent of all honeybee colonies in the United States are dying every year. The population is only held steady by splitting colonies. But Ramsey is clear: This method isn’t sustainable. Splitting honeybee hives is triage. It’s not a long-term solution.

27 and 36 for as many as you would like?
thank you a ton for the asks!! >:3c
27. What causes them to feel dread?
Nurse - Letting people down.
Modder - Harvey. Any mention of him, thoughts of him, at this point even the name causes her to feel dread.
Confidant - Thinking about her old team, or her past in general.
Cleaner - Causing people he cares about to be hurt. Guilt is a huge thing for him, and he has plenty of it.
Infiltrator - Disappointing her Mother. It’s very rare, but when it does happen she knows she’s done something terrible.
Beekeeper - Something happening to his bees. That’s pretty much it.
Wrestler - Failure. On any level.
Conductor - Realising he’s not the strongest around. Feeling like the weakest makes him panic and feel like me might be replaced.
Swindler - Not having plans. She needs things to be organised so she knows what she’s doing. Disorder and not being in control makes her panic.
36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
Nurse - Actively seeks it! Doesn’t really hesitate at all to seek it either
Modder - Seeks it, but with slight caution
Confidant - Doesn’t seek or wait, just kinda… avoids it.
Cleaner - Waits. He won’t flirt with anyone until they show interest in him first.
Infiltrator - Waits for it! It’s not a huge priority for her, so she’s not gonna look for anyone.
Beekeeper - Isn’t interested in romance at all. Avoids it completely.
Wrestler - Waits, but more because he’s not experienced in seeking it.
Conductor - Seeks it! A lot! He’s a useless romantic!
Swindler - Waits. She’s more used to people seeking romance with her, so she’s patient if it means she knows they’re interested.

FINAL POST!!                                          Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True
Tumblr media
It’s graduation week.  Four years of sharing album-of-the-week are over.  It’s important to wrap this up with a special album.  I’ve decided to go with one of the best debut albums ever, by one of my favorite musicians, for whom I have the utmost respect.  With this last album, I want to affirm that this effort was to support my daughter’s personal and professional interests in music (my aim was true).  Also, I wanted the graduation album to welcome her to the grown-up world of working for a living (”Welcome To The Working Week”).  And finally, since I’ve tied politics to so many of these albums, it feels appropriate - as President Trump continues to bring the country and perhaps the world to ruin (this week, by backing out of the Paris Climate Accord) - to close this project with the track, “Waiting For The End Of The World.”
1    "Welcome to the Working Week" 2    "Miracle Man" 3    "No Dancing" 4    "Blame It on Cain" 5    "Alison" 6    "Sneaky Feelings" 7    "(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes" 8    "Less Than Zero" 9    "Mystery Dance" 10  "Pay It Back" 11  "I'm Not Angry" 12  "Waiting for the End of the World"
Last week, T Bone Burnett’s name was one of those in the collaboration, and I mentioned his Academy Award winning work on the “Cold Mountain” soundtrack.  Well, Elvis Costello collaborated with T Bone to write the track “Scarlett Tide” for that soundtrack.  The collaborations Elvis has been a part of are numerous and, I’m sure, will go on and on.  He has made so much music in genres outside his punk-pop, new-wave origins that it defies categorization.  I recommend a Wikipedia search to keep track of it all.  Of late, what I have been most impressed with from Elvis is the musically collaborative TV show he did called “Spectacle: Elvis Costello with...”  I only saw a few episodes, but they were brilliant.  Check it out if you're so inclined.  It’s all available on DVD or BluRay.
In closing, I’d like to thank everyone who read my foolish posts (with especially large portions of thanks to those of you who occasionally corrected me) and everyone who listened along with us.  As a postscript, here is the entire list of 194 albums we listened to over this four-year project, and the date we started listening.  We started a little late, so we did two albums per week through the first summer session to try to catch up on the total count.  With occasional exceptions, the albums were pre-1999 (the year my daughter was born).  We followed some themes here and there, but mostly we just rocked out!
