Beverley Jones, the author of Wilderness, shared some of her perspective on the upcoming release of the show!
She said that an Autumn 2023 airdate is confirmed!
Here are some other key points:
Every writer has an idea of who they’d like to see playing their protagonist and honestly, Jenna Coleman was not at the top of my list. Liv is quite a physical, dark character and I wasn’t sure the gorgeous and petite Coleman could embody her rage and betrayal. Then in Spring 2022, I was privileged enough to sit in on a Zoom ‘table-read’, where the actors, in their various houses and hotel rooms around the world, appeared in their digi-boxes to read through episode one, and I was blown away by her amazing performance. Just before Christmas 2022, I was back in London at the Firebird editing suite to see a bit of the post-production and some key scenes from the early episodes, still in a raw state. I can tell you, when I saw Liv and Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) in their convertible, cruising into view against the panorama of the desert it was all I could do to keep my composure. (I’m not crying, you’re crying. I just have something in my eye…)
If I’m impatient to see the finished product I had no idea how excited the legions of dedicated Jenna Coleman fans would be. One of the most enjoyable things over the last year has been watching the memes on Twitter and Instagram, chatting to the devotees about the paparazzi snaps of the New York shoot as they get more and more excited for a release date. Hopefully we’ll please all the fans but even if we can’t, one thing’s for sure, I know it’s been, and is going to be, a hell of a ride!

The Telegraph
The Princess of Wales to lead summit on how children should ‘grow, think and behave’.
International experts will outline the importance of early years development in a ‘global listening exercise’.
The Princess of Wales has convened experts from 21 countries to consider how we “grow, think and behave throughout life” to build resilience in early childhood.
The event will bring together, for the first time, global leaders from across the field, including child and adult specialists as well leading academics, who will outline the scientific, economic and human benefits for prioritising the early years.
The symposium will be hosted by the broadcaster Fearne Cotton, who is a Shaping Us celebrity champion. It will include talks from Prof Jack Shonkoff, director of the Centre on the Developing Child at Harvard; Sara Rajeswaran, chief of staff at Aviva, a key member of the Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, which the Princess launched in March; and Prof Robert Waldinger, director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest-running studies of adult life.
Other experts taking part in a panel discussion include Eamon McCrory, professor of developmental neuroscience and psychopathology at University College London; Ashley John-Baptiste, a BBC broadcaster; Sophie Mort, a clinical psychologist and author; Neil Leitch, chief executive of the Early Years Alliance; and Beverley Barnett-Jones, associate director of the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory.

This is the fourth in our occasional series featuring luminaries of stage and screen with a strong personal and/or professional connection with Northeast England, inspired with thanks by @robbielewis. Previous profiles were of Jean Heywood, John Nightingale and Edward Wilson. This time, Sunderland born actor siblings Malcolm and Catherine Terris.
Malcolm Terris was born on January 11th, 1941, boarded at Barnard Castle School in County Durham, then worked as a cadet journalist at the Sunderland Echo before training as an actor.
He was active on British television from 1963, his style perfectly suited to larger than life characters, and is possibly best remembered for his role as Great War veteran and salt-of the-earth union leader, Matt Headley, in 34 episodes of the Tyneside interwar social-realism drama, When the Boat Comes In.
Tumblr media
As Matt Headley, with James Bolam (Jack Ford) in When the Boat Comes In.
His more than 120 recorded screen credits include a variety of British television programmes, including Fall of Eagles, Doctor Who (Horns of Nimon, 1979), Reilly: Ace of Spies, three separate roles in Coronation Street, Our Friends in the North, The Bill, and a regular role in Rockliffe’s Babies. His final appearance was in Midsomer Murders in 2011.
His big screen appearances include as ship’s surgeon, with Anthony Hopkins as Bligh and Mel Gibson as Fletcher Christian, in The Bounty (1984), with Ricky Tomlinson in Mike Bassett: England Manager, and in Dickie Attenborough’s Chaplin, which starred Robert Downey Jnr in the title role. He has also appeared on stage including in productions of Othello and in a Broadway production of Hamlet.
He passed away at the artistes residential care home, Denville Hall, on June 6th, 2020, aged 79.
Catherine Terris was born in 1948, and trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). She has been active in British television since 1972, appearing with her brother in seven episodes of When the Boat Comes In. Her other television work includes Z Cars, two roles in Coronation Street, Anna Karenina, Inspector Morse, Dalziel and Pascoe, Heartbeat, George Gently, and a regular role (15 episodes) in William and Mary with Martin Clunes and Julie Graham. She also appeared in the hugely successful feature film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
According to her page on the Coronation Street fan site, Corriepedia:
"...On stage she has appeared in productions of Faustus, A Rite Kwik Metal Tata, Andy Capp, Tight at the Back, Rose, Tom Jones, Billy Liar, Queuing for Everest and Into the Blue..."
Her most recent television screen credit is In the Club (BBC 2014-16) and latest big screen appearance was in the 2021 feature film, Martyrs Lane.

On the King estate was a wild ravine where a stream known by the name “Awiehawken” dashed over a part of the famous duel ground, “which has been called the most interesting spot in the county of Hudson.” There handsome young Philip Hamilton in the dawn of his manhood fell by the hand of George Eacker three years before his father met a like fate from Aaron Burr. His second on that occasion was his cousin Philip Church, who had recently returned from England with his father, where he had been studying at Eton. These two grand-sons of General Philip Schuyler are said to have been strikingly alike in personal appearance, and their remarkable attachment, which led them to be seen constantly together, is one of the pleasantest memories in the annals of the society of the period.
Source — Mills, Weymer Jay. Historic Houses of New Jersey. United Kingdom, J. B. Lippincott, 1902.
I find this description interesting because it's one of the very few descriptions we get of Philip's appearance, aside the general elucidation of “handsome”, and Hamilton who once described him as having common, basic, infant attributes—Additionally, he was only eight months old, and any of these said features he very well could and likely did grow out of;
It is agreed on all hands, that he is handsome, his features are good, his eye is not only sprightly and expressive but it is full of benignity. His attitude in sitting is by connoisseurs esteemed graceful and he has a method of waving his hand that announces the future orator. He stands however rather awkwardly and his legs have not all the delicate slimness of his fathers.
Source — From Alexander Hamilton to Richard Kidder Meade, [27 August 1782], Founders Online, National Archives. [Original source: The Papers of Alexander Hamilton, vol. 3, 1782–1786, ed. Harold C. Syrett. New York: Columbia University Press, 1962, pp. 150–151.]
Also particularly because this edition was published in 1902, before Allan McLane made the grave mistake of titling William's painting as Philip's in 1910. [x] Which would then spur others to make the same mistake like Ron Chernow, and even Phillip Thomas Tucker, who wrote; “A healthy and handsome dark-haired son Philip Hamilton was destined to be born on January 22, 1781.” [x] The presumption of dark hair likely originating due to William's shaded portrait.
But at the same time, Weymer Jay Mill was born in 1880 in Jersey City, and died in 1939. So, he was hardly talking from firsthand experience considering this would have been a whole 79 years after Philip's death, and P. Church who died in 1861. He also doesn't bring up any source material to this particular claim, so it can only be defined as hearsay. Although his claim isn't entirely far-fetched as a whole, P. Church visited his Hamilton relatives often and did seem to be close with his similar namesake cousin. He was definitely close to his Uncle Hamilton, He also served as an Aide-de-camp to for him between 1798-1800, while he was Major General and Inspector General of the Army during the Quasi-war. And both he and his cousin Philip were part of a literature society. It was a Literature Society composed mainly of boys in their early twenties. It looks as though the members belonged to the same generational group, and were all rather acquainted with each other. A reappearing pattern being that; most of them were from New York, studied law, and graduated from Columbia in the 1790s.
About this time, Mr. Jones was a member of a literary society, (of which the late Peter A. Jay was president,) composed, among others, of Nathan Sandford, Charles Baldwin, John Ferguson, Jas. Alexander, Rudolph Bunner, Goveurneur Ogden, the first Philip Hamilton, William Bard, Wm. A. Duer, Philip Church, John Duer, and Beverley Robinson; of whom the last five are the only survivors.
Source — Jones, William Alfred. Memorial of the Late Honorable David S. Jones: With an Appendix, Containing Notices of the Jones Family, of Queen's County. United States, Stanford and Swords, 1849.
But I still have yet to see any claims that could be more solid about Philip looking similar to P. Church. Either way, it is interesting and could be plausible. Although judging by the common depictions of P. Church, I wouldn't consider that a compliment!

she  was  raised  by  a  nanny  that  her  father  paid  for.  probably  out  of  guilt  for  not  being  around  more  than  a  few  times  a  year.
she  was  an  adult  by  the  time  she  found  out  she  has  a  big  brother.  she  learned  that  his  name  was  steve,  that  he  lived  in  hawkins,  and  was  told  to  stay  away  from  him  —  robert  basically  forbade  her  from  going  to  indiana.  did  she  listen  ?  fuck  no.  she  was  desperate  to  meet  her  brother,  to  really  know  him.
she  applied  for  the  local  community  college  in  hawkins  —  for  two  reasons  ;  because  community  college  is  all  she  can  afford,  and  because  it  gave  her  an  excuse  to  go  to  indiana  to  find  her  brother.
she’s  been  in  hawkins  for  two  months  and  still  feels  pretty  skittish.  she  hasn’t  told  many  people  her  last  name,  because  she  knows  steve  is  pretty  well  -  known  in  town.  she  calls  herself  beverley  jones,  takes  her  mom’s  last  name  to  hide  the  truth.
she is in nursing school ; and hopes to work at hawkins general one day.

Get to know me (and you)
Thank you for the tag @seiya-starsniper !
Three ships I really like right now:
Gaulcienne my beloved! Lucienne the Librarian and Gault the Shape-changing Dream from The Sandman. They are both so brave and competent and beautiful, and they don't deserve what Dream has put them through so let them find comfort with each other. That's it, that's the ship.
Ineffable Lackeys (or juniors or minions or whatever): Muriel my beloved and Eric the Disposable Demon from Good Omens. We're not sure exactly why Eric keeps reappearing each time he's killed, but he asks those questions even if it gets him blasted every time. Muriel seems so innocent and naive, but they are going to change the world by asking the right questions no one else would ever think to ask. They like Eric because he surprises them, and he likes them because they are kind to him.
Goldenheart: Ballister Boldheart and Ambrosius Goldenloins are the gorgeous *canonical* mlm racially diverse ship of my dreams, and! they get trauma caused by each other and Nimona thrown into their relationship just for extra spice! Can they work it out? Do you see the stars in their eyes? They will figure it out, but it will take more work than they expect and whenever they think Nimona is hindering, they'll find she's actually helped.
First ever ship: Jean Luc Picard and Beverley Crusher. On tumblr, Dreamling.
Last song: playing Tchaikovsky in the car atm, probably something from Romeo and Juliet.
Last movie: I'm going to count the Doctor Who Specials for this one. I am the Beep of the Meep. OMG. I love the DoctorDonna.
Currently reading: Gunshy by Sharon Lee. Go read anything by Sharon Lee. (Don't start with Duainfey, it's for later.)
Currently watching: Jessica Jones. David Tennant makes an excellent bad guy. It's Dark Marvel, which I didn't really know there was? but okay, it's very good.
Currently eating: just finished Cream of Wheat
Currently craving: cucumber on toast with mayo
Tagging with no pressure: @historyandqueershenanigans @witheringfears @tryanmybest @dreamsofapiratelife @lavenderlovers-stuff

Big finish should adapt Oh No it Isn’t into a proper on stage Pantomime. The bits in the real world are all o projected on to a screen at the beginning and then when the missle hits the music starts playing dramatically and then as it end the screen comes up and there laying in the stage is Lisa Bowerman dressed as Dick Whittington.
Ideal at this point Nicholas Cortney would walk on to stage dressed as a giant cat however he has sadly passed and thus can not. So may I suggest Jemma Redgrave or Beverley Cressman dressed as drag king cats. (Cressman also Played Ms Jones so I would add an interesting reason as to why Ms Jones likes Wolsey).
And it’s this massive amazing Pantomime. With fun and laughter bringing in bits from the book that the audio did not adapt and making the whole thing amazing.

Bev Jones is the author of “Wilderness.” the crime novel that has been adapted as a TV miniseries starring Jenna Coleman, which was filmed last year and is expected to be released by Amazon Prime sometime in 2023.
Jones talks about Jenna and the show in this interview and provides one piece of new information - Jenna will be playing the role with what Jones describes as a really good Welsh accent!
