The fact that over the years i keep fixating on tv shows with small fandom is killing me, why do i do that to myself ?

What's that feeling called when you watch something and it's not quite wtf? It's more like 'huh', and it makes think but it's deeper? Like the shit that peels back the layers of the human condition and it's just raw

if I had a nickel for every time I watched a netflix show from 2017 that was part supernatural horror & part cop drama, set in a small town in a European forest, and heavily featured plot lines about infidelity against blonde women, I’d have two nickels. which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

Anyone else watch Black Spot on Netflix? I'll be finishing up the first season tonight...I love the show's gloomy, small-town aesthetic!

i watched the chestnut man, deadwind, the valhalla murders and possibly one more i'm forgetting and the last semi similar show i'd seen mentioned was black spot. and i kept putting it off cause it was in french. no further comment.
but i finally sat down and watched it and honestly? i liked it more than i thought i would. i mean they introduced a gay man with a guinea pig that's nicknamed teddy bear. you got me sold there. but also people just kept dying. and surprise, it was murder. that was also murder. also murder happened here. look we'll kill someone on screen. oh boy, another murder! you're not going to believe this, murder. i liked that. they went in saying the crime rate was high in that town and they committed. y'all got a problem but damn. continue. tell me about the latest murder by all means.

What is a comfort movie/show for you?
movies: honestly any ghibli film but since were specifying comforting movies- from up on poppy hill, ponyo, porco rosso.
non ghibli: stardust, crazy stupid love, a room with a view, hp and the order of the phoenix, aaaaand I can’t think of any other comfort movies!
shows: extraordinary attorney woo, bake off, peaky blinders, d.p, business proposal, kleo, bloodhounds, black spot (or zone blanche in french)

I love how Black spot plays with expectations.
Watching the trailer I thought supernatural mystery , then I watched some episodes and thought okay like in Scooby doo it's a man in a mask at the end.
And now I am fully convinced that it's celtic supernatural stuff.
Love it 😁

Back spot (Zone blanche) theory
Lauréne and Sylvain share 50% dna.
When she asked him how old he is while they were kept in sanctuary, he said 18, and she said same, so they are same age.
identical twins have 100% same dna while fraternal twins share 50% of dna.
Which makes Lauréne and Sylvain twins.
That's why she was feeling all along special connection to 'creature'.
Also, they mentioned that in Sylvain's birth certificate or something his mother was stated 'unknown'
How and why did they get separated?
Sylvain didn't escape like his sis back to society, so he probably adapted certain forest ways since he lived all along there (hence that weird sound he makes probably his way of communication) and picked up on all those sort of healing and other forest things which are unfamiliar and unknown to common folk.
Lauréne said she found his dna because he would come to hospital to take medicine. Maybe he was coming to town all along and on one of those trips, he went to library and possible read (he was 18 when taken so we assume up till that point he was like any other human so he still knows how to read) that roman book and learnt about cernunnos and celtic day of dead and all those things which would explain terror and coincidences in dates. Or maybe he really did learn it from whoever kidnapped them in first place (that thing was probably same thing that romans met)
It is going to be interesting to see how they will wrap things up in season 3.
Please French, make new season. We need answers. Fandom theories are not enough.
