My mind has been whirling around so I deliver OC x Canon....

Blackleaf!! I've been thinking about them a lot... They're not canon in the AU, Nightleaf has a mate, however Blackstar, now also canonically, has a one-sided crush on Nightleaf, ever since they were loyal to Brokenstar together.

There's some story stuff I thought of, but since they can't be together,

Here's an AU of an AU where they are together and Nightleaf gives Blackstar a black rose or something Idk, Nightleaf likes giving people flowers and plants as sign of affection.

Oh yeah I might as well post this here for the 2 people who follow me and aren't already in discords with me,

I'm doing this:

In an attempt to improve my art, I started out just doing it for the sake of drawing something almost every day but now I think I'm gonna save these for whenever I feel I've made an improvement. Each day I am doing a different OC and I'm trying to lean towards having each character in an outfit I wouldn't normally draw them in

#1 was done with Orpheus Valor from Paragons

He was pretty fun to draw because I don't do masc characters very often. Also doing him for the underwear post was good because my GM, Gracie, and I had previously joked about him having scars where top surgery scars would be and just fully not being trans (there are other trans characters in Paragons I feel like we get to do a little bit of queerbaiting) so he was mauled by a bear.

#2 was done with Rabbit Leporidae from Thyrasylo.

Rabbit is normally dressed in either a suit or a frilly dress despite the fact that her name stems from the fact that her original design was wearing a bunny suit. Her shirt is a gag stolen from Thrilling Intent, I think it's funny for the most powerful spellcaster in my world to be wearing a spelling bee shirt. This was also cool because I got to draw her tattoos. Neither of her previous tokens really showed them off much so I thought I could use this opportunity to draw them. They don't have any real significance as of right now but I might ascribe some to them later.

#3 is with Ivy Blackleaf from Thyrasylo

Ivy is very fun to draw, this prompt made me finally design a logo for her Mom's cafe. I think I made it a little too close to the Olive Garden logo. Otherwise this was a fairly straightforward one, I did get to practice expression a little bit.

#4 with Roxanne De'Rulo from Crescent King

Messy hair Roxie is really fun to draw. I forced myself to make this a full body to try and practice feet, I don't think they look all that great. Her hand is a little bit fucked up but I am glad that I drew it at all, practice is important. Otherwise the only thing of note with this one is that I lost the original TRIPWIRE band logo and Redbubble doesnt let you redownload your uploaded designs which kinda blows.

#5 with Jayden Valekrave from Paranoia and Evi Halloran from Macrocosmos

The first one with a backdrop. This one was also voted on by a whole 37 people who took time out of their day to vote on my silly little Google form. Evi is in the background because she was the runner up and I probably wouldn't draw her anywhere else. I also think I didn't do justice to all the people who voted for Jayden. I super didn't have a reference pulled up and I am not skilled enough to draw from my imagination yet. Jayden's halberd, Dawnbreaker, having sunglasses on is the best part of this image. She is so silly. I also started drawing the eyes without having lineart on them here. Idk how I like it, we'll have to see.

#6 with Vernidaius Yxerei from Decent Into Avernus

Compression kinda fucked this one up a bit, but the name of the game with this one was experimenting with brushes. I kinda tried to get some of the texture that I really love out of Jackson FrameDodge of The3rdWheel's work. Unfortunately I dont really know how to shade properly so it's kinda all over the place, and harder to see on the skin, oops. This one had a pose reference initially but the legs ended up being too difficult for me to do so I just sorta covered one of them. I also super forgot to draw Vermi's scales here. The line-less eyes are still something I'm on the fence about. I think this background is a good bit better than the previous one, the only part of the previous one that I really ended up liking is the clouds.

Remi Hayes has worked hard all her life, after her parents died she had to settle all their debts and raise her younger brother all by her self. After her fiance cheats on her she inherits her uncle's moldering mansion and this might be the break she's needed. She can renovate and sell the house and finally have enough to set her brother up for college and a life of her own. The only hitch is her very hot rich doctor neighbor who seems to have it out for her... and in exchange for letting her use his driveway and road she'll help repair his fence... but what starts off as one kiss soon spirals. Then there are the rumors that he killed his wife and son and the fact that he can't ever go out in sunlight... did he really do it? What secrets are he hiding? When people around Remi start getting hurt... who is behind it? She begins hearing things in her house and feeling as if she's being watched.... when the truth reveals itself, will she be able to survive it or trust herself? This was a fun spooky dark romance set in a small town and I had a ton of fun reading it for spooky season. Dane and Remi are a interesting couple and the small town mystery was really interesting. It's a fun read and yes it's a dark romance so definitely check out the TWs before reading just in case!

summary of my AUs this far:

- whenever Feathertail is not in Riverclan at the beginning of Midnight, Stormfur is chosen instead of her by Oakheart (or Crookedjaw, since I generally put people that are more logical to me in charge of decisions in Star Clan without changing anything to the plot). However, if Stormfur is not in Riverclan either, which is the majority of cases, it’s Hawkfrost who is chosen.

- whenever Brambleclaw is not chosen in Midnight (generally if Feathertail was raised in Thunderclan, because she was also a chosen of the Tribe and so needs to go there) Squirrelflight and him don’t end up together, and she either gets with Ashfur or Spiderleg, depending on other variables in the AU. Once she ended up with Hawkfrost but that was because she was, herself, the chosen one of Thunder Clan, because Brambleclaw had been killed earlier in the story, and she fell for Hawkfrost the same way she fell for Brambleclaw. I’d like to add that in this AU Hawkfrost was also not evil for reasons you’ll discover by reading the AU.

- in AUs where Feathertail doesn’t die, Crowfeather is named Crowfoot after his parents (and first after his dad who’s dead because his mother’s still alive)

- in AUs where Crowfeather is not the father of the Three, whether Leafpool still is her mother or they are the kits of SquilfBramble, Jayfeather is named Jayflight after Squirrelflight instead of Crow.

- in AUs where Cinderpelt is not killed in Twilight (sounds weird to write that because it makes me think of the other Twilight lol) Cinderheart is named Blackkit then Blackleaf.

if you want other changes than just the prompt you’re giving me (such as, say, Mothwing being the Chosen One of Riverclan instead of either Feather or Storm or Hawk) precise it! I’ll try to find ways to weave it into the AU, and if I can’t I’ll just explain why.

prompt 28: blunt

If anyone asked him, he would quite proudly insist he was a pirate. A courier, if pressed. Maybe, in the right circles, a revolutionary. If they didn’t seem like assholes or knew nothing of the more annoying Malaguld stereotypes, he’d even admit he was a merchant. All of it was even true.

Oh, what did he sell? Well, this and that. Anything that fit in the hold and didn’t need to be fed, really. He had thriving lines in alchemical concoctions all the way from Thavnair, if they were so inclined...?

Sometimes, they were so inclined. Sometimes, they asked if he had anything else for sale. Anything special.

He’d been affronted at first, but it was amazing how much a pile of gil soothed most of his moral qualms. And from then on...well, he had a market, apparently, and it was best to keep them supplied. So he hid somnus under sacks of wheat, rare mushrooms and milkroot in between rolls of Nagxian silks. He greased guards’ palms and made frantic midnight exits when the bribes weren’t enough. He kept flying, buoyed now by a reputation for speedy delivery and never, ever skimming anything off the top.

(Alright, there were times he was tempted. But it was just him flying the ship, and he couldn’t steer if he was high. Besides, any drugs he used meant there would be less to sell, and fuel was expensive.)

There were moments, though, when his desire for profit fought his moral code and lost. This was one of them.

A dark Thavnairian alley where the Radiant Guard didn’t often patrol. One of his more regular customers, a rather weedy redheaded Hyur who only ever gave his name as Rasi. This time, the commission was private, not for resale.

If he made the sale at all, Jaiyu thought, frowning down at the man whose bloodshot eyes suggested he was already on something even before he’d started trying to talk Jaiyu out of three grams of blackleaf rose.

Rasi was pouting. It wasn’t a good look. “Aww, mate, c’mon, you know I’m good for it.”

Right. He would not yell. Instead he folded his arms, tail lashing behind him in what—for Au Ra—was a silent and pointed threat. “I don’t care if you’re good for it,” he said evenly. “I’m not selling you more than half a gram.”

“Why not?” Ugh, now he was whining.

Jaiyu took a deep breath. No yelling. No grabbing this little prick by the collar and giving him a good shake. No tossing him out of the alley on his arse. That was the kind of behavior that lost you customers, and when he wasn’t high and jonesing for a fix Rasi was a cheery bloke and a good customer with a better network of contacts. Besides, Jaiyu had easily a fulm of height and seventy-five ponzes of muscle on him and didn’t want to break anything by accident. “Because if you take more than that it’ll make your fuckin’ heart explode, dumbass.”

Rasi blinked at him. “You’re havin’ me on.”

“My hand to the gods,” he said firmly. “I’ve seen it happen with my own two eyes.” Well no, he hadn’t, but Rasi didn’t need to know that. “You wanna be the kind of stupid motherfucker who got himself killed lookin’ for a fun time? ‘S worse than dropping dead in a brothel, where at least you might’ve gotten your rocks off first. Blackleaf overdoses feel like getting’ struck by lightnin’ that hates you personally. Half a gram, three hundred gil. Take it or leave it.”

Rasi growled, muttered something indistinct, and finally bit out, “Fine,” turning to stomp off with a parting growl of, “Be that way. Stubborn scaly arse.”

Jaiyu shrugged, watching him go. He’d probably be back. But in the meantime he’d be grumpy, and Jaiyu couldn’t blame him.

In his defense, he was a pretty shitty Malaguld. Nobody had ever accused him of tact.

It’s time to introduce the full cast of primary characters! This will be split into two parts, part 1 is protagonists/unaligned.

Dawnflame - Primary protagonist/POV character

Age: Early 20s

Personality: Feisty, emotional, stubborn

Lore: Born to parents who didn’t really care whether she came home alive or not, or at all, Dawnflame had a rough childhood. She was a gangly kid, without access to the spectacular mana reserves she’d tap into as a teen, so she was bullied by the stronger and more powerful kids. Dawnflame joined up with the army as soon as she was able, determined to protect her court from her own treatment as a child. Aided by unusually high mana reserves, Dawnflame rapidly climbed the ranks and eventually fought proudly on the front lines of the Colored Tides War, earning the nickname Daybreaker for her explosive fighting style, as well as a reputation as the most powerful soldier produced by The Court of Tides.

She’s killed by Moondance in this war, and on her deathbed she recognizes the whole affair as nothing more than two petty bullies pulling everyone into a mess that never should have started. This is of course, never recorded, so Tawnyfrost brings her back from the dead expecting the loyal (if fiery) soldier, and instead gets a woman who tries to kill her within 45 seconds of being alive again, all the while declaring her hatred of Tawnyfrost. Dawnflame was never known for her subtly lol.

Moondance - Secondary protagonist

Age: Early 30s

Personality: Calm, quick-witted, ruthless

Lore: As the eternal big brother/protector figure ever since he was young (by his own choice, he just enjoys looking after people), Moondance joins the army as an adult to do that protecting on a larger scale. As a result, he gains a reputation for his unfaltering loyalty and “no one left behind” attitude, which also gains him loyalty from the younger soldiers. Like Dawnflame, Moondance fought proudly on the frontlines of the Colored Tides war, proving himself a brilliant and ruthless tactician, with an uncanny ability to lay traps and ambushes and then adapt them on the fly when required. It’s that sharp mind that’s enables him to take out Dawnflame near the end of the war.

He never lives to see the end, however, as he dies not long after that battle. Assassinated by his own leader in a fit of anger that he can no longer fight, courtesy of Dawnflame’s dying explosion. That betrayal causes him to reevaluate the war and his place in it. His official cause of death is listed as mana fever, but it’s an open secret that that’s a coverup for something. Tawnyfrost chooses to bring Moondance back from the dead for his mind and his loyalty, and since Moondance is known for his subtly so he has not told Tawnyfrost he hates her. He does, however, approach Dawnflame with the prospect of rebellion. Which she readily accepts.

Lichenfang - ???

Age: Mid 20s

Personality: Quiet, stoic, dry

Lore: Orphaned when she was barely old enough to fend for herself, Lichenfang spent her early years as a street rat, learning that the strong survived and the weak died. As a young teen, she was taken in by one of the reigning lords in the area, Lord Blackleaf, after he witnessed her taking mana blasts far better than her peers during a scrap with her fellow street rats. What followed was Lichenfang being turned into Blackleaf’s personal bodyguard/hitwoman, the person who did all his dirty work. Blackleaf demanded absolute obedience and punished disobedience with death, Lichen was no exception. She quickly learned to keep her head down, not to speak unless spoken too, not to offer opinions, and to do as she was told without hesitation or argument.

She was killed in the same battle as Lord Blackleaf, when the other lords and ladies decided they’d had enough of him as their neighbor. She dies before he does, and most of the information on her is lost to time. But Blackleaf’s title for her sticks around, Mana-Thief. Tawnyfrost knows she pulled a gamble choosing to bring Lichenfang back, but it payed off. Lichenfang wasn’t called Mana-Thief for nothing.
