good evening and morning and whatever time else exists in between to the bluntcut twink lovers

🤥LYING - are they good liars? do they have tells to show they’re lying?

flint is a very honest man and doesn’t like jutting away from the truth….. however that means nothing in the face of the quality of his lies. he’s not a bad liar or a super adept one, but he can get by. it’s aided by his honest and straightforward reputation, who would ever suspect that flint’s lie of omission is him evading the truth rather than his usual unchatty self? it’s a trait that he and chase both share but flint tries to omit less than chase, unless he deems it absolutely necessary… and what proves necessary is usually trying to cover other people’s tracks.

he’s not too proud to avoid admitting to his deception. often is the case that he’ll be the first to concede, because his moral compass demands the utmost truth and its repercussions.

☕ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

he’s a fan of hot drinks!! but its not rly quantifiable bc he’s only fond of like. 2-3 hot drinks, but he likes those substantially more than he likes other drinks… so technically this counts as a preference.

his favorite drink is a black coffee, but nobody can really contest the quality of plain old water!

💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

flint is… an incredibly intense guy. while it’s not born from a place of perceived superiority or malicious intent, it still comes off as pretty demanding and harsh. actually, in general — his harshness is something that takes a lot of either leeway or patience to get through, because he really doesn’t cut corners on what he wants to say.

it’s not a ‘hot’ kind of intensity either, it’s more of a… constant looming pressure that he’s not going to ease up any time soon. he’s a stick in the mud and is pretty apathetic to most things if they don’t immediately concern something in his circle. there really isn’t much use in trying to rile him up either because flint is very adept at shunting people off of him.

i’d also consider his very… seriously boring personality to be something most ppl have to get acclimated to? he really doesn’t have a lot of strong or profound interests and he doesn’t really express himself all that much either. flint’s just really lacking in a lot of reactions. he’s about as animated as a rock on a good day. a really serious rock.

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

i think he’d remember one of his first meetings with berkeley (and subsequently chase)! flint wasn’t too keen on making friends willynilly, however berkeley did help flint in his early days of being in the ridge of willows!

by that, i mean when flint was still the new kid in school, a kid would routinely pick on him and eventually stuck a wad of gum in his hair…. berkeley decided to help flint by chasing, then tackling, and holding the kid down after flint decided that he’d had enough and finally went after him to kick his ass purple (keep in mind, they (berk and flinth had barely spoken more than 5 words to each other at this point in time). they both got a very stern talking to and suspended from school for a few days. they should’ve both been around 11-12 at this point. they were on respectable but still not-quite speaking terms after that, but grew closer with time :]

flint’s trademark choppy hair is actually from that same incident! after he decided to cut more of his hair in the boy’s bathroom of the school to get the gum out (scissors were from chase, who decided to stay out of it, but saw it unfold bc berkeley suddenly took off running down the school yard). the hairstyle has since become more refined and evened-out, but in it’s early stages it was very…. jagged.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

(pulls out my giant notepad) where to begin……. WELL. HE’S BASED OFF OF THE HUNTSMAN’S RIFLE (from bambi)…. and from the beginning he was always made with the ‘faithful yet stern number two’ in mind! even before i made him into the vice dorm-head, he kinda just had the vibe of ‘always tailing authority’.

he was meant to be straightforward and a bit of a menace… largely playing off of how bullets r supposed to go forward and generally speaking, most ppl and animals go out of their way to evade being shot. steely bc guns are steel. well-put-together bc the rifle’s a machine… a slight refined/sleek edge to him… not someone who just brute forces his way through or to be seen as someone who’s just brash and violent 🤔 he’s been a focused and sharp guy from the start! super precise! this man’s made of steel! granted, his original draft had him as someone who was much more intense when he wasn’t minding his tongue, however i personally prefer the tone that implies flint’s intensity is always present instead of being hair-trigger.

👖 JEANS - what is their go-to outfit?

outside of a school setting… feel like flint’s a business-casual…. but moreso casual than business. he’s pretty simple overall, actually.

leans towards lighter colors and he’s okay with a subtle-print on his clothes. not much of a sweater/sweatshirt guy, but he can appreciate a button-up. pair that with straight leg pants? slim-fit pants? he goes light on accessories — so an old wrist watch (brown?) and a simple leather belt (also brown?). shoe-wise, he’s fine with his worn pairs of boots or sneakers, but flint’s not really one to wear loafers out casually.

on the instances you catch him on a much more casual or… grossly humid/hot day, chances are he hasn’t resorted to shorts yet — but he’s wandering around somewhere in cargo pants and an a-shirt or tanktop (probably with a flannel thrown on for modesty’s sake) with the same old raggedy boots or sneakers.

🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?

HE FITS IN EVERYTHING BECAUSE I SAY SO!!!!!!! and i can’t rly think of. anything he couldn’t be adapted into except maybe a really certain breed of romance and melodrama as a protag or even the love interest, just because he’s um. not cut out for that. he is going to ruin the moment of angst bc he doesn’t have time for that wishy-washiness. either way, rot dictates that he suits a lot of more action-based aus more just bc flint is just . truly a man of his ways and marching right on ahead.

spins the magical wheel of aus in my head and ummmm how abt we delve into: …apocalypse au? (puts on my world building hat) i’m gonna make it into apocalypse/post-apocalypse of some sort. both some kind of nuclear fallout and catastrophic amounts of rain.

flint feels like he’s not the type to do anything wreckless? he prefers to keep large quantities of people safe and in one place, instead of just wandering around or fighting senselessly.

i feel like the stagrove five are all part of a little rough-around-the-edges but nonetheless organized and capable stronghold? situated in a run-down clump of warehouses, it has since been overrun and reclaimed as a standalone city. not everyone in the stronghold is ‘strictly’ associated with the group running the city (stagrove) but they’re all pretty keen on stagrove’s presence, so they play by their rules. seldom do the people in the stronghold venture out, however visitors have always been permitted… but as far as the eye can see, anyone from outside the stronghold is being carefully surveyed. it’s an incredibly self-sufficient city that maintains an aggressively neutral stance on many matters of all groups. they take no allies, but they make no enemies. they want to be left out of the bigger picture, really.

anywho, spiel aside — flint is the second head of the stronghold city. he has a wide expanse of jobs, but most of them are best understood as ‘maintenance and welfare of the stronghold’ meaning that he handles most internal affairs. new construction, expenses, defenses and security, citizen health, ordinances, etc… while it seems that flint is largely barred from being out in the field due to the nature of his responsibilities, it is through the careful organization of stagrove and its shockingly adept network that he has eyes posted everywhere to lock in on threats and suspicious affairs accordingly.

bureaucracy crazies aside, flint also acts as an emergency medic. you know. for when there aren’t enough hands around (jesus how many jobs do you have). and somehow, outside of his already gargantuan list of reputations and careers, the thing most people know him for in the stronghold is that he is ALSO an inactive sniper for the stagrove. he doesn’t have much reason to be a sharpshooter anymore because of his other jobs (and he already made sure that the other stagrove bros are as adept, so they can handle crises without him) but there’s been plenty of offhanded incidents that speak for itself about his precision, and dedication to running a tight ship otherwise. he doesn’t like trouble in his part of ‘town’ you know 🤧

🖍 CRAYON - what advice would you give to them?

………………uh. hm. uh. err. how about “please be more sensitive to other people’s feelings so that they know you’re not trying to beat their ass black and blue when you try to critique them”……….? or maybe try to give other people more leeway to do their own thing because you can only be so right up to a certain point yknow 😭

☄ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?

he’s a stone-faced bitch and he’s as bossy as it gets. are they right? absolutely.

rather than the hot-headed and cruel image that people might draw up for a scary disciplinary… flint is cool in the head. he has a very strict code of discipline and morals, and while laxer on other’s morals, he tolerates absolutely no slacking when it comes to self-regulation and responsibilities. he wants the best for others and doesn’t shy away from a proper rap on the knuckles if they refuse to help themselves… but maybe that speaks to his self-righteous tendencies as well.

granted, as bossy as he is, flint is pretty emotionally mature otherwise. he’s not too proud to admit that he oversteps, and to applogize accordingly. he makes ends meet and tries to communicate things clearly and directly… but if that means be seen as bitchy, then so be it. he’s not set out to be some overtly macho and aggressive aficionado but if others don’t get that then that’s their problem.

💗 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing?

i wish i could say something more traditionally sweet and romantic for this, but. i really can’t. though you could say that keeping pace with flint is what makes his heart race!

what i’m rly getting at is that there shouldn’t be much of a gap in drive or intensity — if he makes a move, there should be the metaphorical clack of a footstep right after him. protecting people doesn’t make his heart race because he’s keeping others safe, it’s the specific notion of going head-to-head that makes it exhilarating. it keeps him on his feet and makes him pretty… bold actually, if they’re doing enough to make flint hone in on keeping up with their tempo.

it doesn’t actually need to be so physical of a competition, if anything, the mental aspect catches him more. it’s not a race of out-doing each other but kinda just getting swung up in the tango of who can keep up the pace of ‘one-step-ahead’. it’s a game just for the two of them :-) he’s got a refined appreciation for the stalwart heart and steadfast spirit
