Bob needs advice for making Phoenix falls in love with him and what is better than asking to Jake- everybody-want-me-Seresin?
(Rooster said him to 'Be yourself and Nat would love you')
The opportunity present, one night, when he finds Hangman alone outside of The Hard Deck.
Jake listens him with straight face, in the end of Bob's speech he answers with a strict: I am the wrong person to ask advices.
Bob: Are you kidding me? When you are in a room a ton of people want you?!
Jake: No Bob, people don't want me... At most they want have sex with me, indeed nobody stay in the morning. Most of people leave after they know me.
Jake's look is on Rooster when he says the last sentence, Bob feels his heart broke for him

Little Bob all grown up
Some of you have maybe read the story of little Bob on my blog, if you haven't you can find it on my Top Gun masterlist before reading this story!
Tumblr media
Ice and you had always called your son Bob, but his real name had always been Robert, after your father’s name.
When he entered the Navy, you couldn’t help yourself but feel emotional at the idea of him following his father’s footsteps.
The first few weeks had been hard without your son there at home, but you still had your two daughters that were taking most of your time anyway. Ice had come home one day with a shy smile, and you couldn’t help but look at him questioningly.
“I had to go see the recruits today, like I do every year and instead of saying Robert I said Bob.”, you can’t help but laugh at his words while Ice glares at you, but a smile appears on his lips.
“What happened then?”, Ice sighs before sitting down at the table and looking at you with eyes filled with laughter.
“His squad started calling him Bob, so I’m guessing that it will be his callsign.”, you can’t help but chuckle at the words of your husband, he looks at you awkwardly, like a kicked puppy.
“It isn’t that bad. It could be worse.”, you say after a moment and Ice sighs.
“I know, I just didn’t want to get in the way of his call sign and everything.”, he says while looking at the black screen in front of him.
You let out a sigh as you look at him, looking dejected. Bob and he had always had a close relationship when he was little and it stayed like that as they grew up. But sometimes Bob felt the pressure of having a father as the Commander of the Pacific fleet and he would get into his own mind. He had also been on the shyer side, which he had gotten from you and that meant that he didn’t have the big ‘Iceman’ aura that your husband did. The two still stayed close but you could see that they were a few cracks, just like Ice did when he thought too much about it.
“I’m sure he didn’t saw it like that, you know Bob.”, Ice nods slowly and before you can say anything the phone rings.
“Kazansky household?”, you hear Ice say, his Commander’s voice at the ready. But as soon as he hears the person on the other line his postures relaxes, and his ‘Bob’ smile appears. He always had a certain smile for each of his children and that one was the one reserved for Bob.
You left the two of them talking, enjoying seeing your husband smiling again.
--
Your two girls were trying to find their brother, he had just received his wings on stage, and they had told the families to wait in the reception room. Ice had given Bob his wings, pride in his eyes and just emotional enough that you could see it. Slider was waiting with you and the other uncles were somewhere talking with old friends.
“There he is!”, Slider says, and you turn to see your son arriving, red cheeks from the loud yell that had attracted attention.
“Hi everyone.”, Bob managed to say before you took him into a strong hug, having missed seeing your son and holding him.
“There are other people wanting to see him mum!”, one of your daughters says and you let out a chuckle at her words, letting go of Bob who is smiling brightly at you.
“Well, would you look at that Bobby is all grown up.”, Tiany teases before bringing her brother into a tight hug, having missed him even if she tried not to show it. Emma takes her turn next, and the two of them talk a bit.
An arm wraps around your waist and you turn around to see a smiling Ice, looking at the three children talking about what has happened recently.
“How are you feeling?”, you whisper under your breath and hear Ice let out a sigh.
“Old but proud.”, you can’t help but chuckle at his words and nod, the two of you had always been proud of your children.
“So, Bobby, did you decide what you were going to do?”, Hollywood asks while everyone looks at the man in question. Bob looks at Ice quickly, to make sure of something and you can’t help but feel worried.
“I’ve decided to become a WSO. My Captain told me that he could see me becoming one of the best WSO’s.”, so that is why Bob was worried, scared that Ice would be disappointed that he wouldn’t become a pilot. Slider whoops loudly before bringing him into a hug, the fellow WSO’s starting to chatter about the added team member.
“I’m sure you’ll do great, I’ve read the report and I know you are going to be one of the best.”, Ice says while smiling proudly at Bob and you had the feeling that he already knew the choice that your son was going to be making.
The night was loud and filled with laughter and as you came back to the house, leaving Bob to get ready for his first deployment you saw Ice sitting down at the front of the house.
“Everything alright?”, you ask softly, while sitting down next to him.
“You remember how he used to hate eating carrots?”, the memory of a pouting Bob makes you laugh, and you hum in response.
“The first time we played in the snow with him.”, Ice continues whispering memories, and you get closer to him, holding him a bit tighter.
“It’s gone by so fast. And I guess I’m just scared that with him leaving for deployment I will lose that relationship that I build with him.”, Ice whispers after a moment of silence and you look at him for a moment, his eyes are misty while looking at the garden.
“It’s not because he leaves for deployments that he won’t remember all the times you had together Tom. You will always be his father and I know that he adores you, he wants to make you proud. And even if we always joked about it, we both know that he is a daddy’s boy since he was little, he adored you from the moment he was born.”, Tom sniffles and you take him into your arms, holding him tight.
“Thank you.”, he whispers, and you just hold him tighter.
“You don’t have to thank me.”, you tell him, the two of you staying there for a moment.
“You know I’m the Commander and yet I feel scared at my son leaving the nest.”, he chuckles, and you join him, knowing that he is feeling better already.
“Don’t worry he will always need you.”, Tom nods slowly, holding you tight and the two of you stay there for a moment just holding each other.
--
It was a dangerous mission; you knew that but that didn’t make it any easier to hear that Bob was in the hospital after a ‘training accident’ as they told you. The man himself had told you countless times that he was fine and had only asked how his pilot was.
“You know I am starting to think that he is more worried about her then his own health.”, you tell Slider, and he laughs softly.
“Young love.”, that makes you look at him and he looks at you with raised eyebrows.
“What? Common you see it too, right?”, you think for a moment and understand what he means, Bob had never been as excited to talk about one of his pilots as he was with Phoenix. His admiration had made you smile, and Ice had been too worried about the mission to pay attention too it.
“What doesn’t she see?”, Maverick asks while coming down the hall looking exhausted.
“Bob and Phoenix.”, Maverick’s smile turns into a smirk.
“Oh, there is definitely something there.”, the two start to talk about what they saw, and you can’t help but laugh, in the corner of your eye you see a female figure entering Bob’s room and you smile while turning back to the two men next to you.
--
“Common everyone! Get ready for it.”, you yell through the backyard, and you see everyone getting in line at your words.
Ice comes quickly to you to kiss you, ignoring all the whistles and disgusted noises from the others making you laugh, before joining the rest.
“Rules are clear. No tripping the others, Mav!”, the man in question argues before huffing at your glare.
“Next, you have 15 minutes to find the eggs. There are eggs with cash, some with chocolate and others with alcohol.”, some of the Daggers perk up at the words and you can’t help but smile at the sight of them.
“Get ready? Set, go!”, you can’t help but laugh at the sight of the Dagger Squad and the fly boys running around.
Bob had quickly gotten multiple eggs; he had always been the quiet but fast one and you can’t help but smile knowing that he was going to win again. Everyone was running around like headless chickens, while Bob picked up his eggs and Phoenix joins him after a moment the two of them smiling at each other lovingly.
The two of them walk around chatting while picking up eggs and laughing at Hangman trying to steal eggs out of the other baskets. Just as you get ready to yell that time’s up you see Bob taking Phoenix’s nearly empty basket and giving her his.
“Times up!”, you yell quickly before the woman can argue with your son, you knew that she wouldn’t be able to convince him to change. But she was looking at him with a warning glare while he leaves smiling happily.
Bob comes up to you, joined by Hangman who teases him about his lack of eggs, and you see Ice looking at Bob with wide eyes. Usually, Bob and he would be the two with the most eggs but as you discretely show him Phoenix slapping Bob’s shoulder before bringing him into a short kiss he understands.
“Let’s count people!”, Phoenix has joined you and all of you start counting and laughing with Hangman yelling loudly in disagreement when Rooster gets the small vodka bottle.
Bob is quickly done with his counting and looks around while smiling. Phoenix seems to still be counting and you can’t help but smile as Bob helps her figuring out what is what. Just as she arrives at the end of the basket she stops.
“Well, are you going to take all day or what?”, Hangman asks impatiently, and Rooster slaps his head, while Phoenix looks up towards a shy Bob.
“I know it was probably not how you would’ve wanted me to do this, but I know you have always loved this egg chase and I thought it would be the perfect time to do it.”, you feel confused for a moment before Bob takes something out of Phoenix’s basket and you see the engagement ring.
“We met each other two years ago and I don’t know what I would do without you Nat. You believe in me, and I know that you will always be there for me. I’m so happy I met you and I know that I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”, he says, and Phoenix looks emotional, everyone around the table is looking shocked, emotional or mushy in Hangman’s case.
“So, Natasha ‘Phoenix’ Trace, will you marry me?”, there is a few seconds of silence before Phoenix answers, and it feels like a lifetime.
“Yes, of course!”, she says before bringing a relieved Bob into a passionate kiss.
“Alright, there are children here!”, the Dagger’s argue at Maverick’s words, but Bob and Phoenix don’t listen to them, looking at each other lovingly as Bob puts the ring on her finger.
Ice has a knowing smile, and you know that he was in the secret, making you smile. You quickly take Phoenix into your arms, welcoming her into the family and the rest of the squad joins making everyone laugh.
--
“Hi!”, a tired looking Bob says as he leaves the hospital room and all of you turn to look at him expectantly.
“It’s a boy.”, Bob says with a large smile and all of you cheer in answer before a nurse tells you to quiet down as it is 5 in the morning.
“You two want to meet him?”, he asks Tom and you and the two of you nod quickly, excited to meet your grandson.
Phoenix is in the bed, looking exhausted but an emotional smile is present as she looks lovingly at her son.
“Hi, there.”, you whisper and Phoenix smiles at you.
“Ready to meet the little guy?”, Tom looks scared for a moment, and you remember the first time he had to hold Bob, absolutely scared to hurt him.
Bob takes his son softly into his arms before bringing him towards us and smiling shily towards his father.
“Meet Tom.”, Bob whispers and you can’t help the emotions that come up at the words, Ice looks shocked before a teary smile appears as he takes his grandson into his arms.
The two men coo over the baby and as you look at a smiling Phoenix you know that everything couldn’t have gone better.

The Proposal - Rooster x reader
Summary: Your boyfriend rooster has plans to propose, and the day of, you decide to do a crazy stunt and end up loosing connection with the tower, leaving rooster worried for your whereabouts. Will rooster's proposal go as planned?
Request: (summarized) from the wonderful @tinfoilhat2719 "hey! could you write something where the reader and rooster are dating and he plans to propose. the reader is a pilot and one day decided to do a crazy stunt in the air, and of course rooster gets worried. when she lands...." (you will see;))
A/N: Well, I watched top gun: maverick again yesterday, and when I say I sobbed, I SOBBED. I got this request a couple days ago, and i've been busy working away at it since - sorry it took so song, i've been so busy these last few days with prep for visiting my uni this weekend (with me luck lol). I am in-love with rooster now, so enjoy this story that is chaotic but fun :) also, i'm not a professional pilot, so enjoy me trying to describe this flight maneuver lol. I LOVE YOU ALL xoxo - Mackenzie :) (ps, the readers call sign is "Shadow").

"You got a ring and everything?" maverick asked, looking at a small blue box in the palm of roosters hand, "when the hell did you get so grown up?"
rooster flashed him a quick grin and then opened the box to show him the faded gold band, with a sparkling diamond in the centre and two smaller ones on either side. the ring was gorgeous and classy in an old fashioned type of way, and that was the perfect thing for his girlfriend, or should we say, soon to be fiancé??
As rooster slipped the box back into the pocket of his jeans, the air between him and maverick fell silent. "Do you have any advice on this sort of thing?" he asked maverick, who's definition of commitment was a three month long fling involving motorcycle rides, steamy kisses (and rounds of forceful sex) , and singing along to the songs on the radio.
"Rooster," he said, putting a hand on the young pilots shoulder, "I'm not the best at this kind-of stuff." Rooster looked away, unsure of why he asked anyways. Maverick noticed and spoke up, "Look at me, it took me thirty years to finally realize that penny was all I had ever wanted in life. And we both know you're way smarter than that."
Roosters lips curled up sideways into a smirk, "You got that right pop."
Any time someone - particularly one of his students, - would refer to maverick as 'pop' or 'old man' they would get a light slap on the shoulder, and maverick would put on a show about how he hated being referred to as a senior. But whenever rooster call him that, his heart (yes, maverick has a heart) would swell a tiny bit just to know that Bradley thought of him as a father figure. And hell, he was here right now asking him for advice on his proposal.
"You're a great guy Bradley," maverick begun, "and y/n's a great girl. the two of you make quite the pair!"
Rooster grinned, fumbling the wallet sized photo of y/n that he kept in his flight suit pocket. It was a photo of you on the beach, yes, that beach. The one beach in Italy that was a favourite spot of yours, where you would spend hours walking the sand and swimming in the sea with your lover. The portrait was of you in an airy white linen shirt, a pair of shorts, and your sun-kissed hair was messily kept beneath one of Bradley's baseball caps. A smile, glowing brightly on your face. The sort of smile that came after a bought of laughter; the sort of smile in which your eyes turned up, and your nose was crinkled. The sort of smile that was only found on your face whenever rooster was near.
"I wish I had more experience in this type of thing," maverick said, pinching the bridge of his nose, "but man, when you have it, you have it."
"And hey," maverick said patting rooster on the back, "You'll be a great husband. Anyone who has you in their life is lucky, because rooster, you are one of the best people I know."
...
"Are you going up today?" phoenix asked, tucking one final bobby pin in her dark hair.
"Yeah," you said, "I'm thinking about trying out a new maneuver."
Phoenix, one of the only other female pilots on base, and your wild roommate, always was keen on hearing about your latest plans to spice things up in the sky. "Really?" she asked, eyes bright, "I want to hear all about it!"
So, on your afternoon walk to the flight depot, you told phoenix everything. Every gruelling detail, and little insignificant note was spilled, and phoenix was glad to hear it. "That is so badass," she said after you told her about your plans, "I haven't even tried the cobra yet!"
You tucked a loose strand of hair back into your bun and grinned, "Hey," you said, smirking, "I can be your wingman anytime."
Phoenix laughed, having picked up on the saying that was often bounced around Captain Mitchell and Admiral Kazanzky, some inside joke of theirs from their old days at top gun??
"If I did that with bob in the back, he would never forgive me," phoenix said, putting on her favourite pair of aviators, "I love him to death, but he is so work driven that sometimes he forgets to have fun."
You were glad that you flew solo, just you and your f-18 up in the sky. It also worked whenever you wanted to try something new, because with a bask seater, you have someone else to think about as opposed to just yourself and your jet.
"Be safe up there Shadow," phoenix said, giving you, her friend and flat-mate a squeeze on the shoulder, "I wanna see you for drinks later tonight."
You grinned, "Count me in."
...
At the flight depot, you saw your boyfriend rooster standing there, all suited up in his flight gear which was identical to yours. "Hi," you said, walking over, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
"Hey," he said, putting his arm around you, grinning at your sight, "Going up soon?" he asked.
You nodded, taking your aviators from the pocket of your t-shirt and putting them properly on, "I'm doing the flight by point Loma today, then the circle loop around generals bay."
Rooster nodded, "I was out early this morning, so its just a fun afternoon of paperwork for me," he smirked.
"I'm thinking about trying a new maneuver," you said brightly.
Rooster shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose, "God," he sighed, rolling his eyes as he laughed, "You and your crazy stunts. Your just like maverick!"
You laughed, "well, he was one of my first instructors!"
The clock on the wall read 5:35, it was time to get going, after all, you had booked the 5:45 flight slot.
"I gotta go babe," you said, squeezing roosters shoulder, "Listen for me on the radio if you'd like. It might make your paperwork more interesting!"
Rooster always listened to the radio when you were up in the air. Even before the two of you begun dating, rooster always listened to the radios, back at top gun, even back in flight school where the two of you had first met.
One day in the cafeteria when you were trying to buy a protein bar from the vending machine, the machine wouldn't take your quarters, and lucky for you, rooster was behind you and offered his one dollar bills instead. He got you the snack and instead of taking your change like you had insisted, he opted to hear about the cobra maneuver - which you had just tried the day before, and nearly succeeded - instead.
The two of you became friends and one night at the bar, a drunken almost-kiss lead for unfamiliar feelings for the both of you, which you were forced to face the next day in class when you were assigned a task together.
"About last night," rooster had said, stopping in the corridor outside the classroom, "I'm not sure how you felt about that, but um," he paused, unsure of what to say next.
But then you and your smart mouth interjected, "I like you too rooster."
The two of you had laughed and then arranged a date, and since then, the two of you - despite the jobs taking place an oceans away- have remained close and very much in love.
"Just, be safe up there," rooster said, kissing your temple, "alright?"
You gave him a nod, "You got it lieutenant Bradshaw!"
After doing all of the necessary and required pre-flight checks, the sound of your f-18 roaring to life was like music to your ears. Although, it was a rather gruff sound, that at times could be quite gruelling to listen to due to the power of the dual engines, but it served as a reminder of how hard you had worked to find your place as a naval aviator. Another reminder, one that made you incredibly pleased, was the sticker bearing your name "y/n "Shadow" y/l/n" beneath the canopy that you grinned at each time you stepped into your aircraft.
It wasn't always the easiest thing being a female in a male-dominated career, but your name on this lustrous aircraft proved it was all worth it, now if only the pricks who thought that you didn't belong could agree. The hurtful truth is that no matter how far you got in the navy, there would always be one person with a snide remark for you, always one who would choose to loathe you based on your gender, always one who would go out of their way to make you feel as if you didn't belong. It was hard at first, but after you got a feel for who supported you, and wanted you to succeed, work was more enjoyable than it had been before.
A woman's voice from the tower filled your ears; those four little words that made your heart swell, "All go for takeoff." And with a big groan of force courtesy of the throttle, you were barreling fast and hard down the runway, and before you knew it, you were up in sky, pulling 3g's right off the get go.
The gravitational force sent you back into your seat, a feeling that excited you although you were used to by now. You remembered at first, when you were learning how to fly, the feeling that would accompany takeoff. The feeling that your eyes were going to fall back into your head, and that your legs were being pushed away behind you. The coat of sweat and the tremors that would accompany the first pull into the sky. From time to time, you still found yourself getting nervous, but the more that you thought about being up in the sky, the less the impending thoughts seemed to bother you.
The sky seemed especially blue today, and the clouds were few but gorgeous. "On your six Shadow," Payback said through the microphone, singling that he was behind you as expected.
Usually, when you were just going up for a flight, the commander would send another jet, just to have two eyes and ears checking out the sky. You weren't looking for anything in particular but instead just practicing and maintaining your flight techniques. Today, your wingman was Payback, and his wso, Fanboy.
"Copy payback," you said, turning in your seat, glancing back at the fellow f-18 behind you.
"On the way back, theres something I want to try," you said, grinning.
In the other jet, coyote was shaking his head and payback was smirking, "Another one of your stunts shadow?" he asked lightly.
"Affirmative," you replied, now soaring over point Loma.
"Hey," payback begun, "at least its us and not Yale and Juno flying with you today. They hate that sort of stuff."
"Not us though," payback said, giving you his support, "we love the show!"
"why are you waiting until the end?" fanboy asked, clipping on his mask into the side of his helmet.
Good question? why am I waiting until the end of the flight to do my trick?
"How about I do it at generals bay?" you asked, "Give the people on the beach a bit of a show?"
Payback laughed, "No one flys like you do Shadow."
Generals bay approached quicker than you had expected, and a glaze of sweat was beginning to coax your brow. You felt the sweat along the back of your neck, the wispy ends of your bun messily tangled in your helmet. God, its hot today.
You made the loop around the point, and on your way back north, payback and fanboy flew up beside you. "The stage is all yours Shadow," payback said, fanboy in the back giving you a hearty thumbs up.
The 'stage' or in this case, the clear clear almost-evening sky, was wide open for you, ready for your stunt.
So, giving the jet just a bit more gas, pulling the throttle back ever so slightly, you climbed higher in the sky, and then once at your satisfied altitude, you tilted the front of your jet to a near vertical descent, the water looking very blue beneath you.
You felt yourself catch on the straps of your seat belt as your altitude began to drop, now it was time for the main attraction.
Plummeting towards the ground, you manoeuvred the jet in a spiral pattern, resembling a corkscrew type of wave, moving the control so the spiral turns would pull even more g's than usual. A wave of thrill rushed over you as you approached the earth, the altitude giving you a play by play, each number being read aloud by the automated voice, "15,000, 14,000, 13,000."
When the automated voice screeched that you were around 7,000 feet, you pulled up, but not in the traditional sense. You levelled off your jet to go at a straight line, but however, you were inverted, still facing the ground, the blood rushing to your head, a feeling you thrived to feel when upside down in a jet. At first it was disorienting, but after your third and fourth time upside down, you get used to it.
"How was that boys?" you asked your wingmen, "Like the inverted flying?"
Payback hollered into the radio and fanboy laughed. "There's no one who flys like you y/n," said fanboy.
"Well, maybe except mav!" Payback said.
"One last thing," you said, puling the jet up, now you were going sparing into the sky, speeding beside the other f-18, making payback grip the controls just a bit firmer than he had before.
"What the hell!" Fanboy shouted, but you could tell he wasn't mad, due to his laughter.
You brought the jet just a bit higher and then did a sort of loop in the sky, one that was quick in speed with high velocity. As you completed the loop, going upside down, facing the ocean for the third time today you felt a rush of adrenaline pump through your veins.
As you were finishing off the the loop, a light began to flash on the dashboard at a rapid pace, "left engine." Then a god awful noise, that started off as a murmur, but grew into something loud and rumbling came from the back of the plane. "Payback," you said clearly through the radio, "There's something wrong with one of the engines!"
And just as you were levelling off, the radio made a loud shrill and then a crackling pop, and radio silence filled your helmet. You tired turning it back on, playing with the main radio in the jet, but it was no use, the light for the radio was dead.
"Fuck," you said aloud, the sweat coming hot and fast, making a glossy film over your skin, "I've gotta get back."
Noticing the check-engine light for the left side was flashing more rapidly now, you did what you were taught, and attempted to re-generate it, in hopes of it turning back on. At first, there was some hope, and that same gurgling sound from the back of the jet, but then a cloud of smoke was released into the sky, and you knew that your left engine would likely not turn back on.
Without dual engines, it was rather difficult to keep up with payback and fanboy, who were now long ahead. Even as you followed them from behind, you found it difficult to keep an eye on them as they barrelled along the pattern.
You tried another switch on the dashboard to try to get the radio back on, and for a second it worked, and you were able to scream out, "Request to land immediately, mayday, mayday," but with the static cutting in and out, it was hard to tell what the people in the tower could hear. As you tried again, flipping the switch, the lights on the dash all went dim, something was seriously wrong with your jet.
"No, no, no, no, no," you repeated to yourself as you tried any switch that would flip.
Back at the base, after hearing the stunt play out through the radio, rooster had attracted quite the crowd in the office room. A terrible feeling filled his head, and his heart was pounding once he heard the radio fall silent on your behalf. "y/n!" he said, grabbing the small box in-between both hands, and then he took off into the flight depot, to go find a commander.
On his way there, he ran into maverick, who was alarmed to see him pass by in such an alarmed state. "Rooster?" he asked, seeing him run by in a blur, "What's going on?"
Rooster stopped hastily, looking at the captain with wide, scattered eyes that couldn't seem to focus on anything in particular. Beads of sweat on his forehead, and that same nervous look on his face that presented itself every so often when rooster was particularly stressed or anxious.
Maverick recalled when Bradley was young, that same look - the one with the slightly raised brow and tucked lips, and trembling eyes that always seemed to drift from surface to surface - that usually seemed to present itself before a major baseball game or right before a math test that he hadn't studied for. Even after all of these years, whenever rooster was distraught, he still looked at him with those same wondering eyes as when he was a child.
"Its y/n!" Bradley said, "She did some stunt and theres a problem with her engine. We've lost all contact with her. No one knows where she is."
"But weren't payback and fanboy up there with her?" he asked.
"Yeah, but last I heard, they were ordered to land immediately," Bradly said, looking around for a commander or admiral, anyone with power who could help with the matter.
Then in the corner, the short greying commander Hinton, was sipping his evening coffee. "Commander Hinton!" Bradley shouted, running over to the old man, maverick following suit.
As Bradley begun to speak, his words coming out all slurred and jumbled, Commander Hinton hushed him, "Lieutenant," he said calmly, but when rooster carried on, telling him things he already knew, Hinton said it more harshly, "Lieutenant!" which made the pilot straighten his posture and take a step back beside maverick.
"All we can do is wait and see if she makes it back," the commander said dryly, leaving maverick to chase after rooster who was already in the process of running towards the airstrip.
...
There it was, the runway, the one you were incredibly glad to see, thankful that you were paying attention during takeoff to remember where you were scheduled to land.
The sky was now glowing in hues of golden orange, a heavenly shade of the tropics that you rarely got the chance to fly in. Usually, after a day of flying, the last thing you wanted to do was land, but tonight, after the flight you've had, you were more than relieved to see the landing strip.
The lights on the tarmac were flashing in a particular sequence, showing you where to go and when to do it. Having no radio connection to the tower made it tricky to land. You mainly were worried about another jet trying to land at the same time as you were, but when you finally touched down and parked in your designated stall, you could finally breathe.
You opened the canopy and descended the steps. Taking your first few steps on the concrete, your legs felt wobbly and unsure as you removed your helmet, setting it below the leg of your aircraft. A sigh escaped your lips, you were finally back down on earth.
From the main building, you could see rooster running out towards you at a rapid pace, his dark hair blowing in the wind, and the gorgeous night time sun reflecting on his skin. God, he's so handsome.
Approaching you, rooster's sprint slowed down to a jog and then later an abrupt halt, gasping for air, looking at you with his foggy eyes, displaying an unreadable emotion.
"What the hell was that?" he gasped in an distraught tone.
Rooster rarely raised his voice, especially at you, what was the matter with him? did something happen while I was up in the sky?
"What do you mean?" you replied firmly, "I landed the jet like normal!"
Rooster grunted, pinching that spot at the base of his neck that always seemed to collect stress, his arms flexing tightly in his black t-shirt. "No, y/n," he spat, "That stunt. What the fuck was that! You disappeared from the radio!"
The force of the moment found its way into your veins, making your chest feel tight and head growing hazy. You rolled your eyes, taking a step towards your boyfriend, "God rooster, I had it all under control."
A stout laugh escaped his lips, "Did you?" he hissed.
"Yes Bradley, I did!" you replied harshly, "I value my plane very much, and I took every precaution necessary to land safely!"
"You and your stunts," rooster said hotly, shaking his head, "You're so reckless, do you know that?!" Now he was staring at you, intensely, urgently, his eyes were pressed to yours.
You nodded, stepping forward's rooster, "Yeah, I do! But I don't know why you're so mad at me?"
Rooster stepped back, letting a breath escape his lips, his face red and blotchy from anger, "Fuck y/n," he said angrily, "You could have fucking died up there!"
"But I didn't. I didn't die, and I'm right here on the landing strip fighting with you."
"God shadow," rooster said, calling you by your call sign, still fuming, although now more relaxed, "What the hell would have happened if we were married? Your decisions could have killed you."
married? hold on a minute, what did he just say?
"Married?!" you shouted, arms flailing in the air, "What the hell are you talking about rooster?"
Arms shaking, rooster shoved his hand into the pocket of his dark green trousers and pulled out a small blue box - a ring box. He opened it, flipping the top up with his opposite hand, showing it to you, "This, y/n!" he shouted, showing you the gold ring he had picked out last month, "I was going to propose tonight!" he said urgently.
You looked at rooster with quiet eyes, not making a sound, your mouth falling open from the shock of it all. did rooster just say that he was going to propose?
Your eyes scattered down to the ring box, how it was held gently in roosters strong hands. "Rooster," you said gently, "You were going to ask me to marry you?"
Rooster nodded, closing the box, "Yeah. I had it all planned out. We were going to walk down to the beach and just as the sun was about to set, maverick was going to do a fly-by in his p-51, and," he paused shutting his eyes, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that stuff to you. God, I've just been so fucking nervous lately."
You took a step forward, taking one of roosters hands gently in yours, "Rooster," you spoke, voice trembling, "I'm sorry for what I said."
He shook his head, "don't be, I overreacted. I shouldn't have said what I did."
"No," you said, "I should be more careful, and I'm glad you care enough to tell me that. I did over-do it tonight."
"This whole thing was a disaster," Bradley said, looking down at the box.
"You really meant what you said?" you asked, "You wanted to marry me?"
Rooster looked up, meeting your eyes, "I want to marry you y/n."
He held your hands in his, "I want to know what its like to wake up with you beside me every day of my life. I want to spend all of my time with you y/n, because I love you, every part of you, even your reckless stunts!"
"You're the most important person to me, and I don't want to loose you," he said, eyes misty, looking at you, only you.
If rooster wouldn't have brought his hand up to the side of your cheek to wipe the tears streaming down your face, you wouldn't have realized that you were crying. God, you of all people, didn't think you would be capable of crying at your own proposal.
"What are you saying rooster?" you asked, smiling gently, already sure you knew what he was going to say next.
"I'm asking, shadow," Bradley said, grinning, "Will you marry me?"
As another fat tear rolled down your cheek, a smile spread across your face. You nodded, throwing your arms around Bradley, "Yes. I would love to marry you!"
It felt so good to have your boyfriend's, fiancé's arms around you, his hands on your back holding you tightly towards his body. You were consumed by his scent, the way it filled your head and suddenly brought you home. You loved the way strong arms were holding you, and the way he smiled into your hair. "I love you," he whispered into your ear.
"I love you too," you repeated, your tears getting sopped up in rooster's tee-shirt.
You looked to rooster with eyes of salt, and brought your lips up to his. And there the two of you stood on the tarmac, kissing. The kiss was long and slow and made electricity buzz through your veins in a sweet low tone. No matter how many times he had kissed you, each time it felt new and entrancing.
When you broke the kiss, Bradley brought back out the ring box, concentrating with tears in his eyes, as he took the gold band out of the tan cushion it was held in. You held out your your hand, wriggling your wedding finger as rooster shakily slid the band up and over your knuckle. It was a perfect fit, it was made exactly for you.
You held your hand closer to your face and looked at the ring. The diamond shone brightly in the evening sun, and it looked gorgeous on your hand, nearly too beautiful to belong to a fighter pilot!
You grinned brightly at rooster, looking up from the ring, "I can't believe we're engaged," you said, looking around, the moment finally setting in, "Oh my god! we're engaged!" you screamed.
Bradley grinned, picking you up in his arms, which earned a squeal from you, "Bradley! Put me down!" you laughed to your fiancé who was carrying you towards the flight depot, one arm supporting your back, the other beneath your legs. As Bradley waded forward, the two of you couldn't stop grinning and gazing at one another.
Under one of the canopies where rooster had carried you to, all of your friends (that were pilots and wso's) were there, clapping and cheering for you.
Rooster set you down, and then put his arms around you, brining you into a hug from behind. "Everyone," he said to the other pilots and crew, gathering their attention, "We have something exciting to tell you!"
You grinned, looking up at Bradley, who'e eyes were beaming, "I think they already know rooster!"
"You guys are getting married!" phoenix said excitedly, bring you in for an an embrace, her arms wrapping tightly around your torso.
"We saw the whole thing go down on the tarmac," bob said, giving rooster a pat on the shoulder, "Congratulations!"
Just as you were showing your colleagues the gorgeous band that rooster had picked out especially for you, there was a loud noise in the sky. You looked up, it was a jet!
Up in the sky, one of the f-18's was doing a fly-by, soaring loudly and quickly over the depot. You looked to rooster and exchanged a glance, "Maverick," you agreed.
I guess part of rooster's plan did go as expected, it was during the hours of sunset, and maverick flew overhead, although it wasn't his stunning p-51 and just an ordinary f-18, the moment was perfect, and you were one step closer to spending the rest of your life with the most important and wonderful person, rooster, the love of your life.

Mornings of Gold
I'm so far behind its not even funny, but I have FINALLY finished my second entry for @roosterforme Top Gun Rocktober event. I used my all time favorite song to create this completely self indulgent romance piece and I have zero apologies for it. ;) Pairing: Phoenix and Bob Words: 5433 Warnings: fluff, mild smut (no grave detail), kissing, did I mention fluff? *I do not own the Top Gun characters.*
Tumblr media
Lightening illuminated the windows while rain tap danced across the glass. A deafening crack of thunder shook the entirety of Bob’s apartment, rattling some of his frames on the wall and causing both he and Phoenix to jump in their seats. They were deep into their third round of Go-Fish and a lunch wager was riding on the winner of this last bout. It was serious and they both were concentrating so hard on their cards that the storm jolted them out of their haze.
“I hope the power holds.” Bob said while studying the dwindling stack of cards in his hand.
“And if it doesn’t, we light some candles and keep going.”
“Phee, I don’t have any candles.”
“Floyd. I thought you were a Boy Scout?”
“I didn’t say I was a good one.” he whispered with a sheepish shrug.
“Thank goodness for flashlights.”
“I don’t have those either.”
Phoenix let out a huff “Guess I should plug my phone in, just in case huh?” she said exasperatedly as she stood to grab her charger from her backpack.
Phoenix loved being back in Lemoore with Bob, despite returning to their original squadrons. She missed flying with Bob, but their weekly meet ups for movies and card games helped. After the uranium mission they seemed to gravitate to one another, no one else able to understand the weight of what they went through together, especially since it was top secret, and they weren’t allowed to speak of it. Between the bird strike and the mission, both of them had changed and they were thankful they had each other to lean on. Bob had suffered nightmares for a while and Phoenix had trouble enjoying things outside of work in the “real world” like she used to. Their friendship carried them through those foggy first few months post mission.
Things had started to feel warm and fuzzy to Natasha about three months after their return to Lemoore. She was spending a lot of time with Bob, and they had become relaxed with each other. Movie nights now consisted of Bob wrapping his arm around her while she leaned into his side or Phoenix running her hands through his hair when he laid his head in her lap on the couch. Card games now include occasional rubs of one foot on the others under the table. Trips into town might find them holding hands and the one Saturday they drove out to the coast Bob held her hand on the gear shift of his truck the whole way. Neither of them spoke of the closeness they were experiencing; it was comfortable and comforting and neither seemed to find issue with it or the need to discuss.
Phoenix returned to the small dinning nook where Bobs card table and folding chairs were set up. He was quite a minimalist, but she didn’t mind, up until now anyways. She plugged the phone in then flopped on to her backwards chair, straddling it in her plaid pajama pants and eyed Bob mischievously. Another rumble of thunder rattled the walls, and her grin grew in feigned innocence.
Bob looked up at her over his glasses with a furrowed brow, then back to his cards.
“Got any eights?”
“Go fish”
He grunted and picked up a card from the pile between them. “Phee, how is it possible you are so good at everything right down to child level card games?”
She giggled at her bespeckled best friend.
“What can I say? It’s a gift.” She winked at Bob, and he shook his head with a boyish grin.
“I’m pretty sure I’m a few cards away from owing you sushi.”
“I think you might be right.”
And he was. Moments later Phoenix won and jumped out of her chair, fist pumping the air victoriously. Bob just smiled at her then cleaned up the pile of cards.
“Movie time! What do you want to watch?” she asked, flitting into the living room, and flopping down onto the couch.
Bob called from the kitchen where he was cleaning up their snack mess from the table.
“I chose last week. It’s your turn.”
“Ok let me see what I can find.”
Bob joined her on the couch, pulling her legs into his lap as he sat next to her.
“My feet probably stink, Bob.”
“I don’t smell anything, so you’re good.”
She smirked and went back to scrolling through the movies on the streaming service app on Bobs tv.
Suddenly Phoenix sat up quickly, her legs flying out of his lap.
“OH!” she shouted, causing Bob to startle. “This is my favorite movie ever!”
“I thought Die Hard was your favorite?” He asked.
“That’s my favorite Christmas movie.”
“Phee. Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.”
“I’m not having this argument with you again for the hundredth time, Robert.” she said as she gently popped his chest with the back of her hand.
Bob put his hands up in defense then looked up at the screen to see a picture of a heavily made-up David Bowie surrounded by furry characters.
“Labyrinth? What’s it about?”
She whipped around on the couch to look at him with complete disbelief on her face.
“You’re joking? You’ve never heard of Labyrinth!? I know you’re a baby and all but it’s only one of the most amazing cult classics of the 1980’s. David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, and a host of Jim Henson puppets.”
He smiled at her enthusiasm. “I am not that young and no, I haven’t. I’m gonna to be honest Phee, this surprises me.”
“What? Why?” she asked frowning.
“Your idea of a top-notch movie usually involves heavy gunfire and a string of cuss words throughout. Not Muppets.”
Phoenix rolled her eyes then pressed play. She shifted her legs around so she could lean into his side and Bob instinctively wrapped his arm around her shoulders as they settled in to watch the fantasy movie.
“Yeah well, this one is special from my childhood and my favorite song on the planet is in it.”
“Oh yeah?” he asked.
“Yeah. I’ll tell you which one when it pops up.”
The opening refrains of Bowie began to trickle through the surround sound as they relaxed together on the couch. Somewhere along the way Bob began to rub small circles on Nat’s bare arm and her head came to rest on his shoulder.
Later in the movie, the main character of Sarah bit into a laced peach and Natasha whispered up to Bob.
“This is it. The dream sequence has my favorite song.”
The light melody of As the World Falls Down by David Bowie began to serenade the masked dancers on screen and Natashas eyes lit up. She had always loved this part as a child. The stunning attire, the soft lullaby of the love song. As she grew up, she began to realize the whole movie was a euphemism for coming of age and the song gained all new meaning for her. The lyrics started to take the shape of her journey out into the real world. College, commissioning, flight school, and traveling the globe. She missed her picturesque childhood, but it was time to grow up, whether she wanted to or not. The only thing she hadn’t found along the way was the magical love story she thought she would have when she watched the costumed actors waltz around the dreamscape as a young girl.  What she considered the last card in the grown-up deck. She had relationships over the years, but nothing that swept her off her feet the way she thought would happen. No one had promised her mornings of gold or Valentine evenings like the song said, but she was hopeful that might change, sooner or later.
Once Sarah shattered the walls of the fancy ballroom, ending the pretty scene, Bob reached over to grab the remote from the coffee table and paused the movie. Phoenix didn’t move other than to pick up her head and look at him questioningly.
“Phee. The movie is weird. But that song is beautiful. I can see why you like it. It’s sort of sad too.”
She gave him a gentle smile. “It really is. And this scene has always been magical but also sad for me. Romantic and whimsical. Sarah’s caught between being a child and a woman and all the things she thinks she wants but also the things she doesn’t realize yet she will miss about being a kid. I relate to the song and the themes of the movie.”
“You do?” He questioned.
“Sure. I had a normal, happy childhood, but like most kids, I couldn’t wait to grow up. I wanted the adventure, the freedom, the uh” she hesitated, lowering her eyes to his chest, “um, love, found only in the grown-up world. Now though, I wish I could go back sometimes. I love my life, but I miss the, um, innocence of being a kid. The tough stuff like top secret scary missions didn’t exist yet.” She nudged him with a knowing look, and he grinned.
“Good at kid’s card games and carrying philosophical conversation about children’s movies to boot. You’re not as scary as people think you are.” He mused.
She snickered and lightly elbowed him in the ribs. “Yes I am.”
Bob grunted on impact, then blew out a heavy breath. “Fine. You’re not as scary as I thought you were. You’re just a big softy.” And he winked at her.
Another bang of thunder rolled through the skies above and they both jumped.
“We better finish this before the power goes out.” She said and he mumbled his agreement, pressing play on the remote again.
The storm began to clear out as the movie came to an end. Phoenix stood and stretched her arms over head while Bob turned the TV off.
“Final verdict?” She asked when he stood up next to her.
“I still say weird, but Bowie’s music is brilliant and it’s definitely a unique way of portraying the transition from child to getting older. 4 out of 5 stars.”
She smiled at him adoringly before patting his cheek and heading for the entry way.
“I’m glad you liked it. I think our friendship would be over if you hadn’t.” she said with a laugh as she scooped up her backpack from the floor and started rummaging for her keys.
“Nat?” she turned to face Bob while shimmying into her sneakers.
He seemed nervous, shoving his hands into the pockets of his shorts. “Were you planning to go to Captain Holloways wedding next weekend?”
That wasn’t what she was expecting. They both received invitations, but they hadn’t really talked about it.
“I don’t know, you?”
“Well. I was thinking.” He ran his right hand through his hair, stalling. “That is. Do you want to go with me?” He rocked back and forth from his toes to his heels like a rocking horse, his shoulders all the way to his ears as he waited for her to respond.
“Oh! Why Robert Floyd, are you asking me to be your date?” She crossed her arms with a questioning smirk on her face.
His cheeks turned a light shade of pink. “Well, ah, Yeah, I guess I am. But” he put both hands up defensively and his words rushed out. “I get it if you don’t want to go. Or go with me. We can just meet up there if you want. Or do something else? Shoot. I bet you already have a date. Or I don’t have to go at all if you want to go with someone else or go alone. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have been presumptuous. You know what? Let’s just forget I asked.” And he let out a nervous chuckle.
Phoenix had not changed body or face position through his little freak out. She found him absolutely adorable when he was nervous. Inside a plane he was steady as the driving rain outside, but on the ground, he was shy, and it was endearing.
“Bob” she said, then she took the three steps across the entry way to stand in front of him. Phoenix placed her hands on his biceps, rose up on her tippy toes, and lightly pecked him on the cheek. “I’d love to be your date for the wedding. Pick me up at 6?” Then she gave him a brilliant smile.
Relief washed over his face. This sweet man was really starting to create warm feelings in her that she wasn’t expecting but didn’t hate.
“Oh, ok. Great. I’ll pick you up at 6 then. You be careful out there going home, ok?” She removed her hands from his arms then slid them around his midsection to hug him. He wrapped his long lanky arms around her and gave her a light squeeze over her backpack.
“I will. See you tomorrow.” And with one last sweet smile she grabbed her umbrella from the porch, popped it open, and darted out into the muggy drizzle, an extra bounce to her steps as she made a beeline for her car.
Several days later, after a busy week at work, Phoenix was staring at her reflection in the full-length mirror in her bedroom. It had been a long time since she had attended a wedding, or any sort of formal event, that wasn’t for the military and didn’t involve her dress uniform. The ceremony was going to be outside overlooking a vineyard, the reception in an open-air barn, and it was quite warm for May in southern California. Many of her coworkers would be in attendance, including her very special date, so she knew she was never going to hear the end of it when they caught sight of her in something other than a flight suit for once.
She spent the afternoon before at a local department store trying on dresses. She honestly didn’t even own an appropriate dress for an evening summer wedding. The few dresses she owned were tiny, black, and were rarely donned. She must have tried on at least 25 dresses, looking for the right one. If she was honest with herself, she was a little nervous. Yes, she and Bob had been friends for a while now, but this felt different. It was different. The little butterflies in her stomach told her things were changing and that thought both scared her and thrilled her. He was so different from anyone she had ever been with before. His strength wasn’t in his brawn or bravado, it was in his quiet determination, unyielding devotion, and his rarely shared dry wit. He was handsome in an old Hollywood sort of way, and he never tried to make her feel small, obviously not scared of a female leader. She could admit that their friendship was based, at first, on trauma bonding but had since evolved into something she trusted. She just hoped he felt the same way. He did ask her out after all, so surely, he felt the shift in their relationship too.
The dress she settled on was a pale pink satin draped dress with spaghetti straps. She purchased a simple shawl in an even softer pink shade and nude kitten heels to go with it. Her hair was always up in the regulation bun so tonight she put a little curl in it and left it down, her grandmother’s pearl earrings completing the ensemble. Natasha ran her hands over the smooth fabric as she studied herself in the mirror. She felt one hundred percent confident until it came to her feminine side. She loved being a woman and pretty things, but she was more prepared to fly an F/A-18 in drab green flight suits and kick back for beers with the guys after work than step out for a night on the town in a slinky pink dress. Just as she was preparing to talk herself out of going, she heard a knock at her front door.
Shit. Bobs here. Too late now.
Giving herself one more glance in the mirror, she hesitantly tucked a small strand of hair behind her ear, placed her phone in her small clutch, and headed for the door. With one last deep breath, she opened the door and watched the pool-blue eyes on the other side grow exponentially in a matter of seconds.
Phoenix watched Bob swallow hard and begin to stammer but bless the man no actual words came out at first. She managed a small smile at him and his large grin in return made her heart flutter.
He cleared his throat then tried again. “Wow, uh Phee, you look, um, just wow.” His cheeks were bright red.
Bob looked incredibly attractive in a tailored three-piece grey suit with a white shirt and a striped tie in darker shades of blue. Phoenix felt a little flustered as well, not just from Bobs reaction but her own attraction to the handsome WSO in front of her. She stepped out of the apartment, locking the door behind her, then turned back to Bob’s still wide eyes. With a small giggle she pecked his cheek.
“You’re pretty wow yourself. Ready to go?”
Bob shook his head, seeming to clear fog from his mind, letting out a small chuckle as he offered his elbow for Phoenix to take. “Yes mam.” And they took off for the evening.
The ceremony was nothing short of spectacular. The sunset showed gorgeous hues of purple and orange as the couple said their vows and exchanged rings. Somewhere in the middle of the captains’ vows while he spoke of feeling whole and complete by his soon to be wife, Bobs hand slid over and picked up Phoenix hand, wrapping his fingers between hers and moving it until both of their hands came to rest on his leg, his eyes remaining transfixed on the alter ahead. Phoenix tensed briefly, her eyes shifting sideways then quickly to their joined hands and finally back to the service. Was she sweating? Between the heavy emotions of the wedding, the story book surroundings, and Bobs large, calloused hand gripping hers, Phoenix skin was prickling warm, and her heart fluttered in her chest.
Once the groom kissed his bride and the procession was completed, the guests made their way to the outdoor barn for the cocktail hour and reception. Bobs hand slipped to Phoenix lower back as he gently guided her along the brick path toward the glowing string lights twinkling above the tables of the party area. Soft music played from the DJ stand as they gathered drinks from the bar and made their way to the seats at a round table labeled with their names on dainty gold embossed cards. Before she could say or do anything, Bob pulled her chair out for her with a gentle grin. Phoenix returned the smile and thanked him as she took her seat amongst some fellow aviators from various squadrons at Lemoore and their dates.
Once seated, Bob leaned over and whispered low in her ear “Thank you for coming with me. You’re so beautiful Phee. I’m honored to have the prettiest date here.”
Phoenix turned her head slightly, her eyes meeting his glowing blue orbs, and the butterflies in her tummy began to dance all at once. She could feel warmth creeping up her cheeks. He was too sweet for words, and she knew she was falling hard.
“Thank you for asking me. I’m having a wonderful time. And you’re not too bad yourself.” She said as she reached up to straighten his tie.
He smiled at her, a full, toothy smile that made the corners of his eyes crinkle and she returned the smile wholeheartedly.
All through dinner and the initial formalities such as a toast and first dance, Bob continued to land gentle touches to Phoenix, sending chills along her body even through the warmth of the Southern California evening. At one point he wrapped his arm around the back of her chair and began rubbing tiny circles on her bare arm while he carried an idle conversation about something work related with the pilot sitting next to him. They didn’t speak out loud to each other much, choosing to just relax and enjoy the joyous atmosphere around them as their tablemates came and went. An hour or so into the event, the party really kicked up when the dance floor opened, and the DJ began turning various tunes from slow country to club beats.
Bob and Phoenix decided to find the Bride and Groom to give them their congratulations then mingle amongst their friends and colleagues. Phoenix ended up surrounded by several ladies she knew, some from work and some the spouses or girlfriends of other aviators. The gaggle began praising her looks, asking questions about her dress and shoes. Phoenix was so wrapped up in the conversation, trying not to appear as uncomfortable as she felt, that she didn’t notice her date slip away.
A soft melody began to float through the air, and she recognized the early refrain immediately. It was her song. The one she loved so much from her favorite movie. Phoenix excused herself quickly, turning to search for the person she knew had to be responsible. Standing a few feet away, next to the dance floor, was Bob, his outstretched hand beckoning her to join him. She closed the distance between them and slid her hand into his, allowing him to lead her to the middle of the dance floor.
He spun her slowly under their joined hands then wrapped his empty arm around her waist, pulling her in close to his chest, their joined hands coming to rest over his heart. The movements took her breath away. The whole thing was straight out of her childhood dreams. They swayed to the melody under the twinkling lights and her heart all but burst. Bob pulled her so close that her head came to rest sideways on his chest and she heard his dulcet tones begin to sing the song quietly into her head.
I’ll paint you mornings of gold
I’ll spin you Valentine evenings
Though we’re strangers until now
We’re choosing the path
Between the stars
I’ll leave my love
Between the stars
She looked up at him with surprise. “You learned the words!?”
His soft smile matched the gentle look in his eyes. “I listened to it on repeat for the last three days.”
She didn’t know what to say, this was something straight out of a fairytale. Out of her dreams. He requested her song. He made her imagination come to life. Phoenix knew nothing in her life could ever overwhelm her emotions like this beautiful moment with her Bob. As she began to fight the tears pooling in her eyes, she laid her head back on his chest and continued to sway as the song came to an end. Even after the tune changed to another slow song, they just stood still, holding each other. Phoenix could feel Bobs heart pounding through his chest, and she knew her own heart matched his rushing rhythm.
She barely heard his whisper above the sounds of the party around her. “Wanna get out of here?”
Not trusting her voice as she still fought back tears, she shook her head in affirmative. His hand still holding hers moved to raise her chin and their eyes met, his looking slightly wet like hers. “Your place?” he asked nervously, his cerulean eyes searching hers.
Phoenix released a small gasp, understanding the implications of his question, then nodded her head yes as she let out a breathy “yes.”
The ride back to her small two-bedroom bungalow was quiet, Bobs old truck rumbling down the road with tender tunes on the radio and his hand holding hers on the gear shift. They didn’t look at each other, nervous tension instead filling the cab. He pulled into her driveway and hurried out of the truck, practically sprinting around to the passenger side to open her door. He offered his hand, and she took it, not ever saying a word as they walked hand in hand up to the small wooden porch. She began to open her small clutch to pull out her keys but his large hand reached up and brushed the back of her hand, stopping her movements.
“Phee” he whispered, and she looked up at him, watching his eyes cloud over. Bobs hands worked their way across the slippery fabric covering her hips and he pulled her in impossibly close. Then their lips met, slowly. Stars exploded behind her closed eyes, blinding her in white light that felt warm and inviting. His lips were smooth and moved hesitantly at first. With her ears ringing she pushed into his lips slightly and he understood her nudge, deepening the kiss assuredly. Phoenix wrapped her arms under his and around his waist as she opened her mouth slightly, allowing him entrance. So many words unspoken poured into their kiss, and the world fell down. Her walls slipped away and she realized all at once that this was the love she had been hoping for.
All at once she broke the kiss, her eyes watching his flutter open confused. She was a little breathless but she gave him a soft smile.
“Stay with me?” she asked, feeling extremely shy and vulnerable.
The almost startled expression his face shown caused her to giggle, but he managed to shake his head yes before she opened the door and led him into her dark house by his hand. Bob barely got the door closed behind him as she walked him through the house to her tiny back bedroom. Once they reached the door, she dropped his hand to enter the room and turn on the bedside lamp. He remained in the doorway, and she looked over her shoulder with a smile at him, dropping her shawl and clutch on the bedside table before she began to remove her earrings. It was like an intimate dance. His eyes were on her as she removed small articles, a show she was putting on just for him. A way of saying thank you for the special night and that she wanted this with him. She hoped she wasn’t coming on too strong to scare him away. If she really admitted the truth to herself, she had wanted Bob in this way for a long time.
Just as she was about to tell him they could just watch a movie if he wanted, she watched him strode into the room, coming to stand behind her. She was just placing the second earring on the bedside table as she felt his hands slide around her waist from behind. Her hands came to rest on his and then her body shuddered when his lips met the bare skin of her shoulder.
“Phee.” He barely said above a whisper. Then he kissed slightly higher, sending a chill straight down her spine when his warm lips met the sensitive skin where her shoulder met her neck.  “Look at me.”
She turned in his arms until they were eye to eye, her head craned back to look up at him. Bobs large hand ghosted across her cheek and into her hair, tucking a few strands behind her ear. Then that hand cupped the side of her neck, and he pulled her in for another languid kiss. Her skin felt on fire, everywhere. Phoenix had never felt this way before and she couldn’t believe what was happening, but in the best way possible. She broke the kiss with a small pop of their lips and once his eyes were open and on her she all but blurted out “I love you, Bob.”
Embarrassment at her hasty declaration was coloring her cheeks and he let out a chuckle that made her squirm with further mortification. But if Bob noticed, he didn’t say anything. He simply guided his other hand to the other side of her neck and smiled the most brilliant smile before returning her words. “I love you Natasha Trace.”
She could feel the tears welling in her eyes again as she found her words again. She felt bold as she stood up straighter and asked, “Stay with me?”
He kissed the tip of her nose then said through a smile “As long as you’ll have me.”
The next few moments were a blur of touching and kissing. Her hands worked the buttons of his vest and undoing his tie while his slid the zipper of her dress down her back. Once the tie and vest were off, she guided the straps of her dress down her arms, letting it drop to the floor. There she stood in nothing but her white strapless bra, a thin white thong, and her heels. She felt exposed and unsure of what to do as his eyes looked down her body then back up, taking her in.
“God Phee, you’re stunning. I’m, uh, I’m.” He hesitated as his eyes met her again. “I’m honored that you trust me like this.”
There was the confidence she loved hidden under the shyness. His appreciation of her was nothing she had ever experienced before, and she suddenly didn’t feel so uncertain anymore. She knew she wanted to share herself with him and in turn, take him in. Her damp eyes remained on his as her hands swiftly worked the buttons of his dress shirt open, practically ripping it off of him. Then her eyes grew wide.
“Robert Floyd, you’ve been keeping a secret.” She rasped with a mischievous look on her face. He began to blush under her scrutiny, and she giggled. Phoenix ran her manicured fingernails down his chiseled abs as she reached for his pant button.
After that, all clothes removed and his glasses discarded by her pearl earrings, they slid slowly onto her bed, a tangling of hands and kisses full of love and admiration. He worshipped her skin with his lips and touches, leaving no spot untouched. Phoenix felt like she was going to melt away, the heat of her body searing with each feather light kiss he left. He worked his way down her body, then back up, her chest now rising and falling quickly with pants of lust. She had never needed someone so much in her life as she needed Robert Floyd at that very moment. While he nibbled on the juncture of her shoulder and neck, she turned her head toward his and whispered into his ear.
“Love me. Please? Make love to me?” she asked with assurance.
Bobs eyes met hers, looking a little surprised at first, then they relaxed, a dazed grin crossing his lips. He lowered his head to kiss her as he moved himself between her legs.
It was slow and burning and passionate and beyond any of her wildest dreams. Their bodies rocked in tandem as he whispered his love onto her lips. He filled her body and spirit with everything they had been feeling for months and she couldn’t pull him close enough to her. They became one. It overwhelmed her, made her feel desperate on a whole new level she didn’t know she could feel.
The feelings overtook her, and she began to whimper as she met the most beautiful sensation she had ever felt before. Hot and freeing. She found what she had been missing. Her new favorite song became the pants of her name on his lips over and over again his own finality was reached.
A mess of hot breath, rapidly rising and falling chests, and wet eyes lay stilling in the hazy lamp light. A single tear escaped her eye, and he caught it with his finger as it ran down her cheek. Bob rolled them over and tucked her small frame into his side as their breath slowed. She felt him gently kiss the top of her head.
“Thank you.” He said through ragged breaths.
She sat up on her elbow and looked at him, trying to convey with her face all the love she felt in that moment.
“No. Thank you. For making my fairytale come true.” They smiled at each other before she moved back to his side, and she realized Bob was the morning of gold she had been waiting for. Her world was no longer falling down, and she drifted off to sleep feeling he had placed the moon within her heart. She wanted to follow a path between the stars with him forever.

“Slow down Bob,” Natasha orders, her voice husky.
Above you Bob groans, hips slowing. He’s trembling all over, face flushed. You reach up to push back the errant strands of hair falling over his brow. You’ve been at this with him for a while, with your girlfriend keeping you both on edge while she touches herself. Every time one of you gets close she makes you slow down, drawing out your pleasure. By now you’re dizzy and half-mad with want.
“I want to enjoy my show,” she reminds you both.
The way she’s sitting in a chair beside the bed, legs spread wide and feet resting on the mattress, provides an enticing view. Her fingers circle her clit several times before they sweep lower and disappear inside herself. The muscles of her toned thighs flex as she pushes against the bed and arches her back. When you glance up Bob is watching her with rapt attention.
“Oh god,” he gasps, shifting forward. You can feel him twitch inside you as your body throbs with need.
Natasha’s movements become faster and her breath comes out in short little bursts. She looks beautiful like this, on the edge of coming with her head thrown back. She cups her breast with one hand and plucks at her nipple. Your stomach tightens, and the ache between your thighs intensifies as she comes with a little shout. Seconds tick past and both you and Bob watch her, tense and needy. Finally, she opens her eyes, a satisfied smile on her face.
“You’re both so patient,” she praises softly.
She stands, leaning over to kiss you first. One hand smoothing down your throat to cup your breast. When she’s done kissing you she traces the outline of your lips with her fingers and without being asked you open your mouth and lick them clean, hollowing your cheeks. You love the way she tastes, tart, and slightly sweet. She hums appreciatively and pulls her fingers free.
“Good girl,” she whispers.
Natasha turns her attention to your boyfriend next, caressing the side of his face. He leans into her touch, eyes closing. She gives him a surprisingly gentle kiss before fixing his glasses.
“Make her come, Bob,” she commands.
He obeys her order instantly and you gasp, clutching his biceps when he snaps his hips forward. You pull him down for a kiss and wrap an arm around his shoulder, needing him close. Bob buries his face in your neck, groaning. When he mouths at the skin of your throat you rake your nails down his back.
“Touch yourself baby.”
You know Natasha is talking to you now, her dark brown eyes full of desire. You do as she asks and slip a hand between you and Bob. It feels good to touch yourself, adding to the sensations your boyfriend is drawing from your body. The coil in your gut tightens and the little sounds Bob makes are turning desperate. He’s close.
“Ladies first,” Natasha reminds him, grabbing a fistful of his dirty blond hair and yanking his head back. His whole chest is flushed and though he hasn't stopped fucking you, it’s clear he’s struggling to hold back. Neither of you wants to disappoint your girlfriend.
“I’m almost there,” you promise him, swirling your finger around your clit intently. The beginning of your orgasm sweeps up your chest and you cry out, hips rising as it intensifies and crests, consuming you.
“That’s it,” Natasha encourages as you shudder, “come for us.”
Through half-lidded eyes, you watch her release, Bob. He falls forward, thrusting into you harshly. It doesn’t take long for him to come, his hips stuttering and mouth parting soundlessly. Above you Natasha smiles, clearly pleased. She strokes Bob’s sweaty back and presses a kiss to his cheek before whispering something to him. Whatever she says makes him flush an even deeper red.
“Yes ma’am,” he agrees, looking back at you with a grin.
“What?” You ask, amused.
“Phoenix, she uh,” he starts, licking his lips. “She wants to clean you up and then uh, me after.”
“Clean us up?” You ask confused.
“With my mouth,” Natasha clarifies, pushing at Bob’s chest until he slips out of your body. She settles herself between your legs, rubbing the inside of your thighs comfortingly as she gazes at you. You can feel Bob’s cum leaking out of you. Heat creeps into your face at the way you’re on display for her. Now that your body isn't buzzing with need you feel self-conscious again.
“Love you like this,” she purrs, lifting her face to look you in the eye.
“You’re beautiful,” Bob agrees, caressing your knee. Your heart swells at their reassurance and you lay back, resting a hand on your stomach.
“You left her a fucking mess though, Bob,” she chastises. “I might be too tired to get to you after this. Baby, maybe you should help him,” she tells you.
You catch Bob’s eye, dropping your gaze to his cock. He’s still half-hard, the muscles of his stomach tensing when you lick your lips.
“I think I can manage that,” you say.
You crook a finger at him and he shuffles forward, a dopey look on his face that makes you grin in return.
God, you love them both.

The President’s Son
Tumblr media
In which Bob Floyd, the First Son of the US, is sent to a remote safe house with only his new bodyguard to accompany him after a credible threat is made against his life. Bob’s not happy about it. And neither is his bodyguard. He just wants a normal life after his mom’s public funeral and his disastrous love life. And his new bodyguard didn’t work this hard to be sidelined as an over-glorified babysitter to a privileged whiner.
It’s not your average love story, that’s for sure.
Warning: may contain common tropes, such as forced proximity, rivals to lovers, forbidden love, bodyguard AU (with traditional gender roles switched), fake dating, and much more!

Characters: Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd/Natasha ‘Phoenix’ Trace, Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin, Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw, Background Dagger Squad
Rating: Mature
.
He could be making this all up. She wouldn’t know. But Bob’s face brightens in a way she’s never seen before, he talks for longer than he did the whole first two weeks after they’d met. His shoulders are loose, his expression easy. He knows more about the sky than she ever will and, well. Isn’t that something.
After the mission, Bob and Phoenix take a road trip.
