LIAM KAZ . percy jackson verse !
child of iris, full time camper since age 10
they can fly under the radar of monsters being the child of a minor goddess
their weapon of choice is a sword disguised as a boondoggle keychain. they keep it on their person at all times either on a lanyard or clipped to their outfit
liam ends up on various quests through the years and for about a year and a half they spend more time away from camp than at it despite being there full time
one of these quests was considered successful because liam and the others accomplished and fulfilled everything, but all the others died in the process and it haunts them
iris actually spent about 5 years on and off with liam and their dad and then got together with emmett’s dad and had him. after emmett’s first or second she disappeared from their lives altogether aside from the typical messages/meddling and watching that some godly parents do
they found out about camp from their half brother’s dad and left and never looked back. they do try to keep in touch with family though, namely their half brother. their half brother joins camp part time around the time he turns 12
liam is 22-26 in this verse which is considered pretty old for a demigod. they have seen a lot of people die
they become the head counselor for the iris cabin around 14
their abilities include communicating with pegasi, bending light and illusions, and superhuman strength/speed/agility/stamina that all demigods have
their synesthesia is tied to their mother and they can actually make it manifest to others via their photokinesis and stuff
the mist hotline where people ask iris to deliver messages is actually free for liam to use (pending how their relationship is with iris at the time of use)
if timelines matter and we’re involving canon then liam lives out a majority of their life in the hermes cabin before the iris cabin is built, fights in the war on the side of the camp, and then goes to live in the newly constructed cabin and is its first head counselor etc etc i don't remember all that much

Got any suggestions for good activities for 2nd/3rd grade? Due to covid, our pool is closed, leaving me with 2 extra hours to plan programming for each day and I'm running out of inspiration... Thanks!
Hi friend,
Here are some activity suggestions for 2nd/3rd grade:
Active game time! Get the wiggles out with some games such as:
Scream and Run (if you are allowed to run).
Parachute games. Just like elementary school gym class. Sharks and minnows, making the mushroom/poof, bouncing a ball around on the waving parachute.
Team building games (part 1 and 2). I don’t recommend some of the more physical ones, due to both COVID and the age.
Jamaquacks!
Create a game with whatever available sports equipment you have. Or challenge your campers to work together to plan and play one.
Obstacle course. You can plan it yourself and then let the kids play, or split them into smaller groups and each group creates one, then they play each others.
Check out the Camp Games tag.
Arts and crafts
Keychains. It could be boondoggle/luster lace/scoubiedou, it could be those pony bead animals, or anything else you can stick on a keychain ring.
SWAP-style pins/Girl Guide Hat crafts. Unsure of if you’re at a Girl Scout camp, but you can still make things in miniature and glue a pin to them. I recommend Pinterest, there’s far too many to describe, but pick a simple one. You can also make up one that is themed to your camp. For example, I made one for talent week that is a couple of strings glued to a foam star and added a pin to make a shooting star. You can see a few options here as well.
Shrinky dinks (if you have access to an oven). You can either ask your camp to get the actual material or you can use a #7 type plastic cup and decorate that, then it bakes down into a disc.
Paper mache sculptures. Flour with water and strips of newspaper then go to town.
You could probably attempt a braided friendship bracelet.
I usually use Pinterest, I find many excellent crafts and activities there.
Miscellaneous activities
Simple word games and riddles. Use your best judgement for the group and not for too long.
Progressive stories. Basically the group creates a story. You can either play by having the kids say one word or one sentence or some other specific amount of words. Kinda fun, can get weird depending on the kids.
Outdoor skills. Learn knots, firebuilding, navigation, leave no trace, etc. You might already have this built into your day/week, but you can expand
Outdoor snack cookout. Don’t pick a huge thing to cook in 2 hours, but something simple that the kids can enjoy. I have a huge sweet tooth and love making desserts, but you can make a savory snack as well.
Some may have to be adapted to whatever your camp’s distancing rules are. I’m sure there’s tons more that people can jump in and add on as well.
Best of luck and I hope that you have a wonderful summer!

High School Reunion - A Jason Todd Ficlet
IDK I came up with this in the shower and wanted to share. Okay Imma be honest I was listening to HSM2 right before I got in the shower and man those feels from childhood came slamming back. @jason-redhood @jason-todd-squad @welovegroot
Tumblr media
Red Hood was sitting on the edge of a skyscraper. Moodily dwelling on something, probably. Making a face, I used my telekinesis to levitate up to him and sit next to him. “Whatcha thinkin’ about?” I asked. He was, evidently, so lost in thought that he hadn’t noticed me approach. Because he flinched when I spoke.
“Just... never mind.”
“What is it?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Aw come on, Red. You know I ain’t gonna judge.”
He turned, the lights behind the eyes of his helmet turned off. “Just thinking about a girl I knew. Wondering if she’s still alive.”
“Ooh. A girl. Interesting. Wanna talk about it?”
“Not really.” Red Hood stared out over Gotham. I sat in silence beside him and extracted a boondoggle keychain from my utility belt to keep my hands busy and give my mind something to half-focus on.
Red Hood sighed.
“We dated for a little bit,” he said. “The summer we were together was paradise. She threw me a birthday party and it was the first time I’d ever had a birthday party that I really enjoyed with people I wanted to celebrate with,” he said. I grunted understanding. “But... as the school year progressed... I royally messed up and she, rightly so, broke up with me. I took her for granted. Blew her off for Robin stuff too many times. The night she broke up with me, she’d gone to my house and waited there all night. When I got back, she was dozing on the sofa and my... grandfather was cross with me for what I’d done. She woke up, chewed me out, and broke up with me.
“Not long after that, I got blown up by the Joker.”
I narrowed my eyes while he spoke, my hands stilling on the boondoggle. I peeked at him out of the corner of my eyes. Something about that story resonated with me. I turned, setting my keychain on the edge of the roof next to me. “Oh my word---Jason?!” I demanded.
Before he could even reach for a gun or something, my powers popped his helmet off to reveal the mask he wore underneath it. I pinched his chin and made him turn to face me.
“What the f---it is you!” I exclaimed. “Oh man how could I be so stupid? How did I not notice it was you?”
He blinked, processing what I was saying. “Wait... you’re her!” he said.
I nodded. “Wow. It all makes sense now,” I said. “Everything clicks. Your bad excuses. You blowing off dates, random disappearances, and then absolutely up and vanishing after we broke up! Jason Todd---the Red Hood.” I let him go and used my powers to hand him back his hovering helmet. He took it and jammed it back on his head, a bit disgruntled that I’d taken it.
I sat in quiet thought for a moment. Jason just sat beside me, wrapped up in his own thoughts.
“I’m sorry,” I said.
“For what?”
“Breaking up with you. I mean, I was already Starbeam at the time. If I’d known you were Robin---”
“No. You did the right thing. You deserved better than me. And I was an idiot for not making you more of a priority.”
“Aw. Thanks,” I said.
Jason and I sat in silence for a while. I went back to weaving my boondoggle. I could sense Jason’s eyes on me, but neither of us said anything. The only sounds were the noises of the big city. Noises that we’d known our whole lives.
The pause was almost awkward when Jason took a deep breath and sighed. “Starbeam?” he asked.
“Hm?” I replied, looking up from my keychain.
“Can I... maybe... that is, if you’re willing... maybe take you to dinner?”
I glanced over at Jason. “You wanna try again?”
“Only if you’re willing. I mean, we’re adults now and we know each other’s secrets and I think... I think now, if you’d let me try, I could do right by you. Maybe not be the man you deserve, but reach for that lofty ideal.”
I tucked my boondoggle into my pocket and reached out for him. Before he could do anything, I took his hand. “Jay... I... I don’t think I could be more willing if I tried. I’d love to have dinner with you sometime.”
Jason perked up behind his helmet, sitting up straighter. “Really?”
“Yeah. On one condition.”
“Name it.”
“Kiss me right now and say you’re sorry for blowing me off.”
Without even a moment’s hesitation, Jason popped his helmet off faster than a kid popped a lollipop out of their mouth. He set the helmet to his other side, ran his gloved fingers into my hair, and leaned in closer. “I am so incredibly sorry for blowing you off when we were teenagers. Please forgive me,” he whispers, lips inches from mine.
“You’re forgiven,” I whispered back, a rush of familiar excitement sweeping through me. One I hadn’t felt since I was a teenager.
Tilting his head, he closed the gap between us and planted his lips on mine.
Fireworks.
Not literal fireworks, of course---although the silver-white light that my powers made whenever I used telekinesis to move something could have made some sort of light show. But I felt my blood and soul erupt in exhilaration.
I smiled against his lips.
His mouth fit perfectly against mine the same way it did when we were teens. He tasted like sweat, gunpowder, and a root beer-flavored chapstick.
Some things didn’t change. He’d always worn the same kind.
I reached up and pushed my fingers into his thick, soft black hair, pulling his head closer to me. His arm closest to me wrapped around my waist and pulled me so I was flush against him, our thighs pressed together.
When he pulled back, his eyes behind his mask were glittering like a disco ball made of diamonds. He smiled, breathless. “I’ll pick you up Friday at six?”
“Unless someone breaks out of Arkham.”
“Then it’s a date.”
“I look forward to it.”
“Me too.”

in jksf has logan ever tried a weighted blanket/does he have one? also what are his favorite stim toys/things that help him?
This was so fun and I have SO MUCH MORE to say so please ask me about Logan and autism please please please
Weighted Blanket
Yes, Logan does have a weighted blanket it and it has a Story
okay so as a child Logan got a weighted blanket bc it was recommended as something that helped autistic kids
and it helps him a lot. The weight is grounding and nice, and it helps him calm down from overstimulation
The Problem: Logan’s parents would take it away whenever he “misbehaved” (ie. meltdowns, shutdowns, overstimulation, etc)
This is v bad, considering these are the times he needed it Most
As he got older, the weight wasn’t proportionate to his own, making it not as effective
His parents refused to get him a new one, insisting that he was “too old for that”
Logan may or may not have had a meltdown over that
As a freshman in college, a new weighted blanket is one of the first selfish purchases Logan makes
(Remember y’all: selfish does NOT = bad!! it just means doing things for yourself which can oftentimes be extremely important!!)
He still his old weighted blanket to this day, because it is Important to him and he’s not ready to part with it. He pulls it out every once and awhile just to feel it.
His new one- being the correct weight- obviously works a lot better. Logan throws it over himself whenever he needs that nice Heavy feeling.
His partners also know to grab it if he’s overwhelmed and do so often
Other Stim Stuff
Logan didn’t grow up with a lot of stim toys past the age of 5-7 years old bc he was “too old for that stuff” so he had to improvise
He got a watch before he even knew how to read it just so that he had something to play with
Not Actually Stim Items that he would stim with included his watch, jacket strings (chewing), tapping pencils against other pencils, the nice noise when a mechanical pencil lead is soft on that one side in just the right way, pressing calculator buttons, chewing ice, flipping through books
He isn’t really introduced to the concept of things specifically made for stimming until the second chapter of Exothermic. After he is introduced boy has Good Time.
Stim Toys: marble trap, fidget cubes, keychains with beads, boondoggles, actual chews, those stone things, spinner rings, tangles
He still stims with a bunch of things that aren’t stim toys, but now he also has these
He was very hesitant to get the chews bc internalized ableism telling him that chews are “childish” and shit
He also has what I’m calling “natural stims” which I just mean, stims that aren’t with Other Things
Natural stims: Hands, Bouncing legs, Pulling hair, Chewing on inside of mouth, Watching videos of cool animals (especially ones with colors), Watching illusion like things, Humming, Groaning “Muh” sound from the back of throat, Rocking, Head shaking, Petting Trixies fur
Stims A Lot with his hands and they mean different things
a) Flappy Hands- excitement, fascination, curiosity, pleased, etc
b) Clenched Hands- frustrated, mad, upset, confused, often times mad at himself
c) Wringing Hands- nervous, overwhelmed, confused, out of place, etc
Things That Help Him
I’m interpreting this as things that help him calm down when Overstimulated/Experiencing Sensory Overloads/Meltdowns/Shutdowns/etc
His Headphones
Weighted Blanket
Space but knowledge that Someone Is There
Time
Stim (toy or natural stim)
Reminders afterwards that him experiencing these things is Okay and he is Not Less of a person for these things
Sorry it took me a while to respond to this, things came up. Just so you know, if I ever wasn’t going to answer an ask, I would answer it, saying that I wasn’t going to answer it for whatever reason. Thanks for being patient!

I started making this boondoggle thing a couple months ago, on and off, and I just realized that they're blue and yellow. A.k.a Ukraine colors. And if since I have a bunch of that material left, I had this thought.. I could make a bunch of keychains, sell them and donate the profits to people in Ukraine/their military/or notable charities.
