i finally started watching hospital playlist.
i received many recommendations from my friends, but the reason that made me finally decide to watch it was listening to Jo Jung Seok’s cover of Aloha *-*
so yes, i’m late to the party and the party has probably ended but i finally arrived

13.10.2020 // Practice and consolidation
I finally found some time to review material that I covered a few weeks back and did some practice exercises as well. I’m in the midst of consolidating the grammar points that I have learnt from this chapter (one of them was hard to grasp at first) and I think i’ll put it in a post soon!

15.06.2020 // korean revision
today i’m revisiting the korean news articles that i was studying in february. i was trying to expand my vocabulary through reading news articles in korean so that i can converse about current affairs some day. this was back when the coronavirus just started spreading out of China and Asian countries were impacted the most back then. it was (and still is) something that has greatly affected our lives and i want to be able to talk about it with my korean friends so looked up some articles on naver, wrote out the entire article and picked out words that i didn’t know.
i still have one article for which i have not organised the words that i don’t know and i’ll be doing that now. i know it’s been four months hahahaha, but i was really busy with my final year thesis until recently.
i think reading news articles is a really good way of practicing and expanding your vocabulary for your target language once you’re at a more advanced level!

9.10.2020 - Cafe reading
I went to a cafe today with my boyfriend to study. We wanted to get some of the cakes, but they were sold out within the first two hours of opening....It didn’t use to be this popular until a few popular food blogs started talking about them. On one hand, I’m happy for their business, particularly during recent trying times, but on the other hand, it’s sad that I won’t get to enjoy their cakes easily anymore. I spent a few hours reading my korean book titled “I want to die, but I want to eat ddeokbokki 죽고 싶지만 떡볶이는 먹고싶어”. It’s a pretty casual and easy read so I would recommend it for intermediate to advanced learners! Hope to finish this book within the next week or so before work officially starts for me.

2020.07.05 // korean revision - yonsei academic korean Intermediate I
I bought this book two years back when I was on student exchange at Yonsei University, but I obviously have not touched it....the same can be said with many of my other language books hahahaha. I did a quick scan of the content pages and I think I’ve covered most of the grammar and vocabulary in this book, but I thought it would be a great revision since it’s been a while since I officially took classes. I kind of forgot most of my grammar - it comes kind of naturally to me now, but sometimes when I have to figure out how to use a certain structure with a new word that i’ve learnt, i realised that i don’t remember the exact grammar rules anymore...
i think that’s what it means to learn a language and it’s perfectly normal, but i bought the book and lugged it back in my 30kg suitcase so i shall try to make the most out of it hahaha

22.06.2020 // korean revision
i found an opinion column in a newspaper that i really like! the column is called 2030 세상보기 (Looking at the world in 2030) and it’s a column where youth or young adults write about their perspectives of society. It’s a collection of opinion pieces that covers a diverse range of topics. Today, I read a piece titled “Where does courage come from?” and it was really beautifully written. Personally, I found myself being able to relate to a lot of what was written. Maybe i’ll try translating parts of it in future when I have the time. In the meantime, you can check the article out in the source link!

I bought both versions of blonote the moment the english version came out, but I have yet to finish either one of them - as you can see, my bookmark is still pretty near the top. Tablo suggested putting this book somewhere within reach for moments when our hearts are restless, but I always forget about it even though it’s right on my desk. I am going to try to do a series comparing both versions and breaking down some korean vocabulary. Hopefully, I’ll finish the book soon enough!

just watched ssak3’s 다시 여기 바닷가 (beach again) music core stage and i can’t believe that lee hyori is already over 40....she’s still so youthful and radiant...actually, it’s impressive that all three of them can perform such a youthful and bubbly song so well! meanwhile, i have back aches and get tired after 30s of choreography when i’m still in my 20s hahahahahaha

it’s my first time getting tagged in a post since the inception of this langblr! thank you @bulletproof-korean hehehe
I just started my langblr not long ago so I don’t know a lot of langblrs and I’ve not talked to the ones I’ve followed either so I hope this is not too random! I’d like to get to know fellow langblrs (regardless of language) more and maybe we can motivate each other to continue on this learning journey.
Rules: You can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to. Put your music on shuffle and list the first ten songs, then tag ten people. No skipping!
Jannabi 잔나비 - for lovers who hesitate 주저하는 연인들을 위해
Maye - Tú    (does anyone know any songs similar to this?)
The Black Skirts 검정치마 - Everything
George 죠지 - look at me 바라봐줘요
Cheeze 치즈 - Mood Indigo
Jukjae 적재 - Lullaby
Mayday 五月天 - Dokodemo doa 任意门
Baek Yerin 백예린 - Maybe it’s not our fault 그건 아마 우리의 잘못은 아닐거야
The Black Skirts 검정치마 - Heya 혜야
Li Ronghao 李荣浩 - 年少有为
I love all of these songs! I used my “On repeat” spotify playlist so maybe that’s why so many of my favourites came out. I really love Jannabi and The Black Skirts. Every time I listen to their songs, I feel like I’m being transported to another dimension. They’re especially nice to listen to at night on the walk back home.

9.7.2020 // japanese revision
today, i’m spending some time to revise my n3 syllabus. even though i passed the n3 exam in 2018, i have no idea how i did it because i just remember rushing through the syllabus two weeks before the exam as I didn’t have time to do so during the school term. i want to properly learn what was covered in n3 first before moving onto n2! i’m also planning on using the language more often so i might start using hellotalk again.
how about you? what are your learning goals recently?

i’m finally done with my goal today....this was quite tough to get through because it’s about politics and there’s a lot of words that i’ve not seen before. i should try doing a fun article someday hahahaha
intially, i wanted to get this done within an hour, but ended up getting so distracted with other work. then my friends called me at around 4pm and we played call of duty for almost two hours 🤦🏻‍♀️ i always want to be one of those really productive people, but in actual fact, i’m so far from it.... i really should work harder on this hahahaha

{29.07.20} drawing practice
unrelated to languages or studying, but i’ve decided to spend some time to unwind at the end of the day by watching one of my online art class and following along~
i’ve uploaded the final art on my art instagram page @kayapan.n -> there’s nothing much and i’m not half as good as the amazing artists on instagram, but i really enjoy my time just drawing and momentarily forgetting about the problems that i have!
i’m really impressed at those people who can self-teach themselves how to draw. i’m the kind of person who needs a little bit of hand-holding from an instructor whenever i attempt to learn a new skill so when i tried to self-teach myself, i really didn’t know where to start! this was why i decided to sign up for some classes to get myself started. i really hope that one day i can use those techniques that i’ve learnt to draw my own characters and illustrations~
