I have two different readings of Concord which all depend on what I do with Whole (concept and character), to the point it feels like one one of them would be an AU and no, I'm not saying which one it is. But while I have my headcanons and "rules", I will also say that Concord without much else known is also a comedy to me.

I like that even though they do questionable things the one constant thing the 141 has is a very high sense of righteousness against injustice especially when it’s against innocent and defenseless people

i think it’s so beautiful how there are certain language features that we reserve purely for poetry and the like; there’s strict syntactical rules when speaking english day-to-day but if you want to play with them? bend them? break them? in the name of art? sure, go ahead. you can go a long way without impairing communication of your message, and on top of that—it just sounds prettier.

#i thought of this when reading some poem last week or the week before #and then i thought of it again listening to the mechs’ underworld blues #when heracles says ‘i came here your dog to seize’ #and then the very next day i had a spanish linguistics seminar on syntax where we were discussing when to use verb-object or object-verb #and in translating examples noticed when it’s acceptable to switch them in english too #though of course it works differently #but like ‘a castle stood upon the hill’ vs ‘upon the hill there stood a castle’ #that one’s only a mild example of this really though #not just restricted to poetry but common in prose too #of course there’s a lot of crossover and these rules are more lenient when writing prose than when speaking in daily life #but i’m more thinking of the absolute refusal to follow grammatical rules in favour of creating rhythm and rhyme that you find often #in poetry #i just love language #and this is just the standard rule breaking of poetry not even when people make a point of breaking rules as part of their art #poetry #language #dark academia #linguistics #english language

I think people watch those things as punishment because they don't have the means, time, extra money, etc, to do anything meaningful to help. So at least they can acknowledge and bear witness to the horror, even if they're not able to actually help.

right but like. "at least they can do this" makes it sound like doing that is actually materially useful, and i'm not convinced it is. i think in many cases it is only increasing the number of people suffering in the world. i agree that people are doing it because they feel powerless in other regards but in the majority of cases i think it's harming more than helping

I think it would be an improving experience for the writers who think surprising their audiences or leaving them sad and unsatisfied is the pinnacle of artistic achievement and have not noticed that the easiest way to bring that about is in fact to be bad at your job and the fans who think it should be illegal to write an ensemble or fail to clearly signpost the endgame couples or whether there's a happy ending to spend some time together, creatively speaking. I'd be improved by watching #my mood specifically #I know dunking on the former is too easy in a post got world but they have plagued me for so long #i do understand how frustrating it can be to feel like the reader-writer contract is being broken #but I also feel very strongly that you've gotta give writers room to change their minds and explore the story as it goes #especially in collaborative serialized story telling where they really aren't going to have a full sense of how everything is landing until #fairly late in the process #and like. I'm not here to tell anyone how to enjoy a story #but I also think that if some of these people experienced the epic highs and lows of not knowing exactly where a story is going from #the beginning they would enjoy it #like at their best genre expectations function like the structure of a sonnet and part of the trick is bringing that form to life and #working within that structure #but breaking the rules can be so much fun! as can throwing them out the window #and also often they are not at their best and just turn everything to boring cardboard #my personal vendetta against romance as a genre aside I love fantasy I will defend it to the end but so much of it is not as good as it #could be for this reason and that makes me sad

while byan's dyslexia and ptsd is a little up in the air in terms of diagnosis, they have been given a diagnosis of conduct disorder and oppositional defiant disorder through the mandatory counselling and the various psychiatric evaluations they've had throughout their life. ptsd, adhd, dyslexia, and depression are all assumed to be present as well, based on observation and information provided by teachers, caretakers, and foster parents, but remain unconfirmed due to byan's tendency to be extremely difficult with psychiatrists and psychologists and the inconsistency of the amount of time spent with those who have provided outside observation.

byan has, of course, never been cooperative in any treatment.
