Do you ever find yourself comparing your writing to others? If so, how do you handle it?

Dear Anon,

It happened (And still happen sometime) and I didn't handle it well at all. I'm someone who doubts myself a lot and has low self-esteem, so inevitably my thoughts were very negative towards my writing. It got to the point where I wondered whether I should continue writing.

Then one day, I received a comment on one of my first stories, and the person was telling me about the positive impact this story had had on their life. Something I'd actually created had that power. It couldn't be as bad as I thought. I reread the story in question and guess what? … I thought it was bad. Then I reread the last one I'd written and found it better. That was the first time I realized myself that I progressed.

Then I remembered why I was writing, to be better than others? To prove something? To win an award? No. Because I loved it, because I enjoy it, because I wanted to make characters happy who weren't happy in their original story. And the reason that was added after, because it brought happiness to other people.

What I also keep in mind now is that we're all different, we all have different creative processes, we all write for different reasons, different genres… So why compare myself to others? It's like judging a fish by its ability to climb a tree (me being the fish) when it feels so good in the water.

I don't have a miracle remedy, but mine when I have this tendency to compare myself to other again is to read old comments, read an old story and a recent one of mine and what helps a lot too it’s encourage other writers.

As usual, when it comes to ananlysis and my thoughts, it's a mess, but I hope I've answered your question.

Sooo .. can we all agree that most of the Shadowlands dilemma happened because that realm seems to have had abysmal communication skills and lags of "Plan B"?

First of: it was revealed, that the Primus designed Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination which ALSO means that he must have been in Zovaals fangs before the Scourge attacked Lorderon in the living Realm. So the Primus was missing WAY before Argus knocked out the Arbiter and it was even earlier that he had hidden his Sigil. So he must have known that something was about to happen (we ignore the theory that the primus himself was the mastermind behind everything and not zovaal) so WHY didn't he inform his Siblings?

Next point: it was shown in one of Ardenwealds cinematics, that Elune CAN communicated with the Winter Queen at will. So WHY didn't she gave her a heads up that she is about to sacrifice her followers to have their souls aid her Sister instead of making it a surprise and ruin their relationship when things got sideways? The Winter Queen could have given the memory of that talk to the Archon as a proof, so that the Kyrian could ferry any Nightelf related to the Burning directly to Ardenweald. That way a few thousand souls would have been spared from the Maw.

Which leads us to the Souls: Why the fuqk wasn't there an emergency meeting right after the Arbiter went down? She was an Eternal One after all and having her go bye bye out of the blue for the Attendants should have been enough of a reason to call in the squad (or the trio at that point) to figure things out. One would think, that at least at some point the Winter Queen would have used her deity-intercom to ask what the F is going on. Even if Gramps is gone and King Count act like nothing is happening, it would still be three against one in a voting and the Ladies including the Attendants with help of the Brokers could have handled the soul mess until further instructions available ...

At that point it is no wonder that Kyrestia went on as if nothing happened. To her, her Siblings doesn't deem it necessary to act so yes, it is wrong what they are doing and yes they should handle it differently but acting up will most likely get her banned, too. So smile, continue and be ready to deal with the fallout.

I really up Pelagos is summoning them regularly to ask for updates now. At least it seems that the realms are communicating now way better when we left.

I love how Tumblr works compared to other social media platforms

Rather than being based on how popular and then having an algorithm push it you just have to use hashtags to categorize your post, and then you just see a bunch of people liking and reposting your post and you have to wonder if it’s because either you make a very good post or if you’re just a dumbass and people think it’s funny
