Grayditch 9/3/77
So much for raiders. The tunnels were full of ants, but guess what? They could breathe fire. Some Doctor Lesko turned out to have created them, and at first I thought it could be some experiment gone wrong of his.
When I got to the surface, I was approached by a young child, Bryan Wilks, who said much of the town had been lost to the ants. I found his best friend, his father, and many other townsfolk killed around the city -- he was the only one left.
So I knew I had to go back into those tunnels, and a gigantic ant queen was waiting for me down there. Now, Lesko said not to hurt her, but fuck that guy. When I find Bryan a new home, I'm going to make sure Lesko can't do this to any other settlements. These people were just like those in 101, hopes crushed by madmen who thought they believed in the 'greater good.'

Earth 66
1) Story you would write for Chris and Jon if it’s up to you?
2) Story you would write for the Grayson-And’r kids?
3) Between Chris and Mar’i , who’s likely to wake up before the other and make breakfast for them?
4) Favorite Pro Wrestlers for both New Young Justice and Young Titans? (If they’re into that)
5) If Chris and Jon were a wrestling tag team, what’ll be their theme song?
Good questions @paladin-of-nerd-fandom65 :D
1:
Aftermath Zod: after the battle & death of his father, General Zod, Chris decided to stay in his room suffering from depression after betraying his family & earth working as a sleeper agent. Jon goes into his room to check up on him & tells him they would always be family no matter what. (Chris is a little jealous that he isn’t the bio son) they both hug, crying into each others shoulders.
2: Young Fight Club: taking some ideas from Victor Zassz hosting a underground fight club for kids, however the host is either: a OC named Knuckle, a 14-16 year old thug who runs a kid gang kidnapping children to fight, OR OR in a au, Colin Wilkes who is a villain after so much mistreatment from the foster care system. (Here he has no venom powers, just beefy muscles) (both has brass knuckles or gloves that can hurt metahumans)
Jake & mar’i decides to look upon some missing kids posters & mange’s to find a underground fight club; Jake, wearing something gangster looking (XD) decides to be undercover fighting others (other tough looking kids) & mar’i sneaks away to save the missing kids.
The final battle ends with Knuckle/Abuse getting his butt kicked by Jake & mar’i; he ends up with drawings on his face & his underwear pulled up from his butt.
3: hmmmm Chris, definitely thanks to his mom & dad, but mar’i does cook too. (With either partner wrapping their arms & hands around the other’s stomach, with a kiss on the cheek.)
4: (only doing the members that might watch wrestling)
Jon Kent: John Cena, Undertaker, Seth Rolllins, Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hottie, Daniel Bryan, Kane.
Hunter Trevor: Roman Reigns, Sheamas, CM Punk, Edge, Cody Rhones.
Hector Hall: Chris Jericho, The Shield, CM Punk, John Cena, The Rock.
Jake Grayson: John Cena, The UnderTaker, Brock Lenser, The Rock, Roman Reigns.
5: definitely Too Cool’s “you look fly today.” Fits them perfectly XD or maybe the Superman theme with both running around the “stage” with white shirts, jeans, & shoes, plus a red blanket for Jon & a blue blanket for Chris wrapped around their necks.
Thanks for the asks! Let me know if you got more! :-)

The Guardian
May 1, 2023
The defining experience of Jordan Zamora-Garcia’s high school career – a hands-on group project in civics class that spurred a new city ordinance in his Austin suburb – would now violate Texas law.
Since Texas lawmakers in 2021 passed a ban on lessons teaching that any one group is “inherently racist, sexist or oppressive”, a little-noticed provision of that legislation has triggered a massive fallout for civics education across the state.
Tucked into page 8 is a stipulation outlawing all assignments involving “direct communication” between students and their federal, state or local officials – short-circuiting the training young Texans receive to participate in democracy itself.
Zamora-Garcia’s 2017 project to add student advisers to the city council, and others like it involving research and meetings with elected representatives, would stand in direct violation.
Since 2021, 18 states have passed laws restricting teachings on race and gender. But Texas is the only one nationwide to suppress students’ interactions with elected officials in class projects, according to researchers at the free expression advocacy group Pen America.
Practically overnight, a growing movement to engage Texas students in real-world civics lessons evaporated. Teachers canceled time-honored assignments, districts reversed expansion plans with a celebrated civics education provider and a bill promoting student civics projects that received bipartisan support in 2019 was suddenly dead in the water.
“By the time we got to 2021, civics was the latest weapon in the culture wars,” state representative James Talarico, sponsor of that now defunct bill, said.
Texas does require high schoolers to take a semester of government and a semester of economics, and is one of 38 states nationwide that mandates at least a semester of civics. But students told the 74 the courses typically rely on book learning and memorization, without hands-on lessons in civic participation.
“Students are now banned from advocating for something like a stop sign in front of their school,” Talarico said.
Civics in retreat
The sections of the 2021 law limiting civic engagement pull directly from model legislation authored by the conservative scholar Stanley Kurtz, whose extensive writings seek to link an approach called “action civics” – what he calls “woke civics” – with leftist activism.
Kurtz argues the practice is a form of political “indoctrination” under the “deceptively soothing” heading of “civics”, a cause long celebrated on both the right andthe left.
The action civics model was popularized by the nonprofit Generation Citizen and is used in more than a thousand classrooms across at least eight states. It teaches students about government by having them pick a local issue, research it and present their findings to officials.
The central philosophy is that “students learn civics best by doing civics”, Generation Citizen policy director Andrew Wilkes said.
Generation Citizen’s method has been studied by several academic researchers who found participants experienced boosted civic knowledge and improvements in related academic areas like history and English.
Kurtz, however, contends the projects “tilt overwhelmingly to the left”.
“Political protest and lobbying ought to be done by students outside of school hours, independently of any class projects or grades,” he said in an email to the 74.
Civics experts, however, argued otherwise.
Tumblr media
Representative Steve Toth and Senator Bryan Hughes, the GOP lawmakers who sponsored the 2021 Texas classroom censorship legislation, did not respond to requests for comment.
The 74 reviewed more than three dozen action civics projects in Texas from before the 2021 legislation and found that the vast majority dealt with hyperlocal, nonpartisan issues.
Students most often took up causes like bullying, youth vaping, movie nights in the park or bringing back student newspapers. A handful in Austin and nearby Elgin could be considered progressive, including projects dealing with gun control or school admissions prioritizing diversity, topics educators said students selected based on their own interests.
Under the 2021 law, student participants in all of those projects now must avoid contact with elected officials. The restrictions have resulted in initiatives more contained to schools themselves like advocacy for less-crowded hallways or longer lunch periods, educators said.
It’s an effort to “tamp down the next generation of leaders”, said Armando Orduña, the Houston executive director of Latinos for Education.
Though some project-based civics lessons in Texas continue with a paired-down scope, others have disappeared altogether.
One school district north of Dallas decided “out of an abundance of caution” to reverse years of precedent and stop offering course credit to students involved in a well-regarded national civic engagement program, the Texas Tribune first reported.
And Generation Citizen, too, has seen its footprint in Texas dwindle.
After a 2017 launch in the state, the organization underwent several years of steady growth, with more than a half-dozen districts using its programming or curricula.
Austin schools expanded their contract with the nonprofit to $58,000, according to records the 74 obtained from the district through a freedom of information request. And Dallas said it wanted to bring Generation Citizen programming to every high schooler in its 153,000-student district, former regional director Meredith Stefos Norris said.
Then came the 2021 legislative session and “everything got turned upside down”, said Megan Brandon, Generation Citizen’s current Texas program director. It thwarted their organization’s efforts and districts backed out of partnerships.
The organization now primarily works with just three Texas districts, including an updated contract with Austin schools for $3,000 – a tiny sliver of the sum from a few years prior.
Brandon, a former social studies teacher herself, grieves for the youth in her state. Her students in Bastrop outside Austin, most of whom did not have parents who attended college, never had access to civic engagement opportunities before her class, she said.
“Students in Texas need civics more than students in many other states,” she said. “It feels like we’re going backwards in time.”
‘It made me feel important’
Zamora-Garcia, Brandon’s former student whose youth representation quest changed a city ordinance, said the experience, now inaccessible to Texas students, had a profound impact on his academic career.
Tumblr media
Mabel Zhu, who took the same class two years later, said the experience was “life-changing”, igniting her passion for civic engagement for years to come.
After the class, she began working with local nonprofits and served as the youth adviser on the Bastrop city council. She collaborated with the Cultural Arts Board to put up a mural that will define her city’s downtown space for years to come. A waving flag on the painting proclaims: “The future is ours!”
“Without [the class], I wouldn’t have been able to make such an impact within my community,” Zhu said.
But now, Tufts’s Kawashima-Ginsberg says, the new law may result in a generation of Texans growing up with a stunted sense of citizenship.
“It’s going to really damage their idea of what democracy is,” she said.
This report was first published by the 74, a nonprofit, nonpartisan news site covering education in America

I don't know much about Ruth so I'll ask the entire hearts section nyeheheheh
ruth's my lone wanderer! (fallout 3 protagonist) i think youd like him. he very much tries hard to be A Tough Guy because apocalyptic wasteland, but at his core he's a very soft man just trying to survive and learn to love the world around him and his place in it.
❤️ RED HEART — what are three of your oc's positive traits?
ruth is loyal and selfless and kind, down to his core. the wasteland is scary and cold and dangerous. despite it, he does Good - little things that he doesn't think matter, but that's just not the way the world works. a little girl gets hurt and even though he doesnt know her well, she's alone in a town far from her home, and he goes there to spend time with her so she's not alone. when bryan wilks comes to him asking for help, ruth drops everything to do so. and when when bryan's dad is discovered to have passed, ruth sets aside his own grief of leaving home to help this boy as much as he can, even through ruth is barely a man himself.
🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?
down to his core to a fault. he trusts too often, and trusts the wrong people sometimes, usually more often. he's loyal until he gets burned; he doesn't have the foresight to see when things are bad until it's directly in his face. he trusts too much, too hard, and his judgement is Not Great.
and the wasteland is scary, and he is barely a man himself - 19 years old and kicked out of the only home he ever knew because of his father, the only family he's ever had. his coping mechanisms aren't. well they aren't good. he copes with drugs, alcohol, sex. anything to check out mentally.
[you should ask me some details of my ocs if youd like]
💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc's negative traits?
growing up in vault 101 under the thumb of an abusive and overbearing overseer, being fed 200 years worth of xenophobia towards the topside, as well as america propaganda about "the strongest country in the world", with a nice dose of a deep christian upbringing within the vault, ruth is. well. he's misled, you could say. he doesn't mean to be but oh my god he has some ideologies he needs to unpack (don't worry, he will).
but because of All That he has a complex about the people in the wasteland. he's not cruel, he's just a man at the cusp of adulthood trying to survive, but his morals and his politics are very... they're very. he sides with the enclave because he believes in their speech about the restoration of america. he thinks he needs to be selfish and cruel an dmean because That's How You Survive The Wasteland. he's mean because he thinks he has to be because he doesn't see people of the wasteland as civilized as himself or the vault (he learns otherwise, that infact the people of the vault are cruel and mean, but it takes awhile)
he's easily manipulated, with drugs and alcohol. loyal to a fault to the father who abandoned him, who had ruth raised in the environment in the vault because of james' own fears of the wasteland above. ruth does not see that james was a bad father and thus isn't even at the point of unpacking that he has severe daddy issues that the cruel, conniving men of the wasteland can sniff out like a truffle pig.
💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?
if you asked him he'd say finding his dad. going back home. god and the restoration of america. his morals. but to his core he cares about love, connection, community. he wants to live, not just survive, with his friends, his loved ones, and he wants to be happy. ruth always thought the people of the vault were his community, even as they were mean to him, because he knew nothing else, and he clung to the idea of it like a lifeline. it was the only thing keeping him going. but the wasteland is full of people just like him, who are kind, who love, who have passions, and while some of them are mean - a lot of them are mean - there are those who are not, and smile when they see him, and ruth will take detours and go out of his way just to get a nuka-cola for them, just to see them smile. that's so important to him.
🧡 ORANGE HEART — does your oc tend to prioritize family or friends?
[ gestures above ] one could say
💛 YELLOW HEART — how many languages does your oc speak? what language(s) are they learning, if any?
ruth only speaks english, but gretchen (mentioned little girl earlier) teaches him ASL, and during his time in the wasteland he picks up some phrases in other languages. i imagine him in his future being moderate in a ton of languages :)
💚 GREEN HEART — does your oc prefer being inside or outside?
please put him back in the vault PLEAAAASSEEE put him back in the vault
💙 BLUE HEART — does your oc have any cool/special powers and/or abilities? how are they with magic, if it exists in their world?
ruth is proficient in having the worst judge of character and making the absolute worst decision making. otherwise he's strong and good at bat swinging. he'd be good at punching if he like. knew how to throw a punch.
💜 PURPLE HEART — what is your oc's ancestry/genetic background?
yeah yeah james is voiced by liam neeson i made ruth irish blah blah thats so basic I MADE HIM WITH I WAS 15. what do you want from me.
🖤 BLACK HEART — has your oc killed or seriously wounded anyone before? have they broken someone's heart and/or broken someone's trust?
i have not decided if ruth has killed anyone during his escape of vault 101 but the answer is: probably. maybe? in the game you kind of have to but when do we abide by canon here. he does seriously wound someone tho; himself, right after leaving the vault, blinded by the sun (seeing it for the first time) and never having the deal with terraine before he walks right over the cliffs edge. gets some nice gashes on the left side of his face. [ jack baker voice ] welcome to the wasteland boy

Falloutober 2022 Prompt 9: Dear Hearts
The people of Megaton were kind, for the most part. They were the sort of people that believed in “Live and let live.” The vault hadn’t been like that. Everything was strict rules and expectations for the future. Rivet City wasn’t too bad. People were a lot grumpier, and worked a little harder, but were still good people, for the most part.
That “for the most part” is what always got Maria. She always wondered how someone could grow up and live in a wasteland for all their lives and still be mostly good. Maybe it was just that control and power corrupts, like it did with the Overseer. Because these people had no power over what happened in their lives, and very little chance to gain power and control over other’s lives.
But even so, Maria found herself in situations where she gained control, or could gain control, of other people. The Mechanist and Ant Agonizer, Bryan Wilks, Hannibal Hamlin and other escaped slaves, even all of Megaton from the stupid bomb at the center. But Maria felt that the people she ended up saving and protecting were the people that deserved to be saved, the ones with good hearts, and kind souls.
And no matter how many times she was offered a better reward for doing the wrong things, she could never bring herself to do them. She always did what seemed like the best course of action for the best result. Which is why she stood here among the fallen ghouls in Tenpenny Tower.
Roy Phillips had wanted to be allowed access into the Tower, he had told Maria that she could get the residents to accept them, he had played her open bleeding heart like a game and got what he wanted. He killed all those people, and though Maria didn’t really like them, they still hadn’t done anything wrong. But once she found out that Roy had everyone killed, she went in and wiped out the ghouls herself. She was the reason all those people died, and she was the reason all those ghouls died.
Some people did bad things for the right reasons, others did bad things for the wrong reasons, but sometimes true motives hid from you, and you end up doing bad things, when all you want is for everyone to get along.

By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – The 2023-24 regular season has ended. The Hartford Wolf Pack wrapped up the campaign with three games over the weekend, their final preparation for the upcoming 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Pack are enjoying a well-deserved day off on Monday. On-ice preparation will begin tomorrow for the First Round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Friday, April 19th, 2024, Vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (3-2 W): The Wolf Pack ended the home portion of their season with a sweep of a three-game homestand on Friday night. Bryan Yoon scored his second goal of the season 17:26 into the second period, burying a rebound after Joel Blomqvist denied a Bobby Trivigno shot from the right-wing circle. Nikolas Brouillard made it 2-0 Wolf Pack 43 seconds into the third period, snapping a shot by Blomqvist's glove for his fifth goal of the season. The Penguins responded with two goals in 39 seconds, stunning the crowd and tying the game 2-2. Jack Rathbone waited out a sliding defender before snapping his ninth goal of the season by Louis Domingue at 7:58, making it a 2-1 game. Thirty-nine seconds later, at 8:37, Austin Rueschhoff poked home a rebound for his 15th season goal to tie the game 2-2. The Penguins got into penalty trouble late, however, taking slashing minors at 12:04 and 12:59. With Taylor Fedun and Dmitri Samorukov in the penalty box, the Wolf Pack took advantage of the ensuing five-on-three. Nic Petan blasted a one-timer from the right-wing circle that snuck by Blomqvist at 13:22. The goal, PetaPetPetaPetan'shh, proved to be the game-winner. Goaltender Hugo Ollas, who made his professional debut in the game, made 14 saves to collect his first career victory.
