Armed Detective Agency Headcanons

Dazai and Ranpo have a silent agreement that when Dazai is out avoiding work he will bring back a snack for Ranpo.

Kunikida has candy on him at all time for Ranpo.

Fukuzawa once took a nap at work, for one reason or another, and everyone panicked except Dazai. Ranpo was on the cusp of freaking out and not caring so he ended up just doing what he normally does.

All the ladies in the office have a system where they take breaks in pairs, the first time Kyouka went with she thought she was being turned into the police.

Kenji once brought a bale of hay to the office because he forgot he was carrying it. Kunikida was annoyed but lost for words.

Jun'ichiro and Naomi make each other snacks or get snacks for each other once a month as a special "thanks for being there" to each other.

Atsushi, on the brief moments he actually naps at work, purrs.

the true-est form of love must be sharing food -- you need food (and water) to live, to take that and give it to someone else is like saying 'i need you to live', its like taking part of your life and placing it in front of someone saying 'here, this is me' and letting them have it

Rewatching this series has allowed me to notice the quite frankly hilarious exchange between Kunikida & Jun’ichirou during Atsushi’s entrance exam.

Jun’ichirou is trying to act tough with threatening Kunikida until he—out of nowhere, says this shit:

And Kunikida, understandably, is like excuse me??

Now, you can see the exact moment Jun’ichirou realizes he fucked up. Idk how much improv experience Tanizaki has, but I doubt he intended to make his demand that kinky, and it shows.

But it’s too late to change his bad boy act now, so he doubles down.

At this point, you can tell Kunikida takes a moment to lower his blood pressure, before he just resigns with a “this may as well happen” sort of face.

Like IMAGINE. You tell your colleague to pretend to be a psycho bomber and he asks you to do THIS shit??? Like Tanizaki do you have something you wanna share with the class?

You gotta hand it to Kunikida for keeping a straight face the whole time though, goddamn. He may be a tightass, but he committed to that role.

Headcanon that the ADA has a double sided whiteboard with like schedule and mission details written on the front and a betting chart on the back

Something mildly exciting happens and Dazai or Yosano flip the board and start gathering bets

Dazai: “Hmm…¥1.000! All for aye?”

They have a detailed plan on how to literally fucking defy death and bring him back to life, a plan which Yosano is heavily involved in

Kunikida routinely calls and cooks for him. They fight in perfect sync after four days of them meeting

Fukuzawa trusted Dazai ON HIS WORDS ALONE with Atsushi’s entrance exam and getting him used to the Agency and didn’t get involved just because he put his faith in Dazai

Atsushi hallucinates Dazai when he’s in distress and looking for help, the fear he had for the Headmaster was once the strongest force in his life was replaced with his gratitude and love for Dazai

Fukuzawa says during the Guild Arc that he wouldn’t even consider allying themselves with the PM, but he’s still fine with Dazai, the Demon Prodigy, joining the Agency’s ranks

Ranpo knew from the start that Dazai was an executive for the fucking Port Mafia, the Demon Prodigy and just went “sure fucking whatever” and let him go through his entrance exam to join DESPITE THAT THE AGENCY WAS MADE FOR RANPO AND AGAINST CRIME

Dazai trained Naomi. This was never elaborated on but it did happen

As Ranpo and Kunikida state while debating on whether to rescue Atsushi: the Agency doesnt interfere with someone’s personal issues or unless Fukuzawa tells them to ig

Stories are always more fucking interesting if there’s conflict between characters, ‘good’ or ‘evil’. The Agency are full of clashing characters, complicated backstories and nuances and they’re going to clash against each other. That’s human.

He’s proven time and time again that he won’t kill himself, that his plans are good and strong and for the Agency. He can handle himself and they trust in that
