under a cut bc this is long!

kris letang/marc-andre fleury - the tl;dr is that i need to read more fic about them!! tbh i am terribly compelled by "french canadians in pittsburgh up some shit" as a narrative but i have not fully explored their dynamic and do not know enough about them together to really commit a strong feeling to it. i do think often of that story about tanger chillin with vero and fleury and them all running out of the house to buy ice cream, which i think would be a lovely glimpse at a maf/tanger relationship (with all respect to vero, who is my queen and country) -- it's all about joy yo, and also a little bit being unhinged, and also a little bit about the deification of sidney crosby and evgeni malkin while you're also shouldering the franchise. (and then getting run out of town. flower you deserve so much better than the shit pens fans hurled at you in 2016 oh my god.) i think i'd be really interested in the story of them growing up sort of in sid and geno's shadow -- people talk a lot now abt sid AND geno AND tanger, but for a while i was only hearing about sid and geno and i think a little abt how that's gotta feel, kris' popularity coming in waves, and flower's ending horribly before getting taken by vegas. so i'm powerfully interested, i would just need to learn more!

sidney crosby/evgeni malkin/kris letang - if i could bold "aesthetically it's GREAT" i would. people talk shit about sid/geno but some of greatest smut i've ever read was sid/geno. adding tanger to that? ohhh buddy, let's fucking go. at EVERY iteration too, rookies, old men, it's all good. i would read any of it. i read a lot of sidgeno in my early rpf years but not much about tanger and i think that was a grave misstep. (but also i was only taking recs from my bff at the time, who only sid/geno so my hrpf intro was uhhh a little skewed lol.) but on a not sexual level, i think every day of that video someone cut of them in the locker room waiting for kappy's count. they have been doing this together for so goddamn long!! not just leading the team but playing together!! for so long!! and they've gotta know how special that is, right, to be able to stay together for so long. i love that angle and i would read so much of it (+ smut. the smut is important.) kind of why i hit up "this baby can fit so much projection in it" like YEAH wouldn't we all want to get paid to do what we love while growing up and growing old with our besties!!

i would also be deeply interested in found media fic abt them bc there is SO MUCH CONTENT IRL that you could probably pull it together pretty easily without needing too much embellishment or even having to make very much up. if someone has done this, hmu i'd love to read it

sidney crosby/evgeni malkin/marc-andre fleury - i have never read this before but i am now thinking about it! i think so much abt flower and sid's friendship and flower and geno's friendship and obvs sid and geno are a great romance of our day and age and gosh there is really just something to the idea of them in their youth doing things no one thought they'd ever be able to do, and doing it again, and again. also the impermanence of your twenties -- speaking for myself, my twenties were both interminably long and lightning quick. which is what it is, but on a sid/geno/flower angst level, is quite delicious to think about -- how sid/geno were always going to be together at the end and flower's time was up shorter than that. i always kind of like that heartbreak. i don't think i'm making myself clear but [slaps hood of my car] the narrative babey!!

Thank u for listening to me :’( It’s so nice to know that it gets better. I had a weird-ish interaction today with my partner when I said I wished I had a body like Jimin’s and I’m trying to not overthink it and just figure my shit out. I haven’t told my partner about my gender crisis (yet?) cause I’m worried about how he’ll react. Like, he has totally accepted me for being bisexual, but I don’t think he gets gender stuff as much? He always tries to be respectful and is always open to learning more but that disconnect is a little hard these days.

Again, thanks so much for listening. Did you read or do any research about gender stuff when you went through this? I’d really appreciate some things to read if you can offer them. <3

ofc, i’m always here to listen <3 i hope that when/if you feel comfortable enough to discuss it with your partner that his response is open-minded and understanding. gender stuff can be hard to understand at first esp for cis ppl but i’ve seen some people come a long way so i’m sending you luck and good vibes!! also i 100% get the jimin thing, i think part of the reason i like boygroups so much is bc i rlly appreciate the gnc vibes and androgyny that a lot of them have and jimin is def in that list, he’s so gender

as for reading, i generally just searched for things written by other trans people, sometimes in the form of tumblr posts on trans-positive blogs. for me personally, reading stone butch blues felt very impactful since i’m a nonbinary lesbian. im not sure if it would translate to you in exactly the same way bc so much of the gender stuff is tied in with butchness but i felt very Seen and generally that’s what i thought of when you said reading (it’s on the author’s website for free if you wanted to read it!) there’s lots of books on lgbt history and that helped me a lot too, i have one book that’s a collection of queer people’s writing on their presentation and body image, including lots of trans ppl dissecting their relationship with gender, it’s called “looking queer” <3 also just familiarizing myself with other people and cultures who acknowledge genders outside the binary helped me feel more secure, so you could def try to find some stuff on roles trans ppl have historically played in society. visual media also helped me, at the time i watched a lot of nonbinary ppl on youtube talk abt their experiences with gender, so you could try that too if you think it’d help!!

would u help me out for a second. im in the mood to write for the first time, and i think your style is beautiful. sitting down n actually trying though, im stuck as fuck! i’m realizing that in your dialogue/scenes you’ve got a lot of Little Things. little tiny elements that are subtle & just enough. how are you deciding that lily is building a house of cards at the moment or sirius is sitting in a tree or whatever during a given scene? how do you come up with those ideas for dialogue that are so silly & real & sneakily tender? do you know where it’s going when you begin? any advice for just… starting something?

ps: i appreciate you. you make it look easy & that’s very very cool

This is a lovely question!! Sorry it took me so long to get to it, I didn’t want to get it wrong. Also I’ve included some examples to try and explain what I mean in practise, but it also comes off rather like plugging. tragically this is unavoidable. Anyway, all that being said I have no idea how to advise you about dialogue and coming up with it, I think just listening to people talk helps. Don’t forget contractions, and when in doubt always trust the reader to keep up, real people don’t say perfect or even grammatically correct sentences a lot of the time. We also cut each other off all the time, especially when we’re trying to be funny. Like, here’s an example from warm front:

“He’s not even two. He probably would have thought it was, like, having a lie down or something.”

Harry was laughing now, “A lie down?”

“Yeah, a spontaneous, truck-induced–“

“–Permanent–“ “

–Permanent, lie-down. I’m almost jealous now actually.”

Another thing, but people say um and like or can't speak or cut themselves off, especially when they’re nervous. James when Lily says she loves him for the first time: ‘“Wow,” He breathed, “I’m– wow.” He put both hands on her cheeks and kissed her crazy, abruptly, dumbly. Her head spun.’ He can’t even speak! Dumb boy.

I think natural dialogue sometimes just requires you to read it aloud, which is very embarrassing but ultimately quite useful in trying to figure out whether something sounds normal or not. Use casual words, and try not to go dictionary hunting: if you cant think of the word chances are your character can’t either

In terms of concepts I have no idea, but I do have a few tips. I write all my short one-shots in one document (its called ‘just bad’ lmao) so its easy to start something, write a few lines, and then if it doesnt work just start a new concept, but still have all the old stuff handy. if you feel like you’ve written yourself into a corner its probably because you took a wrong turn earlier, so its just a matter of going back up and figuring out where you turned onto the dead end, or where a line could be funnier and/or sadder and/or more meaningful. Sometimes the bare bones of a decent line is there but you have to work it a little.

In this harry/ginny thing where harry is apologising for all the attention and ginny brushes him off she says:

“It’s nothing,” her voice, all force, “Anyway, it’s more funny than annoying.”

The response went through a few drafts, all variations on the same thing:

(1) “You’re funnier.” [too short, doesn’t make sense, and not really that funny. unholy trinity]

(2) “You make it funny.” Harry said, looking at her for real, “It’s not– you make it like that.” [this could work! I have no idea why I cut this, I think I forgot abt it lmao]

(3) “You’re the funniest person I know, Harry said, sincerely, and Ginny felt her heartbeat all through her, “You make it funny.” [jumping from ‘its more funny than annoying’ to getting this sincere out of nowhere is a little much, even for harry who is famously whipped]

I ended up going with this:

“It’s nothing,” her voice, all force, “Anyway, it’s more funny than annoying.”

“You’re funny.” Harry said, looking at her for real, flustered, “I mean– you make it funny. That’s all you.”

It follows the flow of the conversation and I think the way he says it, ‘you’re funny’ like its obvious, and then being like oh fuck and over-explaining it stumbling a little “I mean– you make it funny. That’s all you.”. You know when you like someone and you say something that gives you away before you can stop yourself? I wanted it to sound like that. Just gotta keep in mind how people behave, we are so stupid a lot of the time, we give ourselves away.

The thing about short stuff i find is implying a lot of history without actually describing a lot of it. I normally do this by having memories come up as almost shards, one second of feeling. You know when you’re in a conversation with someone and they mention someone or a past event, and it rises to the top of your brain, but only for a second? i find sometimes when you’re reading stuff people will try and replay entire memories or events mid-conversation, which is not something you do when you think. You don’t need to replay it beat by beat, you were there! This sounds vague as hell so I’ll try and show you what I mean:

From good crimes: “Petunia is engaged.” Lily’s voice, raw and wrong, “To Vernon. Eliza Hunt told me at the supermarket.” Sudden flashes of Petunia, the only time he’d ever met her, sat in the back of Lily’s twenty-first, pinched and whispering. “Whose Eliza Hunt?” This seems as good a thing to say as any.

pretty on the nose (the phrase ‘sudden flashes’ is pretty so i'll allow it from past me). But see how you don’t need to know how Petunia didnt talk to anyone, how she left early, how she was the odd one out: you don’t need to read all that, you already know because she was sat in the back and because pinched is such a mean verb, spiteful and sharp, you can already imagine how the evening went without me saying so

From my proposal take, after Sirius finds out they’re engaged: Sirius’ grip on his shoulder tightened for one second, still grinning, and James knew what he meant. “I know.” He said, because only Sirius had been there for all of it, when they were fifteen, drunk on Firewhiskey for the first time and James had said I think I’ve fucked it, I think I’ve fucked it but I like her for real.

you don’t need a description of the whole night, what party they were at, who they were with, what they were talking about: the important bit is that Sirius was the first person he told, and that they’re both remembering that at the same moment because they’re soulmates lmao. You know when something big happens for a friend and you feel so full of pride & love that you feel like you’ll burst into confetti?? this needed to feel like that, and you only need a flash for it

I feel like I’ve sort of strayed off from what you asked me, which is really advice on how to start something. I normally start with a line, usually of dialogue, and then try and build from there because dialogue is my thing. You might have a different thing! Some people write from concepts or locations, or an image. i might start with one or a few lines of dialogue, write them down, and then try to build from there. For example for the proposal thing I started from james just saying “Marry me”, which I find more romantic than ‘will you marry me’, purely because it sounds like he simply couldn’t stop himself from saying it, like it rushed out. Another example, this thing started from just “don’t be mad at me” “okay” James agreed instantly, because he is such a sucker for her.

When I write I don’t normally know where I’m going! I normally set out to write something I think is vaguely funny and evokes An Emotion, and then I just play around with stuff until I get there. when I write certain stuff and I have scenes in mind, stuff I want to happen, but I find that if I try to plot it to tightly its not exciting to work on, because sometimes you write a good line by accident, that you hadn’t thought of when you sat down, and you surprise yourself. That is a really nice feeling! i want to maximise that feeling.

'What I mostly try to remember is that writing something down, anything down, is useful. Sometimes you write for a whole night and dont get anything useable, but its like clearing pipes. Sometimes you have to flush through shit to get to the good bits. All the rough stuff, the things you don’t like or didn’t work, you wrote to get you to the stuff that did work. All of the bad shit got you here! It wasn’t a waste, you were working to find the good thing

If I had any tips its just the usual stuff, read! It is annoying how much that helps. Also, and I know this may make you shudder, but reading poetry is useful just because in no other literary or media form is language so important. In comics you have pictures, in novels you have plot and character, in film you all that and cinematography, but in poetry you live and die by how good the words are. If you want recs here’s my poem roundup tag, that I do sometimes, or if you want something just now read this by Anne Carson, which uses words like ‘smashing’, ‘boatwash’, and ‘green’ in the best way possible. Also it has these lines: “Recently having learned to recognize the type of tree called sycamore, / I see them in any forest— / the ones that look harrowed, / in shreds, but / go also / straight up into life,”

I mean, think of a sharper image than that?? It’s not possible. Just try remember to stay true to your characters and that in real life, the little stuff is the big stuff. Little things the people around you do normally show they care more than big speeches, and if you want to show love that’s how to make it feel lived in. You want to build a world! the little stuff is usually the world. Take some from your own or dream the ones you wish you had.

i dont rlly have an explanation on the ghost thing besides the fact he just can? ive occasionally pulled from family ghost stories and experiences bc i somehow got landed with family members who lived in a haunted house for a decade and enjoy scaring me with all the stories (including the time my cousin literally died on the kitchen floor from a bronchial spasm and one of the friends that was over asked my aunt later what was up with the old man she saw in the corner of the room that night - my cousin is fine btw shes just a huge bitch and a third grade teacher and i dont like her)

whether or not hes done drugs is based on absolutely nothing besides how im feeling in that moment. either hes the designated driver and sober friend forever or he got fired from his job after doing a line at work during graveyard with some random customers theres no inbetween (this absolutely happened @ waho. if dave works at waho hes a mess of a person and thats on the diner itself.)

ok look i hc dave w/schizophrenia besides when i was 14 i had a hyperfixation with learning about it and then at 16 was prescribed a medication and had side effects so wack my therapist genuinely thought 14 yr old me was onto something and its a weird way to cope with the idea that lady put in my head that i might “develop it in my twenties” which i turn 20 this year and i havent been able to stop obsessing and panicking over the prospect so PLEASE dont come in my inbox calling me ableist im not out here all harley quinn in suicide squad with the voices ok hes medicated, he goes to therapy, the hard fast delusion that lil cal was nearly sentient and informed bro of every single thing dave did no matter how asinine it was is no longer a debilitatingly affecting him ANYWAYS

i actually use the chicken/egg farming family pretty often just because its hilarious to me to give dave like. an actual mom and dad. hes literally an uncle to like three different kids he just never visits because they make fun of his skinny jeans and he hates one of his (incredibly bare-bones ocs all of them) brothers who threatened to bash his head in with a little league bat after dave broke his star wars lego set apart on accident (but not rlly) so their parents were like “why dont you stay with your brother in the big city for a lil while champ” and then they just never picked him back up? and thats on favoritism

i hate it so much but you know the whole vr loli trap voice shit that was popular a while ago? hes fucking baller at it for some reason. he did it as a joke while talking to bro and they both about shat their pants. if im feeling real ambitious, hes got a separate soundcloud solely dedicated to doing dumbass rap covers or making his own but in the voice under the pseudonym elizabeth “beth” davids that he will never admit is his. well, he will, but hes gonna be really fucking embarrassed about it. irony or not.

talking abt seperate soundclouds and stuff ive always had it where turntechGodhead was his like. essentially internet fucking persona facade shit he used because we all had that phase where we wanted memorable urls and stuff but also didnt want to totally ignore the nagging fear of people finding you in real life, until it turned into real life ppl finding you on the internet. so he also has basically an adjacent set of social media under the same name but its just a boring username i havent decided on so everyone he knows irl doesnt mix up with what hes made for himself as TG and the people he knows as TG dont know what highschool he goes to. (this occasionally comes with the territory of ppl on parp being pissed that daves “lying” or “hiding things” from his friends as if he was doing it out of spite instead of just keeping embarrassing tagged photos and videos from football games or when he ate shit at the skatepark from fucking with his “rap career”)

every once in a while i get on a kick where hes just german. like, i just replace houston texas with hamburg germany and have him apply to a university in whatever state is applicable for whoever im chatting with and it goes from there? sometimes he moved when he was little and went through the whole visa thing, sometimes he didnt go through the visa thing, sometimes hes a dual citizen because of family and shit, its all dependent on what suits the situation best.

one that ive been fucking with for a while but hardly break out (until recently with like 5 roses in the span of one day hell yeah) is that he has a neighbor at the end of the hall who is like a thousand year old witch lady that hes basically adopted as his mother figure in lieu of not having one and shes totally cool with it, especially bc when she kicks the bucket she fully plans on giving dave all her occult stuff so her figure-skating coach and realtor daughter doesnt sell it at a garage sale and lets it all go to waste. she also once brought rose up by name in a conversation without any prompting of her existence which dave didnt realize for days, and then one time cryptically stopped and stared at an empty space in the wall, went “she has potential, you know.” then looked at him sitting on her kitchen counter with a smile “lots of it” and hes thought about that weekly ever since. (it is important to note one of the occult items he leaves her is literally her own personal book of shadows shes been filling out for decades its like a 600 page leatherbound book dave has no idea what its used for but the sheer amount of homemade spells and etc in it is like. gonna murder rose the second this chick gets her hands on it i promise you.)

theres the standard strife shit? im not rlly gonna get into those theyre all basically cookie cutter bullshit. its just standard bro and dave abuse talk. i like to inclulde the whole 24hr live cam up in the apartment that definitely watches dave in every room besides his own and the bathroom, but that quickly delves into the prospect of middle-aged men stalking him online and basically sexually harassing him in his own god damn home by talking about how they can see him just trying to take his shoes off in the living room after getting home and frankly? its not one of my best takes! but once you throw it into the headcanon bin, its there forever.

he actually really does do something with his photography but not enough to warrant anything exciting, but he has his own branding for it and regularly takes pictures of his friends or anything else he thinks is moderately interesting enough to take pictures of, but those are just thrown into shoeboxes under his bed in favor of posting genuine shots because he wants to keep his image intact and blurry photos of jade smiling in the tree they climbed up together while bec paws at the base of it while whining isnt exactly something he wants the whole world to see.

i also pretty often but him into either paleontology OR i put him down as trying to become a mortician because he thinks handing roadkill once he graduated from museum giftshop specimens to doing his own taxidermy on the side has prepared him enough to perform an occasional autopsy and start embalming real human corpses. (sometimes i put my own desires in and make them his bc i have to project at some point and put him through the same EMT course i dropped out of bc it was one semester and he already has pretty decent first aid skills, but he definitely didnt expect it to be as fucking wild at times as it is, but whats he gonna do? get a job back at waffle house? the company hes working for just offered to pay like half his associates in paramedicine tuition and hes already got all his pre-recs done when he started for paleo. at least its a stable job and hes got the ability to be compassionate in the moment)

hes not a virgin he had a girlfriend all four years of high school (shes also one of his optional and designated exes plz keep up) and their relationship ends in one of two ways: she dies in a car accident a week before their high school graduation, or she stops talking to him entirely a week after their high school graduation until a couple years later she gets into (guess what) a car accident with her current wife/girlfriend and dies which leaves behind their daughter. who just so happens to also be daves daughter. her name is hannah and i love her like my own but no one ever likes her and thats on the conditioning of dirk. does dave end up taking her in? yes. shes awesome and the first time he takes her to the park to like run off some fucking steam she disappears for two minutes and dave is moderately terrified until she comes back holding a dead baby squirrel and thats the moment he realizes huh maybe things really do be genetic.

ok at the bottom of the list im gonna add the couple of times hes been a camboy which usually coincides with the live apartment cam thing and the amount of people in his dms calling him hot or whatever, but typically its more of a started the day he turned 18 and basically dipped around 20 in favor of showing up randomly with no warning to complain about a video game dick in hand because it gives him an outlet that wont annoy his friends bc this is the fifteenth time hes had a lot to say this week about a certain boss battle and also the comments fuel his ego and daddy issues.

the last one wasnt the bottom but literally unless its explicitly proven otherwise every time anyone rps with me there is the underlying fact dave strider was a goalie on his high school lacrosse teams all four years and (shocker another one) definitely had the hots for one of his teammates like major hots like first gay experience hots. like it was painfully obvious that teammate also liked him back hots. like one night at a team sleepover one of the other guys was like can yall just makeout and get it over with were fucking tired and dave really had the balls to be offended and ask what the fuck they were talking about while literally sitting halfway in the mans lap bc for some reason they had to share the same chair.

he is also guilty until proven innocent of being the worlds biggest loner outside of that sports team and even though hes literally a jock he still opts to eat his lunch alone in the hallway or something like that and has a tendency to leave girls on read, but bc hes got an in with the rest of the jocks hes basically drug around to plenty of parties and since hes conventionally attractive enough and popular in the aloof way that he is, hes got plenty of tagged insta posts and twitter directs and snapchat streaks going.

Thank you for your answer to my ask! I’m sorry if it did come out bi-phobic, I’ve also been questioning if this is internalized bi-phobia. I was wondering if you know how to deal with it. I really don’t have the opportunity to be in a more diverse circle where I live, so I really haven’t been able to meet someone who has already been through it

Hey dear anon, you're welcome ! And I really don't think you said anything worth apologizing for, I said that more in terms of what I guessed could be at work behind the question. And I believe it's important to be able to talk abt these things even tho we're not always perfectly woke abt it or a little confused or not using perfect vocabulary 💗

For me it's true that doing bi activism a bit helped a lot but if that's not an option there are plenty of things you can do to help yourself ! Of course making other bi/pan friends with whom you can joke about celebrity crushes of different genders and more serious topics can help a lot, both offline and online ! As long as you actually talk about it, I find bi/pan ppl can be soooo much more "modest" about these things than other lgbt ppl, often out of internalized shame or not wanting to "make a fuss".

Otherwise of course watching/reading media with cool healthy bi rep is really good for the soul. Figurinng out a few famous bi+ role models as well. And beyond that reading nonfiction about specifically bi/pan issues helped me a lot to realize that this was a legit sexuality and identity and not just "gay lite".

One ressource I like is the Bi Women's Quarterly, a free publication put together by the Boston Bisexual Women's Network who gathers essays and testimonies from women opening up about their bisexuality and its impact on their lives. For instance in 2019 they have had issues about "Firsts", "Bisexuality and Disability" and "Nonbinary" ; I love how grounded a lot of these are. In the same style the book "Getting Bi : Voices of Bisexuals around the World" is an anthology put together by Robin Ochs with longer testimonies and essays that helped me a lot when I was first coming out to myself. (Robin is also the editor of the quarterly and an all around cool lady worth following on twitter) ; speaking of twitter following some cool bi ppl on there can also be a good idea ! In the more leftist/activist corner you have a book like "Bi : Notes for a Bisexual Revolution" by Shiri Eisner, also a very interesting read. If you want to get nerdy about it here is a list of further ressources with academic ressources compiled by Eurobirecon. Also, the Still Bisexual initiative collects video stories from people who have IDd as bi for a long time to show it isn't a "phase" or only for younger ppl "experimenting." I also like browsing the bisexuality tag on Autostraddle, for a lot of interesting personal essays, rec lists, pop culture, etc. And I'm sure there are tons more cool resources out there.

In the end of course there is an important part that has to do with your own sense of self and giving it a positive place in your life and trying to connect it to positive experiences which you have to do for yourself. I'm the nerdy type haha so reading and researching was key for me but that might not work for everyone. Another thing is I write a lot, and mostly about queer characters, esp bi/pan ones, and I try to reflect about the myriad aspects of being bi through them. Engaging your creativity in that aspect can be wonderful. Like what positive emotions does it evoke in you, the ability to be attracted to different genders ? For me it always was tied to this sense of creativity, fluidity, possibility, fertility, multiplicity ; to a level of genderqueerness as well. Some people I know just talk about their ability to love people. You have to find your own happy space and metaphors.

yep lmao! she’s a straight person who frequently discusses the specifics of louis’ closet in a way that sounds so invasive and makes me and a lot of other lgbt+ ppl super uncomfortable. she also frequently implies that louis wearing tracksuits/smoking cigarettes/etc is pushing a “het” image (implying that he looked Gayer before which is very obviously a homophobic stereotype.) she gets mad abt people saying “harry tomlinson” and has the NERVE to call a bunch of lgbt+ people heteronormative for it when she’s straight and has absolutely no business saying that shit (her reasons for hating “harry tomlinson” are completely transparent and it has nothing to do w/ her caring about lgbt people i promise.) she also writes bdsm fics that create a very harmful image of what dom/sub dynamics look like (phoenix has discussed a lot of this at length here). she also recs wh*knows fics all the time including one where harry LITERALLY rapes louis. i’m not fucking kidding it’s completely untagged nonconsensual sex and she thinks it’s hot? i guess? ask me which fic if you want but it’s genuinely disturbing (as are many of that author’s fics but that’s a whole separate issue). she also ...like....implies that everyone who likes daddy louis (or ............discusses harry being effeminate? i guess?) is “buying into louis’ closet” which is the ugliest shit i’ve ever heard in my LIFE.

and lads was called out for this by phoenix and other people and she posted a weak, half-assed apology and at one point implied that we “only hate her because she likes bottom louis.” that alone to me is such an example of straight privilege--we are lgbt people telling her she’s being harmful and homophobic and she REALLY thinks it’s bc of something as petty as who bottoms. like. please.

she also implied that phoenix gets off on writing x factor fic (aka that she’s being predatory????). phoenix addresses why this is fucking disgusting here but basically accusing lgbt people of having pedophilic/inappropriate intentions out of anger when you have no concrete reason to say that is so incredibly homophobic and is a tactic that’s been historically used to oppress gay people and is part of the reason why gay people are still thought of as perverted and disgusting. and i’m sorry but we (as in everyone) consume straight media with underage characters having sex all the time--i can name SO many tv shows. but straight people think of gay sex as taboo and they want to keep The Gays away from our youth--i’m not saying this is her intention by any means but it’s indicative of a wider attitude as a whole and straight people need to be conscious of these things if they want to be considered allies.
