the audio distorts when people lie.
I imagine this knowledge will come in handy later.
[id: ALICE: This is not something you go poking around in. Not if you want to keep your job… or your neck. SAM: (a little amused) Okay, okay! I get it. Consider me scared straight. "Consider me scared straight" is highlighted. end id]
[id: LENA: Now, while I understand your concerns, you need to understand that Colin has held the IT Manager position for some time without incident, and although he is somewhat… frustrated with his current assignment, he can request help from the central IT team at any time. I am certain that should he find his responsibilities unmanageable, he will request assistance. Or resign, of course. Either way, the problem will resolve itself. "Or resign, of course" is highlighted. end id]
[id: CELIA: Is there any way to look up specific files? ALICE: Like what? CELIA: Oh, I don’t know. Every case about… being buried alive, or meat, or… whatever. ALICE: Well, there’s a search bar, but it doesn’t actually do anything. You’d have to dig through them all manually. (suspicious) – Why do you ask? CELIA: Just figuring it all out. Ah well, I guess I’ll need to find Bigfoot on my own time. "Just figuring it all out" is highlighted. end id]
[id: GERTRUDE: I see. Well, I’m sorry, but I don’t think Gerry can help you – GERRY: (casually) Yeah, I barely remember any of it. "I don’t think Gerry can help you" is highlighted. end id]
[id: GERRY: Oh yeah, but I was pretty young. I remember filling in a bunch of forms and questionnaires, then some old men asking me questions about what books I liked to read, who did I look up to, that kind of thing. And then I left. SAM: (disappointed) That’s all? GERRY: Yeah, afraid so. Other than just sitting around with a bunch of other kids in a room that smelled like old books. "Yeah, afraid so" is highlighted. end id]
[id: CELIA: I’m trying to look into… Weird physics stuff: time travel, other dimensions, teleportation, all that good stuff. Freddy doesn’t really do searches, so you could keep an eye out and let me know if any come up in your cases? SAM: Uh, sounds a bit sci-fi compared to our usuals. What’s this for? (amused breath) You’re not doing research for that podcast you were on, are you? CELIA: (surprised) You know about that? SAM: I might have given you a quick Google. CELIA: Then… yeah. I’m doing a favor for Georgie. "yeah. I’m doing a favor for Georgie" is highlighted. end id]

*sigh* This is your fault but. Colin x reader romance headcanons
You did this. How do you feel?
I feel pretty good about myself not gonna lie. Anyways, I'll gladly write this. I hope you enjoy!
Colin x reader (romantic headcanons)
This is an already established relationship.
He's a little bit more okay with you touching him. You could be a bit affectionate with him at times. But again only with his consent.
He doesn't get as mad as he gets if you touch him without his consent. He might yell at you or all of the sudden be across the other side of the room. But after that not much else.
He's not sure how he feels about having romantic feelings for you. To be honest he hasn't gotten the hang of it quite yet.
If he's flustered you can easily hear his fans humming. If you comment on this Colin might immediately get defensive. He also might immediately tell you that his fans hum when he is looking at a moron. (He's lying)
Horrible at flirting since he's so used to advertising oats. He'll literally never get better at flirting.
He doesn't need sleep. But he'll sleep anyway so he doesn't get bored at night. He sleeps on a desk near to your bed.
He gets annoyed when you have to eat. Since he doesn't have anything else to do when you eat. You keep suggesting for him to talk with you if he's bored. But his digital mind can't understand how you can eat and talk to him at the same time.
You don't go on dates with Colin that often. It might be once a month or two but that's all. Unless you suggest having a date in his digital world he keeps talking about. Which he perks up immediately to.
To be honest the dates in there feel way too weird. But he likes it since you two can do almost whatever you two want in there.
He causes a bit of problems for you since you sometimes get angry neighbours knocking on your door. It's not always too serious of course. But there has been times when Colin has given a few children PTSD about songs. Which isn't great news for you.
The cops might think of you as a threat sooner or enough but you're willing to test your luck.
He still likes singing to you. Though his songs not being malicious for now. He's not great at singing but he likes it.
He sucks at board games. Unless it's chess. He's great at chess (He's a computer of course he's good at chess.) You literally can never beat him.
He's a lot more calmer in the evening but at every other time he's not calm at all.
He gets to touch you, but you not so much. Sometimes he's right in your face and touches your nose. He's been doing that a lot lately because he finds it funny.
He might be on your table for a few seconds and immediately when you turn around he's gone outside annoying a few children. Whenever he does this you have to go outside and get him back into your house. You can't have him causing more PTSD.
Overall your relationship with Colin is both hectic but also calm and fun.

uh oh is that me comin back with the DHMIS tickle headcanons part 3????
YOU BET YOUR SWEET BIPPY I AM
this time it's the WEB SHOW TEACHERS!!!!
again, im using like, human designs of them, cuz i have no idea how to write tickle headcanons on literal objects 💀
🎨Sketchbook🎨
• Sketchbook is a ler leaning switch, and no I don't take criticism. (jk)
• She can easily use her paintbrushes, pens, or pencils to get her lees absolutely DYING.
• Tries to paint on her lee's feet, saying they're "such a wiggly canvas!"
• Uses lots of teasing to break down her tougher lees, whether it's verbal or physically giving slow and methodical tickles on their worst spot.
• As a lee, she loves to give the ler a chase.
• If she does get caught, she tries to tease the ler anyway, going "Ohhh, big bad wolfie caught me, huh? Whatcha gonna do? Bite me?"
• She talks a big game, but she will almost immediately fall into squeals and giggles as soon as those fingers touch her sides.
• Expect a LOT of wriggling around and flailing arms. Be careful when you try to tickle her.
⏲️Tony⏲️
• 50/50 switch
• Now, you know DAMN WELL, this tall long-legged mf can pin most people down quite easily.
• One of his favorite things is to slide two of his fingers clockwise on a lee's worst spot as he teaches them about time.
• "And so, the long minute hand always follows the short hour hand- Now, why are you laughing so much? I'm afraid we'll have to start over if you aren't listening!"
• As ruthless as he can be, he can be easily wrecked as well.
• Try running your fingers under his chin and on his neck. He will be DEAD.
• To really get him laughing and pleading though, GET HIS MFIN SIDES!!!!
• He's got a pretty low chuckling laugh, but he can start to shriek and even do his alarm noises when someone hits a sweet spot.
🦋Shrignold🦋
• Kinda like Tony, he's a 50/50 switch.
• You can NOT tell me he doesn't think tickling is a form of love language. (And I mean it already is lmao)
• He sometimes likes to tickle his other forest friends, but it's only when he feels he's in a good mood.
• "Aww! Look at how squirmy you are! You better not let anyone else find out about this~!"
• He likes nuzzling as a form of tickling. He even uses his fluffy wings when he can, giving the lee a fluffy surprise!
• Now, this man loves to be tickled, and even welcomes it when he's in a happy mood.
• If he gets his lee pretty good, and knows his lee likes to tickle back, he will open his arms up and sit up going, "Okay~! Me next!"
• Even though he likes being tickled, he squirms a lot and tries to protect himself with his wings and arms.
• Has a dorky higher-pitched laugh.
• He can't take a lot of tickling for too long, but as long as he can get some breaks, he would love to keep being the lee.
• Now, one last thing about him being a ler... If he is in a bad mood and you try to get him. He will show NO MERCY when he absolutely wrecks you.
🖥️Colin🖥️
• Mainly a lee, but only for the few people he lets touch him.
• Do not touch him if you are NOT one of he people he trusts. He won't wreck you, but he will straight up kill you probably.
• However, if you are one of the few people he trusts, he will be surprisingly calm.
• He still struggles a bit as he giggles and shrieks, but he doesn't straight up scream or tries to throw people off of him.
• Y'know for being a computer boy, I really like making him a ticklish lil thing.
• "Ah!! He-ehEHEY! Stehehehaha~!" (But imagine that with his little computer-y glitchy voice omg 🥺)
• Ticklish pretty much everywhere. Sides, feet, stomach, neck, ears, under the chin, underarms, wherever it is, he will give you some sort of reaction.
• HOWEVER- if you manage to get his pointer hand and just wiggle your fingers on there, he will crumble. He will be dead within minutes.
🥩Steak Guy🥩
• Mainly a ler.
• Are you kidding me, of course he would be a ler omg
• He doesn't mind tickling people as long as if they are comfortable with it.
• He always makes sure to ask and doesn't sneak up on his lees.
• Kinda like Tony and Sketch, he likes to "teach lessons" while he tickles his lees.
• "Now, this is roughly where your large intestine is! My, my, isn't that a giggly org-ahn~?"
• Focuses mainly on the abdomen of his lee; ribs, belly, sides, even the bellybutton. He does sometimes tickle other places, but he sticks with the stomach usually to go with his lessons.
• Loves, loves, LOVES to hear his lees laugh, no matter what it sounds like. But his soft spot is when they snort. When his lees snort, he just feels more inclined to tickle.
🌠Larry🌠
• Alcoholic lamp my beloved.
• From some fanart I've seen, he's chubby and I SUBSCRIBE TO THAT IDEA 1000000%
• A lee-leaning switch.
• He's typically a lee because he's too drunk/sleepy to really do anything.
• Squish. That. Tum.
• He has a quiet giggle/chortle, but he can get kind of loud when he starts to wake up.
• "Mnhmhmhm..! Quihihiiiit~..!"
• It's easy for him to give up on even trying to fight back, but the rare moments he does... Run.
• Since he's a bit bigger, he can also pin people pretty easy.
• His tickling method is slow and lazy, and he teases his lees by trying to sing them a lullaby or tell them that "It's time for sleepy-bye~... Shh, shh, shhhhh..."
• This method proves to work for most of his lees, as most of them end up getting tired from his sleepy lil tickles.
ok ok thank u guys for reading this cringe and i hope u like it, mwah mwah mwah 👉👈💗💗

Benophie fans will crucify me for this, but I want Benedict to wait until season 5. And for good reason.
I want Ben to meet The Girl in Silver in season 3. To fall in love immediately. To be frustrated with Colin for squandering the kind of love he'd give anything to be able to still hold onto. I want him to enlist Super Sleuth Eloise to help him find her. I want, in the final episode of S3, for them to connect the crest on the glove to the late Earl of Penwood. I want him to go to their house and leave dejected when he doesn't find her there.
I want him to not return to Aubrey Hall with his family but to go his own way. Anthony is happy with Kate, Colin and Pen are in newlywed bliss, and Benedict can't bring himself to stick around to watch it all this time. He looks for her everywhere he goes, but to no avail. I want him to cling to her through his art and fail. The smile isn't quite right. He can't hold onto the shape or color of her eyes. He's losing faith in his art. Perhaps he's truly rubbish at it and should give it all up. She isn't anywhere. He parties for the debauchery of it all. Drinks himself stupid.
When Eloise disappears, he's angry. With Eloise for her thoughtlessness, with his family for not paying attention to her, with himself for not being there. Was she kidnapped or did she leave of her own volition? Is she okay? Yet another woman in his life who he cares about and he's not sure what happened, she's just gone. He's angry with Philip Crane. When they find her, he's damn well ready to strangle this man. El may not have come to marry him, but she's still a gently bred young lady. He allowed her into his home knowing her relation to Colin and allowed her to become a governess to his children? Didn't send her home? Or send an express to her family? Acquire a proper damn chaperone for her? It becomes clear that they have to marry. There is no other option. And it is killing Ben to stand aside and let this happen. Watch her be forced, by her own actions yes, but still forced to marry. He can't bear to see his sister unhappy. He still hasn't ruled out killing the bastard.
He's back in town, and his demeanor is worse. Is that why he hasn't seen her? Was she forced to marry? Was she off somewhere trapped like his sister? Was she hurt or scared? Or was she happy? She looked so happy in his arms that night. Was she still happy wherever she was? Without him? Or worse. Had he seen her again and not noticed. Missed her. All he can do is miss her. A girl he knew for barely an hour. And she's just inside him. Forever. He drinks more. Goes to another party. Granville finds him drunk. Maybe Benedict kisses him, maybe he doesn't. It doesn't matter because it wouldn't mean much either way. Because Benedict remembers Granville telling him about love. About being in the same room as the person you can't live without and still feeling oceans apart. Benedict would take that kind of pain over this. To have the luxury of just being able to be in the same room. Maybe he'd never hold her again, but he'd have something. He'd be able to see her. He'd at least know where she was. He has nothing. Even his art is rubbish. He can't hold onto the most basic of details of her. He doesn't even know her goddamned name.
Granville tells him he does have something. He pulls the flask from Ben's hand and places a piece of charcoal in it. That feeling inside. The love. The longing. The pain. Those are things to hold onto. Put them on the canvas. It doesn't have to look perfect. Just draw what you feel. And in doing so, Granville sets Benedict firmly down in the Romantic period the early 19th century was known for. Up to that point Benedict has been drawing from models. A bouquet sent to his mother or sister, a bowl of fruit Anthony kept stealing from, or the nude bodies of the Academy. The Romantic period was about feeling. Forget models, they're a crutch. Use your creative mind, Benedict. And he throws himself into it. A silhouette. The silver of her gown flowing behind her. The way the world darkened around him as she ran away. He goes home to Aubrey Hall reluctantly, but he doesn't sleep. The moment before he saw her. When he'd only felt her. He doesn't sleep, his eyes are crazed. His hands are covered. In ink. In charcoal. In paint. And when Eloise comes into his studio, a broken look in her eyes, he is barely able to register his fury at her husband before he passes out.
He hadn't been taking care of himself. A fever. A bad one. Eloise is crying, begging him not to leave her like this. She needs him to be okay. But he hasn't been okay for a while. And he doesn't know if he'll be okay again. And before long Philip is there. He's there comforting El. He's there forcing some foul tea down Benedict's throat. And then he sleeps. He dreams. And he's in her arms again. And he's feeling peace. When he wakes, he sees El and Philip outside his window. Talking. Holding onto each other. Leaning on each other. He sees Philip looking at his sister like that and realizes that she's got far more power here, over this man, than anyone might guess. He's got tears in his eyes and is holding onto her like he'd simply break if he let go. When they return, they're hand-in-hand. Eloise yells as soon as she sees Benedict. Urges him back to bed. Philip offers to get more tea and Benedict, newfound respect for his brother-in-law, accepts.
Philip leaves them to talk. And they do. Like they always have. Benedict is lost. Heartbroken. But he's starting to find himself again. Perhaps he needs to find himself before he can find her. Eloise might be in love with her husband. And his children. And she's probably with child. But Philip is distant from the twins and she can't do it all by herself. The independent girl needs her husband. She's found something in this world she doesn't want to do all by herself. But, Benedict assures her, she won't. That guy looks like he'd jump off a cliff for her if she asked. She's always been good at telling people what to do. Lean on him. Give him something to do. If Philip needs anything in his life, it's direction. Eloise has to take the reins. She's not going alone, she just gets to be the one driving sometimes.
She makes him promise to take care of himself. If she can learn to lean on Philip, he can lean on his family. The Bridgerton name doesn't always have to be a burden. Says the girl who doesn't have to carry it anymore. He teases. She smiles. Can take the girl away from the Bridgertons, but can't take the Bridgerton away from the girl. She looks happier when she leaves. Resolved. That makes one of them.
When he recovers, he doesn't go back to town. He needs to stop looking for her. He's not giving up, but he's ready to start looking inward instead. Anthony reminds him of one of the Bridgerton properties in the country. The country air might be better for his health. His family is there when he needs them, but it's also okay to need space. So Benedict heads for My Cottage.
Let Ben be our main B plot for S3 & S4 and gear him up for S5. Let Benedict's story be the dangling carrot for renewal. Because by that point fans be rabid for the payoff. Does it need to go exactly like this? No. But it would be fucking DELICIOUS. Give art boy the era appropriate art movement, because have you ever MET someone who fit the term Romantic better than Benedict Bridgerton? I think not. Give me the emotional torture. The drama. The longing. Luke Thompson has the chops to pull it off. I can be patient.

hi! i'm so in love with your harry potter au!! i even reread some parts when i'm feeling a bit low. anyway, I was wondering if you might show us how does anthony realise about ben and sophie's feelings for each other? does he see sophie's or benedict's crush first? and does he encourage any of them? i imagine him making fun of Ben at first but then encouraging him a lot. thanks for this au, honestly!!!!
I'm glad you're enjoying this AU 🥰🥰🥰
In terms of Anthony and Benophie, just like his brothers Anthony is also rather oblivious not just about his feelings for Kate but for the obvious crush Sophie has on Benedict. He actually used to tease Colin, assuming their close friendship was because his younger brother fancied Sophie, much to Colin's chagrin.
"I'm allowed to have a friend who's a girl!" Colin rallied back. "Just because you can't make small talk with a girl without sticking your tongue down her throat doesn't mean the rest of us can't control ourselves!"
"Anthony Bridgerton!" Violet raised her voice after entering the kitchen at the exact moment her eldest had pulled out his wand to retaliate.
He would tease Colin for some time before Benedict asked Anthony to stop going on about it.
"For the love of Merlin. Whatever happened to brotherly ribbing?"
"Look, tease Colin all you want about anything else. I just don't want Sophie to overhear and feel self-conscious or embarrassed." Benedict explained and Anthony quickly stopped teasing their brother about that particular subject, not wanting to upset someone as harmless and as sweet as Sophie.
Much like Colin would eventually come to realise, Anthony had noticed how close Benedict and Sophie were but never once thought the younger girl had a crush on his brother; it just simply never entered his mind. He did raise an eyebrow when he heard that Benedict had asked Sophie to the Yule ball but after hearing about his recent break-up with Tessa, he simply figured that the pair were only going as friends and nothing more and he honestly didn't put any more thought into it than that.
Upon Benedict's return for the holidays, Anthony picked up on how low his mood was and when he tried to comfort his brother and ask if he was feeling down about the break up with Tessa, Benedict grunts simply as a means to stop Anthony from enquiring any further into his melancholy. It was Anthony who circulated the assumption that Benedict was down and out because of Tessa and nobody even remotely questioned it. Anthony was then the one who got Benedict out of his funk after his graduation from Hogwarts by taking him for nights out and egging him on to hook up with Gen, telling him it was a sure-fire way to get over Tessa.
A few years later after Michael's birthday in Greece, Anthony noticed how dejected Benedict had become once again and thought this time it was because Gen had ended things with him.
"I know it's not nice to be rejected Ben, but you always said it was only a casual arrangement with her. Did you end up catching feelings?"
"No." Benedict replied into his pint of Butterbeer.
"I thought Michael's party would have been the perfect opportunity to get over her by getting under someone." Anthony noted. "I thought you had, seeing as I didn't see you most of the night."
"I didn't." Benedict said flatly.
"Well what went wrong with Gen? Did she get bored?"
Benedict had stared into his diminishing pint and let out a heavy sigh.
"I called out the wrong name in bed." he admitted.
Anthony guffawed and slapped his maudlin brother on the back.
"Oh Ben, that's fucking hilarious." he chortled. "What did you call her instead?"
Benedict was silent for a minute and eventually Anthony's laughter died down as he registered how pensive his brother was, wondering why he was so hesitant to answer him.
"Sophie."
For a moment Anthony didn't quite register what his brother had sighed and even when he processed the name, his first thought was which Sophie? Because surely Benedict wasn't talking about Sophie. Surely he was referring to a different girl with the same name. But Anthony and Ben kept the same social circles and there was no other Sophie in question - the Sophie he had called out could only be their Sophie. Colin's Sophie. Sophie Beckett.
"Sophie?" Anthony echoed with a frown, wondering if he had somehow completely misheard his brother.
But Benedict gave a sad nod in confirmation as he continued to avoid Anthony's questioning gaze.
"But... but why?" Anthony's brow furrowed, his brain incapable of coming up with the obvious for Benedict's bedroom faux pas.
"I'm in love with her, Ant."
Anthony then listened in stunned silence as his brother poured his heart out and explained everything that had happened. From the kiss at the Yule ball and Sophie keeping her distance, allowing everyone to think he was mourning his relationship with Tessa when really he had been left shattered by Sophie, how she was always on his mind and in his heart and in his dreams, and how they had nearly hooked up at Michael's party but it all fell apart. He had stopped the fumble on the beach because he wanted to treat her better than that because she meant far more to him than that, but she was drunk and upset and had screamed about how he always hurt her and how she hated him, and then Phillip had berated him for breaking Sophie's heart again - because she had been in love with him since she was eleven years old. And now Benedict was in despair with no idea how to ever recover or if Sophie could ever want to love him again.
Anthony had no idea what to say - this situation was too far out of comfort zone to even know how to comfort his brother. To look back over what was nearly a decade and acknowledge that Sophie had fancied Ben all this time and that Benedict's low mood since seventh year had been down to loving Sophie was mind-blowing to Anthony. But upon reflection, the clues were all there, waiting to be examined and pieced together; but Anthony had never bothered to think.
He managed to find the words to console Benedict, knowing he needed a brother and a shoulder to cry on than another person telling him off. In the intervening years before his brother finally got with Sophie, Anthony had tried to encourage him to join him and Kate on their visits to the Awesome Foursome on their interrailing adventures, but Benedict always declined, unable to suffer the pain of seeing Sophie in the flesh again, not when he loved her so much and she hated him. Anthony would try in vain to convince Benedict that honesty was the best policy, that if he took the time to seek Sophie out and explain everything then at least he'd know one way or another if the feelings were still reciprocated. Unfortunately Benedict wouldn't take his advice and it didn't help that Kate had casually mentioned to his brother that Sophie was having fun dating people abroad. She had moved on, had had enough of his shit, and knew her self-worth, and it killed Anthony to see Benedict so defeated. He knew there would be no luck as Benedict tried to date to get over her and Anthony was always there when Benedict visited his for a debrief, always telling him that the biggest issue with that evening's date was simply that they weren't Sophie.
By the time Simon and Daphne's wedding rolls around (and after the secret quickie wedding he had with Kate), Anthony just wants everyone to be as happy as he is and urges Benedict to act on his feelings for Sophie. He's pleasantly surprised when his brother informed him that he did intend to tell Sophie how he felt, and the morning after the wedding when he sees Benedict looking like the cat that got the cream and sneaking heart-eyed gazes with Sophie, Anthony is just relieved that the pair of them have finally found happiness and in one another.

Yippie 😐
Short fic of Colin Robinson coming out as a demiboy to Laszlo and Nadja. Also a happy surprise at the end 👀
CW: Nandor describes a time he was called the F word in a derogatory way
     "What is this about?" Nadja asked flatly.
"Colin Robinson told me that he had something to important to tell us." Laszlo responded.
               "This better be important. If you roll us the Rick again I'm going to roll you off of a roof."
        Colin sat at on couch in between Laszlo and Nadja with his laptop out to get the resources he would need to explain this all to them. "I'll try to keep it brief. I mean it."
       "Shouldn't Nandor be here as well?" Nadja asked.
           "I already told him about this. I had to make it more simple for him to understand. He got the message though."
  Colin Robinson pulled up the little info graphic about nonbinary genders.
      "Nonbinary?" Nadja read curiously, she adjusted her small glasses and leaned into his screen.
"Yeah, um, you heard of genderqueer?"
           "Yeah," Laszlo nodded with a smile,"Those androgynous looking vampires."
      "Well not just vampires, humans and parahumans alike. It's not just looking androgynous its who they are internally. It's an internal experience."
              "Oh?" Nadja piped up.
   "So uh what does this have to do with nonbinary?" Laszlo asked.
       "Nonbinary folks are those that don't identify as or limit themselves to being a woman or man."
                "Oh like Nandor." Nadja smiled.
"Yea- what?" Colin looked at her confused.
               "He doesn't understand western concepts of gender. He rejects it completely."
      "I mean he's still a man right?"
"Not by western standards but yes."
      "Oh um, not exactly. Uh, I don't know." Colin shook its head. "Okay. Um. The Baron. He's sexless but not genderless yeah?"
      They both nodded at it.
"He's a man but it's not because of his sex it's because it's his identity."
            "He's androgynous," Laszlo commented.
         "Yeah but he's still a man. He's not nonbinary. Or at least not to my knowledge."
            "Yeah he's an androgynous fellow."
"Yeah. How he presents doesn't determine his gender."
               "Colin get to the bloody point!" Nadja complained.
      "I'm nonbinary." He squeaked out.
They both blinked at him.
           "But you don't look androgynous." Nadja said innocently.
"Well I don't want to look androgynous, I'm comfortable presenting like a man. I quite like it."
              "Oh." Nadja blinked.
"I'm a demiboy, specifically."
           "How does that work??" She asked.
"I don't feel completely like a man?? I'm kinda like a guy but I'm not completely sure I'm a guy. I'm just kind of a guy and kind of just this weird creature. I can't relate with the experiences most men feel in their masculinity. I feel- I feel a little feminine sometimes."
                   "You feel girly?" Laszlo asked.
"A little."
             "Do you want to wear a little makeup?" Nadja asked. Colin smiled coyly.
"Maybe." He smiled.
     "Finally I get to give you a makeover!!" She hugged it. He tensed a little, "I said makeup not makeover calm your tits!"
          "So your not a man?"
"I'm a man but its uh- I'm vaguely a man."
            "Oh." Laszlo nodded, "so should I stop calling you he??"
    "No he is fine but uh, I would like if you could also call me by it."
               "It?? Like some kind of bug?" Nadja asked.
      "Uh, yeah. Exactly." Colin nodded.
                     "What about she?"
      "Uh, no." He shook its head.
"Okay." She nodded.
      Nandor walked past them, "Oh, did it tel you?"
              "Yeah, it told us." Nadja nodded. "What did it tell you?" Laszlo asked.
             "To call it by it, its, itself as well as he/him/him. The english language is so cluttered. The farsi language doesn't have these different pronouns. There's only one pronoun. It's much easier."
          "Then why did you forget the language?" Colin asked. Nandor shrugged at it.
        "I was forced into the English language against my will when I came to America. No choice. Sad really."
         "Nandor are you a man?' Colin asked.
        "Yes but some fucking guy at a gas station would disagree."
      "Oh?"
  "Yes. He tugged my hair and called me a fag. So I ate him. I don't know what a fag is but it sounds like frog so I don't like it."
      "How dare he touch your hair." Laszlo nodded.
            "No one touches my hair without my permission and lives." He milled out of the lives room.
       "So, Colin, do you want me to refer to you as something rather than just boyfriend?"
              "Oh. Um I don't know what did you have in mind?"
     "Babygirl?'
   Colin giggled, "Yeah sure."
   Laszlo slipped off the couch and got on his knees. Colin set its laptop on the table to look at him. "What are you-"
    "Might I call you my wife?" Laszlo took its hands and glanced up at his face. Colin looked at his boyfriend surprised.
           "Like, like a guy wife?"
"Yeah. My guy wife." He smoothed his hands. "I don't want to be married to you officially. Hell I won't dare bound Nadja to me legally. That's horrific. You saw what happened to Marwa. It blinked, "Who?"
     "I- nevermind that. I just- I want to call you my wife. I want to be your husband." He caressed his hands. It glanced over at Nadja who had the biggest smile. "It's okay. I'm completely accepting of this."
          "Yeah, you can call me your wife." Colin noded started to cry. Laszlo laughed out happily and hugged its waist and pulled him close. It moved to the edge of the couch and wrapped his arms around his neck. Nadja was clapping at them and trying not to cry. Colin looked down at Laszlo, who looked up at it. It tipped its head and went in for a kiss. Laszlo kissed his wife back tenderly.
        "Nandor!!" Nadja screeched.
"What!!??" Nandor popped in annoyed.
          "Colin is Laszlo's guy wife."
"I thought you didn't believe in marriage."
           "I'm not I just want to call it my wife and say that we're married. None of that bullshit legal shit."
       "Fucking guy." Nandor mumbled and left the room.
    Colin pulled out and kissed his cheek.
"I wish Guillermo was here." Colin's voice shook. Laszlo touched his cheek.
     "He will come back. He always turns up my love."
            " I don't think he will." It frowned.
"He will. He has to. We're family." He kissed its forehead. Colin helped Laszlo back to his feet. Laszlo walked up to Nadja and gave her a big kiss too. She kissed back energetically. He pulled out and looked at Colin and Nadja.
        "My beautiful wives," He smiled proudly at them. That made Nadja finally relent and start to cry, she hugged Colin and Laszlo sat down and hugged it too. It was the happiest it had ever been. A moment like that would be better with Guillermo there.

I am with you all the way with weekly episodes. It would keep the conversation going and it gives you something to look forward to. When the GBBO was on weekly last year, it was definitely a lovely treat to start my weekend. The binge model is bad overall but pleasing in the moment.
That being said, knowing we're getting 4 at once has made me a bit feral and they can't take it away from me now.😄
I did not know about the big family thing in episode 5! Now I can see where people are saying engagement in ep 5. That makes sense if they're following the book at all in a loose timeline. Oh no, your theories seem very flexible and not based in 2 years of constant headcanon like I've seen other people double down on. I think fanon is great and we should all partake but I've seen so many people get their hearts and dreams set on something that has more place in fic than in the content itself.
I think it's important that he finds out about LW before an engagement but I don't necessarily agree with the popular idea of her turning him down first. It's possible, sure, I can see it but I don't think it's needed the way some people talk about it, sometimes it's almost like a punishment to him and I don't think he needs to be punished by Penelope. Seems like he will spend the majority of part 1 punishing himself.
I am dying to know what LOWK says to her to make her make that face tbh. I think he's going to do wonderful things for her confidence and self-esteem and it will move her but it still won't be right and she's going to know that. When Pen, in the books, thinks about how she would have married someone nice and kind to her if they had offered because she knew Colin wasn't for her, it was so heartbreaking. But to see the real life dilemma of that coming to life onscreen--for her because he does seem nice and kind and for Colin because he works himself up with jealousy and fear at the thought of that happening, I think it could be a very satisfying story to tell.
If he catches her running off to do some sort of LW business over the Queen, it will be wild for sure. A lot could happen in that carriage I agree! They could fight/confess/get spicy and then leave us hanging. They're going to leave us hanging either way, we know, but it's in the way they do that tells us how we'll die for a month, ha.
I am ambivalent on the heir plot and I'm sure I'll side eye a large portion of it but still, if Portia does anything well, it's rising up out of a situation that would destroy most others. Ohhh the LW of it all, I don't know if they'll stop her, LW is pretty important to Benedict's story isn't she? My first thought is she will either keep going with help (where did I see someone say something about them possibly buying their own printing press? I don't think I just made that up but also I can't remember the source, ha) or they'll hand it off to someone else. Both seem just as likely as the other to me right now.
The way NC describes it makes me think I'm going to suffer some sort of way and have to take a lap around my house before continuing some scenes, hahah. If it's as romantic as they say it is, it's going to take a minute to get through it. Reminds me of the time I read a first kiss written so well I left the room before coming back to finish reading the chapter.😩
I really have no doubts it's going to be the best season so far.
I have to agree, while I prefer getting a weekly dose of lovely, if they took away my four episodes, I would quite literally hunt them down at this point I am owed my episodes and I will take them all immediately upon their availability. I’ve already blocked my calendar at work as I will be busy watching as soon as I wake up! No time to dilly dally with meetings!
But apparently it was Netflix that chose to at least break it up into 2 parts. So sounds like they realized that maybe dumping the whole thing at once isn’t a good model either.
"We didn't initially plan for there to be a break in the middle. Netflix approached us about splitting the season in two. It's something I think they're trying out across their platform, and it worked out perfectly, actually,"
Jess Brownell was the one who mentioned the season 5 snippet.
Tumblr media
I could see there still being ups and downs honestly. Because yes there could be an engagement in 5. We could have LW confession in 4, he proposes just like the books, and she accepts. So, then we have engagement, but Pen still thinks its only because he “ruined” her in the carriage and not out of love. Hence LN always mentioning that it takes them a long time to get on the same page this season. Because then they are together but not together still in 5. He’s only seen the first 6 episodes also and I know that the breaking of furniture must happen post 6 because he isn’t sure if that little mishap made it into the final cut or not so it must be in 7 or 8 which must be post “I love you” relations.
I do want him to find out about LW before engagement. I don’t want that to be a secret looming over their heads. I want it to all be out in the open when he proposes because he accepts it. He doesn’t have to like it, but he is accepting her. But I 100000000% agree with you, He will be spending 4 full episodes punishing himself to the core already, he does not need to be punished by him refusing him. I disagree with that. I think he is doing more than enough to make up for his careless words to her last season, he has proven that he truly cares for her, there is no need to punish him. She already has shown apparently, she regrets her hasty words in LW lashing out about him, however I still feel like she is not being honest about her feelings about him either.
I read that NC said something I really liked too about how she felt about him saying that last season too and how her immature love for him wasn’t really love either because she hasn’t show him her true self.
Tumblr media
Getting giddy just speculating on all of this! I’m assuming 7 & 8 are dealing with the whole LW of it all and possibly blackmail with Cressida or someone else. Still curious if Eloise rubs off on her at all to allow her to play nice or if she will just truly be a nasty bitch and go after Pen. Not sure if redemption is in the cards or not there. But yes we are going to be left hanging and begging for more. Unfortunately, it will be for more than a week but we will have plenty of time to sit and speculate like this again and I guess I will look forward to that.
I have a friend who loves Benedict and is really looking forward to his plot and loved his book, I think I will need to read it to see how much LW plays into it to understand how that would work now that his story is so out of order. I honestly know nothing at all about the rest of the stories. I only recently realized who Sir Philip was and how that played into the whole Colin/Marina story LOL I really was new to all of this. Hahaha!
I guess it would matter for the heir if it kept them in the story for season 4. Then I might care. Otherwise, I am meh about it. Unless it makes mama more kind or her sisters less ick. But it would be nice to see them have their own printing press and working together. I could buy into that.
NC does seem to make us want to suffer, she mentioned a camera man crying…and I said well I have no chance then. I do think I may need to take a pause and my husband will roll his eyes and ask why I am taking so many bathroom breaks during the show.

WIP Wednesday
Better late than never edition lol
So this past week (or maybe the week before, I can't recall) I drabbled a bit of something that popped into my head for Caleb Shepard and Ashley from Mass Effect 1. Not quite sure where this falls exactly, probably not too long after Eden Prime I'm guessing, but it'll be in there somewhere...
~~~
“Skipper.”
Shepard lifts his gaze from the datapad in his hand to find Williams standing next to the table. “Chief.” He really isn’t in the mood for company just now after that mission, but it isn’t in him to deny her the opportunity if she feels a need to talk.
She drops into the seat settling her mug of coffee between her hands. “So… uh… You’re that Shepard?”
One dark brow quirks upward at the emphasis on ‘that.’ “You mean there’s more than one of us?”
It’s a poor attempt at humor and deflection, but she can’t hide the twitch of her lips and she quickly averts her eyes while struggling to swallow a laugh. The tension surrounding them lightens just a bit.
“The one at Akuze…?”
Dread fills him, sinking low in his belly where it churns with the thread of anxiety that never quite left since that day six years before. With every ounce of his being, Shepard fights to maintain a neutral expression. It doesn’t take a genius to see where this conversation is headed. He could cut it off if he wanted – tell her he doesn’t have time for it or that the report he’s working on needs to be completed – but he’s always had an open-door policy with all of his people, and he can’t in good conscience shut it down now, just because of this.
But that doesn’t mean he’s going to volunteer anything up front. Swallowing tightly, he leans back in his seat hoping the shadows mask his face and folds his arms across his chest. “Aye, I was.”
She sits unnaturally still, brown eyes glazed slightly when she looks over at him. It’s clear something is troubling her. He can make a good guess as to what based on her questions so far. Still, he hasn’t gotten this far in his career without learning some patience.
Her lips twist, opening slightly as she drops her gaze to her coffee where her fingers toy with the cup, but no sound comes out. Several minutes pass; she tries again, but nothing.
Sighing, Shepard leans forward. “Williams…”
“I’m – I’m sorry, sir.” The words come out in a rush, tumbling over one another, as she pushes to her feet and grabs her mug. Coffee splashes over the top of the rim onto the back of her hand and she hisses.
“Williams.” This time there is a bit more bite as he says her name, a hint of the commander, not the man. She freezes, half turned away. “Sit down, Chief.” To her credit, there is no hesitation; she drops back onto the chair. Only then does he ease up a little. “Still struggling with what happened to your unit on Eden Prime?”
Refusing to look at him, her head bobs up and down twice. “How… how do you deal with that? With…” She inhales sharply, her head darting back up to him. “With the guilt? With the ghosts?”
Sergeant Angela Nevarra’s face flashes before him, her easy smile matched by a pair of sharp, vibrant, dark eyes. Corporal Kaida Aoki, one of the fiercest – in both fighting and loyalty – people he’s ever known. Private ‘Jim-not-James, sir!’ Weston whose hot temper matched the vibrant red of his hair and reminded Shepard of back home.
Home…
That triggers an altogether different slippery slope, and next he knows, Aoife sneaks in hot on their heels. Never far from his thoughts, she isn’t alone this time, either. Ciara, his first crush; Sean and Brennan, fellow madrai and defenders of Shannon; Colin, Ceannaisi of the Reds…
Shepard’s eyes slam shut and he shakes his head once to chase them away. Now is not the time…
2.5: The Aftermath
Tumblr media
Henley's P.O.V
I lay curled up in Sasha's spare bedroom. I haven't left in what feels like months. Turns out I've only been here for a week. I can't feel a thing. I'm uncomfortably numb. I can't even cry anymore. It seems that my body can't spare anymore tears. Now I just stare off into space, feeling emptier than ever.
After I ran from the guys' apartment, I ended up at Sasha's. I knew that she lived in the apartment above the bar, so I grabbed the spare key and made my way up to the small apartment. Luckily she had a spare room. I didn't even have to ask if I could stay with her. She immediately asked if I wanted to stay. I felt terrible for asking her something like that, but she didn't seem to mind.
I have no idea what to do now. I'm all alone. I tried calling my parents the night I arrived. They just told me I was now disowned. I'm not apart of my family anymore. I'm abandoned. Eventually I'll call Tommy and ask if I can stay with him, but for now I'll stay here. I hate to bother him.
I just can't believe that that jackass would cheat on me like that. Does he really have his head shoved so far up his own ass that he thought I wouldn't be upset if I knew? I fucking hate him. I never want to see him again. I can't believe I ever loved him! I loved him so much I was willing to follow them to Los Angeles when they went. I'm sure Steven is upset with him.
Steven.
God, I miss him so much. He was my best friend. He was my brother! Now I'm probably never going to see him again. I don't remember the apartment's number, and I don't plan on leaving this room for a long time. I miss Steven and Bella so fucking much. Why'd everything have to go down like it did? Why'd I have to fall for Duff? Why was I so stupid?
"Henley?" Sasha's soft voice says. I feel the bed dip down beside me. "Honey, he doesn't deserve your tears."
I sit up, pulling my legs to my chest. I rest my chin on my knees. I sigh. "I'm not upset just about Duff. It's that my parents disowned me, meaning I'll never get to see Nico again. And I probably won't ever see Steven again. He was my best friend! I'm not even sure if I'll see Madeline again. I'm sure she'll be with Steven, who's bound to be around Duff." I feel the tears prick at my eyes. "I gave everything to him."
"Henley, I'm so sorry. I didn't realize what all you did for him," Sasha says, a pitying look in her grey eyes.
"I was such an idiot. None of this would've happened if my family stayed in LA. I'd still be hanging out with Athena all the time. We'd probably go visit the Crüe and bother the shit out of them. I'd be happy."
"Think of it this way," Sasha starts. "What we go through shapes us as people. It shapes how we act and our outlook on the world. Judging on what you've gone through, I've no doubt you're gonna protect yourself and not trust as easily. That's a good thing though. Just don't completely shut yourself out from the world, alright? I don't want to see you self destruct."
I smile at her words. She's like my mom, even though she's twenty-seven. I have someone I can trust in this world other than Tommy and the Bass' after all. I get on my knees and hug her tightly.
"Thank you," I whisper, feeling her arms wrap around me as well.
"Anytime, hun."
We stay silent in each other's embrace for a while longer. Without warning, she stands up, causing me to fall onto the bed.
"We need to get you out of this stuffy room," She says, standing with her hands on her hips. "Get dressed and come down to the bar. You can hang out for a little bit. I'm sure Colin and Sebastian miss your company." I groan. "Don't try to fight me on this one Henley Baxter."
I stand up, reluctantly leaving the warmth of the bed. I stretch, walking over to my closet. There's gotta be something in here. I grin as I find one of Steven's shirts that I accidentally took when I went and got my stuff. Luckily, none of them were there when I got everything. Bella was there, though. She was happy to see me.
Anyways, I slip on the oversized shirt. I grab a pair of ripped skinny jeans and my doc martins. I put everything on, and go to the bathroom. I look over my appearance. I look pretty good. Well, my body does.
I brush my teeth quickly. Ugh, I hate the taste of toothpaste. I grab my brush and run it through the tangles of my auburn hair. I look at the finished product, trying to decide if I need to straighten it or not. I decide not to since it looks fine with my natural waves.
I walk down the stairs towards the pulsing music. I open the door at the end of the stairs and end up in the madness of the dancing bodies. My eyes widen, instantly feeling uncomfortable. Normally, this would be my scene, but not tonight. Probably not for a long time.
I make my way towards the bar. I smile as I see Sasha pretty much screaming at Colin and Sebastian for messing around while they're supposed to be working. As soon as she's done scolding them, however, I see the smile that creeps onto in her lips.
I sit down on one of the stools in front of Colin. I grin. "Where can I girl get a drink around here?"
Colin turns, and his eyes widen. "Henley!"
"Hey!" I giggle as I can see how badly he wants to jump the bar to hug me. But, he knows that Sasha would chew his ass out for it.
"Sasha told us you've been holed up in her guest room for the past week. Is everything okay, darl'?" He asks.
"Let's not talk about it, alright?" I say, feeling the sadness creep back up. I shake my head and look back up at him. I grin. "Can you get me some vodka?"
"Yes, ma'am," he grins, turning around to get me my drink.
I have the urge to look over at Madeline and I's usual table, but something is telling me not to. I don't know what's making me want to look over. I give in to the curiosity.
I turn my head to see Duff, Steven, Hyde, Madeline, and two other people I don't know sitting at the table. There's a girl and a guy. The guy had rather tan skin and chocolate brown hair. The girl is a bit pale and blonde as can be. That must be the girl that he cheated on me with.
My eyes wander to Duff. His eyes are locked on me. I can see the guilt in his eyes from here. That motherfucker.
I turn my head back as I hear the clink of the glass being set on the bar. "Thanks."
"It's actually a suicide. You look like you need it," Colin says, grinning.
I smile. "Thanks, Colin."
I take a gulp of the strong drink, hesitantly standing up. I walk over to the table that used to bring me joy. This was the table that I met the guys at. This is where it all started.
I stand in front of everyone. "Hey guys," I say with a venomous smile.
"HENLEY!" Steven screams. He basically jumps over the table to engulf me in a bear hug. "I've missed you so much!"
I giggle, hugging him back. "I missed you too, Stevie."
"Where have you been?" He asks, worry filling his bright blue eyes.
"I've been here."
"You poor thing! You've been sleeping on the bar. You don't even have a bed anymore! Come back, I swear-."
"Steven, Sasha has an apartment above the bar. I've been sleeping in the guest room," I giggle.
"Oh," He says. Even in the dim lighting I can see his cheeks turn pink.
I smile at him as he goes to sit back down. I turn to the two unknown people. "I don't believe I've met you two."
The guy speaks up first. "I'm Cal."
"Nice to meet you," I say, even though my focus is purely on the bitch in front of me. "And you are?"
"Mandy, Duffy's girlfriend," She says, cuddling into him.
I feel the jealousy and hatred flare up in me. Jealousy that Duff's not mine anymore, and hatred that Duff found a slut to cheat on me with. It's obvious she's a slut by the low cut dress she's wearing. And the fact that I can see her underwear.
"You're Henley aren't you?" She continues. "Too bad he wants me more. I don't get why he was with you in the first place. You don't have anything to offer him."
"Hey-!" Stevie tries to interject.
"I'm prettier, more experience. I totally get why he'd want me more."
I feel the tears prick my eyes. "Fuck you," I say to Duff and Mandy.
I throw my drink on Duff, then turn on my heel. I run to the door to go upstairs. I run up the stairs and to the phone. I dial the only number I know by heart, and the only person that can save me.
I wait impatiently for the phone to quit dialing. I need it to quit dialing.
"Hello?" The voice says.
"Tommy?" I cry.
THE END
-----------------
A/N: I honestly don't know what to say. I've been working on this book for months, and I can't believe it's over. There will be a sequel called Lips Of An Angel. I don't know when it will be finished. Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed. Goodbye.
Evanna's roommates quickly grew used to her posh attitudes, while Evanna quickly took to their up-to-date fashions. She quickly figured out the spells to transform one's outfits into something like that week's Witch's Weekly and if she couldn't figure it out, then she used her allowance to place owl orders. Soon, her wardrobe was close to overflowing, but there was luckily two extra in the room that was meant to house a greater number of students.
She, luckily, did not hear any more murderous voices, though she unfortunately had not received a letter back from her mother yet. Her father, however, had sent a missive. Seeing her father's austere handwriting instead of her mother's elegant scrawl, Evanna had quickly dismissed herself from the breakfast table.
"Pardon me," she said to Elin. "I've a letter-I'm going to go read this before Potions begins-"
"Why not read it here?" Eva said, swallowing her sausage quickly. Evanna crinkled her nose, not really sure of how to explain her reluctance to read something from her father around others and not really sure if she wanted to anyway.
"Oh, leave off it," Elin said. "She's allowed some privacy."
Evanna nodded gratefully and took off down the corridor until she came to an out of the way alcove and settled in, heart thumping uncomfortably as though she was facing down one of her father's nastier training sessions.
Evanna,
Draco tells me you were Sorted into Slytherin and I must commend you on that. However, I have also heard some disturbing reports about who you have chosen to befriend-I hope that as you settle into the school you learn to be a little more discerning with your acquaintanceships. Do not make me regret not having you be tutored in the Manor.
I have made certain plans for Hogwarts this school year. I hope for your sake that you are keeping apprised of goings-on. You are well-trained and intelligent-you may be of some use as you come into your powers. Keep your eyes open and you will do well, Evanna.
Your mother has not been feeling well, and is thus unable to answer your letter. You may direct any inquiries to me.
Sincerely,
Your Father
Evanna cursed soundly under her breath, using some new words she had learned from Eva, as she stashed the letter into her bag.
"Oh, dear," a dreamy voice said beside her. Evanna jumped, having thought that she was alone in the little alcove, but Luna Lovegood had come to sit with her. "Have you been bitten?"
"Excuse me?" Evanna demanded, offended. Was the Ravenclaw asking if she was a werewolf or something?
"Well, this corridor is positively teeming with nargles, and now you are frowning and cursing," the blonde explained as though it was the most natural thing in the world.
Evanna blinked. She had now known the other girl for three weeks, and was still getting used to the flights of fancy she seemed to be prone to. Yet, Evanna couldn't help but enjoy her presence. Though she had learned to get along with her roommates, Luna had been the first and only person at Hogwarts to always treat her kindly.
"Oh-er-I don't think so," she said. "I just received a letter from my father. He's saying that my mother is unable to return letters right now, but I had a question for her that I really wanted answered."
"Oh," Luna said. "What about? Ravenclaws are quite good at answering questions, you know."
Evanna smiled. "I'm not sure you would know the answer, unless you're some sort of medi-witch."
Luna frowned, looking at the floor. Evanna followed her gaze. "Hmm, unfortunately, I am not-"
"Where are your shoes?" Evanna asked, blinking in surprise at her friend's stocking covered feet. For the first time since Evanna had met her, Luna seemed to lose that ethereal air about her, her face becoming a sort of blotchy pink.
"Well-I'm sure they just found it a laugh-there's no real harm in it-I like walking barefoot any way," the other girl mumbled. Evanna frowned, feeling anger stirring inside her.
My Housemates don't like me.
"Did your Housemates steal your shoes, Luna?" she asked.
"It was just a joke-"
"Do you know who specifically?"
"Really, Evanna it's not-"
At that moment, students began pouring from the Great Hall and Evanna cursed, knowing she wouldn't get the information from Luna now. Instead, she quickly pulled her magazine out of her bag and flipped to a page where she had giggled at a pair of bright turquoise Mary-Janes, but she couldn't imagine any other shoes suiting Luna Lovegood nearly as well. Narrowing her eyes, Evanna carefully did the incantation that the magazine suggested and performed the wand movements at Luna's feet.
"Stitching is a little wonky," Evanna sighed. That was her constant mistake. "But, those should get you through the day-oof."
Evanna was not expecting it when the other girl launched herself into a tight hug. Evanna sat frozen; the Malfoys were hardly openly affectionate, especially in public.
"Thank you! I can't believe all the other Ravenclaws say you Slytherins are mean-you've been the nicest person to me all year," Luna said. Evanna blinked. 'Nice' was also not an adjective used to describe Malfoys.
"Do me a favor, Luna," she said slowly.
"Whatever you need!"
"Don't tell your Housemates that," she said. "In fact, tell them that I am as mean as they come."
Luna blinked. "Well alright, but-"
"I've got to go, I've Potions first thing," Evanna said, quickly losing herself in the crowds of students. She would have to figure out who had stolen her friend's shoes some other way.
Evanna marched right up to Ginny Weasley as soon as she reached the Potions classroom, walking as though she owned the school. The Weasley girl jerked in surprise as Evanna plopped into the seat beside her just as Colin Creevey was pulling it out for himself.
"Why, thank you, Creevey," Evanna said with a sneer. "Now, move along. I believe some of your kind are on the other side of the room."
Creevey looked mildly terrified as he scurried off to the rest of the Gryffindors. Weasley was fuming.
"What did you do that for? He's my friend!"
"I thought I was, too, on the train," Evanna said, carefully pulling out her potions kit and setting out the ingredients she would need for the day.
"Well-you said that you-but now you're-and what do mean, some of Colin's kind?"
Weasley had a look of righteous indignation on her face. Evanna blinked.
"Don't you think he's more comfortable over there with the half bloods and muggle borns?" Evanna asked, pitching her voice low.
"No, I don't! I think he was perfectly fine sitting by me and it's no bloody wonder that you ended up in Sly-"
"Look, I didn't sit here to argue about Creevey," Evanna said dismissively. "Someone has been stealing Luna's things. I assume you're still friends with her?"
Weasley's face darkened. "Stealing her things-but why? How?"
Evanna quickly described what had gone down in front of the Great Hall. Weasley was fuming as well by the end of it, and Evanna knew she had succeeded in her mission. But, it was then that Professor Snape swept into the room, the door slamming behind him, causing all the Gryffindors to immediately silence their conversations and sit up while the Slytherins smirked at the effect their Head of House had on the brave lions.
As the professor called role, his eyes narrowed ever so briefly at Evanna's new choice of seat before he waved his wand at the blackboard and instructions appeared.
"Begin," he intoned. There was a rush for ingredients and cauldrons that hid any voices for a moment."
"Whatever you're planning to do to them," Weasley said. "I'm in."
Evanna grinned. "Firstly, we need to figure out who the scoundrels are."
"Scoundrels?"
Professor Snape prowled past them then and the girls were quiet for the rest of the period. The professor held Evanna back at the end of class.
"Interesting seat mate you chose today, Ms. Malfoy," he said nonchalantly. Evanna narrowed her eyes. Had her Head of House been making reports to her father? "Ms. Weasley is not quite the potioneer I'd expect you would want to partner with."
"Well, I like a challenge," Evanna replied loftily.
"Hmm," Professor Snape responded. "And what happened over the weekend, that was not challenging enough?"
Evanna's heart thumped a little harder. "What happened over the weekend was-was-just stress of starting a new school, I'm sure. Have you heard anything about my mother?"
The professor blinked eyes going wide before they quickly shuttered.
What does she know?
"Your mother?" he said slowly.
"Yes, my mother," Evanna replied. "Only she was supposed to write me after dropping me off at the train station-there was an incident-but only Father has written me since I arrived and he's saying that she's not feeling well."
Her Head of House looked troubled. "I've not heard anything of Mrs. Malfoy being ill, certainly not ill enough to-" he cleared his throat. "I am sure your father is perhaps being a little overzealous. It is time for your Herbology lesson, is it not?"
Evanna bit her lip, looking at the open door. The hallway looked empty. "My father usually allows the House Elves to take care of my mother-even when she had dragon pox. I've not heard from her in a week and-and I'm a bit worried, sir."
Something seemed to go a little soft in Professor Snape's eyes, something that was a rare occurrence, Evanna was sure. "I am unsure-"
"Could you check in on her?" Evanna said before she lost her nerve. "Please?"
The professor seemed to swallow. "Yes-I of course. Now get on to class."
You could (and probably should!) write fic for them, I'm sure it would be lovely if that little snippet is anything to go by.
I truly adore Eloise and can't wait to see what her place is in all of this. I know there are people waiting for some sort of revenge plot from her or hoping she outs Penelope based on the end of last season but then again, there is a distinct lack of media literacy the last few years that's truly sort of exhausting at this point.
I feel like the fight between them had to happen. Penelope being isolated from the people who know her best is now motivation for her narrative. Anthony felt isolated and under pressure and it was a large part of his motivation in his season. Colin will now be isolated from his usual friendship with Penelope and that will be part of his motivation, etc. Our Freytag's Pyramid essentially started with the end of s2 for our dear Penelope and Colin but also feel like they've always given the main characters a bit of the Hero's Journey without the supernatural element to contend with as well.
(Well now I'm just going to call him Lord Obi Wan Kenebling)
I am curious to see how they handle Colin knowing, in the book he was worried for her more than anything and I think I'd like to see that played out with the contrast to Eloise's anger. Having both Colin and Eloise get viscerally angry at her and saying the worst sort of things isn't going to do anything to move a story forward imo and will just feel redundant. Colin being in love with her by then very well may soften it and having them work together, especially since they keep saying how much it's friends to lovers, how they're going to be able to tell each other things they wouldn't tell anyone else, would be a good departure from the avoidant behaviors of earlier seasons.
Oh yes, I don't think she's going to hold anything against him. What he said was not something she didn't expect, it was the hurt of him saying out loud to everyone like that. I do think he will be the architect of his own suffering and I have to admit that I find that much more enjoyable than some perceived punishment that someone who loves him would dole out.
I did just stumble into the info that they were going for Marlboro Man for him vs sexy pirate and either way, they're very clear on him being a man now, ha. I think at this stage, she is used to him looking at her, even so much as staring at her at times, but she's never managed to read him right when it pertains to her and I think it will be fun if they play with that insecurity of hers, she won't quite get it until she *gets* it and it will be very satisfying indeed when he finally says it to her out loud.
I really don't think you can ever go wrong with using longing looks and yearning as foreplay tbh.
I have been writing the final chapter of my last Captain Swan fic for 2 years now. I keep telling them all it’s almost done as I write one sentence and delete it over and over again. I swore I was done writing. I dare not try my hand at things anymore for the sake of sucking me in. Hahahaha!
Back to the point at hand, I will be so annoyed if Eloise does out her to Cressida. I just don’t feel like she would do that even out of revenge. She’s angry and acting childish but they have been friends for so long, I can’t see her of all people just being cruel for cruelty’s sake. I just saw the snippet of her and Cressida on Netflix and you can see in those few seconds that their friendship is not because she WANTS to be with her, its not because suddenly she’s a girls girl who wants to hang and gossip. She’s hurt and feeling a way and who is the one person who would hurt Pen more than Cressida? Women can be cruel creatures when reacting with each other. But that does not mean she wants to cause her permanent damage by outing her to the Ton. She knows what that would mean and if she had wanted to truly hurt Pen, she would have done that already.
I can never not unsee Lord Obi Wan Kenebling and so I shall forever address him as so! Thank you!
I agree with you whole heartedly, if Eloise is angry and seeking out the one person that would anger Pen as revenge, I do not want to see Colin treat her with the same anger. I want to see Colin show after of course his initial confusion and anger, because of course he was affected by Whistledown himself and then trying to understand why she would do such a thing and take such a risk and especially, not tell him of all people. But I also want him to be the one person that understands her in the end.
I want him to be her refuge, her safe space, and the place where she finds her acceptance. Colin has always been some sort of home to her. Whether it was the one person who sheltered her in the sea of people at the ball, or the person who was interested in her thoughts while he was traveling and heard her desires via her written word, Colin has been the home to her heart, and I want that to be where Whistledown comes to find peace too.
She’s going to be scared when she realizes there is a price on her head, and she is alone in this only to have someone to offer her security and acceptance and THAT is going to glorious because it has always been Colin. But now, he will recognize that too. He’s been a bit slow on the uptake! I’ll have to really control myself not to fast forward out of impatience to get there. I love angst but I also hold it in great disgust for what it does to my heart!
I have a feeling that all the sultry stares and dare I say lustful, breathy ways these two will say Colin or Penelope will surely make up for it.
