SO uh—i'm really picky about fanfiction. like. really really picky.

i dunno why exactly, but i kinda have a hard time reading them right away bc a) i'm not really a shipper and that's most fanfiction i've seen and b) i like when i can really imagine the characters saying and doing whatever it is they're doing.

y'know the whole "he would not fucking say that" meme? lmao that's me, but with fanfics and only to myself. (i know everyone has their niche and i'm not here to police anybody's fun, just curate my own.)

anyway all that to say that i really, really liked this one. a lot. it's canon divergent off of into the spiderverse, and if you can believe it the comic is literally not a spoiler bc it's in the summary of the fic. but if you liked uncle aaron or even just are a sucker for redemption (? ish?) arcs, i think you'd like it! with all the angst and chaos from atsv it's a nice change of pace.

everytime i rewatch black sails, i find myself like vane more and more ngl. the first season really tries hard to trick you into thinking he’s just unnecessarily, banally, and uncompellingly an asshole (in the overwhelmingly compelling asshole show), whose one redeeming feature is that he’s kinda pathetic too. but geez s2 really nails home everytime that hes the best and the coolest and the most honest (maybe even most compassionate) of the mcs up until this point, barring anne of course. and on top of that i actually kind of think he has the best pre-s3 speeches. like obvs s4 flint is yknow s4 flint. and s3 max is so insane i actually cant handle it. but oh my god charles vane’s letter and his fuck your legitimacy eleanor speech and his hanging speech are so good. and fuck what i said earlier isnt even true. bc his s1 speech while hes looking in the eyes of the little boy he used to be is actually like the bestest. like fuck ok. charles vane is the best actually. #1 anarchist boy. 10/10 would want him in my commune. hed point blank refuse to help with the dishes tho so 😬.

#i painted a wall today by myself!!!!! i was feeling very high spoons and capable partly bc i rly wanted it done #ive never done any house painting before!!!!!! all told it took 12 hours #including 2 hours for masking the edges #i learned halfway through that having a cutting brush makes. everything so much. easier. so i know that now #it’s for our living room in the place we are moving into asap #and it looks. so good!!!! got dark teal feature wall. mainly blue other walls. then a white one (as of today) #just makes things feel so much brighter and more open!!!! #we are probably going to have to rip up the carpet which will be fun but. very difficult #anyway im going to be in so much pain tomorrow. 12 hours was too long for me to work (has ehlers danlos) #but i Did It and now the task is done and i feel. accomplished #not magnus content

aHH yes!! I think about Lucien being named for Light, and how Caleb's name means Spark. His parents hoping he would, "Shine bright for the Empire," and Caleb telling Mollymauk, "Shine bright, Circus Man."

I think about how Lucien lost his light--his childhood and warmth and compassion all burned away with the old family caravan and a witch in the woods. I think about how Lucien was offered salvation and hope again and again through the Moonweaver's welcoming light, yet turned away from her and kept running headlong into the abyss.

I think about how Lucien's name suits his role as the fallen hero so well; a destined, fate touched soul that had the same capacity for good as Mollymauk--yet kept falling into the same traps out of fear and desperation again and again. Too far gone to claw his way back. Until that part of his heart and his soul he tried so hard to cut away reached out a hand to him, offered him one last chance--

I think about Lucien being Light and how his parents always cast him as the villain in their little plays. How villagers always saw him as nothing but a devil and demon. How Lucien started to believe there was nothing of this hateful, broken, ruined world worth saving--

I think about how Molly remembers Caleb as, "softness and light," and how they both see each other as this comforting warmth and solace, a soul that shines bright--

This is the most expensive paint I own now

#it was 18.99 #i had a michaels gift card and they didnt have the thing i was actually there for so i got myself a lil treat #most of my paints are walmart paints cuz theyre the best cheap paint (and also the cheapest acrylics ive found) #but i have some liquitex basics that i also bought with a gift card #those were my most expensive paints #i also got myself some teeny detail brushes cuz ive been wanting some that i didnt get in a paint by number set lol #ALSO #my replacement light curtain got here today #unfortunately one of the thumbtacks holding them up broke and i cant reach it without a ladder to replace it #and moving my bed out of the way is way too much effort so i guess ill just suffer that part of the curtain drooping down farther #than the rest #its a lot brighter than the other one #which. that one was 3....? years old. so that checks out #honestly im impressed it still turned on but it was having enough issues i went ahead and got a new one #same brand #hopefully it lasts as long #cuz most reviews i read of other ones thought them lasting for more than 4 months was impressive #so clearly them lasting 3 years of constant use is unusual for these types of lights #i had to go to 4 stores today #i was just gonna go to michaels and target. but then dillons sent me a text reminding me to pick up my prescription (it auto refills) #and walmart had colanders and mixing bowls cheaper than target ($2 each instead of $4 each) #so since i was gonna be over there for my meds anyway i decided to stop at walmart for those things since theyre for rinsing my rocks off #so id rather just go with the cheapest options #but i still had to go to target cuz its the only place that has my favorite granola #BUT the granola was on sale today so thats good #.......gift cards dont expire right? i have a hobby lobby gift card from last Christmas that i havent used cuz i dont go to hobby lobby #but i need to check if they have a jar lid with a soap dispenser on it cuz michaels didnt have any and i have a skull jar i wanna turn into #a soap dispenser cuz my current skull soap dispenser is a cheap plastic one i got at walmart and it sucks

beating the not having a life and only watching movies allegations by missing a day of watching movies because i went shopping in town and then called and watched videos with my bf for the rest of the night <3 & today was a beautiful good day full of love and laughter :)
