they really are my absolute fave lesbians i’m sorry this took a while but it was really lovely to write so i hope it ended up okay 🙈
9. the hug that feels like home
Darcy slumped into her seat next to Tara and let her bag fall onto the floor. Tara had already turned to her with her usual open, sunny smile, and with barely any hesitation, she swooped in with a quick kiss. It drew a smile out of Darcy, unpreventable and predictable, but not entirely as easy as usual. She knew it showed, because with one real look at her face, Tara was frowning in faint concern.
Darcy urged her smile wider. “Hi.”
“Hi,” Tara replied, bumping their shoulders together. “You okay?”
“Yeah!” Darcy replied with as much enthusiasm as she could muster. “Yeah, I’m good. Happy to see you, aren’t I?” she teased.
She knew Tara wouldn’t be so easily convinced or dismissed, but the classroom was filling up, and Elle’s gaze had followed her to her seat after she didn’t quite get the usual pep into her passing greeting. But she knew she didn’t have to convince Tara of anything. Tara knew her better than anyone else and would understand perfectly what the issue was likely to be without any words exchanged between them.
She’d know that, mainly, Darcy wasn’t currently in the mood to talk about it.
Tara did, indeed, only hum contemplatively back, playfully narrowing her eyes even while she snuck her hand into Darcy’s atop Darcy’s lap and gave a comforting squeeze. Darcy tangled her fingers with Tara’s and allowed herself, briefly, to lean into the familiar warmth of Tara’s side as the form room filled up. She met Elle’s eyes, too, sometime amidst the roll call, and gave what she hoped was a reassuring grin. Elle smiled softly, warmly back, and some more of the irritated knots in Darcy’s chest loosened.
But this couldn’t last—Tara, or Elle, wouldn’t be with her in every class, and her mood took an almost immediate dip after the brief reprieve of form. It wasn’t that she didn’t have other friends in other classes, but it was that those other friends were just friends. Not friends. Not people who would see past her one meager smile and care enough to ask what was up; or that she would answer, even if they did.
And she’d had more, before. When her being a lesbian was just a quirky character trait that wasn’t affecting anyone else. When they could keep her, somewhat, in a box they approved of. Like her parents frequently attempted—and continuously failed—to do.
By the time lunch rolled around, her irritation had drawn on a headache that furthered her irritation in a vicious cycle. It was a testament to how bad she must have looked, when even Elle arrived at their table and stopped before sitting down. She tilted her head at Darcy while carefully pulling out her seat and laying her bag on the table. “Are you okay?”
“Mmhm,” Darcy mumbled, picking up a Monster Munch and twirling it between her fingers. She raised it a few inches, then dropped it back in the bag with a grimace. “Horrendous headache. Currently extremely glad we haven’t got music today.”
Elle cringed sympathetically. “Ugh, the worst. Do you want some painkillers? I think I’ve got a few in my bag.”
She began rifling through, and before Darcy could wave a dismissal, Tara was settling down at her side. “What do you need painkillers for?”
“It’s just a headache,” Darcy assured. “I don’t need any, it’s alright.”
“You sure?” Elle asked, pausing her search.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s fine. A nap will be the best and only real cure.”
Tara made a sad sound on her behalf, and Darcy felt her stomach twist as fingers suddenly weaved in her hair, smoothing gently along her scalp. She breathed out an almost inaudible sigh as Tara drew her head down onto her shoulder and pet carefully through her hair. “There, there,” Tara teased while Darcy closed her eyes, although it was too soft to really be joking. “Just don’t actually fall asleep on me, okay? Lunch isn’t long enough.”
“For a ten-to-fifteen minute nap it is,” Darcy tried, snuggling into Tara’s neck as Tara humphed.
“Come on. Do I need to feed you?”
“Ugh, please don’t,” Elle interrupted. When Darcy peeled her eyes open to look at her, she was grinning. “This is already too much sickening sweetness for me. I swear, I can’t escape it now with Nick and Charlie too.”
Darcy raised a brow at her, though she knew she wouldn’t have the usual energy for this conversation. Their presence had given her a little boost, though, and they would likely notice more if she didn’t take this opportunity as well. So she put on her best tone of exaggerated innocence and said, “Well, you know what they say. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”
Elle gave her the usual, highly-unimpressed look, and Darcy’s smile was no longer forced as she sank into the normality of it.
Then a girl giggled in passing, pulling a face at Tara and Darcy before mumbling to her friend. “Ew, as if. They think everyone’s like them, don’t they?”
Darcy felt Tara tense up under her, and her headache spiked and turned her vision red as she sat up straight. “I’m sorry, what makes you think we’d want you?”
The girl froze, meeting Darcy’s gaze with a wide-eyed look, clearly not expecting the address. She looked nervously at her friend, who shifted awkwardly beside her, then back to Darcy, unsure.
Darcy raised her brows. “Yeah, I’m talking to you. Go on, then. What makes you think we’d want you to be part of our exclusive club, hm?”
“Darcy,” Tara mumbled quietly, her hand tangling in the side of Darcy’s blazer. Under the table. Darcy knew that she’d already drawn attention. That the racket of the cafeteria had died down to curious, excited whispers; that glances were being flicked at them less and less conspicuously.
It only flared Darcy’s irritation higher, a sort of righteous anger that usually never outweighed her own comfort and confidence in herself. She really was tired. Tired of needing to be confident, of wondering how angry she should really be—of doubting the point of either. She was tired of everyone else feeling like they were due an opinion on her life rather than dealing with their own.
The girl shot her friend another look. Darcy wasn’t quite sure what year they were in—if they were slightly older or slightly younger or roughly the same. God, they were so entitled, and she didn’t even know their names.
“What?” Darcy demanded, when the two continued to stand there, silent. “Nothing to say now that you can’t pretend we don’t hear you? Or have you just realised you didn’t even know what we were talking about in the first place and your little comment made no sense to begin with?”
Finally the girl straightens her shoulders, tilting her chin up. “You know, I didn’t care you were gay or whatever, but like, you’ve just gotten really rude.”
Darcy barely held back an incredulous, hysterical burst of laughter. “Are you joking?” She looked to Tara and Elle. “Really, is she being serious right now?”
Darcy could see her annoyance reflected in Elle’s eyes, their gazes locked in understanding. Tara was looking at her searchingly. Her anger was only visible in the minute working of her jaw, of the tight clench of her hand still curled in Darcy’s blazer.
Tara looked up at the girls and leveled them with her most unimpressed stare, complete with one cocked brow and a tilted head. “Was that all?”
The girls stared at them for another moment before walking away. Darcy let out a harsh breath as Tara’s hand raised to settle gently on her shoulder.
“God, it’s like they really can’t hear themselves speak,” Elle sighed. “You’d think they’d be fed up by now.”
“People like that never get tired of themselves. Think of Harry,” Tara pointed out. She gave Darcy’s shoulder a slight squeeze and lowered her voice. “Are you okay?”
“Fine,” Darcy said, too sharp. Her adrenaline hadn’t entirely died down, and the ache taking over her skull had gotten worse. “I think I just need—I’ll be back in a bit.”
Before either of them could question her, she was on her feet and heading out of the cafeteria. She didn’t know where exactly she planned on going; her feet carried her in the direction of her and Tara’s music room before she decided against it, knowing it would likely be the first place Tara checked if she came looking. There weren’t all that many places Darcy could go where Tara wouldn’t find her relatively quickly, anyway, but if she could give herself a few more minutes, maybe it would be enough to fix her mood.
But she only made it outside and settled herself on the ground with her back to the wall for a moment before Tara was sitting next to her. Darcy had her arms wrapped around her legs and her head buried in her knees, willing some of the pain down with deep breaths, and couldn’t see her. But she had no doubt who it was. There was only ever one person it would be.
Tara sat next to her quietly, close enough for Darcy to feel her presence, but not actually touching. The message was clear—she wouldn’t push Darcy to talk, and she would give her space, but she was here. She wouldn’t leave Darcy alone.
It made Darcy feel worse even while bringing her comfort.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled.
Tara sounded genuinely confused when she responded, “What for?”
“I shouldn’t have bothered saying anything. It just gave everyone something else to whisper about and of course it didn’t help anything, anyway.”
There was a short silence; a hesitation. “You don’t usually let that sort of thing bother you, but you’ve been down all day. What’s wrong?”
Darcy didn’t—couldn’t—answer. She offered up a shrug, which became more of an awkward, full-body jostle in her position.
“Darcy,” Tara said softly. She shifted closer. Darcy felt a light grip on her left arm. “Come on, you can talk to me.”
“It’s not even about anything,” Darcy protested, though she took a breath and raised her head. She tilted it back against the wall to look at Tara, who was twisted slightly sideways to better see Darcy.
“It’s got to be something. You don’t get like this for no reason.” Tara shifted around even further so that she could directly face Darcy, though still remained at her side. She stretched her free hand over so she was holding onto both of Darcy’s arms. “Did your parents say something?”
Darcy glanced aside, which was probably already answer enough, if Tara’s quiet sigh was anything to go by. “Nothing new.”
“But it’s upset you more than usual,” Tara deduced.
There wasn’t any denying that, at this stage, so Darcy didn’t bother. She pulled her lips between her teeth a few times thoughtfully. “It’s just—it’s everywhere, now.”
Tara caressed her arms softly. “What’s everywhere?”
“All this…disappointment.”
Tara blinked. She sat back slightly. “Who do you think disappointed in you?”
“Well, my parents, for one, obviously,” Darcy started off, ducking her head with a sniff. “Apparently the entire school population. I don’t get it. They never—I’ve been out, this whole time, and they didn’t treat me like this before. I could—I’d come here, and not care, and be myself. And it wouldn’t be anything like it is at home. And I’d have you, and we’d…God.” She looked back up at Tara, who was watching her with such sincere sympathy that her guilt grew. The pressure pricking at her eyes was no longer just from a headache. “They always told me I make things so difficult, and it always just pissed me off, but that’s exactly what I have done to you.”
Tara’s face fell further. “Darcy—”
Darcy barged on. “Now I just keep thinking…maybe they’re right. Maybe if I was different then it would be better, and it wouldn’t be like—”
“Darcy,” Tara cut her off, reaching up to cup her cheeks and look at her directly. When she was sure Darcy’s mouth had snapped firmly shut, she leaned in and pressed a light kiss to it. Her thumbs stroked the skin under Darcy’s eyes, and the gentle, rhythmic motion eased some of the pounding in her skull. Tara leaned her head against Darcy’s and kept looking at her, even though this left their eyes flicking back and forth because they were too close to settle on both at once. “If you were different, you wouldn’t be you,” Tara said, softly; simply. “And I wouldn’t love you like I do.”
Perhaps it should have been too simple to cause such a drastic response, but all the lingering tension drained out of Darcy. Warmth was spreading through her, and she could already feel a smile tugging at her lips.
She couldn’t help it. “You’re a poet and you don’t even know it.”
She expected Tara’s unimpressed look leveled at her, but received an unbearably fond smile instead. “There you are.”
Darcy laughed, a small bubble of joy that popped almost as soon as it escaped her, but a spark of laughter nonetheless. It made Tara smile wider as she stroked over Darcy’s cheeks once more, then tugged her into her arms. Darcy sank into her now with absolutely no resistance. It was the most pleasant place she could have imagined ending up, if she was being honest. She began sort of wishing she had headed to their special room; it would have only been another special memory added.
But as Tara tangled her fingers in her hair and pressed a kiss to her temple, holding her tighter, Darcy knew it had little to do with the room. It hadn’t ever really been the school that made her feel safe, and the house she lived in with her parents was just that. Tara was home. Here, right in Tara’s hold, was where she found shelter and comfort and the space to be herself. To be one half of them.
“You’re allowed to be annoyed and upset and fed up sometimes too, you know,” Tara told her. “I can suck it up for both of us when you need me to.”
Darcy huffed another amused sound and tucked her arms tighter around Tara’s back. “It does really suck, sometimes.”
“I know.” Tara adjusted the hug so Darcy was nestled more closely against her, arms overlapping at each other’s backs and head over heart. “But I think it’ll get better.”

I’m kicking off my set of posts on season 1 overall, especially as an adaptation, with this one about structure, additions and omissions.
Alice mentioned somewhere on Tapas that she initially intended for Heartstopper to be a novel, but showing events in the characters’ lives without escalating and resolving overarching conflicts was better suited to a webcomic. The show changed it to allow that, and I think they really pulled it off! I have a long explanation in me about how pretty much every issue I’ve seen people have with Love, Simon doesn’t happen in the novel, and I believe most of them are the result of adaptation to cinematic convention, so it’s inextricable from my thoughts about adaptation across mediums and my go-to example of it being at the expense of the story. Heartstopper, on the other hand, is a nice example of retaining a good and similar story while staying in keeping with the TV season format.
What’s also super interesting is that the changes can be subtle and add up, because the show has a lot of the same scenes, in the same order, sometimes even with almost identical dialogue, but the adjustments they make collectively shift the story. That’s also why they’re easier to notice when looking at the whole season. The best example might be Charlie’s apparent low self-esteem: there are multiple instances of Charlie being down on himself added to scenes of the comic. Here are my posts on how the two versions of Nick and Charlie individually are different.
The show kind of stretches the comic: it often takes a couple scenes and has a whole episode surrounding them. I would say that its additions do a few things that all come down to fleshing out the story: they, a, build plotlines more gradually, b, develop and escalate conflicts, and c, take the opportunity to further explore major themes. I’ll elaborate on each 🙂
With regards to the more spacious buildup, it’s things like all the fuss surrounding Tara before she comes out to Nick, and it can be a little fillery. In the comic, Tao tells Charlie that he heard Nick likes a Tara Jones from Higgs, and the next we hear of her is when Harry meddles at his party. And that works. So, strictly speaking, Charlie asking Elle to find out whether Tara likes Nick, Tara coming out to Elle and thus also the viewers beforehand, Elle reassuring Charlie, and Harry and Christian discussing Nick’s opportunity to talk to Tara are not indispensable — they’re just other events surrounding the ones that give us key information. However, this type of additions let us spend more time with and get to know the characters, which is awesome, and the greatest benefit from it probably comes to Taoelle. In the chapters of the comic corresponding to season 1, we only see them together at the bowling alley, and most of their romance is just direct characterization: other people note that they like each other a couple times. In the show, we get to see a lot of them together, their romantic storyline is set up and progresses, and there are scenes dedicated to it.
In terms of brewing conflicts, I’d say the conflicts in question are with Nick’s mates, Tao’s concerns, and Charlie’s insecurity. For instance, Nick actually undoes telling off Harry at the party, so Harry can stay the crux of Nick’s social pressure. But honestly, this whole storyline is one of the biggest changes from the comic, I think: it’s really relevant in the show, it’s almost The conflict, but it barely exists in the source material. Tao’s conflict, too, is way more significant. Both call for their own posts, linked here for Nick's friends and here for Tao. And most of the aforementioned post about Charlie could work as an elaboration on the third one. Anyway, they all reach boiling points in the last two eps of the season, unlike the comic, which moves pretty uniformly. There’s also Ben’s little comeback, which might’ve been intended as part of Charlie’s crisis, but then I think it could’ve been executed more effectively, since what Ben threw at him wasn’t really what Charlie was worrying about. It may also have been thrown in for structure in its own right. Show seasons and movies often have a low point where every storyline has gone to s***, then they’re resolved one by one; Ben Benning again pulls the show closer to the rockest possible bottom and creates another step to take up.
Finally, about exploring themes, I’m mainly thinking about Tara’s coming out storyline. The show has a mostly closeted LGBTQ+ character other than Nick and an opportunity to show, through her, other experiences related to coming out. And I’m glad they do! Here’s a post about me really liking how the season explores coming out 😅 The storyline with Imogen, which is entirely new, can also be seen as fleshing out the major theme, because it slots cleanly into the expectations and pressures Nick faces; and maybe secondarily as bulking up an existing conflict, because it fans the Tao flame.
Through all three types of additions, most characters get to be if not more impactful, then more present than in the comic. Isaac is about equally present to Aled, whom he kind of replaces, Elle makes many more appearances and actually has some influence on the plot, and Tao is waaay more involved. While Darcy hasn’t really gotten her own focus, her participation does increase along with Tara’s, who has an episode that notably explores her coming-out. Heck, even Harry and Ben have more to do.
I’ll touch on omissions briefly, because I don’t think there are many, but they did take some useful and really interesting stuff out for no clear reason, I thought. I’m pretty much just thinking of Tao in the bathroom explaining that he’s as worried as he is about Nick pulling something because Charlie was bullied really hurtfully and Tao was powerless to fix it. This definitely would’ve made it easier to see Tao’s desperation as coming from a place of hurt and fear. But also, Nick in response to that conversation saying that he wishes he had done something about it at the time, and Tao noticing that Nick is flirting with Charlie and doubting the sincerity of that, not their friendship in general. But perhaps most significantly, Christian, Sai and Otis — acronymed, that can make COS, so I call them collectively Cosine (or… Co-Sai-ne?) — blur into the other mates in the show. HOWEVER, credit where credit is very much due, you can see them being uncomfortable in the cinema in the show too,
Tumblr media
so I assume they’ll be back and this is some great attention to detail for the retrospect. In that case, though, there will be an unnatural spike in their involvement: they would be apologizing to Nick and starting to be treated as his friends shortly after the viewers learn their names.

Ok so I have several reading lists/stacks that I rotate through: my to-read spreadsheet (which has almost 300 titles listed in chronological order by date added, with the oldest being from 8/22/2014), my to-read bookcase/nightstand (which holds ~50 books I’ve acquired over the past few years but haven’t yet read), a stack of oversized unreads that don’t fit on the nightstand shelves (this gets its own list bc I need to read them and find a permanent home for them before the stack gets too tall), and “interruptions” (books that override the list order bc I didn’t want to wait to read them, for whatever reason).
Maybe it’s weird that I’m so attached to reading things “in order”? Idk. I’ve always been like this. It’s only a mild compulsion – obviously, I am perfectly capable of ignoring what’s supposed to be next on the list, in favor of reading something that catches my interest more strongly in the moment, but in general, I like to read things either in the order I added them to the list, or the order I personally acquired a physical copy (if I went by the list only, I’d be drowning in unread books [yay, college town thrift stores], so I gotta stay on top of that pile pretty regularly). So that is why I am often reading things that I first became aware of/added to my list nearly 10 years ago. Sometimes this practice results in feelings like, “Dang, I wish I would’ve actually read this 10 years ago,” but also sometimes, “WOW, I’m so glad I’m reading this RIGHT NOW, as opposed to 10 years ago when I first heard about it!”
I think my favorites this year were Mariette in Ecstasy; Other Voices, Other Rooms; Crapalachia; and Speak, Memory.
Mild disappointments were the essay collections by Leslie Jamison and Meghan Daum, two authors I’m pretty sure I discovered via popular and relateable quotes reblogged on tumblr ca. 2014, but the collections taken as a whole just had too many moments of cringe – casual classism, arrogant self-absorption, and other annoying and unrelateable qualities typical of privileged 20-something writers (this tone definitely appealed to me when I was a naïve and melodramatic snotty 20-something, so there’s that).
As a kind of memorial, Rachael and I read David’s three favorite books: The Stars My Destination, Mother Night, and American Gods. In all the time I knew him, including all the times we used to sit on the porch together, reading quietly while he drank whiskey, I never thought to ask him his favorites. I kept looking for pieces of him in the stories, wondering what lines stood out, what made a book memorable, what did it say about him that these were his favorites.
Being an elder Millennial, I’m in the stage of nostalgically re-acquiring important artifacts from my childhood, so that’s why there are some children’s books on my list. Where’s Waldo? was one of the most coveted books in my grade-school library! There was always a list of people waiting to check it out, but usually, whoever actually had the book that week would let the other kids gather around and look together.
My Heart Is a Chainsaw was a recommendation from my goth teenaged birthdaughter <3 which I probably read too much personal symbolism into but maybe not!
I thought John Updike was overrated, lol.
Favorite photography book: W. Eugene Smith’s Dream Street. His pictures made me so homesick, and it was wild because he took them from 1955-1957 but they still really, REALLY, to me, looked like the Pittsburgh of my ‘80s/’90s memories (bc Pittsburgh doesn’t change, and also the “idea” or “brand” of Pittsburgh in the ‘80s/’90s was ofc consciously referencing its industrial working-class past). He took over 10,000 photos but was never able to “finish” the project to his intense, obsessive standards of perfection (I KNOW THAT FEEL) and felt it failed to capture the multifaceted essence of the city. WELL, not in my opinion at least!
PS I'm moonmoth on LibraryThing.

“Olivia Roe,” 31 (UK 2010)
A case study reported a fatal septic infection after chemical pill abortion in 2010. Olivia Roe was 31 and was killed in the UK.
Olivia was 8 weeks pregnant when she took the abortion pill. According to her records, the unknown abortion facility prescribed Doxycycline (a prophylactic antibiotic) to take for 10 days as a preventative measure against infection. It wasn’t enough to save her.
According to the doctors who wrote the study, Olivia was supposed to have a follow-up appointment one week after starting the chemical abortion. (This is a step that American abortion facilities typically don’t take for clients who buy the abortion pill.) She apparently hadn’t been seen for her follow-up appointment.
Only a month after starting the abortion, Olivia was admitted to admitted to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. She was suffering from vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. A pelvic ultrasound didn’t detect any fetal body parts or placental tissue left inside of her.
Her condition deteriorated rapidly. Only 22 hours after she was admitted to the hospital, Olivia started experiencing pain and cramping in her legs. Once this symptom started, she quickly began to show symptoms of severe septic infection that included intramuscular bleeding on her thigh and buttock in an inflammatory response to tissue damage, excessive and abnormal blood clotting throughout small blood vessels, bruising, swelling and rashes. Olivia was observed to be confused and drowsy.
Emergency exploratory surgery was done to try to find the cause of sepsis, but no source of intra-abdominal or pelvic sepsis was located during the procedure. The swelling around Olivia’s thighs and gluteal region continued to increase as blood escaped into her tissues from the ruptured blood vessels. She suffered gas gangrene and necrosis that went all the way to the bone. Blisters with blood inside appeared on her thighs.
Despite the best efforts of the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary’s doctors, Olivia died only 28 hours after being admitted to the hospital. She had only survived for 5 1/2 hours after her leg pain started.
Olivia’s autopsy was as alarming as her symptoms. She had abscesses and inflammation in her uterus at the site of the “termination”. Necrosis in the skeletal muscles (predominantly in her thighs) was found. In addition to the necrosis and gas gangrene, her blood cultures returned positive for anaerobic Clostridium septicum.
Olivia’s case is strikingly similar to the deaths of 18-year-old Holly Patterson, Oriane Shevin, Chanelle Bryant, Alyona Dixon, Hoa Thuy “Vivian” Tran, Sarah Dunn, Manon Jones, Jessie-Maye Barlow, “Tina Roe”, “Toni Roe”, “Corrie Roe”, “Marcie Roe”, “Tara Roe”, “Wanda Roe”, “Jane Roe” of Canada, “Carmen Roe”, “Belle Roe”, “Crystal Roe”, “Summer Roe” and Maria Del Valle González López. In addition, the RU-486 pill killed many others through various other causes of death, such as Nadine Walkowiak and Anna Maria M (cardiac problems), Rebecca Tell Berg and Manon Jones (blood loss) and Brenda Vise and “Ella Roe” (ruptured ectopic pregnancy). The RU-486 pill is far from safe.
Fatal Clostridium septicum following medical termination of pregnancy C. L. Khoo, A. Meskhi & C. P. Harris

Hii for the ask game: a, c and v. very curious about those
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed. Nick + Tara friendship is my everything in Heartstopper fandom, so I'm desperately hoping we get more of them together in s2. Anthony and Kate from Bridgerton still has a chokehold on me, even though I'm not in the fandom. And of course Nick x Charlie and Wille x Simon are my current OTPs.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will. Hmm. This is hard because the ships that immediately come to mind are from shows I don't watch (or quit watching), like SPN, RNM or the 9-1-1 shows. I definitely don't ship Reylo in Star Wars. In Merlin, I could never ship Arthur and Gwen, because obviously Arthur and Merlin are soulmates. ❤️ I much preferred Gwen and Lancelot in the show, and the after the bloodbath, Gwen + Sir Leon. ETA: How could I forget Tom and Greg from Succession?!. They make my skin crawl for some reason, so I definitely don't ship them.
V - Which character do you relate to most? Tara Jones! I think my younger self was quite a bit like Tara, though she's a little (okay a lot) more patient than I am. She's studious and tries to be loyal and kind. She's a little more serious than some of the other kids and doesn't necessarily want to be the center of attention. I also think she tends to keep things to herself until it gets to be too much, which I defintely relate to. Thanks for the ask! If anyone else wants to play, questions are here.

Heartstopper - Season Three
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/6nGOq4N by MysticFirez A Friend of mine wrote an outline of what she thinks will happen in each episode of Heartstopper Season Three, so I'm writing it! I will be using both her outline (with her permission) as well as pulling from the books (not everything will be word for word) and basing it on the way the TV show is written for the characters! Please Read the tags because I may forget to put C/W on chapters. I don't know how often I'll update this BUT it will be done before the actual Season Three comes out and then we can see how I've done! Spoilers from the comics will be in this! Read at your own risk. Giving a Mature Rating due to what Charlie will be going through in Future Chapters. I do not know if Smut (for when they have their first times) will be in included since I don't normally write that. I hope you enjoy! *ROLLS UP MY GAY SLEEVES* LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS(send me a ship challenge)
Who would be the big spoon/little spoon?- darcy is big spoon and tara is def little spoonWho would wake up first?- i like to believe tara wakes up first.Do they have nicknames for each other?- i’m a big lover of last calling out last names, esp. catchy ones so i’m going with olsson & jones, jonesy, & d How do they apologize after an argument?- darcy apologizes profusely (in an effort to show tremendous apology), and tara’s just like “listen, babe, listen, i’m sorry.”What would they be like as parents?- darcy running around being ‘fun’ mom, eating dessert first & staying up late with the kids while tara is more i am a parent i am an adult but still having funWho is more romantic?- oh god. i think equally romantic? like they both know just that perfect gesture to do for the other? oh man What sort of gifts do they get for each other?- tara’s always getting darcy snazzy socks & ties, while darcy looks at jewelry, flowers, and little sweet things for tara Who gets jealous easiest?- DARCY like to the extent of walking over and just planting one on tara and then walking away to prove a pointWho gets more excited for events e.g.. Birthdays, Christmas?- I think it’s more or less canon that tara is pretty laid back while darcy is more hyper. so i’m definitely going with darcy doing big planning and excitement (oh god do i have a bias)Who is the most adventurous?- equal. i’m going with equal.Who is the most protective?- depends. in the manner of  i will lay down my life for you then both, in a THROW THEM FISTS UP BRUH both. darcy is action & fire, tara is planning and precision. What would they have been like as childhood sweethearts?- they are sweethearts and i love them. darcy picking flowers and looking sheepish. tara being cool and suave. both just being totally infatuated with each other.Who uses all the hot water?- TARA. “it takes time to look this good !!”Who would accidentally set the kitchen on fire whilst cooking?-  Darcy. 100%Who initiates sexy times the most?- equal/if not equal tara.Who is more dominant?- tara. What would they do if the other one was hurt?- tara would keep level head, hiding massive stress that would occasionally spill out like shit shit shit oh my god shit, and darcy would probably lose it, frantic and worrisome OR stone cold - everything is fine. we’re going to be fine.  Who gives nose/forehead kisses?- tara nose, darcy foreheadWhat their biggest fight was/will be about:- ermm probably energy clashing? darcy being quick and fire on things while tara wanting a bit more planning. BONUS #1: Song to sum them up?- honey - kehlaniBONUS #2: A head canon?- early on/pre-relationship, tara was on the fence on her identity but knew that she liked darcy and darcy, entirely oblivious to anything other than the fact that holy shit tara, was just slowly falling and falling for tara. they would hangout a lot and tara would do little sweet nothings like leaning into darcy, brushing finger tips, cuddling etc thinking that darcy would catch the hint that hey i really like you and lead up to actually saying so and turning this into something more. all the while darcy’s dying internally which leads to their first kiss when darcy’s brain just shuts down and she leans in for it.BOTTOM LINE: Do I ship it?HELL YES
