Elia and her children are smuggled out onto a boat headed to Dorne with the help of her uncle Lewyn. As she recovers from the trauma while safely back at home, she realizes that she's pregnant due to Rhaegar bedding her one last time before going off to battle. All her loved ones are scared that this pregnancy will kill her but with the help of a skilled midwife and maester, a successful c-section is performed on her without killing her. She brings her last children into the world, a pair of twins and they live a happy life with their mother and siblings.

-Being the eldest and having had the most memories of the viciousness of the court in Kingslanding, along with narrowly surviving Amory Lorch's attack, she's incredibly protective of her siblings. Because of this, she also prefers to keep to herself and can take some time to get her to warm up to you.

-She doesn't like being called "Rhae" as a nickname, as she also associates it with her sire who abandoned her, so Oberyn came up with the nickname "Nyssy." Ever since then, it's been a term of endearment for her from her family

-Grew close to her great uncle Lewyn's paramour, Alba Sand, and often loved spending time with and learning from her.

-When she was first brought to the Water Gardens, she enjoyed playing in the water with the other children. This love of the water stayed with her as she grew and she became quite a skilled swimmer and sailor. Her mother would joke that she was half-mermaid, something that has her equal parts embarassed and touched.

-Loves reading on different parts of Dornish history, be it of real accounts or mythological ones. Her favorite story is about how Nymeria came to Dorne, especially the part where she encouraged her people to intermingle with the inhabitants out of a wish to unite them.

-Trained alongside her cousin Obara, wanting to learn how to defend herself and her loved ones. This causes the cousins to be the best of friends and for her to become quite skilled at both the sword and the bow. Whenever she had time, she'd ride out to hunt for birds and would often bring enough for her family to have banquets. During these banquets, the Smallfolk would also be open to feasting alongside their Lords and Rhaenys would enjoy sharing stories with children, low or highborn.

-Loves her little brother Aegon and calls him "Eggy", though not to the extent of their Targaryen ancestors. In fact, the idea of incest puts her off that when Elia admitted that part of Rhaegar's plan behind the prophecy was to marry her and Aegon to "the third head" she was disgusted.

-Prefers to believe she was named after The Queen Who Never Was instead of one of The Conquerors, it makes the idea of her naming more palatable to her.

-Became a skilled merchant thanks to her voyages where she brought back treasures and new trade partners for House Martell. During these voyages, she went under the alias "Talisa Sand" but has also embraced the moniker she had earned, that being "The Sunsailor." She had also caught the eye of a certain redheaded Stark heir while doing a trade deal in White Harbor. She returned his feelings and some say that they had a Rhoynish wedding ceremony while at sea.

-After some confusion regarding her identity was cleared and she and Robb Stark came clean to their families, Ned and Elia permitted them to marry. It not only helped heal any aminosity between Dorne and The North, but it also opened up trade deals between the two kingdoms. After she wed Robb in front of a Heart Tree, she preferred to keep the surname Martell.

-Had three children, a girl named Elana then twin boys named Brennon and Torren. Her children would later found the new cadet House of House Stark, House Sunstark.

-Very passionate, impatient, and loving. It was often said that he seemed to be his uncle Oberyn born once again, which would make his heart swell with pride as he saw his uncle as more of a father to him than his sire.

-Trained under his uncle in the way of the spear and how to use speed to his advantage. Him incorporating these lessons into duels he participated in earned him the moniker "Swiftspear" which he proudly embraced, seeing as it was similar to the moniker of one of the few historical Targaryens he did like, that being Baelor Breakspear.

-When he learned about Rhaegar's initial plan to marry him and Rhaenys to the intended "third head", the idea seemed so ridiculous to him that he laughed.

-A huge mama's boy, something he was initially embarrassed about but as he grew older, he wore it with pride. To him, Elia Martell would always be the best choice of Queen and he admittedly is bitter over the treatment she had received while at court. As such, he's often the first to react angrily among Elia's children if someone insults her.

-Tended to be extremely impulsive which at first, worried Elia as it could be a sign that he may turn out like his sire. But over time, the positive influence of his relatives helped curb this trait of his, though it does occasionally kick into full gear if anyone mistreats his loved ones.

-Loves the color blue and often wears it, even occasionally dyeing his hair blue. He only does the latter in privacy though.

-Like his uncle, he's bisexual. This sprouted rumors that he had bedded numerous people, though these were highly exaggerated, much like other hypersexualised talk of the Dornish. He's also polyamorous, having gotten into a happy and loving four-way relationship with his cousins Arianne and Tyene along with Ser Daemon Sand. This became a rather scandalous and infamous topic of gossip out of Dorne, but Eggy and his lovers could care less.

-While his older sister was often aloof and kept to herself, he was more outgoing. Smallfolk and nobles alike were drawn to his magnetic personality and he made many friends. He also earned the moniker "Aegon the Beloved" after he and his sister Lorea started suggesting and coming up with laws that could help the smallfolk which his uncle Doran implemented.

-Eventually married Arianne through a wedding following The Faith of the Seven. But the two married their paramours in a Rhoynish wedding ceremony.

-Had six children. His children with Arianne included twin girls named Aria and Elia, then a boy named Maron. His children with Tyene included a girl named Nymella, then a boy named Mors, then another boy named Olyvar. His and Tyene's sons were named after their uncles who died in the cradle. Different cadet branches of House Martell were formed by his and Tyene's children, with Nymella forming House Nymerion, Mors forming House Martell of Planky Town, and Olyvar forming House Martell of the Greenblood.

-The older of the twins, being born five minutes before her twin brother.

-Named after her grandmother Loreza Martell. When Elia told Oberyn about her intention to do so, Oberyn admitted that he would want to also name a daughter of his after their mother, so they settled on a compromise.

-Headstrong and confident, she often fought for the right thing to be done. As such, she was often seen by her Uncle Doran's side whenever he oversaw any grievances from his people, often advocating for true justice and fairness. She disliked certain parts of Westerosi culture, such as the kinslaying taboo or bastardy stigma, speaking up for those who killed abusive relatives in self-defense or for bastards whose birth brought them troubles. Because of this, like her brother Aegon, she was loved among the smallfolk but unlike him, the highborn found her to be a thorn on the side. This reputation of hers earned her the moniker "Lorea the Just" which the smallfolk would call her earnestly, while the highborn would call her that mockingly.

-Is very close to her uncle Doran, and he considers her to be another daughter of his. She learned under his tutelage and with her cousin Arianne, they became his most trusted advisors.

-While she mostly dislikes her Targaryen heritage and doesn't have a high opinion of most Targaryen men, she can't help but be fascinated with the lives of the often overlooked Targaryen women. In particular, she loves reading about the daughters of the conciliator and has collected different songs and stories made about Saera.

-Interested in horticulture, medicine, mixology, she learned how to care for different plants and turn them into potions and poisons. These, she would distribute to the smallfolk whenever she visited the Shadow city.

-Between her older siblings, she's closer to Aegon because of their similar dispositions and she's the one who came up with his nickname "Eggy" while he gave her the nickname "Rea"

-Can be very stubborn, and quick to form opinions of people before getting to know them. This has landed her in trouble several times, and while she has improved over time, she still sometimes catches herself making jumping to assumptions of others that she holds onto.

-Because she's the more outspoken of the two, she's the "speaker" of the twins, with her talking for both of them while her brother Lewyn often hides behind her. She was said to shine as bright as her House's sigil, earning her the nickname "Lady Lustrious"

-She's close friends with her cousins Sarella and Elia along with Allyria Dayne.

-While delivering her potions to the Smallfolk, she met a Tyren Toland, who was a son of Lady Nymella Toland's distant cousin. The two fell in love and had three children, a boy named Valero, then a girl named Nymara, then another boy named Teodore. Her and Tyren's sons were named after his cousins Valena and Teora while their daughter was named after her cousin Nymeria.

Lewyn Martell Targaryen

-The younger of the twins, being born five minutes after his twin sister.

-Named after his great uncle Lewyn, who died sacrificing himself to give Elia, Rhaenys and Aegon a chance to escape. He's often seen tending to Lewyn's grave in House Martell's crypt, making sure the candles are lit and flowers are replaced.

-A lover of the arts, he busied himself with painting, pottery, and poetry. It was said that he had a lovely voice and was also skilled at the harp, though people comparing him to his sire whenever they witnessed the latter would upset him. He also loved reading, often being found sitting by a candlelight with his nose buried in a book.

-Very soft-spoken and shy, he often hid behind his mother or sisters' skirts. It was observed that when he was introduced to his extended family, he was initially scared of Doran and Oberyn and that when he and his siblings were first brought to the Water Gardens, he played by himself in a corner of the pools.

-Between his older siblings, he's closer to Rhaenys because they are similarly aloof and prefer to keep to themselves. He often calls her by her nickname "Nyssy" that it's rare for her to call her Rhaenys except during the few times they fight.

-Despite his shyness, it was said that there was a charm to him that could only be noticed once you gained his trust and were close to him. In particular the younger Sand Snakes were fond of him as his gentleness and patience made him a great babysitter for them. He was also close to his second cousin, Meria Sand, who was the granddaughter of Lewyn and Alba through their firstborn, Myriah Sand.

-Unlike his namesake, he wasn't really interested in learning to fight. The most he would do was just learn how to defend himself should he ever become ambushed. He did keep small daggers in his boots though for safety.

-Growing up, he seemed frail and fragile like his mother was, often having to be tended to by Sunspear maesters. Even though his family would always reassure him that they don't mind caring for him, he couldn't help but feel guilty over it.

-Was the first to learn of Rhaenys falling in love with Robb since she told him, at first he was wary of the Stark boy, but grew to like him too and approve of their relationship.

-When he reached his sixteenth nameday, he revealed to his family that he wanted to make something of himself instead of "being a burden to them," wanting to go see more of Dorne since most of his early life was spent indoors out of concern for his constitution. His uncle Doran and his mother initially forbid it, but some convincing from Rhaenys and Oberyn, he was permitted to do so. With his most precious belongings, some food and water, and a spare change of clothes, he left with two Sand Steeds.

-During his travels around Dorne, he regularly wrote to his family and sent them gifts while they would have money sent to him whenever he would temporarily settle in a town or city. To their surprise, they learned that he had acquired a retinue of paramours, as various older ladies had grown drawn to his charm.

-Eventually, he did return to Sunspear with his paramours and many bastard children. His paramours were affectionately dubbed "The Ladies of the Dunes" since he met most of them while traveling through the dunes while his children were called "The Sands of the Dunes" to differentiate them from their cousins the Sand Snakes. While he introduced his paramours and children to his family, Meria Sand would admit she love for him and would proudly become a Lady of the Dune.

-Among his many children were a girl named Larra who was his firstborn, a boy named Elias, twins named Doren and Dara, a child named Alina (who would refer to themself as neither a man and woman), and many more.

Elaena Targaryen (c. 150-220 AC): Youngest child of King Aegon III and his wife Daenaera Velaryon. For the entirety of her teenage years, she was imprisoned in the Maidenvault by her older brother, Baelor I. She fell in love with Lord Alyn Velaryon and gave birth to his twin bastard children, Jon and Jeyne Waters. After he disappeared at sea, she eventually agreed to marry another after a year had passed. She was wed to the aged Lord Ossifer Plumm, but he died on their wedding night. Nine months later, she gave birth to a son, Viserys Plumm, whom some whispered had been fathered by the ruling king, Elaena's cousin Aegon. After Aegon's death, she married Lord Ronnel Penrose, Daeron II's master of coin. Daeron trusted Elaena with many matters of state, including doing her husband's job. She had four children with Ronnel, then declared that seven children was enough for her. After he died, she married once more, this time for love. Fancast: Kirsten Dunst.

Eleanor Mooton (b. 286 AC): Daughter and heir of Lord William Mooton of Maidenpool. She is wed to Dickon Tarly, the youngest son and heir of Randyll Tarly of Horn Hill, who has occupied Maidenpool at the end of the War of Five Kings. Fancast: Bella Ramsey.

Elenda Caron (b. approx. 97 AC): Wife of Lord Borros Baratheon of Storm's End, and mother to his four daughters, the Four Storms. In the Dance of the Dragons, Lord Borros was initially courted by both sides, but came out in support of Aegon II after betrothing one of his daughters to Aegon's brother Aemond. Elenda became pregnant once again during the Dance and gave birth to a boy, Royce, seven days after her husband died in battle. She ruled the Stormlands as regent until her son came of age. Elenei (Age of Heroes): The daughter of the sea god and the goddess of the wind, she loved the mortal Durran Godsgrief, who became the first Storm King. Eleyna Westerling (b. 287 AC): Younger daughter of Lord Gawen Westerling and his wife, Sybell Spicer. Her older sister, Jeyne, becomes the wife and queen of Robb Stark during the war of the Five Kings, and Eleyna and her mother and siblings join his retinue. Fancast: Bonnie Wright.

Elia Martell (256-283 AC): Daughter of the ruling Princess of Dorne and wife of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, with whom she had two children, Rhaenys and Aegon. Elia's health was ever fragile, and the maesters advised that it would be dangerous for her to bear any more children; this may have been the reason that Prince Rhaegar abducted Lyanna Stark, since he believed that he needed to have three children to fulfill an ancient prophecy. However, Rhaegar died in battle during Robert's Rebellion, and when King's Landing fell to Tywin Lannister, Elia and her two tiny children were brutally murdered at his command. Elia Sand (b. 285 AC): Eldest daughter of Prince Oberyn Martell, younger brother of the ruling Prince Doran, and his paramour Ellaria Sand. She accompanies her cousin, Princess Arianne Martell, on her way to meet the Golden Company, and gets into trouble along the way. Fancast: Ivana Baquero.

Elinda Massey (b. approx. 115 AC): Lady in waiting to Queen Rhaenyra during the Dance of the Dragons. She was with Rhaenyra in King's Landing until she fled from the rioting, and landed with her on Dragonstone, where she witnessed Rhaenyra's death by her brother Aegon II's dragon, Sunfyre. Stories say that she gouged her own eyes out at the sight of Rhaenyra being devoured by the dragon. Fancast: Doutzen Kroes.

Elinor Costayne (b. 28 AC): The widow of a knight named Theo Bolling. After he was killed by the king, Maegor the Cruel, for supposedly conspiring with the Dowager Queen Alyssa to put her son Jaehaerys on the throne, she was summoned to marry Maegor in a ceremony with two other brides. All three women, known as the Black Brides, were widows and had borne children; Elinor had given her first husband three sons by the time she was nineteen. She became pregnant with Maegor's child, but the son was stillborn and deformed. After Maegor's death and the accession of Jaehaerys I, she was one of the Seven Speakers who helped convince the realm of King's Jaehaerys' fitness for the crown and the Targaryens' exceptionalism. She eventually devoted herself to the Faith of the Seven, joining the great motherhouse in Lannisport. Fancast: Joely Richardson.

Elinor Massey (b. approx. 120 AC): She was one of the noblewomen suggested as a marriage candidate for King Aegon III after the death of his first wife, Jaehaera. After it was announced that there would be a ball held on Maiden's Day for the king to choose a new wife, a tale of how she had been deflowered started to spread, probably instigated by the Hand of the King, Unwin Peake, who wanted to marry the king to his own daughter, Myrielle. Jon and Ghost came out of their rooms and from across the hall Aegon and Viserys came into the corridor and they heard loud snoring, "I thought an animal would die", said Jon, Aegon and Viserys.

Dany and Rhaenys stared at the wall, "I'm not counting the sheep until I fall asleep to this snoring instead I'm counting the dragons."

"At least he's still breathing", Lyanna, Elia and Rhaegar stared at the ceiling while Barristan Selmy's snoring could be heard throughout the Red Keep.

Elia, Jon, Barristan Selmy, Rhaegar, Gerold Hightower and Arthur Dayne walked the streets of the Capital and the knights yawned loudly, "did you drink too much last night", Barristan Selmy, Arthur Dayne and Gerold Hightower nodded, "I think the last of the 40 beers was bad."

"Your snoring could be heard throughout the Red Keep. Chances are the entire Crownlands had heard you snore", said Elia, Ashara, Lyanna, Aerys, Rhaella and the People, Rhaegar and Barristan Selmy, Ashara, Arthur Dayne, Gerold Hightower, Aerys, Varys, Daenerys, Oberyn, Ellaria, Rhaella, Viserys, Rhaenys, Aegon, Jon, Elia, Rhaegar and Lyanna laughed aloud.

Outside the door laughed Arthur Dayne, Gerold Hightower, Aerys, Varys, Barristan Selmy, Viserys, Oberyn, Jon, Lyanna, Elia, Daenerys, Rhaenys, Aegon and Rhaegar, "you're the laughing stock of the continent. Everyone laughs at you and Baratheons are losers it's in their DNA. Shut up you fat, stupid, heartless, evil Monster."

"I drink myself to the grave", and Robert Baratheon fell asleep drunk in his own vomit like a stupid pig.

Rhaenys and Daenerys walked over the walls of the capital with Oberyn, Rhaella, Varys and Alliser Thorne as they chanted Baratheon Banner in the distance and ran into the streets of the capital, "to the weapons. Baratheons are in the Crownlands. Invasion of the Crownlands. Invasion, to arms", and the people took up arms and built barricades against the Baratheon armies. Regardless, this is made extra interesting to me because it’s Daenerys who got the name that theoretically would have been perfect and symbolic for a princess of Dorne and the 7 Kingdoms, whose portrait Elia grew up with at the Water Gardens. Which is, I guess, the inverse of the Dany situation - her name obviously came first, then when Martin worked out the history, he gave Daeron’s sister who would marry Maron the same name, retroactively making her the Dany of the present era’s namesake.

With Dany, this is an easy change - regardless of why Rhaella gave her that name, we only know of one other Daenerys. So no matter why, it’s a reference to the Targaryen and Martell shared history and has the same effect. Not so much with Rhaenys because of the wider range of possibilities for why that could have been the chosen name. Without speculating on what the in-universe reason was for her to have that name, I think there are two main impacts this name has as a textual decision:

1. It furthers the already present idea that children are considered part of their father’s family, not their mother’s, regardless of the specifics of their maternal heritage.

2. It adds a little more detail to Rhaegar’s character through raising these questions.

It’s a really interesting writing choice, I think!

Prince Rhaegar decided to give that crown of blue roses to his wife, Elia Martell crowning her as Queen of Love and Beauty. His gesture was well received by everyone and by the family of his wife, he being considered a faithful husband before the figure of his wife.

The conflicts between Rhaegar and his father, Aerys II, grew to be the disinherited prince, which angered the people and they rose up against the Mad King for his tyranny. This led to the execution of some nobles such as Brandon Stark and Tygett Lannister, brother of the Hand of King Tywin Lannister. However, the confrontations did not last long and in the end Aerys II was poisoned by alleged orders from Tywin Lannister in order to crown Prince Rhaegar as King, although it was also speculated that it could have been Rhaegar himself who sent to poison his father.

Rhaegar and Elia became Kings of the Seven Kingdoms, being the monarchs of a new era of the Dragon highlighting their charitable works, the founding of different schools and especially for the rebirth of the dragons in 300 A. C., by the King's sister, Daenerys Targaryen.

The kings always stayed united and Elia was the great adviser of the husband of her, getting even to be the regent of her during the absences of Rhaegar. They also expanded House Targaryen by seeking other commitments for their children and being the grandparents of numerous grandchildren on the part of the children, Rhaenys who married Robb Stark and his son Aegon with Shireen Baratheon.

Elia Martell passed away in 322 A. C., at 65 years of age, her death being very painful for Rhaegar I who ordered to build a tomb in the purest Dornish style where the body of his beloved queen rests. Rhaegar Targaryen would die 3 years later due to heart problems at the age of 66, after having reigned for almost 42 years. The king was cremated and his ashes were placed in the grave of his late queen.

"Move, Piglet!" Jessica, the most popular girl in school, said as she pushes Y/n into the floor. All her books and papers spread around her on the floor.

Jessica and her snobby group of girls laugh and walk on Y/n’s papers, leaving a footprint on it. A tired sigh fell from her lips as she starts picking up her stuff, tears trying to escape from her e/c eyes. People pass by her , murmuring quietly and giggling while looking down at her weak form.

This has been Y/n all life. Being step on, thrown away, bullied, and other cruel things. Jessica and her group had been making Y/n life a living hell since middle school. She tried to ignore and stay positive but nowadays was hard since she was so tired of being the joke of the day in her school.

When Y/n had picked up her stuff, she start her journey back home which she wasn’t very excited to do.

Things at home aren't also good for Y/n. Her dad is every minute of the day drunk. Since her little brother's death, Y/n’s dad had never been the same.

James died from cancer. He was eight years old. When the doctors found out, it was too late. Since then, Y/n’s dad empties all his anger on her when he's drunk, slapping her and saying that she should have been the one to die, not James.

Y/n’s mom just stays there and watch, not saying anything or try to stop her husband from hitting her daughter. She stays her days in James's room, crying while clutching to his favorite teddy bear.

Cleaning a small tear from the corner of her eye, Y/n walks down the street. Heavy, dark clouds begin covering the bright sun and a gush of wind runs through her.

"The weather guy was wrong," she whispers while looking up to the dark sky. "It's going to rain today."

Suddenly, Y/n hears a loud horn. She looks to the side and see massive bright lights coming fast towards her.

A huge truck runs her over. Y/n body falls on the cold ground, with a pool of her own blood beside her. A hiss fell from Y/n’s bruised lips as an awful pain spread through her head and body. She thinks that she may have multiplier bones broke, along with her skull.

Y/n lungs ache when she starts coughing, blood running down her lips. She tries to move her head but it was too painful. Y/n hears screams and the sound of sirens but she knew that it was too late for her. No one could save her from this.

"Your dreams have finally come true....Dad." That was Y/n final words. Her eyelids become heavy and her vision was blurry.

"Poor child."

A deep voice echoed around Y/n. Opening her eyes, Y/n saw nothing but white around her.

Where in the hell am I? She though. Maybe I'm in heaven.

"In your short life, all you knew was pain." the deep voice talked again. She looks around, trying to see to who belongs the voice. "Don't be afraid, Child. I'm not going to hurt you."

"Who are you?" she asked while standing up, noticing that there's no trace of her injuries from the accident. "Where am I?"

There's a deep chuckle in the air which made a shiver run down her spine. "People call me many names," he says. "Many-faced God, The Faceless, The unwanted stranger but you can call me Death." Y/n mouth hangs open as he reveals his tall, slim figure.

He was wearing a black cloak and the only thing she could see, was his pure white hair and his bony hands.

Death?! So, he's real. She thought.

"And you are in my realm. I'm still deciding where I should send you." his voice echoed around her.

"W-What do you mean to where should you send me?" Y/n voice trembles while she looks at him.

"Heaven or Hell." He says with a chuckle. "But of course the best option is Heaven." Y/n sighs in relief with his answer but quickly vanish when he let out a wicked laugh. "Or maybe I have a better place for you, Y/n... There's someone that needs your help. A King. A Conqueror. Son of the Dragon."

Y/n’s head is full of confused thoughts. A King? A Conqueror? Son of the Dragon??!! What the hell he's talking about?

Death raises his long arm and snaps his bony fingers, making a strange bright circle appear in front of the two.

"W-What the hell is this??" She asked in panic, not knowing what Death is talking about. "You are going to send me to Heaven, right?" Tears were running down her cheeks freely, frustration boiling on her blood. "I-I just want to rest... I just want some peace."

He put his bony hand on her shoulder, squeezing gently, trying to comfort her. "Do not worry, Child. I promise that you will find your peace there... in the arms of the King," he says softly, cleaning her tears with his thumb. "Oh! And one more thing....What do you say to Death?"

Y/n whimper while she rubs her eye with her hand. "...Not today..." She whisper.

He chuckles and taps her cheek. "Very good!" he says proudly. "Now, enjoy your new life, Lady Y/n" with that he pushes her into the portal, making her squeal in fear and excitement.

"Aegon! You must do something!" Visenya growled to her brother and also her husband.

Aegon sighs from his seat and rests his chin on his large hand. "What do you want me to do, sister? Mount Balerion, fly to Dorne and drown the city in flames?" he asked his older sister. "I think that option wouldn't work very well."

"But it could work! House Martell is the only house that hadn't bend the knee to you, their King!" she shouted, slapping her hands on the map shape table. "It's the last kingdom that you need to conquer, brother!"

Aegon huffs in annoyance and stood from his seat at the table, walking towards the large windows of the war meeting room in Dragonstone. His violet eyes fixed on the three large dragons flying in the bright blue sky.

The truth is that Aegon is tired of all the wars and death that he and his sisters had caused. He wants a break, a time just for him. To leave all his responsibilities behind and fly free on the back of his beloved dragon, Balerion....but that wasn't an option either.

"Maybe we could negotiate with the Dorne Queen? I could fly there with Meraxes." Rhaenys, his younger sister and wife, said with her beautiful, hopeful smile.

Aegon stayed silent, thinking on the proposal that Rhaenys made. Between his two wives, Rhaenys is the most tender and gentle. She could change the Dorne Queen's ideas and make her bend the knee to the House Targaryen.

Nodding, Aegon looks to his young sister and smiles. "Very well," he says. "Maybe that plan could work but be careful Rhaenys. You never know what could happen in Dorne." He looks back to the sky and frowns as he sees a red comet coming down at a great velocity.

"What in the Gods is that?" he whispers, his violet eyes following the comet, noticing that had fallen in the land beside Rhaenys's Hill. A cloud of smoke hovering the land.

All three dragons roar at the comet fall, making Dragonstone walls shake. Visenya and Rhaenys run quickly to Aegon's side, looking at the huge cloud of smoke on the other side of the sea.

"What's that?" Rhaenys asked.

Aegon turns and walks towards the door, his steps large and heavy. "I don't know but I'm going to check it." With that, Aegon climbed to Balerion's back and flew towards the massive cloud of smoke.

In a Rhaegar wins au where Dany is tptwp how do you think that affects his relationship with her and with his children? Especially if none of his kids are dragon riders?

so this ask has been sitting in my ask box for a while and I’ve been meaning to get around to it but I just saw a post that really irritated me so I’m kind of going to use your ask as a segue to talk about why I think Rhaenys not being a dragon-rider in an AU is a terrible idea unless handled very, very well.

I’ve been active in this fandom for an average/sort of long time (about 5-6 years), and let me say that it is ONLY ever Rhaenys and Aegon (whether you believe he’s real or fake) who are subjected to this ridiculous level of nit-picking over their ‘powers’. The post I saw was contending that Rhaenys could have her Roynish water magic from her ancestors but that she could never wake dragons (or freed slaves but that’s a whole other can of worms) like Daenerys did but that its fine because she has her special Rhoynish magic to fall back on.

Here’s the thing though. At its core that argument is deeply unsound because there’s already a character who will likely have access to powers from ‘both sides of his family’ - Jon Stark! I get that fandom head-canons aren’t fact yet so we don’t know if Jon will be a dragon rider or not but let me just say I have never ONCE seen anyone try to argue in meta that Jon can’t ride a dragon because he’s already a warg and therefore he should simply be content with his Stark powers.

Furthermore, any argument that Daenerys is somehow more special or integral to waking the dragons than Rhaenys is always going to descend into Valyrian eugenics tm because that’s what the whole idea is predicated on.

You can’t make the point that Rhaenys doesn’t have the personality or drive to make similar decisions to Daenerys like you could in a Jon vs Daenerys argument because Rhaenys was murdered far too young for us to make accurate predictions about her nature.

 You can’t make the argument that Rhaenys would never be treated terribly like Daenerys and would be in a better position because of her Dornish connection because:

a) she was treated worse than Daenerys in text. She literally was murdered, and her family couldn’t do anything to seek justice for her. Idk why people think the Martell’s are going to be all-powerful in a situation where the war went down in the exact same way except Rhaenys lived. In fact you could argue that they would be in a far worse position because they’d be more closely monitored and would have to be very very quiet if they were aiding Rhaenys

b) Whether you believe the fake Aegon theory or not the fact is that Illyrio, Varys and Jon Con managed to raise a boy they claimed was Aegon Targaryen for roughly 15 years without the Martells finding out. In a Rhaenys lives AU she could very well end up with Jon Con and Aegon and given the status of women in the story her hand very well could be given away in marriage (Think Calla Blackfyre being married to her half-uncle Aegor Rivers) and it could progress in a similar fashion to what happened to Daenerys and Drogo. Especially since Daenerys didn’t randomly get those eggs – they were given to her by Illyrio.

c) Any statements about how Rhaenys is “too Dornish” to ever wake a dragon are ridiculous given that due to the repeated sibling incest Daenerys herself is ¼ Dornish. According to half these theories Daenerys herself should be too *gasp* non-Valyrian and therefore not special enough herself to wake the dragons.

Everything about a Rhaenys lives AU is purely speculation and I very much hate it when in a series with dragons and magic people draw the line at a brown girl being special in the way their super cool Targaryen faves like Jon and Daenerys are.

And the thing is I hate making arguments like this because they make me sound like a Daenerys anti when I’m not? The core issue in Daenerys’ story is that she’s a strong female character who does make morally questionable choices and therefore is hated by a large chunk of the fandom who are just outright sexist. But also, that Daenerys is a white character in the midst of, let us be frank, mostly flat characters who GRRM didn’t develop further because he decided to lean on racist tropes and this understandably pisses people off. Oh and let’s not forget the ‘Targaryen madness” idea used to argue that Daenerys is doomed to be mentally ill and evil like her father. Daenerys story and her fandom presence is a hodgepodge of sexism, racism, and the stigmatisation of mental illness. Its seriously hard to engage in these debates because it’s hard to untangle the threads. 

Anyways back to your original question. I think Rhaegar would be absolutely crushed that Daenerys was TPWWP instead of Aegon who he believed was the one all along. I don’t characterize Rhaegar as actively malicious (more selfish, stupid, and with a messiah complex) so I think the idea that he plunged Westeros into a continent wide-war for nothing would deeply weigh on him. Throw in the personal element of how much hes destroyed his relationships with his children, and with Elia and Lyanna and I don’t see it getting better.In fact I see Rhaegar as harbouring an enormous amount of guilt about his treatment of all three of his children and it never really resolving itself because i head-canon Rhaegar as not the most emotionally intelligent.

Honestly even in a situation where 1 or more of his children end up as dragon riders I don’t see Rhaegar being too happy because he would have still had the wrong idea all along and made terrible decisions based on those wrong ideas.

Me gustan las dos hermanas, pero puedo decir que Rhaenys me agrado mas. Alegre, juvenil, mas suave y aventurera; mientras que Visenya era la espada de Aegon, Rhaenys era su razón y la ley (o así me gusta pensarlo)

Es una pena que no pudo estar con su hijo (El tenia solo 3 años cuando murió su madre) pero, fue su descendencia la que continuo con la descendencia Targaryen.

Frustrated, she flew to Spear of the Sun to demand the surrender of the Princess of Dorne, Meria Martell. Dorne's Yellow Toad claimed he would not fight them, but he would not kneel "Dorne has no king" either. Rhaenys affirmed that her brother would know it and then "there will be Fire and Blood" ... Little could the princess care.

By A.D. the war was ending, so Rhaenys, Aegon, and Visenya took up residence at Fort Aegon. In 7 A.D., Rhaenys gave birth to the first of Aegon's sons, Aenys. Rhaenys was Aegon's favorite wife; nevertheless, she surrounded herself with young men and there were rumors that she maintained relations with them while Aegon was with Visenya, although, apparently, Aegon spent ten nights with Rhaenys for each one she spent with Visenya. It is his lineage that comprises the bulk of the Targaryen House. During the early years of her brother's reign, Rhaenys often assisted her in her efforts to gain the respect of her vassals and the common people. In addition, she arranged several marriages between distant houses, including the marriage between Lord Ronnel Arryn and a daughter of Lord Torrhen Stark.

In AD 4, Aegon I decided to start another campaign against Dorne. Rhaenys participated in the First Dornian War, flying on the back of Meraxes. She took the first assault on Dorne, taking castles as she approached Spear of the Sun. However, the Dornienses resisted doggedly. When Rhaenys and Aegon finally reached the Spear of the Sun, Princess Meria Martell, as well as most of the others, had fled. With Lord Rosby cast as Castilian of the Spear of the Sun, and Lord Harlen Tyrell assigned to quell the latest revolts, Rhaenys and Aegon returned to King's Landing. When they reached the capital, Dorne rebelled, leading to the deaths of Lord Rosby and Lord Tyrell, who disappeared with their entire army.

The Targaryens returned to Dorne once more with their dragons. The Dornienses achieved their greatest victory when Rhaenys and her dragon Meraxes died in Sotoinferno in AD 10, the dragon being struck by iron arrows fired from a scorpion, causing a fatal fall to both the dragon and its rider.

A short time later, Aegon suspended hostilities after reading a letter that was delivered to her by the daughter of the Prince of Dorne and which, according to sources, Aegon held so tightly while reading it that her hand bled. Rhaenys' body was never returned to King's Landing.

Time later, on the 23 d. C., Aenys would have her first baby and was named Rhaena, in honor of her mother.

I like both sisters, but I can say that I like Rhaenys more. Cheerful, youthful, softer and more adventurous; while Visenya was Aegon's sword, Rhaenys was her reason and law (or so I like to think of it)

It is a pity that she could not be with her son (She was only 3 years old when her mother died) but, it was her descendants who continued with the Targaryen descendants.

Top 5 ships in asoiaf and why? :3

Elia x Arthur. My OTP to end all OTPs. Where to start? Forbidden love, the princess and her knight, pining, childhood loves — this ship has it all and I love it oh so very much. Moreover, it’s completely canon-compliant. (Though that said, I would NOT trust GRRM to write it in an acceptable way, not to mention the R x L fandom would undoubtedly twist it to make their ship look better, so while it is canon-compliant and a hint in the books at it being definitively so would be awesome, I don’t think I want it explicitly canon, if that makes sense.)

Robb x Rhaenys. Another ship that has tropes galore. Bonus, in an AU where the Rebellion went differently, it’s absolutely plausible, and it has the ice and fire symbolism going for it. It’s so good.

Arianne x Daemon. It has a lot of similarities to Elia x Arthur, incidentally, with the added benefit of it being wholly canon. I hope and pray that GRRM doesn’t kill off one or both of them so that they can end up together. They’re so tragic but so compelling — not to mention they hold the rare distinction of being age-appropriate AND thoroughly consensual!

Maekar x Dyanna. Admittedly, this ship relies mostly on headcanons as we know nothing more of Dyanna than her name and that she died fairly young, but I think my headcanons are reasonable. Particularly about them marrying for love: A) they were married when Maekar was at most 17, which is odd since he’s the youngest so there was no reason to marry him off so young (yes, I know that’s of-age in Westeros, but he was the fourth son therefore not dynastically important, so why marry him off so soon?). B) There was already enough of a Dornish coalition at court and plenty of anti-Dornish sentiment, so it would be politically nonsensical to add another marriage into Dorne. And c) despite being widowed at just 23-35 years of age (depending on which year Maekar was born and Dyanna died) and living until he was nearly 60, he never remarried. Which is so interesting!! Because canon shows Maekar as this grumbly, prickly, rigid man — to find out that he was so in love with someone (a Dornish someone, to boot) that he defied convention and the political atmosphere to marry her?? It adds so much to his character.

Rhaella x Doran. Can you imagine??? Rhaella would get a husband who loved her and treated her like she deserved, and she would absolutely thrive in Dorne, the new Daenerys and Maron. It’s not unfeasible either, as they’re roughly the same age, Doran is of appropriately high birth, there’s precedent for Targaryen-Martell marriages, and so on.

         On an archipelago off the coast of Norway, the GREYJOY family runs the Kraken Syndicate, aka the largest smuggling ring in Northern Europe. For three generations they’ve run their business with a tight fist, with interruptions to their “peace” being few and far between. But an Interpol raid a decade ago left their grasp on power tenuous at best. With Balon’s two eldest sons in prison and the youngest taken by child protective services, the remaining members of the family have only become more tight knit. Loyalty and dedication to the family comes above all else.          But other families have taken the opportunity to encroach on their territory, none more so than the London based LANNISTERS and the BOLTONS from Moscow. But competing families aren’t their only worries. Still under police surveillance by Interpol agents STARK and TULLY, the family has to be on constant watch. One wrong step will see the rest of their empire crumbling around them. Then there’s the matter of TARGARYEN Industries which has been eying the islands for years, waiting for the opportunity to expand their buisness ventures. To do that, they’ll need to clear the crime off the archipelago. As if that weren’t enough, the kidnapping of Margaery TYRELL, daughter of the French Prime Minister, has been traced back to the Islands…

Do you think that Rhaegar would've pushed for the continuation of the Targaryen incest tradition w/ regards to Rhaenys/ Aegon had he lived regardless of what Elia though b/c we clearly see he doesn't respect women? Also, do you think that Lewyn was privy to any of Aerys or Rhaegar's plans ie. at least from Arthur Dayne (though he rlly did not seem to care about Dorne) and thus informed Elia?

Maybe. We don’t know much about Rhaegar, but his thoughts on how “the dragon has three heads” and presumed attempt at recreating the conquering trio might suggest that he had that idea in mind. However, Rhaegar was not good at interpreting prophecy, and what he believed to be true shifted a lot throughout his life depending on perceived omens. So it’s also possible that he didn’t believe that Rhaenys and Aegon needed to be married and had other plans for them. Hell, we all know Rhaegar had some messed up thought processes, maybe he would want them to marry other people because of a fear that if Aegon is Azor Ahai, that would make whoever he married Nissa Nissa, and Rhaegar was not down for his daughter being stabbed to death.

I think what might be more meaningful is to consider what he might have done without prophecy thrown in the mix. He didn’t seem to believe in any long term plans, instead thinking that things would work out in his favour because of fate. But given that he’d finally decided near the end of his life that he needed to displace his father, he might have also come to the realization that there are real reasons to marry outward. If, somehow, he had emerged victorious from the war, it would have been a very close call. In that event, even he might have understood how close it was. That might have prompted him to marry Rhaenys and Aegon to other people just to make sure this same thing didn’t happen again. However, I don’t think he’s likely to have been opposed to incest on principle - Egg in The Sworn Sword speaks casually about incest and the possibility of marrying one of his sisters, even though neither his father nor grandfather did such a thing and he was thus two generations removed from a Targaryen wedding brother to sister. For Rhaegar, it would be even more normalized because, in the inverse of what was going on with Egg, it had been two generations since one of his ancestors had married outside the family. Because of this, I think there’s reason to believe he very well might have pushed for Rhaenys and Aegon to wed. Especially because Targaryen incest had some “practical” justifications as well as just the general sense of Valyrian supremacy.

In fandom, we focus a lot on who the best possible marital option for a character is. Best is usually interpreted through the lens of powerful alliances and who has the most money or people. And that’s all well and good in times of war. But in times of peace? Not so much. Alliances can be built in many other ways, and outside of wartime, I suspect it would be better to marry within your own region as a means to avoid resentment. Marrying bannermen is traditional for a reason. While it has its benefits, of course, making an outside choice runs the risk of alienating your own vassals. When it comes to the Targaryens, the incest gives them a way to avoid making any of those choices. By continuing this tradition, they’re in the comfortable situation in which various lords won’t be offended by their daughters not becoming queen - it instead becomes, oh, the Targaryens are just being Targaryens, nothing to be upset about. They can instead reward different lords with land or gold, and thus avoid shifting the balance of power dangerously and avoid the perception of playing favourites by choosing between great houses, which could easily exacerbate tensions. I think we can kind of see that that was a conscious choice from who became queen/queen in waiting - aside from Myriah Martell, who is an exception because of the circumstances of her marriage; Aemma Arryn, who is an exception because of her Targaryen mother; and Elia Martell, who is an exception because of her Targaryen heritage, the non-Targaryen queens and queens in waiting tended to be from lesser houses. Houses Hightower, Penrose, Dondarrion, rather than Tyrells or Baratheons or whatever. So the arguably safest options are marrying relatives or marrying non-paramount houses. I think there’s an argument to be made that Rhaegar could have gone in any direction - great house, incest, or lesser house (in which I’m grouping great houses that no longer have control over the region in question).

It seems generally accepted that Aegon should marry Margaery Tyrell in a situation where his family won the rebellion. There are very real reasons for that - rewarding the loyalists, securing control over the bulk of the food supply in the country, etc.  But that’s viewing every problem as a nail to which the solution is a hammer. There are many other solutions that would achieve that result while also being probably better for the Targaryens in a realm still recovering from war. Like, take the Tarlys. From what we know, Randyll Tarly won the Battle of Ashford, and Mace Tyrell took the credit. So if Rhaenys or Dany - presumably Dany, because she’s at a better age for this match - married Randyll’s heir, they’d have a match that still rewarded the loyalists while not also giving the Tyrells too much power, one that no one could actually object to and that would still benefit the region. Tyrell or Lannister money is certainly useful. But Aerys died with a full treasury. Money wasn’t the problem. And other resources can be secured through arrangements other than marriage to a lord paramount’s children. I don’t think we know enough about Rhaegar and how his mind worked to determine which option he’d choose.

Now that I’ve babbled for that long about Rhaegar and how creepy the Targaryens are, Lewyn! Lewyn is weird because I can’t get a solid grasp on anything about him. How old was he? Just how big was the implied significant age gap between him and the Unnamed Princess? He’s arguably the Kingsguard we know the least about, which is nuts (but at least we know his name, unlike his sister...). We’re told he came to court with Elia and was in Rhaegar’s confidence, right, and that second part stands out to me as kind of weird. It’s not from a particularly reliable source, but if we accept it as true, then Rhaegar trusted him for the same reason he almost certainly didn’t confide in him before abducting Lyanna - he was Elia’s uncle. He would naturally be on Elia’s side and, by extension, Rhaegar’s...up until what even Rhaegar must have recognized was a huge betrayal.

I think it’s very reasonable to believe he and, by extension, Elia would have been privy to some of it. Not all, certainly, but probably enough to draw some accurate conclusions. It wouldn’t have been a big leap, especially because of how we know Rhaegar told Elia how he thought the dragon needed three heads. That knowledge could have come from Arthur, but it’s hard to say when we know nothing about Arthur’s relationship with Dorne.

...I’m just realizing how many of my answers are long winded rants that boil down to “I don’t know”. Sorry. 😂
