Chapter 2: A Thousand Questions
A new case came in a few hours after Reid and JJ left for the airport. As Matt, Tara, Alvez, and Rossi filed into the conference room they couldn’t help but notice that two of their teammates were conspicuously missing.
“Ok, now that everybody’s here, let’s get started,” Emily said.
“Wait a minute, we’re not all here.” Tara pointed out.
“Yeah, she’s right.” Matt agreed. “Where are Reid and JJ?”
“They won’t be joining us. Reid was just notified of the death of an old friend, also the fact that this friend gave birth shortly before her death. It’s a long story and I promise I’ll explain everything to you guys later but right now, we need to get started.”
“First the fiasco a few years ago, then he was abducted and almost sacrificed by a cult, now this…” Tata said.
“Yeah… that’s why I sent JJ with him. I didn’t think it was a good idea for him to go alone. That’s said, it’s important that the rest of us hold down the fort while they’re gone, so let’s get started.”
Sensing that was her cue, Garcia grabbed the remote, stood, and began the briefing.
“Alright my pretties, this time you’re jetting to Beatty Nevada. It’s a smaller city about two hours northwest of Las Vegas. In the last two weeks, three women, all with dark hair in their early twenties to mid-thirties, were found. They were all stripped naked, bound, strangled, severely beaten, and sexually assaulted. They were all dumped on side streets or in allies, basically lightly traveled public places. It’s still pretty early out there so the latest victim was only found a half hour ago.”
“And as soon as they were sure she was connected to the others, they called us,” Emily added.
“Right off the bat, it’s pretty obvious we’re looking for a male offender. Men get off on this kind of violence, women don’t.” Tara said.
“He could’ve chopped them up and/or buried them, even just dumped them in more isolated areas. It wouldn’t be hard in a city surrounded by desert, but he chose not to. It’s important to him that they’re found quickly, and in as compromising a state as possible. He’s getting off, not just on the violence, but on humiliating these women” Rossi theorized.
“And once and Unsub like this gets started, it only gets worse. Wheels up in twenty.”
                                                         ***
Meanwhile, JJ and Reid were in the air, flying to Las Vegas. Reid was sitting by the window, JJ was in the seat to his right. She watched as he stared hopelessly out the window. JJ could only imagine what must be running through his mind.
“Spence, it’s gonna be ok.” She said.
“How JJ? How, when we don’t even know how Becca died?” He asked.
JJ couldn’t think of what to say, so she just looked at him, trying to appear reassuring. Finally, she asked: “How close were the two of you?”
“We were best friends, she was pretty much the best friend I ever had outside of our team. What I don’t understand is why she never told me she was in trouble you know? The social worker said that based on the letter, Becca knew she was dying, but I talked to her the night before. She seemed fine. She didn’t mention anything about being in trouble, or that she’d just had a baby. I had no idea she was even pregnant. Now all of a sudden, when it’s already too late to help her, she asks me to raise her daughter? None of this makes sense.”
“Well, I don’t know her, but I do know you. The fact that she chose you to adopt her baby, Spence, mothers, especially mothers of newborns, she’s trusting you with the one thing, the one person she loved more than life itself. She asked you to do this for her, for a reason. So I have to believe that whatever was going on, there’s a reason she didn’t want you to know but it wasn’t that she didn’t trust you.”
“I just… I need to know what happened, and I need to make sure that nothing happens to Becca’s daughter.” He replied
Just like that, his mind drifted back to the last time he’d seen her.
 3 years earlier
When Spencer walked into the dimly lit dining room of Thompson’s Restaurant Grill, it looked empty at first. The sign on the door had said open but there didn’t seem to be anyone there.
 “Hello? Becca?” He called out.
Suddenly, Becca popped out from beneath the bar. She was wearing a red tank top with a black, sleeveless leather vest over it. Her black hair was cut at shoulder-length and heavily layered, and her blue eyes were framed by thick black eyeliner. She had a glass in one hand, and a dishtowel in the other.
“Well, if it isn’t one of my favorite people.” She said with a smile. She walked out from behind the bar and wrapped him in a tight embrace. “Where have you been? It’s been forever! We miss you around here…” she told him as she squeezed before letting him go.
“Becca, I’m pretty sure you’re the only one who still lives here who actually misses me.” He replied.
“Dude, if I’m your only friend, that’s just sad. I don’t say that to insult you, I mean if that’s true, then that just proves what I’ve thought for years, that ninety-five percent of the human race sucks.”
He chuckled. “You might be right about Las Vegas, but fortunately you’re far from my only friend.”
“Good. I was about to ask you whose butts I need to kick.” She said as she set the glass down on the counter with a thud. “So what brings you back to town anyway? Your mom?”
“Yeah, actually I’m in the process of moving her to a different facility. I came down to get the rest of her stuff. I thought I’d come say ‘hi’, before I left town.”
“Well, I’m glad you did, want something to eat?”
 “Sure.”
 “Let me guess, the usual?”
 “How’d you know that?”
“Spencer, I’ve known you since I was four. You’ve ordered the exact same meal every single time you’ve come in here for the last twenty years. You, my friend, are a creature of habit if there ever was one. The only variation is whether you want a soda or something with alcohol.”
 “How about water?” He asked.
“Really? Are you changing things around just to disprove my theory?”
 “…Maybe…”
She smiled. “Alright, coming right up, do want an orange slice?”
 “Isn’t it usually lemon?”
“Not here. My house, my rules, and the first rule is…” she paused for dramatic effect, “weirdness is a good thing.”
He smiled.“Alright then. Yes, put an orange in it.”
“Way ahead of you.” She replied, filling a tall glass with ice water and getting an orange out of the cooler to her left. Before slicing it she turned to the kitchen door behind her, opened it a crack, and yelled into the kitchen. “Hey Pop, I need a turkey club with fries, extra sauce no cheese.” Then she finished what she was doing and handed Spencer his water.
“So, how’s everything going?” He asked.
“Great, I’m teaching graphic design as an adjunct professor at Alta. I only still moonlight here to help Pop out, since Mama can’t.”
“That’s great!” he exclaimed. “I know you loved it when you were a student there.”
“I did indeed.” She said. “Don’t think I don’t know the real reason you’re asking Spencer. It’s better now that I have my own place. I’m only here about twenty hours a week, almost all of which is spent down here and not up in our old apartment so, I hardly ever see her these days.”
“You just told me that things are great, but you just said that like it’s a bad thing.” He pointed out.
She sighed. “I guess, if I’m honest with myself, I kinda feel guilty about how much happier I am not being here as much.”
                                                    Present Day
“Spence? You ok?” JJ asked, drawing him back to the present.
 “Y-heah, I’m fine. W-why do you ask?”
“You’ve been staring into space for the last half hour like you were somewhere else. What were you thinking about?”
“The last time I saw her. It was when I was moving my mom from Bennington to Houston. I went to look for her at her family’s restaurant. Even after she graduated from college, she still worked there part time helping her dad out. She was there, we talked, I had dinner. She seemed fine, happier than I’d ever seen her. Actually, it was like the life she wanted was finally coming together. Now I’m just wondering what changed.” He said, glancing over to meet JJ’s eye.
She knew that look. Help me understand.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“I mean, she’s fine, her career’s finally headed where she’s always wanted it to go, she’s cut almost all ties with her abusive mother and then…this… Even with the letter, social services wouldn’t have even notified me about the baby if they knew who the father was, so she either didn’t know herself, or doesn’t want him in daughter’s her life for some reason. I’m guessing it’s the latter. Becca was… a little rough around the edges but sleeping with and getting pregnant by someone she didn’t know just doesn’t fit. Then she gives birth, immediately abandons her child, and dies suddenly of no apparent cause on the steps of a church? None of it makes any sense to me.”
“I asked Garcia to look into the last few years of your friend’s life so we can try to figure out what happened to her,” JJ told him. “We should have some answers by the time we land.”
“Thanks for coming with me JJ.” He said.
 “Of course.”
 “Really…I… I don’t know how I’d get through this without you…”
“I’m right here Spence. Whatever happens, I’m always on your side.”
“You’re the best.” He replied, smiling for the first time since hearing the news.
“So, you think she knew who the baby’s father is?” JJ asked.
“Yes. Which means there must be another reason why social service can’t find him, I don’t think she wanted whoever he is to know about the baby.”

2017 Travelers Championship Round 2: Tee times, TV schedule, and live stream for Friday
The Travelers begins early Friday morning with Jordan Spieth in the lead.
Brooks Koepka is taking a well-earned week off after earning his first major title by running away to a record-tying finish at the 2017 U.S. Open. He isn’t the only big name to pass on this year’s Travelers Championship.
This year’s tournament is sparse on top-10 golfers, as players like Dustin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama, Sergio Garcia, and Henrik Stenson will all join Koepka on the “regretfully declines” side of the Travelers RSVP. That leaves just a handful of elite linksmen in Hartford — and a tremendous opportunity for one of the game’s rising stars to make his mark with a headline-making win.
That’s what happened to Russell Knox last summer. The 32-year-old Scot earned his second PGA Tour title by holding off Jerry Kelly with a one-stroke victory. That win was part of a career year for Knox, who also notched personal best finishes at the U.S. Open, British Open, and PGA Championship in 2016.
However, 2017 hasn’t been as kind. Knox failed to make the cut at each of this year’s majors. He’ll use this weekend’s opportunity to retain his title — as part of PGA Tour Live’s featured group — as a chance to get back on track and regain his spot as one of the world’s top golfers.
Jim Furyk will also try to reclaim some 2016 magic at the the TPC at River Highlands. The veteran golfer didn’t look like a 46-year-old on the course last summer, carding a PGA-record 58 to finish out his tournament and earn a spot in the event’s top five. Furyk is coming off a solid three-under performance at the Open, and his past mastery of the course could make him a steady favorite in the championship rounds.
Furyk and Knox will have to fight through a field that may lack the prestige of a major, but still carries plenty of recognizable names. Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Jason Day will all try to boost their top-10 rankings with big performances in Connecticut. Other headliners like Brandt Snedeker, Bubba Watson, and Patrick Reed will be in attendance as well.
Here’s how you can follow all of Friday’s action from the 2017 Travelers Championship.

WHAT TAROT CARD ARE YOU?
tagged by: @gendameron, thank you!! xoxo tagging (just for fun, no obligations): @aceofwonders @darlingicarus @cityandking @solasan @derelict-heirs @carminasolis @ice-knife @sparksfromthefire @regina-cordium & anyone else who would like to give it a go!

justice.
What would you do to ensure justice? You know full well I don’t speak of lofty ideals and courts and magistrates, dearest. What would you do to those that hurt you? If I dropped them in your lap, what would you do? What kind of pain could you possibly inflict upon them? You are right to do so. You are right to want to do so. Ignore the screaming, dearest, you are the hand of justice now, and they hurt you. Do not look too closely at their faces, dearest. You are within your rights. You spell out your own rights, now. Are you happy about it? Are you certain that this is the right person you hold by the hair? Does your anger hurt less now?
Tumblr media
the empress.
You are only independent insofar as you have others to care for. This makes you dependent in your independence. They want your knowledge, your skills, your talents, your affection. What can they give in return? “Teeth” is not an acceptable answer, nor is “keeping the shadows to the corners”, nor is “glory”, nor is “love”. There is no acceptable answer, no gift of a magnitude which can match the thing you know, which is that they are taking from you. They are stealing from you. You should stop them from doing that, darling. You only have so much to give. You are not infinite, and when they have taken their last they will remind you of that. My advice is this: give enough to keep them at bay, but be careful. Their teeth can turn on you too. There is no easier way to make an animal dangerous than by feeding it.
Tumblr media
death.
A cheery woman’s voice chimes from above. "Game over! Please restart and try again." The old woman holds a baby in her arms and makes to pass it to you. Will you take it?

i have the horror genre brainrot and have been playing dead by daylight nonstop lately, so here’s a bunch of fun concepts for a few ocs as survivors. for elide and maeve i like to imagine they were plucked from their fantasy worlds~ just because it brings to mind some funny imagery while putting them next to regular ass modern folk. (tagging @carminasolis bc of the recent ask you sent! here are half of the requested thoughts 😂)
ELIDE.
perk #1 — perpetual calculations. you always think multiple steps ahead, preparing for success and failure alike. for each successful great skill check you gain a token, storing a total of 3/4/5 per trial. when you fail a skill check you expend one of your tokens, granting you the chance to immediately attempt the skill check once more with a 15%/20%/25% better chance at success. only one token can be expended per failed skill check.
perk #2 — trick shot. you've scrounged for materials over the course of your last few trials, giving you enough to craft a single shot for the arbiter (the scattergun elide invented in andaria). once per trial you can activate the second ability button while standing still, pulling out the arbiter and taking aim. you can shoot at a range of up to 8/12/16 meters, stunning the killer for 4 seconds if you successfully hit them.
perk #3 — rapid repair. you know how to quickly fix damaged machinery. you can see the auras of incomplete generators within a 8/16/24meter range. you gain a 8%/10%/12% bonus to repair speed while repairing generators below 60% progress.
outfits — would probably be her outfits from this art line-up! syllerian would be the default, casual a rare and orothelli the very rare. another very rare could be one of her modern outfits. a deep green teddy bodysuit under a pair of tight-fitting black jeans and a red cardigan. half-up crown braid styled hair.
MAEVE.
perk #1 — damsel in distress. physical fights aren't your strong suit, but you have faith that your friends will always come to your aid. other survivors gain 10%/15%/20% speed while healing and rescuing you from a hook. when a survivor takes a protection hit for you while you're being chased, you both gain a 7% haste status effect for 4/5/6 seconds.
perk #2 — historical accounts. from the grim journals of maeve sommers, you recognize the details of your next trial’s setting. at the start of the trial, auras of generators, chests, hooks and totems are revealed to all survivors for 8/10/12 seconds within a 32 meter range.
perk #3 — the bard's muse. there's nothing wrong with a bit of idolization every once in a while. at the start of the trial, one other survivor is chosen at random to be your muse. the aura of your muse is revealed to you when you are within 8/16/24 meters of them. while your muse’s aura is revealed to you, they gain 8%/10%/12% action speed while repairing generators, unhooking survivors and healing.
default outfit — her outfit in the art here! prolly with pink and blue recolor options uwu
rare outfit — prolly a cute and more casual outfit, something she’d be found wearing at her estate. a dark purple long-sleeved top with ruffles around the edges and a floor-length black ruffled skirt to match, then a corset over the top which has flowers embroidered on it purely for the aesthetic bc who needs function. honestly could look good in a roughed up state.
very rare outfit — mayhaps just a modern maeve outfit bc why not. hair in half-up space buns. a lace heavy shirt worn underneath a flower patterned elbow length button-up, both tucked into a pair of light jeans. bi pride patch stitched onto one of the back pockets and wearing a bunch of jewelry plus pink heart-shaped glasses.
SPENCER.
perk #1 — seeker’s study. your deductive and perceptive skills can aid your allies. perks that allow you to reveal the aura of the killer last 3/4/6 seconds longer. whenever you reveal the killer’s aura, other survivors within range can also see their aura.
perk #2 — rogue’s evasion. outrunning dangers seems to be a family inherited trait. gain a token for each successful pallet stun and rushed vault while being chased, up to a maximum of 3/5/7 tokens. for each token you gain a 1% haste effect while being chased by the killer. being put into the dying state or being hooked removes all tokens.
perk #3 — cosmic resistance. you are less afraid of the eldritch and arcane after accepting the harsh truths of the universe. killer perks effects that affect you within their terror radius are reduced by 8%/12%/18%. you recover from status and passive effects 4%/7%/10% faster and reduce the remaining duration of exhaustion by 6/8/10 seconds when you escape a chase.
default outfit — a denim jacket worn over a stripe patterned t-shirt, accompanied by dark blue jean leggings and a messenger bag slung across her shoulder. variants change the pattern of her shirt and shade of her jacket/pants. loose hair.
rare skin — a knee-length brown, wool double-breasted trench coat worn over a green sweater and light blue pair of jeans. her hair is up in a messy bun.
very rare skin — mandy thompson morph (like the stranger things/resident evil specials). she wears a yellow tweed jacket over top a dark brown shirt with a belt around her middle, with a below-the-knee box-pleated red skirt and plain dark knee stockings underneath. her glasses and pearl necklace are pristine baybee.
map — velma’s diner in arkham city, though from way back when in the 1930s~ when eldritch cult activity was at its peak in the city and investigators needed a space to relax and grab some food. and then, y’know, make it extremely fucked up. kind of as if the old cult had succeeded in summoning a great one and the city got screwed as a result, the entity pulled that universe’s version of it. the main building is the diner which has broken windows, doors and walls opened as vaults. the inside has a load of retro decorations and electronics, and in some places amidst all the random clutter there can be seen notes and gear of investigators that were still working to fight the good fight. the long countertop and rearranged barricades made out of the tables/booths are your classic loops. the outside is the parking lot and a small bit of the forest behind the diner, a killer’s shack replacing what was probably a utility shack of some kind just a small bit off to the side of the diner, and a road that you can cross. the other side has a handful of storefronts with signs so dilapidated that you can’t make out what they once were, but who cares bc there’s probably some generator spawns there.
killer — leader of the cult of atlach-nacha, aka the cult spencer was working against in her home realm. a humanoid man that has started to morph from his time spent devoted to and communicating with eldritch beings, able to call upon their powers for his machinations. probably that classic of having one tentacle-eqsue growth on one arm that has overtaken half the chest, making him a bit lopsided in stature but incredibly strong with that arm. not too sure about his ability. could be a case of calling on the power of the eldritch “deity” he worships to summon a tangible circle of the cosmos in a certain radius, triggering a countdown that leads to the survivors being confronted with the absolute horrors of reality and becoming afflicted by manifestations of that deity which could slow/injure them. ways to rid themselves of the effects could perhaps be reading one of mandy’s journals that are scattered throughout the map because her sensible, clinical ass notes can clear the mind lmao. i DO know that it’d be dope to have a perk  about conflicting loyalties, where he can displease his eldritch deity by instead working with the entity to alter smth in the trial. i don’t know what but it sounds cool from a character perspective.
i don’t know exactly Why it would have happened, but i know the When of spencer and the cult leader being brought into the entity’s realm would have been right in the middle of spencer and her friends attempting to disrupt the cult’s big ritual. two of the biggest players on that board being yoinked would have been really sucky so who knows what happened after that (i mean, i do. in this fake scenario her friends would have 100% won because she has really skilled allies lol)

SPENCER THOMPSON THE SLEUTH.
i’ve reached the point of being so in love with arkham horror that i’ve made an oc for it, and now she has her own investigator set because i decided to indulge myself for once with ultimate dork content. larger versions of her signature cards below the cut because the text is a little tiny in the set above.

new daughter just dropped 🔍
obligatory pinterest vibes
spencer thompson is the great granddaughter of the canonical arkham horror seeker, mandy thompson. 24 years old / bisexual / seeker class just like her ancestor / resides in a modern arkham (?? presumably, because it’s fun)
she’s still very much early in development overall but; first contact with the mythos shit came when she was going through her relative’s things in storage and found some of her great grandmother’s old research on a cult and an item or two tucked away. she was immediately hooked into the mystery and spent a full day and night poring through all of mandy’s understandable writings, memorizing passages and taking occasional notes herself.
has resistance to the whole “going mad from being insignicant in the universe” effects because she already understands that, she accepted that fact when she was like 12 years old
can, will, and Has gotten into some tough situations and trouble for how far she’s willing to go for answers to whatever her current focus/obsession is. just like mandy before her, spencer Will climb through that open back window to scour a place for information. unlike mandy, her secondary focus leans more towards a roguish or fighter-y style instead of mystical, she'd prefer a handheld weapon over a magic spell any day.
has gone through 2-3 relationships because she has a Problem she won’t stop Obsessing over her ridiculous goals and investigations or whatever 🙄🙄 she has her handful of friends but y’know sometimes you gotta question if spence is doing alright after she’s texted the group chat at 11:38pm with “i think i found a ritual site used by cultists at least two decades ago”
i don’t have anything further except that i already think she deserves a motw/arcane falls verse where she can be friends with daphne & lucinda and join them for spooky events

things mandy would approve of seeing spencer do while spectating from the afterlife:
breaking into a building to continue her investigating (bonus points if it's not an already abandoned building)
outright rejecting the idea of going to the police with anything to do with the arcane/supernatural
staying up until 3am poring through books and papers to memorize/learn information
using that fancy new age laptop to create any and every kind of schedule/list/calendar because organization is important
straight up Screaming in a ghoul’s face the first time because it was funny but mostly because it was followed up by her brilliantly using her surroundings to fight the thing
things mandy would NOT approve of seeing spencer do while spectating from the afterlife:
the buying of dozens of books that she never reads it’s a terrible habit and waste of money please stop this
the excessive sticky note usage
getting distracted ogling hot people when there’s research to be done

🍁 how would you rank your OCs from thottiest to least thotty?
first of all, i love this question it’s hilarious and fun. second, thank you v much for the fun kndasknh // send 🍁 + any question you’ve been curious to know about my muse!
maeve is and always will be the queen thot, as is her right. she’s slutted it up for years to earn this title and isn’t about to stop anytime soon because she’s having a blast. how can you top (ha) a woman that beds multiple witchers, multiple times, and still actively has them wrapped around her finger. you simply cannot
elide is second because she has an easier time beating away her horny thoughts but she’s still pretty nasty. could use jesus, as the kids say, but she clearly doesn’t get that contact when we know there’s a world where she ends up with 9 damn kids
greer had numerous flings back while stuck in the circle and then got it on multiple times with thom in skyhold’s open barn. don’t think i need to say much more than that
jorina is a funny case because she presents herself as one of The least thotty people you’d ever meet but she’s actually a freak if you look into some of the things she does with aleksi lmfao
meredith didn’t mind getting it on in a tent knowing full well that anyone awake could hear. freak :// not above dressing up to catch her lover’s eye even tho she has a certain amount of decorum to maintain
emma isn’t over the top about anything but the merigolds are freaks, that’s canon fact. used to have makeout sessions in the estate gardens & like. her first time with laurie was at another team’s house while they were all away, that’s nasty get help
mila is a big step down in thot levels, there isn’t really a bridge between her and emma. this lady thinks it’s spicy just to wear a partner’s clothes after a hook-up, nothing wild here lmao
spencer goes here just because she does have hook-ups but also she’s more focused on detective work and occult research, she doesn’t have time to focus on being thotty
lysandra’s only thot energy comes from the fact that she’s slept with ilya and that man is maeve’s soulmate for a reason. it’s the residual energy, it lingers a while even after they’ve called any sexual intimacy off
elena is going here just because i don’t know where else she’d go, her thot levels are extremely low but she’s still hot, very popular and has sexy divine powers which puts her above the medium in a spooky town lmfao (tho the thotty energy could bump up depending on a partner, who knows)
lucinda can do the deed but she has The lowest thot energy of them all. kind of a major turnoff hearing her talk about the ghosts she’s seen over the weekend tbh. i don’t think she’s ever had an outfit showing cleavage and that’s saying something for being one of My characters
jaime’s off the list because he’s babey <3 (but he wouldn’t grow into thot energy anyway)

A17, A20, E2, F9 for maeve, jorina and spencer!
thank youuuu alana!! 🥰 // big ol' honkin oc question list
A17. What’s one of your OC’s proudest moments of themselves?
MAEVE — i could list so many!!! the time she survived drinking a witcher’s potion! when her first collection was published! when she took back the sommers estate and made it her own! her first successful assist in combat against a monster with her longbow! that time she didn’t tap out immediately after round one during her first threesome with two witchers! all great times (i truly would have issues picking just one instance to ramble about so random ones and a goof it is) ((actually you know what i take back the goof part because the last one is something she Should be proud of, i don’t know how she actually lasts with multiple witcher partners she’s wild))
JORINA — i think THE proudest of herself that she’s ever had to have been was when leliana promoted her. i don’t know what she got promoted to exactly (either same job as scout harding or just below her), but i do know that it would have felt like the culmination of all the years she had spent learning, training, and pushing herself with work to get to that point of feeling so thoroughly Accomplished and Recognized. it’s one thing to hear a “good work” every now and then, but another thing entirely to be vindicated for her hard work by elevating her position within the inquisition that she’d dedicated herself to.
SPENCER — like with most things about spencer, i don’t know exactly how it went down yet but i’m sure one of her proudest moments is going to be when she puts the pieces together and figures out how to locate and then rescue her great grandmother from the collapsed dimension she’d been stranded in seven decades ago. i personally struggle to think of something more exhilarating and fucking batshit crazy than being the one to solve a 70 year old magical ass mystery lmfao
A20. Are they harsh on themselves?
MAEVE — for a good while there, yeah. i think it would have started to clear up a couple of years after she'd started her career as a bard, when she's had numerous successes and has garnered herself a bunch of supportive and kind friends/loved ones that help her see that she has no reason to be so hard on herself. she had so much negativity and doubt piled onto her by her parents and carden that it was difficult for her to be gentle with herself at times, but that changes Drastically in the years that follow because boy howdy does she get spoiled with so much love, care and support that changes her views. she’s so kind and patient with others that it was bound to rub off on how she treated herself at some point, especially with the help.
JORINA — oh big time. yup. absolutely. jorina was basically the sole caretaker/breadwinner of her family back in denerim and that led to her becoming Very harsh to herself when she'd fuck something up or forget something, because if SHE wasn't on top of these things then they wouldn't get done and then the whole family would crumble (y’know, even further than they already had lmfao). she's her biggest critic and remains that way for a long time, maybe starts to ease out if it nearing that final battle with corypheus because she has the influence and support of aleksi, their friends, and some kind allies in the inquisition. probably a visit or two to the family as well that helped boost her confidence with some kind words from them.
SPENCER — i’d think so, yeah. she’s a ridiculously intelligent and talented girl, if she messes something up she can get pretty in her head about it for a while. instead of sulking about it though, she likes to dig her heels in and figure out how best to improve in whatever department she just berated herself for being terrible in. she wants to constantly be learning as much as she can, and that holds over into territory like this where she can improve upon things even if she was pretty mean to herself about it.
E2. Which of the nine types of intelligence is your OC strongest in? Weakest? (Linguistic, existential, naturalist, et cetera)
MAEVE — tie between interpersonal and linguistic for strongest, i’d say. maybe existential for weakest?? i don’t really know
JORINA — logical-mathematical or bodily-kinesthetic for strongest, intra-personal for weakest.
SPENCER — logical-mathematical for strongest and naturalist for weakest.
F9. Are they homebodies and enjoy being home?
MAEVE — absolutely LOVES being at home. she travels often for adventure and work purposes, but i've always imagined that maeve takes breaks between all of that moving around to vibe at home. she needs the time to Rest because it can be hard on a lady keeping up with witchers for extended periods of time, plus she just enjoys time at home. she gets to read and write, experiment with hobbies, host dinners for friends and loved ones, have her lovers stay for as long as they like without worry of needing to get back on the move, etc etc. she probably spends a Good amount of money on furnishing her home with comfort and activity items so it’s pretty easy to lose track of time spent at maeve’s place
JORINA — she's a funny case for this one because i think she's been all over the place with this kind of thing. for years before leaving denerim to work she wanted very badly on a few occasions to ditch home, she'd been working her ass off non-stop and was exhausted from all of the efforts, on top of her siblings’ growing attitudes with her and their father just Not being reliable most days of the week. smashcut to skyhold days and it's different. she's found another home there (mostly with aleksi, but we been knew) and finally she gets to feel happy and comfortable "at home" again, something she'd been missing since her mother passed. i imagine whenever she and aleksi decide to get a place of their own after the exalted council that she becomes more of a homebody, even if she still loves to go out and adventure!! sometimes she just wants to sit at home. let her read some books and drink tea for a few nights, responsibilities go the heck away.
SPENCER — she spends a Lot of time away from home, but i don’t imagine she has anything against it. she probably quite likes being at home where she can rest and work from the comfort of her own bedroom, but she’ll often end up having to bounce to chase after something important. i don’t have her family fleshed out but i’m gonna just vibecheck here that she has a parent who is a REALLY good cook and that contributes to her loving being home for daily meals, possibly some extra enjoyment from playing games with family?? who knows, we’ll see

i do think one of the funniest possible concepts for spencer and whoever her clue gang consists of is the idea that one of the others is another og investigator descendent. just for the moment of spencer revealing a huge conspiracy board that she spent literally all night working on, and then one of her friends sitting across at a table a few feet away blurting “why the hell is MY great grandmother up there?” because they haven’t heard a word of this. which spencer quickly dismisses with “because i found their name in mandy’s first journal. so-”
