A lot of folks seemed to miss this theme entirely. 💁🏽♀️☕

Fledging day. Fledging is the moment a baby bird leaves the nest and tries to fly independently.
Ginny, this girl here, made a ruckus before as she didn’t want to ride on a horse after an accident. Theo helped her to overcome the fear. She did. It was a success.
The same day Doll needed fresh blood to revive her and left Snake and Finny alone. Later the caretakers then announced that Ginny is going to celebrate her Fledging Day.
Much to the surprise of Artie and Oliver. Artie is distraught especially.
This is so ominous. I wonder if the most talented of the breeds Theo, Artie, and Oliver knew the deal of the orphanage.
Is the Fledging Day synonymous to sacrifice?

Black Butler Chapter 197
Finny and Snake sit in on a Collie class when they hear that one of the Corgis will have their “fledging day”—but not all the kids seem pleased by the news…
The official English translation for the new chapter will be out on Feb, 20.

I think Sebastian would be endeared to Artie aka his mini-me because he’s a narcissist and Artie is a reflection of himself, and he respects servants that are competent like Agni.
Seb: See young master why can’t you be more like Artie? 😌
Artie: 😌
O!Ciel: I hate you. Both of you.

My current reaction to the chapter. Am I the only one who felt a bit uncomfortable with the whole force-young-boys-to-dress-in-short-skirts-and-look-like-nuns-thing?
Like, firstly, the whole speech by Artie was WAYYY anachronistic, so I think that should've been toned down a bit (we're still in 1889, right?).
And secondly - yes, fair, I'm fine with this orphanage teaching boys how to cook, sew, etc., all VERY important skills - but can we just let these boys dress how they want (which I highly doubt is frilly miniskirts and nun headdresses)?
Like, there was a weird loli quality / hazing kind of feel to the whole scene that just...didn't need to be there and totally distracted from the important punch line at the end.
I dunno...it just...annoyed me.
Also, I'm ready to move to the hotel with Sebastian & Ciel, as these side stories are getting quite draggy...
