The City Nord office district in Hamburg was one of the largest and most ambitious urban planning projects in Europe during its design in the 1950s and 60s, and is now a protected ensemble. Andreas Gehrke's photographs depict distinctive building complexes, some of which no longer exist.

The exhibition includes current and previously unpublished works from his archive. It explores a temporal dimension that addresses Gehrke's personal photographic development, as well as raises questions about the stylistic, functional, and material half-life of architecture.

Gehrke's images pay homage to these buildings, but also point to the signs of the times that confront architecture's continuity and self-reference with experiences of change, reuse, and shifting meanings.
