Six Recent Favorite Songs

I was tagged by @ba0shanblack for this tag-game about my six recent favorite songs (original post here). First things first, thank you for tagging me ♥ (and sorry for the late reply!). I’m tagging @fantasique  @thepairsblog  @invisibletripwire, but don’t feel pressured to do it if you don’t want to!  Also, anyone reading this can freely join us too.

Now back to topic, I’m not updated with the latest music releases nor i’ve been in the mood to explore new artists. Most of the ‘new’ songs i've heard during the last 10-12 months have been an accidental encounter on my part and i’ve let go of many of them in the span of a limited time due to my shifting moods. Some of them stayed with me for more and i still listen to them occasionally, some others almost made it on this short list (i’m looking at you Wishes by Jamie Miller and Why Don't You Stay by Jeff Satur ♥), but eventually only a few could be named here.

The songs below have somehow been stuck in my head since the first time i’ve heard them until now, leaving some kind of trace on my soul while speaking to me in their own way. In the past months i’ve found myself listening to them repeatedly on different occasions, the reasons being mostly linked to the sense of acknowledgment, reassurance and reminiscence they have given me to some degree when i needed to recollect myself and put everything into a new prospective. They are not healing songs per se tho, they just worked for me.

My six recent favourite songs, the most meaningful ones to me right now, are (from oldest to newest):

The only track i have to include here despite the 6 places being already taken is Runaway by EXO. It is a favourite of mine since its relase in June 2021 so in no way it is a ‘recent’ fave, but I’ve been listening to this song almost nostop these days: it just feels right to the current me, i guess.

Precognition in Worm is interesting to me for a singular reason. It can be wrong.

Glimpsing the future as a Parahuman isn't an actual vision of what is to come. It's a simulation of what can happen. Which is why Precogs can mess with each other's visions, rendering them entirely inaccurate.

As such, even the Simurgh isn't 100% accurate. Her plans work along assumptions of how people will act by viewing their entire self and twisting their thoughts with her scream. But it some deviates from their typical actions, if they grow as a person or have second thoughts then they break from her plans and stop being a Simurgh bomb.

The Travelers are a perfect example of this. Especially since the only character who actually shows this in story is Cody.

Krouse, for example, is a selfish, pragmatic person. He will do what's necessary for himself and what he cares for. And if something requires a selfless act, like giving Noelle mercy when there's no saving her, when her personality is visibly dying in the face of what she's becoming, he'll betray everyone and everything to suit his interests.

And Cody is someone driven by revenge and pettiness. Always wanting to fuck with Krouse for replacing him, even if it's a drastically stupid idea like making Noelle clone him. So when he goes against the pursuit of revenge and spares Lisa's life rather than killing her like he was going to, choosing to go on living and find the girl he likes in the Yangban, he changes his character and breaks from the Simurgh's plot.

Precogs in Worm are powerful, but they're aren't always right.
