WHAT A YEAR. Wow. 684,938 words published on AO3!!! (I’d say about 50k of that wasn’t actually written this year and is instead from WIP’s that started from previous years, but that still leaves me with a solid 600k words. which. geez.)
Last year was at 400k, and my goal for this year was to stay around that area, not PASS IT BY 200K. I’m not expecting this to happen again, so I hope everyone was happy with this lmao.

I have been asked by at least 9 members of your heaven spiritually team to only share information pertaining to any of your past earth lifetimes, present earth lifetime andor future earth lifetimes for at least the next 3 months for reasons you are to understand after you transition from this earth realm. As your future higher self I can see that you know to appreciate your current job and see the blessings of your customers, coworkers, and leaders. However, you are also humble to the fact that your job is subject to indirectly changing if your current management moves on to other careers plus you are understandably pondering what you can do to make yourself more competitive for a year round job as you miss having year round employment opportunities that came so effortlessly to you when you were easily making an income of over 3 grand after taxes and even as recently as 3 years ago. As your future higher self all I can do is tell you to forgive yourself for wishing you could have made yourself more competitive for the year round job attached to your current company that you tried to get less than two months ago. All I can tell you as your future higher self is that you are correct to follow your intuition and carefully and wisely choose and discreetly plan by July 1, 2018 andor sooner where you are going to reside for the rest of your lifetime and what career plan you can craft that would set you up to be employed in a similar career field at age 76. As you can intuitively tell there are positive patterns to be emulated of men and women who have found their long term career path by their 40s andor sooner and have also decided on a long term place of residence as having a long term year round career that a person can do for life and a long term place of residence can accelerate one’s creative evolution, wisdom, and even their wit and ease in making friends because they are more secure about their year round ability to be employed for both present and future. What this has to do with you is that you are correct in wanting to volunteer to help find your own year round career path and ways to make yourself aligned with the higher spiritual vibration to manifest a year round career path andor a second job that some of your most talented coworkers do. As your future higher self I must allow you to wisely figure out if you are meant to have two jobs as some of your most talented and wisest coworkers do at your current job andor if you are meant to make yourself competitive for a year round job whether attached to your current company andor another outside company. Even as your future higher self I must leave you to figure that out on your own. However, here is what I am allowed to tell you as your future higher self,
By this Thursday January 25, 2018 andor sooner I recommend that you both start to keep track of what you choose to keep and ideally keep a maximum of 32 magazines, 32 books, and 100 to a max of 150 cds and let the rest go while you work to organize and clean your apartment and other areas of your life. I understand why you have been postponing on doing this especially because the extra cds can be held on to as a just in case for the May timeframe for reasons related to your current job. However, you and I both know that you released items with greater ease when you worked a year round job making over 3000 dollars a month after taxes. Pray for the strength to follow through on what I just told you as the messages that your heaven spirit ally team and heaven higher self have been sending you in regards to what lifetime potential career and lifetime potential long term state of residence to look into-those messages are going to be heard by you much louder and clear if you follow through on the advice I am giving to you with tough love but unconditional love. It is ok if you start in small baby steps tonight and only go through your magazines tomorrow morning but please strive to follow what I told you by this Friday morning andor sooner even if you have to temporarily postpone andor change your writing schedule for this week to do so. Những ngày tháng 9 trong tôi là những ngày thật buồn.
Hôm nay tôi đã tới 1 nơi quen thuộc, nơi mà gần 1 năm trước đây, nó đã là của tôi. Căn nhà vẫn vậy, đồ đạc vẫn còn nguyên như ngày đó. Trong nhà chỉ còn 1 người đàn ông lớn tuổi hay thương mến gọi anh chủ nhà là “cậu Hai”.
Còn tôi là ai ư, tôi sẽ không nói tôi là ai, mà tôi sẽ nói anh chủ nhà ấy là một người bạn của tôi.
Mỗi lần về đây tôi thường dành vài tiếng để ngồi trong phòng cũ của anh ngày trước, cũng là nơi tôi nghe tiếng tim anh đập lần cuối cùng, trước khi anh tan biến vào không gian. Trong phòng anh có 1 cây đàn piano đã cũ và 1 giá sách lớn, chắc vì anh hay đọc sách lắm. 25/9 của năm ngoái là ngày anh ra đi.
Chắc hẳn nếu ai ham mê đọc sách và đang học về Y thì sẽ biết tới cuốn When breath becomes air hay Khi hơi thở hóa thinh không của Paul Kalanithi. Tôi không rõ cuốn sách xuất bản lần đầu vào bao giờ, nhưng những ngày cuối cùng anh ấy thích được nghe đọc cuốn sách này hoặc anh sẽ tự đọc, cuốn sách bằng tiếng Anh và hình như anh được 1 người đồng nghiệp tặng.
Anh ấy cũng là một bác sĩ, là một bác sĩ huyết học. Khi sự nghiệp của anh đang rất ổn, gần cuối năm 2014, anh được biết mình đang mắc ung thư phổi, cũng giống như bác sĩ Paul. Lúc này, từ 1 bác sĩ, anh trở thành 1 bệnh nhân, anh vẫn rất mạnh mẽ. Nhưng cũng có những lúc yếu lòng, anh đã khóc rất nhiều và suy sụp tinh thần, trầm cảm. Tính cách của anh cũng thay đổi, anh trở nên nóng tính và dễ nổi cáu hơn, đôi lúc lại trầm ngâm. Tôi còn nhớ lúc ấy anh thích được ở cạnh mọi người lắm, anh rất sợ ở một mình. Tôi không trách anh, vì cả đời anh đã kiên cường quá rồi, giờ vừa bệnh tật vừa mệt mỏi làm sao anh có thể mạnh mẽ mãi.
Lúc ấy anh đang yêu 1 cô gái. Anh hạnh phúc lắm vì mình chuẩn bị được cầu hôn cô gái ấy nhưng rồi anh đổ bệnh, hình như đó là lần đầu tiên tôi thấy anh ho ra máu, rất nhiều máu rồi ngồi sụp xuống 1 góc, cái áo sơ mi trắng của anh vương đầy máu, và lúc ấy anh còn bị chảy máu mũi nữa. Anh gầy rộc người đi, rất dễ thấy anh gầy đi vì anh vốn đã cao và gầy nên giờ chỉ cần sút cân chút thôi là thấy liền.
Lúc nằm viện anh còn cười, bảo tôi rằng anh sẽ ổn thôi. Nhưng tôi biết anh sẽ không ổn, sẽ không ổn một chút nào hết. Cô gái anh yêu đã yêu 1 người khác, anh cũng không oán trách gì hết, anh cười vì đằng nào anh chẳng chết, giữ làm gì tội người ta. Tôi còn nhớ cái trung thu cuối cùng của anh, anh cố năn nỉ người anh yêu ở bên anh nhưng cô ấy đã từ chối và đi tham gia chương trình trung thu cho đám trẻ con trong xóm. Hôm ấy anh đã đau đớn và khóc nhiều như thế nào, chẳng biết vì đau hay vì sao nữa. Anh cứ cố gắng gượng mãi, vì anh sợ người anh yêu sẽ sốc nếu anh chết bây giờ, cô ấy còn phải đi làm vất vả nữa, sốc rồi ốm ra đó. Nhưng số phận không cho anh thêm thời gian nữa, những ngày gần cuối, anh xin được về nhà để được ra đi trong căn phòng quen thuộc của mình. Anh từ biệt tất cả đồng nghiệp của anh, chào tạm biệt cả lũ trẻ con đang điều trị cùng anh ở viện rồi anh đi. Anh đã tận hưởng nốt những ngày còn lại của mình trong bình yên.
Trước đó, anh đã tặng lại rất nhiều sách và những gì anh từng ghi chép trong suốt thời gian làm việc cho học trò và hậu bối của anh, anh tặng tiền anh tiết kiệm được cho quỹ để giúp bệnh nhân nghèo, anh cố gắng dạy hết lại cho những người trẻ sau anh tất cả những gì anh biết, kiến thức và y đức của anh. Ngoài căn nhà nhỏ khiêm tốn của anh, anh chẳng giữ lại thứ gì cho mình nữa. Anh đưa tôi 1 cuốn sổ, bảo tôi giữ cẩn thận, đó là hồi kí của anh, về những ngày anh đã từng sống, làm việc và yêu thương. 10h30′ ngày 25/9/2016, anh ra đi tại nhà riêng, xung quanh anh chẳng có nhiều người, có tôi, 2 người bạn của anh và ông quản gia. Gia đình anh làm gì còn ai nữa, bố mẹ anh đã mất lâu lắm rồi. Ngày anh đi, anh 40 tròn. Tôi vẫn còn nhớ anh đã muốn cố tới sinh nhật lần thứ 41 của mình như thế nào nhưng anh không còn cơ hội đó nữa. Gần 2 năm chống chọi với bệnh ung thư phổi, anh mất. Nhưng anh vẫn sống mãi trong lòng những người nhớ đến anh.
Sau ngày anh mất thì căn phòng cũng được dọn dẹp lại cho sạch, nhưng gần như vẫn còn nguyên như ngày trước. Ngày trước tôi hay thích mở tủ đồ của anh và ngắm. Đơn giản là vì tủ đồ của anh rất đẹp và ngăn nắp, những chiếc sơ mi, vài bộ suit các kiểu được treo ngay ngắn, rồi ngăn đựng caravat và đồng hồ cũng chỉ có vài thứ nhưng rất đẹp. Hồi trước khi anh bệnh, dù gầy nhưng anh mặc suit hay blazer đều rất đẹp, anh bảo có tuổi rồi thì mặc cho nó chững chạc một chút. Có những lúc anh em đi cafe, anh thường không màu mè chỉnh chu mà sẽ chọn 1 chiếc sơ mi kẻ trẻ trung, 1 chiếc quần jean kèm 1 đôi giày buộc dây, chẳng ai nghĩ anh đã gần 40 đâu. Lúc anh đi, chiếc sơ mi anh vẫn hay mặc hàng ngày nó rộng vô cùng tận, cứ như nó có thể biến thành một cái hồ đựng hết nước mắt của những người yêu thương anh mà chẳng sợ đầy tràn vậy, lúc ấy anh chỉ còn hơn 42kg một chút, trong khi ngày trước, anh cao 1m85 và nặng 65kg.
Người đã ra đi thì không thể trở về, ta chỉ còn cách tiếp tục sống để nhớ tới họ. Sống cả năm tràn đầy niềm vui, rồi tới ngày này tự cho phép mình buồn một chút, nhớ quay quắt, đau đớn tới mức có thể khóc nguyên 1 đêm rồi mọi thứ lại dần trở về quỹ đạo. Cứ thế, cứ thế, cứ tự cho mình 1 ngày yếu lòng.

The Red String - Chapter 10
Author’s Note: The next chapter in my soulmate AU fic about Ignis x fem!OC. This chapter heavily features Prompto. I am super excited about Episode Prompto coming out! I can’t wait to find out more about his time in Niflheim (I wrote this before all the trailers came out). I didn’t really take any liberties with that aspect of his story here, but his background is mentioned. Trigger Warning: mention of self-harm, talk of depression and suicide. Side note: If you find yourself struggling with depression/suicide/etc, and you need someone to talk to, I’m always here to listen. As someone who has struggled with depression and suicide, I try to be a good listener. I won’t know exactly what you’re going through, but I probably have an idea at least. *hugs* Word count: 2118
Chapter Masterlist
Chandra figured Ignis had gone back to the guys’ room to hang out. Either that or he went out for Ebony. She noticed he drank it all the time. It explained the scent she picked up on his jacket before. She contemplated the future laid out before her. The guys knew where to find another boat to head towards Lestallum. Prompto had invited her to continue to tag along, but she was unsure.
When they first arrived in Altissia, she had a strong sense of déjà vu. Though it was dark and the city had been torn apart by Leviathan, she could see the beautiful buildings and stand in awe at its grandeur. “My dream definitely took place here,” she had mumbled to herself. She had guessed that she had glimpsed the Hydraean and based on the guys’ stories, she knew they had been in Altissia before they came to Gralea. They had been traveling with that Prince Noctis guy until he was absorbed into that crystal that the Empire had stolen from Lucis. They had explained their journey to her, though they left out specific details, refusing to elaborate on certain events, such as their run-ins with the Empire and Chancellor Ardyn Izunia. “Yep, they definitely took part in the battle here. Did I really witness what happened to Ignis during the fight? And did I somehow intervene?” she wondered.
She rose from the bed and checked the bandages on her wrist. If she had roomed with the others, she would have had to sleep in a long-sleeved shirt, which was always too hot and uncomfortable to her. The only good thing about Ignis’s handicap was that he wouldn’t see the bandage and ask about what was there or what happened like the others ultimately would have.
She pulled the bandages off to survey the damage. Crusted blood covered the barcode, but the red lines made it less legible. She’d have to cut it some more to make a lasting impression, however. She went to the sink and scrubbed off the caked on blood. Just as she turned around to grab a towel, a knock came at the door and Prompto immediately burst in.
“Good morning, Chandra! Iggy’s back at the room so I thought I’d just see how you—holy shit what’s on your wrist?!” He noticed her barcode midsentence and couldn’t tear his eyes away. He had caught her off guard and she hadn’t had the time to react.
“It’s nothing! Nothing! You didn’t even give me the chance to respond! You just came bursting through the door! Shit, just forget it, okay!” She blushed and hid her wrist behind her back as she glared into the floor.
Prompto shut the door and made his way over to her. She backed into the sink, refusing to look at him. His voice came out soft, filled with understanding. “Chandra. It’s alright. You don’t have to hide it. I know what it is. I have one too.”
Her head shot up, and her eyes widened. “What?”
He pulled off the black band that encased his right wrist and he held it up to her face. She recognized the barcode and grimaced. For a second, she thought maybe he had been a scientist too who managed to escape, but his past was much worse than hers. She’d been caught red-handed, so she figured she may as well fess up. Prompto seemed to be the most understanding of the group, and now she knew why.
“Prom…it’s not exactly the same. Here, take a look.” She lifted her wrist and he gasped, taking in all of the cuts which crisscrossed over the thick black lines.
“Wow. I mean, I just cover mine, but you’re trying to mutilate yours.”
“No, that’s not what I meant. Look at the lettering.”
Prompto grasped her hand and studied the tattoo. “See how the barcode starts with ‘SCI’? That’s short for ‘scientist’,” she explained.
Prompto dropped her hand as though it was on fire and suddenly glared into her eyes. “Scientist!? But…but you said you were a doctor! You lied to us? Even after I stuck up for you? How could you? I trusted you, and all this time you were one of the people who…who would have turned me into a mindless killing machine if given the chance?!” Prompto’s freckled face reddened as he turned to exit the room. Chandra lunged after him, grabbing onto his wrist. He tried to shake her off, but her grip tightened.
“Wait, Prompto! Please let me explain! I swear I’ll tell you the truth! Just please believe me!” Tears started streaking down her pale cheeks as she held onto the blonde.
Prompto sighed and turned towards her. He always tried to see the best in people, and he couldn’t help but want to give her another chance despite the feeling of betrayal. “Fine, but seriously, don’t lie to me again.”
“Okay,” Chandra whispered. “Truth is, I’m not actually from Niflheim. I’m from Tenebrae. I was essentially kidnapped and brought to Niflheim to be part of their science program. I didn’t want any of that, but I had no choice. I don’t exactly want to go into detail, but let’s just say they made good on their threats, and so I was forced to work in those labs. I really did want to become a doctor, but I guess my fate lied elsewhere. It was either work in the lab or suffer the consequences.” The tears were forming rivers down her red cheeks as she confessed to the man.
“You really had no other choice?”
All of her fears and insecurities were rearing their ugly heads. If someone like Prompto, who was sweet and friendly, couldn’t see past what she had done, then how could anyone else? She couldn’t help but allow herself to be swallowed in all of her depressing thoughts as she answered. “I didn’t. Plus I had nowhere else to go. I had no one left in Tenebrae. I mean, I guess I could have just killed myself, but I was selfish enough to not really want to die. I did at first, but I couldn’t bring myself to go through with it. Maybe I would have been better off dead.”
Prompto felt guilty. “Don’t say that!” He turned to her and wrapped her up in a hug. She stiffened initially, but allowed herself to hold him back and cry into his shoulder.
“I know what it’s like to be depressed and suicidal. Believe me, I know better than you’d think. No matter what though, it’s never worth it to kill yourself,” he assured her, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m glad you didn’t kill yourself, actually. I don’t know what your purpose is in life, but there must be a reason you’re still here. I mean, you didn’t take pleasure in what you did there in Zegnautus Keep, did you?”
“It was the absolute worst,” Chandra sobbed. “I can’t even describe the things I saw there. I still have nightmares to this day. You don’t understand just how horrid Niflheim can be.”
“I believe you. I don’t know exactly how I managed to escape my fate, but I was supposed to become an MT,” Prompto quietly admitted.
Chandra pulled out of the embrace and held onto Prompto’s tattooed wrist. “I recognize your barcode. You’re right; you were born to be an MT. I’m glad you got out. Maybe there were more of you who didn’t have to go through that.” She smiled slightly, though the sentiment didn’t reach her eyes. “I’m sorry I lied to all of you. I was afraid of you hating me. I really like you all, even Gladio, and if this doesn’t change anything, I would like to continue on with you, if that’s okay.”
Prompto smiled. “Of course it’s okay. We’d love for you to stick with us. I’m sorry I lost my cool with you. I’m still coming to terms with what I am. I literally just escaped torture at Zegnautus Keep, so you can see why the subject is a little painful for me.”
Chandra hurt for him, but didn’t want to press him into talking about it. “I’m so sorry, Prompto. Believe me, I never wanted any of this to happen to anybody. I’ve done monstrous things that I’m not proud of, but I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to the rest of humanity. Niflheim does not own me anymore. I don’t want to be the reason for other’s nightmares.”
Prompto patted Chandra’s back and started to bid her goodbye so she could clean up and pack, but he couldn’t help himself from asking what had been on his mind the whole trip. “Changing the subject, can I ask you something?”
“What?” she sniffled.
“Why are you so drawn to Ignis? I can’t help but notice that you stare at him a lot and you gravitate towards him. Do you have a crush on him or something?”
That was not what she had expected him to ask. She briefly considered lying by omission, but she decided that Prompto deserved nothing but the truth from her from then on.
“Can you keep a secret?” she whispered.
He chuckled. “I’ve keep secrets from even my best friends my whole life up until now. Pretty sure I can take yours to the grave if I have to.”
Chandra grinned. “I just had to make sure.”
“So, what, you like him?”
“Well, it’s more complicated than that…” She went on to explain the dream to him. He stood wide-eyed, staring off beside her as she spoke. When she got to the part about the blast, his gaze shifted over to her eyes.
“So that’s how Iggy lost his sight!”
“Well, I’m not sure, entirely. I didn’t actually see him after I turned to run away too. We’re making assumptions here. Besides, I wasn’t actually there, was I? I mean, he said he didn’t recognize my voice. It couldn’t have been real.” She tried to reason.
“I dunno. It seems like you were there. How else would you have known him? Gladio did find him in the area you described. Maybe you weren’t physically there. Maybe it was just your…spirit or something? Yeah, you were able to like, project yourself to him.” Prompto suggested.
“And here I thought I sounded crazy,” Chandra grinned. “You’re trying to justify this! It’s absurd! I don’t know how or why I am involved with him, but I am. I’m drawn to him like a moth to flame and I can’t explain it. I guess you could say I am developing a crush on him, I suppose.”
Prompto debated on whether or not to tell her about finding her. He decided it could do no harm at this point. “Wanna know how we really found you in the snow?”
“How?” she raised an eyebrow at him.
He went on to explain how Ignis suddenly made them stop and how he miraculously navigated through the storm to find her and have them dig her out and drag her back to the train. She sat there in awe.
“So he feels drawn to me too?” she timidly asked.
“Yeah, I guess so. Now I don’t know if he has a crush on you exactly. I hadn’t asked. But I can if you want me to?” Prompto smirked.
“No! Don’t! Besides, didn’t you say he doesn’t remember Altissia? Maybe I really did just coincidentally dream about the event. It would be one thing if he recalled seeing me, but he doesn’t remember anything about his accident. How about we just not tell him about any of this, hmm? It can be our secret. We can just go on and act like nothing happened.”
“Well, we don’t have to tell him anything yet, but I still feel like there’s something big going on between the two of you. I feel like if you want to get close to him, you will have to tell him these things. You can’t keep secrets like that from someone you love.” Prompto explained.
“I never said I loved him!” Chandra blushed. “I just…I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on here, okay?”
“Fine. I just wonder what the Astrals have in store for the two of you next,” Prompto mused. “Now hurry up and get ready. We have quite the trip ahead of us!” With that, Prompto marched out the door.

I truly believe that many online comments to this article mean well and have only good intentions when advising to avoid giving notice. However, even if you risk former coworkers andor leaders wanting to talk about you differently than you expect to your new job it is imperative to be candid with your boss on where you are going. Reason why; Regardless of what is said about you from former coworkers andor leaders at a previous job, a new job pretty much gives you a clean slate and you can always do your best through both your wise actions and good karma to redeem yourself in your new job even if you have a controversial history andor past. Additionally, it is important to be honest with your boss on where you are going because even if you are relocating it is a small world and you never know if your boss, any of your other managers, andor even any of your former coworkers may through unexpected andor unplanned circumstances be inspired by your career move andor want to follow you to a similar company, same company, andor even similar area. Yes, I understand it can be risky if even critics follow you to a new company yet it is important to take that as a compliment if anyone from your former company follows you whether they are critics or your supporters/allies.

My husband and I were actually just talking about where Amazon might place their second headquarters just yesterday. Naturally, with both of us residing in Maryland, my husband admitted to having a bias in hoping that Amazon would put their headquarters in Montgomery County Maryland. However, we both guessed that the second headquarters might actually be placed in the Northern Virginia area if the Washington D.C. area is selected. Obviously time is going to tell which city wins the Amazon second headquarter sweepstakes.
