A Brief Summary of Ideas: Outlive
*These summaries are kept intentionally very brief, just hitting what I consider some of the important/interesting takeaways, most word-for-word or paraphrased. My goal is also to stick to ideas/principals that might guide others (or my future self) in deciding the value of a read (or re-reading). T = takeaway, Q = Question
Outlive: The Science & Art of Longevity
Author(s): Peter Attia, MD with Bill Gifford
Tumblr media
“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” – Bishop Desmond Tutu
Longevity has 2 components: How long you live (lifespan), and how well you live (healthspan).
Risk is not something to be avoided at all costs; rather, it’s something we need to understand, analyze, and work with.
Hyperbolic discounting: natural tendency for people to choose immediate gratification over potential future gains.
Healthspan deterioration categories:
Cognitive decline.
Decline and eventual loss of function of our physical body.
Emotional health.
Horsemen diseases
Cardiovascular disease
-Heart disease and stroke, lumped as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, represent the leading cause of death.
-Many potential pharmacologic interventions to reduce blood lipids
Cancer
-Perhaps the most important tool in our anticancer arsenal is early, aggressive screening.
Alzheimer’s disease
-Broadly strategy should include vascular health, metabolic health, early prevention, and exercise.
Metabolic syndrome (meet 3 or more)
-High BP (>130/85)
-High triglycerides (>150mg/Dl)
-Low HDL cholsesterol (<40 mg/dL in men or <50 mg/dL in women)
-Central adiposity (waist circumference > 40” in men or 35” in women)
-Elevated fasting glucose (>110 mg/Dl)
-Canary in the coalmine of metabolic disorder is elevated insulin.
-Fat storage capacity varies widely among individuals.
Medicine 3.0
Places a far greater emphasis on prevention than treatment.
Considers the patient as a unique individual.
Our starting point is the honest assessment, and acceptance, of risk—including the risk of doing nothing.
Pays far more attention to maintaining healthspan.
You are always participating, never passive.
Tactics of Medicine 3.0:
Exercise: data demonstrating the effectiveness of exercise on lifespan are as close to irrefutable as one can find in all of biology.
-Strength. Build up solid base (lose it quickly as you age). Structure around grip strength, concentric and eccentric loading, pulling, and hip hinging.
-Stability. Cultivating safe, ideal movement patterns. First rule of fitness: do thyself NO harm. Subconscious ability to harness, decelerate, or stop force.
-Aerobic efficiency. Zone 2 cardio, appx. 3 hours/week.
-Peak aerobic capacity. VO2 max training, 1 or 2 per week.
Nutrition/nutritional biochemistry. Figure out what works for your body and your goals. What you can stick to. Don’t eat too many calories, or too few; consume sufficient protein and essenteial fats, obtain the vitamins and minerals you need; and avoid pathogens.
Sleep. Dark, cool (mid 60’s), avoid napping if it will reduce sleep pressure, sauna/warm shower before bed, limit food within 3 hours of bed.
Emotional Health
-“Every man is a bridge, spanning the legacy he inherited and the legacy he passes on.” -Terrence Real
-The most important thing about childhood trauma is not the event itself but the way the child adapts to it.
-“When nothing seems to help, I go back and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without so much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.”-Jacob Riis
-When we are suffering it is rarely because of some direct cause. -More likely we are thinking about some painful event in the past or worrying about something bad that may occur in the future.
-Changing behavior can change the mood. You don’t need to wait for your mood to change.
Exogenous Molecules
Longevity is meaningless if your life sucks.

have u done an analysis on endgame st ships? a penny for ur thoughts
i have not!! i would like two pennies please. my thoughts are not actually worth that much but i think i deserve them anyway. i’m gonna talk about some stuff that may seem unrelated or only loosely related to the question but i prommy it’s relevant <3 warning this ended up being like a thousand words somehow idk how that happened but i’m putting it under a cut bc i’m nice like that.
so! something that’s kinda unique/interesting to me about stranger things is how all of their ships are so clearly telegraphed and quickly developed. there’s a sense of... impatience, for lack of a better word. on the surface, it appears to be largely an effect of the cinematic style of the show; there’s very little room for questioning who someone’s gonna end up with or for slowly developing a relationship over time when you only get eight episodes every like. twoish years. AND you have about a dozen main characters AND evil government forces AND monsters from another dimension. it’s a lot to juggle!
stranger things has a lot to accomplish in a pretty short amount of time. the timeline of a single season usually spans no more than a week (excluding flashbacks/end-of-season timeskips), and well... nobody wants the important stuff to happen offscreen! i’ll use the stoncy love triangle as an example: jancy was originally intended to get together at the end of s1 after steve’s death, but since they decided to let steve redeem himself and survive, there was just no time to separate stancy and get jancy together without it seeming wayyy too abrupt. since jancy was always their plan, they didn’t want to leave nancy with steve, but they knew they couldn’t just have that boyfriend swap occur offscreen... which is why s2 Had to have a stancy breakup plot in order for the writers to accomplish their goal of getting jancy together.
the main characters in stranger things tend to maintain homeostasis between seasons, their circumstances and relationships rarely changing any more than the audience might have just assumed they would anyway (like lucas and max dancing together + sharing a kiss at the end of s2 and officially dating by the start of s3). steve and nancy are dating at the end of s1, so they must still be dating at the start of s2, and thus we must break them up DURING s2. joyce and hopper are friends with some deeply buried feelings in s2, so they’re friends with Less Buried feelings that must become apparent during s3. excluding the stancy situation (for reasons which i think are obvious but i will talk more about later), momentum is always forwards. mileven, lumax, and jancy argue, but they come back together, presumably more mature and stronger than before.
all of this is to say that stranger things has thus far been rather dedicated to their starting ships. there isn’t much misdirection; mike’s crush on el is obvious from the start, nancy and jonathan share charged moments even while she is with steve in the beginning, lucas shows interest in max immediately and shares more significant interactions with her than the other boys from early on in s2, and the deep loyalty and care between joyce and hop is always apparent. steve and robin (initially intended to be together romantically) hold hands quite early in s3 and dustin asks steve about whether he likes her.
the point? stranger things doesn’t dick around when it comes to love! they handle their ships with remarkable efficiency. in each season, it tends to be pretty obvious from the start who’s going to end up with who, and heading into the show’s fourth season, almost everybody is paired off: mike and el, max and lucas, joyce and hop, nancy and jonathan. which leaves us asking... are all of them going to last until the end?
we’ve only had one true breakup on the show so far, and as i’ve said before, the stancy breakup is an anomaly as it was essentially “righting a wrong,” allowing jonathan and nancy to get together as they were intended to do from the start. the only other romantic relationship to end on the show was between joyce and bob, and well... we all know why that ended, and it started/ended within the confines of a single season.
stranger things tends to treat each season as an extended film, right? they draw inspiration from classic 80′s films, and each subsequent season after s1 is treated as a sequel (they are Literally referred to as stranger things 2 and stranger things 3). when they introduce tension in a season, they’re inclined to resolve that tension by the season’s end so that people leave satisfied, while also providing a plot hook for the next “sequel” for audiences to theorize about. this hook is always part of the grander plot, not a will-they-won’t-they tease or something else of the sort. remember, they could have broken up steve and nancy in s2 and waited to get jancy together in s3, but they didn’t! they wanted to go ahead and resolve the tension!
while there are narrative and practical incentives that i’ve covered for this impatience/efficiency/[insert better word i can’t think of here], i also think it kinda reveals something about the writers of the show. to some degree, they genuinely care about and want their ships to be together! we’ve watched them introduce new characters just to kill them off a couple of times now, and i think it’s fair to say that the writers might be a bit too attached to the mains to consider killing any of them off (at least prior to the series finale). maybe... this reluctance to kill their darlings extends to ships.
romance isn’t the primary draw of the show, but an indulgence, something that there may not always be time for but that the writers continue to prioritize as much as they can because they enjoy it, or feel that it is important to the overall product. if we accept this idea, that the inclusion of and focus on so many romantic relationships in stranger things is (to some degree) indicative of the writers’ own desires, then it might inform our speculation regarding endgame ships.
i’m not here to like... really actually assert that i know what’ll be endgame, because i don’t really know jack shit. however, i do think that the writers are pretty invested in all of the current canon st ships (and yes, i am including jopper in that, as their romantic development was explicit in s3). i also think that the writers like catering to fans, leaning into popular jokes (steve “the hair” harrington) and devoting more and more time to the ships fans obsess over (particularly mileven).
with this all in mind... i really think that most if not all of the current canon ships will be endgame.
i think that barring any extreme circumstances (i.e. a character Actually dying instead of just fake dying) jopper will be endgame. they’re the only ones that the writers have had the restraint to actually do a slow burn with, and i really can’t see them devoting so much to developing their dynamic just to say it was all for nothing in the end.
i’m less confident on the others. there are some signs in canon that the remaining couples have some serious problems and may not last, but these issues are often dismissed, played for comedy or brushed over within the text itself, and many of the details within the text contradicting this dismissal are often so small that it’s unclear whether they’re intentional or not. while breaking up mileven might make perfect sense for a fan who reads into subtext and pays attention to unusual acting choices and subtle parallels, it would be a pretty risky move on the surface level. allowing these ships to remain canon for awhile and garner large fanbases only to break them up later would require both a willingness to actively contradict the desires of their audience as well as a certain degree of restraint in their romantic storytelling, which runs counter to the impression i personally have of the st writers (this is, of course, my own personal opinion).
there’s a good chance that at least one of the current canon ships will break up by the end, if only because i think that it would be a little boring if every relationship stayed the same for almost the entirety of the show’s run, and the stranger writers like to keep things new and exciting. perhaps long distance will kill jancy or mileven, or lucas and max will go off again and never come back on, but either way i wouldn’t be surprised if we got a breakup in s4. even with that, though, i think it’s somewhat likely that a current couple may break up in s4 and get back together for the series finale, just for the sake of a little suspense. overall, though, i feel like our current canon ships are going to be more or less the same at the end of the show.
that’s about it. i suppose i didn’t really... answer the question you asked skdndsdkjc i feel like you probably just wanted to know like if i’m a byler endgame truther (which i am not but i could happily be proven wrong). thank you for asking, though! i hope this made at least a little bit of sense.

Analysis of El if you'd like.
Always so humble with the requests. Of course I’d like, otherwise I wouldn’t ask. Ask away, people! Oh, and FYI to everyone, when I see a like less than a minute after I post one of these long posts, it makes me wonder if you people are really reading them. Don’t assume you’re going to like them. Read them, and then decide. El can be a touchy subject considering she has such a rabid fan base. She is an extremely complex character, and it is unlikely that the Duffers have a detailed understanding of child psychology. The character therefor likely wasn’t designed with such theories in mind, but in psychology there is decent amount of common sense that writers may have drawn on. In real life, El would be quite the interesting case study. She was born and raised in a controlled lab setting. Everything in her life was strictly controlled until she was 12/13 or so. For another year after that she was still very limited in her freedoms and opportunities as she was hidden away in Hopper’s cabin. For several months after that she was only allowed out to see her friends, but never in a public setting it would seem. All of this has strictly limited her socioemotional growth.
El’s cognitive development seems to be the least impacted, not accounting for physical development which I wouldn’t even attempt to determine. Her cultural knowledge is almost nonexistent when we first meet her, which is to be expected given her upbringing. Nevertheless, she possesses problem solving skills, has shown impressive concentration and information processing speed (staying focused on her tasks and reacting to new stimuli, such as an attack), an ability to form basic arguments (as shown in her fights with various characters), and receptive language skills. She does seem to have deficits in productive language, which is likely a result of her extremely limited social exposure. The traits she is shown to do well with are likely the result of careful conditioning by Dr. Brenner and his colleagues. She was designed as a weapon, and would therefor need to work quickly, efficiently, and decisively based on orders given. She also, somewhat surprisingly given her catchphrase, has shown the ability to lie (when she intentionally led Mike, Dustin, and Lucas on a wild goose chase). This shows her ability to use planning and judgement to decide and execute a course of action (whether that was a good or bad idea is up for debate).
Her emotional and social development are seriously stunted. When we meet El she possesses little affect (the verbal and non-verbal cues that convey feeling when communicating). She speaks in a flat voice, stares blankly, and has limited usage of body language. She does get an edge to her voice when angry, but her speaking volume rarely changes unless in a high-stress situation. This shows a delay in emotional development. Emotional development goes through a series of stages. To some extent, emotions are instinctual and necessary to survival, but the expression of said emotions is usually learned and conditioned. We don’t know much about El’s early childhood, but it is unlikely that emotional expression was encouraged. El does possess basic emotions like happiness, anger, sadness, and fear. Her limited ability to express emotions early in the show is likely a result of Dr. Brenner wanting to limit her emotional responses. He wouldn’t want a weapon that was afraid or remorseful. He did seem to value having a bond with her, as she seemed to desire his approval and called him “Papa.” He is shown treating her very poorly in general, and even worse when she was a disappointment to him. Her lack of affect could also be modeled on him, as he generally speaks very evenly regardless of his mood.
El’s emotional development does gain some traction in seasons 2 and 3 as she is exposed to others. This is a good segue to her social development. Before escaping the lab, she seems to have little to no social experience. She seems to have had some early socialization with Kali at the lab, but she had no memory of this. Her first real social experiences occurred when she met Benny (who treated her kindly) and then Mike, Lucas, and Dustin. This is when she starts to show her trademark character quirk of repeating others. This is also when she starts to really build conversational skills, as before she was mostly expected to take in language rather than express it.
Much of our social learning, especially early on, is a result of observation and imitation. We see something, whether in person or through fictional material, we imitate it, and then we are reinforced, ignored, or punished. From what we can observe from El, after she escapes the lab through to when she moves, her learning came from a combination of the week she spent with the Party (during Season 1), her time hiding with Hopper (end of Season 1 to midway through Season 2), her time with Kali, and then the events of Season 3. Now, we have to keep in mind that all of this learning occurs in the span of about two years. Of that time, over half of it is the result of watching TV and speaking to Hopper. She lacks a lot of the cultural context for a lot of the social and emotional information she takes in.
Her social relationships are difficult to examine, mostly because there is a lot we just don’t get to see. She bonded with Mike very quickly, as he was kind to her and tried to keep her safe from the “bad men.” In reality, he didn’t treat her terribly different from Dr. Brenner in the sense that he was still using her. Mike tried to explain relationships and social norms to her, but, given her lack of preexisting knowledge and his own limited understanding, she didn’t quite get it all. She doesn’t seem to know the difference between familial, platonic, and romantic love. Instead, she sort of imprints on him like a baby animal may to its carer. Dustin and Lucas are less eager to have her around, but they warm up to her when it’s clear that she does genuinely want to help.
Her time away from them, and her apparently great consumption of TV soap operas, has resulted in her sort of trying to live out a fantasy. She becomes obsessed with Mike, watching him and stalking him since she is disallowed from actually leaving the cabin. She becomes extremely possessive (like a soap opera character), developing a dislike of Max simply due to her trying to be Mike’s friend. This is quite unhealthy, and the hostility is again shown when Max attempts to befriend her. It is apparent that her time away resulted in a her creating an “ideal” version of her and Mike based on TV representations of relationships. She still is shown to have missed Dustin and Lucas, but none of the intensity is present in those relationships.
Her relationship with Mike is very superficial. As far as viewers can tell, they spend most of their time making out. El is still shown to have possessive qualities, as it is stated that she and Mike are often at Hopper’s cabin together. We see them bailing early after Dustin comes home from camp, despite them making the trip to the hill to construct Cerebro. El does not seem to appreciate any of Mike’s personal interests or personality traits. In a callback to season 1, where El had no interest as Mike showed off his toys, El tells Mike to stop singing and does not laugh at his attempts at a joke (granted, she was angry with him at the time). The implication is that the realities of her relationship with Mike did not meet her expectations. This is actually a fairly normal part of social development, and it leads her to another stage: exploration.
Up until this point, El had not attempted to explore the possibilities of who she was. She had merely taken on the identities that others had crafted for her, starting with Brenner, then Mike, then Hopper, then Max. Max is the first one to actually encourage her to explore and experiment. What Max doesn’t seem to realize, however, is that El is also now emulating her. She’s making some strides to be her own person, but she’s still heavily influenced by Max, included repeating what Max says. Nevertheless, she is genuinely confused by the entire concept of her liking something for herself, and has no idea even how to determine what she likes. This isn’t surprising, as Hopper is shown being in way over his head, and the Party are simply young teens who don’t know better.
Unfortunately for El, a traumatic loss has set her back by the end of Season 3. She lost her first real father figure, and we see her sort of revert back to dressing as she did before Max’s influence. She also falls back into her infatuation with Mike, despite seeming to have moved on. The confusion on Mike’s face suggests that this is a surprise to him, so there is a lot unknown as to how she arrived back at that decision. It is also unknown why she kept it to herself before she moved. It is plausible to hypothesize that she is going back to her first real secure base. She needs to feel safe and secure after so much traumatic change (losing Hopper, her powers vanishing, and having to move away). She could be clinging to Mike as a way to keep some semblance of control. At the very least, Mike doesn’t seem to reciprocate, which could lead to some problems for her down the road.
In the end, El is a complicated character. Millie Bobby Brown has done a commendable job portraying a traumatized character with a limited understanding of emotion and social norms. It is upsetting to see some fans acting as if her relationship with Mike is healthy for her, at least as it has so far been portrayed. There is some hope for El, developmentally speaking, as Joyce has been shown to be a very loving mother. Time away from Mike could be beneficial, but, as we saw early in Season 2, she reacts very possessively if anyone moves in on her “territory,” for lack of a better word. This relationship indeed seems very limiting for her. With any luck, she will be able to explore the world and herself to a greater extent in Season 4. It is my hope, as someone who works with children, that she is able to learn more about herself as more than just someone else’s friend, daughter, girlfriend, sister, or weapon.

of tyres that blow (extended author’s note of chapter v. of castles)
- - TO READ THE CHAPTER ITSELF, CLICK HERE. - -
Tumblr media
Oh, what a month it has been. Well, a month and two days - I’m a bit late updating. I’ve had two good things happen, writing wise. 1) I got my first original short story published (!!!!) (you can read it here) and 2) I put out a little one-shot about Fleur Delacour that I’m super happy about and gave me an idea about a new series (more on that later this week, I hope. I might need help with prompts!). Regardless, this latest Irish lockdown is fucking endless and I sometimes wonder if this fic isn’t just an outlet for my feelings of lockdown-induced loneliness, apathy, but also a constant argument that I have with myself thinking: for the love of god, just pull yourself up, will you? You’re a Gryffindor, goddamn it. I certainly wish my fucked up sleeping patterns on no one, although I may or may have Mary-Sued that onto Harry, lol. (Spoiler alert: he’s scheduled to get some real sleep in next chapter. All bets are off regarding whether I will.)
This chapter was surprisingly easy to write (I basically vomited out chapters iv, v, and vi over the span of a week in December) but incredibly difficult to edit. For days, I just couldn’t concentrate, wrote and re-wrote and felt like everything was shite. Then, I realised it’d become this 19,000-words long monster so I had to cut a lot of shit out. We ended up with 15,898 words which I suppose is better?
I do wonder: do people mind long chapters? Like, I know as fanfic reader, I personally prefer longer formats and rarely gravitate towards works that are less than 3,000 words. I love just getting buried into a story, into plots rather than single scenes. This being said, every time I write something that I deem too long (i.e. above 10k) I have these excruciating struggles where I wonder: should I cut it in half? should I leave it as is? I decided to split the last one. Then, I decided not to split this one because (you may notice this or not, I’m not sure) it’s kind of built a certain way, geared towards basically getting to the last two paragraphs. Like, when you get there, it’s a bit of an ah-ha moment, but I couldn’t get to that ah-ha moment without all the build up before it. It’s the accumulation of all of these little details that feel like they don’t matter. And as Harry says in the end, they don’t, in the grand scheme of things, but also they do. Like, everyday life doesn’t matter until you lose it. Then, it does, if that makes sense.
In terms of next update... I’ve decided to get my law licence transferred to France and the EU (it’s a long story), which means that I need to bloody, fucking study. The exams are at the end of March so my current plan is: hardcore study until the end of february. Mix study/writing in early march and hopefully get chapter vi out mid-March, then hardcore study until the end of March. Please, if you see me posting then, tell me off in the comments cause god, I really need to pass. Now, I will go have my traditional i-ve-put-a-chapter-out shot of limoncello and let you read the below :).
...spoilers for castles, chap v. under the cut -
I’ve done a lot of thinking about what this chapter is meant to be about. Obviously (I hope), every chapter has a point, in this story. Chapter 1 is about time (the way it passes and blurs when your mind’s a complete mess), chapter 2 is about hope, chapter 3 is about inevitability and the consequences of trauma, chapter 4 is about becoming an adult and growing into your own skin, etc. I think this one is about fear. How you feel it, and how you overcome it. Like, Harry takes a decision to stand up, fight, do the interview, regardless of the fact that he is scared (for his life, for that of the people he loves), and finds buried inside him a lot of the courage that he (felt) he lost, after the war. He learns to control his fear of the world by figuring out how apprehend it, through the training Giulia gives him, through learning how to kill, too.
But, it’s also about fear in society. How the attack on Robards sets everyone on edge and how they keep going regardless. I initially wrote this chapter with the idea that it was going to be about speaking out and being brave, but obviously, fear and fighting against it is a huge part of that, too.
Then, there’s Mia. Obviously, this fic is Harry/Ginny endgame but I do like the idea of Harry (and possibly Ginny as well) dating at least one other person, before officially tying the knot. Like, yes, Ginny is obviously coming back next chapter. She’ll probably own the second half of next chapter, if I’m honest, considering they’re obviously going to the burrow for christmas. I love Ginny, I’ve missed her and honestly, I can’t wait to bring her back. This being said, to be fair, I’ve kind of realised that this fic may actually be the first I ever write that isn’t strictly “shippy.” Like, yes, their relationship is a huge part of it (it’s a huge part of his life) and it will and was always going to be a huge part of this story but I think this fic is larger than that. It’s a result of my years-long obsession over: but what happens next? Over what “all was well” really means, in a general sense. How do they get to “nineteen years later” and beyond. But yeah, I’ve missed Ginny and I’m glad she’s on her way back to us now.
Now, obviously. Giulia. I’m sorry. This was always going to happen. Well, almost always. I remember when I first wrote her in, she was a bit of a filler character. At the time, the thing with Mia was supposed to happen in last chapter and I actually had (have) much more backstory around her, than around Giulia. She and Harry were going to have proper conversations (will they ever, who knows?), really get to know each other. But then, Giulia came first narratively and shone through the page. I started writing her and she had this personality and life of her own and I couldn’t bring myself to curtail her.
Now, we all know how it is: fanfics can only tolerate so many OCs. So, I had to choose between putting Mia at the forefront, or Giulia. I chose Jules.
Then, in chapter 4, I wrote this:
Her first lesson is to teach him how to drive the patrol car. ‘I don’t know why we use them,’ she explains, honest, and Harry vaguely wonders if he should be taking notes. ‘Reckon the Ministry saw them being used by Muggles, had to prove they could do better. They like making noise, the Ministry, don’t they? Lots of sirens and shite.’
Politely, Harry hides a chuckle behind a cough. He clearly doesn’t know yet that he doesn’t need to, that Giulia’s sarcastic sense of humour is one of the things that he’ll come to appreciate the most in this world, over the next few months. That the sound of her voice is one he’ll try to never, ever forget. That in the speech that he’ll give when he makes Head Auror, over a decade later, he’ll think of her and say: ‘Okay, let’s try to not just be sirens and shite, all right?’
This kind of tumbled out without me really thinking about it until I really looked at it and thought: fuck, why is he talking about her past tense, like that. Like “the sound of her voice is one he’ll try to never, ever forget.” Why would he forget it, though? And so, just like that, came her death sentence. For that, I apologise. It killed me too, and I cried when I wrote it in (especially when I wrote next chapter, actually, first time I ever made myself cry writing, if I’m honest) but it just needed to happen. It’s how Ginny and he get back together (I mean, obviously - is that even a spoil) because he’s grieving but she’s grown stronger and steady and she’s able to be there in a way that she wasn’t last summer. It did occur to me that god, all his mentors/father figures come to die, don’t they? But honestly, I kind of thing that his real mentor will be Robards, at the end of the day. She was just the one who allowed him to get back on his feet.
One last note: I’ve been meaning to put this into the fic for ages but have never found the right moment to write it in. In the meantime, I’ll just say it here, because I don’t know if this has frustrated some of yous - I know it might have driven me mad. There is a logic to the Muggle/Wizard swearing/exclamations in the fic. Obviously, this is an adult fic so they swear normally, like eighteen-year-olds would in this (I decided that very early on), but also there’s “God”-s and “Merlin”-s and things like that.
Now, I think that throughout this fic, although Harry hasn’t mentioned it yet (cause it never fucking fits anywhere) Hermione’s been having a sort of Muggle reckoning. She - in conscience - decides to start swearing/exclaiming “like a Muggle” after the war. If you notice, she only ever says “god”, never “Merlin.” Harry uses both interchangeably although he tends to use Merlin more when he thinks about wizard stuff, but God when he thinks about Muggle stuff (like when he’s with Mia). Ron only swears in “wizard” but I think he might start using Muggle expletives as well in the later chapters because of Hermione rubbing off on him.
The fact that I even think about all that stuff is pathetic and I need to get a life. But that’s for another post, altogether.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I hope you liked it :).

To her, physical appearance / grooming is a sort of armor. It’s the first thing that people see about her, and because of her family name, that first impression is crucial. She understands that much of her family’s power comes from the fear that the name instills, and appearance plays a role in that.
—    PREFERENCES.
INDOORS    OR    OUTDOORS ? ▸ Indoors. RAIN    OR    SUNSHINE ? ▸  Sunshine. FOREST    OR    BEACH ? ▸ Forest but she wants a compromise for the bayou. PRECIOUS    METALS     OR    GEMS ? ▸ Metals. FLOWERS   OR   PERFUMES ? ▸  Flowers. PERSONALITY    OR    APPEARANCE ? ▸ Personality. BEING    ALONE    OR    BEING    IN    A    CROWD ? ▸ Definitely alone. ORDER   OR    ANARCHY ? ▸ Both have their time and place. PAINFUL    TRUTHS    OR     WHITE    LIES ? ▸ White lies, especially when it comes to her own feelings. SCIENCE   OR    MAGIC ? ▸ Magic. PEACE    OR    CONFLICT ? ▸ Peace but always be prepared for potential conflict NIGHT    OR    DAY ? ▸ Night. DUSK    OR    DAWN ? ▸ Dusk. WARMTH    OR    COLD ? ▸ Warmth. MANY   ACQUAINTANCES    OR    A    FEW   CLOSE   FRIENDS ? ▸  A few close friends. READING    OR    PLAYING    A    GAME ? ▸ Reading.
—    QUESTIONNAIRE.
▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    OF    YOUR    MUSE’S    BAD    HABITS ? : Hope has a very difficult time letting people get close because she has lost so many people in her life. As a result, she keeps herself aloof and distant from her peers, and when overwhelmed or anxious, will retreat to these antisocial habits. Hope also considers herself to be a fluke, freak of nature, or otherwise not supposed to exist. As such, she holds very little self-worth and is always willing to be the one to lay everything on the line to save her people. ▸   HAS    YOUR    MUSE    LOST    ANYONE    CLOSE    TO    THEM ?      HOW    HAS    IT    AFFECTED THEM ? : Ha. Haha. Hahahahahahaha whew that’s funny. Hope lost her mother, father, and uncle all in the span of a couple weeks. Before that, she spent much of her childhood separated from either her father or her mother or both. As a result of these events, Hope’s mind associates love with loss and disappointment, and both intentionally and unintentionally holds herself back from connecting with others. This, coupled with her low self-worth, becomes twisted into a belief that everyone would be better off without her. Her parents and uncle would still be alive, people wouldn’t get hurt trying to protect her, and everyone would just generally be safer. ▸   WHAT    ARE    SOME    FOND    MEMORIES    YOUR    MUSE    HAS ? : Some of her fondest memories occur when she is 7 years old. This was the first time that she really got to meet her family in a significant way. Other than her mother, Hope spent a lot of her childhood without much of her family, most notably her father. In her head, she has this great image of a man who would do anything for her, as told to her in bedtime stories by Hayley. She knows that the name ‘Mikaelson’ means something, but she has a hard time connecting it to the man she’s seen in pictures. However, the reality puts her imagination to shame, and Hope will never forget the short months she was able to really meet her father. He paints with her, indulges her in her mischievous magic tricks, and wants to show her the city that will one day be hers. While the issues with the Hollow ultimately dampen things, Hope holds onto the memories she has with her family at that age, because it was the last time she really felt happy and complete. ▸   IS    IT    EASY    FOR    YOUR    MUSE    TO    KILL ? :  No, not particularly. While Hope has killed before, both humans and supernatural creatures alike, she doesn’t find the task easy or enjoyable. She understands it’s a necessary evil, especially given the world that she lives in, but it’s not a decision she makes lightly. However, the one exception is that Hope does not hesitate when someone she cares about is threatened, and will respond proportionately.  ▸   WHAT’S    IT    LIKE    WHEN    YOUR    MUSE    BREAKS    DOWN ? :   The magic in Hope’s blood means that she can be quite dangerous when she doesn’t have a handle over her emotions. As the firstborn Mikaelson witch in her generation, Hope’s magical potential is enormous and she has barely scratched the surface of it. For this reason, Hope does everything in her power in order to avoid this. She ( begrudgingly ) attends therapy, chooses to wolf out when she feels restless, and trains / does physical activity to tire herself out. However, when she does break down, it’s very much like a dam breaking. The magical consequences are more severe than they otherwise would have been, and usually will cause significant shaking or energy fluctuations. Usually that is enough to snap her out of it enough to clamp down on her emotions, but a grounding touch can also help her keep calm. ▸   IS    YOUR    MUSE    CAPABLE    OF  TRUSTING  SOMEONE WITH  THEIR LIFE ? : Despite the constant danger Hope seems to find herself in, she doesn’t necessarily have trouble trusting someone with her life. Part of that is the low self-worth, part of that is her inherent power and the knowledge that she is Quite Immortal, and part of it is that when it comes to the people she’s adopted into her circle, she trusts them implicitly. Because it is so difficult to get to know her in the first place, the ones that are able to slip past her defenses manage to stay pretty entrenched. Really, it’s more that she thinks they shouldn’t trust her with their lives. ▸  WHAT’S  YOUR  MUSE  LIKE  WHEN  THEY’RE  IN LOVE ? : Once she’s past all of the emotional barriers she’s erected around her heart, Hope in love is one of the rare times that she feels like she can act her age. It’s fleeting, especially given her not great track record, but Hope wants her epic love so much sometimes that it can be blinding. She becomes reckless, especially when it comes to that person being in danger. However, her perception of love is skewed, in part by the dysfunctional relationships of her family. Between love triangles, arranged marriages, and one night stands, Hope understands what love is and its power, but she doesn’t quite know what it should look like. However, considering that she’s only 17, she has plenty of time to distinguish between loving someone and being in love with someone.

i wrote a personal essay because i’m miserable and i needed to get it off my chest. sue me
Someday This Pain Won’t Be Useful To You
When I was a teenager, I dated someone who believed that one’s luck was evenly distributed throughout their lifetime. It was a nice thought at the time. I had recently been diagnosed with major depression and PTSD, and luck rarely seemed to be on my side. I figured that at some point, I would be due for some very, very good fortune. I don’t know what happened to that person after we broke up, but our several year relationship was probably the product of some pretty bad luck. Maybe I’ll win the lottery when I’m 50.
Last year, I was diagnosed with a severe mast cell disorder. Prior to the extremely expensive once-monthly injections I now receive, I was in and out of urgent care for varying stages of anaphylaxis. I woke up daily with hands so swollen that I couldn’t play the piano, and sometimes I couldn’t walk. My joints swelled and the pain was unimaginable. All I could do was lie in bed. The condition is accompanied by severe chronic fatigue and brain fog. I was covered in painful, huge hives from head to toe – sometimes hundreds at a time – and all I could think was that no amount of future luck would serve to compensate my suffering. I was desperate to die. The constant mast cell activation, the isolation I endured at the hands of my disease, and the overwhelming fear that this was going to be my life made me angry. I trashed my bedroom. I pounded my bruised, swollen arms on the door and screamed expletives at whatever force was shifting all my life’s bad luck to my 22 year old self until my throat was raw.
The pre-mixed syringes I’m given are sent to an infusion clinic, just for me, directly from the pharmaceutical company that makes the medication. So few people are on this medication that I have my own therapy coordinator. A friend mentioned that I must be lucky to have a personal care coordinator, because she hates dealing with insurance on her own. I wonder how much of my future luck has been depleted by having someone oversee my treatment. 30 years from now, I stub my toe as the universe imposes its karmic balance.
It took almost four months to get on this medication. On a quality of life scale, I had been at a consistent 1; now, I average somewhere between a 4 and a 6. I still can’t exercise, eat high histamine foods, or wear clothes that are too warm or too tight. I still take anywhere from 2 to 4 over-the-counter antihistamines daily. They make me drowsy. You can get levocetirizine (the form of cetirizine with the left stereoisomer that is more effective and is likelier to eliminate drowsiness) instead of cetirizine anywhere in the world except Canada. I pay $40 for a bottle of 55 tablets to be shipped here from the United States, and I go through them in a month. Still, I can function a little better now. At 37, I get a paper cut.
A month ago, I had to renew my insurance coverage for my medication. I had to sign forms over the course of a week and then send them to my therapy coordinator. My prescribing doctor then had 3 weeks to sign and fax a single form. I called his office over 5 times, begging them to get it done. I emphasized the urgency of my insurance renewal. If this didn’t get done, I simply wouldn’t get my medication. It’s so tightly controlled by the pharmaceutical company that there isn’t even another dose in the city. I need insurance approval before they’ll even ship it out. The medication still hasn’t reached therapeutic levels in my system yet, and I get sick about a week before my shot is due. My next treatment appointment has been cancelled because the doctor took too long to get the form sent in. I don’t know when I’ll get another one. I’m going to get sicker in the interim. I’ll probably be disabled again. I’m trying to get into an after degree in medical science, but if my illness continues to get worse, my grades will probably suffer and I’ll be less likely to be admitted. At 49, I get a raise at work.
As a kid, I was desperate to be like the protagonists in the video games I played. I was sad, and often sick, and I endured a lot of trauma that I can only hope has earned me a better life in the future. Someone must be keeping tabs on this sort of thing, I tell myself. It occurs to me now that what I really wanted was a story worth telling. I wanted some sort of adventure. I wanted to be an active part of something bigger than myself. The worst part of this – worse than all the pain and suffering and disability – is the knowledge that none of this makes for a good story. What doesn’t kill you won’t make you stronger, and sometimes it will make you want to die. Some people simply find themselves going through life waking up and wishing they hadn’t. I am no longer an active participant in my life, but a passive observer. I go through my days wondering if I’m hoping for a future that isn’t there. The days are joyless, and my life is ruled by people who don’t care enough to sign a form within the span of a month, even when I beg them for some sort of empathy over the phone. It’s been said that pain is always new to the sufferer, but grows old for everyone else around him. I am beginning to think things will be no different at 50.
It’s a nice thought, at least – this notion that the universe will compensate you for all your suffering – but it’s just a thought. In a sense, I’m still one of the lucky ones. Somewhere, an infant is dying of leukemia. The theory kind of falls apart when you consider the ones who are so deeply unlucky that no amount of recompense could serve to ameliorate the weight of the suffering and injustice they’ve endured. Somewhere, many years away, I am pounding on the walls again, cursing someone who isn’t there. The arc of the moral universe does not bend toward justice, because there is no moral universe.

Status: Coming Soon (Currently Writing)
Genre: College!AU / Rom-Com / Humor / Smut
Pairing: Namjoon / Y/N
Synopsis: When they were freshmen in college, Namjoon began a club with his six closest friends. The one thing they all had in common? V i r g i n s as fuck. Obviously, they couldn’t call the club the Virgins Club though and so, the Rich Man’s Crochet Club was born. Until time passes and Namjoon is the only one left. Now, the Club has one, final mission: to get Namjoon laid.
Estimated WC: 27K
Rating: 18+
Preview: 821
At the dawn of all time – or, Saturday night of freshman orientation – there occurred the meeting of seven young men. Granted, ‘men’ is a bit of a stretch, when applied to the individuals in question. They were college freshmen, so take the descriptor as you will. Each one came from a different walk of life, but each one became an integral cog to their formulation of friendship. For a friendship they had – one nigh unbreakable, forged in the heat of adversity, welded by a shared commonality which none could deny.
They were all virgins and in this, they were equals. Despite Seokjin’s continued insistence that he once ‘had his dick in the shallow end,’ it was universally acknowledged to be a gross exaggeration and so, Seokjin was welcomed into the club nonetheless. The formality of this became clear around midnight, when Taehyung clamored onto the radiator and raised his red cup for a toast.
“Gentlemen!” he cried, over the roars of six, drunken freshmen. “Tonight, I raise a toast to our burgeoning friendship!”
Enthusiastic agreement followed, while Yoongi sloshed his drink over the side of his cup.
“To finally being on our own – and out of our parents’ house!” said Taehyung.
“Fuck, yeah,” called Jungkook, hiccupping slightly. He was the youngest out of all of them and did not drink much in high school. Jimin leaned over, protectively patting him on the arm.
“And…” Taehyung paused, meeting each individual gaze. His smile turned absolutely wicked. “Here’s to all of us getting fucking laid before we graduate this hellhole!”
A rousing cheer followed. “Hear, hear!” Hoseok cried, slumped low on his futon. “To getting some pu-ssay!”
“To pussy!”
Jungkook nearly choked on his drink at that point, prompting Taehyung to pound him hard on the back. Regardless, they all drank and so, a friendship was cemented. At first, Namjoon called them the Virgin’s Club, but this title proved itself to be wildly unpopular. It was Taehyung who suggested The Rich Man’s Crochet Club, after one of his mother’s romance novels and somehow, the phrase stuck. Their group chat title was changed and the seven young freshmen never looked back.
Then – a fade-out shot through the window, followed by a long panoramic view of the campus, and –
“Namjoon!”
The sound of his professor’s voice jerks Namjoon from memory, guiltily glancing up to realize his classroom is staring.  Forty pairs of eyes are all locked on him and in turn, Namjoon flushes a strange shade of scarlet. “Uh,” he stalls, glancing up at the board. “What was the question, again?”
Professor Ridley sighs, the very picture of exasperation. “Mr. Kim,” he muses, turning around to resume playing his slideshow. “If you are going to come to my class, at least pretend like you’re paying attention.”
Namjoon considers protesting that he was pretending, and this is what got him in trouble but feels this would be, overall, counterproductive to the point. Instead, he folds both hands over his notebook. “I’m sorry, sir,” Namjoon states, aiming for contrite. “It won’t happen again.”
“A dangerous statement,” Professor Ridley notes, flipping through pages on top of his podium. “I’m sure it will happen again. To answer your question though, my original question was number forty-two of the homework. Are you able to share your response with the class?”
“Uh, sure,” Namjoon agrees, rubbing the back of his neck. He hurriedly launches into an explanation after checking the problem before him. It is lucky that, despite his apparent lack of attention span, Namjoon possesses an above-average intelligence. This is something Namjoon can state objectively – it is validated by his standardized test scores, his GPA and the affirmation of friends. Smart people rarely comment about how intelligent they are, though – if you are intelligent in the slightest, you are aware that such statements are a rather off-putting personality trait.
Once the explanation is complete, Namjoon pauses and awaits a response. The Professor stares at him for a moment, prolonging the anxiety before he nods and moves on. “Good,” he declares, scanning the classroom. “Ah, Ms. Keeney. How lovely of you to volunteer for problem forth-three!”
As soon as the man’s attention is removed, Namjoon collapses lower in his seat. Re-opening his notebook, Namjoon resumes scanning his lines – nothing in there is pertinent to the lecture, hence the daydreaming. Namjoon has been struggling all week to come up with an original concept for his student film class. Most of his time has been consumed by this task, since it is much more relevant to his actual major – screenwriting.
Jungkook made the suggestion a week prior that Namjoon write about what he knows, which is why Namjoon is considering writing a screenplay on the Club. The Rich Man’s Crochet Club, or RMCC for short: the harrowing tale of one man’s journey through college virginity. Well, the tale of seven men and their quest to lose virtue, except for the fact that six of the members are no longer virgins.
Their wandering paths have all come to fruition, as it were. Hiding a smile, Namjoon ducks his head and jots that quickly down – could come in handy, in the future.

A Pakhan’s Weakness: The Universe! Part 3 Omegas
Part 3
Omegas make up 25% of the world population and have there own set of classes due to not having any notable differences in their dependence on partners. There are important correlations between their fertility and primary gender though, which is what I will discuss here.
Infertile
Around half of all omega are classed as ‘infertile’. Meaning they have fertility rates between 0.01-5% which varies between individuals. Generally they pursue careers over starting a family- though modern technology has made children more possible than in the past.
Infertile Female-Sara
About 20% of omega population
Infertile female omega can often be found in high-demand career positions. Though able to have children, (averaging 5%), they only expect to produce 1 or 2 children naturally in a lifetime and tend to have a high rate of miscarriages when attempting to conceive.
Modern IVF treatments, combined with their generally high incomes, has increased the average rate of childbirth from 0.5 children/omega (as many choose not to become a parent) to 1.5.
Some countries still treat female infertile omega as little more than sex slaves or secondary wives. If they manage to bear an alpha child they receive the same status as a fertile omega.
Crime wise they make up the majority of hackers.
Pros:
-Career-driven
-Gets a-long with everyone.
-Forward thinkers.
-In western countries, they are the most educated group. 90% have bachelor degrees.
-They have the longest life-span of all types.
Cons:
-Very low fertility.
-Some countries/communities have difficulty accepting them.
-They experience high rates of depression.
-They are the least likely group to get married.
-Most likely group to overwork themselves to the point of hospitalisation.
Infertile Male-Yurio
About 30% of omega population
There are two main differences between fertile and infertile male omega.
1: Body size- Infertiles are smaller in stature. Very few are large enough to pass as betas.
2: They can not form an erection. This is the main indicator of their infertility.
The treatment of infertile males has varied widely across the globe. Most societies have put them in religious positions under the impression that their inability to have children was a gift to allow them more time with God/Gods. This infertility also gave them a very low sex drive, which fuelled this image of divine purity. Many popes and saints were infertile male omegas.
Modern day technology has vastly increased their chances of falling pregnant, and now they are currently more likely to have children than infertile females.
They are the most likely group to be thieves.
Pros:
-Career-driven. They are often the millionaires that make their fortune on new technology or odd trades.
-Lowest rate of obesity among all types.
-Naturally found in life-long relationships
-Selective of mates.
-They make great adoptive parents.
Cons:
-They have the highest childbirth death rate among the types.
-Very low fertility.
-Highest eating disorder rate of all types.
-20% have reportedly been involved with cults in some form.
-They lose their fertility at around 28 years old rather than the average 40 years old of other types.
Fertile
Fertile omega are prized mates, especially for alphas. They have strong scents that are described as various forms of ‘sweet’ and have the capacity to reduce rut symptoms by simply standing in a room. Some have unique scents, such as Viktor’s adoptive mother who smelled like a good cup of coffee, but the most common descriptor is ‘candy or ‘sugar’’.
Their personalities vary the most among the types, however they all seem to seek stability when preparing to raise a family.
Fertile Female-Yuuko, Zia, All the Mares
About 49.5% of omega population.
Fertile females are the stereotypical omega, as they make up the bulk of the group. Career wise they are usually the receptionist or stay-at-home soccer mum who enjoy a close relationship with their children.
Their choice in partners reflect the vast array of preferences among the group. There appears to be no standard formula in their choice of mate or how they raise their children.
They are great at forming close knit friendships and often play a key role in their local community in a variety of charitable and voluntary positions, such as meals on wheels and working at pet shelters.
They are responsible for most poisonings and are the most likely group to hire out a hitman.
Pros:
-Good at forming close knit groups.
-Naturally close to their children.
-50% fertility rate.
-Highest childbirth survival rate of all types.
-Will go to great lengths for their families
Cons:
-They have the lowest income of the types.
-Not very common overall (12.5% of world population). Alphas have killed to get their own omega.
-They make up a staggering 60% of sex-trafficking victims.
-Can become very possessive of their alpha and children.
-Often unwelcoming of outsiders.
Fertile Male-Yuuri, Masumi (Chris’ mate)
Estimated to be less than 0.5% of omega and 0.01% of the world population.
Throughout history, young fertile male omega have always been prized. Their extraordinary fertility (99.8%!) and rarity have landed them in the spotlight at the side of almost every famous ruler. Often the cause of large scale wars, kings of the past would engage in combat just to obtain an enemies male omega mate. Even WW1 was started over the assassination of a fertile male omega who was engaged to a prince.
Their elusiveness is related to their biology. While they tend to have a few omega habits, such as preferring quiet activities over sports, outwards they appear to be B or C grade betas. Heats are mild, often misdiagnosed as colds, and the fact they can have children the same as any alpha or male beta encourages relationships with female betas.
It should be noted that their intense fertility relates to both functions. They can also impregnate very easily. Most old age male omega have responded being in ‘miracle marriages’ with infertile omegas and female alphas that have produced an extraordinary number of offspring. This fertility is often why they are placed in the B or C grade category. (Yuuri was considered a C-grade).
The average age of discovery is 61, when other illnesses cause the discovery of their uterus. By this point their child-bearing capabilities are non-existent.
The other unique aspect of their biology is their inability to create slick unless in the presence of alpha pheromones. It is believed that the higher testosterone levels ‘overtake’ the omegas own and thus prepares the body for its child-bearing function. In the past, beta kings would make an alpha guard stand in the room to prepare a fertile male omega for sex. It should be noted that most omega of this class overwhelmingly prefer the sexual companionship of alphas or beta females, with very few willing male beta pairings occurring in history.
As a group, they have very low crime rates.  Children report them as loving mothers/fathers with natural parenting instincts.
Pros
-Natural Parent
-Extraordinary fertility (99.8%)
-Intelligent: Most have had a higher education, even hundreds of years ago.
-Loyal. They don’t tend to have many partners.
-Incredibly low divorce rate.
Cons
-EXTREMELY RARE
-When discovered young, they are the no.1 targets of kidnappings and rapes.
-Most likely of all omega types to commit suicide in a forced bonding or captive situation. (Often within a week).
-They have difficulty settling down into new environments.
-If discovered young, they tend to become manipulative and untrusting due to the above.

Crystal Crowned Cats
Crystal Crowned Cats are a Mod Fox Lorelei exclusive! This means they can only be adopted through Mod Fox at Lorelei’s!
Crystal Crowned Cats are around the size of a regular house cat but have crown of crystals around their head. Their fur and eyes are the same colours as the crystal that grows from their head. These cat like spirits are very, well, cat like. They are cautious, bossy, and proud creatures. They are affectionate but only specific people that they care about. They are very kind and aloof, and have strict morals and ethics that they stick to. Crystal Crowned Cats tend to have the same magical properties as the stone the bear.
For more information, click read more!
Appearance: Crystal Crowned Cats are about 24 inches from nose to tail, about the size of a typical house cat. Their fur tends to be silky with a fluffy tail, but there are variations. Cats from sandier regions tend to have slimmer tails. Their fur and eyes are the same colour as their crown, and their crown is what makes these cats stand out so. Growing out of their heads, between their ears, is a circle of gems. Most can grow in either points or druzy, but emeralds, diamonds and aquamarines are always points, while rubies, garnets and opals are druzy. Pictured here is an emerald point Crystal Crown Cat.
While it is rare, Crystal Crowned Cats can have crowns of rounder stones, like nuggets, tumbled or worry stones. These cats tend to suffer health defects. The roundness of the stones does not push through their skin hurts their head and can damage their skull. During development round crystal cats have a higher chance of being born with mental disorders such as bipolar disorder, autism, or ADHD and have a higher chance for depression and anxiety. However, despite this, round crystaled cats still can lead happy lives, and help is available for the spirit and their family should anything occur. There is a 1% chance of a cat being born with rounded crystals.
Crystal Crowned Cats are very neat creatures the majority of the time. Their fur is always kept nice and neat with their tongue except for one time of the year. Unlike other cats, they don’t shed over time, but rather at one single point in time, usually right before the warmest part of the year, when the cats will bathe to get rid of the excess fur that suddenly is loose. Leading up to these months, the cats will slightly poof up, leaving them nice and slimmer than usual right after. Their fur is incredibly soft and often used to make their own decorative objects and clothing in colder regions.
Personality: Crowned Crystal Cats are very cat like. They tend to be proud and curious creatures. Observant and cautious, they watch anyone or thing that comes too close to their home. Their words are polite but they have an air of haughtiness about them whenever strangers enter their land. They let in others so long as they respect each clan’s rules and do not seem hostile.
While each cat has their own personality, they are a race raised on manners and maturity. Recklessness, and other “childish” behavior is looked down on, but tolerated if young enough, or there is a reason present. For example, a pregnant cat would have an excuse to be a tad more whiny and sob more. Cats who go through trauma or other such events are also given leeway.
Life Style: Most cats spend their days working away at what they do, be it gathering food and resources, building homes and other gathering places, or simply at their work. They tend to have a more relaxed lifestyle where there’s little to no pressure to work as long as there’s a place for you to stay. Unnecessary jobs, like groomers or someone who makes a different kind of food, do their work for free in most clans (though some do have a currency or trade system), and jobs are more of a way to kill time rather than a necessity.
Traditions: Crystal Crowned Cats only have one day that could be considered a holiday. One the day that the cat and their siblings are born, the litter mates get together. On the normal day they don’t tend to meet up at all, unless life just turns out this way. Meeting for this one day is a treasured occasion that most siblings don’t care for. Birthdays of other family members or friends isn’t talked about or mentioned very much at all, except among their own litter mates.
Magic and General Skills: It’s a common skill for these cats to be able to use telekinesis. When they do so, their crystals and eyes glow just a little. Most cats can only lift one item that’s not too heavy, but some cats can lift larger items, or multiple at once. Sometimes a cat will gain properties of the crystal on their head, however these properties rarely translate to what we know of the crystals. Instead of Rose Quartz being for healing, it’s more common for them to be wrath with the cats. A cat with a rose quartz crown may have tendencies for calming others of such wrath, or giving someone the urge to fight through whatever battle they may have.
Habitat: Crystal Crowned Cats live in typically jungle like areas, but they have clans in desserts and other warm lands. They stay in warm places, and clans stay far apart from each other. Each has their own hierarchy and history within each clan. They are aware of other clans, but stay away from each other unless in desperate need of help. They build homes out of the surrounding areas. Trees, leaves, holes in the ground, or simply digging right into the ground, they burrow out their homes, and keep them very neat and tidy.
Relationships: Friendships and family are treasured deeply though it may not appear so on the surface. They often seem aloof and uncaring to those close to them, but in most cases the very opposite is true. Families that they are born into often part and go their own ways, but the families a cat creates are treasured above all else, and even close friends fall into the family category.
Young: Children are born into litters of 5-7 kittens. Their raised alongside each other to be taught good morals and proper manners. Every child is taught in a way that I would compare a high born human to be taught. Need to be taught how to eat properly, and sit nice and such. They’re allowed to run and have fun, though they calm down and have fun in other ways on their own, without guidance or commands from parents. They are born in litters of 4-6, and their coat is near completely white with orange or gold eyes. Around 16 weeks their colour changes to match that of their gem, which will start to appear at 18 weeks.

Psychology Chapter 11 Review
Prenatality: A Womb With a View
- Developmental psychology studies continuity and change across the life span. - The prenatal stage of development begins when a sperm fertilizes an egg, producing a zygote. The zygote, which contains chromosomes from both the egg and the sperm, develops into an embryo at 2 weeks and then into a fetus at 8 weeks. - Humans are born with underdeveloped brains, which is essential to the birth process and allows for adaptation to the social and physical environment after birth. - The fetal environment has important physical & psychological effects. In addition to the food a pregnant person eats, teratogens (agents that impair fetal development) can have an impact. The most common teratogens are tobacco and alcohol. - The fetus can hear and becomes familiar with its parent’s voice.
Infancy and Childhood: Perceiving, Doing, and Thinking
- Infants have a limited range of vision, but they can see and remember objects that appear within it. They learn to control their bodies from the top down and from the center out. - Infants slowly develop theories about how the world works. Piaget believed that these theories developed through four stages in which children learn basic facts about the world, such as the fact that objects continue to exist even when they are out of sight and the fact that objects have enduring properties that are not changed by superficial transformations. Children also learn that their minds represent objects; hence objects may not be as they appear, and others may not see them as the child does. - Hearing language about thoughts and feelings helps children acquire a theory of mind. - Cognitive development is also driven by social interactions and infants have several abilities that allow them to learn from others.
Infancy and Childhood: Bonding and Helping
- At a very early age, human beings develop strong emotional ties to their primary caregivers. The quality of these ties- which are indexed by either secure, avoidant, ambivalent, or disorganized attachment styles -is determined both by the caregiver’s behavior and the child temperament. - Piaget concluded that children’s reasoning about right and wrong develops in three ways. It is initially based on inviolable truths about the world, but expands to include concepts of fairness and equity. As they mature, children begin to consider the actor’s intentions as well as the extent to which the action obeys abstract moral principles. Kohlberg outlined a theory of morality that progresses from evaluation of an action’s consequences, to determination of whether it obeys social rules, and finally to how it aligns with core values. - Infants seem to have some “moral sense,” such as an affinity toward kind people and a concern with fairness.
Adolescence: Minding the Gap
- Adolescence begins with puberty, the onset of sexual maturity of the human body. Puberty now occurs earlier than ever before, and the entrance of young people into adult society occurs later. - Adolescents are more likely to do things that are risky or illegal, but they rarely inflict serious or enduring harm on themselves or others. - Although most people are attracted to members of the “opposite sex”, some are not, and research suggests that biology and genetics play key roles in determining a person’s sexual orientation. Sex education has been shown to reduce risky sexual behavior. - As adolescents seek to develop their adult identities, they seek increasing autonomy from their parents and become more peer-oriented, forming single-sex cliques, followed by mixed-sex cliques. Finally, they (tend to) pair off as couples.
Adulthood: Change We Can’t Believe In
- Performance on most cognitive tasks peaks when people are in their 20s, and older people develop a variety of strategies to compensate for their cognitive declines. - Older adults are more oriented toward emotional satisfaction, which influences the way they attend to and remember information, the size and structure of their social networks, and their happiness. - For most people, adulthood means leaving home, getting married, and having children. The responsibilities that parenthood entails present a significant challenge to people’s happiness.

Coney Island is home to New York’s alternative side. From the yearly mermaid parade to the nationally televised hot dog eating contest, this beachy outreach of the city feels a million miles away. If you can’t make it for an event (though you really should try!), you’ll still find plenty to do once you arrive. Take your chances on a ride at the amusement park, Luna Park, or if you’re able to drop a few bucks, gain admittance into the Coney Island Circus Sideshow. We won’t ruin the surprises but this freak show will have you scratching your head – or in some cases, hiding your eyes.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: Coney Island is grimy, weird and unforgettable experience. For free.
Andrea’s expert tip: Check the schedule and try to go when an annual event, such as the summertime Mermaid Parade, is in full swing.

Serving as New York’s seat of the archbishop, this gothic-style building has distinct American features while maintaining a European feel in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. New York architect James Renwick, also known for designing “The Castle” (the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC), completed work on the church in 1879. Renwick also designed the New York Public Library and the former facade of the New York Stock Exchange. The largest church in New York, St. Patrick’s seats over 2,000. New Yorkers consider the cathedral’s steps a good, scenic meeting spot. Download the Cathedral Tour App in advance for a self-guided audio tour narrated by Cardinal Timothy Dolan and rector Msgr. Robert Ritchie.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: Arguably one of the most stunning cathedrals in the country, the free daily tours put this at the top of the list.
Courtney’s expert tip: Get there early to snag a spot in the free 10 AM tour group.

Even if going to a library isn’t on your list of “must see” attractions back home, be sure to make an exception for the New York Public Library. This system holds one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive collections. Books, periodicals, maps, videos, musical scores and other electronically formatted items make up the more than 52 million items currently being held here. Special collections include art and architecture, print, photography, rare books, manuscripts and archives. The library also hosts special events, exhibits, instruction and classes (adult literacy, Internet workshops, etc.). In addition, free tours are offered Monday – Saturday at 11 AM and 2 PM, and at 2 PM Sundays.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: The New York Public Library is a stunning example of architecture and free for all to wander.
Courtney’s expert tip: The lions out front are named Patience and Fortitude.

Socrates Sculpture Park was founded in 1986 to provide artists with the opportunities and the space to exhibit large-scale sculptures and multi-media presentations. In this unique outdoor environment, trees are dwarfed by the results of creative expression. Prior to 1986, the location was an illegal dumpsite until artist Mark di Suvero transformed it into an open studio, allowing the space to be expanded from there. During the summer, crowds gather for everything from kite flying events to circus performances. Free yoga classes are designed for every level and there’s even an eight-week outdoor cinema program that celebrates the cultural diversity of Queens.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: Free yoga classes, outdoor cinema and art exhibitions make Socrates Sculpture Park the place to go for summer entertainment.
Courtney’s expert tip: Sunswick Creek is next door and offers free science classes for kids and kayaking for all.

Spanning from the South Street Seaport to Brooklyn Heights, the famous Brooklyn Bridge has ushered New Yorkers across the East River since 1883. A must-see for any visitor to the Big Apple, the best way to experience the bridge is to take the 30-plus minute, 3,455-foot expedition and walk it. The view of Manhattan is incredible, suddenly making it easy to understand why decades of poets and painters have been fascinated by it. The great Walt Whitman even described the view from the bridge as the “most effective medicine my soul has yet partaken.” For best results, we’d recommend going in the early morning during the summer months to miss the crowds.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: The Brooklyn Bridge is an iconic landmark seen in countless movies and shows.
Maria’s expert tip: It’s a must, but think twice before going on a cold and rainy day. The whipping winds can ruin a good time.

Said to be “Manhattan’s only remaining great gateway,” Grand Central Terminal (not “station” as it is often mistakenly called) is a magnificent example of art meeting functionality. The Beaux Arts facade that stretches along 42nd Street features a beautiful clock and crowning statues of Minerva, Mercury and Hercules. Inside the terminal, a vast blue ceiling twinkles with fiber optic lighting depicting the zodiac constellations, while one level below, sixty railroad tracks transport over 500,000 commuters a day. Since the building’s revitalization, Grand Central has enticed visitors and locals alike, with quick bites and delicacies located in the Grand Central Market, fine cuisine in the Dining Concourse and free arts events in Vanderbilt Hall.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: It’s grandiose, but Grand Central Terminal is also filled with small wonders if you know where to look.
Courtney’s expert tip: Fun fact: check out the NW corner of the ceiling. See that patch of black? That’s the color the entire ceiling (due to smoking) before they cleaned it.

For nearly a century, the brightest lights, the biggest music, the longest parties and all the star power you could ask for have stemmed off a street called Broadway. At one time not so long ago, this area was a haven for decadence. Seedy sex shops and peep shows infested the area until a successful revitalization effort and the arrival of tenants like David Letterman paved the way for a new Times Square. Now, it’s one of the most influential theater districts in the world. Times Square also hosts the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the country. Half a million people flock to the square every year to bid the old year goodbye and to welcome in the New Year, New York party style.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: It’s a must when you’re visiting New York. And unlike the person who pays the electric bill, it’s free for you.
Andrea’s expert tip: Go at night. There’s something much more magical about seeing it all lit up.

Leaving Manhattan, you gaze at the most enduring symbol of the city, the Statue of Liberty, ahead on the right and the sleek Verrazano-Narrows Bridge dominating the left. Then you realize that skyscrapers are assuming postcard dimensions of grandeur behind you. It is New York, even America, at its best, a truly thrilling experience. The magnificence of the Brooklyn Bridge soon completes the view behind you on the right. And best of all, it’s free! Once at the terminal on the Staten Island side, grab a departing boat (or stay for dinner), then enjoy the dramatic view in reverse. Hint: avoid the newer, faster craft with no outside deck.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: It’s the best way to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island for free.
Andrea’s expert tip: On the other side, check out Enoteca Maria, a casual joint that features different nonnas from around the world cooking in the kitchen.

Eight hundred acres of green space in the middle of Manhattan sounds like a fable. And yet, that’s exactly what Central Park is, which is why you’ll find joggers, nature lovers and bikers getting their fix of greenery every day. In the winter, visitors can lace up their skates for a twirl at Wollman Rink, while summer favorites include the Central Park Zoo and the Friedsam Memorial Carousel. For lazier days, catch some rays with the sunbathers in Sheep Meadow or on the Great Lawn and if you stay after the sun goes down, you may be serenaded by one of the many live performances that occur here, including some by The Metropolitan Opera and the New York Philharmonic. There’s no better place in the city to escape the city, making Central Park an oasis amongst the chaos right outside.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: Central Park is as iconic as it gets. There’s perhaps no better way to spend a free afternoon.
Andrea’s expert tip: Don’t try to make your plans here hard and fast. You’ll likely get lost in the park – instead of stressing out, embrace it.

A true lesson in urban renewal, the High Line is built on an abandoned railroad line elevated above Manhattan’s west side. Running from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to Midtown’s W. 34th Street, the High Line has quickly claimed its place in the hearts of New Yorkers and visitors. Dotted along the grated overpass are food stalls, restaurant pop-ups and magnificent overlooks. To do it best, go on a Tuesday and amble along until you find Terroir, a wine bar near 15th Street. Grab a glass of vino at dusk, and then make your way a couple blocks south to hook up with the Amateur Astronomers Association stargazers who’ve set up telescopes and offer explanations of what’s going on in the sky.
Recommended for Free Things to Do because: It’s the perfect place to feel like you’re still in the action but away from the madness below.
Andrea’s expert tip: If you’re able to swing it, go during the week and avoid the weekend crowds.

Despite All the Talk, Covid Vaccination Does Not Infect People With Shingles
“For #Covid vaccines, shingles and even more dangerous and painful skin conditions may be the new thrombocytopenia”
Alex Berenson in a Facebook post, April 19
Posts are showing up all over social media tying covid-19 vaccinations to shingles and other painful skin disorders.
The source of one such post was Alex Berenson, an author and vaccine critic whose posts are sometimes cited for misinformation.
Tumblr media
This story was produced in partnership with PolitiFact. It can be republished for free.
Berenson posted — first on Twitter, which then found its way to Facebook — a photo of a man covered in a severe rash. The man, according to the post, blamed the skin outbreak on a covid vaccination he had weeks earlier. The post also included unsubstantiated information purported to be from the man’s doctors, indicating a likely diagnosis of a type of rash usually triggered by medications or infections, such as herpes simplex. It led Berenson to draw the conclusion that “for #Covid vaccines, shingles and even more dangerous and painful skin conditions may be the new thrombocytopenia.” That is a reference to a low blood platelet condition reported among some people who experienced blood clots after getting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its news feed. (Read more about PolitiFact’s partnership with Facebook.)
Without more information, it’s impossible to know whether the picture was as described, or what might have led to the man’s condition. We reached out to Berenson by email, but he did not respond. However, in a related Twitter thread, Berenson went on to discuss a study conducted in Israel that looked at six shingles cases occurring post-vaccination in a group of about 500 people with immune disorders.
The small Israeli study drew wide attention on social media and other outlets, and currently is the most-read article in the British Medical Journal’s Rheumatology. Some outlets, including the New York Post, ran stories on its findings, often with misleading headlines.
That got us wondering: How strong is the science behind this connection?
First, a Little Background
Shingles, also called herpes zoster, occurs in people who had chickenpox, a virus that causes itchy blisters. (Shingles can be prevented by the two-dose Shingrix vaccine.)
After a person recovers from chickenpox, the varicella-zoster virus that causes it can lie dormant in the body, and then reactivate years or decades later in the form of shingles. Both are part of the herpes virus family, which includes herpes simplex Types 1 and 2.
Type 1 commonly causes “cold” sores around the mouth and lips and is spread by kissing or sharing things like toothbrushes. Type 2 can cause genital herpes, which is spread via sexual contact.
Among the things that can reactivate these dormant herpes viruses are stress, drugs that suppress the immune system or simply aging.
Now, Back to Those Social Media Posts
Neither the picture of the man with a rash or the findings of the small study in Israel prove cause and effect. In other words, just because a rash follows a vaccine by days or weeks does not mean the vaccine caused the rash.
Dr. William Schaffner, a professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, said it’s natural for people to link events that occur within a short span of time, but he stressed it doesn’t prove causality.
“Just because B follows A doesn’t mean A causes B,” he said.
In considering whether there are links between a treatment and a side effect, researchers often follow two large groups of similar people, one group getting a particular medication or vaccine, the other not. If the vaccinated or medicated individuals experience a side effect at a greater rate than those not treated, there may be a connection.
Safety is also monitored by tracking data on reported side effects.
In the United States, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System includes unverified reports from patients, doctors and others about possible illnesses or symptoms that occur following immunizations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention watches those reports.
“So far, the data indicates that shingles and herpes are not occurring at an increased rate in the vaccinated population,” said Schaffner, who encourages people who get a rash of any kind — or shingles — following vaccination to report it through that system.
But What About That Israeli Study?
Even its authors said it was not designed to find a cause and effect.
Instead, the study followed 491 people — all of whom were being treated for underlying autoimmune inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, making them more susceptible to shingles in general.
Out of those, six women ages 36 to 61 developed shingles in the days and weeks after they received the Pfizer vaccination, for a prevalence rate of 1.2%.
The researchers noted in their article that vaccine-related reactivation of shingles has been seen with other vaccines, such as those for influenza, hepatitis A and rabies. But there were no reports of herpes-related rashes in the clinical trials for covid-19 vaccines.
In the study, most of the cases were mild, five occurred after the first dose, and all five of those women went on to have their second dose with no additional adverse effects. The researchers said their observations cannot prove causality but should prompt “further vigilance and safety monitoring of COVID-19 vaccination side effects.”
Some media outlets, including the New York Post, ran headlines such as “Herpes Infection Possibly Linked to Covid-19, Study Says.”
That’s simply “clickbait,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.
No one is getting infected with herpes from vaccinations, he said. “What the anti-vax community is doing is giving the impression that vaccinations are giving people herpes, which is simply not true.”
Adalja objects to the headline and effort to scare people, but he also said it is plausible, if yet unproven, that vaccination could reactivate an existing herpes zoster virus.
Other types of rashes and injection-site redness have certainly been reported by people who have received a covid-19 vaccine.
Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, for example, reported on a group of 12 patients who had rashes that appeared four to 11 days after getting their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. Ice and antihistamines were used to treat most of the patients, half of whom experienced a rash again after the second shot.
And there have been reports on social media and in the press of people reporting similar rashes following vaccination. Still, experts say those rashes may simply be a sign that the immune system is working.
Such rashes are “pretty innocuous and easily treated,” said Adalja.
Our Ruling
An online post claims the covid-19 vaccines cause shingles or other dangerous skin conditions.
Although it contains a sliver of truth, it ignores important information. For instance, the evidence to date indicates this is an area to continue monitoring, but no direct link has been established between covid vaccination and shingles or other serious skin conditions.
The study cited was not intended to prove cause and effect, and it was looking at patients who already had suppressed immune systems that made them more likely to get shingles whether they had a vaccination or not.
We rate this statement Mostly False.

Name/Alias: Robyn Pronouns: She/Her Age: 25 Timezone: PST Activity: 6 Triggers: None Password: Art Character that you’re applying for: Clyde Favourite ships for your character: Cryde, Clendy, Stolovan, but willing to try any ships
in character info
Full name: Clyde Donovan Birthday: April 10th Sexuality, gender, pronouns:  Bisexual, Male, He/him Age and grade: 19 Senior year Appearance: Messy, thick chestnut brown hair that he rarely cuts. Usually it just lays on his head going in whatever direction it feels Rarely brushed. In the rare moments he does cut it, it usually ends up spiking up a bit due to his refusal to brush it, his eyes are wide and covered with a shade of emerald green. Thick looking lashes to complement them.
He’s athletic, yet still is on the chubby side to give him a kind of baby face. He’s about 5'10 in height without shoes on. Usually goes around with a big smile on his face, unless he’s crying.Head is more of an oval shape that gives the more baby face appearance to him. Has crooked teeth due to not taking good enough care of them, he never went to the dentist to get this fixed. Freckles litter his nose and cheeks, usually more obvious during the summer. Has a Cafe-au-lait birthmark on his right shoulder and one testicle. There are a couple scars that mark on his side and on his face from accidents as a kid. He almost never takes off his Letterman jacket and usually wears a white or black shirt under it. If not one of those two, than a shirt that has some form of meme. Jeans are his pants of choice along with a pair of clean looking vans since he switches his shoes out for new ones whenever they get dirty. Personality:
Has a pretty relaxed attitude about everything that happens, especially when it comes to the weird things that seem to occur as he considers them to be normal for the town. So he barely gives it a second thought. He can be very trusting of others, even going as far as to trust Cartman from time to time. He loves to do things that he considers to be fun, even when dangerous. Very short attention span as he can jump from topic to topic quickly or space out during a conversation. There are rare moments where he will get angry and even this will surprise himself.  Though, he can also be overly sensitive, he can get stressed quickly in certain circumstances. Especially when arguments arise. He rather deal with things peacefully rather than violently. But on occasion, if the situation requires it, he will jump into a fight. Especially when he feels his friends need help. He’ll stand up for them regardless of how he feels about it. He can also be extremely gullible and fall for the smallest lies that someone tells him. Can also be a major cry baby when it comes to certain topics of things that happen and has the tenancy to just break down into tears. History:
April 10th at 3:00Am, Clydes mother gave birth to him in the back of her husband’s van. An entire month earlier than they were expecting to have him. He was born 17 inches long and 5.5 pounds. After a quick trip to the hospital for them to look over clyde, he was finally taken home. From there, they raised him as well as they could. Teaching him right and wrong throughout his younger life.
Starting in preschool and Kindergarten, He was already being perceived as a cry baby by the other students, crying at almost everything that happened. This was also around the time he had met some of his closest friends. Playing and doing stupidly reckless kids stuff with whoever he felt like hanging around with that day.
Around the age of 5 he had gotten a colostomy and had to wear a bag from that point on. This was kept a secret by him until his guidance counselor in elementary school decided to announce it over the loud speaker for all the students to hear. Elementary was also when he started getting into dating girls such as Bebe Stevens and reading porn magazines.
During the time of his mothers death, Clyde’s dad decided it would be better for him to see a therapist to help him cope with the fact he accidentally and unintentionally caused his own mothers death. He goes to see the therapist at least once a week during this time.
During middle school Clyde started getting more serious into sports and this was also when his voice started changing in the funniest way as his voice always cracked every time he said something. His face would always be broken out as well. He never speaks of these years that much. Around when he started high school he would get more out there in the dating scene and improving on his sex life. Partying when he can and just being a hoe. He is always getting himself into more dangerous situations, just from doing his own stupid stunts. His dad never let him attempt to get a driver’s license yet during this age and to this day he still has no drivers license. He does however still play in basketball, giving up football his junior year.
Sample paragraph:
It had been far too long since he was last here, the air still felt the same as he entered into the place he’d been avoiding for months. It was always so heartwrenching to visit, but, it also gave more closure since it happened. The air felt so cold today, the fallen snow surrounding the gray colored gravestone, almost covering the worlds ‘here lies Betsy Donovan’ Green eyes were foused on it for the longest time before- FUCK There it is, he couldn’t fight back those tears anymore, they overwhelmed him. Upon arrival he collapsed to his knees and stared at the snow covered gravestone in front of him. It’d been 2 years. It shouldn’t hurt this much still, should it? The ache in his chest, the tears that burned to fall down his face. God, he felt like such a wuss. “H-Hey mom. I’m sorry I haven’t visited in a while. You know.. I just.. I started teaching kids basketball this year. The kids have been great listeners and learners” He said as he sniffled, wiping his nose with the sleeve of his jacket. More sobs were choked back as he searched for more to say. “Dad has been doing pretty good too, his new girlfriend has been keeping him company, but i think he does still miss you.“ “Mom.. I wish I could take everything back.. we could be like before. I know I shouldn’t still hurt this much but.. oh god.. I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry!” He cried out, giving into all his emotions before finally collapsing face down on the ground. Some would say ghosts aren’t real, but that day, as he cried there in the snow, he could almost feel the arms of someone wrapped around him in a hug. The familiar embrace of someone he loved who was long gone forever. Headcanons: -He quit therapy at the start of senior -One of his hobbies is dirt biking. Though he doesn’t do this as often as he’d like  -Willing to do over the top crazy stunts just for a rush of adrenaline, no matter how dangerous  -He actually keeps the green goo from the stick of truth game in his dad’s basement. He’s yet to tell anyone about it -Can be pretty stupid on more than a few occasions  -/LOVES/ Tacos and also enjoys hot wings and any other kind of fast food  -He has a kitten named Chalupa -He tends to be extremely gullible, believing things if he doesn’t know any better. Unless it involves the people he’s closest too, then he’ll most likely dismiss whatever was said as false.  -His older sister’s name is Bonnie Anything else: N/A

This problem is common between teenage and middle aged people. But it can strike up at any age. Update your knowledge on cluster headache attacks in this blog. If diagnosed, seek the services of the best neuro doctor’s clinic. Read on to find out more.
1. Symptoms
A cluster headache usually occurs without any warning. However, doctors have claimed to find certain conditions are developed that can give us the signs and symptoms of the cluster headache attack according to clinics. Such as:
Pain behind or around one eye. It might flow to other areas of your face.
Restlessness
Excessive tearing
On a particular side there might be redness or swelling in your eye, stuffy nose, or facial sweating.
Your skin gets pale.
Drooping eyelid on the concerned side
Flashing of light in front of your eye just before headache attacks. Clinics state that this is a common symptom between people having a migraine.
If you find these symptoms or conditions, seek the services of the Best Neurology Specialist at once.
2. Causes
According to various clinic research, Mind Specialist Doctors find that cluster headaches can be caused by the following issues:
The pain is insinuated by the dilation of the blood vessels that are responsible for transporting blood to the brain and face. Due to dilation, there is a pressure that builds upon the trigeminal nerve, which happens to transmit sensations from the face to the brain. It is undiscovered by clinics why the dilation occurs.
The abnormalities with the hypothalamus can cause cluster headaches. It is a small area of the brain that regulates body temperature, blood pressure, sleep, and release of hormones.
They can be caused by a sudden increase in the production of chemical histamine or serotonin.
3. Types of Cluster Headaches
There are two types of cluster headaches according to Neurology Specialists:
Episodic Cluster Headaches
They occur regularly within one week and one year. Succeeded by a headache-free period of at least a month or several months. Pain usually occurs at night.
Chronic Cluster Headaches
