Responsibility for public health was now understood to be a task for government, not just for working-class women who – until then – had been the only ones concerned with the cleanliness of slum houses, the only ones asking for clean water and working drains.
Tumblr media
One such working-class woman was Kitty Wilkinson, an Irish migrant in Liverpool who had been a cotton mill worker and a domestic servant. She opened up her laundry business to her poor neighbours for a penny a week, allowing them to use her boiler and bleach to disinfect their clothes during the 1832 cholera epidemic. She became known as the 'saint of the slums' and campaigned for public bathhouses for the poor.

(elders' tour part 3) Vanilla Sugar hits it off with Cotton Cookie, having been a shepherdess herself once. Sable stumbles upon a performance by either Mint Choco or Parfait. Canele hears about the time Pure Vanilla turned into a coin from a rainbow shroomie and she finds it funny. Mille-feuille meets the local children and decides "I must bring the orphans here next time for a play-date with these kids!" Mulled Juice goes to the juice bar.
More I see. I love it.
*The scene is set in the Parfait District of the Cookie Kingdom. The tour is about to take a break and the Elders are chatting with the residents of the Kingdom.*
*Vanilla Sugar and Cotton are surrounded with sheep.*
Vanilla Sugar: You help with the sheep in the kingdom?
Cotton: Yes! I always make sure they have a comfy rest spot and that they are always fed.
Vanilla Sugar: *smiles* Good to know sheep care is still alive.
*Meanwhile Sablé just finished listening to the duet between Parfait and Mint Choco.*
Sablé: What beauty! To hear both modern and classic merge as one...it's unlike anything I've ever heard!
Parfait: Thank you so much! We worked really hard on it!
Mint Choco: Yes, and we have another in the works.
*Meanwhile Canelé and Pure Vanilla were talking about the time he turned into a coin.*
Canelé: So...You got turned into a coin after you ate a rainbow shroomie?
Pure Vanilla: Yes...
Canelé: ...*trying not to laugh* How much...do you think you were worth?
*Meanwhile Mille-feuille is gushing over the young Cookies.*
Mille-feuille: Oh, look at all of you! So cute!! I must bring the orphans here next time for a play date with these kids!
*Meanwhile Mulled Juice disappeared into Sparkling's bar.*
Mulled Juice: What a wonderful drink! I can feel the inspiration flowing through me! I need to write all them down!
Sparkling: (This is the weirdest drunk I've ever seen. But at least he didn't destroy my bar.)

Share an out-of-context part of your WIP.
“That is fine,” Zevran said. “It should not take long. Death is contained in the span of a single heartbeat. Anything else is pointless excess.”
“Oh… well. Good to know you are not a sadist,” Consuelo said.
Share a cursed fact you’ve learned while writing your WIP.
Mule spinner's cancer was a scrotal cancer and an occupational hazard of cotton mule-spinners in the 1800s, due to the mineral oils used on the spindles of old mechanized cotton looms. 'The spindles, when running, threw out a mist of oil at crotch height, that was captured by the clothing of anyone piecing an end.'

So, for the ask game: 5, 14 and 15 maybe?
5. Anything you haven’t drawn yet but want to?
Another comic.. About a young girl who who meets a large, kind, wolf. The story has a beginning and and end, but I haven't figured out the middle yet. But when I do HEHEHE.... It's gonna be sad.
14. How has your art changed over the years?
Oh boy, it changed a LOT. I went from drawing nearly exclusively edgy anime boys in middle and high school, to completely ditching anime but still drawing characters all the time, to actually drawing environments more than people.
My style changed a lot too. I think today I draw in a much more graphic, illustrative style. Kind of european comics inspired. Compared to my old thinking of "it's only good if it looks like the art on magic the gathering cards" (which it never did). I often just use one (two if I'm filling fancy!) additional colour, rather than fully colouring every artwork. Truth is, many of my illustrations don't actually need colour! There's so much more WHITE (or blank paper) on my art now, and I use it in much smarter ways. It actually adds to the composition now, rather than just be space I didn't bother filling out.
If you fancy a trip down memory lane, scroll all the way down on my instagram, or my art blog down to my pre uni days. it's different.
15. Biggest artist pet peeve?
You're adding too many details with your white gel pen, and it's making things look shiny that aren't supposed to be. You're buying art supplies with cute packaging that are garbage in quality (looking at you Himi Jelly Guache!). The same white girl with vacant expression on a blank background does not evoke as deep of a meaning as you think it does. You say your nude photographs don't come from a place of sexualising your subject, yet you photograph exclusively young skinny women (r/analog....). Shirts don't fold in between boobs like that. You're adding too many labels to your political cartoon. I can tell the person is being used as bait, because they're hanging from the end of a hook. No need to write "bait" on them in addition.
I'm gonna stop here before I make this post a mile long...
