Here's part 2 to my 2023 crochet recap!
Tumblr media
Mittens I made for someone's baby sister. I made similar ones in blue for the kid I babysit sometimes
May? I think may.
~ • ~
Tumblr media
My first ever actual clothing item, a crochet shrug! (Yes it's on my matress.)
This was made around the end of May for my best friend, and she loved it (she looks amazing in it)
~ • ~
Tumblr media
Cat ear beanie with ruffled brim rather than folded, for the same friend that the shrug was for. One of her favourites ^^
July-August, I believe, but I'm really not positive
~ • ~
Tumblr media
A maple leaf because, fun fact, I love maple leaves, and have been wanting to make one for ages, and finally got the thread yarn to make it. It didn't turn out exactly how I'd hoped, but I still think it's cute ^^
About August timeframe
~ • ~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Potholders, hot pads, whatever you call them, things that you can put a hot pan on so it doesn't burn your table. I made three colour variations of circles and squares
June-July
~ • ~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Keychains! My first time actually making keychains, and they turned out pretty well! The jellyfish was a commission (they loved it!) And the mushrooms were based off of me and my best friend, because my hair was split dyed, and she wanted one that would be pink because part of her hair is pink
All made in July-August
~ • ~
Tumblr media
Two pairs of dragon scale fingerless gloves. I'd shared the colourful ones before, but not the gray ones, but both pairs have scales on only one side so that they're still usable.
January-February?
~ • ~
Tumblr media
I made a bunch of these, mesh bucket hats, while I was at a camp, intending on selling them and having them be cheaper since they're mesh. They didn't sell, but they look pretty cool!
July ^^
I'm gonna have to make another part oh goodness I'm so sorry

Spooky Season Crochet
Hello fellow yarn crafters. As an avid crocheter and with spooky season my favorite time of the year on its way it is time to prepare. I have created a list of patterns that to me have the vibes of the season. Some I have made and others I have not.
Crescent Moon - A crescent moon granny square. There is errata for the pattern. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Krampus Hat - A really cool kranpus hat with horns and braids. I have made this hat twice and it needs an errata. The loops on the hat to create the wool texture should only be every other row or it ends up too dense to see. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Striped Pumpkins - An interesting twist on the classic pumpkin. Uses two colours to make a vertical stripped pumpkin. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Maple Leaf Coasters - These are a very easy to make coaster, bunting, wreath decorations, or add on for fall themed hats. I used it decorate a pumpkin hat. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Leaf Coaster - A simple leaf shaped coaster. Would make a nice decoration or add on for bunting or wreaths. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Witch Hat - A simple witch hat. Aran weight yarn, free pattern.
Gourds - Different shaped gourds and pumpkin shapes. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Pretty Pumpkins - My go to pattern for making pumpkin decorations. I love these simple pumpkins for decorations. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Eyeballs! - This is a video pattern and they make great stash busters. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Pumpkin Hat - This is a cute and easy toddler and baby sized hat. The basic pumpkin shape I like to fancy up with a leaf decoration or scalloped edge. Worsted weight yarn, free pattern.
Skull shawl/Döskallesjal - I love this skull design shawl so much. It is my very favorite crochet project I have ever made. Sport weight yarn, free.

Adapting a leaf pattern from its original (far left) "maple leaf" shape to get a leaf that looks more cucurbit-shaped (from left to right).
Original pattern (free!): Maple Leaf by Nicole Riley
I don't have much experience with this style of crochet (it seems to be called "Irish crochet" for appliques and motifs), so it was neat to play with the pattern and see what happened!
I think I've arrived at a leaf that looks both true to nature, but stylised enough to also be quickly recognisable (and remaining fairly easy to crochet). During this journey, I also realised that the grape leaf shape is my personal platonic ideal of an "autumn leaf" shape--though, granted, there is much variation in cultivated grape leaf shapes!
I'm making these leaves to adorn my pumpkin berets.
