The prologue to ReVision, a little Genshin Impact fancomic that was a long time in the making. Some notes:
ReVision began in a moment of incredible frustration with Genshin Impact's writing and lore. As it stands, now, I wouldn't call ReVision a rewrite. I am not a professional writer nor do I do not know the full plans for the story of Genshin Impact in the future and how it may impact my opinion on past writing beats. Consider this an AU.
World and character lore will be somewhat to vastly different, as well as the personalities of several characters. This was intentional. Again, imagine ReVision is what happened when I snuck into Mihiyo and moved all their plot furniture two inches to the left.
With that said, I hope you stick around to read the next installments of ReVision.
“my understanding of fight scenes, and i've talked about this with the director, is that a martial artist is a sage. if i fight you, why do i fight? i don't fight for the sake of fighting. it's more of a creative expression, it expresses a character's personality, it's a different state of mind. when the audience watches a fight scene, they (should) get why the character is fighting and what their state of mind is in that moment”
I first fell for Cheng Yi's acting in Love and Redemption. One of my favorite scenes is where Sifeng fights his evil self to escape from the Tower of Oblivion. He really doesn't stop serving face during fight scenes and treats it as another means of creative expression for the character. The desperation from Sifeng contrasting with the malicious glee from his evil self was just *chef's kiss*.
He does this in MLC as well where the brilliant fight choreographer + the actors were able to show the audience so many different flavors of fight scenes.
Winner-take-all (aka foreplay between 2 martial arts masters)
From what I understand, your advice is that we shouldn't stick to just one version of a story or consider it the true version. And that a story has several versions. And these versions do not make one less than the other. Like, we can choose one version of the story as long as we understand that there are more versions.
Hello!
Yes this is precisely it. It’s very easy to assume that one way a story is told is the only valid version, but it also neglects how it historically was shared and retold - regardless of if deities are involved. Of course people are allowed to express favoritism, myself having moved from Wuhan, I prefer Wuhanese storytelling.
Did you know there’s roughly 360 different types of regional Chinese Opera that coexist? And with such a large variation in a specific area of performing arts, there’s bound to be more variation in nearly anything else.
Myself and the study of Nezha/Nalakubara has led me down many many different rabbit holes into how he was spread across east and southeast Asia. He appears in India, China, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Tibet, and very likely many other places I have yet to know. It would be very ignorant of me to assume the Chinese Daoist method of worship to be the only acceptable kind - and downright shameful to dismiss how other countries worship him.
It’s a lengthy answer, but I hope I was able to convey my feelings and personal thoughts properly.
One of my favourite things about Li Lianhua's character has to be his sword dancing. First off, I love how it looks. It's so fluid and elegant, but also kind of untamed, so it's really entrancing to watch. But mostly, I love how Li Lianhua seems to process his emotions through dancing. He dances when he feels overwhelmed with grief, with betrayal, with anger, but he also (as we've seen in the past with Li Xiangyi) dances when he's at his happiest.
When you think about it like that, it hurts even more that he destroyed Shaoshi. He's throwing away one of the only outlets he's ever had.
Fang duobing may be well known as a notorious fanboy from his weekly kpop random play dance vlog with su xiaoyong and the princess, but not many know when the night is gloom, with a drizzle outside of the window, and their secondhand room heater buzzing in the background, he will play some old love song from his mom cd collection. A ballad, slow rock, country music, and jazz.
Sometimes it will turn into a small karaoke time. Another day, like that one, li lianhua will sneakily dim the light and Fang duobing will pull A-fei from the comfort of his couch to a slow dance in the living room. The older man usually let out a snort but he will never refuse. It always be a pleasant experience, to each one of them, something warm and sweet. Di feisheng know his move and graceful enough to lead the step, for all the rough work that man do, he have this gentle touch hidden beneath many layers of scowl and glare. It makes fang duobing a little bit giddy when he stare.
It is late at night, warm tickling his skin, seeping through their fingers and crawling near the tip of his ear. The smell of soup wafting in the air, li lianhua leaning in the counter with amused smile, hand still holding a ladle, dripping. The note of violin flowing sofly, their swing, easy with grace perfectly in sync. We should do this more often, fang duobing think.
I’m going to be radically honest for a second here like. I have naturally big boobs, and I don’t always know what to do with them. I don’t know how to dress myself properly. Sometimes I’ll buy a low cut blouse cause it’s cute but then I’ll wear it and. Everything will just be out there. And I’ll still wear the shirt anyway because, you know, it’s a cute shirt and I want to wear cute things!
Anyway. I just know that if for whatever reason, I got kidnapped by a Zero, it would be on the day of a poorly-conceived fashion disaster, and then all the fan artists would be like “Ew her outfit is bad and I’m fixing it” and I don’t like that thought.
