The Manslaughter of Maisie Smith

On 26th August 2000, four-week-old Maisie Smith’s father, Dean Smith, was frustrated at being left to look after Maisie, he had shouted at her mother ‘Don’t leave me with a f***ing screaming baby for hours.’ He had also been heard referring to his daughter as ‘the b**ch.’ Smith grew increasingly angry with baby Maisie’s crying and threw her across the room where she collided with a wooden cot, this resulted in a fractured skull and traumatic brain injuries. Smith then smoked, drank beer and played video games. Maisie was rushed to hospital later that day but was left permanently brain damaged from the attack. She was cared for by adopted parents, and died at home with them on 28th June 2014, just before her 14th birthday. Her death was a result of her injuries.

In February 2021, Dean Smith was charged with manslaughter and sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.

This is my drawing of Dean Smith from It's A Terrible Life Verse on May 29th 2020. On my birthday on May 19th, I received a red sketchbook as one of the presents from my Mom. I didn’t know what to draw. 

Then few days later, I saw a clip from the episode 4x17 of Supernatural: It’s A Terrible Life. And I thought, “Hey! How about I draw Dean Smith in my art style?” And I did. 

Sure, the drawing itself was tough, but he was worth it.
