Rhythm Generation

It's been 5 years since we released the first of what would become known as the "Rythm Generation" Gundam Wing fanzine project. For about 4 years, the fandom came together to share some really phenomenal fan creations - art, fic, meta, traditional crafts, and more.

Although the project has ended, I did want to share past publications for those who missed out. Each one of the zines was a labor of love, and I want to again thank everyone who participated--as moderators and contributors.

So jump down below the cutline and take a gander. Link to download page at bottom.

2019 Rhythm Generation (released May 4, 2019): A fandom zine for the Gundam Wing After Colony universe and a celebration of the fandom that has been 20+ years and counting. It featured written and graphical fandom work which provided depth and breadth to the AC universe and the world of Gundam Wing. The collection included a wide array of world building meta, articles, art, and graphics focused on science, politics, society, and art from the fandom’s resident experts and enthusiasts which highlight the creative dynamism that underpins the AC universe. There were several charities for this publication.

2020 Rhythm Generation (released April 7, 2020): An unofficial 25th anniversary fandom zine for Gundam Wing and is a creative celebration of the After Colony universe and the fandom family itself. The anthology showcased a wealth of fandom content in celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary: from fanfic and fanart to cosplay and gunpla to meta, tech specs, and fandom history. The project included both a core zine—Shooting Stars—with a generalized focused on the fandom and a bonus zine—The Measure of a Year—which featured content centered around the crowd-sourced theme of “Seasons.” The chosen charity for this publication was War Child

2021 Rhythm Generation (released October 1, 2021): The 2021 Rhythm Generation Gundam Wing fandom zine—East of the Sun, West of the Moon—featured canon-compliant, canon-divergent, and alternative universe explorations and retellings of classic fairytales, folklore, mythology, vast epics, urban legends, and even cryptids. The anthology included a wide variety of both SFW and NSFW fan content—so tread carefully!—to include stories, art, and other fanwork. The 2021 chosen charity was World Literacy Foundation

2023 Rhythm Generation (released July 1, 2023): The 2023 Rhythm Generation Gundam Wing fandom zine returned to the two-part structure celebrating canon and alternate universe fanworks. The main zine—Battle Scars—centered on the Gundam Wing characters as they move on with their lives after a major event. The bonus zine—Kitchen Cabinets—featured fanworks with a tasty twist plus sprites and recipes as digital swag! The chosen charity was The Hunger Project

The Gilded Age's Broadway Divas MASTERPOST

Welcome to my passion project. It has come to my attention that some viewers of HBO's The Gilded Age are unfamiliar with the extensive theatre credits, alcoates, and vocal talents many of the actors possess. As the resident Broadway Diva expert, it is my responsibility to fix that.

Pictured: 20 Tony Awards and 52 nominations. Audra McDonald...well, she kind of inflates the numbers a little. Edit: Justice for Tony winner Debra Monk. She's main cast.

Introducing my new series of blog posts where I will be highlighting two theatre veterans per day in the lead-up to our much-anticipated season two finale episode.

This series will heavily focus on a select few musical performances that are widely available for viewing, in addition to a brief career rundown. I will be limiting myself to no more than five videos per Diva, otherwise we'd be here for a lifetime. These performances will include popular songs and hidden gems alike, all curated to specifically show off the actress's considerable range in the theatre, especially juxtaposed against their roles in the show.

With respect to Michael Cerveris, Nathan Lane, and the other theatre gentlemen, I will be focusing this series on the women because I am a lesbian and this show is about the women, dammit. But fear not, they will most certainly be making appearances throughout because everyone has worked with everyone on stage.

"You're not following!" Wufei explodes, dropping her hands. "Stop fucking around and follow my lead!"

"Make me!" Dorothy shoots back. She pushes away from him and stalks across the dance studio to her water bottle, a long blade of distain for him. Wufei grinds his teeth. Of all people... "I'm only doing this for Une as a favour," she reminds him, "But don't think that means I'll do less than I'm capable of performing. If you want me to dance, then you need to do far better." Bitterness floods Wufei's mouth. This is bullshit. If it weren't for a mission, he'd have put an exit hole in the wall by now. He curses Une, curses Barton, Maxwell and Winner and every other man who ought to be standing here instead of him, and mainly curses whoever taught Dorothy to dance. She's violently talented.

"Again." He demands. No surrender. "Why? You're boring me."

"Again!"

"Une should fire you and let me hire my own partner. I could do this mission single-handed and not have to waste my time rehearsing your incompetant footwork."

"Catalonia!"

"I'm not deaf. You know," she continues airily, stretching, "It's a pity the target doesn't dance Standard. You'd excel in routines where you're supposed to look like you have a stick up your-" She yelps when he grabs her arm and drags her back to their first position mark.

"Shut up and dance."

"Are you going to get blocks for your shoes? It looks so ridiculous, you being shorter than me."

"If you put as much energy into this as being a bitch-"

"I can multitask," she cuts in, acidically sweet, and there's a sparkle in her eye that implicates her in the sin of enjoying herself. And because she knows that he knows and she still wants the last word, she drops her hand and pinches his ass, making him flinch upright. "Bottom in, now, clean posture, Chang."

"Are you finished?"

"Am I? I thought we were starting from the top."

She smirks although the next iteration of their choreography, fighting him every inch for the lead. He fights back, blood roaring in his ears, knowing at least he has more stamina than she does. But by the end of it, she's bored and irritated again. "This has to work," he says, when they finally quit rehearsals. Dorothy gives him an arch look. "It has to," Wufei insists. "If you're such an expert, advise me."

She purses her lips, looking him up and down. "That hinges on it being anything you're actually able to resolve." He's about to argue again, when she shrugs, turning flippant. "Very well. You have the ego and the physical strength and flexibility to dance."

Her hair swishes behind her as she advances on him, words like needles. "But you lack everything else. You're not charming. You're not seductive. You're not romantic. You have no sense of fun. You don't play games. You wield any dry, underused sex appeal you possibly could have have like a dead fish. You don't perform and you're not in love with your body."

He hates to gratify her by blushing, but it rises up out of his chest like a scald.

"You suck." Dorothy concludes. "That's just who you are."

Mulish instinct makes him say, "It's not."

This delights her. She walks off laughing, uncaring, snagging her sportsbag lightly in one hand as she goes.

"Oh? Well I look very much forward to seeing you prove it. Ta-ta!"

Witch.

Wufei steams. He practices alone, furiously, until he's forced to admit that raking himself over the coals is not unearthing any answer to her challenge.

He slumps down by the wall and, in the middle of the night, is unapologetic about waking Trowa with a phone call.

"My help?" Barton says, blearily. "I can't dance. I broke an ankle, that's the whole reason-"

"Not the dance," Wufei cuts him off. "I don't need you to do backflips for me. Something else. I need discreet advice."

Trowa's silence revererates with curiosity. Wufei decides that's no bad thing. "Come to the studio," he demands without explanation and hangs up. Alone, he stands in front of the mirror.

Relena got an opportunity for her Political Career that said she had to invite Dorothy to a party. So I came up with the headcanon that because Duo is Mars president but didn't grow up in the world of socialites and fancy dress, he asks (begs) Relena to organize a social party for the Earth's president's Mars visit.

I like to imagine that Dorothy would stir Duo up pretending to declare war and such lmao. She doesn't mean it of course, but she still enjoys watching others squirm to make her happy.

Anyways here are some pics from the party!

Naturally, right off the bat Mariemaia and Dorothy get into a heated discussion. Lady Une and Zechs are in the background reading and trying their best not to get involved.

Doctor J wasn't even invited but like the "weed" he is decided to show up anyway.

Heero and Duo are chatting about kids in the back there. Duo offering great advice on how Fenrir was an absolute tyrant growing up (the years he new him lol) but parenthoods all worth it in the end. "Just wait until Selena and Hiruko reach their teens" lmao.

That's Milou in the front but I think he disappeared to read somewhere lol.

Of you're wondering why Relena's dress is like that it comes from this official art, and yes it does look that bad 😂

Lady Une coming over to chat with the guys, along with Doctor J (knowing very well both Heero and Duo hate him 😂)

This was around Christmas time so it doubles as an anniversary of the Eve Wars as well as the Mariemaia War. It is also why Selena is in her cute Christmas dress ❤.

Relena doing her bit as peacekeeper and intervening between Dorothy and Mariemaia. Party crisis averted.

Mission Complete.

Also lol at Heero's "Dr J" thought bubble. "Why is he even here?".

Dr J is just talking about Christmas, probably trying to explain that that's why he's there and no alterior motives like, a new mission for Heero after all these years (The answer will be no x).
