So, since Dracula Daily is over now, here's a recommendation for everyone who isn't prepared to let go of it yet:

Dracula 3: The Path Of The Dragon

It's a video game (point and click) from 2008, with pretty decent graphics and quite challenging puzzles to solve.

But most of all, it has an amazing storyline. In 1920, young Father Arno Moriani is sent to the village Vladoviste to gather information about the recently deceased Dr Martha Calugarul, who is meant to be canonized. However, Arno finds soon that there was a series of strange deaths in the village, that Martha believed to be the work of a vampire ...

Even though it is the third game in the Dracula series, it's narratively unrelated to its 2 predecessors (not that I'm stopping you from checking those out, too. They provide a direct follow-up to the events of the novel).

However, Path Of The Dragon is definitely the best in the series. It's super atmospheric and provides a lot of interesting historical stuff as well as cool new aspects of vampire lore and especially Dracula as a character.

In short, it's an amazing game and deserves some recognition.

here's my very all over the place feelings on certain aspects of baldur's gate 3 as a romani immigrant. warnings for spoilers of course. mind you i have not finished the game yet!

1. i really can't believe there aren't more people talking about the very blatant racism in astarion's questline. im quite sure it's because the game already touches on it, even giving you the choice to call astarion a racist, and also because everytime we roma talk about anything that makes us uncomfortable we're immediately shunned and "well actually!"'d.

the problem is that it feels Extra icky because the man who was the inspiration for the original dracula, Vlad the Impaler, kept romani slaves. this is the ONLY part of vampire history that, no matter how different the media, will always stay relevant for some reason.

castlevania has the seekers, a nomadic group of magic users who pass their history down orally. while they are *mostly* treated well, the first arc of the show literally shows them being hunted out of town for the simple act of existing.

vampire the masquerade... well.. that's an entire other can of racism worms.

curse of strahd has the "vistani", a nomadic group of people who are treated like third class citizens everywhere they go, and are of course, most known for being tarot readers and drunkards.

the vampire diaries have the "travellers", who get called "gypsies" explicitly as a derogatory word by other vampires.

i want you to take any vampire media you enjoy and ask yourself, "is there anti-roma racism in this?". i guarantee you, if you look for it, you're going to find it. for SOME reason, the only thing that stays consistent with all these different vampire IPs, is that romani people are hated and scrutinized at every moment of their lives.

i MORE than understand that astarion's racial insensitivity is part of him. it's part of what makes him malleable by the player. you can help him understand why he's wrong, or you can lead him down a worse path.

i still reserve the right to feel some sort of way about astarion sacrificing fantasy-romani children for power, willingly. don't get me wrong, he's my favourite character, right up there with halsin. which is why i obviously have so many feelings about this.

(yes, the Gur were written inspired by romani people, if you were not aware)

2. the anti-immigrant sentiment is such an inherent part of the story that i did not think was going to stick around for SO long. i dont really have much to say about this, i think i should've expected it. as a fan of dragon age (i know, tragic) i'm quite used to unnecessary fantasy racism everywhere i go, i just hoped it wouldn't be part of the main crucial story.

3. larian studios i am so so so thankful for the halsin romance. eternally. forever and ever. he's my pookie bear and i'm so grateful some extra time was made to create a romance for him.

can i ask you why the hell does halsin want to LEAVE. At The End. i've noticed how much he contradicts himself throughout his questline and i just... I don't know. i've seen some other people complaining about how non-chalantly he talks about being a sex slave and i understand too, but i think it's part of his character to not take the horrible things that happened to him seriously like he does with others. that, or someone at larian took an unknown substance that led them to make halsin Very inconsistent.

with the poly situation, some people are strictly polyamorous! some people are strictly non-monogamous and do not feel comfortable being in a monogamous relationship. i understand the frustration everyone, but that's how halsin is. i dont know if that was the writers' intention, but that's certainly what he comes across as to me; strictly non-monogamous.

what i DONT understand is why he says he only wants you, calls you "my heart", is so fondly and lovingly attached to you, and then he just.... Dips? Whatever. I'm ignoring that part forever. it's not canon to ME!

The puzzles were challenging enough and varied in difficulty. I never came across any bugs or problems with the game design. The dialog and music was excellent and really added to the realism of the game. Overall, Dracula 3: Path of the Dragon could have been a better game had it not been for the slow start to the story and puzzle solving. The game does have a creepy atmosphere at times which may scare the little ones, so following the age guidelines here is a good idea. Even Dracula doesn’t show up until the very end of the game and his name is in the title.ĭracula 3 has a "teen" rating but really the only violence you find in the game happens in the end when Father Arno must defeat Dracula, and even then there’s no real blood or gore like you would find "hardcore" games. The biggest disappointment though had to be the fact that this was a game about vampires and yet the game barely had a single vampire in the story. Even the sound effects were spot on for each item in the game and really added to the time period believability. The music score was excellent in the game as each environment had its own mysterious or spooky soundtrack to enhance the atmosphere. As Father Arno follows the Path of the Dragon, he travels from the small Transylvanian village to the ruins of ancient Romanian castle, Vlad Tepe’s prison cell in Turkey, Budapest, and the depths of Dracula’s Lair, all of which are brought to life with realistic 3D graphics and intense music. The locations in the game though small for exploring were quite detailed and varied. If a game doesn’t have a good gripping storyline or at least one puzzle in the first hour of gameplay, how do game developers expect to keep players interested in their games? Father Arno spent more time on the phone with characters in the first two days of this game then he spent doing anything else. While all puzzles were challenging and made you think, the storyline and puzzle options were terrible for the first two hours of game play. Without any references in the game, it’s not easy to complete without a cheat sheet.

The 30 puzzles in the game do take a bit of trial and error especially ones like the blood test which have you figuring out how to take blood and then test it. The game has a unique hint system in the form of a bible which has you click on a random page in order to get a bible passage as a hint. Don’t worry about writing information down from conversations or documents in the game, because they will be saved in your inventory for later reference. You can choose to skip over topics but this can lead to missed clues and triggered events, so it’s better to exhaust all subject points. When speaking to characters in the game, you are given a choice of various subjects to discuss with them which can lead to other possible topics. To make the game easier, your cursor will change its icon as you hover over different objects in your environment to indict what action you can take with them. You can also pick up or interact with objects, read documents, and solve puzzles within all the locations you explore. In each day, you can explore the village and talk to characters to find clues or active events. This game is divided into 6 days which have certain events you must complete before you can go onto the next day. Are there really vampires in the 1920s? To find the proof he needs, Father Arno must walk the path of the dragon into the world of the occult and into the world of Dracula.ĭracula 3 is set up like traditional point and click adventure game where players are given an open area to click on people or objects to interact with. Calugarul may have been murdered because she was trying to stop a string of strange murders that left the victims drained of their blood. While there Father Arno discovers that Dr. Martha Calugarul to determine if she is worthy of beatification and should be made a saint by the Church. Though Dracula 3 was released as CD-ROM game, it has been recently become available as a download.ĭracula 3: Path of the Dragon follows the mission of a Father Arno Moriani as the Vatican sends him to a small Transylvanian town to investigate the life of Dr. This instalment follows Father Arno as he travels to Transylvanian to investigate a worthy sainthood, but instead he is thrust into the world of Dracula. This adventure game is the third title in the Dracula series, following Dracula: The Last Sanctuary and Dracula: Resurrection. Dracula has risen again in Dracula 3: Path of the Dragon.

So to the epic return of brarg Sunday, I have two AUs to offer @oxiosa (and anyone who wishes to join!!!). Choose your fighter:

1: A vampire lu au (yes another one). I had it in my mind for a while but rereading Dracula made me want to work on it again. I don’t have a plot but more of a ~vibe~ an ~aesthetic~ if you will. I think it would be neat to have a more old school vampire fic, I see it set in Luciano’s big imperial manor burried deep in the woods, surrounded by trees so large they block almost all sunlight. It’s in a path no one dares to travel for the rumors of people not coming back; in its way the only animals one finds are snakes and spiders. Martin somehow finds himself trapped in this beautiful manor with no mirror or servants - I first had the though of making him an outlaw that runs to the forbidden part of the forest to escape and ends up there, but that’s a little too similar to your vampire fic, so I think we can go a more Dracula direction and make it so that Martin is this young Professional of something that is called there but this mysterious figure and makes the journey. At first he doesn't realize the danger - his host is charming and handsome and even seductive, but he soon stars to see things are off. I don’t have a plot per se, but knowing martin I think he would want to be a hero and find a way to kill the vampire, so we can’t get some action and some fighting but also some mixed feelings. I don’t see this Au as one they’d fall in love love but might grown enough attraction/affection to reach some compromise that don’t involve killing the other. Or they fall in love im on board for that too for sure 8D

2: Enchanted AU. I don’t have much on it but the set up, but it might be an easier one. Basically martin is a fairly tale Prince Charming, hopeless romantic turned up to 1000. But do you some witchery to be defined he’s sent to the most horrible place - São Paulo. A big city full of gray and cars and dirt and he’s lost and confused trying to find his way to ( his Princess? Slay the dragon and save his village? His throne?) And ends up saved by avarage divorce laywed lulu, a major player who doesn’t believe in true love and sees romance as just a way to over complicate fun and sex (We can give him a child or not, I think it might work either way). The rest of the plot goes as you’d expect as these two contrasting figures fall in love - Luciano learns true love yes exists, and Martin learns to be a little more rational about love (or if we want to spicy it up sex doesn’t exist in the fairy tale world so martin learns about THAT). I do think we’d need an evil witch for this one (maybe arthur/alice? We know martin doesnt get along with them) because I NEED martin to get poisoned and wake up from a true loves kiss at the end all the rest is negotiable

Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon 

Dracula 3, the series’ only standalone entry, emerged out of the fog a whole eight years after the previous title, created by an entirely distinct developer and publisher combo.  Sadly, the game doesn’t have any clear connections to previous entries, except the general concept of Dracula the arch-vampire, but this game’s narrative would continue into the games that followed.  The old camp style has been swept off the board in favor of an introspective horror story filled with mystery.

Behind the Voice Actors: Murfy

Welcome to installment 3 of behind the voice actors! this time we cover one of my favorite canon Rayman characters, Murfy!

(Author’s note before we get started: In the events we have pages like murfy here that feature voice actors i mentioned on other posts i will give you a directory to which installment that was, but i will still give you details on their roles. most of the time though it tends to be a copy/paste from that with a little editing. 

also i can’t for the life of me find any credited actors for ANY of the rayman 2 english dubs of murfy. so i can’t add the english section for this one. i can’t find ANYTHING!)

  Rayman 2 the great escape (French): Pierre-Alain De Garrigues 

The same gentleman who did the voice of globox, Sssam the snake, the spyglass pirate, and clark in the french version of Rayman 2 did the voice for murfy as well!

I featured his voice roles over on the globox voice edition!

as i said over there Pierre-Alain De Garrigues doesn’t have much for credited voice roles, but to name some he’s done:

Another voice I featured over on my Post for Rayman’s voice actors for his job as the animated series version of our big nosed hero.

Billy West does my favorite version of murfy and is the same guy I use to this day for voice head canon and the personality I use for my rayman projects and such.

Billy West is one of the more recognizable voice actors. He’s done:

Ren Hoek and Stimpson J. Cat (Stimpy) in Ren and Stimpy

Elmer Fudd in the looney tunes show and Rabbits Run

He did Both Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in things like: Bah Humduck a Looney tunes christmas, Looney Tunes Stranger than Fiction, bugs bunny lost in time video game, and the original space jam movie. 

Phillip J. Fry, Professor Farnsworth (GOOD NEWS EVERYONE), and Zoidberg from Futurama

Sparx the dragonfly in The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night

Rancid Rabbit from Catdog

Woody Woodpecker from “from the earth to the moon” and would voice both Woody and Wally Walrus in the New woody Woodpecker show

Doug Funnie, Roger Klotz, and Coach Spitz from the original Doug tv show. the original one only. He stated himself that he had nothing to do with the remake they did.

Rayman Origins and Legends: Douglas Rand

When Rayman origins launched, he’s now the current voice actor for rayman...and pretty much every single character from that point. 

Douglas Rand has done voice acting for Dragonball media English dubbing but it’s depending on the version of the dubs. Such as 

Yamcha and Tien Shinhan from Tree of might

Trunks, Yamcha, Andriod 17 and Vegeta from the history of trunks;

Vegeta and Mr. Popo from the return of cooler

Broly and Future trunks from broly the legendary super saiyan 

and many other roles within that franchise.

inside rayman specifically, he’s done many roles 

(Some will be featured in future behind voice actor posts as well. so i will actually not feature those ones to prevent myself from sounding like a broken record)

First introduced in the 1986 novel, It, portrayed by Tim Curry in the 1990 miniseries and Bill Skarsgard in the recent two-part remake, Pennywise is a shapeshifting ghoul with immense supernatural powers.

This unparalleled power would prevent Pennywise from using fear to create illusions in Mob's mind and render him ineffective as a result. With the ability to astrally project and enter the minds of his enemies, Mob could defeat Pennywise without lifting a single finger.

7 Alucard - Hellsing Ultimate

Considered the most destructive weapon in the Hellsing Corporation, Alucard is an omnipotent, immortal manifestation of Dracula. Since he cannot be killed, he would destroy Pennywise with this wide array of supernatural skills.

6 Eren Yeager - Attack On Titan

The main protagonist of Attack on Titan, Eren Yeager would make easy work of Pennywise with his unique skillset and superior fighting acumen. In addition to superhuman strength and speed, Eren can heal rapidly and regenerate body parts instantly.

But the main reason Eren would defeat Pennywise is his superior shapeshifting abilities. Eren can not only transform into a Titan 15-meters tall, but he also controls the Founding Titan power, which allows him to command an army of 50-foot-tall Titans to attack his enemies. Even if that fails to work, Eren can wield the mighty War Hammer Titan.

5 Aang - Avatar: The Last Airbender

As one of the rare few Avatars who can bend all five powerful elements - air, earth, energy, fire, and water - Aang would be a mighty foe for Pennywise to defeat. No matter where Pennywise chooses to attack the reincarnated spirit, Aang could counter by expertly harnessing the almighty natural forces.

3 Naruto Uzumaki - Naruto

One of the most celebrated anime characters of all time, Naruto Uzumaki would undoubtedly defeat Pennywise if the two crossed paths. The beloved ninja warrior can use such martial arts as ninjutsu and senjutsu, the former of which includes his signature Shadow Clone Technique.

Goku can also use Instant Transmission skills to detect ki from long distances and teleport to any destination. When that doesn't work, he can defeat Pennywise by tapping into his new Ultra Instinct power, which makes him unbeatable.

1 Saitama - One-Punch Man

Like his namesake suggests, Saitama aka One-Punch Man would take Pennywise out with a single death blow. As the single most powerful anime character of all time, he would ensure Pennywise never made it out of the first round.

In addition to his devastatingly fatal right hand, Saitama spent three years honing his indestructible physique. As such, he can sustain any strike without feeling much damage. Moreover, Saitama is aware that he is the strongest fighter around. Since Pennywise preys on fear, Saitama would have no reason to feel terrified.
