Here are some design variations I quickly mocked up with the desired colour sweatshirts I found online. The green on the left is currently my favourite colour green I have found and is from the same site as the T-Shirts, BarOneClothing. In the previous blog post I had discussed about not liking the quality and colour of the sweatshirts I had ordered from FireLabel.com (design on the right) I think the lighter green gives room for the design o be seem and feels more impactful that having the black design against a darker muddy green. I wasn't happy with the colour in person as I just don't think may design suits this colour.

Theoretically for some reason my mind just feels like It would change the narrative of the product. From a illusional commercial point of view, if this were for Taylor Swift, the lighter colour feels more suitable for her brand and demographic.

After this opinion, I had decided to also ordered the lighter Slate Green from BarOneClothing. These were more expensive because they are from a company called EarthPositive which are more sustainable. These were priced at £12 per sweatshirt so I am hoping the quality is better than my current ones. This has delayed my printing process however I know I would prefer this trial and error beforehand rather realising this after having printing my decision and not being able to change it.

My next task is to compare quality and colour once my second order arrives and decide on which sweatshirt I prefer the most.

Price Breakdown (new Slate Green)

12.05 per sweatshirt x 6, TOTAL (inc VAT and Shipping) = £98.10

£30x 6= £180 - £98.10= £81.90

GPM= 45.5%

This isn't good at all especially because the profit outcome is less than outgoing price of the sweatshirts. I need to up the price if I want to keep this sweatshirt.

£35x6=£210 - 98.10= £111.90

GPM=53.29

£40x6= £240 - 98.10= £141.90

GPM= 59.13

These last two feel more appropriate results I just don't know the value of my sweatshirts yet until I finish all of my printing. I am looking forward to printing despite having nerves about it as I don't have much experience in the field I've just been watch over the last few weeks. I think my goal selling price, to achieve good profit outcomes will start at £30.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas & New Year! I was lucky enough to have a few jobs over the December period which you’ll be able to check out over the next couple posts. The 3 colour ‘NERD’ NASA logo was my favourite! I printed this with no under-base and you can see just how vibrant the Amex waterbased inks are on a black garment with just a print/flash/print. Images 4 & 5 show a cheap way of checking your colours are in perfect registration with minimal cost & waste. I used some 2” wide cellotape between each colour which allows you to wipe the ink away, adjust the screen and reprint if registration is out. You would usually use some sort of clear application tape for this but I didn’t have any at the time. The last few images show a couple of one colour prints: black ink on white Softstyle Gildan t-shirts & Earth Positive women’s rolled sleeve t-shirts.
