I try not to think about Edy Ganem too much but this episode puts things in perspective, especially her recent IG posts. She wraps filming 7x05 and Marisol and Eddie are still together, she's got a call back for 7x07? She could totally think her character is gonna be around for a while.

Then filming 7x07 happens. Her IG posts and story after filming (seeming upset, focusing on auditions) to me hints she might be done and that it wasn't necessarily expected. And the episode title? Ghost of a Second Chance? We know now that Eddie and Marisol are on their second chance.

If they do break up, I'm hoping that 7b or even 8a delivers the Eddie sexuality arc we might have had in 7a, because now that we know it existed in some form or fashion I will not be able to let it go. If it turns out that it was one or the other with Buck's coming out arc? That might actually break me. Buddie canon has never felt closer... or further away.

Here's the thing:

If we ignore how Ryan has always acted Eddie out around Buck, how Oliver has acted right back as Buck, the fact that Buck is now canonically out as bi, how they've been co-parenting Christopher for years, the gayest break up ever being filmed between Eddie and Ana/A(h)na, and the Catholic guilt of it all [insert GIF of Crowley's list], Marisol could've been Eddie's endgame, but Edy made the audience hate her.

Yeah, the vibe I am getting from interviews is that they will be doubling down on Eddie being Very Heterosexual this season.

I am thinking I will skip watching season 7 for the moment and check in again in 6 months when Season 8 starts up. I'm just not going to be able to enjoy the individual moments in a episode when there is a potential Marisol jump scare around every corner.

I enjoy the Ana seasons in retrospect, knowing that she gets ditched in the most satisfying way possible ("I liked the idea of us". Ouch.) so if Marisol has exited by season 8 I will enjoy the episodes more than if I watched them live.

And by the end of this season it will be clear if Marisol has been given a job as a nurse / doctor / reporter / police officer / dispatcher that would indicate they want to keep her around as Eddie's permanent partner and I can just exit the show.

I wish they would just let that man be gay.

I am a newer lurker in the fandom, and I would LOVE to know about what exactly Marisol's actress has done

I’m sure there’s post that explains it way better than I can right now, but basically she posted a transphobic joke on her Instagram stories, then proceeded to do a half assed apology when she was called out (one that had a picture of herself in the background). Also she continuously likes incredibly homophobic comments talking about Buck or Eddie and queerness — there’s actually a specific one going around on a screenshot where timeline shows that she basically already knew about Buck being bisexual.

Those are the things that I’m aware of, so there may be more, but in my books that’s enough to dislike her plenty.
