#BG3 Musing #BG3 Fanmix #Halsin BG3 #Halsin #Halsin Posting #my fanmix #i give up this is about as done as it will ever be - i've been talking about this enough i need to get it away from me #i could have made at least one or two other playlists with the number of songs i cut from this #there were some things that hurt me to cut but i figured others had them in their playlists so they're out there #(the impossible dream you will always be famous i am so sorry :(()#i had three goals with this 1. make it more of a timeline in that it follows a narrative order (which hopefully is easy enough to follow)#(it makes sense to me about as much as it is ever going to lol)#2. try to avoid using songs that other individuals have used in their playlists (with a handful of exceptions - i highly encourage you also #take a listen to the others around! lots of good stuff and i figured if you were missing it from this one you can find another with it)#(and if i did use one the context might be different #'closer here is being used in a different way than i usually see it - it's putting more emphasis on the 'you can have my isolation' bit use #in context of the matron and patron for example)#and 3. focus as much as possible on non-romance path elements of halsin's character - i.e. again that's a topic that is highly explored #in other fanmixes to great success - this one is about the childhood he references and the adventures and the capture in the underdark #and the shadow curse and the burying of people he loved and the uptaking of the archdruid position and the healing he did #and possibly did not do #and the radicalization he comes into when his goals are met and he's faced with injustices #and the struggle he has of redefining himself and figuring out who he is after all of it #hopefully the 'eras' are clearly defined but hey it's all gravy from here #honestly if there is one song to listen to that encapsulates halsin for me it's tapestry - highly recommend that #anyway i am blabbing - let the lyrics and such talk for themselves jemi please #but if fanmixes aren't your speed have a kinda nice edit i guess #edit: now with bonus song i just had to add after shamefully forgetting it

Why did Centclipse (what I call him) give himself that kind of body?

MAN, OKAY SO LIKE. THIS ASK REMINDED ME THAT ACTUALLY MY ORIGINAL IDEA WAS NOT "LORD ECLIPSE IS A CENTIPEDE" IT WAS "LORD ECLIPSE CAN USE THE STAR TO SHAPESHIFT".

I used to be super into UTMV (undertale multiverse) and my favorite thing ever was that Nightmare, from Dreamtale, was able to use the corruption to shift his form into grotesque mimicries of something humanoid and use it to instill fear into people that he can then feed off of. (Example: (body horror cw) this post by mcnotok that I think about a LOAHT.)

Lord Eclipse's treatment of Sun seems very centered around making him suffer in whatever way possible, yea? Sun seems to basically just be a punching bag to him, so, one of my ideas was that Lord Eclipse would shapeshift to specifically scare Sun into submission. To ensure that his fear would keep him rooted under his command.

Sun is afraid of bugs. We know this from several gameplay episodes.

So, what better form to inhabit than one of the most crawly kind of bug there is? :)

What if Law is a White Queen candidate? And when the Red and Heart kingdoms separate, he's the one that becomes the new White Queen?

In an AU of this AU he could be 🤔 not sure how he'll feel after going through 3 different roles in his lifetime though

My thoughts on the main AU is that White and Red are based off chess pieces and one of their ways to become a Queen is through Pawn promotion. Since Luffy is technically a Pawn here, he has the ability to become a Queen (not all Pawns can just become Queen though, they'll have to go through highly specific conditions or have the right drive/characreristics for it). And Law was a Knight candidate that was promoted from a Pawn before the shift, so he could've become a Queen candidate if he stayed on a Pawn's role

Also unlike chess, this is the process for the Pawn's roles: Pawn —> "Queen/Bishop/Rook/Knight" candidate —> Queen/Bishop/Rook/Knight (whichever role they picked to be a candidate of)

The Pawn "_" candidates can go back to being a Pawn but they cant pick any other option once they chose the role (ex. Pawn becomes Bishop candidate, goes back to being a Pawn, can't become a Rook candidate)

It's different for those that are already born to be candidates of their position. Not all Queens/Bishops/Rooks/Knights came from Pawns. Once someone else already has taken their potential role, they simply lose that candidate role.

Heart doesnt have the Pawn method of choosing though and most of the time Red and White's Queen candidates were picked the same way as Heart

I do like the idea of Luffy, Law and Kid being the next gen of Queens but I'm still not sure if I really want that because I might change my mind later 😅

It doesn't really matter to me though because I'm only focusing on Shanks' and Buggy's story, so feel free to think of who's who in the next generation ^-^

I was scrolling down your DC tag and found this post (www(.)tumblr(.)com/cleromancy/735420182202368001/fucking-no?source=share) -I hope the link doesn't vanish but just in case it's one where you talk about approaches to writing DC and you cite waid, grayson and morrison. I know a bit more about morrison's, but (if you don't mind), would you care to elaborate on each style?

speaking very very broadly here, and therefore making generalizations that won't apply to every single thing each writer has ever written, but rather their general reputation or what i personally have found reading their work

waid is famously well-read and generally tries to reconcile as much canon as he can while still 1) telling the story he wants to tell and 2) fitting with modern style/genre/etc conventions. if he does make a departure you generally assume he knew he was doing it and did it on purpose while still mostly adhering to that former goal. im thinking of the donna/garth situationship in worlds finest teen titans here, which to me read like he was like "wait, why *wouldnt* they have ever had a thing, they have so much in common" and an exploration of that, and it does actually mesh with stuff that came before imo. but i picked waid as an example of someone who is extremely well read and puts a lot of effort into yes and-ing what came before. but at the same time he Builds a lot off of it, he's not just parroting.

devins approach to my reading is more like... she's character driven in a way where like. 1) she probably has a solid understanding of the history of her mains and has probably read at least the recent stuff but definitely hasnt sat down and read their Whole History, and 2) if her character concept differs from what came before she's comfortable stepping away from it. so by contrast to waid as an example, you generally won't see her playing with minor elements from teen titans 1966 or new teen titans, or if you do it's a surprise and she might have just taken a concept and turned it on its head, if that makes sense. shes more likely to bring in her own stuff. but at the same time you usually don't expect anything of hers to be a sharp departure from anything recent or any of her contemporaries. devin is someone who can read catwoman comics and then be like "i actually think catwoman should be more like xyz, because when i boil her down to what i see as her essential/core elements, this is what feels honest and compelling to me," and then that's how she'll write her.

morrison is pretty infamous for their "everything is canon" approach by which i mean. they may not have read anything recent scrimblo scringus was in, but they *did* read the elseworlds comic from 1989 where they originated that bears little to no resemblance to their current iteration, and they think it would be fun to randomly bring in some shit from that story into scrimblo's mainline continuity. so you get things like new earth jason being a redhead but also entirely unlike either pre-crisis jason or post-crisis jason in any discernable way, or they'll import batcow from tiny titans to the main continuity. because actually why Shouldn't we have batcow too. so morrisons something of a wildcard in terms of both what they might have read and in what they'll use and what they'll ignore, its a total free for all. every comic ever written is their playground, pretty much.

hopefully that makes sense lol. and i am oversimplifying a lot but that was my logic in name-dropping those three

#em draws stuff #flintlock fortress #team fortress 2 #wanted to practice ansel's face and then things got out of hand #this is the drawing that the most people have said odd things about since that time I drew william bush with his shirt off #anyway anyway. I have made some strategic edits to this one to make him more fun to draw and in turn done some ponderments of my own #for example we do have a plot shape that doesn't really make sense unless he had a very particular situation as regards gender.#but what if. what if he was butch. once again things are getting out of control in the ol' braincase.#(butch mad-scientist is a concept that never crossed my mind previously but there very well may be a character design in there...)#please do not adjust your set but do ignore me until the second layer of madness has passed.#and Certainly do zoom in if the fancy takes you because the number of textures I put in this one... ohhhhh the textures...#there's not a ton to play with and tumblr crunches it terribly but I do love to add all manner of tiny scars and such when I'm scribblin'#this one scanned Weirdly but it did mean I ended up with a Huge canvas and thus much more room to play around #by rights I've misspent my evening terribly but I can't look at this and say my time was at all wasted. em's drawn Another horrid surgeon!

tagged by @longhairsokka 💓💓 technically i think i did this a while ago but i love sharing wips so i'll do it again! this fic was originally supposed to be kunidazai but.. it kinda just turned into kunikida Going Through It for 7k+ words while dazai and ranpo try to help him via pushing him to the breaking point

There’s a knock on the door, and then Dazai lets himself in. “Hi, Kunikida-san!” he chirps, and Kunikida hates it. He hates himself for hating it. He hates this office, and he hates his hands. Dazai leaves the door open. A plastic bag dangles from his wrist as he crosses to Kunikida’s desk. He’s getting better at handling his crutches—or, more likely, since Dazai is an instant prodigy in everything except cooking, he’s simply stopped playing dumb. He drops the bag on Kunikida’s desk. Beside Kunikida’s laptop, instead of on top of it. Because this desk is big enough for that. “What’s this?” Kunikida asks. He doesn’t reach for the bag. It’s been tied shut, and he doesn’t trust himself to open it. “A gift!” Dazai uses one of his crutches to tug a chair closer, then sits. This time, he props his crutches up against Kunikida’s desk. “Lucy-chan brought up today’s leftover pastries from the café.”

I'm having real trouble motivating myself to edit stuff. Like I managed to get myself to do the new chapter of I'd Sell My Soul but fuck everything else and there's a lot. Normally I can get myself to edit but every time I try it goes the same way as reading a lot of time. I'm just like that's time I could be writing.

#Like I want to share with the few people who actually interact with my stuff but also it takes so much more effort than I can muster.#i shall just continue hording until I can make myself care to edit again I guess. but i'll try and keep I'd sell my soul on the schedule #Today instead of editing I finished up two fix I'd had sitting around and maybe finished another base on a tag fic #that one is maybe because I don't love where I ended it so I might add another scene.#personaljelly
