DISQUALIFIERS WILDCARD ROUND
several people sent in doctors that don't actually fit the terms of the bracket, but certain of them felt like that they'd either be Suitable or Funny to include, despite their lack of qualifications for the actual competition going on. but in the end, a 42nd doctor was needed to make up an even number of contestants, so we'll accept one Disqualifier Doctor into the prepared bracket!
[note: this concerns Victor Frankenstein from 'Young Frankenstein' (1974) specifically, Victor Frankestein from the original novel will appear elsewhere in the bracket]

Redeemers: Greenest in Flames Part 1
Narration: The streets of Greenest were cast in dim light by the half-moon above, choked in smoke as the town burned. Bursting forth from an alley, three children quickly help a limping man across the street to the safety of shadows. Their mother follows close behind them with a blood spattered round shield and a broken spear, she whirls around and faces the direction from which they came. Eight kobolds stream out of the alley on the family’s heel and fan out around the peasant woman, whose hand shakes as she holds the jagged pole against the creatures.
Child #1: Mama!
Linan: *Doesn’t take her eyes off the kobolds who slowly encroach on her with blades and spears.* Don’t look back! Take your father and go! *Her eyes welled up with tears.* I-I won’t let you have them!
The Kobolds: *They’re scaled reptile lips stretch with malicious grins as they edge each other on to strike the woman first. Just as one looked like he was going to charge he suddenly falls flat onto the ground with a crossbow bolt in the back of his head.*
May: *Looks down on the group from a rooftop as she pulls back the string on her heavy crossbow.* Cowards…
The Kobolds: *Look at the dead kobold on the ground before something large and hairy bulldozes pass straight through them, sending half of them flying*
Adam: *Screeches to a halt and plucks the kobold hanging onto dear life on one of his horns. Adam then proceeds to crush the creature’s rib cage in one hand like a yogurt tube.*
Kobold: *Tries chucking a javelin at Adam.*
Neon: *She intercepts the javelin with her nunchaku, sending it soaring upwards, before executing a swift spinning kick that propels the javelin directly into the kobold's chest.* Finally! Some ass to kick!
Cinder: *Strolls up the street and headshots a kobold with a firebolt spell.* Barely even a warm up, really.
Kobolds: *Start panicking when a loud thunderclap sounds, and two kobolds are sent flying through a store front window.*
Reese: *Blows arcane smoke from her magic flintlock pistol. Her eyes glint with mischief only a goblin could.*
Kobold Looter: *Quickly starts running with a heavy sack of stolen treasure before bumping into one of his squad members who suddenly slays him with a dagger.*
Neo: *Drops her magical kobold disguise and cleans off her dagger before she starts sifting through the loot sack.*
Last Kobold: *Drops his weapon and starts running for his life.*
Cinder: Looks like one got away.
Jaune: *Rounds the corner trying to find his party.* Guys? Where’d you go?
Last Kobold: *Hits his shield like a brick wall and is immediately knocked out*
Jaune: *Stumbles.* S-Sorry! Are you-? Oh. *Pokes the kobold with his foot before looking up* There you are.
Neon: Good catch, Blondie.
Adam: We saved these civilian’s lives. The quest is complete.
Reese: Yeah, can I go home now?
Linan: *Still holding her broken spear out before her knees buckle, staring at the party of adventurers with wide eyes. Her family rushes to her side, enveloping her in a tight embrace. Tears stream down her cheeks as she looks up at the group of adventurers who had just saved their lives.* Th-Thankyou. We owe you everything.
Cinder: How much is “everything,” exactly?
Party: *Stares at Cinder*
Cinder: What? I was joking, obviously. It’s called “Dark Humor.” Lighten up.
Jaune: *Notices the wounded man and rushes to his side.* Hold still, sir. I can help you. *He holds out his palms and they start to glow, magically healing the wounds with holy healing.*
Children: *Stare on in wonder*
Jaune: *Smiles gently* There, that should be better. Do you all have a safe place to stay until this is over?
Linan: W-We were trying to make it to the keep. It’s the only safe place left in town.
May: *Hops down from the rooftops.* It doesn’t seem that the raiders have established an effective cordon around the fortress yet. If we’re quick and lucky, we can get there before it’s too unsafe.
Jaune: *Nods and stands* Then that’s where we’re heading. *Looks to the civilians* Are all of you good for traveling?
Narration: Linan and her husband, Cuth, both nod and each pick up one of their children, leaving Jaune to pick up the third. The party heads out towards the keep, doing their best to keep a low profile and quickly dispatching any invader that stumbles upon them. By the time they party makes it near the open fields surrounding the keep, they manage to pick up another ten civilians.
At the heart of Greenest, towering stone walls of the fortress known as Greenest Keep stand as a beacon of hope amidst the chaos. The front gates stand wide open for any fleeing peasants fleeing the onslaught. Stationed guards usher refugees in as archers line the ramparts to rain down on any enemies that get to close. The main road between the Party and the Keep is guarded by a platoon of about thirty enemies, a mix of kobolds and mercenaries seemingly being directed by strangely dressed men and women in dark purple garbs and colorful reptilian masks.
Reese: *Whistles* Well shit, that’s a problem.
Adam: I think we can take them. They haven’t impressed me with a good fight so far.
Neon: With all these people with us? Our best chance is to sneak around.
May: It’s an open field around that fortress. The second we make a run for it those raiders will be on our tail. We need a distraction.
Cinder: Creating a distraction could take too long. Whatever we’re doing, we better do it quick before even more enemies surround the keep.
The Party: *Look at Jaune.*
Jaune: …What?
Neo: *Gestures for him to speak up.*
Jaune: You’re asking me what we should do?!
Neon: Yeah, aren’t you, like, our boss or something?
Cinder: You’re the only one here who technically has any real authority.
Reese: So what’s the plan?
Jaune: *A single sweatdrop falls along his face as he scans over his Party and looks over to the scared civilians with them. He takes a deep breath to calm his nerves and takes careful consideration of the situation.* Alright then. I think we should…

Battle of Kings Mountain
The Battle of Kings Mountain (7 October 1780) was a significant battle of the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783), fought in the backcountry of South Carolina between large parties of Patriot and Loyalist militias. The battle exemplified how the American Revolution could often take on the characteristics of civil war, as most participants on either side were Americans.
The Subjugation of the South
On 12 May 1780, the city of Charleston, South Carolina, fell to the British army after a grueling six-week siege. It was one of the greatest British triumphs of the war so far. Charleston was the largest and most important city in the American South, and its capture provided the British with an excellent base from which to invade the rest of the region. Sir Henry Clinton, commander-in-chief of the British army, did not believe that the subjugation of the South would be a difficult feat. It had long been rumored that the South was replete with Tories (or Loyalists) who felt oppressed by their new revolutionary governments and yearned for the return of royal authority. Clinton believed that the mere presence of British soldiers in the region would trigger a massive revolt of thousands of southern Tories, who would help the soldiers reconquer the South in the name of the king.
Once Charleston fell, Clinton immediately turned his attention to prodding South Carolina's Loyalist population into action. To achieve this, he appointed Major Patrick Ferguson as Inspector of Militia for the Southern Provinces, tasking him with the recruitment and organization of Tory militias. The Scottish-born Major Ferguson seemed to be an excellent candidate for such a task. A career soldier, Ferguson had entered the British army in his teens and had fought in the European theater of the Seven Years' War (1756-1763). He had patented a new kind of breechloading rifle that allowed for a higher rate of fire than the standard flintlock musket, even in wet weather; his British comrades, however, preferred the familiarity of their 'Brown Bess' muskets, and only 200 of Ferguson's Rifles were ever manufactured. Major Ferguson also had a sense of military honor. He claimed that during the Battle of Brandywine (11 September 1777), he had had an opportunity to shoot an American officer that he believed to be George Washington but had declined to do so, believing that it was dishonorable to target officers.
Ferguson was still only a major after his decades of military experience and was eager to prove himself worthy of his new command. Shortly after his appointment as Inspector of Militia on 22 May 1780, he rode to Tryon County, which was heavily populated by Loyalists, and spent the following months recruiting Tory militias. By August, he had raised around 4,000 Tory militiamen from across the South Carolina backcountry; while these numbers were impressive, they fell far short of the total number of Tories that Clinton had expected would rally to the British cause. But Ferguson made good use of what he had. During the summer of 1780, his Tories performed well in a series of skirmishes with Patriot militia that took place in the territory between the fortress of Ninety-Six and the North Carolina border. By the end of August, Ferguson had successfully driven most Patriot partisans from the northwestern part of South Carolina.
Ferguson's success against the Patriot militias was soon bolstered by an even more significant British victory. On 16 August 1780, the main British army under Lord Charles Cornwallis decisively defeated an American army at the Battle of Camden. The battle not only secured British control of South Carolina but also cleared a path for Cornwallis to launch an invasion of North Carolina (Cornwallis had taken over command from Clinton, who had returned to New York to keep an eye on Washington's army in the north). In early September, as Cornwallis prepared to march his army to Charlotte, North Carolina, he ordered Ferguson to enter the state first and begin recruiting and organizing militias of North Carolina Tories. Ferguson was then expected to defend the left flank of Cornwallis' army as it commenced its invasion. The Scottish major quickly rode into North Carolina to fulfill this new mission, eager to help play a role in Britain's subjugation of the South.

Dragon of Masyaf 2
Tumblr media
warnings: blood and injury
Your training and various exercises sometimes took place outside the fortress and outside the city itself. Together with Altair, you went to the desert, where a small enemy camp was supposed to be located.
The plan was to stay the night in the desert, reconnoitre the enemy's territory and get the flag from there, which was located in the very centre on high ground. After that, you were scheduled to go to Jerusalem, where the Grandmaster was supposed to have a meeting with the Rafiq there.
You had travelled some distance from Masyaf when the enemy camp that Altair spoke of appeared in front of you. You camped not far from it and it was up to you to get the necessary information.
Altair often taught you about the mistakes of his past, so he made sure that you used your intuition, but that you found out the necessary and correct information.
When evening came it was up to you to prepare the fire. You got wood and everything, but no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't get the fire going. You've probably tried all possible methods. Using sticks, stones... Nothing. You were slowly running out of patience.
“I'll do it,” Altair said after a while of you competing with the flintlocks. You nodded in agreement and handed him the rocks. Altair slammed them together a few times and you thought you didn't see any spark.
But he crouched down to the hearth and began to blow into it. You watched curiously as you noticed what seemed to be a flame coming out of his mouth. Suddenly, smoke appeared from the hearth and the fire was on. You couldn't believe your eyes.
“Thank you, Master,” you finally said, swallowing your other questions. How? What it was? Etc. He taught you to question, but right now you were questioning your eyesight.
"You're welcome. And Y/N? Just call me Altair," he said and you felt like his eyes were shining gold. But you attributed that to the illusion created by the flames.
You wanted to execute the infiltration plan at dawn when the guards were changing. You got in without any problems without anyone seeing you. You got to the flag and you had the impression that it was suspiciously easy.
Your suspicions were justified because as soon as you touched the flag, an arrow pierced your shoulder. You immediately pulled back and focused on the direction the arrow had come from. You noticed the archers. Looking around you found yourself surrounded. So they waited for you. It was a trap and you fell into it.
You broke the arrow so it wouldn't get in your way and even with the flag in hand you ran away. Now that you've had it, you're not going to leave it there. You jumped off the lookout tower and ran away.
You ran around the tents so they wouldn't see you, but when you got to the gate they were already waiting for you. They've completely blocked your path.
You drew your sword in your good hand and were thankful that you were learning to fight with both hands, just in case. Enemies rushed at you and you were clearly at a disadvantage.
Although you always tried to focus on the one closest to you, spotting who would attack and the like, despite that you knew that this was a problem. Fortunately for you, Altair was watching the whole situation and as soon as you were hit in the hand, help was on the way.
Just when you were starting to feel like you couldn't handle another attack, an assassin swooped in. He deflected one attack with his sword and blocked the other one aimed at you with his hand. You saw the sword go through his uniform, but you didn't see the blood. However, you had to focus on your opponents.
Together, you finally managed to kill the bandits and get to safety. At a sufficient distance, when you reached your camp and horses, you wanted to look at his hand. After all, you saw how the sword hit him. Altair showed her to you, but there was no injury on her. You looked at his hand in confusion.
"A lot was going on at once. Maybe someone else got hurt like that," he said, focusing his amber eyes on your shoulder, which was still bleeding and had a piece of arrows sticking out of it. "I'm more concerned about your injury," he said, inspecting it.
He carefully tried to help you out of your uniform, but it only got worse. A sharp pain shot through your shoulder and you looked unusually pale and exhausted. He didn't like this at all. This injury required proper treatment.
"We'll head straight for Jerusalem," Altair ordered. "Can you stay in the saddle?" he asked you worriedly. You nodded in agreement. After all, this little injury won't put you out of the game, right?
Unfortunately, you couldn't have been more wrong. After some time in the saddle, fatigue began to overtake you and the pain began to spread like a contagion throughout your body.
At one point you had the impression that your eyelids were made of stone and that you couldn't keep them open any longer. You blinked and then blinked again.
Then you could no longer open your eyelids and the peace of darkness enveloped you like a pleasant blanket. It wasn't until too late that you realized you fell asleep. It only dawned on you when a pair of hands grabbed you.
"You'd better ride with me," Altair said firmly. You nodded your head in agreement. He helped you onto his horse and settled behind you. He tied the reins of your horse to the saddle, held you around the waist with one hand so you wouldn't fall, and held the reins of his horse with the other. You leaned comfortably against his body, which warmed you pleasantly. Before you knew it, you fell asleep again.
You only woke up to the noise of people who were also heading to town. You stopped away from the main gate which was guarded by guards on each side.
"Can you get in?" Altair asked you as you regained your senses and surveyed your surroundings. Your shoulder still hurt, but you had already stopped bleeding.
"I'll make it. I'll blend in with those monks over there and sneak in with them undetected," you replied. Altair nodded his head in agreement. He helped you off the horse and onto the ground, putting his cloak over your shoulders. He didn't want your injury to attract unnecessary attention.
You did as you said and got through the guards to the city unnoticed. There you sat down on the bench and waited for the master, who joined you after a while. Together you walked through the alleys to the district where the base was located.
Normally you would have gotten there via the roof using parkour, but now you didn't want to risk making your injuries worse. Plus, you didn't want to risk running into the archers patrolling the rooftops.
When you finally reached the base here, you sat down on a bench in front of the building while the master made his way there via the roof. There was also a secret entrance, but only the local Rafiq knew about it. When you finally got inside, your injury was the priority.
Malik, the local Rafiq, with Altair's help, got rid of the rest of the arrow and tended to your wound, which began to bleed again. You were given the day off and rather your task was to rest. That wasn't a problem for you.
You lay down on the soft carpet that was littered with pillows and closed your eyes. You thought you were going to fall asleep again, but you probably weren't that tired again.
You still had your eyes closed and were listening to your surroundings. Nothing very interesting. That is until you heard the voice of the master and Rafiq. They were talking about something.
"…It was supposed to be a simple mission. I went to check it out myself. I have no idea where they turned up. If I wasn't sure myself, I wouldn't have sent her there," you recognized your master's voice.
"I see. I'll try to find out more in the city," Malik replied. There was silence for a moment.
“Now tell me since when have you personally been training the novices?” Malik asked in a different tone. Altair didn't answer.
"Does she know about it?" was Rafiq's next question.
"No. I didn't tell her the real reason. Besides, she indeed has potential," finally replied the Grandmaster.
"Just be careful," Rafiq said finally.
"I know. But sometimes I have this urge..." you didn't hear the end of that sentence. Overall, the conversation was weird and didn't make any sense to you.
Sure Altair acted strange at times, but what other reason could he have chosen to keep an eye on you? But now you had the impression that you wouldn't find out much. You'll have to go about it differently.
You left Jerusalem as soon as your shoulder healed. You surveyed the surrounding situation, Malik, who you found out was Altair's best friend, was overseeing your training for a while. Even so, they kept nudging each other. Malik kept calling him a novice, even in front of you, and it annoyed Altair.
Unlike the Grandmaster, Malik taught you in maps, documents, and generally in that direction. A proper assassin should develop both body and mind.

A model of a typical brassclad artilleryship, demonstrating various design features. Some details such as the sail and rigging are missing.
From the design of the ship, we can see that it is a long-ranged artilleryship with a large vertical-axis maingun at the front. A large reflector and combustion chamber sits underneath the conical sheathing, while the optical apparatus of the gun is at the top.
A fire controller sits in the tower alongside the apparatus and aims the gun with the help of a telescope; a necessity with ranges reaching multiple miles. The fire controller ignites the main charge using either a lanyard from the tower to a gunlock mechanism on the deck below, or a small flintlock incender aimed directly at the charge in the flash chamber. Due to the pitching and rolling motion of the ship, long-range accuracy is impossible to achieve if fire commands have to be relayed to igniter crew below as is often done on land.
The lower part of the maingun turret containing the flash chamber and reflector impinges on deck space below, reducing the number of available rowers. Similarly, the mast and sail are limited by the need not to foul the maingun. To compensate, the ship is likely very lightly built despite looking like a fortress of metal, and a wavepiercer in the front increases the waterline length (it is not a ram: the maingun apparatus could be easily damaged by the impacts involved in ramming). If possible, the mast and rigging are left behind at a friendly port before heading to battle.
Secondary armament of smaller long-range lenscannons, possibly cinderguns, is visible in the front below the maingun tower. The signaler is visible on top of the aftcastle. The ship is designed to fight outside the effective range of ballguns to protect its sensitive maingun, so the defensive armament along the sides is unlikely to feature short-range weapons such as firethrowers. Long-range ballguns are possible, but the position of firing ports directly below the maingun tower where there would be no space for a ballgun to recoil implies that at least some of the broadside consists of compact lenscannons.
The ship is sheathed in a relatively corrosion-resistant brass alloy throughout, including under the waterline where the copper content prevents biofouling, permitting higher speeds and reduced maintenance. The deck is plated over, indicating that this is a more recent design; early plateships had open decks, making them extemely vulnerable to an arms race of ever taller mainguns shooting over their side plating. While extremely effective against magical weapons, the plating is too thin to be helpful against ballguns.

Comparison of the Gunpowder Empires and their usage of gunpowder
As mentioned before, the Ottoman Empire adopted firearms early, such as around the 14th century. They had skilled military men, such as the Janissaries and the Sipahis. The Janissaries played an important role and were a driving force of the Ottoman Empire, but the Sipahis were the heart of the Ottoman cavalry. They also dominated the Mediterranean Sea with their navy, which contributed to the empire's expansion of territory and control of trade routes.
The other Gunpowder Empires, such as the Safavids and the Mughals, embraced firearms within their military and had well-trained units as well. They also had a strong cavalry in both empires, such as the Qizilbash cavalry being strong within the Safavid Empire and also known for their loyalty to the Shah. The Mughals also had a strong cavalry which was significant in their military conquests. However, they did not have as good as a naval presence as the Ottomans. They did not play a role in maintaining the Mediterranean and focused more on land-based military campaigns. Despite the Ottomans being well-known for their usage of siege warfare, the Safavids and Mughals also engaged in it. They, however, did not have the same level of expertise as the Ottomans, such as with terrain, but were able to capture fortified cities and castles.
However, all three of the Gunpowder Empires had different tactics to work with since they all had different terrain. The Ottoman Empire was a large empire that had control of parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa, which posed several different geographical challenges and required a large military force. Especially since they needed protection from multiple angles, both on land and sea.
The Safavid Empire was mostly a landlocked territory that only had to worry about the Arabian Sea. They also had a smaller territory which spanned over the Middle East. Their geographical location influenced their military strategies and priorities, such as not having a navy (or a strong one) due to being mostly surrounded by land and mountains.
The Mughal Empire was another empire with a large territory in South Asia, which also had diverse geographical features such as fields, mountains, and deserts. They posed several different challenges and required a large military force as well.
However, with them all being Gunpowder Empires and having access to gunpowder, they were able to develop and advance strong firearms such as muskets, pistols, and cannons. All three empires had units specifically for handling special types of artillery, such as the Janissaries, Sipahis, and Qizilbash.
Cannons made siege warfare a lot easier as large caliber cannons could break down walls easily and quickly. They also led to the construction of new fortresses and tactics, such as star-shaped fortresses to withstand bombardment. With the increasing firearm power, it changed the way wars were fought and the outcomes of them.
Overall, gunpowder was able to advance technology such as going from swords and sabres, to muskets, to flintlock muskets, to pistols, and to cannons that could either break down walls or be on the move. It also allowed them to expand and upgrade their military, like the navy and cavalry, which only allowed them to grow stronger before all three fell.

Clingy Duo Uprising Brainrot time even though it’s been less than a few hours since I made this au
-Schlatt is working with Dream in this au. He’s the god of fortune but fortune is kind of a loose term. The fortune could go to those who don’t deserve it and to those who do deserve it. Lately he’s been playing favorites with the rich
-Quackity is the servant to Schlatt but lately he has been thinking of turning away from him lately after some of his decisions. He wields Bows once the duo fights him
-Instead of Phil adopting Wilbur, Tommy, and Tubbo, you got those three adopting him. They soon adopt Techno as their brother. Just two mortals who really didn’t believe in the gods and then all of a sudden one of them and their companions said that Phil is their dad and Techno is their brother
-The whole plot of the Aurum and invasion is kind of there. It’s just now we got it just slowly festering in the world instead of it coming down from space. We’re going to get BBH, Skeppy, and Ant being corrupted by it. Two gods and a servant to both of them are now trying to spread the egg around
-Sam is going to be the one guy who tries to stop it from spreading and helps the team. They go and do explosives and stuff and was the servant of both Bad and Skeppy before they went off the deep end
-DreamXD is a separate entity from Dream and was supposed to be the protector of the world but instead got trapped in a vault. They guard the Lightning Chariot of this au and like in canon, Tommy and Tubbo has to prove their worth to him in order to get it
-Eret is the god of loyalty and betrayal. Puffy and Hbomb are still their knights. They’re only working for Dream because of a lot of threats on them. Tommy and Tubbo fight them to get the location of where Dream’s fortress is. They don’t hold much hard feelings towards the two afterwards
-Remember that corruption arc for Wilbur? Well instead of it being a weird flying bug-spider thing, it’s going to be because of Dream and it’s going to subtle. Wilbur is going to snap more at Tommy and Tubbo during missions and not have his moral compass be the best during those times.
-Which means that Tommy and Tubbo are going to temporarily lose their bodies and have to resort in getting Techno and Phil respectively to pick up the rings they were turned into and possess them in a way that isn’t bad like Dream’s was. Like they still have consciousness and the duo does try and not get the bodies damaged
-End of chapter boss for them is probably going to be Punz. He is just a mercenary who wasn’t told much, but his employer said to go guard whatever was in the chest and he isn’t going to let Techno and Phil have it
-The duo goes and wields different weapon classes from the Kid Icarus Uprising game. Tommy wields Claws, Clubs, Cannons, and Arms. Tubbo wields Staffs, Bows, Palms, and Orbitars. They both go and wield blades.
-If you are asking why Tubbo doesn’t get a Cannon since I always put in how Tubbo deserves a gun, well it’s mainly because the one staff weapon is a literal gun. That staff is the Flintlock Staff. I’m not kidding. They actually put one in the game.
-Karl is the god of time and the one who Wilbur, Tommy, and Tubbo go to in order to get Great Sacred Treasure for him. He goes and just documents on what happens in the mortal world but he’s surprisingly good at tinkering. Perks of being a time traveling god

plague | ice | fire
the world of sornieth as defined by schwartz industries
PLAGUE
the wandering contagion - plague is an incredibly populous district, filled with large (and environmentally hazardous) businesses. however, because of the growing job market and booming economy, the city has grown exponentially and continues to expand. currently, they're looking into purchasing part of the starwood strand.
the blight sanctum - one of the prestigious universities of sornieth. the blight sanctum is the leading university for medical study. it boasts an impressive immunology department as well as genetic engineering and predictive DNA studies. (rhodyle claims to have graduated from here, but this can't be confirmed).
the wyrmwound - the second most populous city in the plague district. it's home to most of the businesses that schwartz industries does business with. there's little restriction on mass production, leading to an overabundance of smog. it can be difficult to breathe in the heart of the city, yet it also produces the most results.
quarantine zone #128 - the other 127 zones remain under government secrecy. #128 is the newest, and most well-known to the general public. after a catastrophic meltdown by a testing facility, radiation and chemically permeated air make it a no-go. the zone remains closed to anyone without clearance, and what's really inside remains a government secret.
hellwell undercroft - the capital of the plague district. it's one of the most ruthless places to live. the climate has been compared to the harshest areas of the ice district. those with health problems either move away or die. unsurprisingly, morticians are in high demand.
the seedscar - much like its counterpart (the pox consulate), the seedscar was founded in an attempt to foster diplomacy between nature and plague. unfortunately, it never came to fruition. the flora brought by nature reacted harshly to the unforgiving plague environment and mutated out of control. it too has its own quarantine zone where various officials try to prevent the spread of its tendrils.
ICE
frigid floes - once a massive glacier, the landscape has begun to crack and drift apart from global warming. plague's contribution to lightning and fire's environmental issues have caused the acceleration of the floes fracturing. however, there have been many scientific discoveries based off of what has been unearthed in the ice. some are mere skeletons of creatures that once were. some are more heinous in nature.
snowsquall tundra - the most populous area of the ice district. while it maintains a winter environment, it's temperate enough to host year-round hiking and camping. oddly enough, it also lends to an agricultural lifestyle. there are various plants that can't grow outside of the snow, and are used in medical production.
cloudscrape crags - perilous mountains that are often desolate. avid hikers avoid climbing this mountain range, as they know how deadly the shifts in weather can be. more than a handful of inexperienced hikers go missing every year. (the legend of beauford the returned originated here).
the frozen sanctum - one of the prestigious universities of sornieth. the frozen sanctum frequently makes trips to the frigid floes and takes samples back to its labs to study. various medical breakthroughs have been made here, although widespread production of any vaccines it creates are allocated to plague. (robin graduated from here!)
the rimebone stockade - the ice district is rich with history, and the stockade makes it all the more apparent. many of the specimens recovered from the ice are displayed within the stockade. while most of the stockade is open for public viewing, several recovered jewels, forgotten treasures, and interesting creatures are locked away from the public eye.
fortress of the ends - the capital of the ice district, the fortress of the ends is a hostile place that many refuse to visit. it's not kind to tourists, and frequently issues arrest warrants for menial reasons. those who own property within the area are generally royalty from ages past whose lands have existed for hundreds of years. (mina hails from here).
FIRE
magmablood rebuke - one of the newest geological phenomenon in sornieth, the magmablood rebuke is an active volcano that surfaced after a particularly terrible storm. while both ice and wind tried to claim the land for their own, fire's populace got to it first. while there's debate on whom the island legally belongs to, the blacksmith guild that currently inhabits it has made it apparent that no others are welcome unless they hail from the fire district.
the flintlock fumaroles - an area of great tectonic activity, lightning has partnered with the fire district to harness volcanic activity to power the many construction firms in the area. because of the increased production and centralized businesses, the area is covered in a thick smog (not unlike that of the plague district). however, the fire district, unlike the aforementioned is currently trying to develop a green plan to reduce emissions.
molten scar - a long, wide area that is generally seen as a flat plain, though it is permeated with lava flow in several areas. it's said that this is the remnant of a battlefield of old, and that the lava flow follows the pattern of a great creature's claw marks. (this is the origin of the legend of nikandros the scarred).
blacksand annex - this is the most populous city in the fire district (and its capital). it's where any and all blacksmiths go for training, despite the existence of the magma sanctum. considered to be the home of more technical jobs, it also boasts a booming economy as various districts contract fire for its ability to construct.
the magma sanctum - one of the prestigious universities of sornieth. although it does have a blacksmithing program, the majority of students who attend the magma sanctum focus on architecture or geology. the university has partnered with the oculus for a dual meteorology program.
cinderslag - another large city in the fire district. unfortunately, because production relies on access to water, the blacksand annex has thrived while the cinderslag has not. while it borders the water district, the aforementioned is rather stingy with allocation of resources and refuses to allow access to anything near the shoredeep presage. because of this, cinderslag has become more of a slum, although many fringe groups have tried to revitalize the area in recent years.

The Rise of the Dread Fleet - Chapter 1: Liberation
Sorry for the long wait! I’ve had some IRL issues that sapped all my life force, so I wasn’t really in the condition to write - regardless, on we go, Yoho.
Featuring @nouru-vi‘s Captain Sebba! <3 I hope I did her justice.
@tyrias-library
Laughing Gull Island lies ahead, its fortifications looming threateningly on the horizon, along with several ships already sieging the fort, golden shimmers from their hulls.
Vaixx climbs up onto the railings, holding on to a rope.
“Listen up!” his voice bellows over the deck, and the crew turns their attention to him. “The Lionguard are running a major assault on Laughing Gull. Under normal circumstances, we would reinforce their defenses, but nothing about this is normal. Rowan Gaets is dead, and with him dies our control of this ship!” He pauses, looking down at the pirates on deck, leaderless and without direction. Their journey to Lion’s Arch had been put on hold by a large fleet of Lionguard moving south, forcing them to hide. As soon as Vaixx had figured out where they were heading, he’d made a decision. No more hiding. He raises his voice again.
“We are free, my brothers and sisters, and free we will remain! Today, we break Taidha Covington’s yoke and set sail for new horizons! Man the cannons! Light up the sky! Slay the tyrant, once and for all!” Cheers erupt from the crew, as they rush to battle stations and Cariyen at the wheel starts bringing the ship in. Raxxi raises a white flag over their Jolly Roger, signaling the Lionguard not to attack them as the Rascal approaches their fleet. Vaixx jumps off his vantage point and rushes to the front of the ship, and balances up the prow. He’s close enough to make out the happenings on the Lionguard flagship, as it struggles under Taidha’s counterfire. An Asura appears to be leading them, clad in Lionguard Captain’s attire, shouting orders over the roaring battle. Her turquoise hair is whipped by the wind, moving like the arms of a terrible sea creature as she maneuvers about the deck.
“Lionguard!” Vaixx cries out, drawing the Captain’s attention. “You’re wasting your time! There is another way in!” She grits her teeth and gestures to him, beckoning him on board. After a moment’s hesitation, Vaixx orders Cariyen to approach further, until he can comfortably jump off the prow, onto the Lionguard vessel.
He lands on the deck and has to orient himself for a second before he spots the Captain waiting for him.
“Keep the damage coming!” she calls out to her crew, then grabs Vaixx crudely by the arm and chaperones him into what he assumes are her Captain’s Quarters.
The noise dulls behind the closed door and she turns to him.
“Pirate.” she spits the word like it’s profanity. “You have information, then spill it. I have no time for intrigue.”
“Neither do I. I want Taidha gone, just like you.” Vaixx says, keeping his head held high. “There is an underwater passage on the north side of the island, leading directly into the heart of the fort, as a last-ditch escape opportunity. Taidha kept this a secret, and comforts herself in the knowledge that only her Captains know about it.”
“That implies you are one of those Captains?” “Incorrect.” Vaixx crosses his arms. “I was First Mate to one, who recently died. Taidha would take control of my ship if she learned of it, and hunt me to the end of the world, should I betray her. Thus, she must die.”
The Lionguard bares her teeth. “You expect me to just let you go after this is over, don’t you? So you can take over her fleet?”
Vaixx grimaces. “I have no interest in anything related to this woman anymore.” he assures her. “You can continue dulling your claws on her defenses, losing lives and resources with every second, or you can let me aid you. Your choice.”
Seconds later, the door to the chamber flies open and the Lionguard steps out, Vaixx following close behind. “Keep the bombardment up! Buy me as much time as you can!” she orders her crew, then pulls a rebreather from her coat. “You lead the way, pirate.”
Vaixx nods and signals to his crew, then dons his own rebreather and jumps overboard.
The water muffles all sound from the battle, and no marine life has stuck around long enough to become a casualty in this fight. It’s almost peaceful. The peace is disturbed by the Lionguard hitting the water next to him, and a group of combatants from the Rascal approaching them, led by Raxxi.
Vaixx takes the lead.
It’s a long, silent swim around the isle. Vaixx forces himself to remain calm as he guides the group to a small, concealed hatch in the ocean floor. He jams his sword under the heavy trapdoor and levers it open. A cloud of dust spills into the water around them when the door falls open. The Lionguard gives him a long glare before she descends into the tunnel the hatch had revealed. Vaixx follows her.
Taidha Covington’s fortress is strong and the Lionguard assault barely puts her in distress. She has no need to use this emergency escape route yet. Thus, the passage is empty, unguarded, allowing Vaixx’ team to slip inside the fortifications unnoticed.
The tunnel opens up into a small room after rising above water level and the infiltrators can step onto dry ground again. The Lionguard is the first to take off her rebreather. “Very well. Now what?” she asks and Vaixx steps up to her side. “Now we brace for the battle. Taidha is likely surveying the struggle outside from a vantage point. She should be relatively easy to spot once we’re out in the open. “She will also be surrounded by her allies.” The Lionguard remarks sourly, probably regretting going alone. Vaixx can’t blame her. She’s all alone, in an enemy stronghold, surrounded by pirates. “I can make a diversion.” Raxxi pipes up snapping her fingers and letting lightning crackle between them. “All we need is some bad weather.” “Right. You can the others, distract Taidha’s flunkies. My new Lionguard friend and I will finish the job.” Vaixx decides and a displeased noise draws his attention back to said Lionguard.
“I am Captain Sebba.” She introduces herself, then stabs her index claw into Vaixx’ chest. “And I am not your friend, Pirate.” “Pleased to make your acquaintance.” Vaixx responds, his tone equally sharp. “Are you gonna argue about terminology with me or do we want to make the kill?”
Ten minutes later, the final stage of the assault is announced by a crack of thunder over Laughing Gull Island. A raging storm, conjured out of clear skies descends upon the small landmass, vicious winds swirling and straight up lifting pirates off the ground, hurling them in the air, then dropping them. Lightning strikes come down, hitting people and setting fires, all way too calculated to be natural.
Vaixx has left Raxxi at the exit of the building they had been concocting their plan in, guarded by his men as she sits cross-legged on the ground, fists clenched, eyes closed, in deep focus over the hell she’s unleashing upon Taidha’s men.
Captain Sebba, who has revealed herself to be a Mesmer, is holding Vaixx’ hand to keep an invisibility spell up on both of them as he leads her toward one of the larger structures, passing through the chaos that has ensues over Raxxi’s magical storm. Yet again, Vaixx is thankful for his small size, as it makes evading people a lot easier for him. “The spell will fail as soon as we attack.” Sebba’s disembodied voice informs him as the slip into a half-open set of doors and ascend a staircase made of crude driftwood. “She’ll be alone. All we need to do is kill her.” Vaixx responds and stops dead in his tracks. “Do you hear that?”
Heavy footfalls from up ahead, but neither of the two Asura have to guess for long. Taidha Covington herself is barreling down the stairs, cutlass in one hand, flintlock in the other, and expression of raw anger on her face. Vaixx feels a sting of fear as Sebba pulls him to the side, to avoid colliding with Taidha.
“She’s leaving the building!” she hisses and the thin veil of invisibility falls off them both.
Taidha freezes, then whips around, pointing her gun at them. For a second disbelief dominates her features. “Vaixx?” she asks, a mixture of surprise and anger in her voice. “You are behind this?” “Not at all, Admiral.” Vaixx replies sarcastically and mimes a salute. “I just pitched in to help.”
He waits for neither a response, nor Sebba’s contribution. In a flash, he’s upon Taidha and thrusts his cutlass forward. Clashing metal rings in his ears as she parries, forcing his sword arm aside and points her own weapon at his throat. “You little shit.” She growls. “Rowan’ll have your fucking head for this.” “Rowan’s indisposed.” Vaixx responds and avoids backward, just to dive underneath her sword and flank her. “Mutineer!” Taidha curses, just as Vaixx gets her by the shin, severing a tendon. She cries out and a gunshot shakes the building.
Vaixx stumbles back, having yelped in pain. He only barely managed to dodge, causing the bullet to glance his shoulder. His sword drops to the ground as the strength leaves his arm and warm blood soaks his coat sleeve. “Fuckin’…” he snarls and throws his offhand dagger at her, pinning her left arm to the ground and causing her to drop her gun. A breeze of air hits him as Sebba rushes past him, in a daring leap, landing with her knees on Taidha’s stomach and bringing her rapier down upon her.
The scream is cut short by another loud crack of thunder from the outside.
When Sebba steps back, Taidha Covington is dead on the ground, a profusely bleeding stab wound on her chest. The rapier had pierced her heart. For a moment, Sebba looks like a rabid animal, murder in her eyes and blood staining her pretty face and fancy coat, a harsh contrast to her regular demeanor. She turns around, bends down to Vaixx and drags him to his feet.
“Nice throw.” She compliments him, her breathing still shallow as she helps him steady himself. “Will you be fine?” “Nothing a serving of strong liquor can’t cure.” Vaixx groans, trying not to wince as Sebba moves him. “Thanks.” “Don’t thank me.” Is her response to that, but Vaixx does sense a hint of respect for him in her voice. “So, you gonna arrest me now?” he asks, as casual as he can. “Oh, I absolutely should!” Sebba says, as she helps him toward the door. “But we had an agreement. And I never go back on my word.”
