~Misfortuned and Stuck in Place~ Name: Raphael Species: Angel Ability: To inadvertantly bring misfortune upon himself

He's Angel's teacher, and is actually very protective of her. After she was attacked after sneaking out, Raphael was really unhappy that she left and was attacked. Angel's actually his last chance at teaching a student. If something terrible were to happen to her, he wouldn't be able to teach anymore. The losses of previous students caused him to become quite over-protective. He refuses to let Angel go on any missions until she's completed her training, much to her chagrin. Usually, he even forbids her from so much as going outside. He doesn't want to lose another student.

1. Prière à l’éphémère by Barbara Pravi

This song is one of my favourites of hers at the moment and it is PERFECT for this for many reasons

She has a passage: "Les couleurs du ciel au couché. Les bleus, les roses, les orangers. Et la lune. Apprends de l'éphémère où se cache la beauté" which translates to (because i cannot speak french lmao) “The colours of sky at bedtime. The blues, the pinks, the orange trees. And the moon. Learn from the ephemeral where beauty hides." I love the sunlight, but i also know myself well enough to know that the nightime is where i find the most peace - there is beauty in the moon to me and this passage like i would be thinking about the beauty of the night when looking at the sunlight. I also love orange and yellow and all the autumnal colours - which is why the passage is perfect, autumn sunsets are earlier so i almost always watch them and the leaves are orange and red and i am just surrounded by my favourite colours all the time it is beautiful.

Another thing is she has the sound of birds (bc she loves birds which is cute) playing in the background of her song which is why i associate it with autumn - its the perfect time to hear the birds and to just sit in the calm of autumn listening to the birds whilst watching the last of the leaves fall off the trees??? so perfect to me.

Another passage: "Apprends de l'éphémère où se cache la beauté. Voir la nature. Abreuve-toi à sa source. Contemplez mieux pour. vivre. Comme il est bon de vivre" which translates to "Learn from the ephemeral where beauty hides. See nature. Drink from its source. Contemplate better to live. As it is good to live" this song is so beautiful and there are thousands of things i could pick from it but this by far is one of my favourite parts - autumn marks the beginning of a new year at uni and i always see that as almost a reset for me, my mental health and my year. The beginning of uni is always when i am at my best mentally and i know at that point i would be thriving of the idea that it is good to live.

The whole song itself is about seeing the beauty in nature - i feel that when thinking of the last day of autumn its when i love nature the most, i love autumn but i love winter more - walking in the cold all bundled up with a hot drink looking at frosted leaves, its my favourite time of year - its also when i see the most beauty in nature because usually im complaining about bugs in summer lmao. i dont know the song is perfect for this.

I think what i love about this song so much is the idea of not just finding beauty in nature but finding the beauty in everything, im intense and quite frankly a hopeless romantic, i would romanticise a trip to asda if i could, the idea of finding so much beauty in just the natural day to day of life, like colours or sunlight is so beautiful to me and this song encapsulates that idea perfectly.

Barbara quite literally has a song called prayer to the sun... however, i am restricting myself to one barbara song and i have used it up lmao

2. Songbird by Fleetwood Mac

whenever i see any sunlight it always makes me think of this song

"For you, there'll be no more crying. For you, the sun will be shining" two of the most iconic fleetwood mac lines in the world, the idea of listening to this whilst staring at the sunlight almost makes those lines mean more - the sun is shining for you - find comfort in it, find the beauty in it.

The thought of staring at the sunlight at the end of autumn is very comforting to me, it is my favourite time of year, and i know from experience how peaceful it all seems - this song has also always been a comfort to me - therefore, i feel that they would fit perfectly together.

Standing nude in color 19, Françoise Zia

This work was originally designed around the plasticity of the human body. He enters the Western tradition of the female nude. These nudes were made in a short workshop from live models. I thus picked up the characters "chanel and spontaneous" model. The graphic and escaped soul leaves in a developed representation of the eternal feminine beauty. The ephemeral character of Grace is based in the movement of the line. This drawing was realized with painting with water and chinese ink. The signature "Anziani" is my surname, the drawings have been done before using my pseudonym "ZIA". Sketches are countersigned with my pseudonym "ZIA". Titre : Nu debout en couleur 19 Ce travail a été construit autour de la plasticité du corps humain. Il entre dans la tradition occidentale du nu féminin. Ces nus ont été réalisés en quelques minutes en atelier à partir de modèles vivants. J'ai ainsi capté les caractères “chanel et spontané” du modèle. La forme graphique laisse ainsi échappé l'âme dans une représentation élaboré de l'éternel beauté féminine. Le caractère éphémère de la grace s'articule dans le mouvement de la ligne. Ce dessin a été réalisé avec de la peinture à l'eau et de l'encre de chine. La signature « Anziani » correspond à mon nom patronymique, ces dessins ayant été réalisé avant l'utilisation du pseudonyme « ZIA ». Les croquis originaux sont contresignés avec mon pseudonyme « ZIA ».

Sunday: In My Own Thoughts

Today I chose to stay in and relax.  There are days when you just want to spend time with yourself, and today was it.  I did not seek out any of my friends, acquaintances or the like.  It was all me.

Perhaps it is in my nature to worry and obsess over things, but one thought occupied my mind: Osman. He monopolizes my every thought, my every action, my every breath.

Yet, he is nowhere to be found in those dreams that have been plaguing me.  When my subconscious takes over, I cannot feel him, smell him, or taste him.  In everyday thoughts, these things consume me, but in my dreams, he is absent. 

Is it a doomed love?  Is it but an ephemeral fling that I have confused with love?  I cannot buy that.  My feelings are so intense, so powerful, that I find it impossible to fathom a future without him. 

What cruel dreams, revealing a future without what has become an essential part of my being. . . my other half.  How am I to deal with existence knowing that this love I feel, and any that I may come across in the future, are but tiny specs of what is meant to be an impossibly long life? 

Am I doomed to be nothing more than a resounding gong?  Earlier I watched Kieslowski’s ‘Trois Couleurs Bleu’ again, because it is one of my favorite films.  The song at the end, Song for the Unification of Europe contains the words for 1 Corinthians 13 in Greek.  It is a beautiful piece that has a strong indictment on the creature I see myself becoming in my dreams. 

It brought me to tears. That soulless, cask of a thing cannot possibly be me, can she?  Am I meant to become some automaton without feelings?  What will happen to all those I love?  How can I possibly come to terms knowing that everyone I care about will eventually be gone?

Or perhaps those dreams are a warning?  Perhaps I am meant to find a way to extend their lives?  If it is within my means to do so, would it not be cruel and inhumane not to?  Maybe that is my whole purpose in life, and those dreams are a message from my mother, warning me of what happens when one loses their humanity?

«Choses vues, non, pas même vues jusqu’au bout. Choses simplement entrevues (…) Créatures ou simples formes qui surgissent ou qui tombent.» Aperçues donc. Comme le titre d'un récent recueil de Georges Didi-Huberman; point d'approche à défaut de point d'accroche de cette exposition.

Une affaire de regard. Annick Lizein et Eglantine Chaumont ont perçu immédiatement le Penthouse Art Residency comme un lieu propice à pointer le regard dans plusieurs directions. Point d'observation de trajectoires fugitives, belvédère ouvert à des horizons multiples, le lieu renferme également une histoire passée qui affleure à certains endroits pour qui sait être attentif aux couches de sédiments mémoriels qui s'y accumulent, réels ou rêvés. A cet égard, les sujets des peintures d'Annick Lizein sont issus d’un registre fantasmé où seuls certains signes ont résisté à la représentation, exprimant la persistance de la mémoire. Or, "fantasme" vient du grec ancien "phasma" qui peut se traduire par forme, apparition, fantôme. Visions en bribes de choses, de formes ou d'êtres qui, à peine apparus, disparaissent déjà, laissant dans leur sillage la traine d'une question, d'une mémoire ou d'un désir. Image-sillage. Persistances lumineuses comme les queues des comètes.

Une affaire de spectres. "Spectrum" en latin désigne l'image projetée, le simulacre émis par les objets qui renvoie à notre propre regard. «Rendre raison des fantômes c'est notamment rendre raison du regard de celui qui les voit, ou qui ne les voit pas» note Marie Capel. «Ce que nous voyons et ce qui nous regarde» (Georges Didi-Huberman) s'insère dans des jeux de miroir et de déplacements où la répétition du semblable provoque un sentiment d' "inquiétante étrangeté" (suivant le concept freudien). Cette traversée, cette exploration à bas bruit est une réflexion sur notre présence. Comme ces objets autonomes dont le corps, progressivement, s'absente. Comme ces reflets réels qui viennent se superposer à un reflet différé. Des œuvres qui présentent une dimension temporelle, un caractère éphémère et fugitif et qui relèvent également de la volonté d'Eglantine Chaumont de troubler la perception de l'espace.

Les Aperçues sont une sorte d'appel, des «réénonciations vives» selon l'expression de Serge Martin; un «moment de la fêlure et du cri entendu» comme dirait Bataille. Un moment autant qu'un mouvement ouvert aux transparences, aux contaminations et aux déchirures. Des spectres titubants qui se jouent de la figuration et de l’abstraction. Comme ces grands formats d'Annick Lizein où la couleur et le geste se confondent et qui font remonter tout à coup les «vieilles images», chères à Beckett, que la lumière saisit à l’improviste.

"Things seen, actually not even seen to the end. Things simply glimpsed (...) Creatures or simple forms that have arisen or fallen." Aperçues is the word in Fench. Like the title of a recent book by Georges Didi-Huberman as an onset, in default of a fixing point for this exhibition.

A matter of looking. Annick Lizein and Eglantine Chaumont immediately perceived the Penthouse Art Residency as a place to look in several directions. Point of observation for fugitive trajectories, belvedere open to multiple horizons, the place also encloses a past history which is outcropping in certain rooms for who knows to be aware of the layers of memory sediments which pile up there, real or dreamed. In this respect, the subjects of Annick Lizein's paintings come from a fantasy range where only certain signs resisted the representation, expressing the persistence of memory. However, "fantasy" comes from the ancient Greek "phasma" which can be translated by form, appearance or ghost. Snippets of things seen, shapes or beings that, just as they appeared, disappear already, leaving in their wake the trail of a question, a memory or a desire. Image-aftermath. Luminous persistence like comets tails.

A matter of spectres. "Spectrum" in Latin refers to the projected image, the simulacrum emitted by objects, which refers at the end to our own eyes. "To give reason to ghosts is, among other things, to acknowledge the eye of the person who sees them or doesn't", says Marie Capel. "What we see and what looks back at us" (Georges Didi-Huberman) fits into mirror games and displacements where the repetition of the like causes a feeling of the "uncanny" (following the Freudian concept). This traverse, this humble and quiet exploration is a reflection on our presence. Like these autonomous objects whose body is, progressively, absent. Like these real reflections that come to be superimposed on a deferred one. Works that have a temporal dimension, an ephemeral and fugitive specificity and that are also part of Eglantine Chaumont's desire to disturb the perception of space.

The Aperçues are a kind of call, "lively re-utterances" according to Serge Martin; a "moment of crack and cry heard" as Bataille would say. A moment as much as a movement open to transparencies, contaminations and splits. Lurching spectres that play with figuration and abstraction. Like Annick Lizein's large formats where colour and gesture merge, bringing suddenly to the surface the "old images" dear to Beckett, seized by the light unexpectedly.

Certainly one who contributed to this whole mess. She's the one who made people not notice the color changes, just because she was bored. Fortuna considers one to be in "good fortune" if he or she can see things for what they really are, but one is also in "good fortune" if he or she is ignorant to what something really is but is happy without the knowledge. Still, she's fair. If she agrees to do something on the condition she loses, she'll be perfectly happy to do that. Even if it takes away her fun. As long as it was fun while it lasted, right?

Notre commentaire : “Itaewon Salinsageon” (이태원 살인사건) ou “The Case of Itaewon Homicide” pour la distribution internationale, mais que l’on trouve également sous le titre de “Where the Truth Lies” est un thriller judiciaire coréen datant de 2009, dirigé par Hong Ki-sun, à qui l’on doit également le segment “An Ephemeral Life” dans le film “If You Were Me 3” (2006). Les acteurs principaux sont Peter Holman qu’on a pu voir dans “The Outlaw” (2010), Jang Keun-Suk, qu’on a pu voir dans de nombreuses séries télévisées coréennes, et Jung Jin-young, qu’on a pu voir dans “Gangnam 1970” (2015).

Des films ayant pour thème une affaire judiciaire qui nous emmène dans les prétoires afin de suivre les débats entre l’accusation et la défense, on en a forcément tous vus un jour ou l’autre, même s’il faut l’avouer ce n’est pas forcément un genre très attractif. Cela dit, j’aime bien ce genre, et je suis un fan de la première heure de la série New York Police Judiciaire (Law & Order) et de ses séries dérivées. Les thèmes sont forcément variés allant de la classique affaire de meurtre comme dans “The Whole Truth” (2016) en allant jusqu’au monde des affaires avec “Manipulation(s)” (2016) en passant par des débats passionnés comme la défense de la Shoah dans “Le Procès du Siècle” (2016).

Dans le cas présent, “The Case of Itaewon Homicide” est basé sur des véritables faits d’une affaire de meurtre à Itaewon, un des quartiers de Séoul. Cette histoire avait choqué la Corée quand un étudiant de l’université de Hongik, Cho Jung-Pil, incarné à l’écran par Song Joong-ki, avait été trouvé mort dans les toilettes d’un Burger King en 1997.

L’affaire en elle-même est assez sordide, un jeune homme se fait poignarder sauvagement à neuf reprises dans les toilettes d’un fast-food. Rapidement, un suspect est identifié, mais celui-ci accuse un second protagoniste. L’un et l’autre vont mutuellement se renvoyer la responsabilité de ce meurtre odieux. Le rythme est plutôt lent, ce qui est souvent le cas avec ce genre particulier. L’instruction de l’enquête et les débats dans la salle d’audience sont entrecoupés par des flashbacks où l’on peut suivre la version de chaque accusé.

La photographie est assez pauvre et les couleurs proposées sont relativement ternes. Il semblerait qu’un effort a surtout été effectué sur les différentes versions de l’assassinat en lui-même. Scène assez violente et surtout très sanglante. J’imagine qu’ils ont dû galérer à tourner cette scène plusieurs fois, et ce, en raison des litres d’hémoglobine dispersés dans ces toilettes exigus.

De l’ensemble du casting, et bien que le focus soit plutôt orienté vers Jung Jin-young qui incarne le procureur Park, c’est plus précisément la performance de Jang Keun-suk, qui interprète le jeune Robert J. Pearson, que nous aurons retenu. L’acteur offre un personnage ambigu, laissant croire qu’il est le meurtrier tout en avançant des preuves évidentes de son innocence. C’est notamment par ses expressions de visage qu’il œuvre. Notamment ses petits sourires en coin qui laissent imaginer qu’il n’est pas aussi innocent qu’il ne le prétend.

La fin laisse également planer le doute. Les deux principaux accusés retrouvant finalement leur liberté rapidement. Une dernière séquence les mettant individuellement en scène laisse finalement penser que chacun aurait en fin de compte été l’auteur du crime. C’est donc au spectateur de décider.

En raison de l’intérêt populaire pour cette affaire après la sortie du film, le bureau du procureur a finalement rouvert le dossier datant de 1997. En effet, des éléments de preuve ADN sont venus étayer l’accusation envers Arthur Patterson, dont le nom a été transformé en Robert J. Pearson pour le film. Une demande d’extradition vers la Corée a été formulée auprès des autorités américaines qui ont procédé à l’arrestation de l’individu en mai 2011. Après différentes procédures, Arthur Patterson a finalement été extradé vers la Corée en septembre 2015. Après quatre mois d’un nouveau procès, il été condamné, en janvier 2016, à 20 ans de prison. Arthur Patterson et ses avocats ont décidé de faire appel de la condamnation …

En conclusion, “The Case of Itaewon Homicide” est un thriller judiciaire très honorable, basé sur des faits réels qui avaient choqué l’opinion publique en 1997. Le réalisateur, Hong Ki-sun, ne prend pas position à travers son métrage, se contentant de montrer les faits et les débats contradictoires entre la défense et l’accusation. Le rythme correspond bien au genre et de nombreuses séquences flashbacks permettent de visualiser les différentes versions de l’affaire. La photographie est un peu pauvre et la bande originale est très discrète. La distribution offre de bonnes prestations. L’ensemble est divertissant et s’avère parfois assez rude visuellement.

2. What’s your current job? I’m waiting for to have the possibility to change my school career, so for now I’m doing a civilian service in a middle school.

3. What are you talented at? I don’t know but I’m trying to be talented at a lot of things !

4. What is a big goal you are working towards (or have already achieved)? To have enough money to have dogs and a library

5. What’s your aesthetic? t-rex, otters, pizza, blankets, books, forest and Jules Verne stuff

6. Do you collect anything? Plushies, Jules Verne books, and recipes books

7. What’s a topic you always talk about? Medieval history... I don’t know, I have so much anecdotes about this topic ! I talk about it in every kinds of conversations.

8. What’s a pet peeve of yours? To meet new people puts me into a big state of anxiety. I don’t feel at ease (and sometimes it becomes a crisis).

Hello, tout le monde, je m’excuse pour cette période de latence où je n’ai pas été productive. Avec ce bouleversement mondial qu’est le COVID19, tout le monde a pris un coup. Le Grand Large, l’une des meilleures enseignes, s’est digitalisé. L’enseigne a dû s’adapter au Nouveau Monde en proposant une sélection de mets à des prix étudiés pour satisfaire sa clientèle qui ne peut plus bénéficier de son service de qualité. On craque pour le menu Ramadan à 20 000 FCFA et pour l’offre Assinie (disponible partout).

Norima

Le groupe Norima comprend les enseignes Saakan, Norima, Mondial et le traiteur Zanda. Le groupe a pensé à se positionner sur Jumia avec Saakan et Norima, mais aussi en cette période à monter une mini carte d’offres de groupe. On craque pour l’offre sauce feuille que tout le monde devrait tester.

Croquis nu couleur, Françoise Zia

Title : Nude color sketch This work was originally designed around the plasticity of the human body. He enters the Western tradition of the female nude. These nudes were made in a short workshop from live models. I thus picked up the characters "chanel and spontaneous" model. The graphic and escaped soul leaves in a developed representation of the eternal feminine beauty. The ephemeral character of Grace is based in the movement of the line. They are made with water-based paint "gouache". Titre : Croquis nu couleur. Ce travail a été construit autour de la plasticité du corps humain. Il entre dans la tradition occidentale du nu féminin. Ces nus ont été réalisés en quelques minutes en atelier à partir de modèles vivants. J'ai ainsi capté les caractères “chanel et spontané” du modèle. La forme graphique laisse ainsi échappé l'âme dans une représentation élaboré de l'éternel beauté féminine. Le caractère éphémère de la grace s'articule dans le mouvement de la ligne. Ils sont réalisés avec de la peinture à l'eau « gouache ».
