i can sense the mood over the polls getting a little Too Online what with people malding over the involvement of people from other sites, and also the unfortunate return of latent hermitblr v dsmpblr spitefulness, so i am forcibly disengaging, but before i go i will ask only this of you, my dear dsmp followers and techno voters. something that will make everyone's day better that you can do with love and kindness in your heart.

Some meta talk comparing Dsmp and Qsmp below.

The Dsmp had a lot of behind the scenes issues that led to it’s eventual downfall, but two big ones were the difficulty to get involved in lore, and boredom on the server.

Lore is built on interactions with other streamers or pre-planned moments. But for there to be interaction, there needs to be people…actually playing on the server.

And if it’s been a year on a vanilla server and a majority of people are tired of building houses and gear and new silly religions and the reason the server is still going is for LORE, then streamers are going to start only logging on for lore. And if people aren’t logging on as frequently, then there’s even less motivation to log on.

And if pre-planned lore is mostly being done by small tight knit groups of people who have already done lore together, and even within those groups there’s a lack of communication, then pre-planned lore becomes rare and lore in general is unfairly hard for new members and members who couldn’t fit their character arcs easily into the bigger ones.

And this is (in part) how you end up with a lore server where nothing is happening.

I have no idea if Quackity or the Qsmp team had the Dsmp in mind while doing this, but I think it’s fascinating how the Qsmp fights against these two issues.

Dsmp obviously didn’t have the luxury of having a pre-set up storyline because the server wasn’t originally meant to be a roleplay server, but the fact that the Qsmp has a central antagonistic force controlled by a team of non-streamers (or streamers that don’t play on the server and don’t stream minecraft at least) helps SO MUCH.

The admins are constantly giving the server members shit to do. They get egg children they need to take care of, they get puzzles, they get random attacks by codes, they get weird missions from Cucurucho, they get Lucky Ducks, they get sent to prison, they get unhelpful AIs that will flirt with them instead of giving the inside info the everyone wants.

Like The Maze is it’s own kind of misery and maybe not the most entertaining thing the admins have cranked out, but I think we all would prefer hours of the maze to streamers getting bored and avoiding the server for months until the next event.

The eggs are evil genius for keeping players on the server, lmao. I remember during the last months of the Dsmp there was talk of potentially having required amount of time to be played on the server and everyone here on Dsmpblr was joking about how that would be enforced. The Qsmp straight up did the ultimatum of “Log on long enough to do these tasks by this deadline or either your character’s child will die, OR, one of your fellow server members will be forced to pick up the slack for you and you will be at risk of being called a Shitty Parent.”

Having a team of people control the lore makes it super accesible, too. If a streamer has a lore idea, they go to the admins for it and the admins put it into context of the setting and help them out with it. Pre-planned lore still happens between streamers, but this set up puts a lot less of a burden on new members, and makes things way easier for streamers who like doing solo lore.

It also gives opportunities for members who haven’t done lore together to suddenly be in Situations. Like the egg parenting, or Cellbit getting sent to watch Jaiden do her task, or Roier, Slime and Tubbo getting randomly(?) selected to do the fever dream maze run.

Again, it’s a little unfair to compare the Dsmp to the Qsmp because the two servers are from two different times and were created with very different plans in mind. And the Qsmp still has it’s own issues, it’s not perfect. But it’s still really interesting to see what works and what doesn’t.

DSMPBLR SURVEY: DSMP BLORBO NICKNAMES SURVEY 1

Hello everyone here's my first survey-ish before you read below cut make sure you stick around for a few stipulations/notes that i'll type here also in the first slide below cut.

Data was modified to be easier to present (more explained in the slide): such as making spellings of the same answer the same for ex, or making similar answers the same. Some answers were also omitted (only 1 majorly...). This is not a very scientific study so i am being very transparent about this for a silly /lh survey i made on a whim. Except for the srs omission answer, please refer to the raw data for like unmodified answers.

Warnings: there is use of the w word, s word, and c word, some character crit answers, and also mentions of abuse (1 answer for cdream). Just mentioning it here as warning before you scroll through! You will also see some character critical comments, as I did not delete those comments. Let me know if i should tag anything!

This is like in StarCraft when Aiur (greater DSMPblr) was destroyed so the Aiur Protoss (greater DSMPblr people) had to go to Shakuras (your askbox) and do their best to put aside the conflict with the exiled Nerazim (nuance enjoyers) but for years it was thought there would never be unity between the people (they are sending whatever this is to your askbox) this can only be resolved by Artanis (cTechnoblade) unifying the Protoss (people not sides) in the new Daelaam society (progressive vs reactionary ideology)

hi dsmpblr. how are you all doing. im planning on making a comic about what would happen if following the end events of the server everyone was put into a new server, with varying degrees of memories about what happened back in the dsmp (some people remember everything, some people only remember a bit) and the silly funny goofy things (+ the angst) that would occur. also some other mcyt who have no connection to dsmp are there too.

anyways. i dont know if i can make this comic considering i havent watched the dsmp in a long time and refuse to watch the last couple streams. so if anyone out there is reading this and specifically has watched the utah streams up to the end of the server streams and can recount to me what happened that would be so so cool and awesome.

Gonna say this here cuz i think if i say it on twt I’ll probably get doxxed and the fucking swat team will show up at my house (also this is just like kind of irrelevant rn considering mcc is on break rn so like buildmart discourse is at an all time low anyway)

Buildmart more than anything is a game abt communication and teamwork and it’s basically the only event in mcc that is this way, the fact that the only participants who want it gone ADAMANTLY are the people in the dsmp who struggle the most with coordination and working with others on lore says a lot abt just their character in general. Obviously buildmart isnt perfect and i agree that it can be improved (it’s definitely better w the new map). I just feel like w all the discourse happening abt lore organization on the dsmp it’s important to keep in mind that a lotta ppl from the dsmp are notoriously against buildmart while if you take the empires crew, they actually enjoy buildmart and are able to coordinate and organize lore far better and more consistently than the dsmp crew. I just think it’s interesting that weve seen buildmart (a communication game at its core) get dogpiled on by a bunch of creators on the dsmp and then immediately ppl act shocked when there’s no communication within the server

Anon who just woke up when they got the news and wrote a long goddamn essay, back with another one! Prepare to read!!!

Ive been doing better now. I confided about what happened to my parents who were both, surprisingly, supportive and understanding about what happened which definitely helped me a lot.

I then checked in on friends who I knew also liked Techno to make sure they were okay

After, I started scrolling through the technoblade tag, seeing all the art, everyones thoughts, his friends comments about him on twitter also helped me as I didn't feel alone in what I was going through

I still feel weird now though. Like I said in my og essay, Techno helped dragged me back into the Minecraft fandom, as I took a break when it was becoming less popular. He truly was a comfort cc of mine and to know hes gone is upsetting. I was and still am a major SBI fan. I enjoyed the family dynamic the four of them created so much. I used to joke with my close friends, who I regard as siblings now, that we three we specific members of SBI. I was Will, my sister was Tommy and my sibling was Techno (The Phil role was whoever had the braincell at the time (WHICH IS MOSTLY ME- /lh)). Hell, the whole reason I started referring those two close friends of mine as my siblings is because techno and the rest of SBI helped me truly understand the idea that family is more than just blood. Funny how the blood god taught me that

I will miss shouting 4/4 SBI whenever the four of them just so happened to even be in the same twitch chat. I'll miss being excited to see any of the duos be together. I'll miss Technos witty jokes and dry sense of humor that I feel in love with. I'll miss Techno, Alex, Dave, whatever you want to call him.

I want to keep his legacy on though. I actually wanted to try and get good at pvp recently and Im not giving up on that. I was one of the many voices in his head and its my job to keep his blood god legacy going, even if Im bad at it
