I need someone to explain the Banana Discourse on Twitter in small words. I might be wrong, but far it looks like an argument between

Western communists deciding the economic reorganization of South America towards "self-sufficiency" by taking away the USAmerican demand for bananas, and

White liberals insisting that South America is better off with the US buying bananas from them because collapsing the industry (somehow) would take away jobs.

Because boycotts totally work, nobody else eats bananas, those are the only two options, and South American people don't have any opinions about their own economy. Pick your imperialist.

Edit: Just found out the discourse is because "we must give up bananas for the good of South American socialism" lady brought up her cocaine habit as evidence that she wasn't moralizing pleasure. i’m trying to break out of it but, when it comes to their relationship dynamics, so far no fic has managed to top the one skiing au where bokuto and akaashi try and convince kuroo and tsukki to be in a poly relationship that i followed religiously back in 2015, like. (almost) no other fic has managed to tap into what i find so appealing about that group’s whole dynamic, their humour their earnestness their chaos as four, the way akaashi and tsukki balance kuroo and bokuto’s energy (except everyone knows the real trouble is tsukki and bokuto), and like the individual dynamics are incredible too, every pairing just worked so well, even ones i wouldn’t have considered before like kuroo and akaashi. like how in 100k words did this author manage to develop every relationship just so damn well??? there should be way too many moving parts, at least one of the dynamics should have fell flat or fell to the background but none of them did ughhhhh oh my god it’s so good i just need like. a dozen more fics exactly like it rippppp like i’m watching s2 (again yes ik) and all i can think about when i see the four of them interact is “wow that author really nailed their dynamics, what they wrote is exactly how those four would be in 10 years time” god fanfiction is incredible

Along those lines, the kinds of jokes Dreamworks movies got away with in the 90s and early 2000s would probably never fly now

Dreamworks tends to release two movies each year, sometimes in very close proximity to each other. In almost every instance of this, one movie is fantastic or a cultural icon, while the other is absolute garbage or completely forgettable (Prince of Egypt vs Antz in 1998, Shrek 2 vs Shark Tale in 2004, and even later on, How to Train Your Dragon vs Shrek Forever After in 2010, just to name a few)

The two Aardman movies I've seen are, expectedly, exceptionally British

The plot of almost every Dreamworks movie can be summed up as "Because Woman" (what I mean by this is that usually the plot of any given Dreamworks movie is set into motion because one of the main characters is trying to get with a Woman) (except again, Prince of Egypt and Madagascar, later on I guess HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda too)

Despite several movies released close to very similar Disney movies (Antz to a Bug's Life, Shark Tale to Finding Nemo, Madagascar to The Wild and so on and so forth), the vibes are completely different from literally any Disney movie and I can respect that

2D Dreamworks women are so fucking beautiful all the time goddamn

Dreamworks villains tend to generally be much less memorable than Disney villains. Some of them are very one-note and just kinda... there (Tzekal-Kan, that general guy from Spirit, the general guy from Antz (what does Dreamworks have against general?), but the ones that are insanely memorable (Rameses, Mrs. Tweedy, Lord Farquaad, Eris) tend to be the most over the top and dramatic, I love them

I went ahead and watched a few Dreamworks holiday specials last night and lemme tell ya, they are Weird as fuck (Gift of the Night Fury is fantastic tho, I just about sobbed like a baby over this boy and his dragon all over again)

I hate this fucking studio but I'm also goddamn fascinated by them.

We haven't seen what the daylight spell did to help the situation yet (except for drawing the attention of everyone, giving kuro the chance to get up again so tsubaki failed to put the counts blood in his mouth) but everything points towards the manga entering into the next stage of the final arc (sakuya killed his mikuni clone and misono freed himself from lily's chess game) so I assume that it will at least buy the characters some time to do other things again.

Anyway, I hope we'll see mikuni and lily starting to feel like the decision to put kuro on mahiru's path (ordinary high schooler from a sorcerer family with no magic abilities or combat experience not much to expect from to quote lily) might have been a mistake.

Mikuni is always hard to read so I'm suspicious of his decision to explain anything about his spell at all, but maybe he's getting cocky thinking there is no way they will be able to kill all his clones before the end of the ritual.

And this is probably where it will bite mikuni in the ass that he only relies on himself while mahiru aquired a huge amount of allies (potentially even more if tsubaki's subclass become his allies. And hey sakuya and lilac would probably help mahiru already). Killing 13 mikuni's with all the factions not communicating with each other and not working together? Okay, that barrier spell might have lasted until the ritual is done.

But with all the people on mahiru's side? He has almost all the servamps and their subclass, every eve except one, the entirety of C3, gear and some of tsubaki's subclass on his side. Even freaking touma is trying to stop the ritual.

The numbers are not in mikuni's favour. Even with him multiplying that much. Hugh already switched sides, jeje is still captured and lost his jinn, tsubaki is kind of stuck in his battle with kuro and lily I suspect might start to have doubts after he lost to misono.

Mahiru and kuro getting rid of the distance limit is another thing they probably didn't anticipate. It was an important part of so many plans before. Shuhei used it to try to pressure mahiru into working with C3, tsubaki used it to trick misono into thinking licht and lawless were kept apart and it put nicco under pressure when he had to take sigurd hostage. With it gone it's way harder to force the servamps and eves to do things they don't want to do.

Idea for curing Astarion's vampirism that keeps plaguing my mind so I need to subject you all to it: You manage to find some spell/potion/whatever that can cure/remove vampirism - wonderful! EXCEPT, since vampires are technically undead, upon removing that vampirism, they become simply just...Dead. Bc the vampirism was what was keeping them from just keeling over. SO it becomes a whole two-step process where first you need to cure the vampirism, then you need to find somebody who can cast True Resurrection to bring him back because technically he's been "dead" too long for Revivify to work, and Withers isn't just on house call anymore.

Just. Think of all the hurt/comfort possibilities.
