Messed up

It’s 4:49 AM.

I can’t sleep.

I’m high.

I’m sitting here thinking about the bad things I’ve done out of spite.

I remember one time, I was mad at my best friend.

I have no clue why we were fighting.

We were like 12 mind you.

We both played FarmVille on Facebook.

Her account was logged into my computer cause you know, best friend since kindergarten.

I was so mad at this girl..

I got on her Facebook..

Went to her FarmVille

AND DELETED AND SOLD EVERYTHING!!!

All of her rare animals and supplies and just everythinggggg. I erased her wholeeee game that we had been playing for like a year. She had SOO MUCH.

She called my house crying and asked my mom if I had been on her account and my mom looked at the previous pages and seen that I ad and told her no that I hadn’t been on her account and that I had barely been at the computer that day.

SHE THOUGHT FACEBOOK FUCKED HER OVER

SHE CRIED

SHE NEVER PLAyed again...

And I did that to her... and I feel like shit... and I still don’t think I ever want to tell her. We don’t really talk much anymore but we always check in on each other every now and then...

But I just needed to get that out. That’s the worst thing I’ve done out of spite. Erased my best friends FarmVille.

This local ad from 1928 proclaims that Davidson's in Farmville is the "style headquarters" for H-SC students. 

The Davidson building still stands — in the 1960s it was taken over by the Silco department store, and today it's one of several store fronts for Green Front Furniture.

This is a painting I just finished (I think). I painted the old house originally alone, but it looked very stark. I painted it as it reminds me of southern VA and/or rural NC. And while the light and shadow are visually interesting, I felt that it needed a bit of a story to make it more compelling. So, I added the porch and man in the foreground. Both of these particular elements (the porch/man and the old house) were influenced by one of my favorite artists Edward Hopper. I often look at his works for inspiration as well as to another American favorite artist, Fairfield Porter. If I could channel either of these painters in my work, I would consider myself quite fortunate, as I love both. It's interesting, the more I look at this piece, the more of myself I see therein. I could write more about that here, but maybe that's for a later discussion.
