How do you think a female Light and L would be? Would the story change?

Personally, I don't think there would be any major potential for a difference in the story and the plot.

The only difference would be that instead of two men, we would follow the story of two women and their game of cat and mouse. L would still want to catch Kira, and Light would still pretend that she is nOt KiRa, and so on.

Okay, maybe instead of fist fighting, we would have more slap fighting and hair pulling, lol. And a lot of more screaming and yelling, because L and Light as a women would have the "potential" to be more emotionally sensitive and open in a way. And maybe the show would be less misogynist, but who knows.

Also Light would surely cry on several occasions during the investigation (she would use it as one of her tools for manipulation), and she would surely shed a few tears when she would finally manage to get rid of L.

How would a genderbent L turn out? What about an M takada and Misa

Genderbent L hmm...I think fem!L would be a "not like other girls" kinda girl. Fem!L would be a lot more condescending & patronizing towards the men she works with because of the gendered expectations they hold towards her. She'd have long hair and would like to twirl it sometimes when deep in thought (like Near does, both in manga and the oneshot). She'd also be very ambitious in her career goals, just like in canon. And she wouldn't care about beauty standards at all, she just wants cake & justice :D

I feel like she would be a bit like Raven except with longer hair from Teen Titans:

-fiercely intelligent, mysterious, secretive, quiet, moody, sarcastic, cold & bluntly rude at times etc.

Male!Misa would be a little like Peeta Mellark, I think. Both would be charismatic, popular, outwardly kind & nice with a very likeable personality. They both are clever yet subtle in their manipulations. Male!Misa pursuing Light would seem a lot more creepy than when female Misa was pursuing Light. I guess Male!Misa would also be a bit like Matsuda: not exactly intellectually bright but resourceful nonetheless, cheerful, reckless, brave etc.

Male!Takada would be somewhat like Light, I guess? Not a genius like him tho, yet still very smart in his (Takada's) own right. Very political & ambitious (not unlike female Takada) too. And would view his good looks as an asset(+scoff at people who fall for them alone, as he'd judge them to be shallow but at the same time be secretly flattered). Sadly, male!Takada would also be deeply sexist like Light & would dislike "stupid women" as female Takada did.

im unsure why im getting death note asks as ive barely posted about it but im nonetheless very excited to answer this!!

genderbent light would probably be sexist in a similar way that canon light is; uninterested in men/stereotypes them unless they proved useful or competent. she might be more bitter towards the opposite gender than canon light b/c it's very easy to imagine girl genius light having her accomplishments downplayed or accused of cheating because "women aren't supposed to be that smart" and wanting to get revenge on those who doubted her. she would definitely use that to make her murders seem honorable, i think.

alternatively you could have fem light try to distance herself from traditional femininity as much as possible in order to try and appeal to male-centric academia, and therefore adopt a negative view of other women like canon light. I think the first interpretation is more likely and better suits the idea of light being bored with her academic pursuits as well as her god complex, but the second could be really fun if she met a fem L who took on a masculine public persona. I don't know if she would gain a greater appreciation of other women and adopt that into her strategy like i said above, or if she would simply view herself and L as exceptions.

i think fem L would be remarkably similar in behavior and personality to canon L. i can't imagine her having a strong sexist leaning either way but she'd definitely have a fun time of examining light's various gender-based complexes and calling her out on them.

the common thread here is that fem light and fem L develop incredibly strong lesbian psychosexual obsessions with each other, even Worse than they are in canon.
